Trump’s Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, Tries and Fails to Justify Trump’s War on Los Angeles

From the day that Donald Trump first nominated Pete Hegseth to serve as his Secretary of Defense, it was widely viewed as a dangerously inappropriate proposal to elevate a completely unqualified Fox News weekend host with a history of abusing both alcohol and women.

Pete Hegseth with Drunk Emoji

Hegseth’s experience for the job that Trump sought to give him was his junior officer ranking in the Army twenty years ago, and his management of two military related non-profits that both fired him for his incompetence and malfeasance. But he met Trump’s prerequisites, which were that he would do or say anything that Trump told him without regard to the truth or the welfare of the nation, and that he looked good on TV.

SEE THIS: Pete Hegseth Spends Thousands for a Pentagon Makeup Studio to Fortify America’s Military Might

Following Trump’s declaration of war against the City of Los Angeles, Hegseth appeared before the Defense Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee. His testimony was about as rife with ignorance and dereliction as one would expect from such an unfit official. He came utterly unprepared for the inquiry that he knew he would face. That includes not having any data regarding the Pentagon’s budget proposal that the Appropriations Committee was expecting.

To make matters worse, Hegseth was also stumped by questions he should have anticipated. Particularly those about Trump’s unlawful deployment of National Guard troops and Marines in response to an overwhelmingly peaceful protest against the hostile excesses of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) in Los Angeles. And in an exchange with Rep. Pete Aguilar, Hegseth provided a chilling demonstration of just how clueless he is about his duties…

Rep. Aguilar: The legal basis that the president used cites three examples in circumstances for the Guard. Invasion by a foreign nation; a rebellion or dangerous rebellion against the authority of the government of the United States; or the president is unable with regular forces to execute the laws of the United States. Which authority is triggered here to justify the use?
Hegseth: I don’t know. You just read it yourself, and people can listen themselves. But it sounds like all three to me.

"Sounds like all three to me" — Pete Hegseth suggests the United States is under invasion by a foreign nation, prompting the need for troops in Los Angeles

Aaron Rupar (@atrupar.com) 2025-06-10T15:34:58.019Z

REALLY? Let’s examine these one at a time, shall we?

Invasion By a Foreign Nation:
There is no evidence whatsoever that any foreign nation had invaded the United States. Hegseth mentioned the presence of some Mexican flags, but that does not infer that the government of Mexico had anything to do with the protests, and they certainly did not. There were no Mexican troops or military assets deployed to take over the U.S. The notion is downright preposterous.

A Rebellion Against the Authority of the Government of the United States:
None of the protesters came anywhere near attempting to usurp the authority of the U.S. government. They were merely exercising their rights as stated in the First Amendment to the Constitution to “petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” Which can only be seen as a rebellion by the tyrannical tendencies of the Trump administration, where Trump regards anything critical of him as treason.

The President is Unable With Regular Forces to Execute the Laws of the United States.
The leadership provided by the Mayor of the City of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, and the Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, were more than sufficient to deal with the sometimes rowdy behavior of a few protesters. If Trump was invoking this excuse for his military incursion, than he was, in effect, conceding that he was the one who was unable to execute the laws that he swore to uphold. Which shouldn’t surprise anyone, considering that he literally admitted that he doesn’t believe he has any obligation to do so.

MORE HERE: WTHF? When Asked ‘Don’t You Need to Uphold the Constitution,’ Trump Replies ‘I Don’t Know.’

Later in his testimony, Hegseth was asked about the costs associated with the deployment of troops to clamp down on the people’s right to protest. He tried to dodge the question, but was pressed on it until he finally allowed an aide to provide the answer

“After persistent questioning about the cost of sending National Guard members and Marines to Los Angeles in response to protests over immigration raids, Hegseth turned to his acting comptroller, Bryn Woollacott MacDonnell, who said it would cost $134 million.”

With that amount of money, we could house and feed more than 4,000 homeless veterans for a year. We could provide more than 9,000 veterans with healthcare for a year. Or we could oppress and intimidate a few hundred advocates for migrants’ civil rights for a month. Spending money on this deployment is an even worse allocation of funds than Trump’s ludicrous and vain $45 million birthday parade that he’s throwing for himself in Washington, D.C. on Saturday. For which he is also threatening anyone who dares to protest it.

Hegseth is not the only member of Trump’s Quack Cabinet to malign the protesters in Los Angeles. His Homeland Security Secretary, Kristi Noem, also took a swipe at them and wound up hitting the entire population of the city, saying that L.A. is not a city of Immigrants, it’s a city of criminals.” Really? All 4,000,000 of them?

However, the views of Noem and Hegseth are not shared by the American people. A new poll has found that “47% of U.S. adults disapprove of deploying the Marines to LA, with 34% approval…45% disapprove the National Guard deployment, while 38% said they approve.”

Not that Trump or his cronies care about what the American people think. But maybe this will get some Republicans in Congress to grow a spine and reject Trump’s totalitarianism. Keep hope alive.

Herr Trump Calls for Gov. Gavin Newsom to Be Arrested and to Thank Him for Being ‘So Wonderful’

This weekend Donald Trump took the extremist action of federalizing the California National Guard to suppress the overwhelmingly peaceful protests in Los Angeles against Trump’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) thugs who are inflaming violence and chaos.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump Pacifier Fox

California’s governor, Gavin Newsom did not request the Guard, as required by law for Trump to deploy them. Which Trump himself acknowledged back in 2020. Both Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor, Karen Bass, adamantly insisted that they had the necessary law enforcement resources to handle the protests. Which was proven to be true, as the only thing that Trump’s actions did was to make things worse. But then, what more would you expect from Trump, whose decision making is severely impaired.

SEE THIS: WHO’S DERANGED? Trump on Biden Clones, Transgender Mice, Autopens, and His Own Mental Anguish

On Monday morning Trump spoke with reporters outside of the white House when he was asked by Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy about a comment Newsom made regarding Trump’s Border Czar, Tom Homan, threatening to arrest him. Which led to this exchange…

Doocy: Gavin Newsom is daring Tom Homan to come and arrest him. Should he do it?
Trump: I would do it if I were Tom. I think it’s great. Gavin likes the publicity, but I think it would be a great thing. He’s done a terrible job. I like Gavin Newsom. He’s a nice guy, but he’s grossly incompetent. Everybody knows.”

"I would do it if I were Tom. I think it's great" — Trump endorses the arrest of Gov. Gavin Newsom

Aaron Rupar (@atrupar.com) 2025-06-09T16:59:33.068Z

And there you have it. Trump is explicitly calling for the arrest of Newsom. Never mind that he has no plausible charges of wrongdoing. It’s just his penchant for authoritarianism that has manifested itself previously with the persecution of judges, mayors, and members of Congress, who he has had arrested.

UPDATE: Later on Monday Trump was asked what crime Newsom committed that would warrant his arrest. Trump replied “He ran for governor.” so running for governor is apparently now illegal in Trump’s America.

It hardly matters that Trump says that he likes Newsom, while calling him “grossly incompetent” and seeking his arrest. Trump is agreeing with Homan about the abhorrent and unwarranted prosecution of the governor of America’s most populous state. But Newsom is not afraid of Trump. He literally dared Trump to follow through on his threat. Will TACO Trump chicken out again?

Newsom: "Arrest me. Let's just get it over with, tough guy. I don't give a damn … Tom, arrest me. Let's go."

Aaron Rupar (@atrupar.com) 2025-06-09T02:35:52.032Z

What’s more, Trump posted a deranged comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, congratulating himself on his tyrannical behavior and pathetically begging for Gov. Newsom and Mayor Bass to thank him, saying that

“We made a great decision in sending the National Guard to deal with the violent, instigated riots in California. If we had not done so, Los Angeles would have been completely obliterated. The very incompetent ‘Governor,’ Gavin Newscum, and ‘Mayor,’ Karen Bass, should be saying, ‘THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP, YOU ARE SO WONDERFUL. WE WOULD BE NOTHING WITHOUT YOU, SIR.'”

This is another example of Trump’s preposterous hyperbole. Does he really think that Los Angeles, with a population of nearly ten million in the greater metropolitan area, “would have been completely obliterated” had it not been for his gross overreaction to the protests? And what psychological dysfunction causes him to continually demand that people thank him, when he is so undeserving of anything but contempt and shame? He expects everyone to suck up to him like the feckless fluffers in his Cabinet.

It is clear, however, why Trump is so hostile toward Newsom (to whom he has attached the infantile nickname, Newscum). Trump is jealous and threatened and seething with rage after Newsom so articulately castrates him with commentaries like the the following…

TACO Trump Tries to Blame Biden for the Boulder Terrorist Attack that Happened on His Watch

This weekend there was another act of domestic terrorism in America – this time in Boulder, Colorado – committed by an anti-Semitic extremist purporting to be a supporter of Palestinians. Although, nothing could be more destructive of Palestinian interests than a terrorist who seems to support the hostage taking by Hamas that the victims in Boulder were protesting.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Joe Biden, Donald Trump

Many concerned Americans from across the political spectrum condemned the attack in its immediate aftermath. But Donald Trump, too chicken to address the matter, said nothing about it until the next day. Presumably he was too busy to even express any sympathy for the victims because that would have have interrupted the golf game he was engaged in at the time. Not to mention his other pressing duties as president…

SEE THIS: WHO’S DERANGED? Trump on Biden Clones, Transgender Mice, Autopens, and His Own Mental Anguish

On Monday, when Trump finally had time to make a statement about the crime, he unleashed a typically Trumpian load of bile. And naturally, he sought to cast blame on his political foes for a tragic event that occurred on his watch. He posted a comment exhibiting his callous self-interest to his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, saying that…

“Yesterday’s horrific attack in Boulder, Colorado, WILL NOT BE TOLERATED in the United States of America. He came in through Biden’s ridiculous Open Border Policy, which has hurt our Country so badly. He must go out under ‘TRUMP’ Policy.”

Most notable in Trump’s response is his desperate effort to cast blame on former President Joe Biden. He resorts to that defamation even before showing any concern for the plight of those who were hurt. And true to form, Trump flagrantly lied about the suspect, Mohamed Sabry Soliman. Trump implies that he was an illegal immigrant by asserting that he entered the U.S. through “Biden’s ridiculous Open Border Policy” an asinine phrase that Trump only uses with regard to illegal immigration. But Soliman is an Egyptian who entered the U.S. legally. And when his visa expired he applied for and received a valid work permit.

However, none of that matters to Trump, whose only interest is maligning his perceived enemies and absolving himself of any responsibility. The untouchable Mr. Trump always insists that he knows nothing about anything in order to distance himself from whatever horrendous affair he’s hoping to avoid an association with, or is too cowardly or ignorant to face. The problem for Trump is that his own team of White House liars sometimes inadvertently contradict him. For instance…

Trump’s own official Rapid Response team posted a timeline for Soliman’s immigration status that shows that he was a legal immigrant with a valid work permit during the Biden administration. It wasn’t until March of 2025, during Trump’s term, that the permit expired. So it was Trump who allowed him to stay in the U.S. to commit an act of terrorism.

Trump has repeatedly said that he would focus his ethnic cleansing …er… mass deportation efforts on the most dangerous criminals in the U.S. illegally. Apparently that means Harvard students who write op-eds for their college newspaper, law abiding fathers with steady jobs and American wives, makeup artists with Latino names, and four year old cancer patients. But he let Soliman stay. And somehow it was Biden’s fault?

And that’s not all, Trump’s senior White House advisor, Stephen Miller, likewise blamed Biden in a tweet about Soliman’s illegal status, even though that was not the case until Trump was in office. And a similar tweet was posted by the official Trump War Room account on Twitter.

Clearly Trump’s interest in this matter is not related to the fate of the victims, the administration of justice, or the welfare of the American people. His highest priorities in responding to this tragedy are to whitewash his own reputation and to slander his adversaries. Which is a pretty good summation of the malignant narcissism that governs Trump’s priorities when responding to anything.

WTHF? When Asked ‘Don’t You Need to Uphold the Constitution,’ Trump Replies ‘I Don’t Know.’

Donald Trump seems to be doing his best to affirm that he intends to become America’s first dictator. He is furiously dismantling every cherished institution of the nation from justice to academia to journalism, and even religion. There are no principles or values that he won’t stomp on in pursuit of his own exaltation.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump, Constitution

Included among the pillars of American principles that Trump is eager to plunder is the nation’s Constitution itself. Not that he has any idea what it says or what it means. To Trump it is an archaic document that is only there for him to exploit if possible, or discard when necessary.

SEE THIS: Trump’s Justice Dept Threatens Journalists as ‘Treasonous’ for Not Disclosing Sources of Leaks

Trump confirmed his distaste for the Constitution in an interview with Kristen Welker on Meet the Press this weekend. During a portion of the interview that dealt with Trump’s unlawful deportation agenda, Welker sought to get his views on the legal aspects of rounding up allegedly undocumented persons and shipping them off to foreign gulags without any justification or legal recourse.

Welker: Your Secretary of State [Marco Rubio] says that everyone who is here – citizens and noncitizens – deserves due process. Do you agree?
Trump: I don’t know. I’m not, I’m not a lawyer. I don’t know.
Welker: Well, the Fifth Amendment says as much.
Trump: I don’t know. It seems — it might say that, but if you’re talking about that, then we’d have to have a million or two million or three million trials. We have thousands of people that are some murderers and some drug dealers and some of the worst people on Earth. Some of the worst, most dangerous people on Earth. And I was elected to get them the hell out of here. And the courts are holding me from doing it.
Welker: “But even given those numbers that you’re talking about, don’t you need to uphold the Constitution of the United States as president?
Trump: I don’t know

Perhaps one of the most honest responses that Trump has ever given to a question is “I don’t know.” However, in this case, it is also one of the most disturbing. The president of the United States ought to know whether what he is doing is legal and constitutional. But Trump is admitting that he doesn’t know that the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution plainly says that “No person shall…be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” That’s “person,” not citizen.

Instead, Trump attempts to cower behind some unnamed flank of lawyers, but does not even bother to say whether or not they agree with him or the Constitution about due process. Then he suggests that due process – and thus the Constitution – can be ignored if there are too many people seeking its protection. And of course, because there has been no due process, Trump doesn’t know whether any of the people he is deporting are criminals or dangerous, or even in the U.S. illegally.

Worst of all is that Trump was asked directly if he needs to “uphold the Constitution” and replies that he “doesn’t know” about that either. He literally pledged an oath to do so when he was inaugurated. How is this not a five alarm warning that Trump is determined to discard the Constitution and declare himself King of America?

MORE HERE: Trump Marks His First 100 Days By Glorifying Why Most Americans See Him as ‘A Dangerous Dictator’

Given Trump’s responses, what’s to stop him from arresting a couple thousand journalists and then saying that there are too many of them to hold hearings to ascertain whether or not their First Amendment rights were violated. So it’s off to El Salvador for you. And he could do the same with lawyers, or teachers, or civil rights activists, or members of Congress, or anyone who triggers Trump’s ire. And yes, that means you.

White House ‘Corrects’ a New York Times Headline – Winds Up Affirming Trump’s Contempt of Court

The second occupation of the White House by Donald Trump has proven to be far more destructive of the laws and principles of the United States and its Constitution than even the most pessimistic prognosticators imagined. And exacerbating the damage done is the fact that Trump routinely makes matters worse when he is confronted with his offenses.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump

That was demonstrated this week when Sen. Chris Van Hollen travelled to El Salvador to arrange a meeting with his Maryland constituent, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was abducted by Trump’s thugs and carted off to a gulag in El Salvador without the due process that everyone is entitled to in the American justice system. Garcia has also suffered the defamatory abuse of Trump’s MAGA media propagandists.

SEE THIS: Trump DHS Official on Fox News Likens Wrongly Deported Migrant, Abrego Garcia, to Osama Bin Laden

After first being refused, Van Hollen was eventually permitted to see Abrego Garcia and ascertain his welfare and treatment while in custody. The meeting was a significant step forward to what should be Abrego Garcia’s release, and it was widely reported in the U.S. press.

Among the media that posted stories about the meeting was the New York Times. Their headline accurately stated that “Senator Meets With Wrongly Deported Maryland Man in El Salvador.” And that honesty was taken as some sort of challenge by the Trump administration to pile on with more lies and callous disregard for human rights. The White House posted the following…

Thanks White House hack, for providing this additional proof that Trump is in Contempt of Court for non-compliance with a court order to facilitate the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia from El Salvador.

News Corpse (@newscorpse.bsky.social) 2025-04-18T18:40:35.874Z

You really have to wonder just how severely disturbed one has to be to get on Trump’s White House staff. This attempt to mock what is a profoundly gross violation of international law and human rights is not only repulsive, it actually harms Trump’s already weak arguments for having deported Abrego Garcia, and for maintaining his incarceration. Trump’s White House is actually affirming that he is deliberately in Contempt of Court.

For starters, they crossed out the word “Wrongly,” which contradicts their own admission that Abrego Garcia’s deportation was the result of an administrative error.”

Secondly, they also crossed out the words “Maryland Man,” and replaced them with “MS-13 Illegal Alien. However, there is no evidence whatsoever that Abrego Garcia is, or ever was, affiliated with MS-13 or any other gang. Furthermore, in the 15 years that he has lived in the U.S. he has never been arrested or charged with any crime.

Finally, they added the words “Who’s Never Coming Back” to end of the headline, referring to their insistence that Trump and his administration have no intention bringing Abrego Garcia back home, despite the ruling by a federal court ordering his return, which was upheld 9-0 by the Supreme Court. That’s gonna come in handy when hearings are held to determine whether Trump should be held in Contempt of Court.

For his part, Trump took time off from golfing to address this matter with a comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, saying that Van Hollen “looked like a fool,” who was “begging for attention.” And for that Trump called him a “grandstander.” All of which proves that Trump is still the master of projection and is staring into a mirror when composing his insults of others. Has there ever been a more foolish, attention grabbing, grandstander than Trump?

Trump DHS Official on Fox News Likens Wrongly Deported Migrant, Abrego Garcia, to Osama Bin Laden

Last month the Donald Trump Immigration Squad captured and deported Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadorian national married to a U.S. citizen, with no criminal record, and deported him to El Salvador on the basis of wholly unfounded charges of criminal and gang activities. They later admitted that the deportation was a mistake caused by what they called an “administrative error.”

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump, Immigrant, Child

Abrego Garcia was sent to a notoriously brutal gulag in El Salvador and has been held incommunicado ever since. Efforts to free him have been met with a barrage of lies and insults, while Trump himself ridiculously claims that he has no power to effectuate a return. It’s typical of his dishonest proclamations made to his MAGA media mouthpieces who are only there to serve Dear Leader.

SEE THIS: Trump Escalates His War on the Press – and the Courts – with Predictably Preposterous Results

On Monday night a Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary, Tricia McLaughlin, was interviewed on Fox News by devoted Trump-fluffer Will Cain. In the course of their discussion McLaughlin made a grotesque and grossly inappropriate association between Abrego Garcia and Al Qaeda terrorist, Osama Bin Laden…

“The media would love for you to believe that this is a media darling, that he is just a Maryland father. Osama Bin Laden was also a father, and yet, he was not a good guy. And they actually are both terrorists. He should be in this El Salvador prison, a prison for terrorists, and I hope he will remain there.”

DHS's Tricia McLaughlin: The media would love for you to believe that [Kilmar Abrego Garcia] is a media darling, that he's just a Maryland, father. Well Osama bin Laden was also a father and yet he wasn't a good guy, and they're actually both terrorists.

Nikki McCann Ramírez (@nikkimcr.bsky.social) 2025-04-14T20:31:35.429Z

Seriously? There is no record whatsoever of any criminal acts or violence by Abrego Garcia. And the Trump factions haven’t presented a scintilla of evidence of any of their charges against him. So it is profoundly defamatory to make unqualified accusations of any kind, especially associating them with terrorist leaders who massacred thousands of innocent people.

McLaughlin’s lame attempt to tar Abrego Garcia with the barbarism of Bin Laden is preposterous in the extreme. She could have just as well said that Trump is a terrorist because he is also a father and is responsible for the deaths of more than a million Americans due to his deliberate downplaying of the COVID pandemic. She could even have drawn a connection between Trump and Hitler, because both sent innocent people that they didn’t like to prisons (aka concentration camps), without due process of law.

McLaughlin was not alone in making such chilling and un-American remarks. Trump’s press secretary, Karoline Leavitt addressed the Abrego Garcia matter on Tuesday in the White House press briefing room. She responded to a reporter’s question saying that…

“The Democrat and media outrage over the deportation of Abrego Garcia, an ms-13 El Salvadorian illegal alien criminal who has been hiding in Maryland, has been nothing short of despicable. Based on the sensationalism of many of the people in this room, you would think we deported a candidate for father of the year. That’s because, unfortunately, many in this country care more about this ‘Maryland father,’ illegal MS-13 gang member, than an American mother and American citizen who was brutally murdered at the hands of a different illegal alien.”

https://bsky.app/profile/artcandee.bsky.social/post/3lmumojf72k2u

There is an abundance of derp in that statement. Let’s begin with the fact that Abrego Garcia was not “hiding” in Maryland. He had a family and a job and was a productive member of his community.

Leavitt went on to insult the reporters in the room by calling them “despicable” and engaging in “sensationalism,” simply because they pressed the administration to justify its treatment of a man for whom they had not provided any proof of the crimes that they alleged. And finally, Leavitt tried to connect the murdered mother to whom she referred with Abrego Garcia, who had nothing to do with that crime.

If anything is despicable about this, it’s the efforts by the Trump Propaganda Team to turn Abrego Garcia into a monster. They should immediately return him to his home and family. Then, if they have any evidence, they can present it to a court the way it’s done in America. Just making outlandish accusations with nothing to back then up is the sort of thing that is done in the totalitarian states, with autocratic tyrants, that Trump idolizes and seeks to emulate.

To those interested in some apt comparisons, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made one recently. And there is plenty of evidence to back it up. She was responding to the false accusations of Trump’s Propaganda Team that Abrego Garcia has a history of violence and sexual assault. You know who actually does have such a record? Donald Trump – with 34 felony convictions and dozens of allegations of sexual harassment and assault, including civil liability, with an adjudication that he’s a rapist, that resulted in a multimillion dollar judgment against him.

Trump’s Border Czar Confirms His (and Trump’s) Flaming Fascism in Fawning Fox News Interviews

Donald Trump made a multitude of promises for achievements he would accomplish on day one of his second occupation of the White House. They included lowering grocery and other consumer prices, ending Russia’s war against Ukraine, freeing all of the Gaza hostages, and repealing Obamacare. To no one’s surprise, he has miserably failed to fulfill most of his campaign promises (aka lies).

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump, Immigrant, Child

There were, however, a few promises that Trump managed to deliver. None of which advanced the interests of the American people. They include cuts to funding for climate change and environmental programs, curtailing DEI initiatives, pardoning January 6th insurrectionists who assaulted Police officers, imposing tariffs on allies that will burden Americans, weaponizing the Justice Department to attack judges and political critics, and suppression of the free press.

MORE HERE: What Is America? Who Votes For This?

Perhaps Trump’s most prominent promise was his pledge to implement a program of mass deportation of migrants and refugees. It was, from the start, an inhumane response to matters regarding immigration. What’s more, it ignored the critical need for migrant workers in agriculture, construction, and healthcare. But Trump never cared about any of that.

Consequently, Trump sought to execute plans aimed at ridding America of a necessary component of its labor force. But he has even failed at that. As a result, he has dispatched his “border czar” – a darkly appropriate job title – Tom Homan, to disseminate some lies on his Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News. Homan was interviewed by Fox’s Stuart Varney, who asked a rather simple question, but got a disturbing answer…

VARNEY: The administration said the worst of the worst were the people who would be held in Gitmo. But there’s an article in the Washington Post this morning that says some families members of those detained say they’re being falsely branded as members of Tren de Aragua. What’s your response to that?
HOMAN: That’s the Washington Post. President Trump’s been clear, we’re gonna put the worst of the worst in Gitmo. And I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: No one’s off the table. If you’re in the country illegally it’s not okay.

First of all, Homan casually dismisses the facts presented by Varney, simply because they came from the Washington Post. That’s typical of the Trump regime that is afraid to deal with reality, so they just toss it aside with infantile insults.

More to the point, Homan totally dodges the substance of the question to regurgitate tired Trump talking points. But his deflection is worth noting, When Homan says that “No one’s off the table,” he means it. So also on the table are…

  • People who have committed no crimes
  • People who are only accused but not convicted
  • American citizens wrongly apprehended
  • Family members who are here legally
  • Children and infants

They are all rounded up and incarcerated in the same facility as Al Qaeda terrorists. They have no legal rights or constitutionally mandated due process. It is the sort of police state action that is routine in Russia, China, and North Korea. All of which are authoritarian governments with leaders that Trump admires and seeks to emulate.

And if that weren’t bad enough, Homan then scurried off to another Fox News program where he implied that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was breaking the law by advising the targets of Trump’s interment operation of their civil rights. Homan went on to repeat his slander that migrants who have not had their day in court are nevertheless presumed guilty.

“”We’re talking about people that are in the country illegally, committed a crime, they’re a public safety threat, and they’ve been convicted of serious crimes.”

No, that is NOT what we’re talking about. He is only talking about people who are suspected of being in the country illegally. And even then, that is only a civil offense, not criminal. But the bigger problem is that the StormTrumpers who are apprehending people are catching citizens and other innocent people in their too broadly cast net. And even when they are told about that, that don’t care, and won’t change their actions. Because fascists don’t bother with the trivialities of the law if it gets in the way of their totalitarian aspirations.

Trump Insults America and its Justice Institutions as ‘SCUM’ Just Weeks Before His Inauguration

The new year is less than two days old and Donald Trump is already demonstrating that he has no comprehension whatsoever of how the people of America feel, or what the nation needs during challenging times. When most Americans are still wrapped up in the warmth and hopefulness of the holidays, Trump is affirming that he has nothing but disgust for the country that he is supposedly about to take charge of.

Donald Trump

There has never been a president who has been so openly disdainful of the country as Donald Trump. He never misses an opportunity to disparage the nation’s institutions and leaders. He regards them as incompetent, corrupt, dishonest, and determined to destroy him personally. He sees everything the government does as a conspiracy against him. Even on holidays, he doesn’t get a minute’s rest from his paranoid delusions.

SEE THIS: Trump Spends New Year’s Eve Whining About Whether the Senate Will Confirm His Noxious Nominees

So it should come as no surprise that Trump spent the days following New Year’s furiously flinging his middle finger at the country for offenses that exist only in his Neanderthal neuroses. He posted a comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that was drenched in the derangement of his malignant narcissism. In a post-midnight tirade, he raged that

“Our Country is a disaster, a laughing stock all over the World! This is what happens when’s you have OPEN BORDERS, with weak, ineffective, and virtually nonexistent leadership.”

Oh? So this is what happens “when’s” you have open borders? No wonder the country is a laughing stock. It has just reelected a clown who can’t speak the language. He also can’t tell the truth about anything. There is not now, and never has been, open borders in America. And undocumented border crossings have declined under President Biden to levels lower than during the first Trump administration. But Trump was just getting warmed up. He continued…

“The DOJ, FBI, and Democrat state and local prosecutors have not done their job. They are incompetent and corrupt.”

Trump’s open hostility toward the nation’s Justice Department and law enforcement ought to have disqualified him from reoccupying the White House. And for the record, the current Director of the FBI, Christopher Wray, was appointed by Trump. But in his mind he has a good reason for this rancor. He says that it’s because they have…

“…spent all of their waking hours unlawfully attacking their political opponent, ME, rather than focusing on protecting Americans from the outside and inside violent SCUM that has infiltrated all aspects of our government, and our Nation itself.”

Really? Does Trump actually believe that the DoJ and the FBI have spent “all of their waking hours” attacking him? Trump’s persecution complex may be even more gargantuan than his ego. And does he think that calling “all aspects of our government” “SCUM” is going to endear him to the administrators of the law and civil services that he thinks he will be managing?

Trump closed by saying that “Democrats should be ashamed of themselves.” But he doesn’t say for what. Perhaps it is for not being more aggressive in prosecuting him for his crimes. He also said that “The CIA must get involved, NOW, before it is too late.” Who is going to tell him that the CIA is prohibited from being involved in domestic law enforcement and politics? However, there is one thing that Trump got right. He said that…

“The USA is breaking down – A violent erosion of Safety, National Security, and Democracy is taking place all across our Nation.”

That’s true. Because “this is what happens when’s you have” MAGA-driven totalitarians who crave unchallenged power, and despise democracy, threatening their political foes and the free press. Somehow, this country needs to find a way to survive the anti-American aspirations of the incoming American president. Although he’s making it somewhat easier by being so open about his treasonous ways.

Following the Tragedy in New Orleans, Trump Lies About the Suspect, the Crime Rate, and Himself

New Year’s Eve is a time of celebration and hope for a future filled with the promise of peace and prosperity. This year however, for revelers in New Orleans it has become a nightmare due to a horrific attack by a hateful individual. At this time there are reports of ten fatalities and more than thirty others injured as a truck sped down Bourbon Street deliberately mowing down pedestrians.

Donald Trump WTF

While the investigation is in still progress, authorities believe that this was a terrorist act perpetrated by someone who was either affiliated with, or a sympathizer, of ISIS. It’s an unthinkable act of violence that has taken the lives of innocent people for no reason other than pure prejudice and hatred. But as awful as it was, it was made even worse by Donald Trump, who has an abhorrent compulsion to lie about everything in order to exalt himself.

FOR EXAMPLE: Donald Trump Celebrates Christmas with a Flurry of Fawning Tributes to Himself – As Usual

On Wednesday morning Trump took to his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, to express his thoughts about the monstrous crime New Orleans. And true to form he couldn’t help but lie flagrantly, while giving himself wholly undeserved credit for his previous lies. He posted that

“When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true. The crime rate in our country is at a level that nobody has ever seen before.”

Trump’s opening remarks were typically boasts about something that he believes is evidence of his magnificence. Then he lashes out with insults at his arch enemies, Democrats and the free press. But as anyone who has observed Trump over the years knows, none of what he said was remotely related to reality.

Trump began by bragging that he was right about the dangers posed by “the criminals coming in,” directly implying that the suspect in New Orleans, Shamsud Din Jabbar, was an immigrant. However, it has already been reported that he is a U.S. Army veteran born and raised in Texas. And it was Democrats and the media who were right to refute Trump’s xenophobic attacks on immigrants.

Trump also reiterated lies he has been telling for years about crime in America being “at a level that nobody has ever seen before.” That would be true if he meant that it is lower than it has been in many years. But, of course, he’s implying just the opposite. In fact, crime has been declining throughout the Biden administration.

Trump’s post is a grotesque response to a tragedy that he is trying to exploit for his own benefit and ego. It proves that he couldn’t care less about the victims, or their families, or the safety and welfare of the nation. But it is also a predictable response that is a hallmark of his malignant narcissism.

By blaming immigrants for a crime that was committed by a son of Texas, Trump is not only deflecting responsibility from the real perpetrators, he is endangering the lives of innocent people who emigrated to the U.S. legally, as well as those who came undocumented as refugees from violence and poverty.

But don’t try to explain that to his MAGA minions. They are already parroting his prejudice and telling similar lies about the suspect. Don Trump Jr, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and others have already posted false allegations that the suspect’s truck crossed the southern border two days ago. They got that from Fox News, who has already retracted the story.

In MAGA World, the suspect had to come from Mexico. Because to them immigrants are responsible for all manner of evil. That is, unless they are H-1B foreign workers that wealthy corporatists like Trump and Elon Musk need to hire at lower wages so they can fire Americans.

UPDATE: Rather than deleting or correcting his maliciously dishonest post, Trump followed up with a sickly insensitive post-midnight comment preposterously asserting that “TRUMP WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING!”

CNN’s Republican Shill Says Tariffs Are Not Enough, Proposes Starting a Drug War with Mexico

One of the absolute worst ideas that Donald Trump has proposed since becoming president-elect is his promise to impose new tariffs on China, Canada, and Mexico, America’s biggest trading partners. His justification for this is that it would serve as a lever to make them end the trafficking of drugs into the United States.

General Donald Trump on CNN

Never mind that economists and trade experts agree that such a reckless and ill-considered act “would significantly increase U.S. inflation next year [and] curtail economic growth.” Trump doesn’t really care about the welfare of the American people. If he did he wouldn’t lie to them so flagrantly and frequently.

SEE THIS: OUCH! Trump’s Flagrant Lies About 14,000 ‘Criminal’ Migrants Gets a Devastating Fact-Check

If the gullible rubes who voted for Trump think that he is going to lower the price of gas or eggs, they are going to be woefully disappointed. To the contrary, his plans will increase the costs of everything from fruit to toys to shoes to cars, and more. And to rub some salt into those wounds, it won’t have the slightest impact on drug trafficking.

Which makes the following exchange about Trump’s initiatives on CNN, between economic contributor Catherine Rampell and Republican hack Scott Jennings, all the more troubling…

Rampell: Mexico has actually put a lot more border security on its southern border.
Jennings: It’s really working wonders. This is crazy.
Rampell: Yes, again, border crossings are down 75 percent. They’re back to what they were under Trump.
Jennings: If I were [Mexican President Sheinbaum], I would be prepared for my country to possibly have United States military incursions to take out the drug factories and the people who do this to us too.
Rampell: So, you think we should not only have a trade war, we should have a military war with Mexico?
Jennings: I think we have to do what we have to do to stop the drugs.

So Jennings, who has previously supported deploying the military within the U.S. to round up immigrants for mass deportation, now also wants the Army to invade our allied neighbor to South to put an end to the Fentanyl crisis at home. The minions of MAGA have become the foremost advocates of military engagements. Unless, of course, it is aimed at preventing Vladimir Putin from invading and annexing our friends in Ukraine.

Rampell was correct to note that border crossings are down 75 percent. What’s more, most of the Fentanyl coming into the U.S. is brought in by American citizens through legal ports of entry. And there is a reason for the flood of drugs into the U.S. There’s a huge market for it. Fentanyl trafficking would end if Americans would stop buying it. It isn’t an international crime problem. It’s a domestic public health problem. These and other concerns were addressed by President Sheinbaum following Trump’s tariff threat…

“Mexico’s main exporters to the U.S. are General Motors, Stellantis and Ford Motor Company, which came to Mexico 80 years ago. Why put a tax on them that puts them at risk? It is not acceptable and would cause the U.S. and Mexico inflation and job losses.” […]

“Seventy percent of the illegal weapons seized from criminals in Mexico come from your country. We do not produce these weapons, nor do we consume synthetic drugs. Tragically, it is in our country that lives are lost to the violence resulting from meeting the drug demand in yours.”

The military “solution” that Jennings proposed would be worse than ineffective. It would be objectively harmful. It would put the lives American soldiers, as well as innocent Mexican civilians, at risk. It would do nothing to reduce drug trafficking because, as long as there is a demand, the traffickers will seek to fill it. They would just raise their prices along with the legal businesses who respond to the tariffs.

Worst of all, it would destroy the relationship between the U.S. and Mexico, it’s biggest trading partner. It would accelerate inflation at home, and waste billions of dollars and military resources.

Yet somehow CNN is comfortable having a regular contributor on their air making these preposterous and dangerous proposals. Jennings is not a serious conservative commentator. He is war mongering fanatic whose opinions are not worthy of being disseminated by any reputable news enterprise. And if CNN wants to be regarded as “reputable,” they need to dispose of Jennings.
