Fox News Rewards Megyn Kelly’s Bootlicking Conservative Bias With A Promotion To Primetime

This just in: “Megyn Kelly will move to FOX News Channel’s (FNC) primetime lineup upon her return from maternity leave, announced Roger Ailes, Chairman and CEO, FOX News.”

Megyn Kelly GQThis was just a matter of time as Fox News has pretty obviously been grooming Kelly for a prominent role at the network from the day she was hired. Both Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes had taken a profound (and somewhat creepy) interest in her due to her pinup girl good looks, her background as a lawyer, and her eagerness to fulfill the Fox mission of slandering anyone and everything liberal without regard to honesty or ethics. (See Fox Nation vs. Reality)

Kelly fits the Fox mold to a tee, as a busty blonde presenter who would appeal to the Cialis-chomping, scooter-riding, gold-hoarding, geezers who make up such a large part of Fox’s audience and advertiser base. And Kelly is not shy about marketing her sex appeal as demonstrated by her pictorial in GQ Magazine.

As an anchor, Kelly has fashioned a more palatable version of Glenn Beck’s conspiracy-riddled wingnuttery. The stories she features are a collection of partisan tripe and manufactured outrages that have little basis in fact. From her near-obsession with the irrelevant New Black Panther Party, to her false accusations against then-Pennsylvania senate candidate Joe Sestak, Kelly has been a non-stop, gushing flow of disinformation and gossip. For more examples:

  • Kelly defended an anti-Islam filmmaker as a “patsy” of the Obama administration.
  • Kelly asserted that Americans have “gotta get a little squeamish” about the prospect of being killed by drones.
  • Kelly told her colleague Bill O’Reilly that pepper spray used against student protesters was just “a food product, essentially.”
  • Kelly moderated a discussion that was based on a series of “Fox Facts” that were cribbed directly from a Republican National Committee press release.
  • Kelly featured a disreputable reporter with a history of violence (who was later arrested for sexually assaulting a four year old girl) in her frequent attacks on the funders of the Islamic Center that Fox derisively referred to as the “Ground Zero Mosque.”
  • Kelly misrepresented the results of a Fox News Opinion Dynamics poll to argue that Democrats are defying the will of the people.
  • Kelly helped to cover up the extra-marital affair of GOP senator John Ensign and failed to disclose her personal involvement in the story.

It’s easy to see why Fox would want to advance Kelly to their primetime lineup. The musty presences of Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Greta Van Susteren could surely use an injection of new blood. The problem is that one of them will have to be booted from their perch. The most obvious loser would be Van Susteren, whose show is the weakest performer of the lot. However, Hannity’s position is hardly safe considering that he is despised by most of his colleagues. Even O’Reilly cannot be dismissed since he has floated suggestions that he might be ready to retire.

So we will have to wait until Fox announces their new schedule to see who comes up short. But in the end it will make no difference in the content that Fox offers. It will continue to be rabidly right-wing, with a clearly denoted bias for Republican Party dogma. Kelly’s entry into the club will not change that. In fact, it will congeal the conservative hackery into a younger, more alluring package. But the brain-dead zombies who watch Fox won’t have to worry a bit about whether they will continue to get a daily dose of propaganda devoid of those pesky and annoying facts that make understanding current events so difficult. For them, Kelly will be a comforting and reassuring breath of fresh lies.

[Update: 7/10/2003] There is still no word on where Kelly will land in primetime, but one of the replacements for her daytime gig will be Fox & Friends co-host Gretchen Carlson, whose experience as a former Miss America certainly prepared her for a role as a Fox News anchor. Media Matters has prepared an exhaustive look back at Carlson’s credentials.

  1. Megyn Kelly is a piece of azz who spreads propaganda just like Tokyo Rose.

  2. I wonder if anyone will call you out for your mysoginistic use of ‘busty blonde’ and ‘pinup girl’.

Why don’t you tell us how you feel about Melissa Harris-Perry’s looks. She proves you don’t have to be a busty blonde to be a hottie. Don’t you think she’s sexy? Or Rachel Maddow? Is it only that they have dark hair that turns you off? Maybe you could do with a little Cialis chomping yourself.

    • Your posts are becoming a total waste of time.

      • Actually, John made a completely valid point.

      • Is this where I say, “I’m rubber, you’re glue…?” Laughable, Mark.

      • A valid point? …a point for what? Mark posts an article about one thing and you come and say ‘Why not talk about my thing instead?’ and that’s a valid point….about what in particular? Victories for you guys must not come along very often….

  3. Fox News rewarded her with a primetime slot because she is an excellent journalist who is whip-smart and thorough.

“…Fox mission of slandering everyone and everything…”

No, actually, that appears to be your mission.

My personal highlight: During the coverage of the Gabby Giffords shooting, all the other networks were slobbering all over themselves whenever they interviewed Sheriff Clarence Dupenik. They just loooooved that he blamed the shooting on conservative talk radio, the Tea Party, blah blah blah. Then along comes Megyn Kelly, and she destroys him with 2 questions: Sir, do you have any evidence that the gunman was influenced by conservative talk radio? And if not, isn’t this just speculation on your part?

Megyn Kelly deserves this promotion. Best of luck to her.

    • If you think fox didn’t love that too than you aren’t capable of objective perspective. It was a sensational event that he gave a sensational reaction to. All media outlets get massive boners for anything sensational; fox got a great big chubby just so they could answer his reaction with a defense of the narrative that would make their audience think their pride and preconceived outlook was being righteously defended. Defending the narrative is part of their purpose of existence. Yes, just like msnbc for the left. My point being, if that’s your ‘personal highlight’ than you’re too far gone to want to seek out objective perspective. In other words, if the defense of your views is what gets you hot in your choice of media, then you won’t ever be able to challenge your own belief systems, which is extremely sad. You’ll be locked into propaganda forever, without realizing you’re a victim of manipulation to help advance someone else’s ends. I feel bad that things are difficult for you to see, I feel worse that their efforts are working on you. You are the fruit of their propaganda, myopic and iron headed. I’m so sorry.

      • Don’t be sorry. I’m right, and you know it.

  4. I was about to chastise Mark for photoshopping Megyn’s head over such a sexy body. Then I clicked the link for the previous article and saw that it was the real deal.

Yeah… the pictures? Whatever, ok. But the interview? Wow…

    • I don’t think Missy Megyn a hottie at all. None of the woman at Faux are attractive due the fact they have so much hate in their hearts spewing it on a daily basis, and you know who they are. It’s starting to ooze out in their faces. All that face makeup, all that sexy dressing …that too is faux.
Missy Megyn comes over as cold and calculating . Her voice very harsh. Not a bit of warmth to her at all. She wants to be a toughie and that she seems to be.
It’s all about HER. ~~~Hey, look at me. I am the chosen one!~~~

Thank the Good Lord I do NOT watch Faux News. (It is definitely forbidden in this household. Thank the Good Lord I was not bitten by their hatred and lies. Still, I have to see their slimy articles facing me while on the Internet at times. This is one I could not let go by.

Thanks much for the article News Corspe. My first visit here.

      • Hope you have enjoyed your first visit to News Corpse. I must say that for someone who professes not to watch FOX News, you seem to know an awful lot about Megyn’s style, her motivation and what is in her soul.

I suppose you prefer the kinder, gentler, more conciliatory tone of Chris “When-Republicans-Use-The-Word-THE-It’s-Racist-Code” Matthews or Al “The-Word-GOD-Wasn’t-Necessary-During-My-Promo” Sharpton or Ed “I-Love-Spewing-Hate-On-Saturdays” Schultz, or even Rachel “I’m-Really-Too-Smart-To-Be-A-Republican” Maddow.

Megyn Kelly and FOX News are far from perfect, and sometimes their reporting is biased and inaccurate; but does it rise to the level of hating them? Hmmm…you might want to pray on it and ask the Good Lord to forgive your intolerance. It’s kind of a double whammy for you — intolerance as a good Christian and as an adherent of the Left “Right-Wingers-Are-The-Intolerant-Ones” Wing.

Oh and by the way, Mark the blogger seems to have a bit of the hate bug in his system as well. As you will see from reviewing his blog posts, Mark is not satisfied with reporting facts; he revels in ridicule and hateful epithets agaisnt those with whom he disagrees.

He will probably comment that my post is boring or off topic or just plain dumb. It’s his way of being warm, caring and sensitive.

        • Whatprice glory spews hate and lies. Right back at ya.
