Justice Sotomayor’s Blistering Dissent to the Supreme Court’s Gift of Immunity to King Trump

After an interminable, deliberate, and unwarranted delay, the MAGA majority on the Supreme Court has finally ruled that convicted felon Donald Trump has some measure of immunity for so-called “official” conduct as president. It was a 6-3 ruling on predictably ideological lines.

What this means in practice is that the president is now unbound by the rule of law and may commit crimes at will with little to no consequences. In other words, what was once the office of the presidency is now the throne of a king. The court did not so much decide on immunity as impunity. And they did so with an election coming up that could return a recidivist criminal (Trump) to office.

The majority opinion delivered to Trump almost everything that he hoped for. And he thanked them in a series of posts on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social.

However, Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote a dissent that not only shredded the brazenly biased opinion written by Chief Justice John Roberts, it also sounded the alarm for the imminent danger that the nation faces in the event of the election of a president who takes advantage of the new totalitarian license provided by a court whose own members (Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito) are themselves legally and/or ethically tainted. Sotomayor wrote (with emphasis added) that…

“Today’s decision to grant former Presidents criminal immunity reshapes the institution of the Presidency. It makes a mockery of the principle, foundational to our Constitution and system of Government, that no man is above the law. Relying on little more than its own misguided wisdom about the need for ‘bold and unhesitating action’ by the President, the Court gives former President Trump all the immunity he asked for and more.” […]

“The President of the United States is the most powerful person in the country, and possibly the world. When he uses his official powers in any way, under the majority’s reasoning, he now will be insulated from criminal prosecution. Orders the Navy’s Seal Team 6 to assassinate a political rival? Immune. Organizes a military coup to hold onto power? Immune. Takes a bribe in exchange for a pardon? Immune. Immune, immune, immune.

“Let the President violate the law, let him exploit the trappings of his office for personal gain, let him use his official power for evil ends. Because if he knew that he may one day face liability for breaking the law, he might not be as bold and fearless as we would like him to be. That is the majority’s message today.

“Even if these nightmare scenarios never play out, and I pray they never do, the damage has been done. The relationship between the President and the people he serves has shifted irrevocably. In every use of official power, the President is now a king above the law.”

So what now? First and foremost, Trump must be soundly defeated in November. If reelected he has promised to exact “retribution” on his political foes. That means anyone who is less than unflinchingly loyal to him among members of Congress, judges and prosecutors, state officials, business leaders, private citizens, and journalists and media organizations.

Secondly, Congress must act to undo the atrocity that the Supreme Court has imposed. They must pass laws that explicitly hold the president accountable for crimes that he commits. They must reform the Supreme Court by adding new members, placing term limits on them, and enacting a code of ethics with real consequences for violators.

Finally, they should proceed to impeach Trump for the third time. That’s right. There is nothing that prohibits an impeachment for a former president. And if successful in the House, it can proceed to the Senate, giving them another opportunity to convict Trump and forbid him from holding any federal office. That would at least provide some protection from this particular criminal from becoming president again and committing more crimes under the Court’s now rules.

Does that sound like anyone you know? Convicted Felon Donald Trump has been documented to have told more than 30,000 lies during his occupation of the White House, and for the years that have followed. Many of those lies involved beliefs that are demonstrably untrue, such his claim that everybody, including liberals, wanted Roe v Wade reversed; his insistence that China paid billions in tariffs; his assertion that Democrats favor abortion after birth; his “Big Lie” that he won the 2020 presidential election; and too many more to enumerate.

On Sunday morning, Trump’s daughter-in-lawlessness, Lara Trump, who he installed as co-chair of the Republican National Committee, visited with the Fox News Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo. Part of their televised mutual admiration group therapy session included Lara revealing another one of Trump’s delusions of grandeur…

“You also heard whenever [Trump] was in Virginia at that campaign rally, him say ‘to anyone out there who is considering doing anything before I become president again, don’t even try it.’ The fact you have Donald Trump is leading the country right now when he is not officially yet back in the White House speaks volumes to the American people and, I think, to the rest of the world.”

That statement does, indeed, speak volumes. But not in the way that Lara thinks. It speaks to Trump’s delusional perception of himself as still possessing the powers of the presidency. It speaks to his authoritarian aspirations to wield that imaginary power with impotent threats that he has no ability to carry out. It speaks to his anti-American tendencies to obstruct any progress on behalf of the people unless it is overseen and sanctioned by him.

What’s more, Lara is actually advocating that Trump add to the list of felonies he is already guilty of. In saying that “He is leading despite the fact that Joe Biden is technically the President,” Lara is confessing that Trump is violating federal law (the Logan Act) that prohibits “negotiation by unauthorized American citizens with foreign governments.”

Trump himself has confessed these illegal acts in comments wherein he implied that he can personally arrange negotiated solutions with Vladimir Putin to problems with Russia, such as the war in Ukraine and the incarceration of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich. Trump has said that those problems would be resolved after the election, but only if he is the winner. So he’s virtually conspiring with Putin to hold U.S. objectives hostage and to obstruct resolutions unless his demands to reoccupy the White House are satisfied.

Lara’s comments not only expose the unlawfulness that is inherent in the Trump family, they reveal a toxic strain anti-Americanism that has infected the whole of the MAGA cult. They support Trump’s criminality, just as they have supported it when he was convicted of 34 felonies in Manhattan; and when he was found liable for $454 million for financial fraud; and when he was adjudicated as a rapist and ordered to pay $88 million to his victim. Not to mention the fraud he engaged in with his phony university and charitable foundation.

To describe Trump’s activities as akin to a crime syndicate would be unquestionably accurate. It would also be monstrously disturbing due to the fact that he is the chosen candidate of the Republican Party for president. And it doesn’t help matters to know that Fox News continues to buttress the depraved corruption of both the Trump family and the MAGA GOP.

HUH? Fox News and GOP Rep Think Democrats Will Draft Michelle Obama Due to Hunter Biden Verdict

As the 2024 presidential election cycle unfolds, one thing is becoming clearer with each passing day. The Republican Party is descending ever deeper into an abyss of desperation and unqualified madness at the heels of their convicted felon nominee for president. Donald Trump’s prospects are rapidly declining, and he is doing absolutely nothing to broaden his base of support beyond the MAGA cult clan that he caters to.

In response to this dilemma, Trump’s Ministry of Propaganda – aka Fox News – has leapt into action to buttress his sagging aspirations to reoccupy the White House and impose an authoritarian regime. In addition to embracing his convictions on 34 felony charges of falsifying business records and election finance fraud resulting from his “hush money” payoff to porn star Stormy Daniels, Fox News is clutching feverishly to some of the most bizarre and preposterous rationales to continue supporting their Dear Leader.

On Wednesday morning Fox News Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, interviewed GOP representative, Andy Ogles (TN-MAGA). Their discussion led to the following exchange that reveals just how far out on the limb of sanity they are willing to crawl.

Andy Ogles: I think that also creates an opening for Democrats to slip someone like Michelle Obama in here. The Biden family can say “Hey, we’re gonna take care of our house. We’re gonna take care of our son.” And allow Michelle Obama to come in and run. Because, again, Joe Biden can’t win this election, and they know that. And they are desperate for another candidate.
Bartiromo: I gotta tell you. I am increasingly thinking that Joe Biden withdraws from this race by the time November 5th comes along. I am buying into what you’re saying there because I agree that the Democrats are desperate right now. They are very worried.

That’s right. Bartiromo and Ogles have somehow twisted their perception of reality into one that accommodates an especially extreme crackpot conspiracy theory. They assert that the finding that Hunter Biden improperly filled out a form when he purchased a gun six years ago will somehow doom his father’s candidacy for reelection. They don’t explain why that would happen, but then they don’t have to. Their audience is comprised of cult followers who will believe whatever they are told to believe.

For the record, these are the same brilliant analysts who claimed that President Biden rigged the justice system to prevent Hunter from being convicted. After the guilty verdict they claimed that the system was rigged to convict Hunter as a distraction from bigger imaginary crimes. In effect, they are now claiming that Biden rigged the system to push himself out of the race because he can’t simultaneously love his son and serve as President. And their assertion that Democrats are desperate is pure projection.

But Bartiromo and Ogles weren’t finished spinning their fantastical fairy tale of political intrigue. After dumping President Biden, these two MAGA-nauts went on to predict that Democrats would nominate Michelle Obama in his place. Never mind that Obama has repeatedly insisted that she has no intention or desire to run for office. The suggestion that she would do so is based solely on their fears that Trump is likely to lose again to Biden, just like he did in 2020. However, this isn’t the first time that this suggestion has been floated by nervous Republicans.

Fox News and their Republican confederates have good reason to be afraid. Biden has presided over a booming economy. He has championed issues that the American people care about, including reproductive healthcare, tax equity, job creation, voting rights, adherence to democratic and constitutional principles, and support for international allies.

In the meantime, Trump had four disastrous years that left the nation poorer, sicker, more in debt, and more divided than ever. Then he left the White House kicking and screaming about election fraud, stole classified documents and lied about it to the FBI, tried to instigate a violent insurrection, and sought to strongarm state officials into altering election results. Since leaving office he has been adjudicated as a rapist, ordered to pay judgements of half a billion dollars, and has been convicted of multiple felonies.

The contrast between Biden and Trump could not be clearer. And that clarity is why Fox News and the Republican Party are inventing absurd scenarios that they think will deflect from the positive outlook for Biden and other Democrats. But even their manufactured “horror” stories are hysterically off base. Because Michelle Obama is among the most popular Americans of modern times, If she were actually a candidate, she would crush Trump. So you really have to wonder what Fox News is thinking. Or IF they’re thinking.

Mob Boss Trump Threatens to Sue News Group Over Story Exposing His Mob Boss Activities

The legal tribulations of convicted felon Donald Trump continue to pile up even after he was found guilty of 34 felonies related to his “hush money” payoff to adult film actor/producer, Stormy Daniels. Apparently being convicted of falsifying business records, and financial and tax fraud, wasn’t enough to deter Trump from launching new legal misadventures.

The highly respected investigative journalists at ProPublica have just published a story that reveals some more of the unscrupulous undertakings of Trump. The article alleges that many people associated with Trump have been the beneficiaries of generous financial rewards on or around the times that they were likely to be called upon as witnesses in his court cases. And anyone straying from total fealty to the boss had better think twice.

The ProPublica article digs deeply into the nefarious underworld endeavors of Trump, who has always run his operations like a two-bit Mafia family with little regard for the welfare of others or the law. The article began by saying that…

“Nine witnesses in the criminal cases against former President Donald Trump have received significant financial benefits, including large raises from his campaign, severance packages, new jobs, and a grant of shares and cash from Trump’s media company.

“The benefits have flowed from Trump’s businesses and campaign committees, according to a ProPublica analysis of public disclosures, court records and securities filings. One campaign aide had his average monthly pay double, from $26,000 to $53,500. Another employee got a $2 million severance package barring him from voluntarily cooperating with law enforcement. And one of the campaign’s top officials had her daughter hired onto the campaign staff, where she is now the fourth-highest-paid employee.”

These are the sort of crimes that experienced mobsters can disguise as legitimate business activities. However, ProPublica does a thorough job of putting the puzzle pieces together to prove that Trump might have been trying to improperly influence witness testimony. Which explains why Trump is so worried about the article that he has already threatened ProPublica with a lawsuit for publishing it…

“Trump’s attorney, David Warrington, sent ProPublica a cease-and-desist letter demanding this article not be published. The letter warned that if the outlet and its reporters ‘continue their reckless campaign of defamation, President Trump will evaluate all legal remedies.'”

Those types of threats are a hallmark of criminal operations that get what they want through intimidation. “Nice little news site you have there. I’d hate to see something happen to it.” And ProPublica named names with regard to the Trump flunkies that allegedly received financial incentives to lie for him, or to decline to testify, as well as what they received. They include…

  • Boris Epshteyn, Trump campaign adviser: Benefit: Pay more than doubled.
  • Susie Wiles, Head of Trump campaign: Benefit: Payments to firm spiked, campaign hired her daughter.
  • Dan Scavino, Trump aide: Benefit: Appointed to board of Trump Media.
  • Evan Corcoran, Trump lawyer: Benefit: Payments to his law firm dramatically increased.
  • Allen Weisselberg, Trump Organization executive: Benefit: Lucrative severance package.

Trump’s civil litigation threats are too numerous to enumerate. He has been described as the most litigious man in America. Although most of the time he never follows through or, when he does, the cases are dismissed by the court, or dropped by Trump, for lack of merit. That, however, doesn’t diminish the harm it causes by making innocent parties waste time and money on malicious lawsuits. And it isn’t a coincidence that so many of Trump’s lawsuits are aimed at the free press that he refers to in Stalinist terms as “the enemy of the people.”

This threat by Trump, like most of those before it, will likely evaporate into the legal ether. But what remains is the stench of Trump’s malevolence and purposeful hostility toward anyone that dares to tell the truth about him. And even though it never seems to work to deter his critics, he can be expected to try it again and again. Impotent threats are the last refuge of cretins like Trump who have no other means to evade the harsh reality that they fear.

Trump Desperately Clings to Fox News Legal Hacks Who Ignore the Law to Fluff Trump

There is now a predictable ritual that occurs every time that Donald Trump makes an appearance in court. Immediately following the hearing Trump ambles out to a nearby rabble of reporters gathered to record his post-trial rants (and the press really needs to stop doing that). With the jury now selected we can expect to see these staged sniveling sessions on a near daily basis for the next few weeks.

Never mind that there is never anything newsworthy to report from these disgorgements of grievances. It’s just Trump repeating the same complaints he does whenever a camera is pointed at him. He’s either crying about being a helpless victim or falsely accusing everyone from the judge to the prosecutors to the witnesses to the jury, of being biased against him in what he insists is a “rigged” trial that he should never have had to endure.

On Thursday Trump brought some props to his circus act. He awkwardly rifled through a stack of printouts someone provided for him of articles from sycophantic right-wing media. He was presenting them as “proof” that the charges against him were unfounded. But they were pretty weak evidence. He read off a few of his sources, and they were all Fox News legal analysts…

“Jonathan Turley. Gregg Jarrett. Andrew McCarthy. Every one of them saying, they call it a zombie case, meaning it is no case. And they say it’s unconstitutional. They don’t think the case is…These are all stories that have taken place over the last few days.”

Well then, that settles it. Dismiss the case and let Trump return to the comfort of his Mar-a-Lago bunker. He later claimed that these article represented all of the opinions about his case, saying that “I haven’t seen one that says it’s a good trial.”

Apparently Trump has a very narrow field of vision. He obviously hasn’t seen the opinions of respected legal experts like Lawrence Tribe, Andrew Weissmann, Joyce Vance, Neal Katyal, Michael Luttig, Barbara McQuade, Glenn Kirschner, Jill Wine-Banks, and even his own former attorney, Ty Cobb. All of whom regard the case against Trump as strong and likely to lead to a conviction.

As affirmation that what Trump is doing is a joke, his courtside spectacle was addressed by Jimmy Kimmel in his monologue Thursday night, who noted that…

“The MAGA media, they’re doing everything they can to push this idea that this won’t be a fair trial. That way, when he loses, they can say the jury was rigged.”

Then Kimmel played a series of clips of people on Fox News and Newsmax insisting that Trump can’t a get fair trial because Manhattan is chock full of Trump haters. Which is interesting, because Trump is also saying this….

It’s also interesting that these Trump-fluffers in the wingnut press are baselessly alleging that liberals are lying to get on the jury, but they never mention the possibility of Trump cultists doing so. Even though some MAGA crackpots are explicitly encouraging it.

Clearly the only threat to a fair trial is being posed by Trump and his MAGA minions. Along with those who are trying to taint the jury, there people like Sean Hannity and Jesse Watters who are trying to intimidate prospective jurors by revealing identifying information about them on the air.

Hopefully their tactics won’t work, and the trial will proceed to a fair conclusion. And hopefully, in the interim, the media will refrain from airing Trump’s sideshow antics during the intermissions.

IT’S A CULT: GOP Governor Still Embraces Trump After Hearing a Summary of His Lies and Crimes

The political support for Donald Trump has always been centered on his tabloid celebrity status as a fake real estate magnate and reality TV game show host. The willful ignorance of his supporters matched his own reckless abandon of knowledge and facts, in favor of silly slogans and the shameless exploitation ultra-rightist wedge issues.

As a result, what Trump calls the “MAGA movement” has devolved into a full blown cult of personality. His glassy-eyed disciples don’t bother to pretend that they have any interest in the substance of his positions or concern for his abhorrent behavior. They view his words and actions as divinely inspired no matter how far removed they are from the ethical doctrine they profess to believe. And they have a Media Ministry that molds their skewed perceptions to a faux reality, enabling them to maintain their craven “faith” in Trump.

An example of the disturbing depths of devotion to the Trump cult was provided during an interview on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” of the Republican governor of New Hampshire, Chris Sununu. Stephanopoulos tried several times to get Sununu to explain how he could continue to support Trump for president even after conceding that Trump had committed serious breaches of ethics and the law. Finally Stephanopoulos sought to condense the question in order to elicit a straight answer. Suffice to say that Sununu failed the test despite the clearly defined summation of Trump’s treachery…

Stephanopoulos: Just to sum up. You support Trump for president even if he’s convicted in the classified documents case. You support him for president even though you believe he contributed to an insurrection. You support him for president even though you believe he’s lying about the last election. You support him for president even if he’s convicted in the Manhattan case. I just want to say, the answer to that is yes, correct?
Sununu: Yeah. Me and 51 percent of America.

So Sununu, like the rest of the Trump cult, will continue to back Trump even if he violated the Espionage Act, incited a deadly insurrection, is a pathological liar, and a convicted felon. Stephanopoulos left out that their support also continues after Trump has been found liable for financial fraud, and has been adjudicated as a rapist.

It is also notable that Sununu’s response, in addition to being nauseating, is patently false. It is not true that “51 percent of America” supports Trump. His polling average is consistently in the low 40’s. And much of that is just support for the Republican candidate, not for Trump. Recent polls show President Biden beating Trump. And on the eve of the start of Trump’s election interference trial in New York, a majority of Americans say that Trump has committed serious crimes.

What’s more, the alleged popularity of Trump is irrelevant to the question of whether he should be supported or not. Would Sununu continue to support Trump if were found to have committed rape? Oh, wait… What if he had stolen classified documents? Oh, wait… What if his university and charity were shuttered due to fraud? Oh, wait… What if he shot someone on 5th Avenue? That’s the ticket. He hasn’t done that yet. He’s only bragged about being able to.

This is how cults work. Members are not permitted to have independent thoughts. They must believe only Dear Leader. Everyone else must be considered to be lying to them. Everything that Dear Leader does is sanctified, no matter how repulsive. And Sununu, just like the rest of the Trump cult, is cool with that.

Fox News Advises Criminals (e.g. Trump) to Commit Crimes in Red States to Get Friendly Juries

The defendant, Donald Trump, has been whining plaintively that “Nothing like this has ever happened before.” And in another historic first, he’s right. But only because no other president has ever been such a brazen perpetrator of crimes.

Monday’s proceedings involve Trump’s election interference and federal election financial fraud, in a matter that the media is soft-pedaling as the “Hush Money” case. Trump has been shamelessly conducting his years-long crime spree in the open, convinced that he is entitled to violate any laws he chooses with impunity. He literally confesses to the charges against him, but argues that an imaginary doctrine of “presidential immunity” releases him from any legal consequences.

Naturally, Trump’s Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News, is buttressing his ludicrous legal excuses with equally bizarre rationale. Like Trump, they believe that he cannot be held accountable for any of the 88 felony charges currently pending against him, but that President Biden has no such immunity and must be immediately incarcerated without trial or evidence.

However, in a segment on Saturday morning, Fox and Friends co- hosts Rachel Campos-Duffy and Pete Hegseth went even further to offer legal counsel to any conservatives watching who might be contemplating committing any crimes…

Campos-Duffy: You know, maybe subconsciously people are realizing, you know, I could have trouble with the law at some point. Something could happen to me. Do I want to be in a red state or a blue state, you know? This is a case where, you know, the outcome of your case is determined by the jury pool and where you’re at. And so, you know, I think it’s interesting that maybe you wanna be in a red state if you’re conservative, because at least you’ll get a, you know, a jury of your peers. Somebody who will…
Hegseth: He wants a fair shake.

First of all, what allegedly professional television communicator inserts the interjection “you know” six times in a brief comment? Does she have any idea what she’s talking about? And who are these prospective criminals (including herself) that Campos-Duffy says are “subconsciously realizing” that they’re gonna have trouble with the law?

More to the point, Campos-Duffy is affirmatively advocating that conservatives plan and execute their unlawful deeds in red states (i.e. states populated and governed by Republicans), where she believes they will be given more favorable treatment by the potential jurors there. In effect, she’s asserting that red states are more tolerant of crime and criminals. Which might explain why, contrary to GOP gaslighting, crime rates are actually higher in red states.

What’s more, Campos-Duffy thinks that “a jury of your peers” means jurors who are aligned with you politically. Which, of course, is preposterous. Clearly her opinion is driven by her hopes that a jury of Trump supporters would acquit him, not because he’s innocent, but because they are idolatrous cult disciples who don’t care that he’s guilty.

Notice also that Hegseth cuts Campos-Duffy off at the end of her remarks to prevent her from saying that a defendant in a red state could get a jury with “Somebody who will…” What? Let him off the hook? Hang the jury? Let’s face it, Trump and his ilk are not looking for a “fair shake.”

So Trump’s first criminal trial is set to begin Monday in his home state of New York. But that doesn’t satisfy the Trump-fluffers at Fox News. They have actually argued that “fairness” would require a venue change to someplace like Alabama. Now Fox is warning any aspiring felons that “maybe you wanna be in a red state if you’re conservative.” And if they are listening, we may see a surge of crimes by conservatives in MAGA Land. Where “at least you’ll get a, you know, a jury of your peers.”

Trump Says All Presidents Must Have ‘Total Immunity’ from Crimes – Except for President Biden

Next week jury selection will begin for the first criminal trial of Donald Trump. In fact, it’s the first criminal trial of any former American president. Trump is outraged because, as he incessantly whines, “Nothing like this has ever happened before.” But that’s only because there hasn’t been any other persistently profligate perpetrator of crimes like Trump before.

The peculiar thing about Trump’s legal misadventures is that his defense rarely involves providing arguments that he is innocent. More often than not he defends himself by asserting that it is improper to accuse him of anything because he has the imaginary security blanket of “presidential immunity” that frees him from any consequences for any crimes he feels like committing. Nothing like that exists in the law, but he clings to it desperately.

On Wednesday Trump took to his failing social media scam, Truth Social, to unleash his intensifying trepidation of being convicted for any number of the 88 felony charges he has currently pending. He posted a couple of fear-drenched videos on the subject of immunity that illustrate just how addled and irrational he is. The first began…

“If a President doesn’t have immunity, he or she will be nothing more than a ceremonial president, rarely having the courage to do what has to be done for our country and to make our country great again. This is not what our Founders had in mind at all. This is not what they wanted to think about. This not where they wanted us to be. The founders wanted the president to have immunity so the president can feel free to make decisions. Hopefully they’ll be great decisions. But whether they are or not, a president of the United States has to have immunity.”

Trump is apparently unaware that every president prior to him was not hampered in the least in their decision making by this made up obstacle. And he doesn’t bother to provide any evidence that the Founders were worried about it either. It’s a weak concept that he made up – or more likely one of his sleazy attorneys made up – to get him off the hook. However, about an hour and a half later, Trump posted another video that completely contradicted the first one…

“At what point are the actions of a sitting president, using lawfare and weaponization against his opponent for purposes of election interference, considered illegal? I believe, as do various highly respected legal scholars, that “crooked” Joe Biden has long since crossed over that very sacred threshold. He is a criminal. He is a horrible president. He is the worst president in the history of the country. And the only way he thinks he can get elected is to take me to trial, take me to court, city, state, and federal. They control them all. All of these cases you read about are “crooked” Joe Biden’s case because he can’t put two sentences together. He can’t do anything. So they weaponize government and they take me to court on bullsh*t. So we are going to win. We are going to win big. We’re gonna go through these horrible Biden trials. And the end of the day, November 5th, everyone’s coming out to vote for Trump.”

So according to Trump, all presidents must have total immunity. Except, of course, for President Biden, who Trump claims is acting illegally, even though he previously insisted that that isn’t possible for a president. Trump went on to smear Biden saying that “He is a criminal. He is a horrible president. He is the worst president in the history of the country.” In Trump’s twisted mind his opponents can never be merely wrong or have a different opinion. They are always the worst of all time of whatever he is accusing them of.

What’s more, Trump disgorges his tiresome and baseless lies that Biden is an evil genius who controls every lever of power, city, state, and federal, despite being unable to “put two sentences together.”

Trump closes by dismissing the charges against him with a bit of profanity that his glassy-eyed cult followers love so much. Then he expresses confidence that he will ultimately prevail simply by the virtue of his god-given superpowers. Once again, he doesn’t offer any coherent defense via innocence.

A little while later, Trump posted a comment that elaborated on his assault on the judicial public servants he believes are tormenting him…

“Crooked Joe Biden and his crew of Hacks and Thugs, led by Merrick Garland and Deranged Jack Smith, are working overtime to try to illegally intimidate and harass respected Federal Judge Aileen Cannon. They are calling her terrible names.”

It was thoughtful of Trump to praise Judge Cannon, the obviously biased Trump toady who is doing everything she can to shield Trump from accountability. And there is a perverse irony in his complaint that some unnamed persons have been “calling her terrible names.” How dare they? He’s probably upset because that’s his thing. Anyone else throwing around Trump-style infantile insults is stealing his identity and infringing on his anti-intellectual property. Not that anyone is actually doing that – or would want to. It’s just another outlet for his obnoxious animosity.

Eric Trump Tells Fox News that Daddy Trump is Making Millions of Dollars Off His Court Cases

Trump spent his term in office pandering to the likes of Vladimir Putin of Russia, and Muhammad bin Salmon of Saudi Arabia, in order to rake in cash to prop up his failing real estate enterprise. And he spent his years after being evicted from the White House fleecing his flock of cult followers with flagrant lies about “rigged and stolen” elections and whining about being justly prosecuted for his multitude of crimes.

Virtually everything Trump does is an appeal for funds. That’s because he desperately needs the money pay lawyers and spokesmodels (sometimes the same person) in a futile effort to avoid conviction for crimes ranging from financial fraud to election interference to violations of the Espionage Act. Consequently, he has resorted to hawking cheesy merchandise such as gold sneakers and a Trump-endorsed bible.

On Wednesday morning Trump spawn Eric was interviewed on Fox News by Brian Kilmeade, co-host of Fox and Friends. During the segment Eric let slip a bit of the truth about his father’s compulsive greed…

Kilmeade: For six to eight weeks, he [Donald Trump] could be stuck in a New York courtroom. That’s Monday through Thursday, eight to 10 hours a day. How do you overcome that? What’s the plan to overcome it? It’s not gonna be a surprise.
Trump: Every single time he walks into a courtroom, millions and millions of dollars flow in because the American people know exactly what’s happening to him. And you have a judge who has a family member who literally profits off of these cases. She was making millions and millions off of these cases. Whose Twitter profile is literally my father behind bars, and that’s what New York has become.”

So according to Mr. Eric, Daddy Morebucks is profiting bigly from his misadventures in the judicial system. That shouldn’t surprise anyone. Trump has been shamelessly and repeatedly begging for donations from his cult to rescue him from the reaches of the law. He’s pretending that it’s all a huge conspiracy to destroy him. For instance, on the same morning as this interview, Trump posted a comment on his failing social media scam, Truth Social, bemoaning the dreadfulness of his pathetic life, saying that…

“The White House Thugs should not be allowed to have these dangerous and unfair Biden Trials during my campaign for President. […] On Monday I will be forced to sit, GAGGED, before a HIGHLY CONFLICTED & CORRUPT JUDGE, whose hatred for me has no bounds.

Poor thing. What’s surprising is that Eric is admitting on national television that Daddy Trump’s plaintive wailing about being allegedly persecuted are bullcrap. He isn’t really seething with the anger that he pretends to have. He’s actually thrilled with the wealth that it’s generating. Eric makes that clear by answering the question as to how Trump will “overcome” being “stuck in a courtroom” by replying that it isn’t a burden that needs to be “overcome” at all. It’s a strategy that he’s pursuing.

In addition to that revelation from Eric, he also blatantly lies that the judge and his daughter are “making millions and millions off of these cases.” They are not, and he doesn’t even bother to provide any hint of proof of slanderous accusation. He also accuses the judge’s daughter of posting a picture of him behind bars. That has also been proven to be false.

So the next time you hear Trump lamenting his fate, remember that, according to Eric, it’s really just another grift by the Trump Crime Family. And the only reason he is running at all is to cash in financially, and to stay out of prison.

Is Trump Now Saying that Presidents Do Not Have ‘Total Immunity’ – Or Just that Biden Doesn’t?

For the first time in history America has a former president who has been indicted civilly and criminally for acts taken that breach the principles and/or laws of the nation. He has already been found liable for financial fraud, defamation, and sexual assault. And he has at least 88 felony charges still pending.

In response to these unprecedented acts of misconduct, Trump has embarked on a relentless smear campaign against prosecutors, judges, courts, the Justice Department, and of course, President Biden. As with every allegation ever made against him, Trump dismisses them by crying “witch hunt” and “hoax,” and by maligning the public servants that he perceives as his enemies. But perhaps the most overwrought whine that Trump has been employing is his belief that some amorphous authority grants him “total immunity” for any crimes that he has committed.

Trump spends more time lamenting his pathetic victimhood than he does asserting his alleged innocence. Therefore, he needs an immunity defense in order to avoid the consequences of his criminality. He insists that no president can make a decision without being indemnified, for fear of being held accountable by the law. Never mind that 45 of the other 46 presidents in American history have not needed that exemption from prosecution.

Trump has never been able to cite a legal justification for his claim to absolute immunity. Although his attorneys did argue in court that even if a president were to have a political foe assassinated, he could not be prosecuted. Which is a peculiar argument for them to make while Biden is currently sitting in the White House.

Trump’s license to break the law, however, has just been thrown into legal limbo by his latest remarks on his failing social media scam, Truth Social. In a pair of comments he is now categorically contradicting himself. In the first one Trump wrote that…

“At what point are the actions of a sitting President, using LAWFARE against his opponent for purposes of Election Interference, considered ILLEGAL? I believe, as do various highly respected legal scholars, that Crooked Joe Biden has long since crossed over that very sacred threshold!!!”

So Trump is now conceding that actions taken by a president can, in fact, be “considered ILLEGAL,” and therefore prosecuted. Which is consistent with his prior assertions that Biden should be jailed for imaginary offenses that exist only in Trump’s twisted mind. But Trump wasn’t through. He also posted that…

“People must continue to speak of, and remember, that the Engoron number of $450,000,000 for doing absolutely NOTHING WRONG is a big part of the crime being perpetrated against me by Crooked Joe Biden and his political Hacks and Thugs.”

Here Trump is charging that rulings made by an independent judge are actually “a big part of the crime being perpetrated against me by Crooked Joe Biden.” So once again, he is conceding that presidents are not immune from prosecution for crimes after all. Consequently, prosecutions of Trump are legitimate and warranted.

No one should be surprised that Trump is exhibiting a heaping helping of hypocrisy. In his mind his recent accusations of crimes are entirely consistent with his past invocation of immunity. Because in his mind that immunity is only valid for ex-presidents named Trump. Like everything else in the Cult of Trump, he is afforded the privileges of the Dear Leader, and his critics are cast into the lake of fire. That is, after all, how cults work.
