Ted Cruz Tries to Smear Democrats for the ‘Most Egregious Gerrymanders’ but Fails Egregiously

California Governor Gavin Newsom has been engaged in a fierce battle with Republicans who are plotting to steal the upcoming elections in 2026 and 2028. The GOP is scheming to rig the elections by imposing an unprecedented and unconstitutional mid-census redistricting in Texas and other red states at the behest of Donald Trump.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Ted Cruz, Donald Trump

To counter those moves by the GOP, Newsom is proposing that blue states like California do the same, unless the Republicans back off. In response to Newsom’s efforts, Republicans have tried to justify their election rigging by accusing Democrats of what the GOP is doing. It’s a wholly disingenuous argument coming from the people who started this redistricting war.

SEE THIS: Gavin Newsom Floats Redistricting in California to Counteract the Texas Plan to Gerrymander

Among the Republicans who are trying to blame Democrats for the current political posturing is Texas senator Ted Cruz, who has made political posturing an art form. He posted a question on Twitter/X for Elon Musk’s AI bot, Grok, asking it to “Examine states with six or more congressional seats. Compile a list of the five most egregious gerrymanders.” Grok replied that it was both parties with Democrats being three out of the five…

That response didn’t really affirm that Democrats were more nefarious gerrymanderers, as Cruz had hoped. But neither was it a vindication of either party. So it seemed like it would be a good idea to expand the list beyond merely five states. And that produced a very different result…

The longer list shows that Republicans were the most egregious gerrymanderers in seven out of the top ten states. So Cruz was either deliberately distorting the results by limiting his question to five states, or he simply didn’t care to get a broader, more accurate view.

That’s typical of the modern, MAGA-infested Republican Party. They are purposefully seeking to deceive voters because they know that the truth will reflect badly on them. As Stephen Colbert once observed, “Reality has a well known liberal bias.”

This was confirmed last night by Fox News hack Sean Hannity, who complained about Newsom “spen[ding] the last several weeks bashing president Trump over the Texas redistricting fight while threatening to gerrymander his own state even more.” Hannity pretended to be concerned about whether this was helping or hurting Democrats. He concluded that it was hurting Newsom, despite polls showing Newsom’s approval rating surging since he began his redistricting fight and his hilarious, all-caps mockery of Trump’s Truth Social posts.

For good measure, Hannity also offered up his opinion of Newsom’s recent, more aggressive politicking. He criticized Newsom saying that his “performative confrontational style—maybe it wins you points with the loony radical base in your party but America is not going to vote for that record.” Does that description sound like anyone else you know?

WHUT? The RNC Brags About Trump ‘Making Automobiles Great Again’ By Tweeting a Russian-Made Car

If anyone is worried about the Republican Party outsmarting Democrats in the upcoming midterm elections, you can put your minds at rest. The Party is demonstrating that it is just as confused, ignorant, and oblivious to reality as their Confounder-in-Chief, Donald Trump. They are faithfully emulating the behavior of their Dear Leader to achieve maximum humiliation.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump, Republican, GOP

For several weeks Trump and his White House cronies have been trying to hype a blatantly fabricated “scandal” having to do with an alleged “Deep State” conspiracy by Democrats to frame Trump for colluding with Russia to interfere with the 2016 presidential election. They are accusing everyone from President Obama to Hillary Clinton to the entirety of the U.S. intelligence community, of collaborating in this ludicrous scheme, despite having no evidence whatsoever.

SEE THIS: Trump’s DNI and Fox News Manufacture a New Crackpot Conspiracy Theory Accusing Obama of Treason

Of course, this escalation of baseless scandal mongering is just their latest effort to deflect from the continuing saga of child sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein, and his unsavory relationship with Trump. They are desperate to make this story go away, but it is more resilient than a horror movie axe murderer who can’t be killed. Because the American people want answers to the questions that Trump et al are too scared to provide.

However, the Republicans aren’t doing themselves any favors with their recent campaign to change the subject. On Friday morning the official Twitter/X account for the Republican National Committee posted a comment saying “The One Big Beautiful bill will drive the return of the great American car.” That message appeared above a picture of Trump standing in front of car with the caption: “Making Automobiles Great Again”.

There was just one little problem. The car in the picture was not made in America. It wasn’t made in Mexico, or Canada, or Europe, or Asia either. It was made decades ago in Russia. No, really…

HOLY CRAP!The official GOP Twitter/X account: "Making Automobiles Great Again. x.com/GOP/status/1…The Community Note: "The car pictured behind President Trump is a stock image of a Russian/Soviet made VAZ 2101, better known as the Lada 1200. It is not an American made car."

News Corpse (@newscorpse.bsky.social) 2025-08-01T16:57:27.116Z

Note the correction appended in the Community Note below the tweet that says, “The car pictured behind President Trump is a stock image of a Russian/Soviet made VAZ 2101, better known as the Lada 1200. It is not an American made car.” Anyone with a functioning cerebellum would have known that just by looking at it. But apparently, that leaves out operatives at the RNC.

It is also notable that this epic blunder by the RNC was posted on the same day that Trump endorsed the current chairman of the RNC, Michael Whatley, for the open Senate seat in North Carolina. Trump’s endorsement was made on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, and said that this is…

“Great news for North Carolina! Michael Whatley, one of the most capable executives in our Country, who successfully ran, along with Lara Trump, the Republican National Committee, has launched his run for the United States Senate!”

Great news indeed. For Democrats. If Whatley is one of the RNC’s “most capable executives,” you do not want to run into one of their boneheaded slackers. Such as Lara Trump, who briefly considered running for the seat herself. Depending on the outcome of party primaries, Whatley would be running against Roy Cooper, the popular former two-term governor of North Carolina.

When you consider all of the possible mistakes that they could have made when putting this propaganda tweet together, it boggles the mind how they wound up with Trump doing his YMCA dance in front of a Russian car. The conspiracy crackpots on the right might suspect that there is mole in the RNC who is deliberately sabotaging Trump by further aligning him with Russia and his good pal and role model, Vladimir Putin.

However, these things happen too often for that excuse to be plausible. There would have to be an army of moles. It is much easier to explain by just accepting the fact that they are a confederacy of dunces, inadvertently sabotaging themselves.

Gavin Newsom Floats Redistricting in California to Counteract the Texas Plan to Gerrymander

The Republican Party’s electoral prospects in 2026 are rapidly becoming more dire as Donald Trump and virtually every one of his policy priorities are sinking to ever lower depths of disapproval with ever growing majorities of the American people.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump and Gavin Newsom

Trump’s job approval ratings are currently among the lowest of his modern predecessors. And with regard to the issues that he has deemed crucial, he is underwater on everything from immigration and deportations, to tariffs and trade, to foreign policy and the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, to the economy, and more, including his most recent debacle, the so-called Big Beautiful Bill for billionaires and ballooning deficits.

SEE THIS: As the World Burns: Trump Whines that ‘MAGA HATES Fox News’ After New Poll Shows Him Floundering

Given the abysmal fate that is hovering over the MAGA GOP, Trump and his Republican cohorts are plotting to rig the 2026 elections in order to retain power. Texas governor Greg Abbott recently announced that he will be calling for a special session of the Texas legislature to force a rare mid-census redistricting. The purpose of which is to redraw the district maps to favor Republicans and oust Democrats. As reported by MSNBC

“Trump has reportedly been leaning on Abbott to rejigger the state’s 38 congressional districts to help protect the slim Republican majority in the House ahead of the 2026 midterms. The president, terrified of a repeat of the 2018 midterms that opened the door to two impeachments against him, has zeroed in on even more extreme gerrymandering to limit Democrats’ midterm gains.”

Trump has good reason to be afraid. If Democrats regain majorities in the House and Senate, they have a cornucopia of corrupt practices by Trump and his cronies to investigate and to hold accountable where appropriate under the law.

However, the desperation move by Trump and Abbott may backfire on them. Firstly, because moving some Republicans into Democratic districts may not be enough to flip them from blue to red. Although it could make the previously safe red districts more vulnerable to flipping to blue.

What’s more, the GOP election manipulation plot in red states might result in reciprocal action in blue states. In fact, Gov. Gavin Newsom is already teasing that possibility for California. In a conversation with The Tennessee Holler, Newsom said (at 7:53)…

“I saw what Gov. Abbott did today, announcing a special session that will include redistricting. These guys aren’t f**king around. They’re playing by a totally different set of rules. And here I am in California trying to raise the bar of bipartisanship. Years and years ago we did independent redistricting in a state that I assure you – with two-thirds majorities in the legislature – could gerrymander like no other state. And we’ve been playing fair. When I saw what he did today, it made me question that entire program.”

Newsom concluded by warning that Republicans, who “have no shame and no limits,” are crossing a red line with threats to democracy. Which is a line that was actually crossed long ago. Trump frequently refers to Democrats – who represent at least half the country – as “evil” and “the enemy.” And more specifically, the Trump regime has attack Gov. Newsom in the most vile and anti-American way. For example, Trump’s White House Director of Communications, Steven Cheung, took a precarious leap into comparing Trump’s moral character with Newsom’s. Not a very smart move…

It’s always easy to tell who Trump is most afraid of. It is those who are the least afraid of him, and who will call him on his bullsh*t without hesitation. Newsom is emerging as one of the most courageous and effective Trump critics. Consequently, he will also be one of Trump’s most frequent targets. The problem for Trump is that Newsom is far more intelligent and is backed up by the truth. Trump would be wise to STFU for change. And since that would be wise, don’t expect it to happen.

Trump Goes Bonkers Ranting that Democrats Are ‘Evil, Nasty People Who Hate Our Country’

The deteriorating mental state of Donald Trump is becoming impossible to ignore, even for some of his most ardent sycophants. Not that they will muster the courage to challenge him. But there is clearly a widening gap between the explosive dia-rhetoric that Trump is disgorging, and what passes for reality amongst the rest of his party, and more broadly, the rest of America.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump

The unmooring of what remains of Trump’s sanity has been evident in his raving and deranged outbursts regarding the promotion of his wildly unpopular, so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” (BBB), that adds billions to the deficit and removes millions from their health insurance. It’s evident in the delusional math that he applies to his tariffs, that will be paid by American companies and consumers. It’s evident in his hype following the bombing of Iran, that he says “completely obliterated” their nuclear facilities, in contradiction of independent analysis and even his own intelligence staff.

Trump is so far removed from the real world that only his most devoted cult followers can accept his ludicrous lapses of cognition.

SEE THIS: Trump Cult Priestess, Karoline Leavitt, Preaches the Divine Infallibility of Dear Leader

In a late night bout of hysterics on Saturday, Trump unleashed a rambling, incoherent eruption of animus toward his perceived enemies, who always seem to be fellow Americans. On this occasion it was Democrats who oppose his “Big Ugly Bullsh*t” that were on the receiving end of his unhinged wrath. He posted a comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that was typical of his fevered hate-speech, saying that

“Republicans must remember that they are fighting against a very evil, corrupt and, in many ways, incompetent (Policywise!) group of people.”

It’s notable that Trump only speaks this way about Americans. He would never say such things about Vladimir Putin or Xi Jinping. He went on lie that…

“The Democrats would LOVE to see the Biggest Tax Hike in History (68%!), No Border Spending (Open Borders!), and a weak, underfunded Military.”

Of course, none of that remotely resembles anything that Democrats have advocated. It’s all inventions of Trump’s diseased mind. And he wasn’t finished. He added a bizarre complaint that Democrats “have House and Senate Rules that give Great Power to their Leaders – Committee Chairmanships.” But as Democrats are currently in the minority in Congress, they aren’t making the rules and they have no committee chairmanships at all.

Trump then segued to bragging about his fellow MAGA Republicans that he said are “wonderful people and phenomenal Policy, and that should win Elections every single time!” That came as he was simultaneously trashing GOP senators Thom Tillis and Rand Paul for not voting for his BBB. Then Trump posted another comment railing against Democrats “because they’re nasty people who actually hate our Country.”

Trump’s demeaning of Democrats as hating the country is another example of his psychotic projection, wherein he accuses others of having his own emotional maladies. Trump has demonstrated repeatedly that he has a propensity for hatred. He hates the Constitution that he regularly dismisses and defiles. He hates America’s allies, but loves its enemies. But most of all, he hates his fellow Americans. Whether they be Democrats, Republicans, or independents. Why else would push legislation down our throats that majorities of the people don’t want?

This is what the America people think of the so-called "Big Beautiful Bill" that Trump and the GOP are shoving down the nation's throat. Note that even the Fox News poll has it underwater by 21 points.

10 New Republican Precedents for Presidential Power that Trump and Co. May Come to Regret: Axios

The reign of wannabe dictator Donald Trump has produced some of the most repugnant policies ever to be foisted on the American people. They are replete with racist, misogynist, and xenophobic bigotry. They have the stench of corruption and flagrant self-enrichment. They serve to embrace our enemies and alienate our allies. And they are brazen assaults on the Constitution, particularly the promise of due process and protections of the free press.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump, Constitution

In five short months, Trump’s second occupation of the White House has proven to be far more destructive of the principles that shaped the nation. Trump has surrounded himself with suck-ups who will never challenge his anti-American proposals. And he has set a determined course to cleanse the government of knowledgeable, non-partisan administrators and legal counsel. That leaves him with a worshipful cult of sycophants who are devoted to Dear Leader…

SEE THIS: Trump Cult Priestess, Karoline Leavitt, Preaches the Divine Infallibility of Dear Leader

Unfortunately, Trump has succeeded in some measure to construct a cabal of loyalists in his administration. And with the help of the radical right-leaning Supreme Court, he has managed to secure a number of policy and process victories that he is giddily celebrating. However, Trump may not have as much to celebrate as he thinks. As reported by Axios, Trump and his minions in Congress are setting some new precedents that could come back to bite him in his asinine and arrogant rear flank.

“Through silence or vocal support, House and Senate Republicans are backing an extraordinary set of new precedents for presidential power they may come to regret if and when Democrats seize those same powers…New precedents are exhilarating when you’re in power — and excruciating when you’re not.”

Here are 10 new precedents, all set with minimal GOP dissent:

  1. Presidents can limit the classified information they share with lawmakers after bombing a foreign country without the approval of Congress.
Trump is already refusing to brief Democrats in Congress on his adventurism in Iran, and who knows what else.
  2. Presidents can usurp Congress’s power to levy tariffs, provided they declare a national emergency.
The constitution gives Congress the authority to levy taxes and tariffs, not the president.
  3. Presidents can unilaterally freeze spending approved by Congress, and dismantle or fire the heads of independent agencies established by law.
Trump has unlawfully impounded funds allocated by law and terminated thousands of agency staff over which he has no authority.
  4. Presidents can take control of a state’s National Guard, even if the governor opposes it, and occupy the state for as long as said president wants.
This is the fascist overreach that Trump has taken in Los Angeles, despite having no legal basis or justification.
  5. Presidents can accept gifts from foreign nations, as large as a $200 million plane, even if it’s unclear whether said president gets to keep the plane at the end of the term.
The plane that Trump is getting from Qatar will cost taxpayers another billion dollars to retrofit to standards that comply with Air Force One. And then it will be gifted to his library.
  6. Presidents can actively profit from their time in office, including creating new currencies structured to allow foreign nationals to invest anonymously, benefiting said president.
Trump is raking in millions (billions?) of dollars from his personal businesses and crypto scams.
  7. Presidents can try to browbeat the Federal Reserve into cutting interest rates, including by floating replacements for the Fed chair before their term is up.
Trump has been lying that there is no inflation and, therefore, Fed Chair Jerome Powell is stupid for not cutting interest rates.
  8. Presidents can direct the Justice Department to prosecute their political opponents and punish critics. These punishments can include stripping Secret Service protections, suing them and threatening imprisonment.
Trump has already pardoned 1,500 insurrectionists, and then fired the attorneys in the Justice Department who prosecuted them. And his Attorney Genuflect, Pam Bondi has indicted several Democrats on trumped up charges.
  9. Presidents can punish media companies, law firms and universities that don’t share their viewpoints or values.
Trump is suing several ABC News, CBS News, the New York Times, and others, for having the audacity to report the truth about him. And he is threatening and defunding universities who refuse to kowtow to his fascist demands.
  10. Presidents can aggressively pardon supporters, including those who made large political donations as part of their bid for freedom. The strength of the case in said pardons is irrelevant.
Not only is the strength of the case irrelevant, but so is the crime. Trump has pardoned deep-pocketed supporters who were convicted of drug trafficking, sex crimes, and more.

This is not a comprehensive list. The dangerous precedents being set by Trump extend to many other matters, including immigration, foreign aid, civil liberties, voting rights, state sovereignty, and so much more.

The one thing that Trump and the MAGA GOP have going for them is that Democrats are far more personally moral and legally ethical. While these precedents may apply to them as well when they are in power, they are less likely to avail themselves of them, or to abuse them the way that Trump and Republicans do. And at this stage in Trump’s dissolution of American democracy, it’s hard to say whether that’s a good thing or bad thing.

The Daily Show Hysterically Skewers Trump and Republicans for Blatantly Lying About Tariffs

Two days after “Liberation Day” (as Donald Trump likes to call the day he imposed his disastrous tariffs on the world), the stock market is once again in a tailspin, erasing much of the gains from the past few months and depleting the savings of millions of investors and especially retirees. It’s the worst decline since March of 2020, during COVID. And it’s a wholly self-inflicted economic apocalypse that Trump somehow regards as proof that everything is – in his own words – “going well.”

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump Circling the Drain

Sure it is. It’s going to be just fine if you happen to have a few billion dollars and can spend your days playing golf and sailing on your superyacht. The rest of us need to just STFU and put our blind faith behind Dear Leader Trump who, despite having bankrupted four casinos, and presided over the last stock market crash, and has embraced the world’s wealthiest robber barons (Musk, Zuckerberg, Bezos, Putin, etc.), is hailed by the MAGA cult as an infallible messiah.

SEE THIS: TRUST IN TRUMP? That’s the Only Solution Offered By the Trump Cult to Counter His Disastrous Tariffs

As is often the case, the truth about many of America’s most prominent catastrophes has been summed up in the insightful political satire of The Daily Show. Host Michael Kosta did a better analysis of Trump’s tariff fiasco than much of the mainstream media. He began by putting the blame for the nation’s ills where it belongs… On all of us.

“Whether you like it or not, Republicans don’t want to hear your bitching, because we all knew this was coming.”

[Plays clip of MAGA media hacks saying that everyone knew prices would go up]

“That’s right voters. You can bellyache all you want, but we all knew what we were voting for. Trump was very honest during the campaign that tariffs would drive prices higher, right? Right? RIGHT?”

[Plays clip of Trump promising that tariffs would not drive prices higher]

“Okay, technically he said prices wouldn’t go up, but in his defense, he was lying. And you should have known that, so that’s on you.”

See? It’s the fault of voters for not knowing that everything Trump says is a lie. And sadly, in this regard, Kosta is actually making a good point. The people who voted for Trump had mountains of evidence, compiled over dozens of years, that he couldn’t be trusted to tell the truth about anything. And yet, they voted for him hoping that this time he would come through and fulfill the promises that he made, despite having no idea how to do so, or any record of having done it in the past.

The question going forward is whether those voters will believe anything that Trump is saying now. He continues to defend his horrendously harmful policies, even insisting in an all-caps post on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that “MY POLICIES WILL NEVER CHANGE.”

That declaration is wrong on so many levels. First of all, he has already said that he would change his tariff policies for any country that agrees to make concessions. Secondly, never changing the policies, if he held to that, would mean permanent tariffs and permanent higher costs for American consumers. Third, this comment was meant to assuage the concerns of potential investors, who already don’t trust him and regard him as unreliable and unstable. For good reason.

So Trump’s declaration that his policies will never change is not only another lie, it would be devastating if it happened to be a rare instance of him telling the truth. Which, to be fair, he has done on occasion. For instance, on Friday morning he posted a comment on Truth Social that was surprisingly honest, saying that “Trump is Purposely Crashing The Market.” Of course he is. Because…because…be…oh f*ck it!

Trump actually posted this on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that "Trump is Purposely Crashing The Market."There…Feel better now?

Trump and MAGA Rep FREAK OUT that ‘Monsters’ at NPR and PBS ‘Hate Christians and America’

Conservative Republicans have been trying to kill off NPR and PBS for decades. There is nothing that they hate more than an informed and educated populace. But their obsession with eliminating public broadcasting has never been more pronounced than it is today, during the second coming of Donald Trump, who famously gushed that “I love the poorly educated.”

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump, Censorship

It’s no wonder why Trump feels such affinity to those without the basic elements of intellect and critical thinking. Such people are the most easily manipulated and are the best candidates for indoctrination into hive-mind cults where everyone is expected to think alike. Trump’s Chief-of-Staff, Susie Wiles, said so explicitly on a recent episode of Lara Trump’s Fox News program…

SEE THIS: Lara Trump’s Interview of Her Sugardaddy-in-Law’s Chief-of-Staff on Fox News is Pure Cult Dogma

With all of the swirling catastrophes circling the newly minted Trump 2.0 (SignalGate, annexations of Greenland and Canada, inflationary/recessionary Trump Tax/Tariffs, unconstitutional deportations, mass firings of critical federal workers/services, etc.), the regime is desperate to deflect to matters that they think they can spin in a more positive direction.

As usual, Trump’s desperation has led him to yet another fiasco. He has chosen to escalate the war on public broadcasting to an unprecedented level. On Monday Trump posted a comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social that raged about the “MONSTERS” at NPR and PBS…

“REPUBLICANS MUST DEFUND AND TOTALLY DISASSOCIATE THEMSELVES FROM NPR & PBS, THE RADICAL LEFT ‘MONSTERS’ THAT SO BADLY HURT OUR COUNTRY!”

The sickness and hatred that is Donald Trump and MAGA…They are OBSESSED with killing the "MONSTERS" – NPR & PBS.

News Corpse (@newscorpse.bsky.social) 2025-04-02T19:10:08.508Z

That’s right! It’s about time that somebody fought back against the “monsters” that produce Sesame Street, Antiques Roadshow, All Things Considered, and This Old House. Who can deny that they “so badly hurt our country” and must be defunded? And if that weren’t bad enough, a congressional Trump flunky, Brandon Gill (TX-MAGA), chimed in with the following complaint…

The idea that we’re spending so much of our hard earned tax dollars promoting values that we find repulsive is wrong. We shouldn’t be doing this. Let me remind you that Katherine Maher and the entire staff at NPR, I think it’s worth noting, they don’t just disagree with you. They hate you. They hate Christians. They hate conservatives. They hate this country.”

Rep. Brandon Gill says NPR must be defunded because it is "promoting values that we find repulsive" and everyone who works there hates Christians, conservatives, and America.

Right Wing Watch (@rightwingwatch.bsky.social) 2025-04-02T17:37:10.037Z

Rep. Gill didn’t bother to provide any examples of the “repulsive” values that have him so worked up. So either they are too repulsive to even discuss, or more likely, they don’t exist anywhere outside of his cartoon brain. And his assertion that the entire staff of NPR hates Christians, conservatives, and America, is straight out of the most perverse dregs of wingnut dystopian dementia.

It is troubling to consider that the likelihood of defunding these American institutions is frighteningly plausible. The Republican majority in Congress is devoted to obeying every command from their Dear Leader Trump. Even if it means canceling treasured programs, maligning honorable people, and trashing the Constitution’s First Amendment protections of freedom of the press.

The hysterical rage mongers of the right care only about retaining their grip on power by any means they deem necessary. And attacking public broadcasting serves a dual purpose for these radical lunatics: It helps them to channel attention away from the even more grotesque endeavors that that they are engaged in, and it leads to a more ignorant, compliant base of cult followers.

The good news is that they cannot possibly succeed. They are weak and witless and far fewer in number. The majority of Americans are not as blind and malleable as the MAGA minions. We will resist their efforts to control and subjugate us. And our resolve will see us through. LFG!

Mob Boss Trump Taps JD Vance as Finance Czar of the Republican National Committee (RNC)

The regime of Donald Trump is undergoing some period of panic as their cult senses the deterioration of its grasp on power. Trump’s polling, like the stock market over which he is presiding, is in a severe decline. So he is circling the wagons in order to stave off the disaster that he fears.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump, JD Vance, Dr. Evil, Mini-Me

The bunker mentality that is driving Trump is manifesting in his ever more reclusive behavior. He spends very little time outside of his safe spaces at the White House and Mar-a-Lago. He conducts business almost exclusively by phone. He dispatches his flunkies – Elon Musk, Pam Bondi, Marco Rubio, etc. – to perform the duties that a president would ordinarily take on himself. And he relies on the MAGA media to disgorge the propaganda necessary to keep his flock in line.

SEE THIS: Trump’s Anti-Press Secretary Talks More to Fox News than to Reporters in the White House

The latest example of Trump’s burrowing defense can be seen in the appointment of his vice-president, JD Vance, to the position of finance chair of Republican National Committee (RNC). This appointment was announced in an exclusive report by – who else? – Fox News…

Vice President JD Vance will serve as the Republican National Committee’s finance chair, telling Fox News Digital that he will work with the party to ‘fully enact the MAGA mandate’ and grow the Republican majority in Congress in 2026.

“This is the first time in the history of the GOP that a sitting vice president will serve in the role.”

Trump’s wing man, Vance, told Fox News that he is looking forward to his new job so that he can “fully enact the MAGA mandate and President Trump’s vision.” For the record, the MAGA “mandate” is a measly 1.5% margin of victory over Kamala Harris. And Trump’s “vision” consists primarily of fattening his wallet, getting revenge against his critics, and exalting himself. All at the expense of the welfare of the American people – and the world.

Trump putting his VP in charge of the fundraising arm of the GOP comes with some blatantly egregious conflicts of interest. While the Party apparatus is already gamed to solicit money from self-interested individuals, lobbyists and, corporations, assigning your VP as the point person for collecting that money places an extra layer of coercion on those you are squeezing for cash. It makes it just that much harder to say no, when the collector is the president’s consigliere.

Vance has already distinguished himself in Trump’s eyes with his belligerent assault on Ukrainian President Zelenskyy during a White House visit. In the course of what was supposed to be a routine diplomatic affair, Vance chastised Zelenskyy for being “disrespectful” by failing to grovel sufficiently before Dear Leader Trump.

SEE ALSO: Was Trump’s Ambush of Zelenskyy Preplanned, Including Stacking the Press Pool with Kremlin Hacks?

For its part, Fox News composed their exclusive report on Vance’s RNC job in their typically fawning style. The story included some predictably positive quotes from Trump and current RNC chair, Michael Whatley. But they didn’t bother to seek responses from any Democrat or nonpartisan political analysts. As always, “fair and balanced” means unabashedly one-sided to Fox News.

So now the Vice-President of the United States, someone whose duties are supposed to be to serve the country, is also the Principal Panhandler for the Republican Party. And the role he is filling for the GOP replaces in part their previous co-chair, Lara Trump, who now has a primetime program on Fox News. So that revolving door swings both ways.

Trump is FREAKING OUT About His Coming Recession and Is Begging Weaselly Republicans for Votes

Last week the economy got bad news from multiple fronts. The monthly jobs report showed that the nation added fewer jobs than economists expected in February, the first full month under Trump. Also, the stock market suffered its worst decline in six months, partly due to Trump’s incompetent machinations with tariffs.

Donald Trump

Many of the signals from a variety of economic indicators are pointing to the likelihood of a recession triggered by Trump’s gross mismanagement of the booming economy that he inherited from President Biden. But despite the abundant evidence that Trump has horrendously botched his responsibilities as the country’s financial steward, his fluffers at Fox News have been predictably covering for his incompetence.

SEE THIS: Fox News Trump-Fluffer Insists that the Coming Trump Recession Has Nothing To Do With Trump

Those efforts by Fox News notwithstanding, Trump is feeling the heat from a nation that is growing more disturbed by the hour by Trump’s utter failure to fulfill his campaign promise to fix everything on day one of his reoccupation of the White House. His policies have only succeeded in making things worse. And his resulting flip-flops reveal how lost he is and incapable of coming up with a solution.

Consequently, Trump is resorting to what he knows best: Whining on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, and seeking to coerce his MAGA minions in Congress to supplicate themselves to his desires. He posted a message that is little more than begging for votes to pass an interim Continuing Resolution, because Republicans can’t manage to put a passable budget bill on the floor.

“The House and Senate have put together, under the circumstances, a very good funding Bill (‘CR’)! All Republicans should vote (Please!) YES next week. Great things are coming for America, and I am asking you all to give us a few months to get us through to September so we can continue to put the Country’s ‘financial house’ in order. Democrats will do anything they can to shut down our Government, and we can’t let that happen. We have to remain UNITED — NO DISSENT — Fight for another day when the timing is right. VERY IMPORTANT. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Note that Trump is now reversing course on his prior opposition to CRs. He knows that a new budget won’t get enough votes, even from his fellow Republicans. And he has lowered himself to begging for votes (“Please!”) that his party is reluctant to give him. They know that in order to achieve the goals that Trump and GOP leaders have articulated, they would have to make huge cuts to popular programs like Medicare and Social Security. And at least some of them don’t appear to be willing to do that.

So now Trump is asking for more than one day to deliver his Trumptopia. He’s asking for at least six months. However, even that may not be sufficient if forecasts of recession come to pass. And with the dismantling by DOGE of the governmental agencies that provide so many of the services that keep the economy humming, it’s difficult to see any relief from the purposeful sabotage over which Trump is presiding.

Making matters even more difficult for the Trump regime, his Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News, is starting TO waver. Greg Sargent at the New Republic published an article titled Fox News Suddenly Starts Panicking About Trump’s Economy: ‘Weakening!’ It begins…

“Fox News figures are willing to propagandize on President Trump’s behalf on pretty much every horror that he throws our way. Do Fox personalities back Trump when he sells out our allies in tandem with murderous tyrant Vladimir Putin? Yes, indeed. Do they support Trump when he tries to purge federal workers by the thousands to corruptly replace them with loyalists? Enthusiastically. Do they stick with Trump when he declares himself above the law, explicitly using the language of world-historical dictators to do so? Without reservations.

“But it turns out there are limits. One topic Fox personalities are not quite as willing to run interference for Trump on is the economy. And with signs mounting that Trump’s economy is hitting the skids, they are beginning to sound the alarm.”

Sargent provides some examples of the slippery slope emerging at Fox. They include…

“Maria Bartiromo practically shouted that ‘the jobs picture is weakening!'” [and]

“‘I think the boom times are over,’ Fox anchor Charles Payne declared.” [and]

“‘We are sliding towards a recession,’ Newt Gingrich fretted on Fox News.”

Sargent closed saying that…

“Trump’s overall political project is heavily dependent on an enormous network of propagandists and other pliant institutional players to sustain itself [and] to keep alive the fiction that it’s producing dramatic results.” […]

“If the public continues to sour on his economic performance, the deep cuts to government will look less about efficiency and instead appear maliciously, dangerously incompetent [and] they’ll sound like what they truly are — the rantings of a genuine wannabe dictator.”

Fox News may be unalterably worshipful of Trump, but they are also proponents of right-wing economic policies and the corporate interests that push them. So if Trump continues to lose Fox News due to his fumbling on the economy, he will have an even harder time corralling his GOP flock. And if that happens, the whole MAGA sandcastle will crumble. And it couldn’t come a moment too soon.

Trump Spends New Year’s Eve Whining About Whether the Senate Will Confirm His Noxious Nominees

Another year is coming to a close and people all over the nation and the world are celebrating the promise of what a new year will bring for them, their families, and their country. It’s a time when everyone is filled with somber reflections on the past and uplifting hopes for the future.

Joe Biden and Donald Trump on New Year's Day

Well, almost everyone. True to form, Donald Trump is plagued by his persistent fits of distemper and hostility aimed at the armies of perceived enemies that he imagines are converging to destroy him. While others are preparing for parties and good times with loved ones, Trump generally celebrates holidays like these with infantile attacks on the conspirators plotting against him, such as his message last year…

“HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of the Radical Left Democrats, Marxist Lunatics, China loving Coco Chow and her Obedient Husband, Mitch, and Clueless RINOS, who are working so hard to DESTROY our once great Country.”

SEE TRUMP’S 2023 NEW YEAR: Trump Starts 2023 with a New Year’s Eve Press Conference at Mar-a-Lago but Nobody Came

Heartwarming, isn’t it? This year Trump continues to focus on the tribulations of his miserable existence. For someone who is always bragging about his wealth and success at everything he does, he sure seems to complain a lot. And on New Year’s Eve morning Trump was furious that the Senate, whose constitutional duty it is to provide “advice and consent” to presidential nominees, actually has the audacity to plan confirmation hearings. Trump raged that…

“We just won a Historic Landslide and Mandate from the American People, but Senate Democrats are organizing to improperly stall and delay the confirmation process of many of our Great Nominees. They will try all sorts of tricks starting very soon. Republicans must not allow them to do that. We have a Country to run, and many big problems to solve, mostly created by Democrats. REPUBLICANS, BE SMART AND TOUGH!!!”

Let’s begin to unpack that harangue by noting that Trump’s claim to have “won a Historic Landslide and Mandate” is a flagrant lie. The margin of victory over Vice-President Kamala Harris was a mere 1.6%, one of the narrowest margins in modern history. Consequently, the only mandate he has is in his ego-warped, cartoon brain.

The remainder of Trump’s rant addresses his outrage that Democrats in the Senate, and even a few Republicans, intend to hold confirmation hearings to assess the suitability of Trump’s Cabinet and White House nominees. And no wonder he’s upset. His nominees are profoundly unqualified, inexperienced, and utterly unfit for the jobs that Trump nominated them to perform. Many of Trump’s nominees are, in fact, downright hostile toward the departments they are being asked to run. For instance…

  • Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services, advocates terminating most of the experts at the Food and Drug administration, the Centers for Disease Control, and the Centers For Medicare and Medicaid Services.
  • Kash Patel, his nominee for FBI Director, has promised to go after the media as well as members of the Bureau for imaginary crimes against Trump.
  • Pete Hegseth, his nominee for Secretary of Defense, has advocated on behalf of soldiers convicted of war crimes.
  • Pam Bondi, his nominee for Attorney General, says she will prosecute the U.S. attorneys under her in the Justice Department.
  • Linda McMahon, his nominee for Secretary of Education, has called for the Education Department to eliminated.

In Trump’s mind, the hearings themselves are “improper” and meant to stall the consecration of his blindly loyal apparatchiks. He believes that Democrats are engaging in “tricks” by inquiring into the qualifications of Trump’s flunkies. And he is beseeching his fellow Republicans to prohibit the Senate from fulfilling their Constitutional duties.

These are the demands of an aspiring authoritarian who seeks unchallenged power and unflinching fealty to Dear Leader. And the fact that Trump is obsessing over this on a day that most other Americans are celebrating the new beginnings of a new year tells you just how serious he is about exalting himself as the this new year unfolds.

Trump must not be allowed to prevail in this wholly un-American perversion of democratic principles. The American people must resist his assault on our Constitution and the liberties it provides. And the resistance begins right after we’re done partying and celebrating the turning of the calendar’s page. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!
