Fox News Flunky Peter Doocy Deliberately Distorts Biden’s Pro-Police Calls for Unity

The Republican Party has become so deeply damaged by Donald Trump and his gargantuan, though fragile, ego, that they are abandoning the principles that were once the core of their political doctrine. For decades the GOP tried to pass itself off as the “law and order” party, despite the fact that many more of their members have been charged and convicted of crimes.

Fox News, Peter Doocy

On Tuesday President Biden was in Pennsylvania to deliver a speech about public safety. He was taking head on what Republicans have traditionally claimed was a policy they believed was their personal property. However, a key component of Biden’s message was that “When it comes to public safety in this nation, the answer is not defund the police, it’s fund the police.”

Biden also condemned the GOP’s support for Trump, even after he incited a violent insurrection in Washington, D.C., during which more than 140 law enforcement officers were injured. And he made reference to Sen. Lindsey Graham’s unconscionable threat that there will be “riots in the streets” if Trump is held to account for his cavalcade of criminality.

RELATED: Lindsey Graham Tells Fox News that ‘There Will Be Riots in the Streets’ if Trump is Prosecuted

As Biden was speaking, Fox News, true to form, cut away from the speech to fling unfounded criticisms at him. Among those interrupting Biden to bash him was Fox’s Senior Nepotistic White House correspondent, Peter Doocy. And as is required by Fox News, he offered a purposefully dishonest representation of Biden’s comments in a deceptively brief clip…

Biden: Whose side are you on?
Doocy: Compare the volume there with this measured line from the inaugural address. The President said “We can join forces, stop the shouting, and lower the temperature.” The President said, on his first day, he thinks unity is the path forward, is now telling people instead to pick a side.

There is so much wrong with that short burst of bullpucky. First of all, does Doocy really think that an analysis of the volume of Biden’s voice is some sort of profound insight? More to the point, Doocy is deliberately misrepresenting Biden’s remarks. Biden was not asking anyone to pick a side with respect to a political party, as Doocy implied. He was asking people to choose police over violent rioters; respect for the law over lawless hostility. And Doocy knows that.

For the record, here is a longer clip of Biden’s remarks that presents them in context…

“So let me say this to my MAGA Republican friends in Congress. Don’t tell me you support law enforcement if you won’t condemn what happened on [January] 6th. Can’t do it. For god’s sake, whose side are you on? Whose side are you on? You’re either on the side of the mob or the side of police. You can’t be pro-law enforcement and pro-insurrection. You can’t be a party of law and order and call the people who attacked police patriots.

It is also important to note that unity is not a goal that must be met unconditionally. While there is merit to uniting Americans behind efforts to improve their lives and advance the interests of the nation, no American should seek unity with violent insurrectionists, Nazis, racists, traitors, or others who reject our laws and Constitution.

Finally, there is surely no need to form a unifying bond with disgraced former presidents who steal highly sensitive national security materials, store them insecurely at their resort/hotel, and lie to the FBI about having them. Certainly we can all unify behind that.

Trump Spins a New Crackpot Conspiracy Combining an FBI Retiree, Mar-a-Lago, and Hunter Biden

He’s at it again. Donald Trump is posting feverishly on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, about the avalanche of atrocities that have been accurately attributed to him. On this Tuesday morning he has pounded out more than 60 rage fueled rants, mostly reposts of random Truth Socialists and QAnon-sense accounts. And mostly with less than a 1,000 reposts on his thinly trafficked website.

Donald Trump, Deep State

Prominent among Trump’s plaintive whining is his paranoid fixation on what he believes to be the world’s determination to destroy his MAGA dreams. His acute victimhood is now focused on a conspiracy theory about a retiring FBI agent who Trump and his cult disciples are convinced is serving some clandestine anti-Trump cabal. Trump spun a fantastical tale about a…

“‘Special Agent’ In Charge of the unprecedented and unnecessary Raid and Break In of Mar-a-Lago [who] was also involved in the hiding and suppressing from the Public and the Media, the ‘Laptop from Hell,’ the 2020 Presidential Election Scam, and so much more!”

Trump also insisted that this bogus “scandal” warranted that some amorphous, unidentified overlord “Declare [him] the rightful winner” of the 2020 election, or “have a new Election, immediately!” Which anyone modestly educated about the law and the Constitution knows that that is not how any of this works.

RELATED: Wannabe Dictator Trump Decrees a Delusional Demand that He Be Anointed American Messiah

What Trump is referring to is a report that Agent Timothy Thibault is retiring after 25 years of service to the FBI. This exceedingly ordinary event has been clutched onto by Republicans and the wingnut press as having some sort of secret and nefarious back story. Along with Trump, they are accusing him of having been in charge of the search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago bunker, as well as the investigation into Hunter Biden’s stolen laptop.

The truth, however, is quite different. Thibault is a relatively low-level staffer with the D.C. field office. He had no authority to influence either the Biden case or the investigation into Trump’s hoarding of highly sensitive national security materials at his Palm Beach resort/hotel. Also, the Biden case was actually run out of a different FBI field office and it is still ongoing.

In any case, the FBI would not have opened a politically charged case in October of 2020, so close to an election. Even Fox News reported that Thibault had nothing to do with Mar-a-Lago:

“Thibault was one of 13 assistant special agents in charge at the Washington field office. He was not involved in the FBI raid on former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate earlier this month at any level.”

Trump cultists have been busy maligning law enforcement for allegedly suppressing the probe into Hunter Biden. They complained that “Deep State” actors sought to portray the existence of his stolen laptop as Russian propaganda. However, news reports were not saying that the laptop didn’t exist, only that Russia was exploiting the story to foment distrust in American democracy. They were. And, not coincidentally, so was Donald Trump.

The Trumpies got their latest crackpot theory from an interview of Facebook boss, Mark Zuckerberg, by Joe Rogan. It’s rather telling that when Zuckerberg said that the FBI had warned him of a spike in Russian disinformation, the right-wing echo chamber immediately claimed it was about Hunter Biden, even though Zuckerberg never said that. It’s an utterly false narrative that is also being spread on Fox News…

Trump himself cited the Rogan/Zuckerberg interview as proof that, but for the “fake News” he “would have easily won the 2020 Presidential Election.” Which is a rare admission by Trump that he actually lost the election. And not because of a massive, nationwide campaign of voter fraud, but because of alleged misreporting about the travails of President Biden’s wayward son. Yeah, that’s the ticket! And with that we have hit a temporary bottom for Trump’s pathetic excuse-making. But don’t be fooled. He can still go much lower.

Wannabe Dictator Trump Decrees a Delusional Demand that He Be Anointed American Messiah

As the legal peril that is engulfing Donald Trump continues to choke off any plausible opportunities to escape accountability for his multitude of crimes, he is exhibiting ever more severe degrees of desperation. It’s the cornered rat syndrome that is driving his increasingly bizarre outbursts and fits of rage.

Donald Trump Messiah

On Monday morning Trump posted an extraordinarily deranged rant on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. In his customarily inarticulate, run-on sentence style of incoherent blather, Trump lashed out at his perceived enemies with the viciousness and venom of someone who is both frightened and unalterably conscious of his guilt.

RELATED: Lindsey Graham Tells Fox News that ‘There Will Be Riots in the Streets’ if Trump is Prosecuted

Trump seethed

“So now it comes out, conclusively, that the FBI BURIED THE HUNTER BIDEN LAPTOP STORY BEFORE THE ELECTION knowing that, if they didn’t, “Trump would have easily won the 2020 Presidential Election.” This is massive FRAUD & ELECTION INTERFERENCE at a level never seen before in our Country. REMEDY: Declare the rightful winner or, and this would be the minimal solution, declare the 2020 Election irreparably compromised and have a new Election, immediately!”

Needless to say, everything in that post is a lie. To begin with, it has not come out, conclusively or otherwise, that “the FBI BURIED THE HUNTER BIDEN LAPTOP STORY.” What Trump is referring to is a recent interview of the chairman and CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, by Joe Rogan. Trump, and most of the right-wing echo chamber, has falsely reported that Zuckerberg told Rogan that the FBI had asked or ordered him to suppress any news about Hunter Biden’s stolen laptop.

However, Zuckerberg said nothing at all about that. He actually said only that the FBI had warned him of the possibility that Russian disinformation was likely to be disseminated online prior to the 2020 election, just as it was before the 2016 election. Which is irrefutably true. Zuckerberg said that…

“The background here is that the FBI came to us – some folks on our team – and was like ‘hey, just so you know, you should be on high alert. We thought there was a lot of Russian propaganda in the 2016 election, we have it on notice that basically there’s about to be some kind of dump that’s similar to that.”

Trump and his cult followers manufactured the version of that story that included Hunter’s laptop. And from that blatant distortion of reality, Trump baselessly asserted that he “would have easily won the 2020 Presidential Election” had there been more coverage of his fake Hunter news. He even put that in quotes, although he didn’t cite any source for what he was ostensibly quoting. And like everything else in Trump’s cartoon brain, it represented some horror that was “at a level never seen before.” For the record, Biden won by more than seven million votes and it’s highly unlikely that many Biden voters would have voted for Trump because of some controversy concerning his son.

Nevertheless, this is what Trump regards as “massive FRAUD & ELECTION INTERFERENCE.” And his solution to that fallacy is utterly and hysterically bonkers. Trump impotently demands that someone “declare the rightful winner” (which was Joe Biden) or “declare the 2020 Election irreparably compromised and have a new Election.” Of course, there is no one who has that authority, and there is nothing in the law or the Constitution that would provide for that preposterous “remedy,” even if it were warranted, which is isn’t.

RELATED: Trump Suffers Severe Cognitive Collapse, Claims that ‘Everyone Was Happy’ When He Was in Office

As with almost everything that Trump yammers about these days, this is a pathetic fiction that he’s trying to elevate into a scandal. It isn’t working. And the more he fails, the more desperate and unhinged he becomes. Look for him to start accusing Biden of having stolen his strawberries or of blasting him with Jewish space lasers. It’s just a matter of time.

Biden Was Wrong to Call MAGA Republicans Merely ‘Semi’ Fascist

Catching Republicans being hypocritical has completely lost any sporting challenge. It happens on such a regular basis that a blind archer could hit it after being spun around until dizzy.

Click here to Tweet this article

Joe Biden, Donald Trump

The latest example of the GOP’s stridently artificial outrage was revealed in their reaction to recent remarks by President Biden about what he has called the “Ultra-MAGA” Republican Party. When Republican politicians and pundits heard what he had to say, they rushed to distort his actually words, and to manufacture their alternative version. Because fidelity to reality has never been the right’s strength.

RELATED: BIDEN: Americans Have a Choice Between Two Very Different Sets of Values: Ultra-MAGA or Sanity

In a speech at a fundraising event, Biden expressed his view of the fiercely fanatical fear mongers who comprise so much of today’s Republicanism that is drenched in the hostility and ignorance of Donald Trump. Biden prefaced his remarks by explicitly narrowing them to the extremists in the GOP, saying that “I respect conservative Republicans. I don’t respect these MAGA Republicans.” Then he went on to address the uber-rightist faction of the party saying that

“What we’re seeing now is either the beginning or the death knell of an extreme MAGA philosophy. It’s not just Trump, it’s the entire philosophy that underpins the – I’m going to say something – it’s like semi-fascism.”

Oh my! Now he’s done it. Republicans launched into their customary knee-jerk response mode, wherein they extended Biden’s narrowly intended comments to every member of the GOP. Never mind that Biden specifically directed his criticism to the “extreme MAGA philosophy.” He elaborated saying that…

“The MAGA Republicans don’t just threaten our personal and economic security. They’re a threat to our very democracy. They refuse to accept the will of the people. They embrace political violence. They don’t believe in democracy. This is why in this moment, those of you who love this country, Democrats, Independents, mainstream Republicans, we must be stronger, more determined, and more committed to saving America than the MAGA Republicans are to destroying America.”

The only mistake Biden made in his speech was using the qualifier “semi.” There is nothing semi-fascist about inciting an insurrection. There is nothing semi-fascist about attempting to stage a coup and usurp power by undermining democracy. Their is nothing semi-fascist about pardoning your coup-plotting accomplices. There is nothing semi-fascist about suppressing the vote. There is nothing semi-fascist about demeaning the free press as the “enemy of the people.” There is nothing semi-fascist about stealing national security materials, hoarding them at your resort hotel/home in Florida, and lying to the FBI about it. And there is surely nothing semi-fascist about aspiring to authoritarianism and encouraging your cult disciples to support your tyrannical aspirations.

The disingenuous indignation emanating from the right is further negated by its sheer hypocrisy. While they are pretending to be mortally wounded by Biden’s deliberately narrow and irrefutable remarks, they seem to have forgotten all of their own far more offensive attacks on all Democrats and liberals. Republicans, including Trump, have disparaged everyone from Joe Biden to Joe Manchin as traitorous socialists, and even communists. Here are a couple of recent examples of the GOP putting their ignorance on display:

You know who else called their enemies fascist? Americans! It’s ironic that one of the right’s favorite bogeymen is an amorphous contingent of protesters that they have labeled “Antifa,” which is short for anti-fascist. So if Republicans are against that, are they admitting that they are pro-fascist?

One thing that Republicans can’t escape is that a majority of the American people are as disturbed by the MAGA Republican movement as Biden is. And this November could confirm that, so long as all voters are well informed and if Democrats turn out to vote in numbers equal to their composition of the electorate. That’s harder than it sounds, and requires hard work on behalf of patriots who want to save our democracy.

Ted Cruz Articulates the Republican Party’s Utter Disdain for Education and Young Voters

Last week President Biden fulfilled a campaign promise to address the problem of burdensome student college loans. The program provides forgiveness of $10,000 of outstanding loans – $20,000 for Pell grants – for people with incomes below $125,000 a year.

Click here to Tweet this article

Ted Cruz, Cancun

Within minutes of the announcement, Republicans and their conservative media mouthpieces began criticizing and lying about the program. They complained that it was a socialist handout that awarded deadbeats, loafers, and elitists.

The right-wing reaction revealed just how contemptuous the GOP is of working class Americans. And topping the list of liars is one of the GOP’s most prolific prevaricators, Sen. Ted Cruz. When he isn’t demonstrating his animosity for his troubled Texas constituents by jetting off to Cancun while they were freezing to death, Cruz is groveling on Fox News for the affection of Donald Trump, Tucker Carlson, or some other MAGA martinet.

RELATED: Tucker Carlson Emasculates Ted Cruz and Lies that ‘Not a Lot Happened’ on January 6th

On Friday Cruz pontificated on his podcast about how despicable Americans are if they had the audacity to better themselves and their prospects for the future by attending college. Never mind that Cruz graduated from Princeton and Harvard Law. In his perverse mind today’s youth are a generation of vermin who deserve nothing but mockery and scorn. Cruz ranted that…

“There is a real risk if you are that slacker barista who wasted seven years in college studying completely useless things, now has loans, and can’t get a job, Joe Biden just gave you 20 grand. Like, holy cow, that 20 grand, you know, maybe you weren’t gonna vote in November and suddenly, you just got 20 grand.

“And you know, if you can get off the bong for a minute and head down to the voting station, or just send in your mail-in ballot that the Democrats have helpfully sent you, it could drive up turnout, particularly among young people.”

So in Cruz’s putrid perspective, higher education is a waste of time. He thinks that today’s college graduates are “slackers” and potheads. And he believes that their votes can be bought by politicians who dare to actually serve the interests of the people. What a concept.

You have to wonder what Cruz regards as “completely useless things” to study. Well, judging by his record in Congress, it’s science (climate change), math (economics), history (American slavery), journalism (the enemy of the people), and public policy (which is what Cruz’s undergraduate degree at Princeton was for).

In the meantime, Biden is pursuing what the broad majorities of the American people support. He recently expressed his agenda in eloquent terms when he distinguished the choices voters have…

See: BIDEN: Americans Have a Choice Between Two Very Different Sets of Values: Ultra-MAGA or Sanity

“My plan attacks inflation and grows the economy by lowering costs for working families, giving workers well-deserved raises, reducing the deficit by historic levels, and making big corporations and the very wealthiest Americans pay their fair share.

“The other path is the ultra-MAGA plan put forward by congressional Republicans to raise taxes on working families; lower the incomes of American workers; threaten the sacred programs Americans count on like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid; and give break after break to big corporations and billionaires.”

Republicans have spent the last year and a half engaging in knee-jerk opposition to nearly everything that Biden and the Democrats have proposed. But despite that fierce obstructionism, Democrats have succeeded in advancing legislation that has stagnated for years in Congress. These bills have made significant progress on infrastructure, reproductive choice, gun safety, climate change, voting rights, tax fairness, veterans benefits, healthcare, and more. And Republicans opposed all of them.

RELATED: For Those Wondering What Biden and Democrats in Congress Have Been Doing the Past 16 Months…

It’s also notable that while Democrats are working on behalf of the people, Republicans are working on behalf of themselves. The White House posted a revealing thread on Twitter that brilliantly exposes the hypocrisy of Republicans who are attacking Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan, while they stuffed their own pockets with hundreds of thousands of dollars more…

Lara Trump Admits on Fox News that Her Sugardaddy-In-Law Interfered with Justice Dept Business

The fallout from the recent FBI search of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago bunker continues to make waves. With each new day there is accumulating evidence of his criminality and intentional hoarding of highly sensitive national security materials at his insecure Palm Beach resort hotel.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Lara Trump

In addition to the unfolding disclosures that Trump had personal knowledge that he was improperly refusing to return the documents upon demand – and even lying to the FBI that he had them – Trump has floated a shipload of increasingly preposterous excuses for his malfeasance and comically bizarre allegations against others.

RELATED: Trump’s Lawyers Have a Shiny New Excuse for His Hoarding Classified Documents at Mar-a-Lago

On Thursday morning, Lara Trump, spouse of Trump spawn Eric, assumed her position as a Fox News contributor. She was interviewed on Fox and Friends by Katie Pavlich about the stolen documents and made a rather unsurprising, but still grossly disturbing, confession. Pavlich opened the interview by asking “Do you believe Joe Biden when he says he had no prior knowledge of the raid?”

First of all, it’s President Biden. Secondly, who cares if Lara Trump believes him? Her belief has no legal or political value. And everyone already knows that she wouldn’t admit to believing anything that Biden says. So what is the point of the question? Finally, it was not a raid. It was a legally sanctioned search approved by a federal judge upon affirmation of probable cause. And it resulted in the recovery of illegally stolen, classified documents.

That said, Lara Trump began her reply predictably, and falsely, by opining that “I don’t believe anyone believes Joe Biden.” She followed that up by babbling about Hunter Biden, inflation, and other unrelated drivel that she doesn’t believe. Then Lara launched into this nonsensical spiel…

“It’s ridiculous to assume the current president did not know about an FBI raid from his own Department of Justice on the last president and a person that he may be running against in the upcoming 2024 election. What an outrageous statement from Joe Biden. I don’t think anyone believes that. And if you do believe that, then who is in charge of the White House? Who is making these calls? It is very concerning on all fronts and completely insane.”

The reason that Trump thinks it’s “ridiculous to assume” that Biden knew about the search is because during her father-in-law’s occupation of the White House it was routine to interfere with Department of Justice operations. He pressured, threatened, and even fired his Attorneys General and FBI directors in order to get his way. So naturally, Lara can’t comprehend that other presidents actually have integrity and respect the independence of the DoJ and and the FBI.

Lara goes on to imply that the President, being “in charge of the White House,” is therefore making calls with regard to politically-charged law enforcement activities. She insists that it would be “completely insane” to assume otherwise. The truth, however, is that those calls are reserved for Justice Department officials who are expected to consider only the law and refrain from politicizing their duties. Lara is tacitly admitting that that was not the practice during Donald’s tenure.

What’s more, Lara can’t seem to make up her mind as to whether Biden is a senile incompetent who doesn’t know what day it is, or a brilliant mastermind who controls every lever of the government. It’s a distinction that Daddy Trump is also incapable of making. In recent days he has been accusing Biden of the same improper interference that Lara is harping on. He posted a comment on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social that alleged that…

“Joe Biden said he knew nothing about the Break-In of Mar-a-Lago or, the greatest political attack in the history of the U.S. Does anybody really believe this???”

To answer Trump’s question – Yes, lots of people believe this. Millions of them, in fact. The only ones who don’t are his blindly obedient cult followers who have open disdain for the law, the Constitution, and long-cherished American principles.

But Trump is lucky to have such glassy-eyed disciples who will never question his wrongdoing, even when he – and his Fox News employed Daughter-in-law – admit to it on national television. And he’s lucky to have Fox News where they ask the same perverse questions that Trump himself asks.

Fox News Hack Peter Doocy Channels Trump Asking Biden About the FBI Search of Mar-a-Lago

President Biden on Wednesday released his plan to provide student loan forgiveness for low to middle income Americans. It’s a broadly popular initiative favored by a significant majority (60%) of voters, including 45% of Republicans. Even those who never incurred such debts approve of the relief.

Fox News, Joe Biden, Fake News

True to form, the Republican Party demonstrated their knee-jerk opposition to the plan, just as they oppose any program that benefits average citizens, rather than the corporations and wealthy oligarchs who bankroll the GOP.

Meanwhile, the Republican’s Ministry of Disinformation (aka Fox News) rose to the occasion to deflect from this good news story by showing up at Biden’s press conference and attempting to hijack it with a story that they thought they could frame more negatively. it was an overt act of desperation on the part of partisans who know they are losing.

RELATED: Laura Ingraham of Fox News Ponders Whether It’s ‘Time to Turn the Page’ on Donald Trump

When Biden called on Fox’s White House correspondent, Peter Doocy, to ask a question, Doocy ignored the subject at hand and went off on a wild tangent that, in the end, made him look like the “Stupid Son of a B*tch” that Biden once playfully called him:

Doocy: How much advance notice did you have of the FBI’s plan to search Mar-a-Lago?
Biden: I didn’t have any advance notice. None, zero, not one single bit.

Doocy’s question was not only utterly irrelevant to the day’s topic, it appeared to have been dictated by Donald Trump. The day before Biden’s student loan announcement, Trump posted a comment on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that alleged that the White House was “involved” with the FBI’s search from the beginning…

“The White House stated strongly that they were NOT INVOLVED, and knew absolutely nothing about, the political Witch Hunt going on with me, & that they didn’t know anything at all about the Break-In of Mar-a-Lago. This was strongly reiterated again & again. WRONG! Remember, these are the people who spied on my campaign, denied it, & got caught. Through the great reporting of John Solomon (Fake Pulitzer Prize?), documents reveal they knew everything, in fact led the charge – a political NO, NO!”

Trump based his allegations on documents made public by the wholly disreputable Trump propagandist, John Solomon. However, what Solomon produced didn’t in any way support the charge that Biden knew of the search in advance. In fact, it actually further incriminated Trump. What’s more, Trump’s rant repeated the long ago debunked charge that he was spied on.

There’s a reason that Fox News and Trump are trying so hard to be distracting and disruptive. They know that the American people are responding to the positive agenda that Democrats are pursuing and accomplishing under difficult circumstances. And they know that they can’t compete with the agenda of fear and negativity upon which they are fixated. Their record of saying “NO” to the things that the American people want isn’t going to help them in the midterms, or beyond. And the more that Democrats get out their positive message, the more likely they will be to prevail. All they need to do is juxtapose the following two memes…

Tucker Carlson Actually Tells the Truth: White Supremacists = Trump Supporters

One of the most extraordinary things about how the right-wing communicates is how often they reveal the ugliest truths about themselves. Sometimes it’s inadvertent, sometimes it’s deliberate because they have no shame and, in fact, are actually proud of their noxious beliefs.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Klan

This chronic compulsion of conservatives to out themselves is frequently demonstrated by the Fox News Senior White Nationalist, Tucker Carlson. His sermons on the racist “white replacement theory” are a regular part of his nightly televised Klan rallies. At least that’s when he isn’t dening that white supremacy even exists.

RELATED: What White Nationalists? Tucker Carlson of Fox News Acts Like the Mob Denying There’s a Mafia

On Monday night’s episode of the Fox News White Power Hour, Carlson was all atwitter over the recent FBI search of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago bunker, where he had stashed numerous boxes of national security materials that he stole before being evicted from the White House.

In an interminably long rant that was ostensibly about the FBI search, Carlson expressed his outrage at what he calls “acts of aggression and hostility aimed at Americans,” by the Biden administration. He began by insisting that the search was not “a legitimate act of law enforcement,” and that the official explanations “make no sense at all.” However, those explanations were complete and simple to understand for anyone who isn’t willfully dimwitted: Trump was unlawfully in possession of classified documents that he denied having and refused to return. What actually makes no sense are the myriad excuses Trump and his media mouthpieces have floated for his unlawful hoarding of those documents.

RELATED: Trump’s TV Lawyer Keeps Contradicting His (Variable) Excuses for Hoarding Classified Materials

In the course of Carlson’s harangue he revealed something about himself and all of the glassy-eyed disciples of the Cult of Trump. He confessed that…

“No American president has ever explicitly declared war on his own population. And yet, for the Biden administration it’s a near weekly occurrence. Here’s Joe Biden and his Attorney General Merrick Garland telling you that white supremacists – in other words Trump supporters, because that’s what they mean when they say ‘white supremacists,’ a term they have yet to define – white supremacists, Trump voters, are the single greatest terror threat the United States faces.”

Well, that was awfully considerate of Carlson to admit that “white supremacist” is just another way of saying “Trump supporter.” Not that most Americans haven’t already known that. Certainly the words and actions of Trump and his followers have affirmed it repeatedly. But it’s nice to have the most notorious racist spokesperson on Fox News explicitly confirm it.

For the record, what Carlson was referring to when he offered up comments by President Biden and Attorney General Garland were these quotes…

President Biden: According to the United States intelligence community, domestic terrorism from White supremacists is the most lethal terrorist threat in the homeland.

And…

Merrick Garland: In the FBI’s view, the top domestic violent extremist threat comes from racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists, specifically those who advocated for the superiority of the White race.

Those were both statements of fact that have been validated by domestic terrorism officials at the FBI during the Trump administration and under the supervision of an FBI director that Trump appointed. Apparently Carlson believes that the FBI, and Trump himself, are part of the “Deep State.”

Carlson’s commentary also alleged that “No American president has ever explicitly declared war on his own population.” Which makes one wonder where Carlson has been for the past six years. Donald Trump has done nothing but declare war on the American people. He has maligned them as radicals, communists, and traitors, determined to destroy the country. And he has leveled those charges against Democrats and Republicans alike.

What’s more, Carlson has literally accused the media of being “the enemy of the people.” And he, along with his Trumpified GOP, have disparaged every American institution from Congress, to academia, to medicine, to law, to religion, to entertainment, to family, to philanthropy, to business. They are all suspect as subversives for not showing sufficient adoration to Dear Leader Trump.

Yet somehow Carlson manages to manufacture an argument that casts Democrats as the villains. It’s par for the course for a professional propagandist so devoted to lying that Fox News successfully defended him in a lawsuit by saying that that there couldn’t be any defamation because “no reasonable person” would believe anything he says. Fox News Fear Mongers that Biden’s IRS Agents Will ‘Hunt Down and Kill Middle Class Taxpayers’

From its inception, Fox News has been a fear factory, manufacturing nightmarish scenarios that they could ascribe to Democratic politicians and pundits who seek to improve the lives of average Americans. The Fox News narrative is a non-stop dystopian disinformation machine built to undermine democracy, on behalf of the Republican GOP (Greedy One Percent).

Fox News, Joe Biden, Fake News

This week Democrats in Congress will pass the Inflation Reduction Act that achieves several long sought after progressive goals. It expands Obamacare subsidies. It caps Medicare drug costs. It imposes a minimum tax on billionaires and corporations. It makes the biggest allocation of funds to mitigate climate change in history. And much more.

Republicans are staunchly opposed to all of those widely popular measures. Every GOP senator voted against the bill. And another feature of the legislation that majorities of Americans support is being demonized in a particularly grotesque manner. The bill provides an additional $80 billion in funding for the IRS to enhance their services, modernize their systems, develop their labor force, and strengthen their enforcement capabilities targeting high income and corporate tax cheats.

The bill’s funding of the IRS has triggered right-wing politicians and media to fabricate ludicrous conspiracy theories in order to scare the American people. And nowhere is that more repulsive than on Fox News.

On Thursday, Brian Kilmeade, sitting in for Tucker Carlson, launched into a maniacal monologue that recklessly declared that the bill will produce IRS Agents who, acting as “Joe Biden’s new army,” will “hunt down and kill middle class taxpayers” (video below). Considering the violence that has recently been aimed at the FBI following Fox’s incendiary rhetoric, it isn’t far fetched to be concerned about the safety of IRS agents. But Kilmeade had no such concerns when he said that…

“The so-called Inflation Reduction Act also says the $80 billion budget is to increase enforcement, operational improvement, and customer service. What kind of customer service? We don’t have to wonder. Before the IRS took it down yesterday there was a posting on their website that listed the job requirements for a special agent’s position. The major duties require agents to carry a firearm and be willing to use deadly force, if necessary. A little like James Bond, but instead of hunting down evil maniacs, these agents hunt down and kill middle class taxpayers that don’t pay enough.”

Holy Shih Tzu! Kilmeade is explicitly accusing the IRS of plotting to “hunt and kill” American citizens. Chyrons during the segment included “Weaponizing the IRS to Hurt Middle Class Americans,” and “Biden’s New IRS Will Hunt Down the Little Guy.” That requires minds so sick that they should be confined to padded cells. But it is not only nauseating, it is flagrantly false.

Among the misrepresentation by Fox News is the assertion that the bill’s funding will result in the IRS hiring of 87,000 new agents. What Fox doesn’t say is that that number is over ten years and includes 40,000 hires who are intended to replace retiring employees in the next five years. Also, the hiring is across a wide range of positions including IT technicians and taxpayer services support staff. In reality, the new funding will only allow the IRS to net about 20,000 to 30,000 more employees, which would be just enough to restore the agency’s staff to where it was before Republicans embarked on a crusade to neuter it.

What’s more, the charge that any of the new agents would be tasked with auditing middle class taxpayers is blatantly untrue. For the record, the Secretary of the Treasury, Janet Yellin, had this to say on the subject…

“Specifically, I direct that any additional resources — including any new personnel or auditors that are hired — shall not be used to increase the share of small business or households below the $400,000 threshold that are audited relative to historical levels. This means that, contrary to the misinformation from opponents of this legislation, small business or households earning $400,000 per year or less will not see an increase in the chances that they are audited.”

Nevertheless, Fox News is devoted to their lying about the bill. Kilmeade also mentioned a poll (that he failed to identify) that “shows that 45% of the country fears the IRS will increase the number of audits.” So what? That number could be attributed mostly to just people who have been lied to by Fox News. And of course Trump, who has weighed in, is arguing that Democrats should vote against the bill because it “Adds 87,000 gun carrying IRS Agents to cajole and harass you and your family.” Which is typical of his dangerous derangement.

Anyone who still thinks that these cretins aren’t hankering for a civil war is terminally naïve. They couldn’t be more clear about their overtly hostile intentions, and their blind allegiance to authoritarian cult leaders. But they couldn’t be more idiotic either. And while they are small in number and destined to be losers, we still need to be vigilant and steadfast in defense of democracy and freedom.

Fox News Surprisingly Grills GOP Rep Scalise About His Wacko Charges of ‘Rogue’ FBI Agents

On Monday Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago bunker was served a with search warrant by the FBI who were reportedly looking for classified documents that Trump unlawfully took from the White House and failed to disclose he still had. It is a crime that has serious implications for national security, as well as severe penalties for violators.

Fox News Friends

Ever since then, Trump’s Republican cult followers, and especially Fox News, have been throwing up all manner of preposterous defenses for Trump’s malfeasance. Much of their psychotic overreactions were drenched with accusations of wrongdoing by the FBI and threats of violence against law enforcement. They even unleashed a coordinated media attack baselessly alleging that the FBI planted evidence.

However, on Thursday there was an uncharacteristically sane segment on Fox and Friends wherein co-host Steve Doocy actually challenged the Republican House Minority Whip, Steve Scalise, while he was in the process of disseminating the GOP screed about the FBI operation in Palm Beach. Doocy started off by saying…

Doocy: There are a number of people, online and elsewhere, that are demonizing the FBI. And some Republicans. Paul Gosar, a Republican in your caucus from Arizona, said, “We must destroy the FBI. We must save America. I stand with Donald Trump.” Marjorie Taylor Greene said, “Defend [he meant defund] the FBI.” I’m just curious, whatever happened to the Republican Party backing the blue? And in particular, the 35 members of law enforcement at the FBI?
Scalise: We’re very strong supporters of law enforcement, and it concerns everybody to see some agents go rogue, and if you see an agency that doesn’t have the right checks and balances at the top. this is coming from the top

You may have noticed that, rather than answering Doocy’s question, Scalise invented some imaginary “concerns” that “everybody” is having about “rogue” FBI agents. And in the same breath he placed the blame, not on rogue agents, but on the people “at the top.” So Doocy pressed further…

Doocy: Who went rogue? They were following a search warrant.
Scalise: We want to find that out. That’s why we’re asking these questions. Because there were reports yesterday saying that Merrick Garland didn’t even know about this raid. I don’t if anybody believes that, but he should be asked under oath if he knew about the raid prior to it happening. He hasn’t answered that question. Why hasn’t he held a press conference? Why won’t President Biden talk about this? That is deafening right now, that silence.

Scalise is now flagrantly lying. The examples that Doocy gave of Gosar and Greene were not questions. They were overt statements advocating the destruction and/or defunding of the FBI. What’s more, there have been no reports that Attorney General Merrick Garland didn’t know about this raid. To the contrary, almost every report said that Garland, and FBI Director Chris Wray (a Trump appointee), would have almost certainly had to sign off on it.

Scalise then complains that Garland hasn’t talked about the search. But Scalise knows – or should know – that it would be improper for him to do so. The search warrant was issued under seal. And President Biden has correctly remained distanced from the Justice Department’s operations.

The only one who could have provided any additional data about this was Trump himself. He has a copy of the search warrant, and there is nothing stopping him from releasing it. Well, nothing except the likelihood that it contains something that would incriminate him.

At this point co-host Brian Kilmeade chirps in with the news that GOP Rep. Scott Perry had his cellphone seized by the FBI. And Scalise suggests that there is something untoward about the IRS getting funding to add more agents, who will only be working on high-income individuals and corporations. Both of those matters are obvious deflections that have nothing to do with the search at Mar-a-Lago. But Doocy brings the discussion back to the issue at hand saying…

Doocy: Steve, why not wait a week or so until we know more about this search warrant, then immediately rush to judgment and say, “Yeah, the FBI, they’re crazy.”
Scalise: We’re asking questions right now that no one is answering. We’re not hearing the FBI answer any of these questions. We’re not hearing Justice. And we’re sure not hearing the White House.

Once again, Scalise is not asking questions. And the people he wants to speak out are prohibited by law and ethics from doing so. But what’s truly remarkable about this exchange is that Doocy was the one introducing a rational perspective to the discussion. It would be too soon to assume that there has been any change in Fox’s editorial stance on these matters. They are, after all, the ones who have been ranting about the FBI planting evidence. But it is sufficiently peculiar to keep an eye on.

UPDATE: AG Garland held a press conference Thursday afternoon to announce that the Justice Department will make a motion to unseal parts of the search warrant, so that they can be made public. That should make Scalise happy. Or, more likely, just make him have to contrive a different set of lies to cast aspersions on the FBI, law enforcement, the President, and to absolve his messiah Trump of any wrongdoing.

Garland noted that the Department of Justice intended the search to be conducted quietly, but it was Trump who made it a public spectacle. And when the warrant is made public like Republicans and Fox News have wanted, they will learn why it’s important to be careful what you wish for. You may just get it.
