Trump Attacks Biden and ‘Incompetent Generals’ In ‘Disgraceful’ Anti-American Rant

Among Donald Trump’s most dishonest political facades is his utterly disingenuous pandering to patriotism. He will flaccidly fling clichés like “America First” while acting out in ways that demonstrate his hostility to this nation and its people.

For instance, Trump recently took the side of the traitorous South in the Civil War, he shunned tributes to the victims and heroes on the twentieth anniversary of 9/11, and he continues to peddle his “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him.

On Friday Trump proved once again how low his opinion of America is in a tweet (posted in violation of his Twitter ban) criticizing the tragic accidental killing of Afghan civilians by an errant drone bomb. It was truly a horrific blunder that tears at the hearts of all decent people. But true to form, Trump couldn’t restrain himself from politicizing this tragedy:

“How disgraceful that so many people have been killed because of our incompetent Generals. The Biden Administration wanted to show that they were tough guys after they surrendered to the Taliban, which left many soldiers injured or dead and left Americans and the best Military equipment in the World behind. Our Country has never been so embarrassed or humiliated.”

It’s important to note that Trump only knows about this because the U.S. military, under President Biden’s leadership, took full responsibility for what happened. That’s something Trump has never done. But Trump’s reaction is repugnant on many levels.

First of all, the generals who Trump is insulting as “incompetent” were also on duty throughout his administration. So wouldn’t that make him equally as liable? Secondly, it was Trump who negotiated the “surrender agreement” (in the words of his own National Security advisor) with the Taliban. Thirdly, the equipment that was left behind was not abandoned. It was intended for use by Afghan troops who, unfortunately, failed to step up.

More to the point, if Trump thinks that the loss of ten civilian lives in this incident is “disgraceful,” what must he think about the fact that civilian deaths occurred with much greater frequency during his term? In fact, As reported at the time, the increase in civilian fatalities was due directly to Trump’s incompetent decisions:

“Civilian deaths skyrocketed in Afghanistan under President Donald Trump, whose administration relaxed the rules of engagement for airstrikes in 2017. […] Airstrikes killed 700 civilians in Afghanistan in 2019 alone, more than any other year since the early days of the war in 2002.”

Trump even tried to hide his murderous malfeasance by revoking a policy set by President Obama that required U.S. intelligence officials to publish the number of civilians killed in drone strikes. And as for Trump’s childish dig about the Biden administration wanting “to show that they were tough guys,” it was Trump who recklessly dropped “the Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) – nicknamed the ‘Mother of All Bombs’ – in April 2017 […] the first combat deployment of that weapon in any war zone.”

Trump’s animosity toward the military is well documented, going back to his five phony deferments from service during the Vietnam war. And then there was his disparagement of Sen. John McCain for having been been captured and spending six years as a prisoner of war. More recently, as president Trump demeaned America’s fallen soldiers, referring to them as “suckers” and “losers.” It’s a record of shamelessness for which one could truly say that “Our Country has never been so embarrassed or humiliated.”

CNN’s Jim Acosta Righteously Nails Tucker Carlson as a ‘Human Manure Spreader’

Last week President Biden succeeded in completing a mission that four presidents before him failed to accomplish. He finally ended America’s involvement in the twenty year long war in Afghanistan. And in doing so he pulled off the largest personnel airlift in history, evacuating more than 120,000 people, including about 6,000 Americans.

True to form, Fox News condemned all of that, and especially Biden, as a miserable failure. They focused on the few adversities – including a tragic terrorist bombing – while ignoring the exemplary deportment of our armed forces and diplomats who brought tens of thousands to safety and brought a futile foreign engagement to a close.

While more current events where taking place here at home (i.e. Hurricane Ida, a surging COVID pandemic, and a draconian Texas law setting reproductive rights back fifty years), both Fox News and Donald Trump wanted the press to cover only the bad news from the region.

On Saturday CNN’s Jim Acosta took aim at Fox’s Senior White Nationalist, Tucker Carlson, in a segment that was particularly cutting. He referred to Carlson as a “human manure spreader.” Which is better than if he simple stopped at Carlson being human manure. Acosta said…

“Over on Fox, human manure spreader Tucker Carlson, has floated yet another race baiting conspiracy theory that tens of thousands of Afghan refugees are being welcomed into this country in order to change the outcome of future elections.”

Acosta then played a clip of Carlson disgorging his racist “white replacement theory” diatribe about Afghan refugees being brought to the U.S as part of a “Change America Forever” plot to pack the electorate with foreigners. Never mind that refugees cannot vote and it will be many years before they can even become citizens. It’s something Carlson has been fear mongering frequently. Then Acosta continued…

“Did he say ‘change America forever’? I think change is already in the air. We had an insurrection nearly eight months ago. An insurrection that, let’s face it, hasn’t really ended.”

Carlson believes – or wants his audience to believe – that the Afghans who helped Americans through difficult times in a foreign land are actually threats who must be feared and scorned. And if they come to America they aren’t just random threats on a vast continent. Nope. They are “probably” moving in next door to you by the millions. In other words…Be afraid America. That’s Carlson’s message.

Acosta’s words put all of that into the proper perspective. Except that what Carlson and Fox News are spreading is even too toxic for your suburban lawn. While fertilizer is intended to help things grow, the bullpucky that is being spread here is meant to kill whatever it comes into contact with. Which is why we need more word weeders like Acosta to cultivate common sense and promote a fertile environment.

Fox News CRUSHED that the Media is ‘Moving On From Afghanistan’ to Cover Actual News

The past week has been one of profoundly significant world events. The United States finally ended a twenty year long war in Afghanistan. The COVID pandemic surged to record levels due to the Delta variant. The Supreme Court declined to block a draconian abortion rights law in the state of Texas. And a hurricane ravaged many parts of country from the Gulf Coast to New England.

Each of those stories are important to the American people and deserve coverage by the media. Unless you’re Fox News where the only stories that warrant being told are those that reflect poorly on President Biden or Democrats in general.

Which explains why Fox News posted a story on their website giddily proclaiming that “Liberal media blasted for moving on from Afghanistan crisis.” Yes, Fox News couldn’t have been happier about this criticism of what they regard as the “mainstream media.” The article griped that…

“The liberal media seems to be moving on from President Biden’s chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, skipping key details and largely ignoring a bombshell report of a leaked July phone call between President Biden and then-Afghan President Ashraf Ghani. […] Hurricane Ida, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the Texas abortion law have seemingly pushed Afghanistan aside.”

That’s right. Fox News is appalled and saddened that the media is covering actual news. To Fox News Afghanistan should be still be the dominant story, despite the fact that there hasn’t been any breaking news from there in a week. The press was all over Afghanistan a week ago when thirteen service members, and an estimated 150 Afghans, were tragically killed in a terrorist bombing. And the press was there when the last of the American troops were evacuated from the country, along with 120,000 Afghan allies, in an unprecedented and successful airlift.

However, in the past week there have been other events that warranted coverage. The COVID pandemic was taking the lives of more than 1,000 Americans every day. The Supreme Court handed down a ruling that effectively overturned the fifty year old Roe v Wade precedent on reproductive rights. And Hurricane Ida tore a path across the Eastern United States that resulted in more than 60 American deaths (nearly five times those in Afghanistan) reported so far. But to Fox News, those are mere distractions from Afghanistan.

The reason that Fox is so obsessed with Afghanistan is that it is a “crisis” that they think they can blame on Biden. Surely Biden isn’t responsible for a hurricane, the surging pandemic that is largely due to unvaccinated Fox News viewers, or the laws coming out of Texas. Consequently, those other stories need to be set aside in favor of finding more ways to attack the President.

With that in mind, Fox set about to contrive tales to tell that would cast mud on Biden. But the only ones that they could find were stories about the few Americans still in Afghanistan, and an utterly unnoteworthy phone call between Biden and Afghan President Ghani.

Undeterred, Fox news devoted most of the article to the “blasting” they claimed that the “liberal” media was taking. However, the article quoted only five alleged blasters, all of whom were staunchly right-wing propagandists. For instance…

Fox News contributor Joe Concha who wrote about the media “serving at the pleasure of the White House communications team.”
Media Research Center vice president Dan Gainor whining that “Their bias is disgusting.”
Former Daily Caller columnist, Jackson Richman who prefaced his comments with “The Biden-friendly mainstream media…”
Federalist columnist Eddie Scarry lamenting because “The media will wound [Biden] but they will not kill him.”
White House press secretary-turned Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany bragging that “You can guarantee at Fox News we’ll cover when an American president tells a foreign leader to change the perception.”

Poor Fox News is very upset that the story they want to hype because they can use it to bash Biden has been overshadowed by other more urgent and current stories. They think that a week old story – while still important and still being covered – should take precedence over a national weather emergency that killed dozens of people and is still posing extreme hardships for millions of Americans who are displaced from their homes and without power, water, or food.

What’s more, Fox News was so disinterested in the Texas abortion law story that they hardly covered it all in the first few hours. And consistent with their reporting for the past year and a half, the coronavirus barely merited a mention, unless it was to applaud Republicans like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for making his state the national Hot Zone for the pandemic.

We can expect this sort of biased coverage to continue at Fox News. They have never been interested in journalism. Their foundational mission was to manufacture “news” to boost their right-wing agenda. And nothing illustrates that better than how they are covering current events this week.

Tucker Carlson Warns of ‘Revolt’ if Biden Doesn’t Apologize for Ending the Afghanistan War

Incendiary commentary has become a daily ritual at Fox News. When they aren’t justifying Donald Trump’s delusional allegations of an allegedly “stolen” election that already incited insurrectionist riots on Capitol Hill on January 6th, they are fomenting fear of a “socialist” take over that will put an end to freedom in America once and for all.

No one on Fox News has been more determined to spread dread to his dimwitted viewers than Tucker Carlson. He has fear mongered about “dirty” immigrants “invading” the United States and overwhelming “traditional” Americans (the White Replacement Theory). Carlson has also stirred paranoid panic with dangerously false disinformation about the COVID pandemic and the common sense methods of mitigating harm via masks and vaccines. He even went so far as to encourage his followers to report parents whose children wear face masks to the police as child abusers.

On Monday night Carlson took another step over the cliff of crackpottery by arguing that violent revolution is justified if President Biden doesn’t apologize for successfully ending the twenty year long war in Afghanistan. Carlson was terribly disturbed that he hadn’t seen anybody in the Biden administration take responsibility for the sometimes messy evacuation from a war zone that was entirely predictable.

Of course, Biden himself had explicitly told the American people that he assumed full responsibility for anything that happens on his watch. But that clear and concise message was too complicated for Carlson to grasp. So he unleashed this bit of asininity:

“This can’t go on. When leaders refuse to hold themselves accountable over time, people revolt. That happens. We need to change course immediately and start acknowledging our mistakes. The people who made them need to start acknowledging them or else the consequences will be awful.”

For Carlson to raise the specter of revolt is irresponsible in the extreme. He appears to be lusting for violence, and it doesn’t matter what the reason is. So even though Biden has been open and honest about the tragic circumstances in Afghanistan, Carlson still thinks his viewers should resort to the savagery of an irrational rebellion just on his say so.

Never mind that Biden pulled off one of the most remarkable military operations in U.S. history. He managed the largest personnel airlift ever, safely evacuating more than 120,000 people in less than a month. The one unfortunate incident was a terrorist bombing, but Biden retaliated swiftly and successfully within hours. And for this Carlson thinks Biden should apologize or be subject to a revolt of right-wing barbarians like those who stormed the Capitol last January 6th.

What makes this all the more preposterous is that Carlson’s rant could have been written by a progressive activist and directed at Donald Trump. Read it again and see if it doesn’t apply much more accurately to the explicit denials of responsibility by Trump for everything from the January 6th insurrection, to the 620,000+ deaths due TO COVID-19, to the horrific immigrant family separations, to the unprecedented national debt and income inequality due to his tax cuts for corporations and the rich, to the exacerbation of the climate crisis, and to so many more catastrophic consequences of his ignorance and/or deliberate malfeasance.

Trump has never taken accountability for any of the disasters over which he presided. Nor has he ever acknowledged making a single mistake. So by Carlson’s reasoning, If anyone has the right to revolt it’s America’s Democrats and progressives. And hopefully they will do just that by means of the ballot box in 2022, 2024, and beyond.

Trump Whines About Media Covering Hurricane Ida Instead of Bashing Biden On Afghanistan

America’s most flagrantly dishonest and flamboyantly narcissistic president, Donald Trump, is affirming just how little he cares about the American people. Apparently it wasn’t enough for Trump to preside over the deaths of more than 620,000 Americans. He still felt compelled to exploit the victims of a terrorist bombing in Afghanistan in order to advance his “Big Lie” about election fraud.

And yet, that still didn’t satisfy Trump’s obsession with slandering President Biden, even at the expense of more suffering by fellow citizens.

On Monday morning Trump visited with the radical Christianist radio host, Todd Starnes, who was too over the top for Fox News, who fired him two years ago. In the course of their mutually admiring intercourse, Trump unleashed a round of the moldy oldies he has been spinning for years.

Trump railed against his omnipresent foes for having “the fake news, and they have all of the big tech, and all of the crooked politicians,” while delusionally claiming that “we have the people.” Well, except for the people in every poll and the 81 million majority who voted for Joe Biden. Then Trump hauled out this bit of inanity:

“[The people] are not taking what’s happening in Afghanistan. If you look at last night, all they talked about was the hurricane. You look at CNN, and you look at MSDNC, these are horrible … they’re way down, fortunately, they’re way down in ratings. But all they want to talk about is the hurricane, or anything else that they can talk about. Because Afghanistan is not something that can even be discussed in a rational way, The level of stupidity – and we had a great agreement.

So in Trump’s warped view, a catastrophic, category 4 hurricane bearing down on some of the nation’s most populated cities isn’t deserving of media coverage? This was the most severe weather crisis in the region in years. Millions of people were thrust into darkness. Homes and businesses were flooded. It’s too soon to assess the death toll because it isn’t safe enough yet for rescue and recovery operations to begin. But Trump is whining because this has allegedly interrupted the non-stop coverage of Afghanistan. He obviously couldn’t care less about the Americans currently in harms way at home.

You have to wonder what “news” Trump was watching. While there was extensive and warranted coverage of Hurricane Ida, stories about Afghanistan continued to be broadcast by all of the legitimate news networks. The only reason that Trump wasn’t satisfied is that the coverage of Afghanistan was unduly negative toward Biden, which Trump and his GOP confederates were fueling with their own disinformation and partisan criticisms. He was more interested in those attacks continuing than in the public being informed of imminent danger.

For it’s appropriate decision to focus on the hurricane, Trump lashed out at the media with his tedious complaint that they are “the enemy of the people,” adding that they are “fake and crooked and corrupt,” and that “They’ve got to hate our country.” But like almost every insult that Trump casts, these all sound like better description of his own fatal flaws. Trump is a textbook example of psychotic projection. And he is a bigger threat to the welfare of the nation than a hurricane.

Lindsey Graham Goes After Biden on Afghanistan and Gets Literally Everything Wrong

President Biden has been taking considerable heat on his handling of the Afghanistan war winddown. Despite the unprecedented airlift that has evacuated more than 100,000 people in less than a month, and having to navigate the traps that Donald Trump left for him, the President has still had to weather unduly harsh criticism from politicians and pundits.

Fox News predictably takes the lead among pundits taking aim at Biden. However, on Sunday morning CBS took a turn with an interview of GOP Senator Lindsey Graham. Ed O’Keefe hosting Face the Nation asked Graham what consequences Biden should face for his decisions about leaving Afghanistan. Graham responded with a bizarre question of his own, asking “Whose decision was it to pull all the troops out?”

That, of course, was a decision made in what Trump’s own National Security Advisor called a “surrender agreement“ between Trump and the Taliban for an unrealistic May 2021 withdrawal. Biden put it off until August 31. But Graham wasn’t through lobbing mud at his former friend:

“I think he should be facing a lot of consequences here … Joe Biden’s fingerprints are all over this. He’s created the conditions for ISIS to flourish in Afghanistan. They doubled the number of troops available because of the jail break. A terrorist group called the Taliban is now in charge of the country. … He deserves a lot of accountability for this, and I’m sure it will be coming.”

Graham got literally everything wrong in that brief commentary. To begin with, he didn’t bother to explain how Biden “created the conditions for ISIS to flourish,” and O’Keefe didn’t bother to follow up. More objective observers would note that it was Trump’s abysmal deal with the Taliban that set the stage for more terrorist activity. That deal called for the release of 5,000 Taliban fighters. It also lifted all sanctions on the terrorist group. And it set a date certain for the exit of American and allied troops.

Graham’s complaint that a jailbreak “doubled the number of troops” was peculiar, because the jailbreak to which he is referring occurred on August 2, 2020, under Trump’s watch. So that’s just more evidence that it was Trump who bears the responsibility for the ordeals that followed. O’Keefe let that slide as well.

Graham closes by stating the obvious that “the Taliban is now in charge.” Of course that’s only because Trump negotiated that outcome when he excluded Afghan leaders from the talks that resulted in the U.S. withdrawal. By doing so he further delegitimized their government and guaranteed that they would have no role in the country’s future.

Those are the decisions that made the conditions in Afghanistan far more favorable for the terrorists. They all emanated from Graham’s Dear Leader Trump. Nevertheless, Graham took this opportunity to call for Biden to be impeached, and not for the first time. Which only affirms that he is a brazenly political hack who couldn’t care less about facts as he stabs his former friend in the back. That in turn affirms the total absence of ethics on the part of Republican Party that Graham represents.

OF COURSE: Fox News Blames Obama for ‘Missing Huge Opportunity’ to Leave Afghanistan

President Biden’s determination that the twenty year long Afghanistan war would not be handed down to another American president is a goal that the vast majority of the American people agree with. In fact, before Biden took on the task, Republicans, including Donald Trump, agreed with it.

This was never going to be a easy job, and the difficulties inherent in such an operation were tragically borne out when an ISIS terrorist took the lives of 13 American soldiers and an estimated 150 Afghan civilians. Nevertheless, Biden’s team orchestrated the largest personnel airlift in history, evacuating more than 100,000 people in less than a month. All the while Trump was slandering Biden for achieving an objective for which Trump had notoriously failed.

Naturally, Fox News couldn’t stand by and witness this unprecedented evacuation without finding some way of maligning Biden and the U.S. military, and turning the whole affair into propaganda piece for Trump and his Republican Party. Some of the attacks were vicious and bizarre, such as their attempt to blame First Lady Jill Biden for what they portrayed as a “debacle”. That ludicrous shifting of responsibility brought only ridicule to Fox News.

Undeterred, Fox News has now focused on a new culprit whom they can pin this thing on: Former President Barack Obama. Because whenever there is any problem that might reflect badly on the right-wing beneficiaries of Fox’s bullshittery, they resort to their old standby: Blame the Black guy. Thus we have a story on the Fox News website headlined, “Obama missed huge opportunity to get out of Afghanistan, general says.”

The article accuses Obama of having missed the opportunity to exit Afghanistan following the termination of Al Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden. The assumption being that with Bin Laden’s death there was no more terrorist threat at all. But even if there were some truth to the suggestion that Obama could have withdrawn U.S. troops at that time, Fox News wasn’t just faulting him for letting that opportunity slip away. They went even further charging that by not leaving then, he was “thus extending U.S. troops’ time in the country for another 10 years.”

Did you catch that? Fox News is hanging responsibility for the war continuing on Obama, not just for the remainder of his term, but for the entirety of Trump’s term. In Fox World Trump is blameless even though he campaigned on ending the war, but failed to fulfill that promise for four years.

What’s more, the article also hit Biden’s decision to finally take action, saying that it was “a decision that emboldened the Taliban.” Never mind that it was Trump who negotiated the “surrender agreement” with the Taliban, completely leaving out the Afghan government.

It was just a matter of time before Fox News got around to blaming the Black guy. They had already failed to get any traction out of fingering Dr. Jill Biden. And the President was performing too well to continuing pursuing that path. So the next target would have had to have been Hillary Clinton or Obama. Consequently, Hillary might want to prepare for some incoming attacks after the Obama assault proves to be futile.

24 Hours Later, Big Mouth Trump Has Nothing to Say About Biden’s Drone Strike Against ISIS-K

If there is one thing for which Donald Trump has distinguished himself, it’s his interminable compulsion to inject his transparently self-serving, usually incoherent, and always lie-riddled opinion into every discussion on any subject regardless of how ignorant he is on the topic. Which is pretty much every topic. Trump’s mouth is a perpetually gaping hole that excretes waste product at all hours of the day and night.

So it’s curious to note that Trump has been uncharacteristically silent on one particular subject for the past 24 hours. On Friday, President Biden’s White House announced that the U.S. military had deployed an armed drone to a remote province in Afghanistan where it successfully terminated a high-level ISIS-K operative. This strike was an opening salvo in retaliation for the terrorist bombing that took place at the Kabul airport the day before.

Ever since the airport bombing that took the lives of 13 American service members and an estimated 150 Afghan civilians, Trump has been flinging vicious and unfounded attacks, not at the terrorists, but at Biden and America’s military. He complained that “This is what you get when you have weakness in the White House.” So you have to wonder if he meant that to apply to the 80+ soldiers who were killed while he was occupying the White House.

Trump would not shut up about the tragedy. He pretended to care about the victims, although he has previously insulted fallen soldiers as “losers” and “suckers.” and he callously exploited it to whine some more about having lost the 2020 presidential election. But what he hasn’t done is to acknowledge the military’s achievement in hitting back at the terrorists so quickly and efficiently.

It isn’t that Trump has been busy with other more important matters, like golfing or watching Fox News. On Saturday morning he released four official statements via his spokes-shill, Liz Harrington (whose proxy Trump tweeting is violating Twitter’s rules against circumventing a ban). Each statement was a bitter and flagrantly false anti-Biden outburst:

UPDATE: It’s now been 48 hours and still no comment by Trump acknowledging the successful strike against ISIS-K. However, there were more of these rage-tweets (all linking to Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post)…

“This debacle has exposed Joe Biden as a failed president”
“Afghanistan Reveals All the President’s Weaknesses”
“I ran Team Trump’s Afghan withdrawal—Biden’s attempt to blame us is just sad”
“In the midst of a White House breakdown: Goodwin”

So Trump had plenty of time to express those derogatory thoughts that serve no purpose other than to bring down America. But he hasn’t had the time or inclination to offer a bit of praise for those who are defending the nation under dangerous circumstances.

Trump is simply a malignant narcissist who is too jealous and emotionally warped to allow Biden to get any credit, even if that means denying well deserved commendations for the hard work and sacrifices of American heroes. But then that’s “what you get when you have weakness” in a treasonous, lying, twice-impeached, former TV game show host, who still has authoritarian aspirations.

Trump Exploits the Terrorist Attack in Afghanistan to Whine About Losing the 2020 Election

In the wake of the tragic terrorist attack in Afghanistan, Republicans wasted no time engaging in rank politicization of the loss of life and wantonly blaming President Biden. This despite the overwhelming evidence that Donald Trump bears the most responsibility due to his having negotiated a “surrender agreement” with the Taliban (according to his own National Security Advisor), and his lethal failure to plan for the withdrawal.

For his part, Trump is behaving predictably as he frantically absolves himself of any responsibility, baselessly castigates his critics, and incoherently rambles from subject to subject in an effort to land on something that he thinks casts him in a favorable light.

Trump’s most recent babbling in this regard took an especially rancid turn as he conflated the casualties in Afghanistan with his “Big Lie” rhetoric about the 2020 presidential election having been “stolen” from him. In a tweeted statement by his spokes-shill, Liz Harrington (whose proxy Trump tweeting is violating Twitter’s rules against circumventing a ban), Trump ranted that…

“If the Democrats could fight wars as well as they execute Election Fraud, we would have obliterated all of our many enemies throughout the World, and would have nothing to worry about!”

Really? First of all, Trump is sort of complimenting Democrats with his admission that they outsmarted him by decisively defeating him the 2020 election. Although outsmarting Trump isn’t a particularly high bar to get over. But worse, Trump is noxiously exploiting a human tragedy in order to continue propagating the same proven lies about election fraud that led to the deadly January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C.

What’s more, Trump is accusing Biden and the Democrats of failing to “win” the war in Afghanistan after being in office for only seven months. If that’s a failure on Biden’s part, what does it mean that Trump had four years during which he could have “obliterated all of our many enemies throughout the World,” but failed to either achieve victory or to complete a withdrawal?

On at least three occasions in the past two days Trump has made made similarly repulsive remarks. He told radio right-winger Hugh Hewitt that Democrats “used COVID in order to cheat, cause they cheat fantastically. If they could fight wars like they cheat in election, we would have had that war won in one day.” And he released a pure propaganda video on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program wherein he exalted himself saying that “This tragedy should never have taken place. It should never have happened. and it would not have happened if I were your president.”

Trump’s assertions that the world would have been a peaceful utopia had the American people reelected him is an absurdity borne out by actual facts. Not only were 80 service members killed in Afghanistan on Trump’s watch (most of which he callously ignored), but there were multiple attacks on military bases in the United States, resulting in 12 fatalities. Trump has also conveniently forgotten the terrorist attack by ISIS in New York City that killed eight civilians.

By using the deaths of American soldiers to regurgitate his election fraud conspiracy theories, Trump is affirming his unfitness for any office of public service. He is disqualifying himself from inclusion in civil society. And he is putting his well known narcissism, indecency, and inhumanity on public display. But then again, what else would you expect from Trump and his Republican Party?

After Terrorist Attack, Peter Doocy of Fox News Asks Biden if He ‘Bears Any Responsibility’

As the U.S. involvement in the war in Afghanistan winds down, the risks that were anticipated are unfolding in tragic ways. On Thursday a terrorist suicide bomber killed scores of people assembled at the gates of the airport in Kabul. Twelve of them were American soldiers. It was the deadliest day for the U.S. military in Afghanistan in years.

President Biden addressed the American people from the White House to pay tribute to the deceased heroes, to assure the terrorists that they will pay a steep price, and to comfort a grieving nation.

Biden then took questions from the press. Many of the questions were relevant and produced useful information. However, one question was brazenly slanted and intended only to assign blame at a time when the nation was more focused securing those in danger and apprehending the perpetrators. That question was asked by Peter Doocy of Fox News, of course:

Doocy: Mr. President, there had not been a U.S. service member killed in combat in Afghanistan since February of 2020. You set a deadline. You pulled troops out. You sent troops back in. And now twelve Marines are dead. You said the buck stops with you. Do you bear any responsibility for the way things have unfolded in the past two weeks?
Biden: I bear responsibility for fundamentally all that’s happened of late. But here’s the deal: You know – I wish you one day say these things – you know as well as I do that the former president made a deal with the Taliban that we would get all American forces out of Afghanistan by May 1. In return the commitment was made – that was the year before – in return he was given the commitment that the Taliban would continue to attack others, but would not attack any American forces. Remember that?

To his credit, Biden showed the integrity to accept full responsibility for the somber duties he performs as Commander in Chief. Doocy’s attempt to make this all about some facile form of guilt was intended to malign the President. It didn’t work.

To the contrary, Biden flipped the question back on Doocy, asking him to recall that it was Donald Trump who made the deal with the Taliban to remove all American forces by May 1st – four months sooner – in exchange for lifting all sanctions and freeing 5,000 of their imprisoned fighters. That’s a deal that Trump’s own National Security Advisor called a “surrender agreement.”

Trump never had a plan to end the war or evacuate Americans and Afghan allies. That’s a failing that was pointed out on Wednesday in response to yet another ill-advised question by Doocy. And as tensions mount, Fox News seems to be having trouble fulfilling their mission to undermine Democrats in government service. They even had a reporter chastise Republicans for leaping in front of the terrorist bombing story for their own selfish political advantage.

Doocy’s efforts to politicize and trivialize the painful loss of life in Afghanistan is typical for Fox News. No story has any significance to them unless it can be exploited to hurt Democrats. Which is why Doocy and his handlers composed their question as a club with which to beat up on Biden. The only problem is that they are just so bad at it that it rarely, if ever, works.
