Donald Trump is a one man crime syndicate who currently has 91 felony counts pending in four criminal indictments. The charges against him range from paying hush money to a porn star, to falsifying business records, to unlawful possession of classified documents, to obstruction of justice, to election interference, to inciting an insurrection, and so much more.

Donald Trump Circling the Drain

This is an unprecedented display of depravity that more closely resembles the behavior of an inept mob boss than a former president. And it is more than just a legal calamity for Trump. It is an embarrassment to the Republican Party and his cohorts in Congress who still support him and his criminal conduct, and upon whom he is relying for salvation.

Consequently, it should come as no surprise that Trump’s Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, is mired in the same sort of criminal controversies that have followed Trump for decades. And now it is suffering yet another setback as it barrels toward bankruptcy. According to reports…

“The funding partner for Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) said that it will return the remaining $533 million of the $1 billion raised to finance the venture after investors canceled $467 million of commitments.” […]

“The loss of funding for DWAC [Digital World Acquisition Corp.] appears to be a step backward for the prospective merger between the company and Trump’s media outfit, which runs Truth Social.” […]

“With the loss of the funding, it’s unclear how Trump’s media group, called Trump Media & Technology Group, would finance its operations after the merger. The plan was that DWAC would provide TMTG with a deep pool of funds after the merger was completed.”

TMTG’s CEO, former GOP congressman Devin Nunes, inexplicably called the fund forfeiture “an important step towards…completing our merger,” However, he didn’t bother to explain how the loss of nearly a billion dollars in financing would lead to that end, or how it would benefit shareholders.

For some background, shortly after Truth Social was launched it was tied to DWAC, a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). The law prohibits SPACs from discussing potential acquisition targets prior to their formation. But laws have never been an impediment to grifters in Trump World. The stock immediately ran up to $175.00, which is where the now indicted investors bailed out with huge gains. The stock now sits at about $15.00.

There are good reasons for the stock’s abysmal performance. The whole enterprise is a sham that can’t grow its user base or attract advertising. Meanwhile, the reputation for illegal activity on Trump’s part has been evident in the affairs of his Truth Social disease. What follows are a just a few of the licentious legal landmarks for the illicit enterprise:

Trump Crime Syndicate: Investors Arrested for Insider Trading in Failing Truth Social Scam
Trump’s associates in his truthless, anti-social media venture were arrested and charged with insider trading. Reports indicate that “the three individuals together made more than $22 million in illegal profits.”

Trump Files Ludicrous Lawsuit Against the Washington Post for Defaming His Truth Social Scam
Trump has no basis for this suit. For one thing, he is constantly claiming that his Pravda Social is a massive success, greatly eclipsing Twitter. Also, it’s hard to defame a business that began as a fraud and went downhill from there.

Trump’s Truth Social CEO Whines that Shareholders in His Alt-Twitter Scam Are Being Wiped Out
Nunes visited Newsmax to swing open his tear ducts with mournful moaning about the catastrophic business for which he is the chief executive.

Trump Made Less than $200 on Truth Social According to His FEC Financial Disclosure
As for Trump, he was reported to own 90% of TMTG, which earned him less than $200 according to his financial disclosure. That’s hardly representative of the huge success that Trump has claimed Truth Social to be.

Trump’s ‘Truth Social’ Faces Legal and Financial Turmoil Amid Disclosures of Russian Funding
The report notes that the sources of the funding include the off-shore Paxum Bank, based in the Caribbean island nation, Dominica. It is notorious for “providing banking services for the pornography and sex worker industries, which makes it higher risk of engaging in money laundering and other illicit financing.”

Truth Social Disease: Ads on Trump’s Twitter Ripoff are Mostly Scams and Trump-Fluffing Merch
Advertisers are afraid of their ads being juxtaposed with hate speech and other noxious content. Consequently, the only advertisers who are willing to shell out are sketchy scammers, conspiracy theorists, and junk peddlers.

LOCK HIM UP: Trump’s TRUTH Social Scam is Being Criminally Investigated By a Federal Grand Jury
In addition to the Grand Jury proceedings, the SEC is investigating whether TMTG and DWAC executives improperly coordinated with each other and engaged in insider trading. They have also partnered with a Chinese firm with a dubious legal past.

As a bonus, it turns out that Trump bailed on his crooked company just weeks before subpoenas were served. He removed himself and Don Jr from the board of TMTG and is no longer named as the company’s chairman. What’s more, DWAC agreed to a settlement with the SEC that includes a finding that the company violated anti-fraud laws and will require them to pay an $18 million civil penalty when/if the deal closes. And signaling deeper problems with the SPAC’s finances, its auditor has resigned.

This is par for the course for Trump, whose businesses have a habit of failing after he and a few insiders enrich themselves before the predictable collapse. But anyone investing in a Trump enterprise shouldn’t complain when they go belly up. They should know by now that he is a scam artist who is focused solely on his welfare. And if they don’t see it, it’s because they don’t want to. That’s how cults work.

In the week since Hamas launched its terrorist attack on Israel, Donald Trump has managed to take positions that alternately praised the terrorists as “smart” and insulted President Biden as complicit with the terrorists. It has been the sort of typically incoherent, self-serving ramblings that characterize Trump’s anti-American brand of asininity.

However, not content with merely disparaging America, alienating our allies, and emboldening our enemies, Trump has also been directing his diatribes toward our fellow citizens here at home. On Friday Trump posted a video on his failing social media scam, Truth Social, wherein he sought to frighten his cult disciples with nightmarish tales of an impending doom that only he can save them from. Which is a deranged decree that he has delivered many times before.

In Trump’s latest video he outdid himself with brazenly bald-faced lies. And the fact that he was exploiting the tragic suffering and loss in Israel for his egomaniacal glorification makes it all the more repulsive. Here is what he said with all the sincerity and credibility of a poison-laced snake oil salesman…

“The same people that raided Israel are pouring into our once beautiful USA through our totally open southern border at record numbers. These are the same people, many of them, that did a number in Israel, a sneak attack. Same people we have pouring into our country by the thousands. Are they planning to attack within our country?

“Crooked Joe Biden and his boss Barack Hussein Obama did this to us. We cannot let this happen. They may be planning something very very bad. Don’t forget, I’m not making this as a prediction. But there’s a phrase out there: Trump was right about everything. We have to be very careful. I don’t want to be right about this. But people are pouring in from the Middle East into our country, largely males, strong young males. What’s going on over here? Are we going to be raided like Israel was raided?”

Needless to say, not a single word of that bears the slightest resemblance to reality. It is entirely intended to stoke the most severe fears and anxieties of the glassy-eyed cultists who worship him. There have been exactly zero Hamas, or any other Middle East terrorists, crossing our Southern border, which is most definitely not open.

What’s more, Trump’s frequent assertion that Obama is controlling Biden is just a manifestation of an obsession that continues to occupy his feeble brain seven years after Obama left office. And his repetitive warnings of an attack by imaginary Muslim terror cells is only going to fuel further prejudice and potential violence against innocent people.

For the record, PolitiFact addressed these remarks by Trump and found them to be “Pants on Fire” level lies…

“Terrorism experts told us that there is no evidence that Hamas, a terrorist group in Gaza, has militants crossing the Mexico-U.S. border, much less in record numbers. And a DHS spokesperson said there is no credible intelligence to signal a threat to the U.S. from Hamas.”

Furthermore, PolitiFact’s analysis of Trump’s statements over time reveal that 75% of them have been determined to be “Mostly False” “False,” or “Pants on Fire.” To anyone who has been paying attention for the past several years, that won’t come as much of a surprise. But it is nevertheless alarming that such a grotesquely dishonest, sociopathic, aspiring authoritarian is still leading the Republican Party’s race for their 2024 presidential nomination. It says all you need to know about today’s GOP, that can’t even manage to elect a Speaker of the House.

WTF? Fox News Hosts Argue to End Trump Prosecutions Because of – Hamas Terrorism in Israel?

That assault predictably led to the Israeli Defense Forces mounting a campaign to root out the perpetrators and to prevent further hostilities against innocent citizens from many countries, including the United States. It was the commencement of a conflagration that will likely produce even more tragic casualties.

Here at home, the ultra-rightist propaganda machine we know as Fox News set out to relieve the Hamas terrorists from responsibility and instead assign blame to President Biden and, more broadly, to America. The “Blame America First” brigade manufactured wholly dishonest allegations that the Biden administration was somehow responsible for the attack. Donald Trump was among the anti-America crowd with his preposterous assertion that “American taxpayer dollars helped fund these attacks, which many reports are saying came from the Biden Administration.” It is smear campaign so ridiculous that even a Fox News reporter shot it down.

Undeterred by facts or reason, shills at Fox News have escalated their traitorous tirades. And having apparently run out of their garden variety garbage, they are now stirring up cocktails of crackpottery that are absurd even by their screwball standards.

On Tuesday night’s episode of Laura Ingraham’s program, she endeavored to combine two subjects that couldn’t be farther apart. In a segment wherein she criticized President Biden for daring to speak eloquently about America’s commitment to Israel and our rejection of hate groups here at home, Ingraham spit out a puzzling and perverse argument on behalf of her Dear Leader Trump…

Biden (on video): Let’s be real clear. There is no place for hate in America.
Ingraham: Okay. Well, if he’s really against hate, then he should call a prosecutorial cease-fire against his political adversaries like the former president, and direct his DOJ and DHS to stop making conservative Americans feel like they are the enemy or like they’re the violent extremists out there.

HUH? What does Biden’s message opposing hate have to do with the prosecution of Trump on 91 felony counts for which there is abundant evidence of his guilt? Her use of the terms of war (i.e. “cease fire”) are deliberate attempts to inflame irrational outrage on the part of her cult viewers. And the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security are doing their jobs to protect Americans and hold violent lawbreakers, including Trump, accountable.

What’s more, Biden has been acting ethically in office by not interfering with the administration of justice, which Ingraham is now imploring him to do. That sort of interference and abuse of power is what Trump has explicitly promised to do if he were to be reelected. But it is contrary to the principles of law that have governed this nation since its founding.

In addition to Ingraham, Fox’s Mark Levin likewise conflated Trump’s legal tribulations with the terrorism in the Middle East. Levin made the following comments on his program, which Trump promptly quoted on his failing social media scam, Truth Social…

“Meanwhile, this lowlife, Jack Smith, and his master, the lowlife attorney general, continue their fascistic campaign against Trump, even now, as it becomes crystal clear to more and more Americans that Trump brought historic peace to the Middle East while the regime has blown it up and betrayed the Israelis.”

That comment is wrong on so many levels. First of all, Trump is hiding behind Levin’s words to avoid – he thinks – being found in contempt of court for violating the order to refrain from disparaging the court’s officers. Secondly, he still has no idea what “fascism” means. Third, he is quite obviously lying about having “brought peace to the Middle East.” He is also lying about Biden having “betrayed the Israelis,” who have been profusely expressing their gratitude to Biden and America for their unwavering support.

Of course, both Levin and Ingraham are making no sense at all with their juxtaposition of Trump’s legal problems with the Hamas attacks. But then, when have the brazenly biased attacks by Fox News ever made any sense? That isn’t even their purpose. The only objective of the mostly incomprehensible commentaries on Fox News is to enrage their audience and incite hostilities toward Democrats. And that doesn’t require logic or facts or anything resembling reality.

While Fox News Bashes Biden on Israel, Netanyahu Thanks Him for His ‘Incredible Support’

Naturally, The GOP’s Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News, is at the forefront of disseminating lies and deliberate disinformation in pursuit of their partisan political goals. They would rather engage in smear campaigns against their domestic electoral foes, than to stand up for their international allies who are suffering a torrent of savagery. Consequently, the narrative at Fox News is that this is all somehow President Biden’s fault. It’s such a ridiculous proposition that Fox News can’t even sustain it…

To no one’s surprise, Donald Trump is thoroughly bought into the “Blame America First” brigade. And on Wednesday he gave a speech wherein praised the terrorists who are massacring innocent Israelis, and turned his wrath on our Israeli allies, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who Trump may have been angry with for showing solidarity with Biden.

Trump’s tirade led to the Israeli Communications Minister, Shlomo Karhi, responding to say that it is “shameful that a man like that, a former US president, abets propaganda and disseminates things that wound the spirit of Israel’s fighters and its citizens. We don’t have to bother with him and the nonsense he spouts.” And Netanyahu expressed his unreserved gratitude to America in general, and Biden in particular, in a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, saying…

“Mr. Secretary. My good friend, Tony. Thank you, thank President Biden, and thank you to the American people for your incredible support for Israel in our war against the barbarians of Hamas.”

It’s notable that Fox News covered that part of the Blinken/Netanyahu summit. But rest assured that it will not likely be repeated on their primetime Trump-fluffing programs. Nor will they air Netanyahu embracing Biden’s support and praising America “for standing with Israel today, tomorrow, and always.”

Much of Fox’s coverage of the Hamas crusade against Israel seeks to preposterously accuse Biden of providing the financing for it. They cite a recent prisoner swap agreement with Iran wherein the U.S. relaxed sanctions of $6 billion of Iranian money that was frozen in South Korean banks. None of that money, however, would go to the Iranian regime. It was to be held in Qatar and used only for verified humanitarian purposes that would have to be approved by the U.S. And now even that usage has been suspended.

What’s more, Fox News further sought to blame Biden for what they called the “lack of Senate confirmed elected officials” in foreign policy and military positions. However, Fox didn’t bother to mention that those vacancies were due to Senate Republicans obstructing the confirmation of nominees that the White House had already put forward.

It’s profoundly damaging to the national security interests of the United States for Republicans and Fox News to be so brazenly disparaging of America and its allies during a time of crisis. But that’s where we are now as the MAGA GOP exerts their unsavory influences on the nation via their MAGA media outlets. It’s just further proof that they care more about their political prospects than they do about their fellow American, or the country, or the world.

Flaming Trump

In the immediate aftermath of the savage attacks on innocent civilians, including children, Donald Trump and his MAGA Republican confederates sought to shift responsibility from the perpetrators of the inhumane brutality, to President Biden. They have engaged in a flagrantly dishonest and disgusting campaign to “Blame America First” in an effort to gain some paltry political advantage.

True to form, Trump keeps making matters worse with every comment in the media or post on his pitifully failing social media scam, Truth Social. Case in point, on Tuesday Trump posted his declaration that…

“I KEPT ISRAEL SAFE! NOBODY ELSE WILL, NOBODY ELSE CAN, AND I KNOW ALL OF THE PLAYERS!!!”

This is just the latest expression by Trump of his perception of himself as a holy figure with powers greater than mere mortals. He has previously declared that he alone can “bring peace to the World!” He also recently boasted that he is “stand[ing] up to the evil and demonic forces that want to destroy our country.” Now he is Israel’s savior and he claims to “know all the players.” Really? Even those in Hamas? All of which is consistent with the delusions of someone who once proclaimed to reporters that “I am the chosen one.”

These are the mad ravings of a wannabe messiah who yearns for the sort of devotion that is showered onto cult leaders. And when he isn’t elevating himself to sainthood, he is condemning his perceived enemies as heathens from the depths of hell.

More often than not, that disparagement is aimed at President Biden. Trump is now lying to his disciples that Biden used “American taxpayer dollars [to] fund these attacks” in Israel. He asserted what he falsely called “Biden’s ineptitude, weakness, and incompetence [that] has led to this horrible attack.” And like every bad thing that ever happens, he insists that it “WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED IF I WERE PRESIDENT.”

Trump is also fomenting imaginary fears that “The same people that raided Israel are pouring into our once beautiful USA.” So Trump is now claiming, without and proof whatsoever, that Hamas is “pouring into” the U.S. And all of this is at the behest of “his BOSS, Barack Hussein Obama!”

For additional evidence of Trump’s nightmarish hallucinatory dementia – not that any more evidence is necessary – Trump also posted a harangue aimed at some of his fellow Republicans who have dared to withhold their pledge of blind loyalty to him. He posted a comment whining that…

“The problem with so many in our Party, they go after the people who are on their side, rather than the Radical Left Democrats.”

This was in response to a report that a few of his challengers are gathering at a summit in Utah. What makes this hysterically absurd is that that same post began with Trump saying…

“I understand Candidates that are losing by 57 to 70 Points are getting together with RINO Paul RINO, Mitt “The Loser” Romney, Bill “No Guts or Talent” Barr, and some broken political ‘investors'”

Needless to say, no one more viciously attacks Republicans that Trump. This comment displays it in a single post. However, he has previously called the GOP minority leader in the Senate “Old Crow” Mitch McConnell, and his wife “Coco Chow.” During the January 6th insurrection, he blasted Kevin McCarthy saying, “I guess these people are more upset about the election than you are.” He viciously attacks his Republican challengers in the GOP presidential primary with childish nicknames such as “Ron DeSanctimonious,” “Sloppy Chris Christie,” “Bird Brain” Nikki Haley,” and “Liddle'” Mike Pence.” And he even threatened those he deems “weak” Republicans, saying that “we will put them all in jail where they belong.”

Well, that’s actually not a bad idea. However, we should start with those who already have multiple pending criminal indictments, such as Donald Trump.

Fox News Floats Inane Theory that Every Democrat Would Vote for Trump for House Speaker

In the continuing soap opera that is the Republican Party in the House of Representatives, the aftermath of the ouster of Squeaker McCarthy has ignited a firestorm of intramural fury within the GOP. They have commenced their circular firing squads and set a near certain course for the minority in 2024.

The animosity between the establishment McCarthy supporters and the MAGA fringe faction is boiling over. The latter regard the former as RINOs, and the former regard the latter as traitors. Even as McCarthy has begun to walk back his promise not to seek a return to the speakership, his minions are reportedly plotting to banish the lead instigator of the Speaker’s coup, Matt Gaetz, from Congress.

Terrified of being ignored for a nanosecond, Donald Trump has waddled into the debate with fantasies of his own promotion from political loser to House Cat Herder. And the Senior Trump-Fluffer on Fox News, Sean Hannity, was quick to jump on board with support for this preposterous notion. However, the “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends have some even nuttier notions. On Monday morning, co-host Steve Doocy dropped this slice of silliness…

“Donald Trump can’t be Speaker right now because there is a House rule that restricts people with felony indictments from House leadership, and because he is facing all those charges. The House certainly could change it, but I was talking to somebody down in DC yesterday.”

Let’s interrupt Doocy here to note that he is correct about the Republican Conference rule prohibiting any member from serving in a leadership post if they have been “indicted for a felony for which a sentence of two or more years imprisonment may be imposed.” But if you’ve only been indicted for a felony with a one year sentence, you’re cool. And, yeah, they could change that rule if they don’t mind the optics of embracing leaders with even more serious pending felonies. Like Trump, who has 91, so far. Then Doocy went to say…

“Just imagine if somebody put Donald Trump’s name into nomination. Every Democrat would vote for Donald Trump because, if you look at X (Twitter) right now, the White House and the DNC, they are talking about all the chaos on the Republican side with the Capitol coup. They would love the chaos to continue. So if Donald Trump were in nomination, every Democrat in the House would vote for him. And he only needs five Republicans. He could be – if they change that rule – the next Speaker. That would be crazy!

The idea that Democrats would vote en masse to make Trump Speaker of the House is beyond absurd. Democrats are not needed to help Republicans produce chaos. Republicans do that quite well all by themselves. And while Doocy is correct that Democrats – and everyone else in Washington – are aware of the chaos created by GOP incompetence, Democrats are not in favor of chaos. They would prefer it if Congress could behave like adults and pass bills that benefit the American people.

What’s more, if Democrats don’t want Trump to be president, what makes Doocy think they would want him to be Speaker? That would be – as Doocy aptly describes it – “crazy!” And that should go for Republicans too. If there is any plausible chance for a Trump speakership, it would only be by a majority of Republicans voting for him, along with a handful of prankster Democrats. And even that is highly unlikely.

If any party is angling for chaos, it’s the Republicans. They are the ones who orchestrated this Speaker debacle. They are the ones who nearly pushed the nation, and the world, into an economic collapse by threatening to default on the debt. They are the ones who wanted a devastating government shutdown. For Fox News to suggest that it’s the Democrats who are the chaos agents is just plain dishonest and/or idiotic. In other words, it’s business as usual at Fox News.

The always volatile affairs of the Middle East have unfortunately become inflamed again with a barrage of brutal missile attacks against Israel by Hamas terrorists in Gaza. The surprise assault has resulted in dozens of casualties of mostly civilians, including children. The free world has united in condemnation of the attack that Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has described as an act of war.

Joe Biden, Donald Trump

Here at home in the United States the reaction by leaders has been a mostly uniform expression of outrage, along with firm commitments to stand by our Israeli allies. However, there have been some despicably diverging sentiments as to who is responsible for this grotesque and unwarranted hostility. And the source of those sordid sentiments is all too predictable. Beginning with the guy who regards himself as the messiah…

Shortly after the news of the attack broke, Trump posted his thoughts on his pitifully failing social media scam, Truth Social. He wrote that…

“These Hamas attacks are a disgrace and Israel has every right to defend itself with overwhelming force. Sadly, American taxpayer dollars helped fund these attacks, which many reports are saying came from the Biden Administration. We brought so much peace to the Middle East through the Abraham Accords, only to see Biden whittle it away at a far more rapid pace than anyone thought possible. Here we go again.”

It didn’t take long for the chief spokesman of the “Blame America First” faction to point his fat finger at the United States as the promulgators of the terrorism. Although his awkward phrasing makes it unclear if he’s accusing the U.S. of conducting the attacks or merely paying for them. Either way it isn’t true by any stretch of his warped imagination. What’s more, the Abraham Accords that he is flaunting were between the U.S., the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain, explicitly excluding the Palestinians in Gaza.

Trump also offers no support for his baseless and bizarre assertion that President Biden “whittled away” anything related to the Accords. To the contrary, he supported and enhanced them. But the mere presence of facts has never deterred Trump from making wildly preposterous claims. After the post above, Trump added the following in another post…

“Joe Biden’s ineptitude, weakness, and incompetence has led to this horrible attack on Israel, and it will only get worse. Just four years ago we had the signing of the historic Abraham Accords, and today we have an attack on Israel. What a difference a President makes!”

Once again, Trump’s tirade bears no resemblance to reality. It is simply his effort to make the U.S. the villains and to agree with and affirm the position of his pal, Vladimir Putin, in Russia.

Meanwhile, Biden released a statement that demonstrates how an intelligent, effective diplomat responds to a crisis such as this, putting the blame on the responsible parties. He wrote in part that…

“The United States unequivocally condemns this appalling assault against Israel by Hamas terrorists from Gaza, and I made clear to Prime Minister Netanyahu that we stand ready to offer all appropriate means of support to the Government and people of Israel. Terrorism is never justified. Israel has a right to defend itself and its people.”

Elsewhere in Washington, Trump’s MAGA minions were parroting his “Blame America First” positions. Republican House majority leader, Steve Scalise said that…

“The Biden Administration must be held accountable for its appeasement of these Hamas terrorists, including handing over billions of dollars to them and their Iranian backers.”

Like Trump, Scalise insists that it is not Hamas that “must be held accountable.” And he is, of course, lying about the U.S. “handing over billions of dollars” to Iran. That is likely a reference to a recent deal to secure the release of Americans from Iran by unfreezing iran’s own funds, held in South Korea, to Qatar, where they would be dispensed only for bona fide humanitarian projects.

Contrast that with the statement by the Democratic House minority leader, Hakeem Jeffries who wrote that…

“I strongly condemn the violent and ghastly attack by the terrorist organization Hamas on the Jewish people and the State of Israel. America stands firmly and unequivocally with Israel. We will strongly support Israel’s right to defend herself from this despicable attack.”

So while Democrats properly blame Hamas for the attack on Israel, Trump and his MAGA Republicans blame America and Biden. At least they are consistent as they also blamed America and Biden for Vladimir Putin’s terrorist attack on Ukraine. However, will they be consistent with regard to how the U.S. should respond to the those attacks?

Many Republicans are opposed to the U.S. funding Ukraine’s defense from Russian aggression. They believe those funds should be spent defending America’s borders, not Ukraine’s. So to be consistent, the GOP should also oppose funds for Israel for the same reasons.

However, if you’re expecting consistency from the GOP you’re going to be sorely disappointed. They value hypocrisy far more than consistency. And they will always jump at the chance to malign America if it serves their political interests to do so. That’s the sort of perversion of patriotism practiced by the MAGA-publicans.

Fox News: Democrats Shouldn’t Allow Hillary Clinton to Talk About Deprogramming the MAGA Cult

Fox News must have been thrilled that their favorite political piñata, Hillary Clinton, surfaced in a new interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. They have clearly missed taking wild, albeit feeble, swings at the woman who got three million more votes than their Dear Leader, Donald Trump, and who still manages to make their blood pressure surge whenever she invades their sheltered psyches.

Fox News, Hillary Clinton

The interview was a wide ranging discussion of current affairs and the state of the political environment. Naturally, Clinton was asked about the Republican disarray in the House of Representatives where their fringiest faction ousted their own Speaker for failing to toe the wingnut line closely enough. Although Fox News thinks they may have found an alternative more to their liking.

In the course of the interview, Amanpour asked Clinton whether there was a way going forward wherein the parties could form coalitions to advance the people’s business. Clinton began her response by noting that the passage of the Continuing Resolution that temporarily avoided a government shutdown was evidence that there there is a “common sense, sane part of the Republican caucus in the House.” However, she also observed that they are often “intimidated” by the GOP extremists. She elaborated saying that…

“Sadly, so many of those extremists, those MAGA extremists take their marching orders from Donald Trump, who has no credibility left by any measure. He’s only in it for himself. He’s now defending himself in civil actions and criminal actions, and we need a break with him. Because at some point point maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members. But something needs to happen.”

UH-OH! That was all that was necessary to trigger the outrage of Fox News. On their Friday morning episode of “Outnumbered,” co-hosts Kayleigh McEnany and Tomi Lahren were shocked by Clinton’s perfectly rational analysis of the perversely devotional attachment to Trump. They latched unto Clinton’s accurate description of the MAGA movement as a cult and her tongue-in-cheek suggestion that they be “deprogrammed.”

McEnany: You expect to hear this in the Soviet Union and communist China, and third world countries, dictatorships. But not here in the United Sates.
Lahren: She’s still so bitter about 2016 and that’s landing. She is so upset, so jaded that she lost she just cannot accept it. […] What I don’t understand is why the Democrat Party is allowing her to speak on behalf of the Democrat Party. It does nothing for them.

First of all, someone needs to tell McEnany that the Soviet Union was dissolved 32 years ago. But more to the point, Lahren wants to know “why the Democrats would continue to parade [Clinton] out.” Lahren’s complaint that the Democratic Party is “allowing” Clinton to speak is an affirmation that the Trumpist Republicans are indeed a cult and that, in their tunnel-blind perception, all political parties are cults. They can’t comprehend that Clinton is free to speak about whatever she wants, any time she wants, without getting permission from GOP-style party apparatchiks. Republicans don’t tolerate that sort of independent thought.

What’s more, at no point in the interview did Clinton suggest that she was speaking for the Democratic Party. She was offering her own opinions. However, the lock-step agreement from the other panelists on the Fox News program is further proof of the cult-like state of the GOP as represented on their propaganda network. Which, ironically, underscores the kernel of truth in Clinton’s snarky statement that the Trump Deplorables need to be deprogrammed. They just keep confirming that they are cult. Especially when they try to deny it.

LOLOL: Fox News is Already Hyping Trump for Speaker of the House, and He is Open To It

To the contrary, it is a familiar pattern of incompetence and a tunnel-blind fixation on hoarding power at the expense of advancing the interests of the American people.

Nothing better exemplifies that than the way they banished their Speaker, Kevin McCarthy, for the sin of making concessions to Democrats in order to prevent a devastating government shutdown that most Republicans seemed to have been hoping for. And now that McCarthy is gone, there are factions in the party that are anxious to oust Rep. Matt Gaetz, the guy who led the McCarthy coup.

No rational person thinks that this is the way that government should operate. But to the GOP, it’s the only way they know. So it should come as no surprise that some of them are plotting to make a bad situation monstrously worse.

Since there is no apparent heir to McCarthy’s throne, desperate members of the disgruntled GOP caucus are floating a name from outside the House: Donald J. Trump, the twice impeached former White House occupant who is currently awaiting trial on four criminal indictments consisting of 91 felony charges.

Trump’s name will likely be put into nomination by someone like Marjorie Taylor Greene or Troy Niels, who have both already expressed their support. However, advocates for a Trump speakership are also coming from his Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News. On Tuesday night during an interview of Jim Jordan on Fox News, Sean Hannity revealed that…

“Sources telling me at this hour that some House Republicans have been in contact with – have started an effort to draft former president Donald Trump to be the next speaker and I have been told that president Trump might be open to helping the Republican party at least in the short term if necessary.”

That’s right! It didn’t take Hannity – Fox’s Senior Trump-fluffer – but a few hours to promote his favorite soon-to-be felon to assume control of the People’s House. As if Trump would have the slightest idea what the job entails. And Jim Jordan was open to it too. Except for the minor problem that he announced Wednesday morning that he is running for the post himself.

Hannity said that he thinks that the “stable genius” Trump could be both president and speaker. That would be quite a feat. He would have to squeeze it in between his court hearings and potential periods of incarceration. But what Hannity and the GOP Trumpists appear to be ignorant of are their own rules that prohibit criminals like Trump from serving as speaker.

Rule 26(a) of the Republican House Conference Rules: “A member of the Republican Leadership shall step aside if indicted for a felony for which a sentence of two or more years imprisonment may be imposed.” [So you’re cool if you’re a Republican who has been indicted for a felony with only a one year sentence]

Trump himself is ignorant of this rule as well. On Wednesday morning he was asked by reporters if he would take the job of House Speaker. He replied that…

“A lot of people have been calling me about speaker … If I could help them during the process, then I’d do it.”

It’s hard to imagine Trump being helpful during this or any other process. He would be a worst case scenario for Republicans in the House or, for that matter, America. Trump knows even less about the administration of Congress than he does about the White House. And even after four years in office he has proven that he knows nothing about that. But then again, do Republicans have any better candidates? Do Jordan, or Gaetz, or Steve Scalise, or Elise Stefanik, or anyone else, stir their passions? Not so far.

If we’re lucky, Democratic Majority Leader Hakeem Jeffries will be elected Speaker. He would only need four or five Republicans to stay home in order to prevail. There are at least eighteen Republicans who are either fed up with their party or nervous about being reelected in Democratic districts. And Jeffries could offer them perks to encourage them to sit out the vote. Then he could maintain his position by proposing some form of power sharing. It’s a long shot, to be sure. But it’s way more likely than Trump – aka Cadet Bone Spurs – riding to the rescue.

Trump Weighs in on the Ouster of Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy In the Most Trumpian Way

The now former Republican Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy, suffered through a brutal and unprecedented fifteen vote marathon before securing his position a mere eight months ago. In the time since he failed to produce a single piece of meaningful legislation. He proved himself to be the weakest House Speaker in modern times

However, McCarthy succeeded on a couple of matters. First, he nearly collapsed the national and international economies via his dreadful mismanagement of the debt ceiling. And second, he fumbled the passage of appropriations bills necessary to keep the government from a devastating shutdown.

Consequently, McCarthy has now been removed from the Speakership by his fellow GOP members who are apparently searching for a leader who will fail at an even higher level. And that has launched an intra-party war among the GOP’s radical fringe and their somewhat less radical fringe.

Not to be left out, Donald Trump inserted his unique brand of “wisdom” into the debate over McCarthy’s fate. And true to form, Trump contributed a predictably dishonest and pitifully vacant comment that he posted on his failing social media scam, Truth Social. He whined that…

“Why is it that Republicans are always fighting among themselves, why aren’t they fighting the Radical Left Democrats who are destroying our Country?”

Seriously? No Republican has more bitterly fought his comrades in the party than Trump. He calls the GOP minority leader in the Senate “Old Crow” Mitch McConnell, and his wife “Coco Chow.” During the January 6th insurrection, he blasted McCarthy saying, “I guess these people are more upset about the election than you are.” He is viciously attacking his Republican challengers in the GOP presidential primary with infantile nicknames such as “Ron DeSanctimonious,” “Sloppy Chris Christie,” “Bird Brain” Nikki Haley,” and “Liddle'” Mike Pence.”

If that’s not enough, Trump has also repeatedly bashed any Republican who was insufficiently worshipful as a “RINO” (Republican in name only). That includes senators, governors, state and federal legislators, and media pundits. He recently lashed out at his Ministry of Propaganda saying that “I call Fox News the RINO Network, and their DOWN BIG Ratings accurately reflect the name.”

Of course, Trump’s definition of a RINO is anyone who disagrees with Trump. So it will be interesting to see whether he embraces whatever supplicant succeeds McCarthy in the days (weeks? months?) to come, and if he or she is satisfactorily subservient the Dear Leader Trump. In fact, it will be interesting to see if the GOP can even manage to elect a new speaker.
