Trump FREAKS OUT Over Jack Smith’s Documentation of His Crimes – But Doesn’t Dispute Any of It

The incompetence and ignorance of Donald Trump has been on public display for many years (decades?) now. The monumental failures in his business affairs, political pursuits, and personal life have become legendary. However, there is one area where he has been remarkably successful: Delaying legal accountability for his multitude of crimes.

Trump has already been convicted of 34 felonies. But that’s just the tip of his illegality iceberg. He still has 54 felony charges pending. And there are also the civil offenses that he has been found liable for, including financial fraud and sexual assault. There are so many legal quandaries that he has to sidestep that he sometimes loses track of his excuses and deflections…

On Wednesday the federal court in D.C. unsealed a filing by Special Counsel Jack Smith in the case involving Trump’s criminal participation in the January 6th insurrection and associated efforts to undermine democracy. The filing is a 165 page document containing damning evidence of Trump’s treasonous guilt and callous amorality.

The filing features, in part, Trump reportedly saying “So what?” after being told that Mike Pence was in danger at the Capitol; his disregard for election results, telling his daughter Ivanka that “It doesn’t matter if you won or lost the election, you still have to fight like hell;” and his staff advocating violence to prevent Joe Biden from being certified as the winner, saying to “Make them riot.”

In response to this bombshell legal brief, Trump took to his failing social media megaphone, Truth Social, to make a wholly impotent case for his innocence. There’s just one problem. He didn’t bother to actually make a case at all…

“Democrats are Weaponizing the Justice Department against me because they know I am WINNING, and they are desperate to prop up their failing Candidate, Kamala Harris. The DOJ pushed out this latest ‘hit job’ today because JD Vance humiliated Tim Walz last night in the Debate. The DOJ has become nothing more than an extension of Joe’s, and now Kamala’s, Campaign. This is egregious PROSECUTORIAL MISCONDUCT, and should not have been released right before the Election. The Democrat Party is turning America into a Third World Country that tries to censor, harass, and intimidate their Political Opponents. What they have done to our Justice System is one of the Great, All Time, Tragedies.”

It is difficult to ignore the fact that there is nothing in that rant – or the other six posts he made on this subject – that actually claims that he’s innocent. He doesn’t even bother to dispute the factual findings in the filing. His entire defense is to just whine about alleged election interference, weaponizing government, polls, the debate, prosecutorial misconduct, and timing. All of which he manages to get completely wrong.

It is not election interference to submit legal documents in a case that has been ongoing for months. It is not weaponizing government because there is no proof of any political influence in the filing. It is preposterous to cite his debate with Kamala Harris as having anything to do with this action by the court. Likewise, it’s absurd to bring up election polls, most of which show him trailing Harris. And Trump’s allegation of prosecutorial misconduct is unsupported by any facts – or reality.

Finally, Trump’s complaint about the timing of the filing ignores the fact that the timing was all his doing. This could have been all wrapped up months ago, but for Trump seeking multiple delays that have resulted in the filing coming at this time.

The delay tactics by Trump are actually another indication of his consciousness of guilt. An innocent person would have wanted his name to be cleared as quickly as possible. But Trump knows that he’s guilty, so he has been determined to put off his inevitable convictions in the hopes of getting reelected and dispensing with the cases and/or pardoning himself.

But Trump failed to think it through. And he underestimated Smith. So now he’s crying about a variety of legally irrelevant issues that can’t possibly help him to avoid his dire future. Of course, all of this rests on Harris prevailing in November. So it’s up to the American people to turn out for the rule of law, for democracy, and for the well being of every citizen on so many other issues. LFG!

Moving the Needle: The Vance v Walz Debate Firmly Established that Trump is Full of $#IT

Historically, vice-presidential debates have had little impact on the outcome of an election. They serve mainly as an opportunity to showcase the judgment of the presidential candidate in choosing a competent, qualified partner, and potential successor. And on that scale, Kamala Harris hit one out of the park.

Donald Trump, JD Vance, Dr. Evil, Mini-Me

The much anticipated face-off between Gov. Tim Walz and Sen. JD Vance provided an excellent display of the personnel decision making capabilities of their respective bosses. Harris chose someone with experience, honesty, and moral character. And Donald Trump chose a cheap replica of himself, with the same shameless facility for disseminating falsehoods as his master, who has made a career of it.

The likelihood that this debate will defy history and change the course of the campaign is minimal. But it is not nonexistent. There is a possibility that the needle could be moved a point or two, which is all that’s needed to affect the result of a close race. And Vance seemed to be doing his best to achieve that movement, but in favor of his opponent, Gov. Walz.

In a debate where there was little that would be remembered afterward, Vance managed to come away with most of the memorable moments. For instance…

Walz directly asked Vance whether Trump had lost the election in 2020. A simple question that Vance was unable to answer.

Vance brought up the Affordable Care Act (aka ObamaCare), saying that Trump had “salvaged” it when it was “doing disastrously.” In reality, Trump had repeatedly tried to repeal the broadly popular plan and, having failed to do so, reduced its promotion budget and shortened the open enrollment period in an attempt to sabotage it. He never had an alternative proposal despite numerous promises to deliver one.

Vance claimed to have never supported a national abortion ban, despite being on record saying literally that “I certainly would like abortion to be illegal nationally.”

Vance tried to erase his now infamous comments about legal Haitian migrants eating cats and dogs. Then he whined about being fact-checked and, in an effort to redeem himself, he lied some more about an immigration statute that had nothing to do with the Haitian migrants.

Vance engaged in some flagrant revisionist history, asserting that Trump respected the traditional peaceful transfer of power after his loss in 2020. Apparently Vance forgot about the deadly January 6th insurrection that was incited by Trump, who still praises those convicted as patriots and promises to pardon them.

There was quite a bit more that Vance distorted, such as his silence on Trump labeling climate change a hoax, and Trump’s pledge to have legally and economically destabilizing mass deportations of immigrants, and Trump’s neglect to respond to Iranian attacks on U.S. soldiers.

For his part, Trump’s live “truthing” of the debate consisted entirely of insults, allegations of bias, and empty declarations of imaginary victory, but not a single fact. Meanwhile, the primary surrogate for his campaign, Vance, was pitifully inept and even counterproductive. That might cause a rational candidate to reconsider offers to engage in further debates. However, Trump is standing firm on his cowardly refusal to debate Harris again. He posted a fear drenched rant on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, saying that…

“Lyin’ Kamala just put out a request for another Debate because they lost so badly tonight…and I’m not looking to do it again, too far down the line. Votes are already cast — And I’m leading BIG in the Polls.”

Of course, Walz did not lose the debate with Vance. And it is hardly to late for Trump to debate Harris again. Trump debated in late October in both his 2016 and 2020 races. And finally, Trump is not “leading BIG in the polls.” In fact, he isn’t leading at all. He is trailing Harris in nearly every recent poll. Which is just another blatant lie that certifies him as the master of mendacity and misinformation. It’s a distinction that he will likely retain for many years to come.

Fox News Trump Flunky Sinks to New Low, Citing Conspiracy Crackpot as an Election News Source

Perhaps the least surprising thing about the 2024 presidential election is that Fox News is working furiously to advance the campaign of Donald Trump and his MAGA minions. Shilling for right-wing politicos has been the mission of Fox News from its inception. So why should anyone expect anything different now?

The blatant dishonesty of Fox News was exposed when they agreed to settle a defamation lawsuit by Dominion Voting Systems for 3/4 of a billion dollars. That settlement came after Dominion obtained hundreds of communications from Fox News executives and hosts revealing their deliberate lies and hypocrisies. But even that didn’t stop them…

The latest journey into journalistic disgrace for Fox manages to exceed its prior milestones of mis- and disinformation. Featured in this episode is Fox’s Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, in her continuing role as a purveyor of pure propaganda. In a segment discussing the prospect of election fraud that Fox and Trump have been imagining is rampant, Bartiromo asks the national Republican Party co-chair, Michael Whatley, a question based on the “reporting” of a bona fide Internet nutjob…

Bartiromo: We want to get your take on whether or not you’ve got confidence there in Arizona because apparently The Gateway Pundit reported that the GOP chairwoman provided an update to allegations that there’s not going to be a fair election there.
Whatley: Well, there is going to be a fair election and we’re working very, very hard with the Arizona GOP. I actually had dinner with the chairwoman last night.

That’s right. Bartiromo has embraced Jim Hoft (aka Gateway Pundit), one of the most universally disreputable conspiracy peddlers on the Internet, as a source for her alleged “news” program. And the information that she draws from Hoft is a quote that he attributes to the chair of the Arizona GOP asserting that the election is already invalidated due to fraud, a month before it has taken place.

With Bartiromo’s adoption of Hoft as a source, Fox News has fully transformed into the status of an Internet Troll Network. They don’t employ any credible journalists, so their dependency on hacks like Hoft was inevitable. But to be fair, he really is no worse than Fox regulars Sean Hannity, Jesse Watters, Laura Ingraham, and the “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends.

However, we can set aside Bartiromo’s guest, Whatley, disputing the charges by Hoft, and assuring Bartiromo that the election is going to be fair. Because it would be foolish to expect that view to stick. If Trump loses in November, the entirety of the GOP outrage machine, including Whatley, Trump, and everyone on Fox News, will be shouting from the rafters that the election was “rigged and stolen.” Just as they are still doing with regard to the 2020 election. In fact, Trump is already doing it. And even he isn’t satisfied with Fox…
