WTF? Trump Tells Fox News that Booster Shots Are a ‘Money Making Operation’ and Not Needed

It appears that having lost more than 600,000 Americans from the coronavirus still isn’t enough for Donald Trump and his Ministry of Disinformation (aka Fox News). Despite having known about the severity of the pandemic early on (but deliberately downplaying it), Trump is continuing to lead his glassy-eyed cult disciples astray with flagrant falsehoods about the current state of affairs.

Donald Trump, Fox News, Coronavirus

Trump is on a media spree this week with two visits to Fox News, one to Newsmax, and he’s hosting another of his super-spreader cult rallies, this one in Alabama where the percentage of people vaccinated is the lowest in the nation. [Late additions: Joe Pags, Rick & Bubba]

During his second Fox News “interview” with shameless Trump-fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, Trump unleashed a torrent of lies related to his negligent and incompetent mismanagement of the pandemic and where things are going from here. What follows are a few excerpted – and poignantly annotated – highlights from the segment (video below):

“I’ve taken the vaccine. I’m very, very proud of it.”
If Trump is so proud, why has he refused to mount a public service campaign to persuade his devotees (who comprise the bulk of the resistors) to get vaccinated?

“When I was president, you didn’t have this problem with people not wanting to take it.”
First of all, the vaccine was not available until December 14, 2020, after Trump was voted out, and just a month before Joe Biden was inaugurated. As for people wanting the vaccine, it was a time when demand was strong from the majority of Americans who weren’t deceived by Trump and Fox News propaganda.

“They don’t take it because they don’t trust Biden.”
That’s Trump’s psychotic projection kicking in. Any scarcity of trust was due to the deliberate anti-vax agitprop by Trump and Fox News.

“When I was president, you didn’t have people protesting the vaccine.”
Again, the vaccine had only just become available. However, you had plenty of people protesting – sometimes violently – the existence of the virus and refusing to take simple steps to mitigate its spread, like wearing masks.

“When I left it was virtually gone. It was over.”
Oh for chrissakes! The death rate was peaking in January of 2021. But Trump’s lies still seem to have much farther to go.

[On the need for a booster] “That sounds to me like a money-making operation from Pfizer. […] You wouldn’t think you would need a booster.”
Because everything that a grifter like Trump does has to have greed as a motive, he thinks that’s true for everyone else.

More troubling is Trump’s dismissal of the need for a booster shot that has been verified by actual scientists. Just as he has spent most of the last year and a half downplaying the tragic and deadly risks that people are facing, Trump still seems determined to kill off more Americans by convincing them that there isn’t any real threat and they don’t need need to take simple steps to insure the safety of themselves, their families, their communities, and their nation. And naturally, Bartiromo adoringly goes along with everything Trump says.

Trump would rather let more people suffer and die so that he can blame it all on Biden and continue his fundraising pitches to enrich himself and finance his next insurrection and attempted coup. Ironically, the number of suckers available for him to exploit with this lethal scam will decline in corresponding proportion to the number deplorables he can swindle with his self-serving lies.

HUH? GOP Chair Touts DeSantis Plan to Let People Get COVID as ‘Smart Leadership’

If you’re having trouble figuring out what the Republican agenda for America is, don’t worry. It’s not you. Other than tax cuts for the rich and deregulation, the Republican Party has not had an affirmative agenda for years. Their focus has been devoted almost solely to opposing the progressive policies of the Democratic Party and obstructing the popular initiatives that Democrats have proposed.

Republican Virus

As the “Party of No,” Republicans have proven that they couldn’t care less about what the people want. The latest legislative goals of the Democrats (including the $1 trillion infrastructure bill and $3.5 trillion budget bill) are broadly favored by significant majorities of the American people. But Republicans refuse to serve the interests of their own constituents, preferring to mislead them into believing flagrant falsehoods and crackpot conspiracy theories.

The same perverse political philosophy is being pursued by the GOP with respect to managing the COVID pandemic. They have adopted Donald Trump’s position of declining any constructive action because it might benefit President Biden or upset their cult followers. And to that end, the chairwoman of the Republican Party, Ronna Romney McDaniel, expressed her approval for Florida’s governor Ron DeSantis and his strategy for addressing the pandemic surge that has made Florida the world’s top COVID hot zone. McDaniel tweeted that…

“This is smart leadership. Instead of pushing for mandates, Republican governors are getting people the treatments and resources they need.”

McDaniel’s tweet linked to an article on Fox News that described how DeSantis “mobilized a ‘rapid response unit’ this week to administer monoclonal antibody treatments to state residents infected with COVID-19.” So what McDaniel thinks is “smart leadership” is to make an attempt to provide treatment for people who have contracted the deadly virus, rather than to prevent them from getting sick to begin with. After all, DeSantis has been fiercely fighting any efforts to deal with coronavirus transmission via tried and true methods such as masks and vaccines. Now he, and McDaniel, think it would be better just to treat them after they get sick.

There are numerous problems with that plan. First of all, Those who contract the virus will still be carriers who can infect others and exacerbate the pandemic’s spread. They will also be subject to the possible long-COVID health problems that could produce permanent disabilities.

What’s more, the monoclonal antibody therapy is less effective at mitigating the pandemic than vaccines and masks, and not effective at all after severe symptoms develop. Additionally, it is far more expensive to administer. It costs about $1,500 per dose, compared to $20.00 for the vaccine and $2.00 for a good K95 mask. Plus it requires hospitalization and medical staff to insert and monitor the IV delivery that it requires. All that to avoid getting a ten second poke in the arm.

Last week Florida reported 151,415 coronavirus cases, 15,441 hospitalizations, and 1,070 deaths. If the state were to treat all those infected with monoclonal antibodies, it would cost over $227 million dollars. However, vaccinating them would have cost only about $3 million. Plus, it would have the added benefit of preventing transmission, long-term illnesses, and possible deaths.

Republicans believe that people should have the freedom to decide whether to wear a mask or get vaccinated. Fine. But communities at large should have the freedom to decide whether those ignorant, irresponsible, and selfish louts should be permitted to mix with and endanger them in public places. The vaccine resistors complain that they aren’t comfortable getting a shot when they don’t know what’s in it or the long term effects. But they don’t know any of that about monoclonal antibodies either, yet they’re happy to get sick and shoot that up their veins.

This is what McDaniel regards as “smart leadership”? To the contrary, this is what Republicans regard as exploitable politics. All they care about is stirring up fear and inciting anger with which to attack their political foes. And if thousands more Americans die because of it, that’s just the cost of retaining power for a party that is totally devoid of ideas – or morals.

WHUT? Trump Refuses to Promote Vaccines Because it Might Help Biden or Upset His Cult

The years that America endured having Donald Trump occupying the White House made one thing crystal clear. Trump is suffering from Malignant Narcissistic Personality Disorder. He is emotionally incapable of caring about anyone or anything other than himself. That has been affirmed via his daily obsession with drawing attention to himself, and his incessant whining about not getting his way.

Donald Trump, Coronavirus

Trump’s promulgation of the “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” from him, and the violence that resulted during the January 6th insurrection, is further proof of his callous disregard for the welfare of others. Even worse, Trump demonstrated his devotion to only his own interests by his negligent mismanagement of the COVID pandemic and the deaths of more than 600,000 Americans. He knew early on how severe it was, but chose to downplay it in order to avoid having it reflect badly on him.

We are now facing a fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic. Virtually every health expert has attributed this surge to the resistance of many to get vaccinated. And the data reveals that most of the resistors are Trump supporting, Republican, Fox News viewers. These are people who are less likely to be influenced by medical authorities or experts in the media. Although they could be persuaded by their Dear Leader Trump were he to speak up.

Unfortunately, a new account of Trump’s current attitude about vaccines provides additional evidence of his rancid state of mind. According to the Daily Beast

“It’s been more than six months since Donald Trump left office and, despite pleas from multiple friends and advisers, the former president has kept refusing to mount anything resembling a real effort to get his supporters vaccinated.

“As COVID-19 continues to rip through the United States, Trump has done little more than make sporadic gestures toward the vaccine, including when he said he’d ‘recommend’ people get the shot during a Fox News interview, while underscoring at the same time that he respected people’s ‘freedoms’ to not get vaccinated.”

Trump’s wavering on the issue of getting vaccinated has insured that his supporters would continue to decline the most effective method of staying healthy and progressing down the path to normalcy for the whole of society. But the Daily Beast’s sources say that Trump…

“…doesn’t want to push too hard on the subject, so as to not ‘piss off his base,'” […and that…] “he doesn’t feel he needs to do any ‘favors’ for Biden.”

And that is just about as disgusting a commentary on Trump’s perverse perspective as you’re going to find. He would literally prefer to see people get sick and die, than to offend his cult disciples or put the nation on a path to wellness because Biden might get some credit for that.

This matter was raised during a White House press briefing in July when Peter Doocy of Fox News asked press secretary Jen Psaki if Biden would consider doing a pro-vaccine event with Trump. She pointed out that the White House welcomed any positive engagement on the issue. She also noted that Trump had six months to put out his own messaging, but failed to do so.

As for Fox News, they have also had opportunities to encourage their audience get vaccinated. And despite evidence of the potentially positive impact they could have, they also declined to act responsibly. This is a pattern of behavior that is consistent among right-wingers who are focused more on maintaining power than on people. And it’s sad that everyone else has to suffer due to their pig-headed selfishness.

Rand Paul Goes We, We, We, All the Way Hoping that COVID Kills More Americans

The nation is currently in the midst of a fourth wave of the COVID pandemic. And sadly, this one was entirely preventable. It was caused by the ignorant and stubborn resistance of anti-vaccine deadenders who have bought into the reckless lies of Fox News and the sociopathy of Donald Trump and his Republican Party.

Rand Paul, COVID

Among the most obsessed anti-vaxxers is Kentucky senator Rand Paul (R-COVID-19). He has been a staunch opponent of the CDC and other health experts, including America’s foremost epidemiologist, Dr. Anthony Fauci. Paul is so far out on the fringe that he actually made a criminal referral of Dr. Fauci to the Justice Department for allegedly lying to Congress. Dr. Fauci’s response was that “You do not know what you’re talking about…If anybody is lying here, senator, it is you.”

On Monday morning, Paul posted a video to Twitter (see below) that stated his case in support of the much maligned coronavirus. And to be certain that it was consumed by as many dimwits as possible, it was also posted as an op-ed on the Fox News website. Paul reiterated his position that the virus is nothing to be concerned about and presented himself as the guardian of pro-COVID “freedom.” The terminally deranged commentary began with Paul courageously declaring that…

“It’s time for us to resist. They can’t arrest all of us. They can’t keep all your kids home from school. They can’t keep every government building closed.”

Never mind that no one was threatening to have him arrested, or keep his kids home from school, or close any government buildings. So Paul is boldly standing up against “threats” that nobody has made. He went on to tell House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that…

“You will not arrest or stop me or anyone on my staff from doing our jobs. […] so you can continue your drunk with power rein over the Capitol.”

Again, Pelosi has never suggested any such thing. And the rules in the House of Representatives were implemented at the direction of the House’s Office of Attending Physician. Paul’s complaints, however, were pulled straight from his asinine failure to understand public health matters. Which is what must have triggered his idiotic edict that “No one should follow the CDC’s anti-science mask mandates.” And even worse, Paul completely contradicted reality by saying that “Children are not at any more risk from COVID than they are for the seasonal flu.” To the contrary, recent data shows that children are being infected and hospitalized in greater numbers than at any time prior during this pandemic.

Likewise, Paul’s petty retaliation for anyone who disagrees with him will be to petulantly block every bill that comes before the Senate. And he’s doing all of this for an unnamed horde of vaccine-averse rebels who don’t care at all about exacerbating the pandemic and potentially aiding in its continuing mutation until a variant that is vaccine resistant emerges. Throughout the video Paul refers to some vague collective of “WE” who he claims to represent, but who are never defined:

  • We don’t have to accept the mandates, lockdowns, and harmful policies of the petty tyrants and feckless bureaucrats.
  • We can simply say no, not again.
  • We have all either had COVID, had the vaccine, or been offered the vaccine.
  • We will make our own health choices.
  • We will not show you a passport.
  • We will not wear a mask.
  • We will not be forced into random screening and testing.
  • We will not accept your agencies’ mandates.
  • We will not allow you to do more harm to our children.
  • We are at a moment of truth and a crossroads.

In other words, “we” will expose ourselves, our families, our neighbors, our work associates, and every stranger with whom we come into contact, to a deadly virus that could be stopped with a simple shot in the arm. “We” will not be moved from our pigheaded stupidity just to save the lives of other innocent people who made smarter choices. And “we” will follow blindly the pundits and politicians who know nothing about epidemiology, rather than the doctors and experts who spent their lives studying it.

This isn’t about freedom. It certainly isn’t the freedom to go about our business without the fear of coming into contact with disease-carrying fools like Rand Paul. This is the kind of cognitively twisted thinking that has resulted in more than 600,000 COVID deaths in the U.S. so far. And if Paul and his confederate have their way, there will more suffering to come.

HUH? On Fox News Trump Asks ‘Imagine If There Was Coronavirus When I Was President’

For most of his time in the White House Donald Trump’s mental acuity was questioned. And for good reason. Despite his own hysterical references to himself as a stable genius,” Trump also believed that stealth fighters are actually invisible, that windmills cause cancer, that we should nuke hurricanes, that George Washington’s Army took over airports, and that injecting bleach will cure COVID. It’s not exactly a record of cognitive fitness.

Donald Trump, Insane, Straight Jacket

In his post-presidency, Trump has not fared any better. And on Saturday night he displayed a deficiency of cerebral functioning that should trigger alarm among his medical caregivers. Trump called into Fox News for a tongue-bathing “interview” by the ultra-bombastic Dan Bongino, a pundit whose experience consists of having been an NYPD officer, a three time loser for Congress, and a big mouth with which to shout down anyone who disagrees with him.

During the doting discussion Bongino sought Trump’s views on COVID mask mandates. “You didn’t have as much information when you got in office,” Bongino softballed. “It was a new virus, obviously. Where do you stand on these mandates?” Setting aside the fact that Trump knew very well the deadly severity of the coronavirus early on, he nevertheless replied with an incoherent jumble of nonsense:

“Could you imagine if I were president right now and we had this massive attack from the coronavirus – you know, now they like to call it, they have new names and they have other new names – but it’s exactly what we had, we had the same thing. If that were me, they would say ‘what a horrible thing, what a horrible job.’ I don’t ever hear that. And these are numbers in some cases that are equivalent to what it was, but we don’t hear that.”

https://twitter.com/Acyn/status/1424195207088676865

Does Trump really think that people need to “imagine” what it would have been like if there were pandemic while he was in office? The obituaries of more than 600,000 Americans might serve as a grim reminder. And the people did say “what a horrible job.” Then they voted him out of office by a seven million vote margin that, in his reality-averse stupor, he still refuses to acknowledge.

However, Trump actually contradicted himself in the same comment. He began by suggesting that it required imagination to conceive of a viral pandemic during his term. Then follows that by conceding that it was “exactly what we had.” So which was it? And leave out the babbling about different names.

Of course, neither Trump nor Bongino recognize that the current wave of COVID is the result of the new Delta variant. Nor do they acknowledge that the horrendous surge is mainly among the unvaccinated, whose resistance has largely been driven by Trump and Fox News. If they wanted to mitigate the harm, they could, but they obviously don’t want to.

This is the reprehensible level of discourse exhibited by Trump and his fluffers on Fox News. And yet, Trump is still regarded as the de facto leader of the Republican Party. Which tells you everything you need to know about the GOP, Fox News and Trump.

Ted Cruz Makes a Great Argument for COVID Mandates While Arguing Against Mandates

America is suffering from the recent spike in the COVID pandemic far more than is necessary. This is due primarily to the deliberate disinformation being spread by Fox News and by Republicans who care more about securing and preserving power than they do about human life. The Pandemic of Fox News. is responsible for the majority of new infections and deaths, which otherwise would be mostly preventable.

Ted Cruz, COVID Virus

If Fox News wanted to reduce the number of people getting sick and dying, they could do so easily. But it’s clear that they don’t want to. They are devoted to the agenda they have been pursuing for more than a year now. And it’s the same deadly, sociopathic, pro-COVID agenda of Donald Trump.

It is also the same agenda of Republican Sen. Ted Cruz. Like the rest of his GOP confederates, Cruz is locked into a partisan pandemic perspective that aims to exacerbate the harm caused by the coronavirus. Their goal is to exploit an utterly disingenuous advocacy of “freedom,” while blaming Democrats for the persistence of the pandemic. To that end Cruz appeared on CNBC to demonstrate how shamelessly obtuse he can be on this subject (video below).

From the start Cruz displayed a profound ignorance of what he was there to talk about. He asked CNBC’s Squakbox co-host, Andrew Ross Sorkin, “How would you feel if CNBC had a series of medical procedures that they demanded you do as a condition of your employment?” Apparently Cruz doesn’t know that all of the divisions of NBC News require every employee to be vaccinated in order to return to the office.

What’s more, Cruz doesn’t seem to be aware that many employers have health related requirements that must be adhered to as a condition of employment. Construction workers are not allowed onto a work site without helmets and other safety gear. Truck drivers and pilots are not permitted to drink alcohol or to use stimulants. Even teachers are are often tested for drug use. And vaccines are mandatory to attend to some schools or work abroad.

Sorkin then asks Cruz to comment on the view that “We have to respect the idea that we do not want to injure our colleagues or other people in society who have every right to stay healthy and alive.” To which Cruz replies…

“My view is that we should have no COVID mandates. What does that mean/ That means no mask mandates. No vaccine mandates. That means no vaccine passports. We shouldn’t step into the regime where the government says show us your papers if you want to do the basic activities of life. […] This argument that those that don’t get vaccinated are somehow the unworthy, unwashed, reckless people endangering everyone else, I don’t think that actually stands up to scrutiny.”

It is an established fact that those who are unvaccinated do endanger others. They can transmit the virus to people who are unvaccinated, as well as – to a lesser extent – those who are. And in both cases those they infect can in turn pass the virus on. For Cruz to assert that this verified science doesn’t withstand scrutiny is pure bullpucky. Cruz then reveals that he has been vaccinated, but that…

“If somebody doesn’t take the vaccine, they pose relatively little threat to me. They pose relatively little threat to someone who has chosen to take the vaccine. Now, they may potentially pose a threat to somebody else who isn’t vaccinated. Well, you what? They made that choice.”

That is just plain wrong. The more available hosts there are for the virus, the more opportunities it has to mutate. And new variants have the potential to defeat the protection offered by the current vaccines. So everyone who refuses to get vaccinated now is putting everyone else – including those who are vaccinated – at greater risk of infection. And you know what? That is NOT their choice.

From there Cruz went on to make one of the best arguments for vaccine mandates, although he had no idea he was doing so:

“Smokers, when they light up a cigarette, they’re increasing their chances they’re gonna get lung cancer. That may not be a wise decision to do, but in America we give people the freedom to make decisions about their own health even if we don’t approve of the decisions they make.”

Somebody needs to inform Cruz that there are already numerous mandates that apply to smokers. They may not light up in elevators, or restaurants, or many offices, or some apartment buildings, or airplanes, or almost anywhere that people gather in public. And the reason is that their unwashed, reckless behavior poses a serious risk to those around them. This same principle could apply to mandates for the COVID vaccine.

It’s hard to tell if Cruz is pitifully stupid, or if he is just a terrible liar and propagandist. But if we were to use his analogy to smoking, we could impose vaccine mandates immediately. And doing so would make the world safer for everyone, including crackpots like Cruz.

Jim Jordan, and Fox News, Attack Obama’s Birthday Party, Get Blown to Bits by Jen Psaki

The Republican Party continues to suffer a deficit of exploitable scandals to pin on President Joe Biden. His approval rating is holding steady and his legislative agenda is progressing with surprisingly bipartisan support. As a result the GOP, and their Ministry of Propaganda (aka Fox News) are forced to manufacture hit pieces in order to keep the peasants sufficiently pissed off.

Obama Fox News

To that end, Ohio’s QAnon Republican, Jim Jordan, posted a tweet aimed at embarrassing former President Barack Obama. Referencing his upcoming birthday party, Jordan said that “This is a dangerous super-spreader event. How can someone be so reckless? They’re killing people.” These are, Jordan claimed “The things Democrats would say if this was President Trump’s birthday party.”

The only problem with that is literally everything. To begin with, the link that Jordan provided in his attempted hate-tweet contradicted his criticisms. And you didn’t even have to click on it. Right below Jordan’s ranting it said that “The party will be held outdoors, all guests are asked to be vaccinated and there will be a COVID-coordinator.” If you did click on it, there were further details that revealed that “Martha’s Vineyard does not qualify as an area of ‘substantially-high’ risk, which was the target of the CDC recommendations.”

So Obama’s party will not be a reckless, super-spreader event that would be killing anyone. It will be an appropriately managed affair that is in accordance with CDC guidelines, and that takes into consideration the well being of the guests. If this was Trump’s birthday party, the only thing that Democrats would be saying is how astonished they are by his uncharacteristically responsible behavior.

Of course, Trump would never conduct himself with such concern and competence. In fact, he just announced another Super-Spreader Cult Rally later this month in Alabama, where masks, vaccinations, social distancing, etc., will be purposely ignored. Alabama presently has among the lowest rates of vaccination and among highest increase in new cases. So expect it get even worse there, and in the surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, Fox News White House correspondent, Peter Doocy, broached the same subject at the White House daily press briefing. It’s almost as if these people have plotted out there talking points for the day in advance. However,, as usual, Doocy was gently humiliated by press secretary Jen Psaki, when he asked what he surely thought would be a devastating “gotcha” question:

Doocy: Is President Obama setting a wrong example about how serious COVID-19 is by hosting a big birthday party with hundreds of people this week?
Psaki: Well, I would certainly refer you to the team who is working for my former boss to give you more specifics of what the protocols are in place. But I would note first that former President Obama has been a huge advocate of individuals getting vaccinated. What CDC has provided guidance on is for indoor settings in high or substantial high zones of COVID cases. This event, according to all the public reporting, is outdoors and in a moderate zone. But in addition there is testing requirements and other steps they are taking which I am sure they can outline for you in more detail.

Not satisfied, Doocy asked the exact same question two more times, while Psaki struggled to give him the same answer in different ways hoping that it would get through to him.

These pathetic attempts to turn a birthday celebration into a horror story only demonstrate how desperate Fox News and the Republicans are for anything to beat up on Democrats with. But it also reveals how ignorant they are about the state of the COVID pandemic and the proper procedures to conduct business during it, while maintaining the health and safety of everyone concerned.

If Fox News cared about the welfare of the American people they wouldn’t have spent the last year lying to them about the pandemic. Which they are still doing now. And the same goes for Republicans like Jordan whose only interests are preserving power and pleasing Dear Leader Trump by patronizing his delusional and narcissistic worldview.

UPDATE: In an effort to be exceedingly cautious and responsible, Obama Scales back his birthday bash amid COVID.

Here’s Proof that Fox News Could Save Thousands of Lives If They Wanted To – They Don’t

The year long determination of Fox News to convince their viewers that COVID-19 isn’t anything to worry about has resulted in the coronavirus officially becoming the Pandemic of Fox News. They are, of course, parroting the purposeful lies of Donald Trump who repeatedly told his cult followers that it was either a hoax, a Democratic plot against him, or a piffling malady that is no more serious than the common flu. And he’s still doing it.

Fox News, Cov-Aid

Never mind that Trump has known from the start how deadly it is. His deliberate dishonesty fueled the aversion of his disciples to the vaccines that he simultaneously tried to take credit for. And Fox News backed him up all the way.

As a result, the cable news network that one watches is one of the best indicators of whether or not the viewer has been vaccinated. The percentage of Fox News viewers who have received the vaccine is 21 points lower than viewers of CNN or MSNBC. Fox’s top program hosts are staunch opponents of vaccinations that they regard as attempts by the government to control the population (by keeping them alive?).

Tucker Carlson tops the list with his frequent anti-vaccine messaging, such as his paranoia drenched claim that vaccines don’t work and “they” aren’t telling you. Likewise, Sean Hannity has sowed vaccine doubts by pretending to support the science, even while insisting that no one should listen to him. Which is actually pretty good advice.

However, if Fox News was interested in the welfare of the American people, they could have a profound impact on mitigating the suffering and fatalities of the pandemic. That impact was demonstrated recently when Tractor Supply posted a sign next to a horse dewormer they sell. The sign reads…

“A number of products we carry, including select dewormers and injectables, contain the anti-parasite active ingredient Ivermectin. Despite media report that Ivermectin could potentially be used to treat people with COVID-19, these products are not safe or approved for human use, and could cause severe personal injury or death.”

Both Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham have promoted the use of Ivermectin based on studies that have been discredit and retracted. Carlson “repeatedly downplayed the effectiveness of COVID vaccines while touting Ivermectin on shows in June and July.” And Ingraham hosted a dubious “expert” whose advocacy of the dewormer only served to further mislead Fox’s viewers and put their health and lives at risk.

So Trump’s MAGA devotees refuse to take recommended vaccines based on the fear mongering and admitted ignorance of Fox News pundits. They say that they’re afraid of what the vaccines might contain (microchips? Fetuses?) and what potential harm they might cause. None of which has been validated. But they will rush out to their local farm supply store to buy and consume a horse dewormer that is known to be toxic to humans?

If nothing else, this proves that Fox News has a frighteningly powerful impact on their viewers and influences what they believe and do. How many other alleged “news” purveyors could get their audience to reject medicine and swallow poison instead? Now imagine if Fox News would tell them to get vaccinated. Imagine if they reported the extraordinarily high efficacy and safety of the vaccines and how reliably they reduced the incidence of severe illness, hospitalization, and death.

The result of Fox News – and Trump for that matter – enthusiastically promoting the benefits of being vaccinated could save tens of thousands of lives. It could prevent further viral variants from developing that have to potential to defeat the protection that the current vaccines provide. And that would save even more lives among the millions who have already been vaccinated.

But in order for that to happen, Fox News would have to care about the welfare of the American people. They have to put people’s health above their own political and financial interests. In other words, don’t hold your breath. Fox News – and Trump – cannot be relied upon to do the responsible and ethical thing when they can exploit people’s suffering to advance their agenda of partisanship and greed. That’s been their mission from their inception, and it isn’t going to change now.

Poor Peter Doocy of Fox News Fails to Grasp that the COVID Pandemic is a Moving Target

There really should be some minimum standards set in order to acquire press credentials for the White House briefings. The press secretary should not have to be burdened with responding to childish nonsense and politically loaded set ups.

Fox News, Peter Doocy

Early in the Biden administration, his press office articulated criteria for access saying that, “Organizations or individuals who traffic in conspiracy theories, propaganda, and lies to spread disinformation will not be tolerated.” But for some unexplained reason Fox News is still there. It is plain that they fail to meet the necessary criteria. For example, On Thursday, Fox’s White House correspondent, Peter Doocy, asked Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre this puzzling question about new guidance from the CDC about COVID protocols (video below):

Doocy: President Biden says that we are not returning to lockdowns, shutdowns, and school closures, but he also once said that we didn’t have to wear masks anymore once we were vaccinated. So, why should Americans trust him now?

Doocy’s question is founded on the ludicrous premise that things never change. So anything that a president says at one time must remain operative for eternity. If, for instance, President Biden told you it was unnecessary to turn on your headlights at noon, then he should not be trusted if he later tells you to turn them on after the sun has set.

This is the situation that currently exists with regard to the COVID pandemic. A few weeks ago it appeared that cases were declining and preventive behaviors like mask wearing could be set aside for people who had been vaccinated. However, with the emergence of the much more transmissible Delta variant that has become dominant, there is now more risk for the unvaccinated, but also for the vaccinated who can contract “breakthrough” cases.

Such cases are still rare because the vaccines continue provide excellent protection. And if a vaccinated person does get infected, they will likely have mild symptoms, or none at all. However, they could still transmit the virus to someone who has not been vaccinated. Which is why they should wear masks in public places. It’s mostly a protection for others.

These concepts appear to be way over Doocy’s head. He regards the changing guidance as some sort of admission that the vaccines don’t work. That’s a conspiracy theory peddled by his Fox News colleague Tucker Carlson nightly. They also try to fear monger about mask wearing as a government plot to control the population. But no one on Fox News has yet explained the logic behind such a plot, how it would enforce any type of control, or how it would benefit Democrats to annoy people with mandates that are allegedly unnecessary and unpopular.

Jean-Pierre was too polite to humiliate Doocy with the obvious answers above. She just calmly explained to him, as she would to a child, the reality of managing an ongoing health crisis:

Jean-Pierre: Well, because we listen to the scientists; we listen to the experts. This is a public health situation. This is not about politics at all. This is about saving lives. And this is what the President is all about. He wants to make sure that we are saving lives. If you look at, Peter, the last six months, that’s what he’s done every day. And you see that in the numbers.

Now we’re at a point where we have to double down and make it very, very clear to people that we can’t let the pandemic win. We have to continue to fight.
Doocy: So if you’re listening to the science, if scientists come to you at some point down the line and say, ‘It is our opinion that there should be shutdowns and there should be school closures, you would do that?
Jean-Pierre: Well, like I said, we listen to the CDC and the experts and their guidance. The CDC is a body that is very well respected. And again, we follow their guidance.

Jean-Pierre seems to have picked up the patience and intellect of her boss, Jen Psaki. It’s too bad that Doocy has picked up neither. He will surely come back to the press room tomorrow with more painfully stupid questions that are aimed only at making political points, rather than enlightening the public. But then, that’s why Fox “News” hired him in the first place (at the request of his daddy, Steve Doocy, co-host of Fox and Friends).

Fox News Legal ‘Expert’ Spews Utter Nonsense About COVID Vaccine Mandates

As the Delta variant of COVID is spiking throughout much of the country, Fox News is determined to help it infect and kill more people. Because it is primarily spreading among those who refuse to get the shot that could save their lives and defeat the virus, it has been called the “Pandemic of the Unvaccinated.” But it would be more accurate to call it the “Pandemic of the Fox News Infected.”

Fox News, Covid

All of the available data shows that the COVID hot zones in America line up perfectly with areas dominated by Republicans and Fox News viewers. These willfully ignorant folks are endangering, not just themselves, but all Americans, including those who have been vaccinated.

The disinformers on Fox News would have you believe that that is a admission that, as Tucker Carlson keeps saying, the vaccines don’t work. But they are either too stupid, or too intent on lying, to acknowledge that a viral pandemic is a fluid event that changes as the virus does. And the more available hosts there are, the more opportunities the virus has to mutate.

On Wednesday Fox News hosted law professor and Trump-fluffer, Jonathan Turley, He is a frequent guest on Fox since he argued incoherently in a congressional hearing that the impeachment of Donald Trump was unconstitutional. However, he is now representing the rights of the coronavirus to spread unchecked. He told Fox News that…

“The Biden administration is all in on a type of coerced consent approach. And what that involves is getting private companies to make life as difficult as possible for people who are not convinced. And you would like to – CNN’s health expert said ‘we have to make their life as miserable as possible.’ Even in Germany, you have an official saying you’re gonna have fewer freedoms unless you consent.

All of this is to force people who are against getting vaccines into sort of a smaller and smaller point of existence, a very difficult space. But it also means that private companies become a type of shadow state. They become the vehicle by which the government can do indirectly what it’s not doing directly.”

There’s a lot of flagrant foolishness in that comment, beginning with the phrase “coerced consent” Turley is employing it as a purposefully scary buzzword. But an alleged constitutional expert should know that it actually describes something no more frightening than a common law. Does Turley think that red lights are “coerced consent” to stopping at a busy intersection?

As for making people’s lives miserable, nothing would do that more than contracting COVID. Getting a shot or wearing a mask is a trivial imposition by comparison. And Turley surely knows that all laws technically “reduce” freedoms. Society makes a choice between unfettered freedom (i.e. anarchy) and reasonable regulations agreed to by the people and their representatives. Does Turley miss having the freedom to kill his annoying neighbor? You’ll have far fewer freedoms if you’re intubated in a hospital bed – or dead.

Turley’s argument that “private companies become a type of shadow state” seems almost deliberately dishonest. Regulations that make life as safe as possible are common, necessary, and popular. They are supported. by virtually all of Society’s institutions including government representing the state’s interests, corporations representing employer’s interests, and unions representing the interests of workers. A recent survey found that 70% of U.S. employees support making vaccines a requirement to return to the office.

Those who are against getting vaccines deserve to be segregated from the rest of the population who don’t want to be forced to be exposed to their higher degree of risk. And private companies are not serving as “shadow states” when they implement vaccine mandates. They have always required certain behaviors that insure the safety and well being of their workers and customers. That’s why you’re required to wear a helmet if you work on a construction site. You’re required to wear goggles if you’re a welder. You’re even required to wear a hair net at McDonald’s.

Many companies already have vaccine mandates, including Disneyland, Morgan Stanley, United Airlines, Google, and many hospitals and universities. And – oh yeah – Fox News! That’s right, Fox requires its employees to be vaccinated and has even created a vaccine passport program that they call Clear Pass.”

So Turley is arguing against private companies imposing mandates while he’s on a private company’s network that imposes mandates. That’s how deep the hypocrisy and has sunk on Fox News. And it should be embarrassing to both Turley and Fox News that their legal analysis is bereft of logic or reason. but then again, if it wasn’t, it wouldn’t be on Fox News.
