TACO Trump Tries to Blame Biden for the Boulder Terrorist Attack that Happened on His Watch

This weekend there was another act of domestic terrorism in America – this time in Boulder, Colorado – committed by an anti-Semitic extremist purporting to be a supporter of Palestinians. Although, nothing could be more destructive of Palestinian interests than a terrorist who seems to support the hostage taking by Hamas that the victims in Boulder were protesting.

Many concerned Americans from across the political spectrum condemned the attack in its immediate aftermath. But Donald Trump, too chicken to address the matter, said nothing about it until the next day. Presumably he was too busy to even express any sympathy for the victims because that would have have interrupted the golf game he was engaged in at the time. Not to mention his other pressing duties as president…

On Monday, when Trump finally had time to make a statement about the crime, he unleashed a typically Trumpian load of bile. And naturally, he sought to cast blame on his political foes for a tragic event that occurred on his watch. He posted a comment exhibiting his callous self-interest to his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, saying that…

“Yesterday’s horrific attack in Boulder, Colorado, WILL NOT BE TOLERATED in the United States of America. He came in through Biden’s ridiculous Open Border Policy, which has hurt our Country so badly. He must go out under ‘TRUMP’ Policy.”

Most notable in Trump’s response is his desperate effort to cast blame on former President Joe Biden. He resorts to that defamation even before showing any concern for the plight of those who were hurt. And true to form, Trump flagrantly lied about the suspect, Mohamed Sabry Soliman. Trump implies that he was an illegal immigrant by asserting that he entered the U.S. through “Biden’s ridiculous Open Border Policy” an asinine phrase that Trump only uses with regard to illegal immigration. But Soliman is an Egyptian who entered the U.S. legally. And when his visa expired he applied for and received a valid work permit.

However, none of that matters to Trump, whose only interest is maligning his perceived enemies and absolving himself of any responsibility. The untouchable Mr. Trump always insists that he knows nothing about anything in order to distance himself from whatever horrendous affair he’s hoping to avoid an association with, or is too cowardly or ignorant to face. The problem for Trump is that his own team of White House liars sometimes inadvertently contradict him. For instance…

Trump’s own official Rapid Response team posted a timeline for Soliman’s immigration status that shows that he was a legal immigrant with a valid work permit during the Biden administration. It wasn’t until March of 2025, during Trump’s term, that the permit expired. So it was Trump who allowed him to stay in the U.S. to commit an act of terrorism.

Trump has repeatedly said that he would focus his ethnic cleansing …er… mass deportation efforts on the most dangerous criminals in the U.S. illegally. Apparently that means Harvard students who write op-eds for their college newspaper, law abiding fathers with steady jobs and American wives, makeup artists with Latino names, and four year old cancer patients. But he let Soliman stay. And somehow it was Biden’s fault?

And that’s not all, Trump’s senior White House advisor, Stephen Miller, likewise blamed Biden in a tweet about Soliman’s illegal status, even though that was not the case until Trump was in office. And a similar tweet was posted by the official Trump War Room account on Twitter.

Clearly Trump’s interest in this matter is not related to the fate of the victims, the administration of justice, or the welfare of the American people. His highest priorities in responding to this tragedy are to whitewash his own reputation and to slander his adversaries. Which is a pretty good summation of the malignant narcissism that governs Trump’s priorities when responding to anything.

Snowflake Trump Whines He Suffered ‘Mental Anguish’ From the 60 Minutes Interview of Kamala Harris

The reputation that Donald Trump has tried so fervently to fabricate for himself has always been a feat of fiction. He wants the world to regard him as a tough guy and a macho man, despite never having displayed any of the characteristics that would make that version of himself plausible.

To the contrary, Trump is a five-time draft dodger who insults real military heroes as “suckers and losers.” He runs away from any challenging questions from scary journalists, who he maligns as “fake news” instead of providing an actual answer. And more recently he has been tagged with the label of being a T.A.C.O. – Trump Always Chickens Out – as a result of his failing to stand behind the phony facade he has presented on his tariff agenda.

So no one should be surprised that Trump is now making a claim that utterly destroys his pitiful aspiration to be admired as a strongman. In his lawsuit against CBS News his lawyers are asserting that he has suffered “mental anguish” having watched their 60 Minutes interview of Kamala Harris. The Associated Press (who Trump has banned from presidential avails) is reporting that…

“President Donald Trump suffered ‘mental anguish’ from CBS News’ editing of a ’60 Minutes’ interview with Democratic opponent Kamala Harris last fall, his lawyers are arguing in court papers. Trump’s status as a ‘content creator’ was also damaged by attention given to the interview, lawyers said.”

Poor baby. Imagine having to endure the words of your political opponent spoken in the sort of coherent, complete sentences that you’re incapable of. It must be unbearable. So naturally you have your lawyers plead to the court that you, and even your cult disciples, were irreparably harmed, saying that “this led to widespread confusion and mental anguish of consumers, including plaintiffs.”

Of course, the facts of the case strongly favor 60 Minutes. What Trump preposterously says was “illegal” editing that should result in CBS being taken off the air and losing their broadcast license, was nothing but the ordinary editing of news interviews for time and clarity. And the segment was so professionally done that it has been nominated for an Emmy for – get this – “Outstanding Editing.”

Unfortunately, Trump is using this lawsuit as a cudgel to coerce the CBS parent corporation, Paramount Global, to settle the case for millions of dollars. And there is the not-so-veiled threat that if they don’t settle, Trump’s FTC will refuse to greenlight the billion dollar merger that Paramount is pursuing with Skydance Media. Which is a blatantly illegal mob-style shakedown. And yet, Paramount is considering the settlement demand. Which is likely the reason that 60 Minutes producer, Bill Owens, and CBS News President Wendy McMahon have both resigned citing the corporate interference in their journalism.

In the meantime, let’s all keep Trump and his tender fee fees in our thoughts as he struggles to bear with the severe mental anguish of having media that refuses to worship him adoringly at all times. It must be a living hell for the Big Crybaby-in-Chief.

Trump Celebrates a ‘Major WIN’ Against the Pulitzer Prize Board in a Blithering Outburst of Bile

Case in point is Trump’s response to the news of a recent court ruling on a motion in his lawsuit against the Pulitzer Prize board. Trump sued the board in an bizarre attempt to get them to rescind the Pulitzer Prizes awarded to the Washington Post and the New York Times for their coverage of the unsavory connections between Trump’s election campaign and a variety of Russian operatives.

On Wednesday night Trump posted a comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that was a rambling flurry of abusive adjectives and lies in which he claimed that a minor court ruling is a “major WIN” that will force the recipients of a Pulitzer Prize to return it. Trump raged that…

“In a major WIN in our powerful lawsuit against the Pulitzer Prize Board regarding the illegal and defamatory ‘Award’ of their once highly respected ‘Prize,’ to fake, malicious stories on the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, by the Failing New York Times and the Washington Compost, the Florida Appellate Court viciously rejected the Defendants’ corrupt attempt to halt the case.”

Needless to say, there was no “major WIN” in Trump’s lawsuit. The Pulitzer’s award was neither “illegal” nor “defamatory.” The stories that received the award were neither “fake” nor “malicious.” And nothing in the appellate court’s ruling was “vicious.” These were just more examples of Trump’s rank dishonesty and rancid hyperbole. But he was just getting started. He continued…

“They won a Pulitzer Prize for totally incorrect reporting about the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax. Now they admit it was a SCAM, never happened, and their reporting was totally wrong, in fact, the exact opposite of the TRUTH. They’ll have to give back their ‘Award.’ They were awarded for false reporting, and we can’t let that happen in the United States of America. We are holding the Fake News Media responsible for their LIES to the American People”

Once again, the Pulitzer board was totally within their rights to grant awards as they see fit. They even conducted an independent review to affirm their original decision that concluded that “no passages or headlines, contentions or assertions in any of the winning submissions were discredited by facts that emerged subsequent to the conferral of the prizes.”. Trump’s claim that they now “admit it was a SCAM” is wholly delusional on Trump’s part. And his suggestion that the award would have to be returned is preposterous.

What Trump is calling a “a major WIN” is nothing more than a ruling against a motion by the Pulitzer board to temporarily pause proceedings in the case until Trump’s current term in office is complete, citing potential complications from a Supreme Court ruling that allows presidents temporary immunity for official acts during their term in office.

However, the Fourth District Court of Appeal in Florida ruled that “such privileges are afforded to the President alone, not to his litigation adversaries.” In other words, the Pulitzer board cannot assert a privilege granted to the president. So, because Trump isn’t moving for the delay, the case will go forward. Which Trump may live to regret.

Contrary to his bombastic bellowing, Trump hasn’t won anything. There was no finding on the merits of the lawsuit. The facts of the case still favor the Pulitzer board. And Trump’s obsession with suing everyone that hurts his tender fee fees is the only thing about this that was predictable.

Although his record is somewhat less than stellar. According to Democracy Docket, “The Trump administration has lost a shocking 96% of rulings in federal district courts so far this month.” And the results of this case are unlikely to improve that record.

Trump’s Cabinet Spends More Time Spreading Lies on Fox News than Working for the American People

Now that Donald Trump is four months into his second occupation of the White House, it’s easy to forget that his prior experience for the job was having been a failed businessman with multiple bankruptcies who resurrected his tawdry reputation by becoming a reality TV game show host. But all that anyone needs as a reminder is a quick look at the horrible results of his self-serving agenda.

Trump’s television past is evident in his governing style that consists primarily of staging photo-ops and developing melodramatic scenarios that seem more like the sort of cheesy plots of daytime soap operas than the serious work of government. Contriving conflict has always been a basic component of entertainment, and Trump has adapted it to his White House communications strategy. Even to the extreme of manufacturing hostilities with beloved celebrities.

Keeping with his fixation on television as a governing and propaganda tool, Trump has deployed some of his most senior staff and Cabinet officials to essentially be on TV duty every day. Which is easy for him since there are so many former Fox News folks (21 so far) in his White House. High ranking members of past administrations would be at a loss to explain how Trump’s staffers can do their jobs while preening for Fox News constantly. Trump’s defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, a former Fox News squawking head himself, even had a makeup studio built at the Pentagon for him to prepare for his TV appearances.

This week, because everything in the country is running so perfectly, Trump’s Cabinet was able to report for duty at Fox News en masse. It began with Trump’s Propaganda Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, who was on Sean Hannity’s program where she admitted that all she does every day is hate-watch other news networks. Which is something that Trump himself likes to do.

Trump’s utterly unqualified FBI director, Kash Patel, was on Fox News complaining about having to neglect the real work of the Bureau because he and his agents were too busy chasing bullsh*t “threats” triggered by an innocent meme posted by former FBI Director, Jim Comey…

“Do you know how many copycats we have had to investigate as a result of that beach side venture from the former director? Do you know how many agents I’ve had to take offline from chasing down child sex predators, fentanyl traffickers, terrorists, because everywhere across this country people are popping up on social media and think that a threat to life of the president of the United States is a joke?”

Patel’s deputy director at the FBI, former podcaster Dan Bongino, was also on Fox News whining about how hard his job is. Aside from also complaining about Comey, and confessing that he doesn’t like his new job, Bongino threw himself a pity party, kvetching about how tough it is to have a real job. Perhaps he should go back to podcasting…

“I gave up everything for this. I mean, you know, my wife is struggling and I’m not a victim. I’m not Jim Comey. Fine. I did this and I’m proud I did it. But if you think we’re there for tea and crumpets…I stare at these four walls all day in D.C. You know, by myself, divorced from my wife, not divorced, but I mean, separated. And it’s hard.”

Then there was Trump’s incompetent Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy, who is both a former reality TV goofball, and a former Fox News hack. He was on Fox News complaining about public transportation, which is something that he is responsible for. But he thinks that only liberals want you to use it. Also…

Joining the Trump Brigades was his Education Secretary, Linda McMahon, who has pledged to shut down the department she runs, because who needs education. She was on Fox News attacking foreign students who come to America and implying that they, and their teachers, are subversives. Because the best and brightest young people in other countries just can’t wait to get into an American university and burn it down.

That was all in just two days. When do any of these people have the time to work on anything related to their actual job titles? Although, it may actually a blessing in disguise that these phonies are so wrapped up in media appearances. The more time they spend on television, the less time they have to screw up the country.

However, it would be nice if the American people could have some faith that their public servants were actually working on their behalf. We’ll just have to wait until Trump and Company are gone for that. 8647!

Trump Admits that He Has Been Protecting Vladimir Putin and Russia From ‘Really Bad Things’

Throughout his political life, Trump has frequently lambasted America’s allies, while he has conspicuously declined to criticize Putin or condemn his abhorrent activities, including war crimes in Ukraine and elsewhere.

This week Trump has diverted from his notoriously pro-Putin stance to offer some mild rebukes following Putin’s failure to heed Trump’s impotent demand that he stop bombing civilians in Ukraine. Instead, Putin escalated his attacks, proving how little respect for, or fear of, Trump Putin has. Never mind Trump’s promise to end the war in 24 hours with a single phone call before he was even inaugurated. Or his claims that the war would never have happened if Trump were in office at the time Putin invaded. Which Trump doesn’t even believe…

On Tuesday morning Trump posted a comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, wherein he made an unexpected confession. He wrote that…

“What Vladimir Putin doesn’t realize is that if it weren’t for me, lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia, and I mean REALLY BAD. He’s playing with fire!”

And there you have it. Trump is admitting that he has been been protecting Putin and Russia from some unspecified “really bad things.” So while Putin was massacring innocent Ukrainian civilians, destroying the nation’s infrastructure, and insisting that it doesn’t have any right to exist, Trump was shielding Russia from any harm that might have come its way.

That’s been noticeably true as Trump halted America’s military and intelligence support for Ukraine. He also refused to impose any new sanctions on Russia, or to seize the billions of dollars of frozen Russian assets in U.S. control. And Trump has been Russia’s strongest advocate to reenter the world community in organizations such as the G7.

This latest missive by Trump follows his complaint that Putin “has gone absolutely CRAZY.” Is Trump pretending to be surprised by this transformation in his Russian BFF? If not, and he truly believes it, that’s even worse. In another Truth Social post Trump yammered that…

“I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY! He is needlessly killing a lot of people.”

Trump says that Putin "has gone absolutely CRAZY."But Putin is doing exactly what he's done since he invaded Ukraine 3 years ago. And Trump, who said he would end the war in 24 hours, is responsible for prolonging it by halting the support America was giving to Ukraine.

However, Putin hasn’t changed one bit. His brutal slaughter of Ukrainians has been going on for three years. But Trump saw fit to abandon and betray our ally by cutting off aid. The only person with more Ukrainian blood on his hands than Putin is Trump. And yet, Trump is still deferential to Putin, while he attacks and insults President Zelenskyy as a “dictator” who doesn’t really want the war to end.

If Trump were genuinely interested in ending what he has called “a bloodbath” (he isn’t), Trump could simply restore military support for Ukraine and slap more sanctions on Russia. But neither Ukraine, nor concerned Americans, should hold their breath waiting for Trump to do something decent and humane. As the old saying goes, you can’t squeeze decency from a malignant narcissist.

Most of the American people honor the ultimate sacrifices that these soldiers made on their behalf. But unfortunately, we are living at a time when a uniquely ill-suited “leader” has come to occupy the White House. Donald Trump is a five-time draft dodger who has called fallen soldiers “suckers” and “losers” and who aligns himself with the sort of totalitarians (Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, Kim Jong Un, etc.) that our military fought against so many times. On this Memorial Day, Trump got up early to post on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, about his feelings on this hallowed day. And as usual, he managed to neglect the true purpose of the occasion in order to shift attention to the only subject that really matters to him: himself. He began his harangue saying, in a diarrheic deluge of all-caps…

“HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO ALL, INCLUDING THE SCUM THAT SPENT THE LAST FOUR YEARS TRYING TO DESTROY OUR COUNTRY THROUGH WARPED RADICAL LEFT MINDS.”

This is a typically infantile outburst that Trump unloads on these occasions. Last year he addressed his Memorial Day message “to All, including the Human Scum that is working so hard to destroy our Once Great Country.” And on Easter the same year, Trump bellowed “HAPPY EASTER TO ALL, INCLUDING CROOKED AND CORRUPT PROSECUTORS AND JUDGES THAT ARE DOING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO INTERFERE WITH THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF 2024, AND PUT ME IN PRISON.” And on Christmas in 2022, Trump raged “Merry Christmas to EVERYONE, including the Radical Left Marxists that are trying to destroy our Country.”

This year’s message went on to whine about President Biden, who he called “AN INCOMPETENT PRESIDENT;” about the judicial system and the “USA HATING JUDGES;” about the immigrants who he maligned as “CRIMINALS AND THE MENTALLY INSANE;” and about the grab bag of ‘MONSTERS WHO WANT OUR COUNTRY TO GO TO HELL.” After the humiliating performance he gave at West Point a couple days ago, he shouldn’t be talking about the alleged “imcompetence” of others.

However, there was one group of Americans that was conspicuously absent from Trump’s tantrum. He never once mentioned the fallen soldiers who Memorial Day was created to memorialize. It was all about Trump, his political enemies, and his personal grievances. What’s more, Trump later visited Arlington National Cemetery and said much the same thing. While the script that was prepared for him did make a few references to those buried at Arlington, Trump “weaved” into his speech some more exaltations of himself.

This is the sort of rancid rhetoric that Trump is so well known for. It is drenched in narcissism and vengeance. And it is utterly devoid of empathy, consideration, or respect for anyone other than himself. Yet somehow, Trump is so emotionally dysfunctional that he can’t see the harm in his insensitivity. And his handlers are either too blind or too scared to be honest with him about how grossly inappropriate his egomaniacal tirades are.

Which, unfortunately, means that we are all going to be subjected to further episodes of Trump’s Derangement Syndrome until his term is over, or he is removed from office by impeachment or invocation of the 25th amendment. Hopefully, he won’t be allowed to cause too much more harm between now and them.

Unfortunately, Trump’s speech was just another one of the rabidly partisan campaign style rants that he disgorges at his cult rallies. Consequently, it was filled with lies, insults, and narcissistic exaltations of himself. It was indistinguishable from the self-serving propaganda that he unloads during the staged press avails where he reveals how ignorant he is about pretty much everything.

Commencement speeches are supposed to be events that will inspire graduating students in advance of the life journeys that they will shortly embark upon. But true to form, Trump’s speech hardly conformed to that grand tradition. Instead, he tainted the entire affair with his radical, far-right, MAGA-fied politics, and flattery of himself and his imaginary achievements in office.

Among Trump’s egomaniacal glorifications was one that was particularly appropriate. He told the story of his friend, real estate magnate William Levitt, who “lost momentum” and became a wretched loser who died bankrupt and alone. According to Trump…

“He ended up getting a divorce, found a new wife — could you say a trophy wife? I guess we can say a trophy wife. It didn’t work out too well. And that doesn’t work out too well, I must tell you, a lot of trophy wives. It doesn’t work out. But it made him happy for a little while, at least. But he found a new wife. He sold his little boat, he got a big yacht.”

Trump’s tale of Leavitt sounds awfully familiar. Trump himself was divorced – twice. Each time he remarried someone that could be described as a “trophy wife.” It didn’t work out well. He cheated on all three of them. His current wife Melania – a former model – rarely spends any time with him. She lives in New York, not at the White House or Mar-a-Lago. She probably made him happy for a little while, at least. But now she’s probably just trying to hold on until the will has been read.

Most of the rest of Trump’s speech wasn’t any better. Rather than imparting any gems of wisdom for his young audience, Trump battered them with political bullsh*t that they couldn’t care less about. They rarely applauded his raving madness that included the following…

“We are making deals with other nations that were not even –nobody thought it would be possible.”
Trump hasn’t made a single trade deal to mitigate his ludicrous, inflationary tariffs. He just has a framework with the UK, and some discussions with China. Nothing finalized with them or the nearly 200 other countries that he tariffed.

“We won 2750 districts against 505. 2750 against 505. We had a great mandate and it gives us the right to do what we want to do.”
The districts he won were mostly sparsely populated rural areas. The districts won by Kamala Harris were densely populated cities. And winning an election does not give you the right to violate the law or the Constitution, as Trump does every day.

“I was investigated more than the great, late Alphonse Capone. Alphonse Capone was a monster.”
Trump loves to brag that he is a worse “monster” than the notorious mob boss, Al Capone. Which is true. Trump has a couple of dozen more felony convictions than Capone, and is responsible for more death.

“The job of the U.S. Armed forces is not to host drag shows, to transform foreign cultures, but to spread democracy to everybody around the world at the point of a gun.”
So Trump thinks that it’s his job to threaten all other countries to accept his perverse brand of democracy at “the point of gun.” That’s the rhetoric of a mad tyrant who wants to rule the world. And it’s consistent with his talk of invading and/or annexing Mexico, Canada, and Greenland.

Hopefully the West Point Cadets can shake this off and get on their lives without this staining their day of accomplishment and pride. It’s too bad they didn’t have the far better, more inspirational, more intelligent, commencement speaker that the University of Maryland was lucky enough to get…

Trump Celebrates the House Passing His ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ in the Most Trumpian Way – By Lying

In a bizarre, overnight spectacle, the Republicans in the House of Representatives held a debate and vote on a budget bill that Donald Trump ordered to them call the “Big Beautiful Bill.” (BBB) They conducted these proceedings under the cover of darkness, presumably because they are too ashamed of the abomination that they are trying to shove down the throat of the nation to do it in the light of day.

The BBB barely passed on a party line vote of 215-214. If it weren’t for two recently deceased Democratic representatives, the bill might have failed. Trump’s loyal MAGA cult disciples in the House caved in to voting for the bill, even though several had previously insisted that they could not support a deficit exploding bill that violated their conservative “principles.” In the end, the cult and it’s Dear Leader, came first.

For his part, Trump celebrated the passage of the BBB in a rambling rant posted on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. Unable to contain his glee, Trump wrote that…

“‘THE ONE, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL’ has PASSED the House of Representatives! This is arguably the most significant piece of Legislation that will ever be signed in the History of our Country!”

True to form, Trump’s comment was a stream of superheated hyperbole. In his mind there is nothing that he does that doesn’t surpass everything else of its kind in the history of human endeavors. However, he may be right this time, although not in the way he thinks. Because the BBB could be “the most significant piece of Legislation,” at least in modern times.

The bill is one Big Abhorrent Act of Betrayal to the American people. As Trump wrote in his comment, “the Bill includes MASSIVE Tax CUTS.” What he neglects to mention is that they are all for his wealthy pals and corporations. Meanwhile, his bill cuts benefits and services to the needy and middle class, including Medicaid and Medicare.

After “weaving” interminably, Trump closed his harangue with an impotent swing at his Democratic opponents…

“The Democrats have lost control of themselves, and are aimlessly wandering around, showing no confidence, grit, or determination. They have forgotten their landslide loss in the Presidential Election”

Let’s set aside Trump’s delusional and relentlessly repeated nonsense that his historically narrow victory was a landslide. His even more preposterous claim that Democrats are “aimlessly wandering around” and lacking in “confidence, grit, or determination,” is belied by the vigorous opposition to the bill by Democratic representatives throughout the night, and by the response to the BBB’s passage by Democratic Majority Leader Hakeem Jeffries who said that…

“We will stand up today, stand up tomorrow, stand up this week, stand up next week, stand up this month, stand up next month, stand up this year, stand up next year, stand up at all times until we end this national nightmare and restore the American dream for every single person.”

Trump’s giddiness over the BBB’s passage was shared by his Propaganda Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, who offered a ludicrous description of the bill as having “common sense and massively popular policies,” and regurgitated Trump’s flagrant lie that…

“The one big beautiful bill also helps get our fiscal house in order by carrying out the largest deficit reduction in nearly 30 years, with $1.6 trillion in mandatory savings.”

The only way that Leavitt could arrive at that number is by neglecting to include all of the tax cuts for the rich and other measures that wiped out revenue, such as firing IRS agents who collect billions of dollars from wealthy tax cheats. She also left out the fact that the “mandatory savings” included slashing Medicare benefits. Leavitt was fact-checked by PolitiFact on this. They rated her assessment “False,” saying that “the bill would increase deficits by $3 trillion to $4 trillion over the next decade.”

There was so much more wrong with this bill that it’s impossible to summarize. But comedian Jimmy Kimmel did a pretty good job of it Wednesday night. He began by saying that “This “Big Beautiful Bill” literally takes from the poor and gives to the rich, brazenly. Republicans like the robbin’ part, just not the hood.” And it just got better from there…

GET OUT OF HERE! Crybaby Trump Blows Up at NBC Reporter and Threatens to Investigate the Network

This week the White House hosted the children of reporters in observance of “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.” The kids asked some pretty probing questions that Trump’s press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, quickly replied to with the hallmark dishonesty of her boss and his administration.

Donald Trump Angry

The curiosity and maturity of the young reporters at this event made it abundantly clear that the biggest baby in the White House is, and will always be, Donald Trump. And he provided further evidence of that (as if any were necessary) in the Oval Office the next day with the president of South Africa. During this diplomatic meeting Trump reminded everyone that his primary concerns are always petty grievances and seeking retribution.

When Trump turned to the gathered press corps for questions, the first one came from NBC’s Chief White House Correspondent, Peter Alexander. The exchange that followed was a pure Trumpian temper tantrum that an eight year old wouldn’t have tried to pull off (video below).

Alexander: The Pentagon announced that it will be accepting the Qatari jet to be used as Air Force One.
Trump: What are you talking about? You oughta get outta here. What does this have to do with the Qatari jet? They are giving the United States Air Force a jet. Okay? And it’s a great thing. We’re talking about a lot of other things, and It’s NBC trying to get off the subject of what you just saw.

Setting aside Trump’s “3 Stooges” style demand that Alexander “oughta get outta here (nyuk, nyuk, nyuk),” Trump whined about having been asked about a matter that is currently in the news. He seems to think that reporters are out of line if they ask him questions about breaking news stories. And without even letting Alexander get to his question, Trump unloaded a reply that just repeated his prior lies about the jet being given to the Air Force. That’s only a layover until Trump leaves office and it is transferred to his library. And then he went on to insult Alexander saying that…

“You know, you are a terrible reporter. You don’t have what it takes to be a reporter. You’re not smart enough. For you to go into a subject about a jet that was given to the United States Air Force, which is a very nice thing. They also gave $5.1 trillion worth of investment in addition to the jet.

Trump watchers will recognize this as typical Trumpian projection, wherein he accuses others of what are his own failings. He was saying, in effect, “I am a terrible president. I don’t have what it takes to be a president. I’m not smart enough.” Which he follows with a lie that Qatar “gave” the U.S. $5.1 trillion. There was no gift of anything like that. And the business deals that Trump was likely referring to were actually made during the Biden administration. But he still wasn’t through. In fact, he was just getting to the best part…

“You ought to go back to your studio at NBC because Brian Roberts [Chairman and CEO of NBC parent Comcast] and the people that run that place, they ought to be investigated. They are so terrible the way you run that network. And you’re a disgrace. No more questions from you. His name is Peter something. He’s a terrible reporter. Quiet. Quiet!

So in addition to maligning Alexander’s reporting skills, Trump is also threatening the network with investigations. He doesn’t say for what, but in Trump World there doesn’t need to be a valid legal predicate for persecuting his political foes. And he has already launched probes aimed at silencing and/or intimidating several other reporters and networks. It’s what aspiring dictators – and cult leaders – do.

Hopefully NBC won’t succumb to the totalitarian tactics of Trump, the way that other media outlets already have (ABC, CBS, and the Washington Post). History – and Trump’s past behavior – tells us that when you capitulate to bullies, they only want more more capitulation. But when you stand up to them, they crumble. STAND UP!

Trump’s Propaganda Secretary Lies to Children on ‘Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day’

On Karoline Leavitt’s first day on the job, she told reporters in the White House press briefing room that she was committed to “telling the truth from this podium every single day.” That may be the first official lie of Leavitt’s tenure as Donald Trump’s press secretary.

The torrent of falsehoods emanating from Leavitt ever since has affirmed Trump’s choice to hire her as his media mouthpiece. She has been more than able and willing to disseminate his shameless distortions and deceit no matter how distant from the truth or even reality. Leavitt has proven to be the perfect redistribution vehicle for Trump’s daily delivery of garbage. And she made sure that the press corps that is permitted to attend briefings was cleansed of troublemakers who dared to ask real questions that challenged her or Trump.

That atmosphere of contrived pro-Trump bias was inspired by the authoritarian regimes of Trump’s idols, Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jong Un, who are staunchly opposed to freedom of the press. The result has been that many of the press briefings in the White House have been dominated by ultra-rightist partisans, some of whom have actually been affiliated with Russian media.

Leavitt’s commitment to dishonesty was on display again on Tuesday when the White House observed “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.” The press briefing room was filled with kids in the seats that were ordinarily reserved for journalists, or what the Trump regime considered to be journalists. It was actually kind of adorable, until Leavitt began to answer the questions posed by the children. What follows are a few examples of how Leavitt retained her determination to lie, even to kid “reporters.”

Question: How many people has he fired?
Leavitt: Thus far we have not had anyone fired with the exception of one individual who did leave their job.

FACT: The Trump administration has had thousands of honest, hard working staffers fired from dozens of government agencies. Many of those people were responsible for preserving the health, safety, and lives of Americans, and others around the world.

Question: What is Trump’s favorite room in the White House?
Leavitt: I think his favorite room in the White House is definitely the Oval Office because it’s so beautiful and he has decked it out in gold. It’s now MAGA gold in there.

FACT: Leavitt explains that Trump’s favorite room in the White House is the Oval Office. Not because it’s where important decisions are made that impact the nation and the world. But because he has turned it into a gaudy replica of his Mar-a-Lago home/hotel with faux gold that resembles a tasteless king’s palace. And plastering the Oval Office with a partisan “MAGA gold” further politicizes the People’s House.

Question: What is Trump going to do about climate change?
Leavitt: That’s a very good question. The President cares very much about our environment. He says all the time he wants to have the cleanest air, the cleanest water, the cleanest environment for the world. He also cares very much about our energy independence and ensuring that we can keep the lights on in our homes at a very cheap rate. So we want to make energy here in the United States because we do it cleaner and better than everyone.

FACT: Notice that the question asked was about climate change, but Leavitt never mentioned that in her response. She referred only to the environment. Maybe that’s because Trump has called climate change a hoax manufactured by China. And his Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, bellowed that “the Department of Defense does not do climate change crap.” And Trump’s remarks about the environment are just cover for his advocacy of fossil fuels that exacerbate climate change, make the environment (and people) less healthy, and produce dirtier air and water.

It’s bad enough that Leavitt and Trump lie so brazenly to adults. But this performance for kids is a nauseating example of how bereft they are of any morality or decency. The parents of those children – presumably the reporters who are usually in those seats – should make a point of admonishing Leavitt for lying to their kids.
