Tucker Carlson is Vying for the Coveted ‘Fox News A-Hole of All Time’ Award

The Fox News Channel has long been the mouthpiece for an extremist right-wing agenda and the most radical fringes of the Republican Party. It’s what it was created to do by its founders Rupert Murdoch (an ultra-conservative media baron) and Roger Ailes (a GOP media consultant). And they have vigorously pursued their mission to distort the news and deceive their eagerly misled viewers.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson

Over the years there has been a parade of lying charlatans on the network who shamelessly spread blatant disinformation and propaganda. They included such nefarious luminaries as Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck, Megyn Kelly, the recently terminated Lou Dobbs, and of course, the veteran of venality, Sean Hannity.

With such a stellar cast of cretins it’s hard to imagine that anyone else could sink below that roster and achieve new depths of disgust. But there is one Fox News stalwart who is unafraid of the formidable competition and is willing to debase himself sufficiently to descend to unprecedented new lows.

Tucker Carlson is undoubtedly Fox’s new leader in political lechery. He has earned this dishonor over many years of fashioning diatribes filled with flagrant falsehoods and hate speech. However, his most recent rants are testaments to his determination to reign as the Fox News GOAT (Grossest Of All Time). Just this week Carlson has unleashed these nauseating tirades:

Coronavirus Vaccines Are a Plot by the Left to Suppress Free Speech and Even Freedom Overall
Wherein Carlson asks a bunch of question about vaccines for which the answers are readily available, but because he’s too stupid to look them up, he insists they don’t exist and everyone is lying about it. The truth is that Carlson lied about virtually everything in this tirade. And his lies are going to get people killed by dissuading them from getting vaccinated. Media Matters answered his questions for him here:

George Floyd Died of a Drug Overdose, not the Cop’s Knee on His Throat for Eight Minutes
Wherein Carlson tries to divert attention from Trump’s historic second impeachment hearing in the Senate by bashing Black Lives Matter and making excuses for murderous cops. Which is a pretty wild diversion. And once again, according to Carlson everyone else is lying when it’s really just Carlson. He falsely asserts that George Floyd didn’t die of asphyxiation from having a cop’s knee on his throat for more than eight minutes. Carlson says he died of a drug overdose, like all Black “criminals” who defy authority.

Here’s the truth: The Hennepin County medical examiner ruled Floyd’s death a homicide due to “cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression.” Also, an independent autopsy determined Floyd died of “asphyxia from sustained pressure” on his neck and back that led to “impeded blood flow to the brain.” The report concluded that “Floyd has no underlying medical condition that would have contributed to his death.”

Defending Your Right To Believe That Democrats Eat Babies
Wherein Carlson’s segment sported a graphic that read “DEMS ARE TRYING TO CONTROL WHAT YOU BELIEVE,” although he never presented a single example of that. He began his demented dissertation on the dangers of censorship by sarcastically pronouncing that “The real threat is a forbidden idea, it’s something called QAnon.” This was his lead-in to a full-throated support for the crackpot conspiracy theorists.

Fomenting Civil War With Insanely Paranoid Lies
Wherein Carlson claims that Democrats are mounting a literal war against Republicans, with soldiers and everything. No, really. He actually said that Democrats “declared war on their rival political party. Not, by the way, a metaphorical war, but an actual one, with soldiers, paramilitary law enforcement, and the world’s most powerful intelligence agencies.”

This list could go on and on. But the point is made that Carlson is now the undisputed King of Crackpottery. And an especially dangerous brand of it. He is inciting violence with frightening tales of cannibalistic, freedom-hating Democrats. He is exacerbating the worst public health crisis in a century by maligning efforts to impede the COVID pandemic. He is stirring up his white supremacist audience to ever more noxious states of bigotry. And he is doing all of this tangible harm from his perch on Fox News where his ratings are higher than Hannity’s. Although the network suffered a sharp decline after the November election and is currently in third place behind CNN and MSNBC.

Fox News lawyers actually argued successfully in court that Carlson cannot not be held liable for the lies he tells because he “cannot be understood to have been stating facts,” and that “given Mr. Carlson’s reputation, any reasonable viewer ‘arrive[s] with an appropriate amount of skepticism’ about the statements he makes.” In other words, no reasonable viewer would believe Carlson’s BS. That’s according to the Fox News lawyers speaking on Carlson’s behalf.

The problem is that Carlson doesn’t have any reasonable viewers. So the cult disciples he’s disinforming on a nightly basis will blindly buy into whatever he says. And for that reason he’s earned the Fox News A-Hole of All Time Award. It’s an award that ought to be accompanied by a rapid cancelation so as to prevent any further harm to the nation. Sadly, Fox News is more likely to give him a raise and another hour to spew his bullcrap. Consequently, It might be more productive to do this: Un-Fox My Cable Box For more info on that, read this.

Fox News Cuts Away From Senate Impeachment Hearing During the Most Horrifying Parts

The historic second Senate Impeachment hearing of Donald Trump is unfolding with nauseating evidence of the assault by Trump’s Seditionist Brigades. It is new security camera video from inside the Capitol and shows the insurrectionists, as well as the members of Congress and the staffs being ushered to relative safety.

Be sure to visit and follow News Corpse on Instagram.

Fox News, Censorship

These videos would make any sane, patriotic American cringe at the thought of how Trump and his cult followers desecrated the seat of American democracy and threatened the lives of representatives and others performing their constitutional duties. This treasonous riot in progress was among the most compelling parts of the House impeachment manager’s presentation.

So naturally, Fox News stopped airing it. All three broadcast networks, along with CNN and MSNBC aired it all live. But Fox thought it was more important to show their viewers what the screwball pundits on The Five had to say about the day’s news, some of which had nothing to do with the Senate hearing. The last thing Fox News wanted was to show videos of the Trump Brigades breaking into the Capitol and terrorizing innocent people.

This is more evidence that Fox News is NOT news. In fact, they are afraid the news. and they are afraid to allow their viewers to see what really happened on January 6. They need to keep them as ignorant as possible so they will continue to believe the Trump propaganda. And it really doesn’t matter what they show instead.

In this case it was a segment about an NBA team owner who briefly said he wouldn’t play the National Anthem before a game. And Fox thought that was the most pressing news at that moment in time. Seth Myers nailed on Tuesday night in his “Closer Look” segment when he said that “The smaller the story Fox News is focusing on, the bigger the story they’re ignoring is.”

The Daily Show’s Depiction of Drooling, Doting Trump Disciple Lou Dobbs is Delicious

Last week Fox News abruptly canceled Lou Dobbs Tonight, featuring their Senior Donald Trump Bootlicker and Fawning Fanboy, Lou Dobbs. It was the number one show on their low-rated Fox Business Network. They bounced Dobbs from the Friday broadcast without notice or even an opportunity to thank or say goodbye to his production team and viewers. That is unheard of except in cases of severe misconduct, such as the cancelation of Bill O’Reilly over multiple sexual harassment allegations.

Be sure to visit and follow News Corpse on Instagram.

Fox News, Lou Dobbs

The explanation by Fox News was pitifully vague and insufficient. They claimed that they were planning programming changes for months. But if that were true, there would have been plenty of time for Dobbs to sign off gracefully and a replacement program would have premiered the next day. What Fox isn’t talking about is the lawsuit brought by Smartmatic, the voting systems software company that is suing Fox for $2.7 billion, and for which Dobbs is a named defendant despite a lame attempt to avoid liability.

Meanwhile, the Daily Show produced a touching video farewell to “Lou Dobbs, the most North Korean broadcaster America has ever seen.” It revealed his embarrassingly sycophantic worship of Dear Leader Trump. And it’s a hilarious presentation of just how madly Dobbs adored the twice impeached former reality TV game show host. See and enjoy for yourselves:

For the record, here are a few of the choice excerpts that expose Dobbs’ undying devotion to the love of his life:

  • “We have a president who is a true leader in my opinion. One I happen to believe will be regarded as one of our country’s greatest presidents, indeed, the greatest.”
  • “Have you ever seen a man as strong?”
  • “He’s already set a standard for presidents that most mortals won’t be able to meet.”
  • “I think he’s doing God’s work … God sent this president.”
  • “It will be century after century of veneration for this president.”
  • “Have a great weekend. The President makes such a thing possible for us all.”

And whiping the drool off his chin, Dobbs signs off the air. He will likely be be seen again on One America News Network (OANN), or some other weak Fox News wannabe. Meanwhile, Fox will probably slip former Trump advisor Larry Kudlow into the Dobb’s time slot. Which means that nothing will really change.

WTF? Trump Flunkies on Fox News Blame Pelosi for Plot to Assassinate Herself

The second Senate impeachment trial for Donald Trump will commence next Tuesday. And the approaching spectacle is driving up the anxiety levels of Trump’s apologists in Congress and the right-wing press. Consequently, their arguments in defense of the “former social media influencer” (h/t Colin Jost of SNL) are becoming ever more bizarre and downright hysterical.

Be sure to visit and follow News Corpse on Instagram.

Fox News, Nancy Pelosi

Trump knows that he has no plausible defense. That’s why he is too afraid to accept the Senate’s invitation to make the case for his own innocence. He knows that there is too much evidence against him in the form of videos and the testimony of his cult disciples. And much of the evidence that Democrats will present at the trial is Trump’s own words. So at his lawyers’ direction, he is remaining sequestered in his Mar-a-Lago bunker imagining what he would be tweeting if he were still able to.

Meanwhile, Trump sycophants marched off to defend the dishonor of the Insurrectionist-in-Absentia. Two of them bravely faced the barrage of softballs pitched by Fox News’ Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo. Although her network colleague Lou Dobbs was unceremoniously dismissed for disseminating flagrantly defamatory lies, Bartiromo, for the moment, still has a job. And on Sunday she exploited her platform to feature a pair of shameless mouthpieces for Trump.

There appears to have been some message coordination between the Trump spokes-weasels. Or else both of them just independently decided to launch the same ridiculous attacks on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The gist of the synchronized assaults was that Pelosi secretly plotted the Capitol riots that place the lives of her congressional colleagues at risk. And even worse, they allege that she was complicit with the conspiracy to assassinate herself.

For instance, Bartiromo interviewed Wisconsin Senator and alleged Russian agent, Ron Johnson. in the seemingly scripted segment, Johnson addressed Trump’s impeachment and the charges that Trump incited the violence that took place in his name:

“We now know that forty-five Republican senators believe that it’s unconstitutional. Is this another diversionary operation? Is this meant to deflect away from potentially what the Speaker knew and when she knew it? I don’t know, but I’m suspicious.”

First of all, there is no constitutional prohibition to the impeachment of Trump (which occurred while he was still in office), or the Senate trial, which the Constitution actually mandates. The fact that forty-five cowardly and biased Republicans voted to exonerate their Dear Leader is legally irrelevant.

Secondly, Johnson’s insinuation of some sort of “diversionary operation” is nonsense on steroids. He doesn’t bother to say what it’s diverting from. Nor does he explain what Pelosi could have known that would make her seek a diversion from the criminal attack on Congress by Trump cultists who were screaming their intention to kill the Pelosi, as well as Mike Pence.

If that weren’t bad enough, Johnson was followed by Trump’s former Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows. Bartiromo pressed Meadows to address the inadequate law enforcement response to Trump’s Seditionist Brigades. And in doing so, he attempted to shift the blame to Pelosi saying that the problem rested on some bad decisions:

“Some of those decisions weren’t made appropriately in my opinion. And those decisions did not come from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. They came from the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue.”

The record shows that Pelosi and her staff had tried repeatedly to support the Capitol Police and provide back up with National Guard troops. Those efforts were stymied by Trump. And, once again, it wouldn’t make any sense to suggest that Pelosi wanted to cripple the law enforcement personnel who were there to protect her. However, Meadows and Johnson” remarks perfectly fit the character (or lack thereof) of the Republican hypocrites who are now maligning the police who were among the victims.

One of things we’ve learned since the emergence of the Trump cult is that making sense is very low on their priority scale. And the result is appearances like these on Fox News, a network that long ago abandoned any pretense of offering objectivity or even the barest hint of truth. And while the regular viewers of Fox won’t – or more accurately, can’t – critically assess what they see and hear on Fox, the rest of the nation cringes in disgust at the fatuous fabrications that emanate from these craptacular cretins. But that’s the good news. Most Americans see right through the bull. and with some luck, enough senators will alos and Trump will finally be held accountable.

Watch the Hysterical Disclaimer For the MyPillow Guy’s ‘Absolute Proof’ Doc on OAN

Just when you thought that the Charred-Core Wingnut Contingent of the Trumpian Republican Party couldn’t get any more distant from reality, they introduce their new star, MyPillow’s Mike Lindell, to prove just how massively you underestimated them.

Be sure to visit and follow News Corpse on Instagram.

Donald Trump, Mike Lindell, MyPillow

Lindell had been promising for months to release a damning exposé of the rampant election fraud that he uncovered. He swore that it would blow the lid off of the Democratic cabal that conspired to steal the election from Donald Trump and deliver it to China’s man in Washington, “Sleepy” Joe Biden.

Finally the day has come when Lindell’s investigative bombshell was released to the public. And the best that could be said for it is that it will produce a better night’s sleep than the lumpy pillows he’s selling. Like the MyPillow scam, the “Absolute Proof” documentary is false advertising, It’s missing a key component that is featured in its title: Proof!

The propaganda video aired on the ultra-rightist One America News Network (OAN). But even the Trump-fluffing extremists at OAN were spooked by the content and its utter lack of factual basis. They are surely aware of the $2.7 billion lawsuit that was just filed by Smartmatic against Fox News. So OAN preceded their “special” with a long and brutal disclaimer:

“Michael James Lindell has purchased the airtime for the broadcast of this program on One America News (“OAN”) network. Mr. Lindell is the sole author and executive producer of this program and is solely and exclusively responsible for its content.

“The topic of this broadcast is the 2020 election. OAN has undertaken its own reporting on this topic. This program is not the product of OAN’s reporting. The views, opinions and claims expressed in this program by Mr. Lindell and other guests, producers, presenters or advertisers are theirs and theirs alone and are not adopted or endorsed by OAN or its owners. In particular, OAN does not adopt or endorse any statements or opinions in this program regarding the following entities or people: US Dominion, Inc. (and any related entities); Smartmatic USA Corp.; Brian Kemp; Brad Raffensperger; or Gabriel Sterling,

“Further, the statements and claims expressed in this program are presented at this time as opinions only and are not intended to be taken or interpreted by the viewer as established facts. The results in the 2020 presidential election remain disputed and questioned by millions of Americans who are entitled to hear from all sides to help determine what may have happened.”

https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1357713334313902080

The first thing of note here is that OAN sold the time to air this nonsense to Lindell. Legitimate news networks do not sell their air time to outside parties. Especially not to biased purveyors of lies and propaganda.

The second paragraph is wholly intended to indemnifying OAN from lawsuits for libel and defamation. However, for that purpose it is utterly insufficient. A “news” network cannot defend itself from litigation if they air a program that calls your mother a prostitute, simply by stating at the outset that it isn’t their opinion. And OAN is demonstrating consciousness of guilt by identifying the victims that they know are being libeled.

Finally, OAN is making a farce of the presentation they are airing by admitting that the documentary entitled “Absolute Proof” is “not intended to be taken or interpreted by the viewer as established facts.” So why not call it “Absolute Bullsh*t” or better yet, don’t air it all?

There is nothing subtle about Lindell’s flagrant dishonesty. He says in the video that…

“The biggest thing against humanity and our country is this attack through these machines. they got – this opened up – this revealed – the machines to where we’re at right now. So what you’re gonna watch during this show is 100% proof that the big thing was the theft by these other countries that came in to attack our country through these machines that are made to steal elections.”

No wonder OAN is so scared. They are already the subject of a lawsuit by the Dominion voting technology company for defamation. Now they are just making things worse by giving Lindell a platform to spread more defamatory comments. And they can hardly pretend that Lindell’s views and their own are not in sync. OAN has aired numerous reports that make exactly the same charges against Dominion. For instance…

“It’s becoming glaringly apparent that Donald Trump absolutely crushed Joe Biden in the November election. We’ve learned enough about the Dominion machines and software to know that it is intentionally hackable, fixable. It monitors the spread of votes to alert of the needed additional votes and a host of other illicit election activities. The Democrats and never-Trumpers installed the Dominion voting system in key locations with the intent to rig elections.”

OAN also aired a multi-part program explicitly calling out Dominion that was called One America News Investigates: “Dominion-izing the Vote That puts the lie to their disclaimer saying that “The views, opinions and claims expressed in this program […] are not adopted or endorsed by OAN or its owners.” Having aired this program with this ridiculous disclaimer, it almost seems like OAN wants to be sued. And if so, they are very likely to get their wish.

Tucker Carlson of Fox News is Fomenting Civil War With Insanely Paranoid Lies

The purposeful betrayal of traditional American values by ultra-conservative shills marches on despite the electoral defeat and departure of the Traitor-in-Chief, Donald Trump. The parade is led, of course, by Fox News and their goose-stepping pack of lying propagandists whose mission is to advance the authoritarian interests of the GOP (Greedy One Percent).

Be sure to visit and follow News Corpse on Instagram.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Q Shaman

On Friday evening Fox’s Senior White Nationalist, Tucker Carlson, launched into another of his hallmark rants promoting hatred and division based on poorly constructed contrivances and deliberately repellent crock plots (video below). The only discernible purpose for this smug soliloquy is Carlson’s intentional aspiration to rile up his mentally unstable viewers. He plainly would like to see them reprise the violent insurrection they carried out on January 6th, but this time with even more casualties.

Carlson led off by attributing all manner of illicit behavior to Democrats that was concocted entirely within the confines of his diseased cranium. For instance, referring to the legal crackdown on Trump’s Seditionist Brigades, Carlson whined that…

“Democrats began crushing even the mildest dissent. They shut down an entire social media company called Parler, not because Parler had done anything wrong, but simply because they couldn’t control it. They couldn’t take the chance that somebody on Parler might criticize them, so they eliminated it.”

First of all, The Democratic Party did not shut down Parler, the abhorrent Twitter alternative for repulsive right-wingers. No political party has the legal authority to suppress the operation of a private business. And its demise had nothing to do with criticisms of Democrats. Parler was shut down when the company that hosted its website (Amazon Web Services) revoked their contract after they failed to comply with the terms of service and were found to be “a very real risk to public safety.” Despite repeated requests, Parler would not, or could not, moderate the content of their users who posted messages containing threats, harmful disinformation, and advocacy of violence. Apparently Carlson is now opposed to the free market. But he was just getting started…

“Then, two days ago, they arrested a man, threw him in handcuffs, brought him up on federal charges, because he made fun of Hillary Clinton on Twitter. That man is now facing ten years in prison.”

Of course Carlson’s horror story reconstruction is teetering on the flimsiest foundation of watered down, alternative facts. For the record, it was the Department of Justice (not Democrats) that arrested Douglass Mackey, alias “Ricky Vaughn,” an avowed white nationalist, on charges of interfering with the 2016 election. According to Media Matters “Mackey allegedly conspired to use social media to spread false information about voting in 2016 – specifically, claiming that people could text in their votes. Parts of the misinformation campaign appeared to target Black and Latino people.”

Once again, Carlson’s allegation – this time incorporating a bizarre swipe at Hillary Clinton – had no basis in reality. And then he continued…

“Democrats then declared war on their rival political party. Not, by the way, a metaphorical war, but an actual one, with soldiers, paramilitary law enforcement, and the world’s most powerful intelligence agencies. They denounced Republicans, even fairly moderate establishment figures who posed no conceivable threat to anyone, they denounced them as dangerous terrorists. They likened them to ISIS and Al Qaeda. And anyone who complained about this or fought back in any way was threatened with expulsion from Congress.”

Really? Carlson is asserting that Democrats engaged in an actual war against Republicans. He really needs to put down the crack pipe. What he is so badly misinterpreting is the police response to Trump’s Seditionist Brigades as they assaulted the United States Congress in an attempt to overthrow the government. They brutally beat police officers (so much for Blue Lives Matter), killing one, and openly sought members of Congress to assassinate them as well. Carlson describes these criminals as posing “no conceivable threat to anyone.” Well, to anyone but the five who were killed and the scores of others who were seriously injured.

The denunciation of these cretins as “terrorists” was entirely appropriate, by definition. And any member of Congress who supported them deserves to be expelled. Carlson is likely upset because, among other things, the Department of Homeland Security just released a report detailing the threat posed by right-wing extremists. It wasn’t ISIS or Al Qaeda who stormed the seat of American democracy. Finally, Carlson closed with this ironic thought…

“In other words, it doesn’t matter what voters decided in November, in the name of democracy you can longer serve in the Congress. That’s what they said.”

Nope, they never said that. Carlson is dredging up an utterly preposterous claim of attacking democracy, when that’s precisely what the hostile insurrectionists he’s defending were doing. Not to mention their Dear Leader Trump, who spent months attempting to overturn the democratic will of the people in dozens of lawsuits (that he lost), and the reckless and inflammatory rhetoric he spewed for months on end that produced the Capitol riots.

None of this is new for Carlson. He has frequently engaged in screeds that incite violence. He recently devoted a segment to defending the rights of his deranged audience to believe that Democrats are sex-trafficking baby-eaters. But in the end he will surely argue that he can’t be held liable for any of it because – and this is the actual defense his Fox News lawyers used – given his reputation, no reasonable person would believe anything he says. That is certainly true. The problem is that none of his viewers are reasonable, and they believe everything he says like the obedient and increasingly dangerous sheep that they are.

Rudy Giuliani Feebly Blames Trump Insurrection on the Lincoln Project and Antifa

Three weeks after Donald Trump sent his seditionist hordes to assault the United States Congress, he and his confederates in the Republican Party and right-wing press are continuing their cowardly and dishonest evasion of responsibility. They assert that the American people should just “move on” and forget about the treasonous storming of the Capitol that killed five people, injured scores of others, and defiled democracy.

Be sure to visit and follow News Corpse on Instagram.

Rudy Giuliani

Chief among the Trump apologists is Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s addled attorney who can’t even represent him because he’s also likely to be indicted. Giuliani was interviewed on Steve Bannon’s radio show where he demonstrated why no one in their right mind would hire him as their lawyer. He sought to dismiss the charges against Trump by pointing his bony finger of blame toward others and constructing a thoroughly fictional scenario for which he provided zero evidence. His babbling led to this exchange with a rather baffled Bannon:

Giuliani: The biggest problems were caused by Antifa. That’s where the shooting took place. That was surrounded by all Antifa people. So how can he be held responsible for a whole thing that was planned days before he was gonna speak, that has a mixture of people that hate him and people that support him.
Bannon: But who’s the guy working with the Lincoln Project?
Giuliani: I don’t know if I can reveal his name because we have that from anonymous sources. But he worked in the past for Romney.
Bannon: Okay, hang on for a second. This is why we’re getting blown up all the time. You can’t throw a charge out there like that and then say I got a double-secret probation guy that I can’t mention, but he worked for Romney and worked for the Lincoln Project.

In Trumplandia, if you’ve lost Bannon you’ve sailed off the edge of the flat Earth and fallen into a black hole of conspiracy crackpottery. Giuliani’s accusations against Antifa fall flat, mainly because it’s an organization that is as real as the Legion of Doom. And his libel of the Lincoln Project doesn’t go anywhere either because there isn’t a scintilla of proof to back it up. To the contrary, most of the seditionists who have been arrested have already affirmed their devotion to Trump as the motivation for their crimes.

Furthermore, Giuliani wonders how Trump could be held responsible for a violent uprising that was planned prior to his speech at the rally. That’s an easy one. Trump was a participant in those planning sessions and his campaign even paid the organizers. The rally address wasn’t a coincidental public appearance. It was the climax of a collaborative plot.

It’s also notable that Giuliani refused to name his alleged source because he was “anonymous.” He might want to confer with his client who has distinct opinions about anonymous sources. In August of 2018 Trump tweeted, “When you see ‘anonymous source,’ stop reading the story, it is fiction!”

So this is what it’s come to. Rudy Giuliani is disgorging preposterous conspiracy theories to absolve Trump of his obvious criminal culpability. He can’t prove a word of it, much like his sixty plus lawsuits trying to to overturn the election, for which he claimed that losing was actually part of his master plan. And for his trouble he’s getting slapped down by veteran Trump-fluffer Steve Bannon. What a world.

UPDATE: The Lincoln Project responds…

Tucker Carlson Defends Your Right To Believe That Democrats Eat Babies

The founding mission of Fox News was to advance the ultra-conservative agenda of its owner, Rupert Murdoch, and the Republican Party he supported. But in recent years it has shifted to an even more radical disseminator of propaganda on behalf of Donald Trump. And that has not waned in the weeks since Trump got his clock cleaned by Joe Biden.

Be sure to visit and follow News Corpse on Instagram.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, QAnon

To the contrary, Fox News has actually made an even sharper turn to the right since the November election. They are devolving into paranoid whiners and elevating their most noxious Trump sycophants. And they have persisted in propagating Trump’s Big Lie of election fraud that resulted in the January 6th assault on Congress by Trump’s insurrectionists. It’s gotten so bad at Fox that even Rupert’s son, James, publicly denounced its “disinformation” and “toxic politics.”

No one on Fox News is more guilty of toxic, dishonest politics than Tucker Carlson. And on Monday night he seemed determined to prove that once and for all. Carlson aired a chilling monologue that he presented as an appeal for free speech and thought. And in a sick and twisted way, it was (video below).

Carlson’s segment sported a graphic that read “DEMS ARE TRYING TO CONTROL WHAT YOU BELIEVE,” although he never presented a single example of that. He began his demented dissertation on the dangers of censorship by sarcastically pronouncing that “The real threat is a forbidden idea, it’s something called QAnon.” Whereupon he played a video compilation of the media accurately condemning the conspiracy crackpottery of QAnon, a shadowy, dark web cabal of lunatics who believe that Democrats are sex-trafficking baby-eaters.

Carlson, however, has a different opinion. In his diseased mind he is protecting the freedom to malign public servants with bizarre and baseless accusations that would be preposterous in D- horror flick. To Carlson, the freedom to defame is a foundational American principle for which “the stakes could not be higher.”

Elaborating, Carlson said that “There’s a clear line between democracy and tyranny. Between self-government and dictatorship. And here’s what that line is: That line is your conscience.” He said that while government can tell people what to do, it cannot tell people what to think. “Once politicians attempt to tell you what to believe,” Carlson warned, “they are no longer politicians. They are, by definition, dictators. And if they succeed in controlling what you believe you are no longer a citizen. You are not a free man. You are a slave.”

Carlson clearly likes to imagine that he’s an intellectual thinker with profound insights. But it’s obvious that he’s teetering on the edge of clinical imbecility. Telling people what to believe is not a defining characteristic of dictatorships, that lean more toward force than belief. What Carlson is describing is a cult. Which is what Fox News viewers – including Carlson’s – are willing and pathetic members of.

Carlson’s tirade accused Democrats of having “joined the mob of censors and hysterics and Jacobin destroyers, all working on behalf of entrenched power, to take control of everything.” Never mind that he couldn’t cite any Democrats who espoused that alleged aspiration of tyranny. But then again, he doesn’t have to. Fox News lawyers actually argued successfully in court that Carlson cannot not be held liable for the lies he tells because he “cannot be understood to have been stating facts,” and that “given Mr. Carlson’s reputation, any reasonable viewer ‘arrive[s] with an appropriate amount of skepticism’ about the statements he makes.”

In other words, No reasonable viewer would believe Carlson’s BS. That’s according to the Fox News lawyer speaking on Carlson’s behalf. The problem is that Carlson doesn’t have any reasonable viewers. So the cult disciples he’s disinforming on a nightly basis will blindly buy into whatever he says.

The same goes for the rest of the professional liars at Fox News. And as Carlson said above, “If they succeed in controlling what you believe you are no longer a citizen. You are not a free man. You are a slave.” Sadly, Fox News has been pretty successful at controlling what their audience believes. As has Donald Trump. Even sadder, they enjoy being slaves.

Fox News Denies There Was A Post-Holiday COVID Surge In Bid To Kill More Americans

Fox News is struggling to construct a new foundation for the their rightist propaganda network now that they have lost Donald Trump as the deified focus of their cult movement. Not only was Trump humiliated in his decisive loss to Joe Biden, but he is now inextricably bound to the violent insurrection in Washington, D.C. that he provoked through his purposefully inflammatory rhetoric.

Donald Trump, Fox News, Coronavirus

Consequently, Fox News has begun testing noxious strategies to maintain their media campaign of lies and hate in the post-Trump era. Most conspicuous among these trial strategies is their sharp shift from being a knee-jerk, pro-Trump network, to being an anti-Biden dispenser of contrived scandals. Unfortunately for Fox, the best they’ve been able to do so far is catching Biden wearing an expensive wrist watch (OMG!), and feigning offense to his opposition to white supremacy. Yo, Fox… If you’re offended by criticisms of racism, you’re a racist.

On Monday morning Fox News tried out a unique angle on the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Host Bill Hemmer and Fox News medical analyst Marc Siegel discussed the subject in terms that typically downplayed the severity of the international health crisis that has already taken the lives of more than 420,000 Americans. Hemmer led off by brazenly lying about the recent surge in infections, hospitalizations, and fatalities (video below):

Hemmer: We were told at Christmas time everybody was gonna be getting together, we were gonna see a major spike. We were told at New Year’s we were gonna see a major spike. I check the New York Times website every morning to watch the number of cases. We’re down 33% on the 24th of January, which is yesterday. We were told it’s going the other way. Deaths are down 5%. Why were we told one thing and the opposite happened?
Siegal: Well, that happens a lot, doesn’t it, Bill? It’s because of fear mongering and we report only the scary news.

This is profoundly dishonest. What Fox News did was to wait until after the surge peaked to report numbers that have plateaued or begun to decline. That doesn’t mean there wasn’t a surge wherein thousands more people died. Fox News is insulting the memory of those souls.

The truth is clear that there was a severe post-holiday surge, and they know it. The increase in cases and deaths was documented and reported in real time by the New York Times that Hemmer claimed to check:

“The anticipated surge following holiday gatherings has now arrived, leading to a stunning number of cases, hospitalizations and deaths rising every day.

“On Tuesday alone, a record 4,327 people in the U.S. died from the virus, according to Johns Hopkins University. In just the past week, a New York Times tracker showed the seven-day average for deaths rose from about 2,600 per day to about 3,300. And the numbers keep climbing.”

What could be the incentive of Fox News to spread such blatant disinformation? They no longer have to back up Trump’s lies. There isn’t any ratings benefit to underreporting the statistics. There is no rational motivation for this deliberate misreporting. All it does is give their viewers a false sense of security that will lull them into complacency and make them more likely to contract the disease. is that what Fox News wants?

Well, let’s take a look at Fox’s history on this matter. Last June the Washington Post reported that three separate studies concluded that watching Fox News increased coronavirus fatalities:

“In recent weeks, three studies have focused on conservative media’s role in fostering confusion about the seriousness of the coronavirus. Taken together, they paint a picture of a media ecosystem that amplifies misinformation, entertains conspiracy theories and discourages audiences from taking concrete steps to protect themselves and others.”

Another study by the University of Chicago was more specific in naming Fox’s Sean Hannity as a COVID-19 super-spreader. It found that “Fox viewers who watched Hannity … had higher local rates of infection and death.”

This is a pattern of deception that suggests that Fox News either doesn’t care at all about the well being of their viewers, or that they have some sort of sick vendetta against. Why would Fox want to kill off their own audience? That same question could be asked of Trump with regard to killing off his supporters. None of it makes sense. It’s just the grotesque behavior of sociopaths with an agenda that is only known to them. But the rest of us need to steer clear of these wackos and work to shut down their lie factories.

Fox News is ‘Working the Refs’ to Whip Up Negative News Coverage of Biden

Never let it be said that Fox News isn’t wholly dedicated to their founding mission of denigrating Democrats at all times regardless of how deeply they have to descend into dishonesty. It’s a skill they’ve honed for twenty-five years, and they aren’t resting on their laurels.

Fox News, Sean Hannity, Joe Biden

Joe Biden has been president for two days. But in Fox World that’s an eternity of dread. Consequently, they are already accelerating their notorious and irrational outrage with a barrage of utterly preposterous attacks that would make any credible journalist cringe. Luckily for Fox, they don’t have any credible journalists to worry about.

Which explains how they can run stories about “Biden’s Disastrous First Week” before the first day has gone by. That was the theme of Sean Hannity’s Hour of White Nationalism on Thursday night. Hannity dared to approach such subjects as Biden “begging for a break” when a reporter asked if his 100 vaccinations in 100 days was too low a bar. What Biden actually said was “When I announced it, you all said it was not possible. C’mon, gimme a break, man.” To Hannity, that familiar Biden phrase was “begging” and proof that “Apparently only one serious question from a reporter was a little too much for him to handle.”

Apparently Hannity has severe cognitive problems. But he was just getting started. Hannity went on to inadvisedly raise the question of Biden’s cognition in the same nauseatingly infantile manner that his fallen hero Donald Trump did. In a tirade against the bipartisan impeachment of Trump, Hannity lashed out saying that…

“At this point, a trial serves absolutely no purpose but to inflame the tensions of this country. It’s the swamp theater and it’s at its worst. The country should be asking tonight, Mr. Unity, Mr. Frail, Weak, Cognitively Struggling Joe, I know this is past your bedtime. Maybe you will consider standing up to the radicalism in your own party and put an end to the charade right now. I doubt that will happen. Joe and his fellow Democrats don’t seem to care about unity. All they want is revenge.”

Someone needs to educate Hannity about the purpose of impeachment. It is not just to slap the wrists of treasonous presidents. It is also important to establish a record of the crimes, prohibit the criminal from serving in federal office in the future, nullify perks such as pensions, office and travel allowances, security, and to deter future wrongdoers. And Hannity’s disingenuous remarks about unity land with a thud when they are said in the same breath as his insults.

Hannity was not alone in the Fox News rush to malign Biden. Fox’s newly minted White House correspondent, Peter Doocy, invented a bizarre and utterly false narrative about Biden violating his own mandate to wear masks. Brian Kilmeade wanted to know “Where in Joe Biden’s speech did he condemn Antifa?” Which is an organization that doesn’t actually exist. Tucker Carlson was concerned about Biden “opening the borders and crushing our country’s last remaining economic sector.” Neither of which Biden has advocated. And Laura Ingraham accused the Biden administration of “uniting behind lawlessness.” Which is a charge that is far more applicable to Trump and his confederates at Fox News. In fact, dozens of Trump’s associates have actually been indicted and/or convicted. For Biden the number of criminal cohorts is precisely zero.

There is a method to this madness by Fox News. It is their objective to whine about fake assertions that Biden and Democrats are neck deep in criminality and that the mainstream media is giving them a pass. Never mind that there is no evidence of the alleged crimes that Fox says are rampant. They are only interested in pushing the press to ramp up their negative coverage of Biden. Fox thinks that by inventing crimes, they can shame other reporters into covering them, or complain if they don’t.

Some news organizations may fall for this in order to avoid being accused of a bias in favor of Biden. But it isn’t biased to refrain from reporting intentionally fabricated allegations. And the media needs to be vigilant that they don’t wind up amplifying lies in the name of a fake standard of balance. Balance has never been a legitimate standard for journalism. Truth is the standard. You don’t interview a flat-earther to “balance” your coverage of a scientist who said the Earth is round. But that’s the goal of Fox’s knee-jerk attacks on Biden after only two days as President.

Biden addressed the “lies for profit” industry in his inaugural address. It was an unusually profound commentary that isn’t often brought up in inaugural speeches. Meanwhile, the Daily Show picked up on the nefarious intentions of Fox News and posted this enlightening video compilation:
