Crybaby Trump Slams the January 6th Committee For Nixing His Witnesses – Who Refused to Testify

Poor Donald Trump. It must be terribly difficult for him to watch the House Select Committee conduct a thorough investigation of his treasonous crimes without anyone there to stand up for him or tell his side of story. And it can’t help knowing that millions of Americans are tuning in and being swayed. Unless, of course, they’re watching Fox News where it is either being ignored or followed up with sycophantic slobbering.

So what is a seditious, coup-plotting, aspiring authoritarian, and pathological liar to do when forced to sit through hour after hour of incriminating evidence? Well, naturally he rants incoherently on his own miserably failing social media website about how he is such a victim of Democratic meanies.

The whiny complaints that Trump is posting on his hysterically misnamed “TRUTH” Social are typical of a severely damaged malignant narcissist whose tender ego has been wounded. They are drenched in self pity and festering falsehoods. Beginning with…

“The Unselect Committee has been unable the answer, or in any way refute, the detailed statement, put out yesterday, of voter fraud and irregularities in numerous states that took place in the 2020 Presidential Election. They don’t answer because they have no answer. […] The Committee is a SCAM!”

Actually, the Committee has effectively refuted Trump’s tedious tantrums about the allegedly “rigged” 2020 presidential election. And unlike Trump, they have done so with documentary evidence and corroborating testimony. What’s more, many Trump administration officials have debunked his utterly unsupported allegations of election fraud.

What Trump is referring to in the comment above is his deranged twelve page hissy fit that produced nothing that he hasn’t already been manically excreting for the past year and a half. Much of that trumped up treatise rested on the crocumentary “2,000 Mules” by Dinesh D’Souza, the convicted election fraudster who Trump pardoned. But Trump was just getting started. He continued raging that…

“The Fake News Media won’t challenge the so-called “Big Lie” because they have NO AMMUNITION to do so. They and their Radical Left Democrat Partner, the same people that perpetuated the now fully debunked Russia, Russia, Russia HOAX, are using their standard DISINFORMATION Con to bring our Country down!”

Actually, the media has repeatedly and exhaustively challenged Trump’s “Big Lie.” And it hasn’t been especially difficult considering that he doesn’t have a shred of evidence, which explains why he has lost more than sixty court cases wherein he attempted to challenge the election results. Trump’s argument has devolved into the same repetitive babbling about a “HOAX” that he makes against his well documented collusion with Russia:

But Trump still had more to disgorge, whereupon he unleashed this seething squeal…

“Why don’t the Unselects put up the many witnesses who are for our Country and fully agree that the Election was Rigged and Stolen, instead of the weak and frightened Losers that very FEW people have been watching so far??? WITCH HUNT!!!”

This is perhaps the most ludicrous of Trump’s outbursts. First of all, Trump knows very well that millions of people have been watching these hearings. More than 20 million tuned in to Thursday’s primetime session, and more than 10 million during Monday’s morning session. These are numbers that exceed all regular programming and most major sporting events, awards shows, and other popular specials.

Secondly, the “weak and frightened Losers” who testified, and to whom Trump is referring, are all veterans of his administration. Every witness so far has been a Trump associate or staffer. And Trump’s complaint that the Committee hasn’t put up witnesses who “agree that the Election was Rigged and Stolen,” isn’t the Committee’s fault. Nevertheless, Trump lashed out in his twelve page harangue several times saying…

“If they had any real evidence, they’d hold real hearings with equal representation.”
“They have refused to allow their political opponents to participate in this process, and have excluded all exculpatory witnesses.”
“The American public has a right to know the truth and see every witness.”
“What are the members of this treasonous ‘Committee’ afraid of? Why can’t they let the countervailing opinion be heard?”

In fact, the witnesses that Trump is begging to hear, and who would be expected to support him, have stubbornly and illegally refused to testify. Some of them refused at Trump’s direction. Among those who defied the Committee’s subpoenas to appear were his former chief of staff, Mark Meadows, his social media director, Dan Scavino, his former campaign chairman, Steve Bannon, and his former trade representative, Peter Navarro. The latter two have been indicted for contempt of Congress.

If Trump really wants the Committee to hear his side of the story, he could simply tell his associates to accept the Committee’s invitation to testify. Or better yet, he could volunteer to testify himself. Then his story could be told in his own words. There are just two little problems. First, he is too big a coward, and he would rather whine than face the Committee and defend himself. And second, he knows he’s guilty.

UPDATE: Trump added another bombastic outburst…

“The Fake News Networks are perpetuating lies, falsehoods, and Russia, Russia, Russia type disinformation (same sick people, here we go again!) by allowing the low rated but nevertheless one sided and slanderous Unselect Committee hearings to go endlessly and aimlessly on (and on and on!). It is a one sided, highly partisan Witch Hunt, the likes of which has never been seen in Congress before. Therefore, I am hereby demanding EQUAL TIME to spell out the massive Voter Fraud & Dem Security Breach!”

“Demanding”? He’s so funny. And once again, all it would take – as Committee member Eric Swalwell says – is “sitting your lying ass in a witness chair.” The Committee will gladly make time for him. He won’t do it. He’s too busy whining, and too scared to show up.

The January 6th Hearings are Driving Public Opinion – And Trump’s Latest Delusional Meltdown

The January 6th insurrection incited by Donald Trump was an unprecedented assault on American democracy. And now that the House Select Committee investigating the deadly Capitol Hill riots has held the first two sessions of its hearings, there is concrete evidence that the public is paying attention and is appropriately disgusted by Trump’s criminal and treasonous malfeasance.

A new Politico/Morning Consult poll has found that the American people’s opinion of the attack on Congress by the StormTrumpers is already taking a decidedly anti-Trump turn. The Committee is doing an effective job of presenting the abundant evidence of Trump’s purposeful lying about election fraud, and his fleecing of his gullible cult followers with solicitations for his so-called “Election Defense Fund” that doesn’t actually exist.

As a result of the revelations produced in just the first two sessions, Trump and the Republican Party are taking a severe hit to the gut. Mediaite reports that…

“In a poll taken after last week’s Jan. 6 hearing, a whopping 69 percent of Americans [say] it is a ‘crime’ to try and overturn election results, and similar numbers say the Justice Department should prosecute.”

When asked if “misleading Americans about the outcome of an election” is a crime, a massive majority of 69% said definitely/probably “Yes,” including 59% of Republicans. The same question on “officials attempting to overturn the results of an American election,” returned the same 69% affirmative, including 54% of Republicans.

The numbers were almost identical when respondents were asked whether “the Department of Justice should bring legal action against” the elected officials engaging in the crimes identified above.

For his part, Trump is clearly having a bad day. He has posted on his failing TRUTH Social Twitter clone website some truly bizarre rants. Such as…

“Word out that the reason the Unselects have canceled Wednesday’s Kangaroo Court is a total lack of interest leading to very poor television ratings. Could this be so? Maybe they should try getting a more talented Hollywood producer than the former President of ABC Fake News. He didn’t do so well!”

What Trump is referring to is that the Committee’s session for Wednesday has been postponed – not canceled. And the reason has nothing to do with a “lack of interest.” In fact, the first hearing that was held in primetime on Thursday drew more than 20 million viewers, which is twice what game three of the NBA Finals did. And MSNBC even beat Fox News, who refused to cover that hearing live.

MSNBC also shined during Monday’s hearings, beating Fox News and CNN combined. And while the Monday session was not in primetime, it still garnered about 10 million total viewers across several networks. Nevertheless, Trump threw an infantile tantrum whining that…

“The T.V. Ratings for the January 6th Unselect Committee were absolutely awful. Perhaps the reason is that it is being ‘sponsored’ by Adam ‘Shifty’ Schitt and the same people that brought you the Russia, Russia, Russia HOAX, and that the Unselects are not interested in hearing from anyone saying the Election was Rigged and Stolen, despite the EVIDENCE being irrefutable!”

Really? Adam “Schitt”? Has Trump ever advanced past the emotional maturity of a six year old, or is he regressing? And are his Deplorables really dense enough to believe his easily debunked lie about the “absolutely awful” ratings? Apparently so, After all, they believe his pitiful wailing about the “Russia, Russia, Russia HOAX,” that is well documented. And that’s even after Tucker Carlson inadvertently conceded that it was never a hoax to begin with.

Sadly, for some time to come, the nation is going to have to deal with the deeply psychotic distortions of reality that Trump and his disciples are infected with. Hopefully they will either find a a way back to some sense of sanity, or crawl back under their rocks and stop spreading their diseased, dystopian fantasies.

Trump Toady Lies that Fox News ‘Destroyed CNN and MSNBC’ By Not Airing the January 6th Hearings

The brazenness with which Republicans lie is often an astonishing display of depraved dishonesty. There appears to be no bar too low for them to slither under when it comes to misrepresenting reality. As George Orwell wrote in “1984”: “War is peace, freedom is slavery, and ignorance is strength.” The Cult of Trump could now add to that “Fox is news” and “Trump won!”

Not that any more evidence is necessary to prove the point, but Trump toady, and CEO of Trump’s failing Twitter clone TRUTH Social, Devin Nunes, visited with Howard Kurtz, host of Fox News’ Media Buzz. During a segment about the decision by Fox News not air the House Select Committee hearings on the January 6th insurrection, Nunes unloaded a spectacularly false assertion about the television ratings for the telecast in the following exchange:

Kurtz: Let’s talk about the January 6th hearing Thursday night, primetime. You say it was totally partisan, and you could certainly make that case given that every member is anti-Trump. But let’s go beyond that. Does that mean the media shouldn’t cover it much? Does it mean they should dismiss videotaped depositions from the likes of Bill Barr, Jason Miller, Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump?
Nunes: The way that I view it, Howie, is I think we have numbers now that are in, and you covered this. To put this in primetime, the numbers were way down. So I don’t understand how these big corporations – I know it was spread across some 20 different networks – when you compare Fox News which did not air that live, I mean just destroyed CNN and MSNBC in the ratings, right?
Kurtz: Networks like MSNBC did very well covering this hearing, Obviously, it would appeal to the liberal viewers of that network.

First of all, it’s important to note that Kurtz’s question improperly argued that the Committee is partisan because “every member is anti-Trump.” In fact, the Committee is bipartisan, by definition, because it includes members of both parties. There just happens to be bipartisan agreement that Trump is a liar who incited the storming of the Capitol.

More to the point, the claim by Nunes that Fox News “just destroyed CNN and MSNBC in the ratings” is flagrantly false. MSNBC far exceeded their usual audience, averaging 4.1 million viewers during the hearings. Fox News came in second with only 3 million, which is what they get on any ordinary night. So the same cult viewers tuned in to Fox just as they have been programmed to do.

What’s more, Nunes says that the numbers were “way down” for the hearings. Actually, they were far higher than anything these news networks have achieved in many years. More than 20 million people watched live, and even more millions watched via streaming, or delayed on DVRs or recasts. It was nearly twice the audience of game three of the NBA Finals.

For his part, Kurtz meekly replied that “MSNBC did very well,” dismissing the fact that they won their time period and beat Fox News. He also belittled the ratings win as the result of MSNBC’s “appeal to the liberal viewers,” ignoring the rest of the TV audience across many networks. And furthermore, Kurtz has no idea what the ideological make up of the audience was. Many conservatives and other non-liberals likely tuned in specifically because Fox wasn’t airing it.

Finally, in addition to lying through his teeth, Nunes didn’t even come close to answering Kurtz’s question, which was whether or not the media should cover the hearings. Obviously Fox News doesn’t want to cover them because, in addition to revealing that they have been lying about Trump and the insurrection for the past year and half, their audience would also see that their biggest stars were accomplices to Trump’s crimes.

You have to wonder why Nunes was interviewed on this program in the first place. He is not a member of Congress. He runs a Trump business enterprise/scam. And on that website people who posted the truth about the January 6th insurrection were banned. Kurtz never bothered to ask Nunes about that.

Trump also weighed in on the ratings for the hearings and, true to form, he attempted to gaslight his dimwitted cult disciples by claiming that the ratings were “really BAD…far lower than anticipated.” Which, as someone who worked on TV for fourteen years, he knows isn’t true, or he’s even more stupid than we thought. He also called the hearings a “Witch Hunt” because – well, everything he doesn’t like either a witch hunt or a hoax, isn’t it?

Trump Rants Hysterically as His PRAVDA Social Bans Users Who Post the Truth About January 6th

It was just a matter of time before the truth came out about TRUTH Social, the Twitter clone that Donald Trump launched in order to assuage his massive, yet fragile, ego after being exiled from Twitter. The site was disingenuously flaunted as a would-be bastion of free speech where anything goes including, apparently, blatant lies and undisguised racism.

Well, it didn’t take long for those deliberate misrepresentations to be revealed as nothing but empty hype and exploitation. With the commencement of the House Select Committee’s hearings on the January 6th insurrection that Trump incited (and is now typically calling a hoax), Trump has gone totally off the rails as his fear of finally being held accountable for his crimes kicks in. Despite the fact that Fox ‘News’ refused to cover the hearings live, Trump knows that the American people are watching the drama that’s unfolding and that his treachery will be the key plot point.

The first order of business was to excise any truthful discussion of the hearings from his TRUTH(less) (anti)Social scam site. Variety is reporting that…

“The irony is rich: Truth Social, Donald Trump’s Twitter copycat claiming it is ‘free from political discrimination,’ has reportedly banned users who posted information from Thursday’s congressional hearing on the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol — in which the former president is a key player.”

Surprised? You shouldn’t be. The site was never intended to be a free speech platform. It’s terms of service state that users cannot “disparage, tarnish, or otherwise harm, in our opinion, us or the Site.” So in order to use the site you must first agree to never criticize Trump. Unflinching fealty to Dear Leader Trump is demanded, and any disobedience will be punished. And offenders are already facing the consequences of infidelity.

What’s more, Trump himself divulged the actual purpose of the site when he declared that he would never return to Twitter, even if Elon Musk’s sketchy bid to acquire it is successful and his suspension is revoked. “TRUTH is a platform for my voice,” Trump told Fox News, adding that “TRUTH Social will be a voice for me.” So like everything else in his world, it’s all about Trump.

In an effort to deflect from the facts being exposed in the hearings, Trump is lashing out wildly with ever more deranged allegations of the 2020 presidential election being “rigged” and “stolen” from him. He’s posted a flurry of fantastical fiction that he calls a “massive amount of irrefutable evidence” of election fraud. Never mind that it’s been repeatedly refuted by more than sixty court cases and many high level officials from his own administration.

Meanwhile, Trump’s Twitter ban defying spokes-shill dropped 35 tweets in less than hour, after promising to abandon Twitter for Trump’s site. Most of her tweets were retweets of her own election lies dating back as much as year. This is just another part of Trump’s futile effort to shift attention away from his treasonous guilt. But the only thing that it accomplishes is to make him look more guilty and more pathetically desperate.

Fox News Commits to Keeping Their Viewers Ignorant By Refusing to Air the January 6th Hearings

This week the bipartisan House Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection incited by Donald Trump will hold public hearings. They are expected to reveal evidence that documents the seditious attempt by Trump and his comrades to undermine democracy by preventing Congress from certifying the election of President Biden.

The riots on Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021, were the result of Trump’s relentless lying that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him. Five law enforcements officers died, and more than 140 were injured in what Trump and most Republicans say was a “peaceful” protest.

The House Committee spent ten months probing the insurrection and its causes, reviewing millions of documents and conducting more than a thousand interviews. Now they are prepared to make the case to the American people that Trump and his cronies were actively staging a coup to illegally seize power and install Trump as America’s first dictator.

The hearings are going to be aired live on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and MSNBC. Notably missing from that list is Fox News. Because they are afraid of the truth and devoted to keeping their viewers ignorant, Fox News has decided not air one of the most historically significant congressional hearings of modern times. Instead, Fox will stick with their regular primetime Trump-fluffing consisting of Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham, and Sean Hannity.

Fox's top news anchors will be moved over to the Fox Business Network, and they will cover the hearing there. At 8pm ET on an ordinary night, Fox News has more than 3 million viewers, while Fox Business has under 100,000. That pretty much says it all about Fox's priorities.

This is more confirmation that Fox is not – and never has been – a news network. They were created to advance an ultra-conservative agenda and to promote Republican politics. And while the actual news organizations are informing the public, Fox News will be serving their master, Donald Trump, with counterprogramming that is nothing more than right-wing propaganda. It’s what Trump ordered his minions to do, and they are obediently complying.

Fox’s decision to blackout the hearings is not merely due to their blatant biases. It is also self-protection. That’s because their primetime hosts are more than just mouthpieces for Trump. They are also accomplices in his criminal activities. Consequently, they could be featured in the hearings when testimony is given about what took place as the insurrection was in progress. For instance, they were texting Trump during assault:

Hannity wrote: Can he make a statement, ask people to leave the Capitol?
Kilmeade wrote: Please, get him on TV. Destroying everything you have accomplished.
Ingraham wrote: Mark, the president needs to tell people in the Capitol to go home. This is hurting all of us. He is destroying his legacy.
Even Donald Trump Jr wrote: He’s got to condemn this shit ASAP. The Capitol Police tweet is not enough.

Never mind that within hours of these texts, the Foxies had retreated to their standard positions fawning over and covering for Trump. As for Carlson, no one has lied more about the insurrection than he has. He even produced the “Patriot Purge” crocumentary wherein he charged that the whole sordid affair was a “false flag” operation orchestrated by the FBI.

So Fox News has several dishonest and self-serving reasons for suppressing the news rather than reporting it. First, they don’t want to air anything that so clearly contradicts what they’ve been lying about for a year and a half. Secondly, they are devoted to keeping their glassy-eyed audience as ignorant and artificially outraged as possible. And finally, they aren’t about to give airtime to hearings that will reveal their own participation in Trump’s lawless scheme.

The result will be an expansion of the gap between the viewers of Fox News and the rest of the reality-based American people. And that could exacerbate rising tensions and lead to more violence on the part of the StormTrumpers. Which is exactly what Trump wants. And Fox News is, once again, aiding and abetting his treasonous aspirations.

Crybaby Trump Bashes Fox News, ‘Perverts’ and ‘RINOS’ Who ‘Didn’t Have the Guts’ to Impeach Him

As the prospects for Donald Trump facing political and legal consequences for his criminal acts continue to heat up, his behavior is becoming ever more volatile and deranged. This past week he saw his former White House trade official, and staunch ally on the “Big Lie” election front, Peter Navarro, in handcuffs and leg irons as he got arrested for contempt of Congress.

Next week the House Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection is holding public hearings that promise to reveal new evidence against Trump and his coup-plotting cronies. So Trump is already ramping up the rabid rhetoric against the truth that he knows is about to come out.

In his determination to pre-but the documents and testimony that the Committee will release, Trump is unleashing a steady stream of vitriol and lies. He’s got his work cut out for him considering that recent polls show that 67% of the public – including 41% of Republicans – say that he “bears some or a lot of responsibility for the violence and destruction committed” during the riots on January 6, 2021.

Making matters worse for Trump, he is now facing additional criticism from fellow Republicans. Former GOP House Speaker Paul Ryan appeared at an event supporting the reelection or Rep. Tom Rice (R-SC). During his remarks Ryan had some thoughts that you know would inflame the fragile ego of Trump. Referring to Rice’s vote in favor of impeaching Trump, Ryan said that…

“There were a lot of people who wanted to vote like Tom but who just didn’t have the guts to do it. There are a lot of people who say they’re going to vote their conscience, they’re going to vote for the Constitution, they’re going to vote for their convictions, but when it gets hard to do that, they don’t do it.”

Rice is currently leading his Trump-endorsed Republican primary opponent, Russell Fry, by double digits. So Trump’s ego is not the only thing at risk in this race. The value of his endorsement is also on line. Particularly after his candidates for governor and secretary of state in Georgia both lost by huge margins. Consequently, Trump barked out this rant on his failing social media site:

“Did anyone notice that Fox News went lame (bad!) when weak RINO Paul Ryan, who is despised in the Great State of Wisconsin for being ‘a pathetic loser,’ went on the Fox Board. They won’t even talk about an obviously Rigged 2020 Presidential Election, not even a mention. That’s why our Country is going to HELL – Elections have consequences. Get Ryan off your Board and report the News as it should be reported…And stop taking negative ads from the perverts, and others!!!”

Trump is the last person who should be calling other people “despised” and “pathetic losers.” He lost the popular vote twice by millions, and he never cracked 50% in approval polling throughout his occupation of the White House, or since.

Furthermore, Trump has been bashing Fox News for a lot longer than Ryan has been a board member. Any time that Fox reported something that was less than worshipful about him, he went off. In any case, no board member has authority over Fox’s programming or editorial content. And Trump certainly has no authority to demand who is, or is not, on the board.

As for Trump’s chronic fixation about the 2020 election, he simply can’t make any public comment without whining about it (he is, after all, in his own words, “the most fabulous whiner“), And it’s cute that he thinks that “our Country is going to HELL” because Fox allegedly won’t report on it. However, the truth is that Fox has not shied away from the issue. The entirety of the Fox roster have been staunchly supportive of the flagrantly fictional assertions of fraud. What Trump is likely referring to is Fox’s reluctance to promote the new crocumentary, “2,000 Mules,” that is filled with ludicrous assumptions and blatant lies. Nevertheless, Fox has indeed mentioned it, and Carlson interviewed the principle filmmakers.

If Fox has not participated in the sort of rank promotion for a lie-riddled movie that Trump would like, it might be because the network is already being sued for billions of dollars over their election fraud lies. (See the Dominion lawsuit, and the Smartmatic lawsuit).

Finally, Trump’s admonition that “Elections have consequences” is rather bizarre considering that he has refused to honor the 2020 election in which Joe Biden received seven million votes than he did, and a landslide Electoral College victory. It was an election that even Republican election officials said was the most secure in history. And Trump’s opposition to “negative ads from perverts” sounds like his promise not to produce any ads in the future. Not that he can be expected to ever keep a promise.

So It Wasn’t a Hoax After All: Tucker Carlson Admits that Russia Got Trump Elected

For the past five years Donald Trump and his Ministry of Propaganda (aka Fox News) have been whining petulantly about what they refer to as the “Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax.” It has been a well coordinated effort to refute the documented collusion between Trump and Russia to advance his campaign for president in both 2016 and 2020.

On Friday the crusade by Fox News to absolve Trump of any liability for colluding with Russia to undermine American democracy hit a snag. Fox’s Senior Trump-fluffer, Tucker Carlson, made a surprising admission during a segment in which he intended to smear President Biden’s record on the economy in general, and gas prices in particular. Carlson embarked on a series of flagrant lies saying that…

“The White House is doing all it can to keep fuel prices high. Biden has just pushed the EU to stop buying Russian oil. It’s payback for getting Trump elected. But the effect is to guarantee higher prices on the international oil market. That means higher prices for you. So this is not an accident. They’re doing it on purpose. This is the “Green New Deal” they couldn’t get through Congress.

First of all, the entire free world has been shunning Russian oil in response to Vladimir Putin’s brutal and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. That isn’t Biden’s fault. It’s Putin’s. And if Biden has supported that effort to stop funding Russia’s aggression, then he should be commended for taking the principled and moral position.

More to the point, Carlson’s statement that “It’s payback for getting Trump elected,” is an explicit admission that the so-called “Russia Hoax” was not a hoax after all. Carlson is finally conceding that Russia deliberately interfered in American politics on Trump’s behalf.

Of course, this is something that every well informed American already knew. Trump himself spoke of it during the infamous Helsinki Summit. Even Putin said so when asked “did you direct any of your officials to help” Trump? With Trump standing next him he replied, “Yes, I did.”

What’s more, a bipartisan report from the GOP-led Senate Intelligence Committee found that “The Trump campaign’s interactions with Russian intelligence services during the 2016 presidential election posed a “grave” counterintelligence threat [and] detailed how associates of Donald Trump had regular contact with Russians and expected to benefit from the Kremlin’s help.”

That is, by definition, collusion. And it’s also what the Mueller Report concluded, and was testified to by Robert Mueller before Congress. More details on this were documented in the studiously researched book “Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump,” by Michael Isikoff and David Corn.

As for Carlson’s wholly dishonest assertions regarding the high price of gas, he is unjustifiably blaming Biden for a problem that is occurring worldwide. No president has the ability to control the price of oil. It’s an international commodity. However, if the Biden administration were “doing all it can to keep fuel prices high,” would he have ordered the release of 90 million barrels from the Strategic Oil Reserve? Would he be promoting the expansion of renewable energy (which Carlson also took a shot at in his rant)? Would he have supported the “Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act” that just passed in the House of Representatives?

If Carlson is looking for someone to blame for the continuing high gas prices, he might want to take note that every single Republican in the House voted against the bill to stop greedy oil companies, who are currently raking in record profits, from gouging the American people. And it’s also the Republicans who are opposed to alternative fuels.

So the GOP is happy to allow oil companies to exploit struggling Americans. Just as they were happy to allow Trump to collude with Russia. And Tucker Carlson – the perversely infatuated Putin puppet – is likewise happy to cover for them when they do it.

LOL: Fox News Complains that Liberal Media Accurately Reports the News – Liberal Media Replies

If there is one thing that Fox News really hates, it’s actual journalists who dare to report the news accurately. That’s conceptionally foreign to Fox News. An honest presentation of facts about current events exposes how Fox lies so doggedly in pursuit of their ultra-rightist mission.

A good example of Fox’s mangling of reality is how they reported the acquittal of Michael Sussmann, a former Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer who was prosecuted – make that persecuted – by special counsel and Bill Barr flunky, John Durham. The not guilty verdict was a major black eye for Durham and his efforts to discredit the legitimate investigations into Donald Trump’s myriad criminal activities and unsavory connections to Russia. After wasting three years and millions of dollars, Durham’s fake scandal factory has succeeded only in humiliating itself.

On Thursday Fox News reacted to the acquittal by compiling a montage of video clips from what they call the “liberal” media, but which in their view is actually all media except for Fox News. They headlined their montage “MSNBC, CNN, ABC and more pan ‘asinine’ Durham probe after Sussmann verdict: ‘A flop’” Which is uncharacteristically accurate.

However, Fox’s intention was to malign the media as being aligned against Durham, and therefore conservatives, simply because there was rational agreement in the reporting of the trial’s outcome. Their story began by saying that “Left-leaning media personalities, reporters and guests of MSNBC, CNN, CBS, ABC and The Washington Post gloated” following the verdict. Ironically, the montage only served to publicize the intelligent analyses of the allegedly liberal press:

Nice work, Fox. Although Fox didn’t bother to rebut a single comment by any of the pundits and legal experts in the video. Perhaps that’s because there is no rebuttal to essentially factual commentaries. The only thing that Fox can do is try to create a false narrative by lying to their audience, and even turning failure into victory. Which is precisely what they did.

For contrast, Media Matters compiled a montage of their own. It contained some of the wholly counterfactual outrage that was unleashed by a variety of Fox News hacks. They struggled to find reasons to dismiss the verdict and to disparage the judge, the jury, and the entirety of the justice system. Because tearing down American institutions is what Fox News was designed to do:

Bill Barr Tells Fox News that Durham’s Failure to Railroad Clinton Lawyer Was a Victory

Fox News is well known as a brazenly partisan and dishonest purveyor of propaganda that exists only to serve the political interests of the Republican Party and that panders to Donald Trump and his cult disciples. It was never intended to be a legitimate “news” enterprise, and in that respect it has lived up to its mission.

Among the skills that Fox News has honed over the years is one that facilitates turning bad news into some ludicrous reimagining of reality that better fits their preordained narratives. And on Wednesday there was a textbook example of their mastery of that method of mangling the news during an episode of Jesse Watters’ program. Watters invited Trump’s former Attorney Genuflect, Bill Barr, on for a segment of misinformation regarding the acquittal of Michael Sussmann, a Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer who was hounded by Barr’s special counsel, John Durham.

Durham’s mandate was to invent legal distractions in an effort to vindicate Trump by fabricating phony charges of misconduct related to his unsavory connections to Russia. Durham never had a shred of evidence to justify his probe, which the jury recognized and quickly found Sussmann not guilty.

The typically softball interview of Barr allowed him paint a preposterous picture of the outcome of the trial. In the retelling of the story by Watters and Barr, Durham was actually victorious:

Watters: Do you feel in any way responsible for how this Durham situation is unfolding, and are you disappointed in John Durham?
Barr: No, I’m very proud of John Durham and I do take responsibility for his appointment. And I think he and his team did an exceptionally able job both seeking out very important facts and presenting a compelling case to the jury. And while he did not succeed in getting a conviction from the D.C. jury, I think he accomplished something far more important. Which is he brought out the truth in two important areas.

First, I think he crystalized the central role played by the Hillary campaign in launching as a dirty trick the whole Russia-gate collusion narrative, and fanning the flames of it. And second, I think he exposed really dreadful behavior by supervisors in the senior ranks of the FBI who knowingly used this information to start an investigation of Trump, and then duped their own agents by lying to them, and refusing to tell them what the real source of that information was.

It’s nice that Barr takes responsibility for the debacle that he so terribly mismanaged. However, his assessment of the results is purely delusional. If losing the most important case that the special counsel has brought to trial is representative of “an exceptionally able job,” you really have to wonder what Barr’s notion of failure is.

What Barr is arguing is that it isn’t important that his prosecutor’s case was entirely dismissed by the jury. What’s important in Barr’s view is that, in the process, a bunch of lies were propagated that he believes will have a negative effect on Clinton specifically, and Democrats generally. He’s outright admitting that the entire Durham probe was just a scam to harm his political foes.

However, what Barr identified as accomplishments that are greater than conviction were figments of his imagination. Durham utterly failed to “crystalize” Clinton’s role in launching dirty tricks. At best he revealed something that everyone already knows: that political campaigns – all of them – engage in opposition research. And there is no way that Clinton’s reputation was hurt by this show trial, because the right-wingers who paid any attention to it already regard Clinton as Satan in a pant suit.

Finally, Durham failed in his prime directive to deflect from Trump’s myriad criminal activities. If anything, he reminded people that Trump is still the subject of numerous investigations that are likely to lead to indictments. And he triggered an outraged Trump, who felt compelled to vent on his failing social media website, TRUTH Social.

In the end, the only thing that Barr and Fox News accomplished was to affirm that their motives are entirely partisan and have nothing to do with the law. It’s a deception that may tittilate Fox News viewers, but will have zero impact on the population at large. Just as Barr’s and Durham’s fictions had zero impact on the Sussmann jury.

Now Trump is Calling the January 6th Insurrection ‘a Hoax…Just Like Russia Russia Russia’

There is a disturbingly impressive capacity for delusion among the the cult followers of Donald Trump, also known as the Republican Party. Like any other cult, they revere Dear Leader unwaveringly, and believe everything he says, no matter how bizarre and disconnected from reality.

On Saturday Trump held another of his traveling salivation shows. This one was in Wyoming where Trump is trying to oust Rep. Liz Cheney, a fellow Republican who he has declared insufficiently worshipful. Cheney committed the deadly sin of recognizing that Joe Biden obviously won the 2020 presidential election, and that Trump’s attempts to undermine democracy deserved a fair hearing and legal sanctions if criminality is proven.

Trump’s address in Wyoming, like nearly all of his public rants, was a rehashing of the tedious playlist that he regurgitates on auto-spew. So naturally he devoted significant time to his obsession with the allegations of voter fraud for which he has been unable to provide a shred of evidence after sixteen months, more than sixty court challenges, and a new crocumentary by an actual felon who was convicted of voter fraud.

What was new at this event was that Trump expanded his list of verifiable occurrences that he considers to be a hoax. In addition to his first impeachment, his second impeachment, his extortion of Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, the COVID-19 virus, the Mueller Report, climate change, the 2020 presidential election results, and his well-documented connections to Russia, Trump is now adding the January 6th insurrection. He repeatedly made the claim that it was a hoax in Wyoming saying that…

So now Trump wants his glassy-eyed disciples to believe that the riots on Capitol Hill that everyone saw on live television, never actually happened. He has previously tried to gaslight his gullible groupies by saying that the rioters were merely peaceful protesters, or vacationing tourists, or even clandestine operatives working for Antifa and/or the FBI. But this appears to be the first time he has denied its existence.

Trump may have a difficult time selling this notion that the insurrection was a hoax to the populace at large. According to a recent Pew Research survey, 67% of the American people – including 41% of Republicans – said that Trump “bears some or a lot of responsibility for the violence and destruction committed by some of his supporters when they broke into the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.”

Nevertheless, Trump will keep trying to peddle his pathetic lies. And his narrow assembly of Deplorables will eagerly lap it up. And as long as Trump can continue to fleece his flock, he will be satisfied. That’s the way of the Grifter.
