Trump is truly doing the devil’s work as he imposes inflationary tariffs that increase the cost of living, bombs boats in the Caribbean without any evidence that they are anything but innocent fishermen, rounds up migrants for deportation to foreign gulags, prosecutes his political foes, and keeps the government shutdown while the American people suffer from loss of pay and benefits.

Now, just in time for Halloween, Trump is issuing threats that should scare the pants of all decent, patriotic Americans. Because he has been unable to shove his despicable and unpopular policies down the throats of the Democratic representatives of the people, which triggers his frustration of not reigning like an all-powerful dictator, Trump is commanding his MAGA GOP puppets in Congress to “NUKE” the longstanding parliamentary rules of the Senate in order to get his way.

Trump posted an interminably long comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, wherein he called for Republicans to invoke what he calls the “”Nuclear Option.” His raging edict to eliminate the filibuster includes the following excerpts…

“It is now time for the Republicans to play their “TRUMP CARD,” and go for what is called the Nuclear Option — Get rid of the Filibuster, and get rid of it, NOW!” […]

“Just a short while ago, the Democrats, while in power, fought for three years to do this, but were unable to pull it off…to substantially expand (PACK!) the United States Supreme Court, make Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico States…and many other highly destructive things.” […]

“I want to do it in order to take advantage of the Democrats.”

Scary, isn’t it? But what’s really frightening about it should worry Republicans more than the Democrats that Trump is aiming to “take advantage of.” Because while there would surely be some near-term political atrocities, finishing off the filibuster could result in some unintended terror for the Trumpists when, inevitably, the Democrats regain the majority in Congress, and the White House. Long desired Democratic legislation could be passed without any interference from the GOP obstructionists. For instance…

  • Pass election reforms including the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act to set national standards for early voting, mail-in voting, and redistricting.
  • Supreme Court reforms including ethics standards, term limits, and adding four more justices.
  • Improving on the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and working toward Medicare for All.
  • The Green New Deal programs to advance clean energy mandates.
  • Increase the federal minimum wage to $15.00 or more.
  • Codify Roe v. Wade and LGBTQ+ equality protections to be applicable nationwide.
  • Pass comprehensive gun safety laws such as universal background checks and banning assault weapons.
  • Expand child care and elder care programs that Republicans have been blocking.
  • Tax the rich and provide tax relief for working class Americans.
  • Statehood for Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico that would enfranchise those citizens and create four more senate seats.
  • Release the Epstein files if they are still being withheld by the time the next Democratic Congress is in session.

And that’s just for starters. It’s ironic that Trump is launching his campaign to nuke the filibuster at the same time as he is declaring his intention to resume testing actual nukes. But the result could be the pursuit and achievement of an aggressive progressive agenda. And Republicans may come to regret the change just so that they could give Trump congressional approvals to do things that he has already been doing without approval or legal justification.

However, we should never underestimate the ability of the GOP to fail to think things through, and wind up hurting themselves. Given their determination to unleash holy hell on America, their incompetence is one of the few bright spots that Democrats and all Americans can rely on.

MAGA Mike Johnson Inadvertently Gives a Master Class on the Mental Incapacity of Donald Trump

When the Republican Party chose Mike Johnson as their leader, and subsequently House Speaker, it was a desperation move following the crash of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy and the failure of any other Republican to garner enough votes for the job.

McCarthy was booted from the post because he agreed to a Continuing Resolution that passed with Democratic support. Then the GOP took three weeks to select Johnson after running through such losers as Steve Scalise, Jim Jordan, and Tom Emmer. So naturally, Johnson is scared witless of actually doing his job, which requires negotiating with Democrats. The result is that he’s living down to the low expectations people had of him from the start.

During his morning press briefing on Tuesday, Johnson sought to manufacture yet another fallacious “scandal” to deflect from his incompetent “leadership.” He told the assembled media about a report just released by the GOP chair of the House Oversight Committee that contained nothing but fiction about President Biden and the pardons he issued. Johnson ranted that…

“Oversight chairman James Comer released a blockbuster report on the ‘Biden Autopen Presidency.’ And this report includes 47 hours worth of transcripts and testimony revealing that every executive action signed by the autopen without written authorization should be voided…Including all the pardons that he signed.”

For the record, there was nothing in the report that remotely resembled evidence of anything untoward by Biden. It was full of biased and baseless conjecture provided other Republicans. Which won’t surprise anyone who is familiar with Comer’s prior work as Oversight chair, wherein he utterly failed to find any wrongdoing by the Biden family or any other Democrat that he targeted for persecution.

However, the report’s release was enough for Johnson to launch a bizarre assault on Biden and his mental acuity while in the White House. Johnson unloaded the following certifiable nonsense…

“Nothing this incredible and insane has happened before. This is not something that the forefathers anticipated. It’s unprecedented. There is no legal precedent. No previous president had an autopen, or had the audacity to have people signing things on their behalf when they didn’t even know what was in it…The President was checked out of his job for quite some time, and everybody knows it.” […]

“[Biden] pardoned categories of violent criminals and turned them out on the streets. He didn’t even know what the categories were, apparently, much less the individual people that he pardoned. They’re invalid on their face. I would love to take this case and go into the court and make that way to set the precedent. You can’t allow a president to check out and have unelected, faceless people making massive decisions for the country.

First of all, Johnson’s claim that “No previous president had an autopen,” is spectacularly deranged. Autopens have been in use by presidents since the 1950s. But more to the point, Johnson is flagrantly lying about Biden’s use of the autopen. Johnson has no proof that any executive action or pardon was signed by Biden, with or without an autopen, that he was unfamiliar with. Johnson is just blindly insulting Biden because that’s what infantile, desperate Republicans do.

Ironically, virtually everything that Johnson accused Biden of was actually true for Johnson’s Dear Leader Trump. And there is evidence of it as well. There is abundant video of Trump signing executive orders where he needs to have the order explained to him before he signs it. And certainly Trump had no idea who the 1,500 rioters were that he pardoned for their participation in the January 6th insurrection that he incited. They included many who pleaded guilty to assaulting police officers as they stormed the Capitol.

Talk about being “checked out.” Trump’s obsession with windmills, and showers, and strong men who cry and call him sir, is patently demented. The funny thing about Johnson’s comments about Biden is that they fit Trump so perfectly. It is Trump who is dangling by a thread of sanity. And the folks at The Meidas Touch put together a short video that really drives the point home.

Leading the crusade of disinformation is the GOP Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, who has single handedly closed the House of Representatives even though there is no reason that the House can’t be in session and get critical work done while federal government agencies are shuttered. The Senate is open for business. But Johnson doesn’t really want the shutdown to end for political reasons, and he has said so explicitly…

What’s more, Johnson is also exploiting the shutdown in order to avoid swearing in newly elected Democratic representative Adelita Grijalva, who would provide the final signature necessary to force a vote on releasing the Epstein files that Trump is so terrified of becoming public.

Consequently, Johnson is pulling out all the stops to protect the Epstein pedophiles, including Trump, and to spread the most vile slander about Democrats that can muster. A couple of weeks ago Johnson was attacking Democrats, and millions of Americans who participated in the “No Kings” demonstrations, as “terrorists.” But now he is maniacally upping the ante by announcing the total demise of the Democratic Party. In a Monday morning press briefing, Johnson railed that…

“What we’re witnessing is truly the end of the Democratic Party as we’ve known it. And even some Democrats are saying that out loud. You can see it in their interviews. I watched one last night.

“All of this is directly related to the Democrats’ shutdown show. Why? Because just like they decided to save their own skin, that they had to endorse the Marxist Mamdani in an unprecedented move, they have also decided that they had to shutdown the government in an unprecedented move, no matter the pain that inflicts on the hard working American people. They are simply more afraid of the Marxists in their party than they are of voters.”

There’s a surprising quantity of flat out idiocy in that brief oratory. Let’s begin with the fact that the Democratic Party is very much alive. In fact, it is polling better than Republicans, particularly on the shutdown, with 45% blaming the Republicans and only 39% pointing to the Democrats. And while Johnson claims that he has seen Democrats saying their party is dead, he doesn’t name names. But that’s only because he’s lying.

Johnson went on to malign the leading candidate for mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, as a Marxist. Which is another lie that he and his fellow GOP Republicans are chanting in lockstep unison like good little fascists.

Finally, Johnson perpetuates the lie that Democrats are responsible for the pain being inflicted on the American people by the shutdown that has been orchestrated by Republicans. They are the majority party in both the House and the Senate. Their party leader is occupying the White House. It is their responsibility to negotiate a bipartisan deal that serves the best interests of all Americans.

Johnson, however, won’t consider doing that because he is the one who is more afraid of Dear Leader than of the voters. Johnson, in the fashion of history’s most notorious political servants to dictators, has completely abdicated his role as Speaker of the House to his master, Donald the Trump. And to make his humiliation even more pronounced, Johnson posted a video of President Obama blasting Republicans for shutting down the government during his term. But Johnson doesn’t realize that Obama’s arguments are even more damning now to today’s Republicans…

Trump Brags that He Approved Disaster Aid, But Only for Red State Governors Who Support Him

Nine months into the reoccupation of the White House by Donald Trump, the nation is facing a slew of crises that will subject the American people to enduring harm and suffering. They include Trump’s gross mismanagement of the economy by the imposition of inflationary tariffs; his dismantling of federal agencies that serve critical needs of the people; and his military invasions of American cities to harass migrants and intimidate citizens.

Also topping the list of catastrophes for which Trump and his MAGA minions in Congress are responsible, is the shutdown of the federal government that, at 22 days, is currently the second longest such shutdown in U.S. history. For the record, Trump holds the number one spot at 35 days during his first term. And he appears to be determined to break his own record.

In the meantime, various regions of the country are grappling with the sort of natural disasters that commonly occur due to storms, drought, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, etc. In the past the federal government deployed its resources via the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to mitigate the harm and provide for a rapid recovery.

However, the Trump regime has blown FEMA apart in its crusade to dismantle all remnants of the federal bureaucracy that they regard as wasteful and corrupt. And in its place Trump is exercising his own prerogatives to distribute taxpayer funds as if they came from his personal piggy bank.

Consequently, Trump posted several comments on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, wherein he bragged about some disbursements of aid funds to states that have experienced recent painful acts of God. However, his political biases in how those funds are disbursed is glaringly evident.

In the posts listed below, note that each monetary grant went to a governor of a red state who supported Trump. And in each comment Trump makes sure to mention that the state receiving the grant had voted for him.

  • “I spoke with Governor Kelly Armstrong, and informed him of my approval of $3 Million Dollars to…North Dakota, which I won THREE times in 2016, 2020, and 2024.”
  • “I just informed Governor Mike Dunleavy that, based on his request, I am approving $25 Million Dollars to help Alaska…which I won BIG in 2016, 2020, and 2024.”
  • “I just finished speaking with Governor Jim Pillen, of the Great State of Nebraska, and told him that I have approved $15 Million Dollars for…Nebraska.”
  • “I just spoke with Governor Mike Kehoe, of the Great State of Missouri, and told him that I am approving $2.5 Million Dollars…I won “The Show Me State” three times in 2016, 2020, and 2024.”

That is not the way that federal funds are supposed to be allocated. The president is expected to serve the needs of all the people, not just those who voted for him. But such ethical constraints have never been a part of Trump’s character, or lack thereof.

It’s notable that Trump also approved aid for North Carolina and Wisconsin, but didn’t bother to boast about those states that have Democratic governors. What’s more, he has not approved aid for recent disasters in Democratic strongholds, California, Arizona, and New Mexico. It’s also notable that the total amount of aid for the states above – $45.5 million – is substantially less than what he is giving to to his dictator pal in Argentina – $40 billion.

That is typical of Trump who has long carried out a policy of retribution against his political foes, even threatening them with prosecution and incarceration. It goes back to his early rally chants aimed at Hillary Clinton to “Lock her up,” and continues today in his threats directed at Democratic leaders such as Sen. Adam Schiff, Gov. Gavin Newsom, and these defenders of democracy…

This is just further proof that Trump couldn’t care less about the American people. He only cares about preserving and expanding his power. And if he has to reward and/or punish people or states based on their fealty to him in order to maintain control, he has neither the morality nor the shame to resist that narcissistic compulsion. Which only makes the need for him to be removed from office ASAP more imperative. 8647!

Trump and his Republican Party have taken the lead in disparaging Democrats and even Republicans who fail to be sufficiently worshipful of Trump. And it is not merely the divergence of opinion that is common in a healthy democracy. The MAGA-tists have embarked on a crusade that mirrors the hostilities that resulted in the Battle of the States almost 200 years ago. Their invectives and lies are off the charts crazy.

A new poll by the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) sheds additional light on the severity and the causes of the division in American political life. And, not surprisingly, much of the responsibility lies with the media. The poll found that…

“Americans who most trust far-right news, including Newsmax and One America News, for accurate political information show the highest level of approval of Trump’s job as president (92%), followed by 86% who most trust Fox News. Smaller majorities of Americans who most trust the radio (67%) and who do not trust any media source also approve (61%). Far fewer Americans who most trust YouTube or podcasts (46%), social media (42%), mainstream TV news (25%), and newspapers (19%) approve of the job Trump is doing as president.”

In short, viewers of Fox News, OAN, Newsmax, and other MAGA media, are by far the most likely to believe the flagrant lies that prop up Trump’s public image. Those viewers are the glassy-eyed cult followers who regard Trump as a pseudo-deity who can do no wrong. And the reason they buy into that nonsense is that it is all that they are exposed to from the pro-Trump propaganda sources that they hungrily consume.

The poll delved deeply into a broad array of other political subjects and where Trump fit in. Or more pointedly, failed to fit in. For instance…

  • A majority of Americans agree “President Trump is a dangerous dictator whose power should be limited before he destroys American democracy” (56%).
  • A majority of Americans (56%) disapprove of the job Donald Trump is doing as president, compared with 42% who approve.
  • Americans who most trust far-right news show the highest level of approval of Trump’s job handling the Epstein files at 70%, followed by 68% who most trust Fox News.
  • Six in ten Americans (62%) believe things in the country are going in the wrong direction, including most Democrats (92%) and independents (71%), compared with 24% of Republicans.
  • Majorities say that the cuts in federal funding of health care programs (60%)…have gone too far.
  • Republicans (22%) are more likely than independents (16%) and Democrats (12%) to agree that political violence may be necessary to save the country.
  • Most Americans agree that “What President Trump is doing to the federal government is an assault on constitutional checks and balances and the rule of law” (54%).

While it is comforting to see that most of the American people reject Trump and his aspirational authoritarian agenda, it is troubling that there are still a fair number of weak willed citizens who are so easily misled. And the fact that they are swayed by the deliberately dishonest right-wing media is a disconcerting affirmation of the power of propaganda.

If the American experiment is to endure, there must be a solution to the harm posed by media that is purposefully lying on behalf of special interests, both political and financial. That solution must be careful not to step on the right of free speech. And while the right to speak may be practiced freely, it is not necessarily free of rebuttal or consequences if it deliberately causes harm.

Part of the solution was demonstrated in the $787 million settlement that Fox News had to pay to Dominion Voting Systems for defamation. There needs to be more of that. And it needs to hold individuals like Trump accountable as well. Because the more that liars in politics and media are held to a higher standard, the fewer opportunities evildoers will have to create the chaos that empowers the perpetrators of propaganda.

Why Won’t Republicans Release the Epstein Files That They Keep Insisting Will Exonerate Trump?

They have yet to articulate a coherent reason for doing so, other than their ludicrous lie that they are preventing Democrats from giving free healthcare to illegal immigrants. For the record, no Democrat has advocated or proposed that.

In reality, what Democrats are fighting for is to prevent the GOP from destroying the Affordable Care Act – aka Obamacare – and allowing healthcare costs to skyrocket for American citizens. Meanwhile, the GOP is trying to cast the blame on Democrats, despite the fact that Republicans are in control of the House, the Senate, and the presidency. They really believe that the American people are stupid enough to buy their blatant propaganda.

GOP House Speaker, MAGA Mike Johnson, has refused to open up the House of Representatives for business, leaning on the government shutdown that he and his colleagues created as an excuse. The two things have nothing to do with each other. There is no reason Congress cannot be in session during a shutdown. After all, they are all getting paid.

The obvious reason that Johnson is putting the House on pause is that he doesn’t want to swear in a newly elected Democratic member, Adelita Grijalva. She would make the 218th signature on a discharge petition that would require the House to vote on releasing the files of the late child sex trafficker, and friend of Donald Trump, Jeffrey Epstein. Of course, Johnson and his minions are denying that.

However, their denials don’t pass the smell test. The latest made up justification for avoiding doing the people’s business is to rewrite the history of the Democratic efforts to release the Epstein files. On Tuesday morning Johnson told reporters that…

“Democrats did not say one word about the Epstein files during the entire Biden presidency. They had all the files in the Biden DoJ. They didn’t say a word about it. Four years. Not a word. And suddenly now, they’ve somehow convinced themselves that the Epstein files will be damaging to President Trump and Republicans in some way that they’ve imagined, and so they feign outrage.”

Nothing that Johnson said there is remotely truthful. PolitiFact did an extensive review of the timeline of the Democratic efforts to reveal the truth about the Epstein affair. What they found was entirely contrary to Johnson’s fallacious rambling…

“Starting in 2019, but before Epstein’s arrest that year on federal sex trafficking charges, some Democratic lawmakers including Rep. Lois Frankel and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, both of south Florida, launched a years long quest to release Epstein records.

“The Democrats called for former U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta, who served as labor secretary during Trump’s first term, to testify about Epstein’s plea deal. They asked the Justice Department to investigate and release records. Democrats later pursued other strategies, including asking a Palm Beach, Florida, judge to release records.”

That’s a far cry from Johnson’s deliberately dishonest claim that “They didn’t say a word about it.” Not that Johnson or his Republican cohorts care about honesty. The notoriously dishonest Republican chair of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, also weighed in saying that…

“The Democrats don’t care about transparency or accountability in this matter. The evidence we’ve gathered does not implicate President Trump in any way. Public reporting, survivor testimony, and official documents show that Bill Clinton had far closer ties to Epstein.”

If Republicans actually have evidence that Trump is not implicated in the Epstein files, you really have to wonder why they are working so hard to avoid releasing them and exonerating their Dear Leader. In fact, if they actually had such evidence, they would have released the files months or years ago. And that’s even more true if they also have evidence that implicates former President Bill Clinton.

It’s hard to image that Republicans have any proof that Clinton “had far closer ties to Epstein” when there are years of photographic evidence of Trump and Epstein’s close friendship, but nothing similar with Clinton. Epstein was a frequent guest at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.

The only documentation of Clinton’s association with Epstein was that he used his plane, mostly for legitimate business related to the charitable Clinton Foundation. There is zero evidence of anything else. And it was the Trump administration that put Epstein’s partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, up in a Club Fed prison after she agreed not to implicate Trump in her dirty business.

If Trump and Johnson and the rest of the MAGA Klan really want to put the Epstein matter behind them, then they should release the files and take whatever heat happens to come their way. But they are clearly too afraid to do that. And the American people can see their fear. They can also see that Democrats aren’t the least bit afraid of demanding a full accounting and release of all the files. What does that tell you?

Not only did Johnson refuse to condemn the video, he praised Trump’s ability to nauseate people with social media. You have to be pretty deeply indoctrinated into the cult to find anything positive about Trump’s sick posting. There is nothing funny about bombing peaceful Americans with feces, just because they were exercising their constitutional rights. But Johnson was jsut getting started. We went on…

It’s impressive how Johnson can brag about his alleged support for free speech, as long as it isn’t used to mock Dear Leader Trump. That’s the same sort of conditional freedom that the Trumpists used get Jimmy Kimmel off the air, albeit briefly after they suffered a tidal wave of backlash.

Of course! The rallies were very small. They only drew enough participants to rank as the biggest national protest event in American history. And those seven million people weren’t representative of the country because some of them had “brand new signs” that he said – without proof – were paid for by philanthropist and democracy advocate, George Soros. Which is obviously improper and evidence of something awful. Not to worry though. Trump is “checking it out,” and will surely get to the bottom of it in two weeks or so.

So naturally it’s time for Donald Trump and his minions to look to their Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News, for support to bolster their faltering campaign to strangle the life out of the government that they despise and to avoid opening it up to serve the people, and perhaps, hold a vote on the issue that most terrifies Trump: releasing the Epstein files.

On Wednesday morning, Trump’s Propaganda Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, joined in on the lies that Democrats want to keep the government shutdown in order to give free healthcare to illegals aliens. But her “proof” of that is a story by Fox News that completely fails to validate the charge – even when it isn’t spreading flagrant falsehoods. The article published by Fox News leads off saying that…

“EXCLUSIVE: The White House unveiled a number of criminal illegal migrants who received Medicaid as the Senate remains in gridlock over the government shutdown. Fox News Digital obtained detailed information surrounding the arrests of 49 illegal migrants, who have all been deported under the Trump administration, who were arrested for an array of crimes that occurred in the U.S. […] Republicans argue that ‘more than 1 million illegal aliens’ receive Medicaid under the previously existing program that was revised under Trump’s landmark bill.”

Nowhere in the Fox News article that Leavitt cited is there any documentation of the alleged “criminal illegal migrants who received Medicaid.” And even if there were documentation, finding 49 out of a million is hardly evidence of a crisis. It’s barely a rounding error.

The Fox News article concedes that “federal law prohibits undocumented individuals from obtaining Medicaid.” Which is a point that Democrats have been making all along. The article even acknowledges that “A White House official explained that illegal migrants could obtain Medicaid through different means, but, specifically, emergency care.” And emergency care is mandated by the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA), a law that was signed by President Ronald Reagan in 1986.

The article further stated that “emergency care spending on those not legally in the U.S. rose from $3 billion to $9 billion under President Joe Biden.” Once again, there is nothing validating that claim in the article. So it should come as no surprise that it is a totally false claim. According to KFF Health News…

“A new Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report shows a total of $27 billion in federal and state spending on Emergency Medicaid for noncitizen immigrants between fiscal years (FY) 2017 and 2023. […] this spending represents less than 1% of overall spending in Medicaid over the entire time period, and, in some years, is less than half of a percent. Spending on Emergency Medicaid was $3.8 billion in FY 2023 and was .4% of total Medicaid spending that year.”

The figures stated above cover most of the Biden presidency and don’t come close to the $9 billion stated by Fox News. What’s more, those CBO numbers are for all immigrants – both legal and otherwise. Which means that the Republican excuse for keeping the Trump Shutdown going is a tiny fraction of federal funds for emergency care that has been mandated by law for forty years.

The real reason that Trump and Republicans are deliberately prolonging the shutdown is, of course, their determination to shutter dozens of critical government agencies, fire thousands of federal employees, and reform American democracy into an autocracy that is ruled by Dear Leader Trump. It’s a model of totalitarian takeover that Trump has borrowed from his idols, Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jong Un. It’s dangerous, and treasonous, and he must not be allowed to succeed. Because in America we have NO KINGS! Be there.

HUH? Trump Promises to Work with ‘Radical Left Democrats’ on ‘the Things They Want to Destroy’

The Trump Shutdown is now ten days old, and there is no hint of any resolution on the horizon. What there is are incessant lies by Donald Trump and his MAGA cronies who are trying to blame the shutdown on Democrats who have no control over any branch of the government.

The only reason that the shutdown continues is that Republicans have steadfastly refused to engage in any negotiations with Democrats. That’s because 1) Republicans are terrified of the prospect of having to vote on releasing the Trump-riddled Epstein files, and 2) the GOP is dead set against allowing any compromise that would prevent healthcare costs from skyrocketing as a result of their brutal funding cuts and hatred of migrants, and the thought that they might receive life-saving care in an emergency.

That’s why after a week and a half Trump is posting bizarre rants on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, seeking to shift blame for the shutdown on Democrats. Like his arguments on almost any subject, they are entirely devoid of logic, which he replaces with anger and insults. On Saturday morning he raged that…

“Chuck Schumer recently said, ‘Every day gets better’ during their Radical Left Shutdown. I DISAGREE! If nothing is done, because of ‘Leader’ Chuck Schumer and the Democrats, our Brave Troops will miss the paychecks they are rightfully due on October 15th. […] The Radical Left Democrats should OPEN THE GOVERNMENT, and then we can work together to address Healthcare, and many other things that they want to destroy.”

Of course, Trump is being deliberately dishonest with his reference to Schumer saying “Every day gets better.” Schumer was explicitly referring to the fact that the public is increasingly siding with Democrats against Trump and the GOP. The people recognize that it is the responsibility of the majority party in Congress to shape a compromise on a budget bill that will pass. Democrats have no power to do that.

Trump puts a spotlight on the Republicans’ refusal to negotiate by adding that he is only willing to “work together” with the “Radical Left Democrats” on “things that they want to destroy.” WTF does that even mean? Is Trump saying that he is amenable to destroying things in concert with Democrats? Why would he do that? Democrats, of course, don’t want to do that.

This is entirely a Trump thing, It’s obvious that he is just spewing noxious nonsense as a way of avoiding doing the work that the people expect from a president and their representatives in Congress. And contrary to Trump’s limp demand, Democrats cannot “OPEN THE GOVERNMENT.” Especially when the Republican leaders in Congress refuse to even come to work.

Trump also said that he’s directing his Secretary of “War,” Pete Hegseth, to “use all available funds to get our Troops PAID.” But he doesn’t say from where he would get these funds during a government shutdown. He also accuses Democrats of holding the nation hostage, which is, of course, what Trump and the GOP are doing. But at least he admits that the shutdown is “dangerous.” Previously he has been celebrating it as an opportunity to fire government workers. But only the Democratic ones.

It’s telling that the guy who pretends to have written a book on “The Art of the Deal,” is so pathetically incapable of making any deals. If Trump thinks that insulting Democrats as “radical,” and offering to work with them to “destroy” things is going to lead to them making a deal, he is even more deranged that we thought. And that’s really saying something.

Republican Leaders Call Millions of Americans Who Support the ‘No Kings’ Protests ‘Terrorists’

On October 18 there will another protest against the reign of America’s aspiring authoritarian dictator, Donald Trump. He has the distinction of being the least popular U.S. president in modern times. Which makes it much easier to organize these protests. The last one drew more than five million people nationwide.

In addition to being profoundly unpopular, historians have ranked Trump dead last on their Presidential Greatness Project. And no wonder. He is a convicted felon, an adjudicated rapist, a serial adulterer, an unrepentant con man, and a pathological liar. It remains a mystery how such a walking embodiment of embarrassment could have ever been elected president – twice.

As the upcoming date for the next “No Kings” rally approaches, Trump and his MAGA minions in Congress have the government shutdown. It’s a deliberate effort to deny the American people affordable healthcare, and to avoid a vote on releasing the Epstein files that undoubtedly contain numerous references to Trump. If they didn’t, he would have released them months ago.

So in order to deflect from all the bad news being generated by Trump and Republicans in Congress, the GOP leadership is lashing out the American people. During press avails Friday morning they uniformly attacked citizens seeking to exercise their constitutional rights by viciously maligning them as terrorists before the protests have even begun. That’s how House Majority Whip Tom Emmer framed the upcoming protests…

“This is about one thing and one thing alone. To score political points with the terrorist wing of their party, which is set to hold a hate America rally in DC next week.”

Of course. Any expression of dissent from Dear Leader Trump is de facto terrorism. And the people who love their country enough to hit the streets to defend it are called haters. But Emmer was not alone. GOP House Speaker, Mike Johnson, said pretty much the same thing to the assembled media…

OH NOES! Not t-shirts! What’s next? Red caps, autographed bibles and $1,000 watches? Johnson’s insults to the millions of people who support the “No Kings” protests are beyond despicable. They are vile and anti-American and designed to incite attacks on the protesters. He knows very well that there are no pro-Hamas or Marxist members of the Democratic Party or the liberal movement. And he knows that there is no Antifa organization. But that there are fascists leading his conservative MAGA crusade.

Johnson went on to accuse Democrats of being “afraid of that crowd.” Never mind that many Democrats will be marching right along side them. And Johnson concluded by demanding that “All of this has gotta come to an end.” Is he demanding that the Constitution be suspended so that Trump can prohibit any protests against him?

On the Senate side, Sen. Roger Marshall joined in the assault on free speech and assembly. He ranted that…

“October 18 is when the protest gets here. This will be a Soros paid-for protest for his professional protesters. The agitators show up. We’ll have to get the National Guard out. Hopefully it will be peaceful. I doubt it…This is all a political show. It’s all a political scam.”

The Trumpian right continues to allege that protesters are paid by George Soros. But they have never offered any proof of it. And Marshall is threatening the protesters with the deployment of the National Guard. That’s the Trump regime’s way of trying to incite violence, or at least the perception of it for the media. His “hope” that the protests will be peaceful is a lie.

It’s funny that these MAGA-tists are suddenly so concerned about the potential for violence at a demonstration when they are still defending the deadly insurrection that Trump incited on January 6, 2021.

The previous “No Kings” events have all been totally peaceful. And they are pledging the same for the one next weekend. If there is any violence you can bet that it will be incited by Trump’s provocateurs. Just like what he has tried to do in all the cities to which he has sent troops to quell violence that doesn’t exist. He is hankering for a reason to declare martial law. But the people are not going to give it to him. Sadly, that doesn’t mean he won’t do it anyway.
