SAVE THE DATE: MyPillow Pinhead Mike Lindell is Organizing a Protest Against Fox News

This holiday season Americans will be busy visiting with friends and family and planning festivities for Christmas and New Year’s. It is a season full of joy and comradery and hope. But Mike Lindell, the MyPillow mogul who has become Donald Trump’s foremost election fraud flouting flunky, would like you all to keep open some time for another of his screwball circus acts.

Donald Trump, Mike Lindell, MyPillow

Lindell has announced that he is organizing a public protest against Trump’s Ministry of Disinformation, Fox News:

“We are going to do something out in front of Fox News, I think we should have – you know, if people want to go down there, maybe we should give out Frank Speech signs. [Fox News is] a big part of our country being taken from us.”

Based on the record of abject failure of Lindell’s previous media events, this demonstration promises to be an affair to dismember. It will rank up there with his “Absolute Proof” crocumentary, wherein he declared that he would provide irrefutable evidence that Trump won the election. His presentation was a spectacle of hyperventilating harangues and hothead hyperbole. The only thing it was missing was the “proof” part. Although it did earn him a hysterical disclaimer from OAN prior to airing it, and a place in the billion dollar defamation lawsuit by Dominion Voting Systems.

Lindell also staged a “cyber symposium” that likewise guaranteed confirmation of election fraud. But this event was so preposterous that even Fox News refused to accept advertising for it. As a result, Lindell pulled all of his ads from Fox. Which must have upset Tucker Carlson where MyPillow was his biggest – and pretty much last – advertiser.

Lindell isn’t the only right-winger who is angry with Fox News. Trump has been bashing them regularly, despite continuing to appear with devoted Trump-fluffers like Jeanine Pirro, Sean Hannity, Maria Bartiromo, Laura Ingraham, and Mark Levin. And with the release of Tucker Carlson’s horrifically anti-American diatribe, “Patriot Purge,” – that defends the violent January 6th StormTrumper riots in Washington, D.C. – many staunchly conservative Republicans, and even Fox News staffers, are distancing themselves from the network. NPR is reporting that…

[Fox anchors] Bret Baier and Chris Wallace, shared their objections with Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott and its president of news, Jay Wallace. Those objections rose to Lachlan Murdoch, the chairman and CEO of the network’s parent company.”

None of the Fox executives responded to NPR’s request for comments. However, two longtime Fox contributors, Steven Hayes and Jonah Goldberg, did respond. They just resigned citing Carlson’s pro-insurrection piece as the last straw. And their resignations touched off a wave of support from other Fox regulars.:

  • Liz Cheney: “Thank you @stephenfhayes and @JonahDispatch for standing up for truth and calling out dangerous lies.”
  • Charlie Sykes: “Good.”
  • Adam Kinzinger: “This…. Leading by example. Nice job”
  • Bill Kristol: “Kudos to @stephenfhayes and @JonahDispatch for standing up to Fox, yelling Stop, at a time when few other conservatives are inclined to do so.”
  • Stuart Stevens: “Until @FoxNews commits itself to journalism, anyone who cares about democracy shouldn’t work there or advertise. Doesn’t really hold up to say ‘I support a channel because not every show is a racist attack on democracy, just the most popular'”

This exodus from Fox News may seem like a positive development that could impact their future editorial mission. But don’t count on it. The honchos at Fox don’t appear the least bit interested in slanting back toward sanity and/or reality. And CNN’s Jim Acosta articulated that in a succinct assessment of the state of Fox News:

UPDATE: The Fox News protest was, predictably, a total bust that drew about dozen Lindell flunkies.

Ted Cruz Gets Fact-Checked While Advancing Trump’s ‘Big Lie’ on Face the Nation

Some Republican Trump-fluffers seem to be impervious to shame. They persist in making preposterous statements that contrast profoundly with reality, even after their lies have been thoroughly debunked. And no one has a greater ability to cast off being publicly disgraced than Sen. Ted Cruz.

Ted Cruz, Donald Trump

Cruz, after all, is best known for abandoning his freezing constituents in Texas to take a vacation in sunny Cancun. More recently he was shot down in a blistering Twitter war with his congressional colleagues.

Undeterred, Cruz was interviewed Sunday on CBS’s Face the Nation by Margaret Brennan (video below). When the subject of Donald Trump inciting the January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C. came up, Cruz sought to take a superficially rational stand against violence. “If you’re right-wing, left-wing, or have no ideology at all,” Cruz began, “If you commit an act of violence, if you assault a police officer, if you’re violent against anyone, you should be prosecuted and go to jail.”

True to form, Cruz is merely mouthing what he believes is a politically correct stance against violence. And his talking points were utterly disingenuous and marred by insinuating that the violence on that day could have been committed by either right or left wingers. The truth is that, while the halls of congress were still stained with blood, Cruz made a plea to sweep the sedition under the rug and hold nobody accountable saying “We must come together and put this anger and division behind us.”

That is not exactly an appeal for justice to be served to the insurrectionists who stormed Congress and threatened its members, as well as injuring more than 140 police officers. But Cruz was just getting started. He followed up his anti-violence lecture with yet another endorsement of Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged.” Which led to the following exchange with Brennan.

Cruz: We right now have a substantial chunk of our country that has real doubts about the integrity of the election. And if we had had a credible electoral commission do an emergency audit, it would have enhanced faith in democracy. But instead Democrats and a lot of the press decided to just engage in incendiary rhetoric rather than acknowledge voter fraud is real, it is a problem, and the allegations of voter fraud needed to be examined on the merits.
Brennan: Senator there is no evidence of fraud that would have drawn the outcome of the election into doubt. You know that.

What Cruz purposefully fails to mention is that the “substantial chunk” of Trump chumps who have delusional “doubts about the integrity of the election,” was created by liars like Cruz himself, with an assist from Fox News. But Cruz went on to pat himself on the back for lobbying for a bipartisan electoral commission to study the wholly fictitious allegations of voter fraud. Maybe he would also like to form a commission to study the flatness of the Earth, because a substantial chunk of Americans believe in that too.

Cruz’s suggestion that an audit would have calmed everyone’s post-election jitters was already proven to be bogus. When the Arizona fraudit by the rabidly partisan Cyber Ninjas was released showing that Biden did indeed win the election, Trump had a hissy fit and his cult followers pretended it didn’t exist.

It was Trump who continued to spew the “incendiary rhetoric” that led to the January 6th insurrection. And contrary to his sudden interest in peace and bipartisan commissions, Cruz voted against the one that was proposed to study the Capitol Hill riots. So much for his claim that anyone who committed violence be prosecuted and jailed. That was just another falsehood on behalf of his Dear Leader.

BOO HOO: Trump Cries ‘Witch Hunt’ Over Probe of His ‘Unprecedented and Incredible Coronavirus Response’

Donald Trump, America’s most fabulous whiner (in his own words) is wallowing in his own victimhood again. It’s a character flaw that has been prominent throughout his public life. In his paranoid, narcissistic fog he truly believes that everyone is out to get him.

Donald Trump, Witch Hunt

In a frantic Saturday afternoon tweet fraught with desperation (and posted by his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill), Trump whined petulantly that…

“The Communist Democrats are engaging in yet another Witch Hunt, this time going after my Administration’s unprecedented and incredible coronavirus response, despite the fact that, sadly, more Americans have died this year from Covid than in all of 2020.”

You can always tell when Trump is triggered by the way he hurls absurd adjectives like “Communist” around as if he actually knows what they mean. But in this case he also correctly acknowledges that his response to the COVID pandemic was “unprecedented” (as in negligent and incompetent beyond anything that preceded it) and “incredible” (as in having no credibility whatsoever)

What’s more, Trump reveals that he has absolutely no idea how pandemics work. The reason that fatalities have persisted through this year is precisely because of his malfeasance. He lied about its severity early on, then refused to advocate mitigating measures such as masks and vaccines. As a result, this is now a pandemic of the unvaccinated, who are predominantly Trump supporters and Fox News viewers. But he was just getting started…

“It is a Witch Hunt that’s been going on for years. Why don’t they investigate Crooked Hillary, when so much has now been proven about her and her campaign’s lies and dealings with Russia to smear me and spy on my campaign? I’m telling Peter Navarro to protect executive privilege and not let these unhinged Democrats discredit our great accomplishments. The Witch Hunts must end!”

Of course. It’s a “Witch Hunt.” And that makes it the perfect opportunity to deflect by bringing up preposterous and previously debunked allegations against Hillary Clinton. Then Trump finally gets around to what set him off. His sycophantic fan boy, Peter Navarro, has received a subpoena. According to Politico

“A congressional committee investigating the Trump administration’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic issued a subpoena for former White House trade adviser Peter Navarro on Thursday for failing to respond to document requests. […] The committee is probing whether former Trump administration officials mishandled the federal response to the pandemic, specifically whether it interfered with its own health agencies’ work and how it attempted to change its messaging to downplay the threats posed by the virus.”

As usual, Trump is stonewalling an investigation that an innocent person would embrace as an opportunity to be exonerated. But Trump knows he’s guilty, so he’s attempting to invoke executive privilege, just as he has with Steve Bannon and his other partners in crime, despite the fact that he is no longer president and has no legal claim to it. The documents that Congress is seeking belong to the American people. So Navarro can look forward to a federal indictment should he choose to defy the subpoena.

As for Trump, his demand that the “Witch Hunt” end is going to go unheeded for a very good reason: It has been uncommonly successful at finding actual witches. His campaign and administration has accounted for far more federal indictments than any other president. And there are more to come. Including for Trump himself, the Warlock in chief.

Trump Fluffs Kevin McCarthy for His Impotent Oratory Opposing Biden’s Build Back Better Bill

After many weeks of debate and negotiation, and hysterical harangues by Donald Trump, President Biden’s “Build Back Better” bill has finally passed in the House of Representatives. The vote took place later than expected because Republican minority leader, Kevin McCarthy, sought to delay the vote by rambling on tediously for eight and a half hours.

Donald Trump, Kevin McCarthy

McCarthy’s extended exercise in vapidity had no discernible legislative purpose. He wasn’t going to persuade any supporters of the bill to change their votes. He wasn’t going to wrestle some concession from Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The only reasons he tortured his colleagues with his interminable tirade were to kiss up to Donald Trump, advance his aspirations for speakership, and to force the vote into the wee hours so he could later claim it was passed surreptitiously.

So how did he do? He failed to force a midnight vote because Pelosi easily outsmarted him by simply rescheduling it for the next morning. He failed to secure his post as GOP leader because his long-winded lecture was littered with lies and often absurd trivialities. Which leaves his hopes of winning the appreciation of the Creature from the Mar-a-Lagoon. In that McCarthy succeeded. Trump posted a tweet (via his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill) applauding McCarthy’s late-night sermon:

“Great job by Kevin McCarthy last night, setting a record by going over 8 hours of speaking on the House Floor in order to properly oppose Communism. We must never forget what the Democrats have done, at the highest level of evil. If Mitch McConnell had fought, you would have a different Republican President right now.”

The first thing that needs to be established is that there is no way that Trump listened to more than a few minutes of McCarthy’s rant. Trump isn’t praising what McCarthy said, just that he took more than eight hours to say it. So it’s ironic that Trump is complimenting him for “properly oppos[ing] Communism.” There is nothing that McCarthy’s monologue resembled more closely than the endless elocution of Cuba’s communist commandant Fidel Castro or Russia’s overly talkative tyrant, Vladimir Putin.

Although it was generous of Trump to advise his cult disciples to “never forget what the Democrats have done.” What they’ve done is to pass a bill with dozens of programs that are broadly popular. They include initiatives to address childcare, climate change, health care, the economy, and more. And that’s on top of the previous infrastructure bill that was also a political winner.

Trump was also helpful in providing a reminder that the achievements attained by Democrats came at a time of “the highest level of evil.” Of course Trump didn’t mean to reference himself in that regard, but it was an obvious assumption. He further implicated his senatorial snake in the grass, Mitch McConnell, who he has been fuming about frequently as of late.

You really have to wonder whose side Trump is on these days. He has taken to maligning Republicans almost as much as Democrats. He is recruiting primary opponents for GOP incumbents in Congress and governorships. This unfriendly fire is creating hostility within the Republican Party. Some Republicans, such as Liz Cheney, are firing back with significant force.

Even more problematic for the GOP, the recruits that Trump is signing up are uncommonly unqualified for public service. They are inexperienced, hold extremist fringe positions, and have some unsavory histories. In fact, the only thing they have in common is their unflinching fealty to Trump. Which actually answers the question above about whose side Trump is on. Just as it has been for as long he’s he’s been in public life. Trump is always, and only, on Trump’s side.

SRSLY? Trump Threatens to Sue Pulitzers to Revoke Awards for Factual Russian Collusion Stories

Being the reigning heavyweight champion of the World of Whining, Donald Trump bears the burden of defending his title every day. And he wrestles with this responsibility as furiously as one would expect of a bona fide malignant narcissist. He wakes every morning with a commitment to feeding his insatiable ego.

Donald Trump

Among the most demanding tasks Trump faces is his obsession with the fallacy that he won the presidential election in 2016 all on his own. Never mind that he actually lost the popular vote by more than seven million votes. Trump is still fixated on the verified charges that Russia aided and abetted his campaign. Those charges were documented by exhaustively investigated stories in both the Washington Post and the New York times. Both papers won Pulitzer Awards for their reporting.

Recently Trump has been expressing his notoriously unhinged outrage at the Pulitzer Committee’s decision to honor the journalists whose work revealed how deeply the interests of Trump and his campaign were intertwined with those of Vladimir Putin’s Russia. Putin, when asked directly at a press conference with Trump standing next to him, admitted that he wanted Trump to win and helped him do so.

On Wednesday Trump sent a letter to the Pulitzer Committee demanding that they revoke the awards given to the Post and the Times. His request was triggered by reports that some of the material in the infamous Steele Dossier was provided by sources who were just indicted for lying to the FBI. Setting aside the fact that no one has been convicted, those indictments do not address nor refute the vast majority of what was reported in the Pulitzer winning articles. But that didn’t stop Trump from asserting a series of flagrant falsehoods in his letter to the Pulitzers. For instance, Trump’s letter began by stating that…

“…it has recently become apparent that the subject articles were based on incontrovertibly false information provided by dubious sources who were maliciously attempting to mislead the public and tarnish our client’s reputation.”

There’s a lot of wrong in that sentence. First of all, the articles were not “based on” the Steele Dossier. In fact, they were hardly mentioned. In the twenty articles that made up the series of awarded reporting, the Dossier was referenced in only two of them. And in both of those it was characterized as “unproved” and included Trump’s denials. One article noted that…

“…the [Steele] dossier produced last year alleged, among other things, that associates of Trump colluded with the Kremlin on cyberattacks on Democrats and that the Russians held compromising material about the Republican nominee. These and other explosive claims have not been verified, and they have been vigorously denied by Trump and his allies.”

The article also made clear the that Steele Dossier was not a significant source, saying that…

“U.S. officials took pains to stress that his report was not a U.S. government product and that it had not influenced their broader conclusions that the Russian government had hacked the emails of Democratic officials and released those emails with the intention of helping Trump win the presidency.”

The same is true for the other article that referenced the Dossier. It reported that…

“…the dossier had not been corroborated and that its contents had not influenced the intelligence community’s findings.”

Consequently, there are no grounds for defamation as alleged in Trump’s letter to the Pulitzers. For one thing, the Pulitzer Committee didn’t make any of the allegations that Trump is whining about. Those allegations were in the articles, and they were responsibly and factually reported. Nevertheless, Trump’s letter included his false assertion that the Pulitzers were somehow liable, and an impotent demand for redress, saying that…

“The Pulitzer Prize Board is actively advancing the false narrative contained therein and promoting defamatory statements against our client. […] it is hereby demanded that the Pulitzer Prize Board take immediate steps to strip the New York Times and The Washington Post of the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting. Pulitzer Prize Board’s failure to do so will result in prompt legal action being taken against it.”

Trump’s legal assault on the Pulitzer Committee is purely a function of his bruised ego and thirst for revenge against the media that he regards in Stalinist terms as “the enemy of the people.” It has no legal merit whatsoever, particularly since it is aimed at the awards committee, rather than the journalists. Trump is just exhibiting his raging jealously at never having received any of the awards that he craves, whether they be Pulitzers or Nobels or Emmys or the cover of Sports Illustrated’s annual swimsuit edition. [Editor’s Note: Apologies in advance for that visual] However, he does like making up phony awards and giving them to himself…

Grumpy Trump Thumps ‘Broken Old Crow Mitch McConnell’ in Rabid Anti-Build Back Better Rant

Prima Donald Trump is once again throwing a temper tantrum over matters that he has utterly no control over, nor anything positive to contribute. And true to form, this petulant outburst by “the most fabulous whiner” (in his own words) is comprised entirely of whining, lying, and insulting his perceived foes.

Donald Trump Pacifier Fox

In a tweet posted by his proxy Twitter persona (who is breaching Twitter’s rules by circumventing Trump’s ban), the Former Guy lashed out with his characteristic rancor at Republican minority leader, Mitch McConnell, for allegedly helping Democrats to pass President Biden’s “Build Back Better” plan in the Senate. Of course, McConnell isn’t doing that at all. While he did vote for the Biden infrastructure bill last week, he hasn’t shown any interest in supporting the Build Back Better bill.

RELATED: Crybaby Trump Whines Impotently About Passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill

Nevertheless, Trump was peeved. He began his tirade with his new, childish nickname for McConnell, the “Broken Old Crow,” which he repeated four times in the tweet. He lied about what he said was the $5 trillion price tag of the $1.75 trillion bill, a figure that he attributed to “some people.” And he blamed “McConnell’s incompetence” for “ensuring massive Inflation and the destruction of our Country as we know it.”

If all of things that Trump has said Biden is doing that will “destroy” the country actually did, we would have been crumbled into dust long ago. But the most ridiculous complaint in this tweet was Trump’s insertion of yet another swing at his deranged election fraud allegations:

“This is what happens when you allow a guy who lost an Election to take over the Office of the President. He obviously had no mandate, but they’re changing our Country and everything it stands for.”

Needless to say, it was Trump who lost the election by a whopping seven million votes. And Biden’s agenda has the overwhelming majority support of the American people.

Undeterred, Trump goes on to malign McConnell as “a fool” and then issues an ignorant and impotent order that “he damn well better stop their ‘Dream of Communism Bill'” Which proves again that he has no idea what the word “communism” means. Trump also suggests that McConnell “Use the Debt Ceiling like it should have been used, you Old Broken Crow.” By which he means to threaten the full faith and credit of the United States and send the nation into a recession or worse.

In closing Trump issued another threat, this time aimed at his own party confederates, saying that “Any Republican in the House or Senate who votes for this Bill will never ever get a Trump Endorsement.” Which may, in fact, be a blessing. Trump’s endorsement may help a candidate in a radicalized GOP primary, but it is just as likely to be toxic in the general election.

RELATED: Crybaby Trump Throws Tantrum Over McConnell Plan to Nix Him from Biden Inauguration

While Trump thinks he is advancing the interests of the Republican Party, the reality is that he is diminishing the prospects of incumbent Republicans with his attacks on those he regards as party traitors for voting for his impeachment or for the infrastructure bill. Trump has been busy endorsing obscure primary opponents who often share Trump’s baseless views about 2020 election fraud.

These Trumpist cult disciples hail from the throng of fringe characters who are devoted to Trump’s egomaniacal, anti-democratic, authoritarian aspirations. And in the end, there is no one who appreciates this more than Democrats.

Crybaby Trump Throws Tantrum Over McConnell Plan to Nix Him from Biden Inauguration

Donald Trump has to regard the last couple of years as among the worst of his life. Not only was he impeached twice, an unprecedented achievement, but he also suffered a humiliating loss to Joe Biden for the presidency. Biden, you’ll recall, is the candidate that Trump maligned as a senile communist, but still couldn’t beat him.

Donald Trump, King

As it turns out, 2021 got off to a horrible start to Trump. In the very first week he incited a hostile insurrection in Washington, D.C., sending his StormTrumpers to assault the Capitol and threaten the lives of America’s representatives in Congress as they sought to carry out their constitutional duties.

It was a day that Trump cherished, describing it in the new book, Betrayal, by Jonathan Karl as “a very beautiful time with extremely loving and friendly people.” Indeed, it was the same “beautiful time” when fanatical Trump rioters broke through doors, shattered windows, and left more than 140 officers injured. They were the same “loving and friendly people” that Trump embraced rapturously, even as they were committing violent crimes against people and historically treasured property.

With another revelation from Karl’s book we now learn that Trump was not especially welcome at the inauguration for President Biden. Karl writes that Sen. Mitch McConnell had other plans for Trump:

“The then-Senate majority leader sought to have Trump disinvited from Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration on Jan. 20 […] According to Karl, McConnell ‘felt he could not give Trump another opportunity to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power.'”

Karl goes on to disclose that only after Trump heard about McConnell’s intentions did he fire off a tweet (the very last one before his Twitter account was permanently suspended) saying that he had decided not to attend.

Trump tweet

Naturally, Karl’s account of these events sent Trump into near hysterics. He rushed to post a tweet (via his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill) to refute Karl’s version of what took place. And of course, Trump reimagined it all in a way that put him in a more favorable, albeit fictional, light:

“From Election Day, November 3rd, the day I realized that the 2020 Presidential Election was rigged, I would never have agreed to go to Joe Biden’s Inauguration. This decision was mine, and mine alone. The old broken-down Crow, Mitch McConnell, had nothing to do with it. According to third-rate reporter Jonathan Karl of ABC Fake News, McConnell unsuccessfully tried getting a letter signed by others for me not to go. This was nothing I ever heard of and actually, if he ever did get it signed, I probably would have held my nose and gone. The Election was rigged, the facts are clear, and Mitch McConnell did nothing. He was probably too busy working on deals with China for his wife and family!”

So Trump is, in effect, validating “old broken-down Crow” McConnell’s concerns about Trump being likely to “disrupt the peaceful transfer of power.” He’s admitting that he didn’t regard the election as valid, so his presence could only serve to fuel more violence. And he further implied that, were he to go, it would only be to spite McConnell, not to respect the principles of democracy as enshrined in the Constitution.

Everything that Trump has done and said since then affirms his disgust for democracy and the rights of free people to govern themselves. To the contrary, Trump has been an avid advocate of the authoritarianism that he aspires to attain for himself. The American people better make sure that he fails – again.

Ted Cruz is Humiliated in Hysterical Twitter Feud with Cheney, Kinzinger, and Swalwell

The Republican Circus has more than it’s share of clowns. With people like Lauren Boebert, Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Louis Gohmert, the laughs keep flowing like an avalanche. But despite the tough competition, Cancun Ted Cruz has managed to maintain his status among the most mockable GOP Bozos.

Ted Cruz, Cancun

On Sunday Cruz was busy watching CNN where Jake Tapper was leading a discussion about wayward Republican Liz Cheney and her prospects politically in the future. The question asked by Tapper was “Is there a lane for Liz Cheney in New Hampshire in 2024?”

It was during that segment that inspiration struck Cruz and he was compelled to express his comedic genius in a tweet answering Tapper’s question. “Yes,” Cruz quipped, “It’s called the Democratic primary.”

Have you stopped laughing yet? Cruz’s heckling is supposed to be funny because Cheney has had the courage to criticize Donald Trump and hold him accountable for his criminal behavior. That’s the sort of fortitude that has escaped Cruz for the pat five years. Cruz has been a devoted Trump-fluffer even after Trump insulted his wife as ugly and accused his father of assassinating JFK. And apparently Cruz is unfamiliar with Cheney’s 96% conservative congressional voting record, according to the ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation. So, yeah, she’d be right at home in the Democratic Party.

However, that isn’t where the entertainment ends. Cruz then engaged in a Twitter war with Cheney, GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger, and Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell. It began with Cheney responding to Cruz’s tweet (which you can follow back from here):

Cheney: I know you’re posturing for the secessionist vote, Ted. But my party, the Republican party, saved the Union. You swore an oath to the Constitution. Act like it.
Kinzinger: Damn son, Liz brought the heat on you!
Cruz: These two need to hurry up and get their bottom-rated @msnbc show.
Kinzinger: Senator, you’ve been given a huge position to lead and tell people truth. Yet you have squandered it on lies and abused the patriotism of those who trusted you. I will have zero regrets… will you?
Swalwell: Adam, if you want @tedcruz’s support you’re going to have to attack his wife.

Indeed, Cruz did suggest the possibility of Texas seceding from the U.S. (which it cannot legally do) if Democrats continued to rack up legislative successes that actually improved the lives of the American people. As opposed to the carping by Republican sore losers who have nothing to offer but bitterness and threats of violence.

However, Swalwell takes the Gold for Shade Throwing with his sly observation on how best to get Cruz’s support. And it seems to have silenced Cruz, at least temporarily. But don’t get excited. He will surely recover and be back to form with more of his guffaw inducing witticism. Until then you can substitute the feeling you get from the humor he provides by chewing on broken glass.

New York Times: The Republican Party is Mainstreaming Menace as a Political Tool

Ten months ago Donald Trump sent his StormTrumpers to Capitol Hill with instructions to prevent Congress from carrying out its constitutional duty to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election. He instigated the violence against members of Congress and even his own vice-president, Mike Pence. He ignored the pleas for help from the besieged representatives. He deliberately delayed the deployment of law enforcement.

Donald Trump Rally, Sieg Heil

When Trump finally addressed the insurrectionists, he didn’t condemn their hostilities. He told them that he loved them. And nearly a year later he has not wavered from his position condoning and inciting further violence in an unlawful and futile attempt to hijack democracy and anoint himself America’s Dictator.

Friday’s New York Times published an article that delved into the increasingly hostile tendencies of today’s Republican Party. It recognized the growing potential for harm and the ever more brazen calls for violent action by the right against fellow Americans with whom they have political disagreements.

The article began by reporting on a question asked by an attendee of the ultra-conservative Turning Point USA conference. “When do we get to use the guns?” he said as the audience applauded. “How many elections are they going to steal before we kill these people?” Whereupon Charlie Kirk, the group’s leader, replied that he had to denounce the question. But his reason for doing so was because it allegedly “played into” the nefarious plot of liberals. He didn’t denounce it because it was a disgusting endorsement of political assassination and murder. In other words, his denunciation was purely political, and not remotely moral.

The article went on to describe additional examples of how the right embraced violence. For instance, referring to government health experts advocating wearing masks and getting vaccinated to mitigate the spread of the COVID pandemic, Ohio senate candidate, Josh Mandel, said “When the Gestapo show up at your front door, you know what to do.” And this attitude is becoming more common on the right. According to the Times:

“Polling indicates that 30 percent of Republicans, and 40 percent of people who ‘most trust’ far-right news sources, believe that ‘true patriots’ may have to resort to violence to ‘save’ the country — a statement that gets far less support among Democrats and independents.”

The malevolency of the right was also spelled out in the Times’ article with a particularly appalling section that featured three Republican candidates for office who were endorsed by Trump. Each of them have pending allegations of spousal abuse:

“Herschel Walker, the former professional football player running for Senate in Georgia, is accused of repeatedly threatening his ex-wife’s life, but won Mr. Trump’s endorsement.” [and…]

“Trump also backed the Ohio congressional campaign of Max Miller, who faces allegations of violence from his ex-girlfriend, the former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham.” [and…]

“Sean Parnell, a Senate candidate in Pennsylvania who was endorsed by Mr. Trump, appeared in court this week in a custody fight in which his estranged wife accuses him of choking her and physically harming their children.”

These are the sort of people that Trump and his cult disciples find appealing as representatives. They are also fond of Rep. Paul Gosar who recently “tweeted an anime video altered to show him killing Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and swinging two swords at Mr. Biden.”

This repulsive behavior isn’t limited to Trump and his Republican confederates. Fox News has been excusing and exalting violence as well. And The Times closed their article with an incident directed at Democratic Rep. Debbie Dingell. The article said that she…

“…was threatened by men with assault weapons outside her home last year after she was denounced by Tucker Carlson on his Fox News show. […] ‘They ought to try you for treason,’ one caller screamed in a lengthy, graphic voice mail message. ‘I hope your family dies in front of you. I pray to God that if you’ve got any children, they die in your face.'”

If Democrats don’t manage to shore up their support across the country, Republicans could take control of Congress and fill it with people like those described above. They could continue their efforts to undermine democracy, and find a way to coronate Trump. And if they can’t do it by gerrymandering and suppressive legislation, they obviously have no qualms about resorting to violence.

Democrats have a great deal of accomplishments to pitch themselves to the American people. They have successfully rolled out the coronavirus vaccinations. They have passed an infrastructure bill that is an investment in the nation’s future. They are advocating more policies that are broadly popular with majorities of the populace. So they have a positive case for support to make. They better start doing it, and keep it up for the next couple years.

Fox News Ignores Steve Bannon Indictment to Run Jen Psaki’s Response to ‘Let’s Go Brandon’

The Department of Justice has finally announced that Donald Trump’s former chief strategist, Steve Bannon, has been indicted by a grand jury for contempt of Congress. The contempt referral was sent to the DOJ three weeks ago. So this indictment shows that, while the wheels of justice may turn slowly, they are turning.

Fox News, Jen Psaki

According to the release by the Justice Department…

“Stephen K. Bannon was indicted today by a federal grand jury on two counts of contempt of Congress stemming from his failure to comply with a subpoena issued by the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol.

“Bannon, 67, is charged with one contempt count involving his refusal to appear for a deposition and another involving his refusal to produce documents, despite a subpoena from the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the U.S. Capitol.”

It is unquestionably a major news event when one of the closest associates of a former president is indicted for multiple felonies. And that is apparent by the fact that every broadcast news network (ABC, CBS, and NBC), as well as the cable news networks (CNN and MSNBC), and even Newsmax, have all placed this breaking story at the top of their websites. The only exception to this is – you guessed it – Fox News. In fact, the story didn’t even appear on the Fox News website for more than an hour after it was reported by other news sites. And when it did appear, it was pushed way down the page and consisted of a single line of text with no accompanying graphic.

Instead of this explosive legal and political development, Fox News placed a story at the top of their page about White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki responding to a question about the childish and veiled vulgarity, anti-Biden chant of “Let’s go Brandon.” The headline read “HEARING THIS, ‘BRANDON’? WATCH: White House reveals Biden’s reaction to viral rallying cry sweeping the nation among his critics. Immediately below that were two related stories on the same subject.

The entire story consists of NBC News White House correspondent Peter Alexander asking Psaki what the President thought about the phrase that is wingnut code for “F**k Joe Biden.” Psaki’s reply was a succinct “I don’t think he spends much time focused on it or thinking about it.” Fox News characterized that as a “meltdown.”

Apparently, Fox News doesn’t want their audience to know that Bannon was indicted. But the best distraction that they could come up with was a trivial exchange about a silly, derogatory, partisan slogan. Consequently, Fox is just displaying their impotence as a propaganda outlet. Only the most ignorant consumers of media could be moved by this lame diversion. Fortunately for Fox, that’s exactly who makes up their audience.
