The Road To Obscurity: Conservative Conference Taps Palin, West, Bachmann, Trump

Ralph Reed’s Faith & Freedom Coalition is hosting a conference in Washington, D.C. this week with the optimistic title “Road To Majority 2013.”

Road to Majority

Taking a glance at the list of guest speakers reveals the strategic direction of the right’s plans to assume a majority position in the coming months. They have embraced what they must believe are the leading lights of conservatism who are imbued with the values around which the American people will rally. Here are some of the beloved figures that contributed so much to last year’s election season and inspired so many voters to turn out for President Romney:

  • Sarah Palin: Half-term governor, failed VP candidate.
  • Donald Trump: Bankrupt billionaire, TV game show host.
  • Rand Paul: Confederate advocate, Civil Rights Act opponent.
  • Allen West: Disgraced soldier, one-term congressional nutcase.
  • Jeb Bush: W’s little brother, dynastic has-been.
  • Paul Ryan: Failed VP candidate, P90X pitchman.
  • Herman Cain: Pizza mogul, Ambassador to Uzbeckibeckistanstan.
  • Rick Santorum: Rich frothy…oh never mind.
  • Dick Morris: Most erroneous pundit, prostitute toe-sucker.
  • Michele Bachmann: Tea Party queen, Islamaphobe.
  • Pat Robertson: God’s personal spokesman.
  • John Bolton: UN hating UN ambassador.

With a cast like that, this conference is bound to be a big hit with the Teabagger contingent. It is the sort of forward-looking roster that will surely appeal to the voters the GOP has been so anxious to attract. Young people, Latinos, women, etc., will flock to the broad range of new ideas from these cutting edge thinkers who have demonstrated their ability to succeed.

If this is the best that the right can do, they are going to have an even more embarrassing election debacle in 2014 than they did in 2012. It’s as if the GOP has completely given up. Collections of losers like these are a gift to Democrats who are all too happy for Americans to make them the faces of the Republican Party. The best thing that can happen now is for Fox News to give the conference a big chunk of airtime. Stay tuned.

  1. The same old, same old stuff is not going to get them any better results. The American people rejected what they represent last November. They think by throwing these so-called scandals that most thinking Americans know are b.s., they can succeed with this cast of losers. Soon they will be talking about Obama-fatigue, when what we really need to address is right wing fatigue.

  2. I’ll take Ambassador to Uzbeckibeckistanstan for 100, Mark. Hilarious.

  3. I hope there is video of this conference! It will be priceless! Ralph Reed and most of these losers are the gift that just keeps on giving.

  4. Only one of those guys would be of interest to any tea party person – and that is Rand Paul – the others (except maybe Paul Ryan) are a waste of time. The tea party as far as I know is much more libertarian, which is why the “old” guard types don’t hold much sway. And I really wish this religious angle would go away – the last thing any of us needs is some religious political nut telling us how to live. And I can’t figure out why anyone has interest in Sarah Palin – when she resigned as governor to go national with whatever her plans were – that act alone should disqualify her with anyone with even a little sense. You attack Rand Paul because you know his approach has had an impact – and you’re afraid he will make progress toward breaking the kind of government control you love so much. He knows where the growth in the GOP has and will be and it’s NOT the Bush/Cheney/Rove wing of the party with its fascist approach.

    • Yeah, right. Sarah Palin, Donald Trump, Allen West, Herman Cain, and chair of the congressional Tea Party Caucus Michele Bachmann, have no interest to Teabaggers. What fantasy world are living in?

      • I guess it’s probably more wishful thinking on my part – I can’t listen to any of them – except Rand Paul. The religious people on that list I totally tune out – they are the last people we need. Both Bush presidents were forgettable and damaging – if anyone follows Jeb Bush, they are total suckers.

        • Libertarians are like monkeys with typewriters. They are bound to say something that makes sense once in awhile. That does not make monkeys writers nor Libertarians sensible.

          • Not sure where that came from, but sounds typical for a progressive afraid of their own freedom – you would probably take the side of the state over your fellow citizen every time. We all don’t like to be ruled like you do, if you like to live in chains, go ahead, I’m not stopping you.

        • Jeb bush might be the only person on this list with more thanthe half a functioning brain on this list. The rest could be considered mentally defunct.

          • I cant wait for the cain train to pull back into the station. It is comedic gold for the daily show.
