LOCK HIM UP: After Guilty Verdicts, Poll Finds that More Americans Say Trump Should Go To Prison

Even before Donald Trump was found guilty on 34 counts of felony falsification of business records (in his so-called “Hush Money” case), he and his MAGA media minions were salivating over the prospect of his conviction. That’s right. They were convinced that it would result in some sort of alternative universe backlash and that his popularity would skyrocket.

Donald Trump, Prison

Never mind that at the same time that Trump was supposedly happily embracing the legal catastrophe he faced, he was also engaged in daily diatribes against the court, the judge, the prosecutors, the witnesses, the jurors, the Department of Justice, and the Biden administration. All of whom he sought to blame for his circumstances that he portrayed as both awesome and abominable.

SEE THIS: Crybaby Trump Whines that ‘I Am a Political Prisoner,’ then Proves He Has No Idea What that Means

However, a new poll was released after the verdict was handed down that may conflict with Trump’s delusional appraisal of his situation. And the findings are not merely that Trump is guilty, but that he deserves his next term be one that is behind bars. As it turns out, the nation’s voters may not be as anxious to board the Trump train as he thinks…

“In the wake of former President Donald Trump’s felony conviction last week for falsifying business records to hide a hush money payment to a porn star, President Biden (46%) now leads his Republican rival (44%) in a two-way race for the White House for the first time since October 2023, according to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll” [and also that] “more Americans think Trump should get a prison sentence (43%) than think he should not (40%).”

Uh-oh! A plurality of the American people think that Trump should be sent to the Big House, not the White House. And it’s even worse than it seems. While the 43-40 split may not appear to be a significant difference, many of the 40% who did not agree that Trump should go to prison still believe that he committed a serious crime, that he should be held accountable, and that the verdict was fair…

[More people – a 51% majority] think the New York jury reached the ‘right verdict’ in Trump’s hush money case than think the verdict was ‘wrong’ (30%). Likewise, more Americans than ever (54%) now believe Trump committed the crime for which he was on trial.” [Also] “Overall, 52% say Trump’s conviction was a ‘fair outcome meant to hold him accountable for his own actions’; just 35% who say it was ‘an unfair outcome meant to damage him politically.'”

So Trump still maintains his base – and ceiling – of cult disciples at about 30%. Everyone else thinks he’s guilty and that some sort of punishment would be appropriate to hold him accountable. And that’s just with regard to the just concluded case in Manhattan. It doesn’t take into consideration the three other indictments he’s facing in Washington, D.C. (for inciting an insurrection), in Florida (for stealing and lying about classified documents), and in Georgia (for election interference).

Trump apologists on Fox News and elsewhere are at a loss for any rational explanations to arrive at some form of exoneration for him. They all sing from the same hymnal that their Dear Leader is a victim of nefarious forces bent on destroying him and America. For example, Jonathan Turley, the Trump-fluffing law professor who frequently waxes idiotic on Fox News, had this to say…

“It would be absurd to sentence him to jail. He is an elderly first offender. Non-violent crime. In a very controversial prosecution.”

First of all, the only thing controversial about Trump’s prosecution is that he has become the first former president to ever be convicted of felony crimes. The jury voted unanimously 34 times to convict him. Apparently it wasn’t controversial to the people who saw all of the evidence and swore to uphold the law.

Secondly, many first offenders are sentenced to prison. And that includes Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer. And Cohen’s conviction and sentence were for crimes related to the very same ones that Trump was convicted for and, in fact, initiated.

Finally, Turley’s assertion that Trump shouldn’t get a prison sentence because he is “elderly” is especially telling. If Trump is unfit to serve time for crimes he committed, how can Turley – or any voter – regard him as fit to serve in the White House?

In the meantime, Trump is continuing behave as if he’s daring the judge to incarcerate him. In a speech to his cult followers at a Las Vegas rally on Sunday, Trump spoke out in defense of his fellow criminals that assaulted Congress on January 6, 2021. He said that…

“Those J6 warriors. They were warriors, But they were really more than anything else — they’re victims.”

Just as a reminder, we’re talking about violent mobs that put 140+ police officers in the hospital, battered down doors, broke windows, vandalized the seat of American democracy, and threatened the lives of members of Congress and their staffs. And Trump has variously described them as FBI operatives, Antifa agitators, and hostages. But now he says that they were “warriors.”

Which makes them, in fact, an army of insurrectionists who had declared war on the United States with an invasion of its government facilities. And it was all at the direction of now-convicted felon Donald Trump. So do you think he should be sentenced to prison? That shouldn’t be a controversial question for most Americans.

Fox News is Steaming Mad at GOP Chairman Comer for Being an Incompetent Biden Persecutor

The Republican obsession with manufacturing criminal charges against President Biden has suffered for years from an absolute failure to find any crumb of a crime that they could pin on the President. And it is driving them crazy knowing that their failure is the a result of a combination of their incompetence and the fact that Biden has been a decent and honest public servant.

Go Fox Yourself

Nevertheless, the GOP chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, continues in his fanatical and futile fishing expedition despite accomplishing nothing except to further embarrass himself and exasperate his Republican confederates. But undeterred by trivial considerations, like whether or not there are any facts to support his accusations, Comer persists in his malicious mission to malign Biden.

SEE THIS: GOP Rep Tells Fox News He Would ‘Probably’ Impeach Biden for – Um – Zero Evidence of Any Crime

The GOP in the House has been holding their useless and partisan hearings for years now. They somehow manage to set aside the fact that they have failed utterly in their mission to find dirt on Biden. Comer has been humiliated repeatedly by Democrats on the Committee who have pointed out how dishonest and incompetent he and his GOP colleagues are. Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz has even challenged Comer to call for a vote to impeach Biden, if he thinks he has the goods on him. He obviously doesn’t.

Now it appears that Fox News is getting tired of the ineffectiveness of Comer and Company. After Fox’s Maria Bartiromo challenged Comer as to why he hasn’t issued criminal referrals to the Department of Justice on an array of crimes that neither she nor Republicans have any proof ever occurred, Comer replied with a typically vague assertion that his ghost indictments are coming soon. Really, they are…

Bartiromo: Are you saying that we could expect a criminal referral against Joe Biden for money laundering? Is that what you just said?
Comer: I think it’s no secret Joe Biden’s committed many crimes, and I think that you’re going to see a report very soon. That report is imminent. That’ll probably be an interim report that updates everyone on the crimes that Biden and his administration have committed throughout this investigation and through the years of the Obama/Biden administrations.

Yeah, right! If they do file a report, it will surely contain an abundance of lies that the DoJ will quickly and appropriately dismiss. You can rest assured that if Comer had evidence that “Joe Biden’s committed many crimes,” it wouldn’t be a secret. He would have produced it long ago.

Bartiromo followed up by asking why Comer doesn’t “subpoena these people.” Which, of course, he has already done. That includes the President’s son, Hunter, his brother, James, and several business associates. They all showed up and gave testimony under oath. Comer’s problem is that that testimony produced zero evidence that comes close implicating Biden, or anyone else, in any criminal act. To the contrary, his witnesses actually absolved Biden of any wrongdoing.

It appears that even Fox News is becoming impatient with Comer and other Republicans in Congress, such as Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan, who haven’t been effective enough at smearing Biden. But then, they haven’t been effective at anything else either, such as passing legislation, or selecting leadership. So is anyone surprised?

Trump and Fox News Legal ‘Experts’ Call for a Mistrial After Falling for an Obvious Hoax

Last week a unanimous jury found Donald Trump guilty of 34 felonies affirming that he had falsified business records when he paid off a porn star to buy her silence, and covered it up in order to deceive the public just prior to an election, Since then Trump and his apologists have been frantically trying to whitewash the convictions in order to deceive the public just prior to another election.

Fox News, Bullshit Factory

Those efforts on behalf of the Republican Party’s convicted felon nominee for president have predictably fallen flat. For the most part they have only served to remind voters that Trump is a morally vacant criminal who whines incessantly while blaming others for his problems.

SEE THIS: Crybaby Trump Whines that ‘I Am a Political Prisoner,’ then Proves He Has No Idea What that Means

Proving the old adage that “when the going gets tough, the wimps get desperate,” Trump and his confederates are latching onto a preposterous “news” item that they seem to think will lead to his legal salvation. The story centers around a notice filed by Judge Juan Merchan that a comment was posted on the Court’s Facebook page that the Trump faithful believe is a lifesaver for their Dear Leader. The comment said simply that…

“My cousin is a juror. He says Trump is getting convicted.”

HOLY CRAPOLI! Stop the presses. A weird dude on Facebook made an alarming remark with no evidence that any of it is remotely true. There is no evidence that he has a cousin who is a juror. And no evidence that his alleged cousin told him anything about the trial. So obviously the Trump contingent must drop everything and obsessively promote it.

What there is evidence of, though, is that the whole affair is a hoax. And that’s straight from the person who posted the comment in the first place. This “Michael Anderson” fellow admitted the fraud, referring to himself as a “professional sh*tposter.”

That confession, however, didn’t stop Trump from embracing the bullshittery and linking to it with a hysterical and impotent demand for a “MISTRIAL!” And he wasn’t the only one. His faithful Fox News legal “experts” weighed in with their own demands to erase Trump’s conviction. Fox host Mark Levin advanced the hoax bellowing “Surprise. surprise. Crooked juror in Trump case. How many more?” And Fox legal analyst Gregg Jarrett discussed the matter with Fox’s Senior Trump-Fluffer, Sean Hannity…

Sean Hannity: I assume a motion for mistrial is being written now and going out as we speak.
Gregg Jarrett: Absolutely. If it is true – and that’s a big if – if it is true it is grounds to vacate the conviction and order a new trial.

Both Levin and Jarrett are allegedly attorneys. And they were both frequently quoted by Trump outside of the New York courtroom as proof of his innocence. Clearly they were wrong about that at least 34 times. And they are wrong about this as well. But Hannity went even further with a declaration that this phony revelation by a shameless Facebook fraudster is “HUGE!”

This mass delusion by Trump and his MAGA media minions on Fox News is emblematic of the lengths they will go to to spread flagrant lies. And despite the facts being readily available, none of these liars have bothered to issue apologies or retractions.

In fact, they have been joined by other Trump cult devotees in Congress such as Marjorie Taylor Greene and Andy Biggs. So it’s likely that there will be more to follow. This is what happens when a cult leader is threatened by reality and his desperate disciples can’t figure out how to cope.

POOR BABY: Trump Insists He’s a ‘Legitimate Person’ Who is ‘Under Siege’ in a ‘Banana Republic’

This week the Wall Street Journal published an article with a brazenly biased headline saying that “Behind Closed Doors, Biden Shows Signs of Slipping.” The article featured quotes and baseless allegations that were almost exclusively by partisan Republicans known for their tendency to shamelessly lie to malign President Biden.

Fox News Sean Hannity

CNN’s Oliver Darcy delivered a detailed and damning dissection of the Journal’s purely political hit piece. They could have covered Trump, a candidate showing actual signs of a degenerating grip on reality, but no. That would have meant being honest journalists, which is contrary to their corporate mission.

SEE THIS: Crybaby Trump Whines that ‘I Am a Political Prisoner,’ then Proves He Has No Idea What that Means

After breaking down the numerous journalistic flaws in the Journal’s “reporting,” Darcy asked “Where are the stories about Trump’s former inner circle raising questions about his mental fitness?” Those stories could have included actual on-the-record sources that know Trump well, such as his former communications director, Alyssa Farah Griffin, or his former U.N. ambassador, Nikki Haley. Darcy also wrote that…

“Republicans accusing their political foe of lacking the mental fitness to hold office is nothing surprising. Such accusations are made every night on Fox News. And Donald Trump, who at 77 years old has also shown plenty of signs of waning mental faculties, including repeatedly falling asleep at his own high-stakes hush money trial, has made the accusation a centerpiece of his campaign. In other words, these accusations from the right aren’t exactly news.”

It may be too much to expect that a Rupert Murdoch rag like the WSJ would actually produce fair coverage of the candidates in this year’s presidential election. Although, Democrats hardly need any help from right-wing propagandists to demonstrate the mental unfitness of Trump. He does that exceptionally well all by himself. Virtually every word that comes out of his mouth is evidence of his acute cognitive decline.

A perfect example of this occurred on Wednesday during an interview of Trump by his bestie, Sean Hannity of Fox News. Hannity spent half of his time trying guide Trump through leading questions that Trump was too dense to pick up on. For instance, Hannity would pose questions like “You wouldn’t engage in retribution against your political enemies, would you?” To which Trump would equivocate saying that “It has to stop,” but adding that “I would have every right to go after them.”

Despite his hedging, Trump has every intention of persecuting Biden and other Democrats. He and his MAGA confederates have been explicitly calling for the arrest, incarceration, and even execution of Democrats and other critics.. It’s literally laid out in their horrifyingly totalitarian Project 2025 Agenda.

However, Trump’s latest affirmation of how he is showing “Signs of Slipping” is not even behind closed doors. It’s right out in the open, and broadcast on Fox News. During the segment with Hannity wherein Trump embraced his hostile and imaginary “right to go after” his foes, he unleashed the following stream of nonsensicality…

“Look, what I’ve gone through nobody’s ever gone through. I’m a very legitimate person. I built a great business. Everything’s been…I’ve been under siege. Nobody has ever seen anything like this in this country. Now in other countries, in other third world countries, or Banana Republics as they say, a Banana Republic. We’ve become a Banana Republic. At the border we’ve become a Banana Republic. With so many other elements of our country we’ve become a Banana Republic. You take a look at what’s happening with inflation. That’s a Banana Republic inflation what we have.”

Holy Shih Tzu! It appears that Trump learned a new phrase – Banana Republic – so he felt compelled to repeat it six times in less than twenty seconds. It’s behavior that is more commonly observed in proud toddlers who are eager to show off what new knowledge or skill they acquired. In toddlers, it’s kind of cute. In 77 year old malignant narcissists, with a weakening grasp on reality and aspirations of authoritarian power, it’s sad and somewhat frightening.

Trump’s remarks also display the severe anxiety and gnawing victimhood (“under siege”) that has become a hallmark of his perverse persona. In his mind there is no one that has ever lived who was ever more tormented by evil forces, despite the abundance of magnificence that he believes he is responsible for. He is, after all, a “legitimate person.” As opposed to what? A Looney Tunes cartoon character? (Okay, that example may be a little too on the nose).

Finally, Trump has proven that he has no idea what the phrase “Banana Republic” means. He just uses it as an all-purpose pejorative. He mistakenly believes that only small impoverished nations hold their former leaders accountable when they violate the law. And now he’s learning the hard way that even America has standards for legal conduct that do not permit him to get away with criminal acts, like he has for much of his business career. And unfortunately for him, his legal problems have only just begun.

Trump Threatens that His Cult Followers ‘Won’t Stand for It’ if He is Sentenced for His Crimes

Now that Donald Trump has secured his place in history as the first and only former president to have been convicted of felony crimes (34 of them), the next step in the process is the sentencing hearing on July 11, that will determine his punishment. Since this is an unprecedented affair, speculation about the sentence swings wildly from a slap-on-the-wrist probation to as much as 20 years.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Prison

No one will be surprised to learn that Trump himself has floated a deliberately flagrant lie that he could be sent up the river for 187 years. And as satisfying as that sounds, actual honest estimates tend to lean toward a more lenient penalty, such as a fine or house arrest. Although prison is not off the table, which is surely driving Trump crazy(er).

SEE THIS: What’s Roasting Trump’s Nuts? Jurors Believed Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen, But Not Him

The subject of Trump’s potential sentence came up Sunday morning on Fox News. Trump sat for a typically nerf-ball interview by the “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends. After delving deeply into the tediously repetitive ramblings that Trump disgorges at his cult rallies, co-host Pete Hegseth lobbed one right across the plate, giving trump an opportunity send an ominous signal to his glassy-eyed disciples.

Hegseth asked about the possibility that “the judge could say house arrest or even jail.” Trump began his reply with a swing at some false bravado saying that, “I’m OK with it.” Yeah, right! He would be OK with being confined to Mar-a-Lago, rather than playing golf or lavishing in the glow of his devotees at staged rallies in red America. Then he elaborated…

“I’m not sure that the public would stand for it. I think it would be tough for the public to take. You know, at a certain point there’s a breaking point.”

Make no mistake. The convicted felon crime boss is talking directly to his StormTrumpers that he hopes will launch another January 6th style uprising. He would like nothing more than to see violent riots take place on his behalf. No matter what the sentence actually turns out to be. Trump is not warning about a potential “breaking point.” He’s advocating it.

Unfortunately for Trump, he will likely be sorely disappointed. He wanted there to be massive protests outside of the Manhattan courthouse throughout his trial. They never showed up, even after he explicitly begged them to. He had to be satisfied with some lily-livered members of Congress who turned out in their Red-Tie uniforms to prop up their fallen leader. That, however, doesn’t diminish the potential for harm by lone wolf extremists individually or in small groups.

The pathetic impotence of Trump’s unanswered pleas is also reflected in new polls that have been released since his conviction that show him losing significant support among independents and even his Republican base.

Now that Trump has been declared guilty, and his punishment is pending, it was interesting that in this same interview his Fox News pals asked him about the chants of “Lock her up,” that he led during his 2016 campaign against Hillary Clinton. Never mind that she had not been convicted – or even charged – with any crime. But even more interesting was Trump’s reply. He flatly denied that he ever said it. So let’s go to the tape…

That’s typical of the pathological lying that we have come to expect of Trump. And despite that glaring character flaw – and his two impeachments, and adjudication as a rapist, and phony university, and fraudulent charity, and judgment for financial fraud, and multiple bankruptcies, and blatant racism and misogyny – Trump remains the nominee of the Republican Party for president of the United States.

Which says so much about the party and the MAGA media that disseminates its propaganda. Trump and his media and congressional minions are all equally culpable for the damage that they have done and are doing to the nation. But Trump may be right about one thing, although not in the way he thinks: “The public won’t stand for it. There is a breaking point.” And hopefully that breaking point will be November 5, 2024, when Trump and MAGA are finally disposed of.

The Cult of Trump Received Their Orders to Recite the Pre-Approved Lie that ‘There is No Crime’

As the jury in Donald Trump’s so-called “Hush Money” case continues to deliberate on whether he is guilty of falsifying business records, election finance violations, and/or tax fraud, Trump himself is busy disseminating his thoroughly dishonest propaganda about America’s justice system being “rigged” against him by the evil genius, President Joe Biden, who Trump also says is so mentally deficient that he “can’t put two sentences together.”

Donald Trump, Twitter

During the evidentiary portion of the trial, the prosecution put on a detailed case that included mountains of documentary evidence and hours of testimony, mostly from Trump’s own circle of close business associates. The defense, on the other hand, called only two witnesses, who likely benefited the prosecution more than Trump. Which led to a surprisingly pessimistic appraisal of the proceedings by Trump.

SEE THIS: Trump is Predicting a Guilty Verdict Saying that ‘Mother Teresa Could Not Beat These Charges’

With the prospects for acquittal approaching a zero percent probability, the Trump team is taking affirmative action to prepare both Trump and his glassy-eyed cult disciples for the bad news that they seem to expect. And foremost on their agenda is to tarnish the credibility of the jury’s verdict, and the entire premise of the case having been brought at all.

However, the mission to accomplish their goal is so brazenly manufactured and transparent that no one with a functioning cerebellum could take it seriously. And Trump is personally leading this gaslighting operation with a decree to dismiss the prosecution as a “hoax” for which “there is no crime.” A quick scan of his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, reveals just how robotic their effort is. What follows are comments that Trump reposted that are all from Fox News hosts or regular contributors…

  • Gregg Jarrett: “Where is the crime? It’s nowhere! This is what I call a Bigfoot Case. It’s a Trial in search of an imaginary crime.”
  • Pam Bondi: “He committed no crime…There is nothing there.”
  • Bill O’Reilly: “There is zero evidence he even thought about campaign funding statutes.”
  • David Gelman, Fox Business: “Prosecution, you did not meet your burden, you did not find that there is a crime here.”
  • Newt Gingrich: “In New York we have a corrupt judge and a corrupt district attorney creating a corrupt trial trying to frame President Trump.”
  • Doug Collins, Fox News: “This is a prosecution in search of a crime. It’s not there. Donald Trump didn’t do anything.”
  • Laura Ingraham: “There was no crime that was committed.”
  • Lawrence Jones: “The crime has still not been presented before the court.”
  • Andy McCarthy: “NDAs are legal. An intent to defraud cannot be derived from the performance of a legal act.”
  • Jonathan Turley: “Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg…started with nothing and sold it as a legal abstraction.”

Gee…You might think that Trump wants to persuade people that he hasn’t been charged with any crime. Which is, of course, preposterous. Trump joined in the chorus with his own comment saying that “I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE CHARGES ARE IN THIS RIGGED CASE—I AM ENTITLED TO SPECIFICITY JUST LIKE ANYONE ELSE. THERE IS NO CRIME!” And he followed that up with a statement at one of his impromptu press tantrums outside of the courtroom…

For the benefit of Trump and his confederates, the crime that he is charged with was clearly identified when it was originally filed by the Manhattan District Attorney, Alvin Bragg. It said that…

“TRUMP is charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with 34 counts of Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree.”

That seems simple enough, even for the MAGA RedHatters to understand. The press release for the indictment elaborated saying that Trump falsified New York business records in order to conceal an illegal conspiracy to undermine the integrity of the 2016 presidential election and other violations of election laws. And it is important to note that when he was arraigned he was asked by the judge whether he understood the charges against him, and he replied under oath, “Yes.”

So Trump pretending not to know what the charges against him are is just another example of how shamelessly he lies. And the same goes for all of his MAGA media cohorts who are engaging in the same charade. They all know perfectly well what the charges are. And they all likely believe that Trump will be found guilty of some or all of those charges. They just can’t bear to admit it to themselves, or to Trump’s cult followers. It’s a form of cowardice that they share with their Dear Leader.

WHUT? Trump’s ‘Legal’ Spokesmodel Whines on Fox News She’s ‘Not Even Sure What the Crime Is’

In the earliest days of Donald Trump’s political misadventures, he promised that he would hire only “the best people” He then proceeded to appoint dozens of officials to top positions in his administration who he later declared were unqualified, dishonest, and incompetent. According to Trump himself, he employed an army of imbeciles that he eventually had to fire because they were, in his view, too inept to serve.

Donald Trump, Wah

The parade of “losers” that Trump foisted on the nation included his White House Chiefs of Staff (Kelly, Mulvaney), Attorneys General (Sessions, Barr), Secretary of State (Tillerson), Secretary of Defense (Esper), National Security Advisor (Bolton), U.N. Ambassador (Haley), and many more. That’s just for starters. To be sure, most of them were equally contemptuous of Trump after they had worked for him for a short while.

SEE THIS: Trump is Running for President So He Can Appoint More People He Will Eventually Call Losers

So it shouldn’t surprise anyone to learn that Trump has been enlisting legal representation from among America’s most scummy solicitors. It takes an already ethically suspect person to agree to work for Trump in any capacity. So former parking lot lawyer Alina Habba certainly fits the bill.

Habba appears to have been demoted from her position as an attorney for Trump, to his designated MAGA media spokesperson. And in that capacity she appeared on Fox News Sunday morning to offer her views on the trial in Manhattan where Trump is being tried on felony charges of falsifying business records and campaign finance fraud (sometimes known as the “Hush Money” case). She told Fox News she believes that the prosecutors have no case, saying that…

“They have no facts. Let’s be clear. I sat through this trial, and I would tell you if I was concerned on a factual basis. I’m not speaking now to posture for the president, but just generally as an attorney, as an American who understands the law and how to apply laws to facts. There are no facts that support this alleged crime. We’re not even sure what the crime is.”

Let’s unpack that brief but loaded paragraph of poppy-cockiness. To begin with, prosecutors entered into evidence an abundance of both documentary and testimonial facts. They included signed checks, invoices, memos, emails, articles, and witness accounts that tied Trump to the crimes that are alleged. Ever cowardly, Trump never bothered to testify himself to refute any of it. Habba may have been too busy doing quick hits on Fox News and Newsmax to have seen much of the trial.

Furthermore, Habba’s assertion that she was making these comments “as an American,” rather than as Trump’s designated spokesperson is simply preposterous. However, her subsequent claim that she is “not even sure what the crime is,” is entirely believable given her ineptitude as a lawyer. She might want to take a look at the prosecutor’s filing to see the specific state and federal violations that are plainly cited.

It is pathetic that a legal spokesperson would admit on national television that she has no idea what the case she is discussing is about. And how that admission would benefit her client is mystery. But what isn’t mysterious is Habba’s regurgitation of the rhetoric that Trump disgorges nearly every day. She maligns Judge Juan Merchan as “severely conflicted,” although she declines to say why citing the gag order on Trump (not her).

Then, in a preemptive attack on the eventual verdict, she says that she has “zero confidence” that the judge will draft appropriate jury instructions. That’s her way of laying the groundwork to later claim that the jury was biased and the trial was rigged. She appears to be expecting a guilty verdict.

Habba is, however, serving her client’s purpose. While she is on Fox News, he is free to make personal appearances, such as the one Saturday night at the Libertarian Party Convention, where he was brutally booed from the moment he hit the stage. He also had time to post comments on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, about the speech.

Trump usually posts videos of such appearances on his website but, for some reason, this time he only posted still images with bits of rancid written commentary. Clearly he could not post the videos because of all the booing. Heaven forbid that any of his glassy-eyed disciples find out how truly despised he is outside of his cult bubble.

DELUSIONAL Fox News Host Remembers When ‘Blacks Loved Trump’ and ‘Wanted to Be Trump’

Political campaigns commonly make rosy claims intended to bolster the perceived depths of support the candidate has among various constituent groups. Ordinarily those claims are backed up by at least some kernel of truth. But in the era of the MAGA GOP, all standards of honesty have been discarded as what was once the Republican Party morphs into the Cult of Trump.

Fox News Jesse Watters

Fox News provided an outstanding example of that on Thursday night in a segment of the Jesse Watters program wherein he was “reporting” on Donald Trump’s rally in the Bronx. Throughout the day Fox News covered the rally as if there had been a sighting of the Virgin Mary that drew 100,000 faithful to a park in New York City. Actually, the attendance was more like 2-3,000, and most of them were from out of town, or even out of state. But diverging from the facts never stopped Fox News before.

SEE THIS: Fox News Fans the Flaming Lie that Biden Sought to Assassinate Trump During Search of Mar-a-Lago

Like many others on Fox News, Watters sought to portray the Bronx rally as evidence that Trump has significant support in the Black and Latino communities. He didn’t bother to notice that most of the audience was White in a borough that is 85% people of of color.

Watters went on to complain about the frequent observations of Trump’s blatant racism. However, his comments were typically out of step with reality. He whined that…

“It does seem like they’re trying to say Trump’s racist. And they have to go all the way back into the 80s to say he’s racist. I remember in the 80s, Blacks loved Trump. In the 90s they loved him. In the 2000s Blacks wanted to be Trump. Everybody wanted to be Trump, no matter what color you are. That changed when he ran for president.”

First of all, it isn’t the vindication of Trump that Watters thinks it is to notice that examples of his racism date back 40-50 years. That’s more of a validation. But Watters goes even farther afield by claiming to “remember” the 1980s when “Blacks loved Trump.” Watters was born in Philadelphia in 1978. So he wants his viewers to believe that he recalls Trump’s popularity with Blacks in New York from his years as a toddler in another state.

There is, of course, no evidence that Blacks loved Trump in the 80s, or the 90s, or any time since. Particularly New Yorkers who actually do remember Trump taking out a full-page ad in four newspapers calling for the execution of five Black teenagers (the Central Park Five), who were falsely accused of a horrific rape and murder. Thirteen years later DNA evidence exonerated them. The five eventually received a $41 million settlement from the city of New York in 2014. Trump has never retracted his statement or apologized.

Watters continued his deranged distortion of reality by asserting that “Blacks wanted to be Trump. Everybody wanted to be Trump.” Once again, there is no evidence of any such desire on the part of anyone, with the exception of other privileged White grifters who envied Trump’s shameless deceitfulness in pursuit of greed. Most New Yorkers were repulsed by Trump and his pseudo-playboy aspirations and tawdry friendships with the likes of underage sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein.

Fox News needs to keep spreading blatant lies like these about Trump’s feeble support among Black Americans in order to convince their viewers that he is a shoo-in for the presidency in November. They are an insecure bunch of willfully blind followers who will crumble at the notion that Trump isn’t viewed by everyone as a messiah. So designated fluffers like Watters are dispatched to keep the emotional Kool-Aid flowing. It’s sad that there are still suckers – although relatively few – who continue to fall for it.

Fox News Fans the Flaming Lie that Biden Sought to Assassinate Trump During Search of Mar-a-Lago

Now that the attorneys in the so-called “Hush Money” trial of Donald Trump (more accurately, the falsifying business records and election interference trial) have rested their cases, the disinformation agents working to exonerate Trump in the court of public opinion are preparing for the potentiality of Trump’s conviction.

Fox News, Joe Biden, Fake News

Consequently, the MAGA cult operatives are now anxiously deploying en masse to muddy up the discourse with their contrived narratives in order to deflect from the bad news that they seem to anticipate. And they don’t care how preposterous or unbelievable their distractions are. In fact, the more ridiculous the better for purposes of misdirection and evasion. That accounts for absurdities…

SUCH AS THIS: Fox News Floats Conspiracy Theory that Biden is Plotting to Assault Trump to Avoid Debating Him

However, if you think that’s as far as the Trumpists could go, you are vastly underestimating their derangement, and that of those they are trying to reach. On Monday new evidence of Trump’s involvement in stealing and hoarding classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago bunker was released.

While the new evidence further incriminates Trump, it also included a more detailed description of the search warrant granted to the FBI to search Trump’s Palm Beach home/hotel. In that description was standard boilerplate language about the possible use of force that exists in virtually every federal search warrant.

But leave it to the Trump cult to focus obsessively on that technicality and try to turn it into a controversy. Their interpretation became that this language was uniquely applied to Trump and amounted to – get this – an intention by Biden to assassinate him. Trump himself commented on this nonsense in a post on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, raving that

“WOW! I just came out of the Biden Witch Hunt Trial in Manhattan, the ‘Icebox,’ and was shown Reports that Crooked Joe Biden’s DOJ, in their Illegal and UnConstitutional Raid of Mar-a-Lago, AUTHORIZED THE FBI TO USE DEADLY (LETHAL) FORCE. NOW WE KNOW, FOR SURE, THAT JOE BIDEN IS A SERIOUS THREAT TO DEMOCRACY. HE IS MENTALLY UNFIT TO HOLD OFFICE — 25TH AMENDMENT!”

Nearly every word of that is an outright lie. Biden had nothing to do with the trial in Manhattan, and it isn’t a “Witch Hunt.” Nor was the search of Mar-a-Lago “Illegal and UnConstitutional.” And none of that would suggest any mental unfitness of Biden, or trigger invoking the 25th Amendment. But when did Trump ever let reality interfere with his rancid yammering?

Likewise, it doesn’t stop his sycophants (e.g. Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene, etc.) from joining in. And for good measure, Trump is already incorporating this malarkey into his fundraising. Unfortunately, his grasp of the English languish is distorting his message…

No one will be surprised to learn that that Fox News is fully on board with the accusations that Biden was plotting to off Trump. For example, Fox’s Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, covered the matter by saying that…

“Trump calling out President Biden after learning that his administration authorized the use of deadly force during the FBI’s 2022 raid on Mar-a-Lago during the classified documents probe. According to this filing, the DoJ and the FBI agents planned to bring standard issue weapons, ammunition, handcuffs, and medium and large size bolt cutters.”

To her credit, Bartiromo also read the FBI’s statement that…

“The FBI followed standard protocol in this search as we do for all search warrants, which includes a standard policy statement limiting the use of deadly force. No one ordered additional steps to be taken and there was no departure from the norm in this matter.”

But to her shame, Bartiromo immediately ignored her own reporting to complain that the FBI and the Democrats were calling Trump a threat to democracy, “but Biden is authorizing deadly force against his political opponent?” She knows perfectly well that Biden didn’t do that. She just read the FBI’s statement herself.

Bartiromo wasn’t the only Fox News hack furthering these lies. Jesse Watters did the same on his program, saying that “the Biden administration authorized the ‘use of deadly force’ during the Mar-A-Lago raid,” and that it was “A major bombshell in the Trump documents case.” Actually, it wasn’t. And former Florida Attorney General and Special Advisor to Trump, Pam Bondi, said on Fox & Friends that “Nothing about this is normal.” Actually, it was all normal.

So in order to counter-program the coming verdict in Trump’s “Hush Money” case, Fox News and his cult cronies have manufactured this utterly insane allegation that Biden was plotting to assassinate Trump. Never mind that the search warrant lingo was routine, the FBI behaved appropriately, and Trump wasn’t even there.

UPDATE: The standard “use of force” language was also in search warrants for Biden’s homes. So apparently Biden was also plotting to assassinate – himself?

What makes this extraordinarily ludicrous is that Trump currently has a case pending before the Supreme Court wherein he is claiming to have “presidential immunity,” which doesn’t exist in the law or the Constitution. His attorneys have argued that such immunity would give any president, including Biden, the right to assassinate a political opponent with impunity.

If the Court comes down on Trump’s side (heaven forbid), then he can’t complain if Biden actually does try to kill him. Not that Biden would ever contemplate such a thing. But it’s emblematic of Trump’s thinking that is notoriously devoid of reason.

Trump’s Legal Weasel Waffles on Whether Trump Will Testify at His ‘Hush Money’ Trial

Donald Trump’s criminal trial for falsifying business records and election interference (sometimes known as the “Hush Money” case) may be approaching the end as attorneys on both sides begin to wrap up their witness examinations. The judge has tentatively scheduled Tuesday, May 28, for closing arguments.

Donald Trump Sweating

Among the most eagerly anticipated events in this trial has been the question as to whether or not Trump would testify in his own defense. Most legal experts have held that it would be highly unlikely that Trump would take the oath and expose himself to potentially damaging cross-examination and perjury. For his part, Trump has wavered between contradictory statements insisting that would testify because he has nothing to hide, and whining, falsely, that he would not be able to testify due ot his gag order.

SEE THIS: Trump Fixates on Fox News Phonies While Lying that a Gag Order Prohibits Him from Testifying

On Monday morning Trump’s legal spokesperson, Alina Habba, was interviewed on Fox News, where she seems to have more airtime than any of their hosts. Sandra Smith raised the matter of Trump’s testimony with Habba, but as is often the case, she got a vague response.

Smith: What would be in the thought process to testify or not testify on the part of the former president?
Habba: He’s got to listen to his attorneys. It’s not as much what he wants to do. We know Trump wants to testify. He’s willing, he’s able, he… nothing to hide all. He’s absolutely ready to tell the truth. Frankly, I think his truth has already spoken. He was in the White House while somebody in accounting booked a legal fee payment as a legal expense. It’s pretty quick and it would be a pretty short testimony as far as the questions that would need to be asked, because he had no part in it.

If Trump were “ready to tell the truth” it would be a first for him. And if he had nothing to hide he would jump at the chance to take the stand. He has said repeatedly that he would do so. But now, according to Habba, he needs to consult with his attorneys. Which would actually be the smart thing for him to do. Because if his testimony was anything like what Habba told Fox News, he would be sliced and diced by the prosecutor.

Habba’s defense argument is that Trump, a notorious micromanager, wasn’t a part of the decisions surrounding his payment of hundreds of thousands of dollars to a porn star. And if Trump told the court under oath that he didn’t know how the payments were booked, or that he thought they were booked properly as legal expenses, he would be committing perjury. So yeah…he better listen to his lawyers, and keep his mouth shut.

Habba herself went on to lie about the prosecution of Trump, saying that…

“We have a D.A. that has been politically motivated since the minute he decided to run for office [and] the only time he decided to bring this case was after president Trump announced that he would be running for reelection.”

For the record, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg filed the 34 felony charges against Trump on April 4, 2023, after a grand jury issued the indictments. That was five months after Trump officially announced his campaign for 2024. Although Trump had informally stated almost immediately after President Biden was inaugurated that he would be running again. Either way, the charges were clearly not in response to Trump’s electoral ambitions.

On the same Fox News program, Habba complained that Trump was “limited as to what he can speak to,” and that “A witness can come up and say things that he knows are untrue, and he can’t say anything back.” Which is also patently false. Trump can, of course, testify under oath, just like the other witnesses that he says are lying.

So, will Trump exercise his rights to defend himself and forthrightly refute the testimony of the other witnesses, who are almost all his former close associates and/or employees? Don’t hold your breath. While his ego-driven inclination may be to do so, his lawyers will likely revolt if he refuses to take their advice and clam up. And it’s notable that Trump has promised to testify in other trials, but ultimately chickened out then as well.

That’s Trump’s standard operating procedure, and there is no reason to assume that it isn’t in effect now. So what we will see from Trump, rather than testimony on the witness stand under oath, are flagrant lies in the hallway outside the courtroom. And even after a conviction we’ll have to endure his yammering about the “rigged” trial and appeals processes. But hopefully an electoral landslide for Biden in November might actually zip Trump’s pie hole. That will be up to the American people to deliver. So you know what to do.
