For contrast, Donald Trump has always put himself before country and every other concern that wasn’t directly associated with his selfish aspirations for money or power or self-aggrandizement. Not to mention his compulsion to avoid going to prison. His malignant narcissism is so severe that he has openly expressed an explicit desire for catastrophes that would harm millions of Americans if it helped him in some way.

On Monday morning Trump sought to exploit a decline in the stock market for his personal, political benefit. He posted a comment on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, whose purpose could only be interpreted as a deliberate attempt to stoke needless panic and turn a small market dip into major disaster. He wrote that…

“Of course there is a massive market downturn. Kamala is even worse than Crooked Joe. Markets will NEVER accept the Radical Left Lunatic that DESTROYED San Francisco and California, as a whole. Next move, THE GREAT DEPRESSION OF 2024! You can’t play games with MARKETS. KAMALA CRASH!!!”

This is just plain weird, as well as flagrantly untrue. First of all, if Trump wants to blame Harris for the wealth and prosperity of San Francisco and California, she probably won’t mind. Secondly, if the performance of the stock market is a reflection of the Biden/Harris administration, then it’s pretty good reason to vote for Harris and every other Democrat on the ballot. Thirdly, Trump is crawling out onto a pretty weak limb with his fear mongering about a “GREAT DEPRESSION.”

For the record, there was a real stock market crash in late 2008 during the GW Bush term that took the markets down 37%. The S&P index is down only about 2% today, and only 6% from its all time high. That’s a minor and expected correction from the 17% rise in the past year, and the 36% gain since Biden and Harris took office. What’s more, markets worldwide are also down about 2%. Does Trump think that Biden and Harris are also the leaders of every other country on the planet?

Financial experts know that markets are not driven by presidential politics. The gains and losses are due to the performance of the companies that comprise the indexes and the broader state of the economy. Which in this case is firing on all cylinders. Profits are at record highs. More jobs have been created than at any time in modern history. Manufacturing has returned to the U.S. from foreign shores. Wages are rising faster than inflation.

For a look at what bad management does to a company on the stock exchange, take a look at Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG: ticker DJT) that is the parent corporation of Truth Social. While the broader markets are down about 2% today, DJT is down 8%. Furthermore, it is down a whopping 34% since it went public just four moths ago.

Trump’s fear mongering is not just purposefully dishonest, it’s downright dangerous. He is trying to create a worse outcome by driving people to panic. He actually wants America to fail, and for people to get hurt, in order to prop himself up politically. And his cronies in Congress are playing along.

Trump seems to know that the only way he can win is for the American people to suffer. So he’s doing everything he can to produce that result. And anyone who is considering voting for him better reconsider. He’s not on your side. He’s only for himself. And he has no solutions to any of the problems that real people are facing. He has only whining, lying and fear mongering.

UPDATE I: The day following the “massive market downturn” that Trump said was leading to a “GREAT DEPRESSION,” the market gained back more than half of the prior day’s decline.
UPDATE II: Three days after Trump’s “GREAT DEPRESSION,” prediction, the market has recovered more than its losses. It is now higher than it was on before his gloomy and ridiculous prediction.

Fox News is Still Pushing the Lie that the 2020 Election Was Stolen that Cost Them $787 Million

Two years ago Fox News agreed to a record setting settlement with Dominion Voting Systems for engaging in blatant defamation against the company. The settlement came after pre-trial discovery that uncovered abundant and unambiguous evidence of Fox News executives and hosts blatantly lying about the 2020 presidential election being stolen from Donald Trump.

Two years later, and after having to fork over $787 million bucks, Fox News is still disseminating the same lies. These were not merely differences of opinion. There were documents that proved that Fox personnel were making public comments on the air that were diametrically opposed to what they were saying to one another in private.

This deceit and hypocrisy is still going on today. On Sunday morning, Fox News Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, interviewed Trump’s running mate, JD Vance. In the course of her questioning, she asked him about the repeatedly debunked allegations of election fraud in 2020…

Bartiromo: President (sic) Trump continues to say that the 2020 election was stolen. He told me that again in this interview. How comfortable are you, in terms of the progress being made by the RNC and republicans, saying that, in fact, we will have a fair election this November?
Vance: Well, I think we’re making a lot of progress, Maria. […] The basic principle here is every American citizen’s vote should count. but if you’re not an American citizen, and you’re not casting a legal ballot, you’re vote shouldn’t count. Right? It’s sort of common sense that the Republican Party believes in. And interestingly, the Democrats seem to want illegal aliens to have the right to vote.

Notice that Bartiromo’s reference to Trump regurgitating his “Big Lie” was not to illicit a response to that flagrant dishonesty, but to deflect to a more vague inquiry about fair elections. In effect, she was validating Trump’s utterly fictional premise that the 2020 election was stolen. And consequently, she was implying that there would a be similar act of election theft in 2024.

Vance, of course, totally bought into Bartiromo’s narrative. Why shouldn’t he? He was asked a leading question by a biased Trump flunky, and he happily took the bait. But that’s not all. Vance furthered the dishonest narrative by extending the lie to accusations that undocumented immigrants were somehow responsible for stealing elections. And of course, he accused Democrats of advocating for that. Vance has no evidence to support those reckless and dangerous assertions, and neither does Bartiromo, who didn’t bother to point out that Vance was making stuff up.

Clearly Fox News has learned nothing from their having to pay out hundreds of millions of dollars for purposefully lying. Except maybe that they refrained from attaching their lies to a specific entity that could make a claim of defamation. They are more careful now to sanitize their deceit to avoid legal liability. But they are no less deceitful.

And yet, Fox News – and Trump and his MAGA team – will continue to pursue this path of pernicious lies, despite the fact that their efforts are obvious and tired rehashes of tactics that have failed in the past. They have nothing of substance to make their case, so they resort to desperation and fear mongering. And while it is surely not going to work, it is going make the next few months more annoying as these weirdos wallow in the slime.

Trump Chickens Out of the Debate with Kamala Harris and Proposes a New One on Fox News

The 2024 presidential election cycle promises to be historically significant for many reasons that historians will recall with awe and wonder. That will not be just because it led to the election of Kamala Harris, America’s first woman president, who is also Black and South Asian. It will be partly because these historians will also recall 2024 with anguish, and too often, laughter, due solely to efforts of Donald Trump and his acutely psychotic narcissism and authoritarian aspirations.

The core personal feature that Trump has struggled to present to the nation for the past several years is what he regards as his uncommon strength and bravery for taking on the forces of evil on behalf of the peasants that he seeks to lead and protect. Never mind that he relentlessly acts out his pitiful victimhood and has literally bragged about being “the most fabulous whiner.”

Trump: “I am the most fabulous whiner. I do whine, because I want to win. I am a whiner and I keep whining and whining until I win.”

Trump has now offered another example of his innate cowardice by backing out of a previously agreed upon debate with Harris. And he did so with his typically incoherent and egomaniacal flair that has become a hallmark of his severely flawed character. The manner of his retreat is worth a deeper dive because it says so much about him and his self-serving motivations that belie any claim to courage.

It all began with a pair of posts (here and here) on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social that started off with – surprise – a lie. He then continued to misrepresent everything related to him backing out of the only debate that was actually agreed upon. What follows is a point-by-point factual breakdown of Trump’s emotional breakdown.

“I have agreed with FoxNews to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th.”

While Trump may have agreed with Fox News, he did not agree with Harris. He didn’t even discuss it with her. He merely stated his desire to schedule a debate hosted by his Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News, on his preferred date, with his choice of moderators (Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum), and his conditions that it be held in an arena with a live audience. That’s because he requires constant feedback from his cult disciples to nourish his ego and waste airtime with sycophantic cheering. He went on…

“The Debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated in that Biden will no longer be a participant, and I am in litigation against ABC Network and George Slopadopoulos, thereby creating a conflict of interest.”

Trump claims that the original debate agreement “has been terminated,” as if someone other than he himself has terminated it. In other words, he’s quitting. Also, his complaint that the ABC debate can’t go forward because of a lawsuit he has filed against ABC and George Stephanopoulos (whose name Trump mangles in his typically infantile manner) is ridiculous. That lawsuit was already in progress when he agreed to the debate in the first place. Why wasn’t it a conflict of interest then?

“[Trump] is asserting that Stephanopoulos defamed him by referencing the rape charge. But Stephanopoulos was merely reporting the findings by the judge in the case where Trump was recently found liable for sexually assaulting writer, E. Jean Carroll.”

“As everyone knows, the Democrats have Unconstitutionally taken a Candidate, who was acknowledged to be defeated, and unceremoniously replaced him with a new Candidate.”

“As everyone knows” there is nothing unconstitutional about the Democratic Party choosing its own candidates in a manner they see fit. The Constitution doesn’t even mention how parties select their candidates. What’s more, Biden voluntarily stepped aside, putting the country before his personal interests, and endorsed Harris. Which doesn’t require a ceremony. It was an act of selflessness that was greeted with unprecedented enthusiasm from Democrats, Independents, and even some disaffected Republicans.

“This has never been done before, and is a Threat to Democracy, but I am totally prepared to accept the results of this ‘coup,’ and replace Joe on the Debate stage with Crazy Kamala Harris.”

Trump is the “Threat to Democracy” and only accuses Democrats of it as part of his childish “I know you are but what am I” campaign strategy. And his willingness to “accept” Harris as his opponent is hysterical. He has no choice in the matter. Although his reference to a “coup” is rather curious because it will just remind people of the one that he instigated on January 6, 2021. Also, he has apparently settled on his witless nickname for Harris as “Crazy,” after “Laffin'” and “Lyin'” fell flat. But “Crazy” is a recycled nickname that he has previously attached to women such as Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Maxine Waters, and Mika Brzezinski.

I spent Hundreds of Millions of Dollars, Time, and Effort fighting Joe, and when I won the Debate, they threw a new Candidate into the ring. Not fair.”

Trump closes by complaining about the money he’s spent so far on his campaign, which almost surely was not “Hundreds of Millions of Dollars.” He’s spent most of his campaign funds on his lawyers and the multimillion dollar judgments against him for financial fraud and sexual assault. But he makes sure to whine at the very end by saying that it – like everything else that doesn’t go his way – was “Not fair.” Now Trump is using this to chicken out and invent another debate, which appears to be on the advice of Sean Hannity of Fox News.

Hannity: “Maybe it’s time for Trump to reject any appearance at ABC. For example, why would he show up at their debate if these ‘journalists’ clearly have opinion want to debate Trump themselves? Maybe he should just accept the Fox News Channel’s offer to debate?”

UPDATE: Trump posted yet another comment about the debate that reeks of fear. In it he says that “Kamala Harris doesn’t have the mental capacity to do a REAL Debate against me, scheduled for September 4th.” So he is resorting again to childish insults and lies. Harris will demonstrate her mental capacity for him if he bothers to show up for any debate. But as of now, the only one that is scheduled is on September 10, to be hosted by ABC News. Trump’s comment also said “I’ll see her on September 4th or, I won’t see her at all.” So what happened to “any time, anywhere, any place”?

For the record, the Kamala Harris campaign has already responded to Trump’s cowardly refusal to honor his original agreement…

Trump and Fox News Attack Kamala Harris for Praising Diplomacy that Freed Prisoners From Russia

It was an occasion that inspired pride and gratitude across the nation for the historic diplomatic achievement that made it possible for these families to be reunited in freedom.

Sadly, there were pockets of unpatriotic dissenters who weren’t particularly happy about any of this. And no one will be surprised to learn that Donald Trump and Fox News led the contingent of malcontents that found only gloom in the news that the rest of the country celebrated. They have a distinct predilection for opposition to anything benefitting their political foes, no matter how good it is for the country.

Trump has provided an abundance of evidence of this compulsively anti-American psychosis that has infected the MAGA movement. And on Friday morning he confirmed it with a post to his floundering social media scam, Truth Social. It came in the form of Fox News meme that declared “Kamala Harris ripped for word salad about ‘diplomacy’ as she makes unscripted comments.”

The first notable dishonesty in the graphic that Trump posted was what was left out of the title. It linked to a Fox News article that offered a bit more detail about the source of the allegation that Harris was “ripped.” The full headline read “JD Vance rips Kamala Harris for more word salad — ‘significance of the power of diplomacy'” So for some reason they found it necessary to hide the fact that it was Trump’s weird VP running mate that was maligning Harris.

More to the point, the complaint that Trump and Fox News have about Harris’ remarks is profoundly petty and a deliberate misinterpretation of reality. Harris’s comments were a gracious and appropriate compliment praising the work of those who secured the freedom of the unjustly held prisoners. She said that…

“This is an extraordinary day and I’m very thankful for our president. This is just an extraordinary testament to the importance of having a president who understands the power of diplomacy and understands the strength that rests in understanding the significance of diplomacy and strengthening alliances. This is an incredible day and you can see it in the families and in their eyes.”

Word Salad? Trump doesn’t know the meaning of the words. Literally. Despite the fact that his public statements are – as he might describe them – the best word salads ever at a level that no one has ever seen before.

In the hours since the release of the former prisoners, Trump has only briefly expressed any gratitude. And even that was just to preface his criticisms. However, he has disgorged a flurry of furious complaints and insults. He said that “Our ‘negotiators’ are always an embarrassment to us!” He falsely implied that the Biden administration paid for the release and was encouraging future hostage taking. And he described it as “a win for Putin.” Which is peculiar because that should be something that Trump would approve of, given his allegiance to, and infatuation with, the the Russian dictator.

Trump’s hostile reaction to any good news for America that occurs while Biden is still President, is as abhorrent as it is predictable. He has a confirmed “Blame America First” mentality. In his twisted mind, anyone other than him is an idiot who hates the country. And if you’re looking for a good example of projection, you just found it.

All day Monday Trump unloaded another barrage of venomous vitriol. This time the target of his tantrum included his very own Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News. It’s not the first time that Trump has lashed out at his MAGA media network, even as he is simultaneously gracing it with his noxious presence on the programs of his loyal sycophants such as Sean Hannity, Jesse Watters, Laura Ingraham, and the “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends. But it was one of his most vicious and sustained assaults. He began by posting the following inquiry…

“Why is FoxNews putting on Crazy Kamala Harris Rallies? Why do they allow the perverts at the failed and disgraced Lincoln Project to advertise on FoxNews? Even Mr. Kellyanne Conway, a man so badly hurt and humiliated by his wife (she must have done some really NASTY things to him, because he is CRAZY!), is advertising on FoxNews. We have to WIN WITHOUT FOX!”

From Trump’s perverse perspective, an alleged “news” network should not be covering the campaign of the Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee for president, Kamala Harris. [Note: He’s also changed his nickname for her again, from “Laffin'” to “Lyin'” and now “Crazy Kamala”]. Then he whines about Fox News having sold advertising time to his critics. It must be awful for the “most fabulous whiner” (his words), to have to watch these blisteringly accurate presentations of him…

in response to this affront to his massive, yet fragile, ego, Trump let loose 37 posts on Truth Social. They were mostly weird memes with QAnon themes proclaiming Trump as the messiah or Democrats as evil. Some of the bizarre messages implied that the FBI “ordered the assassination” of Trump; said that January 6th was “an inside job;” called Harris a “Cackling Moron;” called Nancy Pelosi “Batshit Crazy;” and declared that Trump is “what god has ordained.”

Also interspersed among these ravings were meme’s that expressed Trump’s malice toward Fox News, including “Scr*w you FOX!;” “Who needs RINO FoxNews?;” “I don’t watch Fox News.;” and “Who needs Fake FOX & CO?” One example that just oozed his seething fear made the outlandish accusation that Fox News hosts Neil Cavuto and Shannon Bream are “On the Soros Payroll.”

That ought to be enough to convince most people that Trump is suffering from deep-seated anxieties and dread of the foreboding future that awaits him politically and legally. But sadly, there are those who have been indoctrinated into the Trump cult who can’t be convinced of anything, regardless of the abundant evidence. They are lost and irredeemable.

Let them go. There are still many more who remain rational and willing to join the reality-based community that will reject Trump’s egomaniacal totalitarianism and embrace the hope and honesty that Kamala Harris and the Democrats are offering. The next few months will be a bit nerve-racking, but with hard work and devotion to the principles that make America great, the result be a gratifying victory. Stay strong and true.

HUH? Addled Trump Urges His Cult Followers to Vote AND to Not Vote as He Aims to End Democracy

His presence at any affair will always test the limits of lunacy, and this race is no exception. And the divisions just became even more apparent with President Biden passing the torch to Vice-President Kamala Harris.

There are unique difficulties encountered when running against someone whose chief skills are lying and pandering to meathead cult disciples who are eager to be lied to. In this environment a sociopathic narcissist can fake a populist agenda that appeals to the lower rung racists and intellectual deficients of society. Which is exactly what Trump has managed to do. MAGA devotees openly admit that Trump is not only their political, but also their spiritual guiding star.

With that in mind, it is understandable, albeit frightening, how thoroughly entranced the Trump cultists are. It’s a mass delusional community that can’t recognize even the most flagrant falsehoods and hypocrisies. A couple of recent Trump rallies have provided a chilling example of that blind adoration with respect to his advice on participatory democracy. Note the overt contradictions in the quotes below…

[June 22] “I want the steal stopped. Because we don’t need the votes. We have the votes. We have more votes than we need. What we need – I tell these guys, I tell the RNC, I tell Michael {Whatley], I tell Lara [Trump}, I don’t care, We have all the votes.”

[July 26] “Christians, get out and vote, just this time. You won’t have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed. It will be fine. You won’t have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians. I’m [???] Christian. I love you. Get out – you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote.”

So in the first quote Trump is unburdening his believers from the bother of voting because he insists that he already has more than enough votes to beat Harris. How he “knows” that is a mystery. But even if he had some rational reasoning, it would still be preposterous to discourage your supporters from going to the polls.

However, Trump threw another curveball with the additional comments he made imploring his faithful to vote. That’s right. The same people he previously said that he doesn’t need. In this statement Trump not only reverses course saying that he does need them, but that if they comply this time, they won’t ever have to do it again. Which is his way of assuring them that his victory this year will be a permanent one that results in his ascension to dictator/messiah.

It’s also notable how he refers to the the people whose votes he is now soliciting as “my beautiful Christians.” Compare that to how he refers to Jewish voters when he insults them saying that “Any Jewish person who votes for Kamala, or a Democrat, should immediately have their head examined.” So in Trump’s mind, Christians are “beautiful,” but Jews are psychotic.

You have to wonder what Trump’s cult worshippers are going to do in November. His advice in both of the quotes above is blatantly anti-democratic and anti-American. It is, however, pro-demagogue and advocates for capitulating to crackpot potentates.

So will Trump’s flock abstain from voting because they aren’t needed? Or will they vote with the hope of electing a tyrant? It’s too soon to tell. But it isn’t too soon to declare them all deplorables who can’t think for themselves so they surrender their free will to an aspiring authoritarian, and they abandon their principles to a convicted felon, financial fraudster, and adjudicated rapist. And between now and election day they will pray that Trump tells them in less confusing language what they should do.

Trump has resumed his role as a call-in co-host on Fox News where his slobbering sycophantic pals on Fox and Friends provide him with free airtime to unload his mendacious musings. It’s an open forum for rage-casting and unhinged bashing of Democrats, especially the presumptive nominee for president, Kamala Harris.

On Thursday’s program, Trump held the “Curvy Couch” potatoes enrapt in his uniquely incoherent rambling. He predictably whined about his legal tribulations that he now blames entirely on Harris, who he slanders as “a radical, left, not very smart person.” Which is such a “smart” way of articulating that alleged thought. He also told his cult not to bother voting for him because he already has all the votes he needs. Another “smart” move on Trump’s part.

However, perhaps Trump’s most bizarre bit of blather was his lecture on the legal consequences of flag desecration. Trump offered his opinion in response to Americans protesting Netanyahu and the war in Gaza, some of whom burned flags. He said that such behavior should be severely punished, and anyone who disagreed with him is “stupid.”

“I think you should get a one year jail sentence if you do anything to desecrate the American flag. Now, people will say, ‘Oh, it’s unconstitutional.’ Those are stupid people. Those are stupid people that say that.” [and that] “Putin and President Xi of China, all over the world they’re watching this. Kim Jong Un […] That wouldn’t happen in their countries. It’s impossible for that to happen in their country.”

First of all, the Supreme Court has ruled that flag burning is, in fact, protected speech under the Constitution. Not that Trump cares about the Constitution. Secondly, Trump’s use of brutal dictators as examples of appropriate responses to such speech is typical of his own totalitarian aspirations. He hopes to impose the same sort of oppression here in America.

But what makes his remarks so astonishingly preposterous is that his own cult followers are the worst offenders of flag desecration. The United States Flag Code states in part that…

  • “The flag should never be used as wearing apparel.”
  • “The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.”
  • “The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever.”

Anyone who has seen the videos of Trump’s traveling salvation shows knows that his cult shows up regaled in flag attire. They wave flags defaced with his scowling mug and other representations of his MAGA movement. And Trump himself markets products (shoes, NFTs, bibles, etc.) with Old Glory plastered on them. Should everyone – including Trump – be incarcerated for a year for these offenses?

And that’s not all. What about the violent insurrectionists, that Trump calls “hostages,” who used flags on poles to attack police officers on January 6, 2021? Should they get an additional year added on to their sentences for rioting and assault?

Don’t expect Trump or any of his surrogates to answer these questions. They really couldn’t care less. Trump’s only purpose in proposing this is to attract attention and to tickle the fury of his feeble-minded fans. And if there were any justice, Trump would already be in prison for crimes much worse than the flag desecration he’s exploiting now.

Fox News, Maria Bartiromo, Donald Trump

Now it’s the Republican Party that is awash with anxiety over their pitiful and unpopular candidate, the convicted felon and adjudicated rapist, Donald Trump. And now he is the only candidate that bears the stigma of advanced age and conspicuous cognitive corrosion. As a result, the GOP is scrambling frantically to reconstruct their defunct campaign strategy that was carefully designed to defame Biden.

Fortunately for the failing Trump team (or unfortunately as it’s likely to turn out), their Ministry of Propaganda (aka Fox News) is stepping up to fill in the vacuum left by the GOP’s loss of Biden as a target for their smears. The Fox crew has spent the past 72 hours brainstorming approaches to shatter the excitement that Harris’ promotion has generated. And the best that they have come up with so far is that she laughs.

On Wednesday morning, Fox’s Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, took a stab at fortifying Trump’s defense. And you have to hand it to her for taking such a bold stance on behalf of her Dear Leader. Bartiromo’s plan was to align herself and Trump with the China state media operation that has long favored Trump over Democrats and democracy. She said that…

Chinese state media is reportedly slamming Vice-President Kamala Harris’ performance in the White House as mediocre, saying she lacks the experience and achievements to serve as president.

So there you have it. Fox News is acting as China’s affiliate in America to dispense their anti-American screed. If the Chinese press considers Harris “mediocre,” then that’s good enough for Bartiromo and Fox News. Never mind that Harris’ experience and achievements are well documented and impressive. The state-run press of China thinks that they are lacking, so Fox needs to apprise Trump’s cult followers of this breaking “news.”

And that’s not all. Bartiromo’s guest for this segment was GOP Rep. Mark Green, chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security. He joined in proudly saying that “I’m agreeing with China on this” Which is typical of today’s Republican Party that can’t resist aligning itself with America’s autocratic enemies. Trump himself regularly brags about his friendship with, and admiration for, China’s Xi Jinping, North Korea’s Kin Jong Un, and of course, Russia’s Vladimir Putin.

It isn’t surprising that Fox News would unleash vicious attacks on Harris or any other Democratic politician. In fact, it’s expected of them. That has been their mission from the beginning. But it is a bit more unnerving to see them recite and embrace propaganda directly disseminated by China’s state media. How far do they have to go before they are required to register as foreign agents? Trump crossed that line long ago. And he is dragging Fox News and the Republican Party over that line more with each passing day.

Donald Trump Pacifier Fox

In that same short period of time, Harris’ opponent, Donald Trump, has exhibited an array of acute psychoses triggered by his inbred cowardice and innate inability to confront a competent, compassionate leader whose intelligence and moral character intimidates him. That’s especially true when that leader is a woman – a Black woman. Under such trying circumstances, Trump’s notorious weaknesses pour out in the most bizarre and pathetic ways…

In the first few hours following Biden’s announcement, Trump behaved as if he was still running against the President, posting numerous comments on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social. But eventually someone on his nursing staff advised him that he has a new opponent. And with that Trump commenced an onslaught of vitriol and infantile tirades aimed at Harris. None of which contained any shred of truth or rationality. He began with this expression of surprise…

“Wow, just watching the Fake News, and they’re doing their very best to turn the Worst President in the History of our Country into a ‘Brilliant and Heroic Leader’ (He was heroic because he quit!), and to turn ‘Dumb as a Rock’ Kamala Harris from a totally failed and insignificant Vice President into a future ‘Great’ President. No, it just doesn’t work that way!”

There’s a boatload of malarkey in that commentary. First of all, Trump’s characterization of Biden is certifiably false. A survey of 154 presidential historians ranked Biden in the top third of U.S. presidents. They ranked Trump dead last. Secondly, Biden’s display of courage and patriotism was recognized in his selfless devotion to his country over his personal interests. Thirdly, Trump reverts to his natural obnoxiousness by insulting Harris’ intelligence and distinguished record of accomplishments.

But Trump’s reprehensible ranting was just getting warmed up. He went on to introduce his new nickname for Harris, “Lyin’ Kamala,” a pejorative prefix he has recycled several times already (e.g. Hillary, Comey, Cruz). he criticized her for her work on the border, which was never a part of her portfolio as vice-president (she was a diplomatic liaison to the Northern Triangle countries of Central America). He mocked her “terrible pole (sic) numbers.” And he laughably described himself as a “brilliant young man.” Yeah, he’s a regular prodigy.

However, perhaps the best indication of how deeply disturbed Trump is by the elevation of Harris, he is floating potential excuses to chicken out of the already scheduled debate in September. In fact, this is the second time that he has suggested that he wouldn’t participate. The first time he proposed that the debate be moved from ABC News to Fox News. Now he’s doubling down for no reason other than that he’s scared to show up at any forum that isn’t hosted by his Ministry of Propaganda. He raged that…

“ABC Fake News is such a joke, among the absolute WORST in the business. They try to make Crooked Joe into a brave warrior because he didn’t have the ‘guts’ to fight it out — He quit! They then tried to make ‘Sleepy’ look like a great President – he was the WORST, and Lyin’ Kamala into a competent person, which she is not. ABC, the home of George Slopadopolus, is not worthy of holding a Debate, of which I hope there will be many! MAGA2024”

Clearly Trump is terrified by the prospect of debating Harris and is desperately searching for a way out. And bone spurs likely won’t do the trick this time. Although he may have let slip what is actually driving his dread when he posted a comment saying that “Lyin’ Kamala Harris destroys everything she touches!” That would explain his trepidation. He’s afraid that if he does show up for the debate that she will destroy him. And in that respect his fear is well warranted and you can’t really blame him for wanting to hide out at his Mar-a-Lago bunker.

Trump Brags (Lies) About His Low Rated, Lie-Riddled RNC Speech that Put His Audience to Sleep

In the days preceding Donald Trump’s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, the media generously regurgitated the GOP fairy tale that Trump would be rebranding himself as a uniter with a calm, rational approach to governing. Never mind that this is the umpteenth time that Trump was supposedly going to pivot to a new persona that is light years from anything he has shown for decades.

How the press justified spreading that malarkey is a mystery considering that Trump has never been anything but a divisive purveyor of rabid hostility and infantile insults aimed at anyone – Democratic or Republican – who was not sufficiently worshipful. His idea of unity means to unite behind his messianic eminence. It is not so much about bringing people together as it is about purging every dissenter.

When it came time for Trump to deliver his highly anticipated unification speech, he didn’t disappoint the critics who knew at the outset that he couldn’t pull off that sort of transformation. What he unleashed to the glassy-eyed cult disciples in the convention hall was a stream-of-consciousness harangue that went on for 96 minutes without ever providing a single policy proposal or affirmative vision for the future. It was nothing more than a rehash of his America-bashing rally rants, except spoken in a slower, more stodgy style.

So no one should be surprised that Trump was ecstatic about his own performance. He posted a couple of comments on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, exalting himself and lying about his reception by the public. He began by bragging about…

“Big TV RATINGS last night for the Republican Convention, the best and most successful in history! Fox led the way. MSNBC was dead last. Four Great Days!!!”

Fact Check: FALSE! The ratings for Trump’s speech were less than stellar. The first three nights of the MAGA-fest were not exactly barn burners. And while the final night’s tally was an improved 25.38 million viewers, that’s only 6% more than the COVID-hampered 4th night of the 2020 RNC convention. Even worse, it was about 20% lower than the 2016 affair.

Speaking of Fact checks, Trump was found to have lied more than twenty times during his speech.

The only plausible claim of historical success was that Fox News drew its highest number ever for a nomination acceptance speech. But it isn’t exactly news that Trump’s Ministry of Propaganda did well while airing their Dear Leader. Even so, more people watched on networks other than Fox.

What’s more, Trump’s viewership was likely lower than these numbers represent because he didn’t begin his marathon monologue (the longest ever at 96 minutes) until about 10:30 ET, and didn’t finish until after midnight. These ratings don’t detail any viewing after primetime, which ends at 11:00. And the audience generally declines as it gets later in the evening.

The other Trump comment on Truth Social was his expression of gratitude for the reception he received…

“Thank you to all for the great reviews of my speech last night. It was my great honor to make it!!! DJT”

Ironically, the musical coda to Trump’s speech was the aria “Nessun Dorma” from the final act of Puccini’s opera “Turandot.” The title translates from Italian to “No one sleeps.” If that was intended to be an order, they should have done it before Trump started talking.

For the record, Trump’s speech underperformed similar public addresses by President Biden, whose final night in 2020 drew 24.6 million viewers. That’s slightly less than than Trump’s, but it was delivered during a virtual convention due to COVID. More recently, Biden’s State of the Union address drew more than 32 million viewers earlier this year. The Biden/Trump debate had an audience of 51 million.

All in all, Trump’s ratings are nothing to brag about. But that doesn’t stop him from doing so. He is obsessed with numbers, whether it’s ratings, or net worth, or crowd size at his cult rallies. And he will lie profusely in order pump himself up. It’s the one thing we can rely on from Trump.
