HAH! Rudy Giuliani Before the Raid Was ‘Proud to Be On Biden Vindictive Government List’

Another day, another Donald Trump associate in legal hot water. This time it’s his personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, who is no stranger to being slathered in the slime that emanates from Trump World. He is already named in a billion dollar lawsuit by Smartmatic for defaming the company and spreading Trump’s “Big Lie” about election fraud.

On Wednesday morning it was revealed that Giuliani’s Manhattan apartment was raided by FBI agents on a warrant seeking to confiscate “electronic devices.” According to the New York Daily News…

“The FBI raided Rudy Giuliani’s Upper East Side apartment Wednesday morning in connection with the ongoing investigation into his dealings in Ukraine. […] The raid, first reported by The New York Times, is an overt sign that Manhattan federal prosecutors’ investigation into Giuliani is entering a new phase. It’s also a sign prosecutors think they have a strong case. Giuliani.”

This is a profoundly significant event in the long running investigation of Giuliani and his shady – already indicted – accomplices, Igor Fruman amd Lev Parnas. But it isn’t news to Giuliani. Last December he referenced the legal sword dangling over his leaky head in a tweet bursting with arrogance and pride:

Giuliani’s feigned outrage and utterly hysterical bravado will come as no surprise to anyone. After all, this is the same brilliant legal mastermind who proclaimed that “truth isn’t truth,” and presided over a loopy press conference at the Four Seasons – not the luxury hotel, but a local landscaping establishment sandwiched between a sex shop and a crematorium.

Giuliani seemed to think that Joe Biden was already president a month before his inauguration. Why else would he brag that he was “proud to be number one on Biden Vindictive government list,” when there wasn’t any Biden list – or government at all – at the time, vindictive or otherwise?

Giuliani then watered down his ludicrous assertion by attributing his persecution to “DOJ anti-Trumpers.” However, the investigation of Giuliani was being conducted entirely by Trump appointees in the U.S. Attorney’s office in the Southern District of New York. And they reported to Trump’s hand-picked Attorney Genuflect, Bill Barr. So if anyone was acting as the “GOVERNMENT Secret Police,” it’s Trump and his Justice Department.

Finally, Giuliani complained that there is no reason for this investigation because there has been no wrongdoing. That, of course, is not the opinion of the investigators who had already secured the indictments of his partners in crime. As for attorney/client privilege, there was no evidence that that was ever breached. Giuliani was not acting as Trump’s attorney when he sought to blackmail Ukraine’s president.

The consequences of Giuliani’s criminal misbehavior are beginning to emerge. The evidence contained on his phones and computers is likely to be incriminating, both for him and his sole client, the twice impeached former reality TV game show host. And if they’re lucky, they’ll be able to share a cell.

Psaki Bomb: Nobody Cares that Joe Biden Hasn’t Met with Kevin McCarthy

The first hundred days of the Biden administration has seen unprecedented productivity. Along with delivering on – and doubling – a campaign promise to get 100 million Americans vaccinated for COVID, Biden has presided over the passage of a $2 trillion pandemic relief and stimulus bill, restored Obamacare, rejoined the Paris Climate Accords and the World Health Organization, introduced a comprehensive immigration reform bill, and drafted new infrastructure and jobs legislation.

On virtually every one of these issues Biden has managed to secure majority support from the American people. On many of these issues that includes majority support from Republican voters. And despite that overwhelming popularity, the Republicans in congress have responded by objecting to anything and everything put forward by Biden and the Democrats to move the country forward. It’s knee-jerk obstructionism in the most poisonously partisan way.

That disparity between the negatively charged Republican Party and their hapless constituents was illustrated perfectly during Monday’s White House press briefing. Press Secretary Jen Psaki had to, once again, field questions from determined right-wing hacks posing as journalists. It’s becoming a routine spectacle that invariably results in what is now known as the “Psaki Bomb.” The latest example occurred when David Brody of the Christian Broadcasting Network initiated this exchange with Psaki:

Brody: [Biden] has not met with House minority leader Kevin McCarthy. What does that say about unity? And also there are some other legislative issues as it relates to HR 1, and a commission studying on packing the Supreme Court, as you would say. And there’s a lot of other lists as well. Budget reconciliation. So there’s a lot of folks – you talk about tens of millions of people – they’re concerned that this doesn’t seem like unity at all.”
Psaki: Do you think tens of millions of people are concerned about him not meeting with Kevin McCarthy?
Brody: No. I think tens of millions of people are concerned about HR 1 and budget reconciliation and going that fifty vote threshold.
Psaki: I’m not sure the polling bears that out. but I will say that the President’s view is that bringing the country together is bringing the American people together.

Psaki wasted no time in shooting down Brody’s suggestion that “unity” is somehow dependent on whether or not Biden meets with the minority leader of the House, Kevin McCarthy. Particularly when Biden’s policies are better liked by Republican voters than McCarthy is (He currently has a 20% approval rating, while Biden’s is in the mid-50s). Psaki pointedly noted that voters don’t really care about whether Biden meets with McCarthy, and that Biden is more focused on bringing together the American people than on uniting members of Congress when the GOP has no intention of playing nice.

Brody’s phrasing of his question revealed his bias when he referenced the commission that Biden formed to study judicial reforms. Brody called it a study “on packing the Supreme Court.” That, of course, is right-wing talking point. But he came closer to matters that voters actually care about when he tweaked his question to direct it to HR 1, the House-passed voting rights bill. There really are tens of millions of Americans who are concerned about getting this bill passed and signed in order to block the efforts by Republicans to make voting more difficult in many GOP-run states.

Psaki continues to impress with her sharp intellect and her gentle snark. Or is that her gentle intellect and her sharp snark. Either way she is an effective communicator and not someone these half-witted right-wing shills should be challenging. But they just don’t seem to learn that.

QAnon Rep Lauren Boebert Has a Sad Over Biden Doing What He Was Elected To Do

President Biden is really confounding the Trump-deprived Republican Party. They have been struggling for weeks to find any line of criticism that is plausible, or even remotely believable. Their efforts have led to ludicrous contrivances roping in innocent victims like Dr. Seuss and Mr. Potato Head. But Biden’s approval has actually increased since he beat Donald Trump last November, and is double-digits higher than Trump’s was at the same point.

The GOP has taken a stridently anti-Biden path with knee-jerk opposition to his most ambitious initiatives. Not a single Republican in Congress voted for the COVID relief and stimulus bill that garnered majority support by the American people, including Republicans. They are similarly rejecting Biden’s infrastructure and jobs bill that has equal support across the political spectrum.

As a result, Republican backbenchers are throwing whatever mud they find handy at the wall and hoping something sticks. So far, they have come up empty, unless you count the humiliation they’ve accumulated. Take, for instance, Colorado QAnon congresswoman Lauren Boebert (please). On Sunday she tweeted this…

Fortunately, we don’t have to imagine that. Biden has come into office and set a course toward undoing much of the damage that Trump and his thug brigades worked so hard to achieve. Biden told voters he would do just that during his campaign, and he’s keeping his promise. What Boebert doesn’t get is that this is not some new staff at a business coming in and changing everything. It is a new administration in the White House that the American people put there to do precisely what they’re doing.

However, that isn’t the only thing that Boebert is too ignorant to comprehend. Later the same day she tweeted this…

Boebert thinks that America’s millionaires and billionaires deserve a tax holiday? Never mind that they already “profited handsomely” during the pandemic. As reported by USA Today, while “The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered an economic crisis of a magnitude not seen since the Great Depression [and] more than half a year later, more than 11 million Americans remain unemployed […] America’s 614 billionaires grew their net worth by a collective $931 billion.”

So naturally Republicans like Boebert want to throw more money at their wealthy benefactors. Biden, on the other hand, is focused on rest of the population that has just received another stimulus check that every Republican voted against. And Biden thinks that it’s time for the rich to pay their fair share, so he’s proposing increases on taxes, but only for those earning more than $400,000.

What’s more, Boebert’s disingenuous sympathy for the small business that were locked down, and the job losses she mentioned, doesn’t acknowledge that all of that economic pain was exacerbated by Trump and her party’s negligent and incompetent mishandling of the pandemic. After that, it’s rather callous of her to use the suffering of the American people as a cudgel against Biden who is actually doing something to help them.

Finally, Boebert also posted a hysterical complaint regarding Biden’s attention to the climate crisis. She tweeted…

The only thing you need to know about this is that none of it is true. While it would be beneficial to both the health of the planet and its human occupants to reduce their intake of red meat, the charge that Biden made a proposal to force its elimination is flagrantly untrue. This is the sort of desperation that Republicans are resorting to attack Biden and other Democrats. They haven’t got anything substantive to talk about, so they invent “scandals” and distribute them to their dimwitted cult followers. But true to form, they don’t even do that very well.

Newt Gingrich Tells Fox News Biden’s Agenda, that Majority Supports, is Anti-American

Whenever you hear Republicans bring up “traditional” values, it’s a safe bet that the speaker is a hypocritical slimeball. Case in point, Newt Gingrich showed up on Fox News Saturday to commiserate with Jeanine Pirro on how dreadfully amoral they think Democrats are. For the record, that’s the thrice-married Trump-fluffer Gingrich, and the divorced tax cheat and “Big Lie” peddler Pirro, opining on other peoples morals.

During the segment Gingrich delivered an extended sermon asserting his predictably hostile perspective on President Biden. It will surprise no one that Gingrich is a political foe of all things Democratic, however this particular outburst was even more malicious and dishonest than his usual bombast.

Gingrich began with an ad hominin insult about “Every idiotic thing that the Biden administration has done in the first 100 days,” but then failed to identify a single thing that would qualify as being “idiotic.” His elaboration just got even more distant from reality:

“You begin to realize – whether it’s threatening everybody who believes in the 2nd Amendment, or attacking everybody who believes in right to life, or is attacking people of traditional values who are appalled that this administration would fly the gay flag at American embassies all over the world – I mean you just go down, item by item, and it’s almost like they have a checklist of what can we do that will really, truly infuriate traditional Americans.

And I’ve never seen anything like it. Somebody asked me this afternoon and I told them I couldn’t imagine any administration which had been this deliberately anti-American, and this deliberately committed to infuriating the majority of the American people.”

Gingrich is articulating a definition of “traditional values” that is composed entirely of support for mass murder by unregulated firearms, opposition to women having control of their own bodies, and a firm commitment to blatant homophobia. Which makes his value system one of gun worshiping, misogynism, bigotry. That may be consistent with right-wing, religious zealotry, but not with the values enshrined in the Constitution.

What’s more, Gingrich’s assertion that Biden’s positions are “anti-America” is downright preposterous. And he knows it. He is enough of a political animal to have seen the polling on the issues he raised. And on every one of them, the American people are aligned with Biden and the Democrats.

Gun Safety: “Sixty-four percent of registered voters said in the Morning Consult-Politico tracking poll released Wednesday that they supported ‘stricter gun control laws in the United States,’ while 28 percent said they were opposed to tougher legislation.” [Also supported: Expanding background checks to all gun sales (83%); preventing people flagged by health providers as mentally unstable from owning guns (83%); banning people on federal watchlists from owning guns (76%); waiting periods of three days (73%); and national database of gun sales (70%)]

Pro-Choice: “Abortion rights in the U.S. are as popular now as they’ve ever been. Last year, nearly every major poll on abortion rights found support for Roe v. Wade at record highs. A June CBS poll found that nearly two-thirds of Americans want to keep Roe v. Wade’s protections in place, while less than one-third want to overturn them. It wasn’t just Democrats: A strong majority of independents and a plurality of Republicans said they wanted to keep Roe v. Wade around, too.”

LGBTQ Rights: “Seventy percent of Americans support same-sex marriage, according to the 11th annual American Values Survey, the highest percentage recorded by a major national poll. […] Approval crossed the political divide, with majorities of Democrats (80 percent) and independents (76 percent) supporting same-sex marriage, and 50 percent of Republicans.”

Consequently, if anyone is anti-American it’s Gingrich and his GOP confederates. They are consistently opposed to the priorities of the American people. Every Republican in Congress just voted against the broadly popular COVID relief/stimulus bill. And they are set to do the same to the infrastructure/jobs bill that just passed in the House. They are rejecting these bills on purely political grounds, even though majorities of their own constituents support them. That’s about as anti-American as you can get. Talk about “infuriating the majority of the American people.”

UPDATE: Also trolling the “anti-American” theme is Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo. She posted this glaringly ignorant tweet suggesting that Biden’s patriotism is suspect because there wasn’t an American flag behind him in his climate change Zoom summit with world leaders. She mistakenly said that…

“By the way, in that shot I think it’s also really interesting to point out that President Biden is the only leader without a flag behind him. Everybody has their flag. We don’t have the American flag behind Joe Biden. Interesting.”

Um, yes we do. It was just the angle and framing of the video. So much for Fox “news” research and reporting.

Racist Fox News ‘Comedian’ Bashes Biden for Promoting Inclusive Education

A few weeks ago Fox News debuted a nightly, primetime program that they thought would compete with Stephen Colbert or Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. Because what could be better suited for an alleged “news” network that is widely viewed as a joke? “Gutfeld!” landed with a thud as it’s brand of comedy was both mean-spirited and childish.

The program has only gone downhill from there. Its host and guests appear to be devoted to lowbrow “humor” that callously attacks the underprivileged from the comfort of their ivory tower. Their most recent episode featured such specimens of hilarity as these swipes at President Biden (video below, if you have the stomach for it):

“He’s not sure if he is [President]. They installed the Waze app on his phone so he could find the west wing.” [and…]

“The only thing middle of the road about Joe is his hair, which resembles a crushed squirrel.” [and…]

“It’s only April and he’s swallowed more anti-American crap than Michael Moore’s septic tank.”

Comedy gold, isn’t it? Gutfeld began by maligning Biden’s mental acuity, something that the American people already assessed as superior to Donald Trump. Then he segued to a slam on Biden’s hair. Seriously! And naturally he winds up in the sewer, where Fox News and Republicans customarily reside.

However, the central focus of the segment was education. Gutfeld was appalled that the Biden administration is supportive of Critical Race Theory (that Trump tried to eliminate), and is pursuing an agenda that seeks to “incorporate teaching and learning practices that reflect the diversity, identities, histories, contributions, and experiences of all students.” Gutfeld condemned that noble and inclusive initiative saying that “it’s not an education they’re after, but indoctrination.” Indeed. You certainly don’t want to poison children’s minds with the notion that America benefited from its diversity.

As usual, Gutfeld is deploying a frequently used Republican propaganda tactic wherein they accuse their foes of what they are doing themselves. It was Trump who created a “1776 Commission” whose purpose was to indoctrinate children with what he called “Patriotic Education.” It was his reaction to the widely praised “1619 Project” that aimed to make America’s historical curriculum more racially inclusive and accurate.

Thankfully, Biden revoked the report produced by Trump’s flagrantly biased commission. That commission and its report had already been rejected by historians as political propaganda. What’s more, Trump’s task farce had notable beginnings as Vladimir Putin’s “Patriotic Education” amendments to Russia’s education laws. So once again, Trump was taking direction from his mentor/boss. And Fox News is regurgitating it whole.

WUT? Fox News Hypocrite Kayleigh McEnany Says ‘President Should Not Inflame Tensions’

The hypocrisy dial on Fox News has once again been turned up to eleven. On the morning of the day that a jury convicted Derek Chauvin for the death of George Floyd, talking heads on Fox News were struggling to find ways to divert attention from the trial to some contrived “offense” committed by President Joe Biden. It’s an obsession with these professional propagandists.

During a segment on Fox’s “Outnumbered,” their newest co-host, Kayleigh McEnany (Donald Trump’s former press secretary) took the lead in the Biden bashing. Her angle centered on remarks that Biden made regarding the Chauvin prosecution. “I’m praying the verdict is the right verdict,” Biden said, “which is — I think it’s overwhelming, in my view.”

Biden’s comments came following his phone call with members of the Floyd family, As Biden explicitly noted, he would not have commented publicly but for the fact that the jury had already been sequestered and could not be influenced. He also relayed the hopes of the family for “peace and tranquility” regardless of what the verdict was. It was a responsible and sensitive moment during a difficult time the family and the nation. McEnany, however, managed to find fault with Biden’s words

“We heard Judge Cahill go on to caution election officials and say ‘I urge you not to weigh in,’ hours before, half a day before the President himself weighed in. Look, I’m at least glad that he waited until the jury was sequestered, but I think that the country is such a tinderbox right now. Especially Minneapolis. There’s so much hurt, so much pain. And I think it’s the role of the President of the United States to stay back, to not inflame the tensions.”

Really? McEnany, who served as Trump’s White House mouthpiece, appears to be pretending that she never heard him speak. However, she was one of the most strident peddlers of the “Big Lie” that Trump was the real winner of the 2020 presidential election; that his victory was “stolen” from him; and that rampant fraud was committed by Democrats and the media. From election day until Biden’s inauguration she and Trump and most of the Republican Party and right-wing press were deliberately “inflaming the tensions” that led to the deadly Capitol insurrection on January 6th. But now she’s appalled by Biden’s compassionate comments about his conversation with the Floyd family.

It’s also notable that Trump notoriously weighed in on numerous trials wherein he lambasted everyone involved, including the judges and the juries. For instance, he went after the jury forewoman in the case that convicted Roger Stone, who Trump later pardoned. He attacked the judge in a case dealing with his fraudulent “university,” complaining that he could not possibly be unbiased because of his Mexican heritage. Trump also intervened on behalf of a Navy Seal charged with war crimes. And Trump has repeatedly attacked Supreme Court Justices. He once called for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to resign saying that “her mind is shot.”

McEnany’s hypocrisy didn’t end there. She went on to briefly commend Biden for calling the Floyd family, but felt compelled to append praise for Trump for having allegedly done the same thing. However, in reality it wasn’t the same at all. Reports at the time reveal that Trump was less than sympathetic:

“According to Floyd’s brother, Philonise Floyd, the conversation did not go well, as he said Trump gave him little chance to express his views and appeared to have no interest in what he was trying to say.

“‘He didn’t give me an opportunity to even speak,’ Floyd told MSNBC on Saturday. ‘It was hard. I was trying to talk to him, but he just kept, like, pushing me off, like ‘I don’t want to hear what you’re talking about.’”

When McEnany acknowledges that no one has been more disparaging of the judicial process than
Trump – when she can admit that Trump was the prime instigator of the riots in Washington, D.C. – and accepts responsibility herself – then she might be able to criticize Biden. Until then she should keep her mouth shut on this subject. Her opinion is hardly credible when it comes to inflamed tensions.

Trump’s Ignorance and Ego is Displayed in Loopy Lovefest With Hannity on Fox News

Three months after being banished from the White House, Donald Trump has finally emerged from his Mar-a-Lago bunker for his first on-camera interview. Naturally, he canoodled with his long-time love interest, Sean Hannity on Fox News. Hannity was typically starry-eyed as he lavished praise on Trump as “working harder than ever” [on what?] and lobbed childish insults at President Biden.

As has been the case with every other interview of Trump on Fox News, there was nothing newsworthy revealed. The questions were embarrassingly ingratiating and Trump’s replies were tedious regurgitations of his signature blend of whining and bragging (video below). “You’re gonna have the biggest tax increase you’ve ever seen,” Trump babbled. “Pro-life, second amendment, so many different things,” he insisted. But apparently he could only think of two. Then he segued to this mangling of history – and reality:

“Look, we got 75 million votes. That’s more than any sitting president in history by far. The word was that if we got 65 to 66 – we got 63 the first time and won. If you got 65 to 66 there was no way you lost. We got more votes – we got twelve million more votes than we got – and it’s never happened to another president.

“I don’t know if you know Sean, usually in a second term a president gets less votes. I got twelve million more. It’s the biggest that’s ever happened in history. From 63 to 75. Never happened before.”

Trump’s fascination with the election results is rooted in his desperate need to elevate his pitifully losing legacy. There is no truth – or coherence – to Trump’s assertion that “there was no way you lost” if you got 65 million votes. He obviously doesn’t grasp that the population of the country, and hence the potential vote count, is constantly increasing.

But even worse is his claim that no president has ever gotten more votes for a second term, or that his totals were “the biggest that’s ever happened in history.” For the record, every two-term president but one got more votes for their second term for the past half century:

Trump was not only lying about being the sole recipient of more votes for his second term, he also inflated the number of additional votes from about eight million to twelve million. And, of course, he completely erased the fact that Biden bested him by seven million votes (81,268,924). Biden’s enduring popularity is literally driving the right crazy.

Meanwhile, Trump continues to believe that he’s beloved by massive majorities of imaginary Americans. He thinks that he and his “Make America Great Again” agenda is essential for victories in 2022 and 2024, despite the losses of the White House and the Senate in 2020. What he still hasn’t absorbed is the reality that he lost the popular vote twice, never reached 50% approval in four years, was impeached twice, and remains the least popular president in history. But other than that, he’s real winner.

Biden’s Popularity is Driving Fox News Crazy, Reporting Insane Distortions of Polls

As President Joe Biden approaches the 100 day mark of his presidency, his critics at Fox News are struggling to find anything coherent to complain about. That’s a profound failure coming from the network whose CEO, Lachlan Murdoch, publicly declared that the network’s “job” is to be “the opposition” to the Biden administration. Apparently they are doing a lousy job.

Consequently, Fox News has had to resort to petty and embarrassing contrivances and manufactured “scandals” involving such political luminaries as Dr. Seuss and Mr. Potato Head. Yet somehow, these tactics haven’t produced the avalanche of anti-Biden sentiment that Fox News hoped for. As a result, the right-wing propagandists at Fox are attempting to misinterpret the mostly positive polling that Biden has enjoyed. Monday morning Fox contributor Liz Peek reported that…

“They want us to believe that Biden’s progressive juggernaut is wildly popular, and that the president’s obvious inadequacies are a figment of right-wing imagination. They want us to think that common-sense Americans are OK with having our schools closed and our borders open, that we are on board with declaring our country racist and allowing riots to wreck our cities. They want us to believe that Biden is way more successful – already – than President Trump ever was. It is not true. None of it.”

For the record, literally everything in that paragraph is a lie. No Democrat has ever suggested that closed schools are OK. Nor have they ever advocated for open borders. Nor have they declared the country racist (just the cretins like Tucker Carlson who are proudly racist and those who deny that it ever existed). And certainly no Democrat has ever supported “allowing riots to wreck our cities.”

However, Peek’s reference to Biden being “way more successful – already – than President Trump ever was” is demonstrably true. In four years Trump has nothing substantive to show for himself. He failed at everything that he defined as his top priorities. His border wall was never completed or paid for by Mexico. He didn’t eliminate the national debt. He never brought jobs back from foreign countries, but he did lose more of them than any president in modern times. And he presided over the loss of more than half a million America lives due to his negligence and incompetence. His only “accomplishment” was the passage of a tax bill that overwhelmingly benefited corporations and his wealthy pals.

Biden, on the other hand, ushered through a two trillion dollar pandemic relief and stimulus plan. He rejoined the Paris Climate Accords. He signed numerous executive orders reversing much of the damage done by Trump. He is advancing historic infrastructure legislation. He’s moving forward expeditiously on reforms for immigration, gun safety, and voting rights. And he effectively managed COVID vaccine programs that have already resulted in 30% the country being fully vaccinated.

To support her flawed analysis that Biden is broadly unpopular, Peek cited a Gallup poll that found that only “32% of the nation is “satisfied” with the way things are going, while 67% is dissatisfied.” What she left out was that the same poll showed only 11% satisfied at the end of Trump’s term three months ago. All this proves is that Americans are notoriously unsatisfied, but that Biden produced a 21 point increase in short order.

Further distorting reality, Peek cherry-picked a poll that shows Biden with a plurality approval of 48%, which is pretty good in these divisive times. But then she spins it negatively because the “strongly approve” number is only 34%, which is still pretty good. She neglects to note that many other polls show Biden’s approval comfortably above 50% and as high as 61%. And his policies – including on the economy, jobs, terrorism, immigration, and COVID-19 – are similarly favored by significant majorities.

Interestingly, Peek notes that a majority of Biden voters said they were voting against Trump rather than for Biden. That’s nice of her to concede that Trump is widely despised. She also pointed out that voters approve of Biden’s jobs plan, but only if it’s paid for “through higher corporate taxes or hiking taxes on high earners.” Which is another helpful concession on her part that Trump’s tax scam was a disaster, and that the nation wants the rich to pay their fair share.

In the end, after dismissing the obvious distortions and lies, Fox’s analysis is fairly positive for Biden. That’s how difficult it’s been for them to land a punch against this President, even in spite of all the dishonesty they pack into the effort. If they were smart they would back off until there’s a realistic issue to whine about. Something will always come up. But the operative word there is “smart,” which may be too high a bar for anyone at Fox News.

Jen Psaki Schools Newsmax Shill on the History of Systemic Racism in America

There really needs to be more stringent criteria for who is granted press credentials in the White House Briefing Room. Without some standard for experience and professionalism you wind up making Press Secretary Jen Psaki waste time with questions that are nothing more than pre-scripted, fact-averse hit pieces.

Friday morning provided a perfect example of this “gotcha-ism” when Psaki was confronted by the new White House correspondent for Newsmax, Emerald Robinson. She recently joined Newsmax after her stint at One America News Network (OANN). So her journalism pedigree is pitifully lacking in journalistic integrity. Robinson sought to corner Psaki with a loaded question that totally warped reality:

“The U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Linda Thomas-Greenfield, talking on Wednesday said that essentially white supremacy is woven into our founding documents and principles. The statement is getting widely criticized as essentially parroting Chinese Communist Party talking point. So is the President going to remove her from her position as the representative before that body?”

The first thing you might notice is that Robinson is painfully ignorant about American history and the nation’s founding documents. Most Americans know that the this country’s originating “principles” permitted slavery and that the Constitution counted African slaves as three-fifths of person. There was also a little thing called the “Civil War” that addressed racial issues in America. And even today’s headlines are filled with examples of the systemic racism that persists.

In addition to those glaring omissions, Robinson also revealed her rookie reporting skills by trying to give her question more credibility by asserting that the Ambassador’s comments were “widely criticized.” By whom? Her bosses at Newsmax? The Republicans she shills for? Capitol insurrections out on bail?

What’s more, it is patently absurd to associate the remarks by Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield with the Chinese Communist Party. Just because a foreign adversary says something similar to an American diplomat doesn’t mean it isn’t true. If a Chinese diplomat criticized America’s early racial bigotry, they would have been stating something that is unarguably true. In fact, it would still be true if they said it today. Psaki had a quick retort that should have put the matter to rest:

“Is POTUS going to remove an African-American woman with decades of experience in the foreign service who’s widely respected around the world from her position as Ambassador to the U.N.? He’s not. He is proud to have her in that position. She is not only qualified, he believes she is exactly the right person in that role in this moment in time.

“I have not seen her comments. I will say that there is no question that there has been a history of institutional racism in this country, and that doesn’t require the U.N. Ambassador to confirm that.”

Unfortunately, Robinson wasn’t satisfied and persisted with her ludicrous line of questions to ask “does the President think our founding documents are racist?” Psaki declined to dignify the inquiry further, saying simply that “most people recognize the history of systemic racism in our country.” And if Robinson needs any additional evidence of American racism, all she has to do is watch her network and note the rampant racism that emanates from its programs every hour of every day.

Early on the Biden administration expressed its intent to manage press relations in a manner that would be starkly different from the hostile work environment fostered by Donald Trump. There would be no more barking at reporters and insulting them as “enemies of the people.” Biden “promised not to allow outlets to use the briefings to spread baseless conspiracies,” and vowed that “Organizations or individuals who traffic in conspiracy theories, propaganda and lies to spread disinformation will not be tolerated.”

It’s time to make good on those promises. There is no way that Newsmax should be entitled to a White House press pass. They don’t conduct responsible, honest journalism. And they don’t aspire to professional standards of ethics. They are unabashed purveyors of propaganda who seek only to malign their ideological foes and advance the ultra-rightists for whom they work. And by the way, all of that applies equally as well to Fox News.

Trump Excretes An Utterly Delusional and Paranoid Rant About ‘His’ COVID Vaccines

The Former Guy is at it again. Donald Trump is putting out press releases in lieu of tweets since his banishment from Twitter. He is said to prefer his exile because he thinks these press releases are more eloquent. And besides, he’s plotting his return to social media with his own branded alternative: Qwitter?

In the meantime, Trump has just posted one of his “eloquent” press releases (see below) lashing out at President Biden because the FDA and the CDC have temporarily paused distribution of the Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine. The action was taken “out of an abundance of caution” due to reports of rare incidents of blood clots affecting literally less than one in a million people.

Trump’s commentary was a typically incoherent run-on paragraph overflowing with hostility directed outward at others and affinity directed inward at himself. He began by saying that…

“The Biden administration did a terrible disservice to people throughout the world by allowing the FDA and the CDC to call a ‘pause’ in the use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.”

First of all, Biden didn’t do this at all. Unlike Trump, the Biden administration treats the FDA and CDC as independent health authorities acting in the service of science, rather than an egomaniacal occupant of the White House. Trump continued saying that…

“The results of this vaccine have been extraordinary but now its reputation will be permanently challenged. The people who have already taken the vaccine will be up in arms, and perhaps all of this was done for politics or perhaps it’s the FDA’s love for Pfizer. The FDA, especially with long-time bureaucrats within, has to be controlled, They should not be able to do such damage for possibly political reasons, or maybe because their friends at Pfizer have suggested it. They’ll do things like this to make themselves look important.”

Trump is purposefully trying to alarm people and get them to become “up in arms” because he thrives on fomenting fear and division. His ludicrous assertion that the FDA “has to be controlled” is just the sort of idiocy that resulted in more than half a million Americans dying of COVID on his watch. And his determination to make everything political is further evidence of his inability to grasp the severity of the pandemic and the need for competent leadership. But Trump still wasn’t through making an ass of himself:

“Remember, it was the FDA working with Pfizer, who announced the vaccine approval two days after the 2020 Presidential Election. They didn’t like me very much because I pushed them extremely hard. But if I didn’t, you wouldn’t have a vaccine for 3-5 years, or maybe not at all. It takes them years to act! Do your testing, clean up the record, and get the Johnson & Johnson vaccine back online quickly. The only way we defeat the China Virus is with our great vaccines!”

Paranoia strikes deep! Trump is still trying to peddle the bizarre conspiracy theory that Pfizer and all the health experts throughout the world were aligned against him. He may be right that he is widely disliked, but that’s only because he’s a narcissistic sociopath who has created unimaginable suffering and loss. And he had little to do with the development of the vaccines that he is now claiming credit for. Pfizer didn’t even participate in his vaunted “Operation Warp Speed.”

Ironically, Trump’s Tuesday tirade may serve to get more people vaccinated. He is finally advocating for vaccinations, despite his having downplayed them in the past and received his own in secret. But he still couldn’t resist taking another racist swing at Asian-Americans with his derogatory “China virus” epithet. But then, it wouldn’t be Trump if he wasn’t being offensive, obnoxious, and infantile.
