The prolific outpouring of preposterous pronouncements that emanate from Donald Trump’s White House create a daily flash flood of foolishness and farce. His Press/Propaganda Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, has effortlessly surpassed the record breaking threshold of lies achieved by her Republican predecessors.

In addition to disseminating the daily dishonesty decreed by the Trump regime, Leavitt has purposefully turned the White House Press Room into an assembly of Trump-fluffing fringe figures from the InterTubes, who view their role as one of MAGA advocacy, as opposed to anything resembling journalism.

On Friday Leavitt unleashed what may be the the most laughably fantastical comment of her brief tenure as Trump’s Politburo Chief. She was asked about Trump’s upcoming junket to the Middle East, and whether he would meet with anyone connected to his business interests there (video below). It was an appropriate question considering that his sons just announced a new luxury hotel project in Dubai. In response, an obviously annoyed Leavitt complained that…

“I think it’s frankly ridiculous that anyone in this room would even suggest that President Trump is doing anything for his own benefit. He left a life of luxury and a life of running a very successful real estate empire for public service. Not just once, but twice. And the American public reelected him back to this White House because they believe he acts in the best interest of our country and putting the American public first.”

First of all, what Trump left may have been a luxurious lifestyle, but it was also a struggling real estate enterprise that was so over-leveraged that he had to work as TV game show host to stay afloat financially. What’s more, he didn’t leave for public service. He left to further enrich himself, to satiate his massive ego by reigning over America as a dictator, and to avoid going to prison for the multitude of felonies he was convicted of, with many more on the docket.

What is “ridiculous” is the notion that anyone would buy into Trump’s facade of selflessness and sacrifice. Contrary to Leavitt’s warbling, everything Trump does is “for his own benefit.” If he was the least bit concerned about “the best interest of our country,” he wouldn’t have imposed his inflationary and recessionary Trump Taxes (aka tariffs) on America’s international trading partners; he wouldn’t be dismantling critical government agencies and cutting services such as Medicare and Medicaid; he wouldn’t be aligning himself with authoritarian tyrants and alienating American allies. But Leavitt wasn’t finished. She continued…

“This is the president that has actually lost money for being president of the United States. I don’t remember these same types of question being asked of my predecessor about a career politician who was clearly profiting off of his office. That is not what president Trump does. And this White House holds ourselves to the highest ethical standards.”

There is a kernel of truth in what Leavitt says here. Trump’s real estate ventures have suffered because people have been so repulsed by him that they have chosen to avoid patronizing his businesses. However, the larger truth is that Trump has exploited his presidency to earn billions of dollars in blatantly corrupt scams, such as his meme coin that is nothing more than a drop box for foreign nations and criminals to deposit what amounts to bribes and/or extortion.

While untold thousands of Trump cult disciples have lost fortunes, Trump and his cronies have raked in multimillions in untraceable contributions to his personal charity. That applies also to his Media venture that includes his Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. A recent story about which reveals that “Large institutional investors have massively increased their holdings of Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) in recent months [raising] further questions about big business’s desire to curry favor with Donald Trump.”

As for Leavitt’s faulty memory, President Biden and his press team were relentlessly battered with inquiries about his finances, and particularly those of his family. Although, nothing ever came of it because, unlike Trump, there was never any shred of evidence of wrongdoing.

The consistently dishonest utterings of Leavitt reflect the mandate that she has been given by her notoriously dishonest, pathological lying boss. And that propensity for prevarication is woven throughout the Trump administration. When Leavitt speaks of holding to “the highest ethical standards,” she is looking at it from the depths of a trench of deceitfulness where no sunlight can reach. After all, she began her job as Trump’s mouthpiece by lying that “I commit to telling the truth from this podium every single day.”

PROCLAMATION: Trump’s Pardons Are Hereby Declared Void, Vacant, and of No Future Force or Effect

When Joe Biden won the presidency in 2020, he not only ushered in a new term of rational, thoughtful, progressive, policies, he also provided a respite from the daily insanity that Trump imposed on the nation. Trump’s first term was a non-stop barrage of ignorance, insults, lies, and shameless self-glorification.

Now as Trump embarks on his second occupation of the White House, he is returning to the practice of battering the nation with his infantile outbursts and petulant whining. And while it often doesn’t seem possible, each day’s deluge of dumfuckery is worse than the day before.

On Monday morning Trump once again outdid himself in his quest for quackery. He posted a comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that purported to revoke the pardons issued by President Biden. Never mind that there is nothing in the Constitution that permits him to do that. Trump long ago abandoned any fealty to the law or America’s founding principles. He raged that…

“The ‘Pardons’ that Sleepy Joe Biden gave to the Unselect Committee of Political Thugs, and many others, are hereby declared VOID, VACANT, AND OF NO FURTHER FORCE OR EFFECT, because of the fact that they were done by Autopen. In other words, Joe Biden did not sign them but, more importantly, he did not know anything about them!” […]

“Therefore, those on the Unselect Committee, who destroyed and deleted ALL evidence obtained during their two year Witch Hunt of me, and many other innocent people, should fully understand that they are subject to investigation at the highest level.”

There is an abundance of derp in that dopey discharge. Let’s dig a little deeper, shall we? To begin with, Trump’s justification for his preposterous position is his assertion that Biden signed his pardons with an autopen. So what? Many other presidents, including Trump, have used the autopen to sign official documents. Trump, however, has no evidence whatsoever for his claim that Biden used it for the pardons.

Furthermore, Trump charged that Biden was cognitively incapable of issuing the pardons and “did not know anything about them.” That’s another unsupported allegation by Trump. In fact, Biden spoke about the pardons publicly and provided a detailed explanation of why they were warranted, saying in part that “Our nation owes these public servants a debt of gratitude for their tireless commitment to our country.” Even Trump’s anti-Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, conceded that she couldn’t back up Trump’s claims about Biden’s mental acuity when asked by CNN’s Kaitlan Collins…

That said, if any presidential pardons were subject to revocation, it’s Trump’s. The proclamation he issued at the time said that…

“Acting pursuant to the grant of authority in Article II, Section 2, of the Constitution of the United States, I do hereby: … (b) grant a full, complete and unconditional pardon to all other individuals convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021;

“The Attorney General shall administer and effectuate the immediate issuance of certificates of pardon to all individuals described in section (b) above.”

Note the vague references to who he was pardoning. He doesn’t mention them by name. Which would be difficult because there were more than 1,500 of them. And his specification of “individuals convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021,” could mean anybody. He doesn’t say. He doesn’t even define the “event that occurred” to which his pardons apply. It could mean a bank robbery that was “at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.” Does the bank robber, and everyone who committed any crime at or near the Capitol that day, get a pardon?

Trump went on to threaten the members of the Select Committee on the Investigation of January 6th (Liz Cheney, Bennie Thompson, Adam Kinzinger, etc.) with investigations, despite their having been properly pardoned by Biden. He also accused them, falsely, of having “destroyed and deleted ALL evidence obtained.” That’s a lie that was debunked long ago.

Trump’s belief that he can revoke Biden’s pardons is just more proof of his ignorance of, and disrespect for, the Constitution and the law. It affirms his utter unfitness to serve. And if anyone’s pardons are improper and revocable, it’s Trump’s. So I am hereby declaring them “Void, Vacant, and of No Future Force or Effect.” You’re welcome!

Trump Gets Hit Where it Hurts: TV Ratings for His Inauguration Fall 27% Below Joe Biden’s

Ever since the election last November, Donald Trump has been exaggerating – aka lying – about the scope of his victory. He repeatedly refers to it as a “landslide,” despite the fact that his margin of victory over Vice President Kamala Harris was a mere 1.5%, one of the narrowest wins in modern times.

This is typical of Trump’s acutely narcissistic psychosis that causes him to obsess over measurements of the size of everything from vote results, to rally attendance, and even to his manhood. His compulsion to overstate reality is something that he has bragged about, calling it “truthful hyperbole,” or in plain English, lying!

Another metric that Trump clings to for emotional support is television ratings. His long occupation as a reality TV game show host has fused his fetish for Nielsen numbers into his corroding cranial cavity. But his dependence on audience affirmation may deal him a severe blow now that the ratings for his inauguration have been released…

“Trump’s second swearing-in brought in an average total viewership of 24.59 million viewers […] Viewership for the 2025 inauguration was down 27% from Biden’s 2021 inauguration, which scored an audience of 33.76 million viewers.[…] The 2025 inauguration also saw a 19.75% viewership downtick from Trump’s first inauguration in 2017, which scored 30.64 million viewers.”

UH-OH. Trump is gonna have an aneurism when he gets wind of this. Dropping below his prior inauguration would be bad enough. But getting swamped by President Biden may be too much for him to bear. Perhaps even worse for Trump, he also didn’t come close to President Obama’s audience of 37.8 million viewers in January of 2009.

If anything, Trump’s numbers should have been higher due to the freezing weather that forced his event inside the Capitol Rotunda, as well as forcing people to stay home and watch the lie-riddled affair on TV. Plus, he has the advantage of a dedicated Ministry of Propaganda – aka Fox News – to blast his orange puss to an adoring cult following that is permanently plastered to the channel. With regard to that, Fox did its part by delivering nearly half of the total TV audience (10.3 million viewers) for the inauguration day festivities. The rest of the TV audience clearly had better things to do.

This is further evidence that Trump’s reoccupation of the White House is not the popular ratification of his return that he pretends that it is. And he cannot make a rational argument that he has anything resembling a mandate to implement his extremist, authoritarian agenda. Unfortunately, that won’t stop him from trying. And it is up to the people to spread the truth, and to make sure that the cowardly, complicit, legacy media reports it.

Fox’s devotion to Dear Leader Trump drives their editorial ideology. So much so that they continue to fawn over and lie about Trump despite having had to pay a $787 million settlement for defamation as a result of their brazenly dishonest parroting of Trump’s 2020 election denials and outright lies. Which they continue to do to this day.

On Thursday morning Fox Business host Gerri Willis was a guest on Fox’s “Outnumbered.” The discussion covered some of the controversy over the seizure of the American government by tech billionaires, including Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk. With regard to the latter, Willis was inexplicably confounded as to why Democrats would have any problem with Musk’s utterly inappropriate role as an unelected, virtual shadow president…

“The whole idea that the left is mad at Elon Musk makes me crazy because he’s the one who developed their favorite product in the world: the electric car. So how can you be mad at him?”

REALLY? Willis has to be one of the dimmest bulbs in the Fox News marquee. First of all, Musk didn’t develop the electric car. He bought Tesla from the more intelligent and creative people who did develop it. Secondly, Tesla is not the “favorite product” of progressives. In fact, they have led the exodus of buyers who stopped patronizing Musk’s auto business.

More to the point, Willis is pitifully dense if she can’t grasp why Democrats would oppose Musk after he completely betrayed the environmental movement by buying the presidency for Trump, a climate change denier who thinks that it is a hoax perpetrated by China. And climate change is only the tip of the iceberg of Trump policies that Musk endorses that are anathema to progressives.

Coincidently – or perhaps not – President Biden addressed the same subject in his Oval Office farewell address to the nation Wednesday night. He issued a passionate wake up call to Americans, alerting them to the danger of the emerging Trump oligarchy…

“Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power, and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms, and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead. We’ve seen the consequences all across America and we’ve seen it before.

“More than a century ago, the Americans stood up to the robber barons back then and busted the trusts. They didn’t punish the wealthy, just made the wealthy play by the rules everybody else had to. Workers want rights to earn their fair share. You know, they were dealt into the deal and helped put us on the path to building the largest middle class, the most prosperous century any nation in the world has ever seen.”

The horrific fire storm in Los Angeles has driven thousands of people from their homes and put families and businesses at risk. Well, almost everyone. True to form, Trump and his heartless MAGA minions have endeavored to wring every ounce of political animus out of the tragedy. Desi Lydic of the Daily Show noticed and led Wednesday night’s program with an apt description of Trump’s response.

“While everyone else is deeply concerned about what is going on in Los Angeles right now, Trump is handling the tragedy like the statesman that he is.”

Whereupon Lydic played a CNN clip noting that Trump is blaming California Gov. Gavin Newsom for the fires. And in addition to his lying flagrantly, he deploys his infamously infantile nicknaming by calling the Governor “Newscum.”

However, Lydic only scratched the surface of Trump’s malicious immaturity and callous insensitivity to the real suffering that people are undergoing. On his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, Trump posted six separate, certifiably insane comments attacking Gov. Newsom, President Biden, and other Democrats as somehow being responsible for the fires. Needless to say, virtually all of Trump’s rants were flat-out lies, including that…

ONE: “Fire is spreading rapidly for 3 days — ZERO CONTAINMENT. Nobody has ever seen such failed numbers before! Gross incompetence by Gavin Newscum and Karen Bass….And Biden’s FEMA has no money — all wasted on the Green New Scam! L.A. is a total wipeout!!!”

TWO: “One of the best and most beautiful parts of the United States of America is burning down to the ground. It’s ashes, and Gavin Newscum should resign. This is all his fault!!!”

THREE: Let this serve, and be emblematic, of the gross incompetence and mismanagement of the Biden/Newscum Duo.

FOUR: “NO WATER IN THE FIRE HYDRANTS, NO MONEY IN FEMA. THIS IS WHAT JOE BIDEN IS LEAVING ME. THANKS JOE!”

FIVE: “As of this moment, Gavin Newscum and his Los Angeles crew have contained exactly ZERO percent of the fire. It is burning at levels that even surpass last night. This is not Government. I can’t wait till January 20th!”

SIX: “Governor Gavin Newscum refused to sign the water restoration declaration put before him that would have allowed millions of gallons of water, from excess rain and snow melt from the North…He wanted to protect an essentially worthless fish called a smelt…He is the blame for this.”

LATE ADDITION: [Because Trump thinks there’s a big faucet in Northern California] “Governor Gavin Newscum should immediately go to Northern California and open up the water main, and let the water flow.”

Note that, in addition to Trump’s utterly dishonest caterwauling, he doesn’t offer a single word of condolence or concern for the people affected. He is wholly consumed by his political hostilities and his shamelessly childish nicknames and insults. He couldn’t care less about the victims. Trump’s Press Conference is the Best Evidence Yet that He is Positively, Irreparably Insane

If there is one thing that Donald Trump excels in, it is his unmatched ability to find ways to sink to ever deeper depths of depravity no matter how low his previous descent was. And in that endeavor he is constantly underestimated by well meaning observers who were incorrectly convinced that he had hit rock bottom.

Get used to it America. There is no bottom for Trump. And the press conference that he held on January 7, 2025, will serve as testimony to Trump’s acutely scrambled psychotic state of mind. And true to form, he exceeded the cognitive collapse that he exhibited just the day before on the four year anniversary of his violent and deadly January 6th insurrection.

There was an abundance of derp presented in the presser. Too much to recap in detail without suffering severe derp-exposure. Consequently, what follows are just a half dozen select excerpts that are more than sufficient to demonstrate how mentally diseased our president-elect is.

FIRST: Trump whined about President Biden’s offshore drilling ban, saying that “625 million acres…That’s like the whole ocean.” However, 625 million acres is only 0.7% of the 88 billion acres of Earth’s oceans.

SECOND: Regarding the January 6th insurrection, Trump was asked if he was “planning to pardon those who were charged with violent offenses.” He replied “We’re looking at it.” Then he went on to demand that “We have to find out about Hezbollah” and their role in it.

THIRD: Trump wouldn’t be Trump if he wasn’t making up stupid stuff like, “This would be the only insurrection in history where people went in as insurrectionists with not one gun. […] And why didn’t they find the pipe bomber. I mean, they know who the pipe bomber is.”

FOURTH: Since he is divinely infallible, Trump insists that “I did nothing wrong.” Well, nothing but inciting an insurrection, sexually abusing multiple women, stealing classified documents and lying about them to the FBI, paying a porn star “Hush Money” and misreporting it on financial forms. And so much more. But other than that…

FIFTH: And then there was this initiative that voters were crying out for: “We’ll be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.”

SIXTH: Finally, when asked if he could assure that he would not use military means to take over Panama or Greenland, Trump responded “I’m not going to commit to that, no.” Because he says that the U.S. “needs Greenland for national security purposes.” Really? Ya mean like Hitler needed England and France and the rest of Europe?

It’s too bad that the 25th Amendment to the Constitution can’t be plausibly invoked once Trump is inaugurated. Because he is unarguably certifiable. However, thanks to Trump and his sycophantic Supreme Court justices, President Biden has “absolute immunity” for “official acts.” Maybe there is some principled, non-violent way he could use that now to save America from the madness of wannabe King Donald.

Without a doubt, the darkest day in American history from a political perspective was January 6, 2021, when Donald Trump sent a violent mob of his motley cult followers to the Capitol to try to undermine democracy by force. Perhaps the second darkest political day is January 6, 2025, when Trump is certified to embark upon his second occupation of the White House, despite his prior treasonous activities. In the interim he has also been convicted of 34 felonies and adjudicated a rapist. And he continues to brazenly distort history with his gaslit misrepresentations of the riots that he incited as peaceful and patriotic demonstrations.

“Biden is doing everything possible to make the TRANSITION as difficult as as possible, from Lawfare such as has never been seen before, to costly and ridiculous Executive Orders on the Green New Scam and other money wasting Hoaxes. Fear not, these ‘Orders’ will all be terminated shortly, and we will become a Nation of Common Sense and Strength. MAGA!!!”

It takes an unimaginable heap of chutzpah for Trump to accuse President Biden of making a transition difficult after he literally provoked a riot in an effort to completely halt the last transition. Yet somehow Trump manages to accomplish that feat. He always seems to have the ability to sink lower than whatever lowly. dastardly deed he did before. But this is one for the record books.

And speaking of the record, Vice-President Kamala Harris showed how a decent, patriotic statesperson behaves during a presidential transition. Even while having to deal with the disappointment of having lost to a convicted felon, sexual abusing, pathological lying, wannabe dictator, Harris performed her constitutional duties with grace and dignity, noting in a video statement that…

“The peaceful transfer of power is one of the most fundamental principles of American democracy. As much as any other principle, it is what distinguishes our system of government from monarchy or tyranny. Today at the United States Capitol, I will perform my constitutional duty as vice president of the United States to certify the results of the 2024 election. This duty is a sacred obligation, one I will uphold, guided by love of country, loyalty to our Constitution, and my unwavering faith in the American people.

“As we have seen, our democracy can be fragile, and it is up to then each one of us to stand up for our most cherished principles, and to make sure, in America, our government always remains of the people, by the people and for the people.”

For his part, Biden commemorated January 6th in an op-ed in the Washington Post where he wrote that…

“An unrelenting effort has been underway to rewrite — even erase — the history of that day. To tell us we didn’t see what we all saw with our own eyes. To dismiss concerns about it as some kind of partisan obsession. To explain it away as a protest that just got out of hand.

“This is not what happened. In time, there will be Americans who didn’t witness the January 6th riot firsthand but will learn about it from footage and testimony of that day, from what is written in history books and from the truth we pass on to our children. We cannot allow the truth to be lost.”

Meanwhile, Trump is whining about what a miserable victim he is, barking out orders to his MAGA minions in Congress, and promising to implement an agenda that emulates his authoritarian idols in Russia and China. And he is still promising to pardon the criminals who attacked the Capitol four years ago as a reward for their blind loyalty to Dear Leader. Which makes it all the more imperative for Democrats, and all other patriots, to stay strong and resist the Trump/MAGA cult, and to defend American principles and democracy.

Crybaby Trump Whines About Flags Being at Half Mast for Jimmy Carter During His Inauguration

As the new year begins, Donald Trump is demonstrating the character – or lack thereof – for which he is notorious. And nothing represents the Trump brand more than his incessant and petulant whining. It’s something that he is proud of, having bragged himself – on video – that he is “the most fabulous whiner.”

In addition to his prowess as a whiner, Trump is also proving his mettle as a pitifully sore winner. Despite having been reelected – albeit by a historically narrow margin – he can’t seem to stop complaining about how miserable he is and how put upon as a victim of his innumerable perceived enemies. Consequently, he resorts to venting his spleen by attacking the country he is pretending to serve.

On Friday morning, Trump took to his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, to let loose his wrath on what he seems to believe was a personal vendetta carried out by the late Pres. Jimmy Carter, as a conspiracy to die shortly before Trump’s inauguration. Trump raged that…

“The Democrats are all ‘giddy’ about our magnificent American Flag potentially being at ‘half mast’ during my Inauguration. They think it’s so great, and are so happy about it because, in actuality, they don’t love our Country, they only think about themselves. Look at what they’ve done to our once GREAT America over the past four years – It’s a total mess! In any event, because of the death of President Jimmy Carter, the Flag may, for the first time ever during an Inauguration of a future President, be at half mast. Nobody wants to see this, and no American can be happy about it. Let’s see how it plays out. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Let’s begin to dissect this dim-bulb diatribe from the beginning. Trump’s assertion that “Democrats are giddy” has no basis in reality, and he doesn’t bother to cite any examples. The only message that Democrats have in lowering the flags to half mast is one of respect and tribute to an honorable former President.

It is Trump who is only thinking about himself, as usual. He can’t comprehend the notion of paying tribute to someone other than himself. And if anyone else should try to do so, he believes it is a deliberate affront to him. So he lashes out and disparages the whole country as being “a total mess.” All because he is butthurt by the prospect of his exaltation …er… inauguration being screwed up by the inconsideration of Carter choosing to die at a time that is so inconvenient to Trump.

A decent political leader would be proud to be inaugurated with flags at half mast in honor of an esteemed predecessor. They would find a way to pay a personal tribute in their inaugural address. But not Trump. He sees it as a stain on his day of glory that “no American can be happy about.” And he closes by making a veiled threat saying “Let’s see how it plays out.” Is Trump plotting to raise the flags, or otherwise disrupt Carter’s remembrance?

For good measure, that was not the only thing that Trump was whining about on Friday morning. He also complained about President Biden awarding Liz Cheney and Bennie Thompson the Presidential Citizens Medal for their work co-chairing the January 6th Committee that investigated the insurrection that Trump incited. And Trump’s whimpering was predictably littered with flagrant lies. Here is what he wrote with annotated fact checks…

Trump: “Biden gave Liz Cheney a Medal yesterday, even though she has proven to be totally corrupt. She, ‘Bennie’ Thompson, and the rest of the Unselect Committee, destroyed and deleted all evidence from their crooked investigation of January 6th.”
Fact: No evidence was destroyed or deleted, and it is still available online.

Trump: “Liz Cheney, Cryin’ Adam Kinzinger, Bennie Thompson, and the rest of these dishonest Thugs have gotten away with horrible things under the pretense of January 6th. Nancy Pelosi refused to accept the help which was offered for security.”
Fact: Trump’s own national security staffers denied that any offer of help was made. What’s more, the security of the District of Columbia is the President’s responsibility, which was Trump at the time.

Trump: “They have destroyed the lives of many people, and are rewarded by getting Biden Fake Medals. This is not America.”
Fact: There is nothing fake about the medals. And the people whose lives Trump says were destroyed were the violent rioters who assaulted the Capitol, threatened the lives of Congress members and his own VP, and sent 140 police officers to the hospital. He is still insisting that “Everybody on that committee…should go to jail.” While he also promises to pardon his criminal StormTrumpers.

Trump’s belligerence is escalating as his reoccupation of the White House nears. And his MAGA/Project 2025 agenda is every bit as bad as feared. So can we finally put to rest the nonsense that Trump has – or can – mature and behave like a statesman, or even an adult? He is an imminent danger to democracy and is as anti-American as it gets. And the keyword for Democrats, and all patriots, for the next four years is RESIST!

Well, almost everyone. True to form, Donald Trump is plagued by his persistent fits of distemper and hostility aimed at the armies of perceived enemies that he imagines are converging to destroy him. While others are preparing for parties and good times with loved ones, Trump generally celebrates holidays like these with infantile attacks on the conspirators plotting against him, such as his message last year…

“HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of the Radical Left Democrats, Marxist Lunatics, China loving Coco Chow and her Obedient Husband, Mitch, and Clueless RINOS, who are working so hard to DESTROY our once great Country.”

Heartwarming, isn’t it? This year Trump continues to focus on the tribulations of his miserable existence. For someone who is always bragging about his wealth and success at everything he does, he sure seems to complain a lot. And on New Year’s Eve morning Trump was furious that the Senate, whose constitutional duty it is to provide “advice and consent” to presidential nominees, actually has the audacity to plan confirmation hearings. Trump raged that…

“We just won a Historic Landslide and Mandate from the American People, but Senate Democrats are organizing to improperly stall and delay the confirmation process of many of our Great Nominees. They will try all sorts of tricks starting very soon. Republicans must not allow them to do that. We have a Country to run, and many big problems to solve, mostly created by Democrats. REPUBLICANS, BE SMART AND TOUGH!!!”

Let’s begin to unpack that harangue by noting that Trump’s claim to have “won a Historic Landslide and Mandate” is a flagrant lie. The margin of victory over Vice-President Kamala Harris was a mere 1.6%, one of the narrowest margins in modern history. Consequently, the only mandate he has is in his ego-warped, cartoon brain.

The remainder of Trump’s rant addresses his outrage that Democrats in the Senate, and even a few Republicans, intend to hold confirmation hearings to assess the suitability of Trump’s Cabinet and White House nominees. And no wonder he’s upset. His nominees are profoundly unqualified, inexperienced, and utterly unfit for the jobs that Trump nominated them to perform. Many of Trump’s nominees are, in fact, downright hostile toward the departments they are being asked to run. For instance…

  • Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services, advocates terminating most of the experts at the Food and Drug administration, the Centers for Disease Control, and the Centers For Medicare and Medicaid Services.
  • Kash Patel, his nominee for FBI Director, has promised to go after the media as well as members of the Bureau for imaginary crimes against Trump.
  • Pete Hegseth, his nominee for Secretary of Defense, has advocated on behalf of soldiers convicted of war crimes.
  • Pam Bondi, his nominee for Attorney General, says she will prosecute the U.S. attorneys under her in the Justice Department.
  • Linda McMahon, his nominee for Secretary of Education, has called for the Education Department to eliminated.

In Trump’s mind, the hearings themselves are “improper” and meant to stall the consecration of his blindly loyal apparatchiks. He believes that Democrats are engaging in “tricks” by inquiring into the qualifications of Trump’s flunkies. And he is beseeching his fellow Republicans to prohibit the Senate from fulfilling their Constitutional duties.

These are the demands of an aspiring authoritarian who seeks unchallenged power and unflinching fealty to Dear Leader. And the fact that Trump is obsessing over this on a day that most other Americans are celebrating the new beginnings of a new year tells you just how serious he is about exalting himself as the this new year unfolds.

Trump must not be allowed to prevail in this wholly un-American perversion of democratic principles. The American people must resist his assault on our Constitution and the liberties it provides. And the resistance begins right after we’re done partying and celebrating the turning of the calendar’s page. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

Trump is Terrified of Being Blamed for Extending the Debt Ceiling – That He is Trying to Extend

Donald Trump is a walking encyclopedia of psychoses. He suffers from a mind-boggling array of mental maladies ranging from malignant narcissism, to paranoid personality disorder, to delusions of grandeur, to sadistic sociopathy, to substance use disorder, to pathological lying, to generalized anxiety, to senile dementia, to the dreaded Cartoon Brain Syndrome.

Trump Fear

A common characteristic of many of these disorders is a crippling fear of events that trigger exaggerated defensive responses. The result is that the sufferer is in a near constant state of terror that something awful has occurred, or is about to. Consequently, Trump is perpetually on guard against imaginary threats and lashes out with wild preemptive strikes against his perceived foes.

SUCH AS: LOLOL: ‘Feds Hijacked Truth Social’ According to Trump Post. And He Wants it Checked Out, NOW!

Trump supplied a prime example of this behavior in a post to his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, on Sunday evening. He threw a hissy fit because Congress had passed a bipartisan Continuing Resolution to keep the government from shutting down that included an extension of the debt ceiling until the beginning of next year. He raged in part that…

“The extension of the Debt Ceiling by a previous Speaker of the House…will go down as one of the dumbest political decisions made in years. There was no reason to do it – NOTHING WAS GAINED, and we got nothing for it. […] The Democrats must be forced to take a vote on this treacherous issue NOW, during the Biden Administration, and not in June. They should be blamed for this potential disaster, not the Republicans!”

Trump’s rant began with a swipe at former GOP speaker Kevin McCarthy for agreeing to a compromise bill that relied on Democratic support to pass. Without the Democrats there would have been no bill and the the government would have had to shutdown, causing millions of people – especially seniors and soldiers – significant hardship. The avoidance of that hardship is what Trump calls “one of the dumbest decisions made in years.” Trump went on to complain that “we got nothing for it,” because everything in Trump’s mind is transactional. To heck with the American people. If he isn’t paid some sort of tribute, it wasn’t worth doing.

In closing, Trump demanded that a new vote be held immediately to extend the debt ceiling so that the bill and the blame would be recorded during President Biden’s term. Notice that Trump’s argument has nothing to do with what is in the best interests of the nation or the people. The only thing he cares about is the appearances and who he thinks will get the blame. And he is mortified that he will be blamed for the debt ceiling extension.

Let that sink in. Trump is afraid that he will be blamed for extending the debt ceiling that he himself is insisting be extended as soon as possible. Which must make perfect sense if you have the ghastly psychological profile described above.

To make matters worse, the criticism that Trump is casting is actually falling on his fellow Republicans who are in the majority in the House of representatives. And his attack on former Speaker McCarthy is comically hypocritical. Because in another insanely long, rambling, and grossly dishonest Sunday evening post, Trump shows that he is a profoundly deranged sore winner.

In that post, and nearly two months after his narrow victory, Trump is still whining about the election. He’s also lying, saying that he won by a landslide when, in fact, it was one of the closest races in modern history. And he alleges that there was “large scale voter fraud” without a shred of evidence. Then he closes with his trademark “Complete & Total Endorsement” of Speaker Mike Johnson, whose prospects of being reelected to the post are hanging by a thread.

Never mind that Johnson also pushed through a Continuing Resolution, with the help of Democrats, that was similar to the one McCarthy negotiated. But in Trump’s mind, McCarthy’s bill was “one of the dumbest” in years, while Johnson’s earned him a hearty endorsement. You figure it out.

Clearly Trump is frightened that he will be saddled with responsibility for the debt ceiling increase that he himself is actually demanding. And he’s clinging to Johnson as Speaker because he’s afraid of igniting another Speaker battle that goes on for three weeks into his next term. And if this is how his next term is starting, it’s going to be a long four years.
