Terrified Trump Calls Special Counsel Jack Smith a ‘Criminal’ and Demands that He Be Arrested

The legal quagmire that is engulfing Donald Trump has been a source of debilitating anxiety for him as he spends his days in court scowling and sobbing that he is a victim of meanies in the justice system who are out to get him because he is so universally beloved. And at every opportunity he falsely accuses his “persecutors” of being controlled by the all-powerful President Biden who is somehow also a babbling incompetent.

Trump Fear

When you’re admitting that you’re losing to someone that you malign as so racked with senility that he “can’t put two sentences together,” you’re saying more about yourself and your own weaknesses than that of your adversary. But That’s what Trump is doing every time he castigates Biden. It’s also true about Trump’s attacks on others he fears and/or hates, such as special counsel Jack Smith.

MORE HERE: Trump’s Lawyer on Fox News Accuses Jack Smith of Contempt of Court – For Doing His Job

It’s notable that Trump never defends himself with actual evidence of his innocence. Rather, he just lashes out at his foes with infantile insults and nicknames, or repeats ad nauseum his insistence that all the charges against him are hoaxes. On Saturday morning Trump posted some comments on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, that reveal just how desperately he fears the fates that await him at the hands of the law.

Specifically, on this occasion, Trump is once again aiming his noxious wrath at Smith. In one post Trump shouts in all caps “ARREST DERANGED JACK SMITH. HE IS A CRIMINAL!” Trump’s “proof” comes in the form of a link to an article by an ultra-rightist website that asserts that Smith “tampered” with evidence. Trump elaborated on that baseless allegation in another post where he wrote that…

“It has always been clear that the ‘Documents Case’ is nothing but an Election Interference Scam concocted by Crooked Joe Biden, Deranged Jack Smith, and their Hacks and Thugs. Now, Deranged Jack has admitted in a filing in front of Judge Cannon to what I have been saying happened since the Illegal RAID on my home, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida – That he and his team committed blatant Evidence Tampering by mishandling the very Boxes they used as a pretext to bring this Fake Case. These deeply Illegal actions by the Politicized ‘Persecutors’ mandate that this whole Witch Hunt be DROPPED IMMEDIATELY. END THE ‘BOXES HOAXES.’ MAGA2024!”

There is a lot of bull manure to unpack in that posting. Let’s start with the fact that Smith never admitted to any evidence tampering. Also, there was nothing illegal about the search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago bunker. There was a lawful search warrant obtained after Trump repeatedly lied to the FBI about the classified documents he had stolen. Also, Biden had nothing whatsoever to do with any of it.

What’s more, the allegations that Trump is making are twisted misrepresentations of reality. A more factual account was reported by Politico who said that…

“Special counsel Jack Smith’s team acknowledged Friday that some evidence in the prosecution of former President Donald Trump for hoarding classified documents at his Florida home may not be in the same sequence FBI agents found it when they swept into the Mar-a-Lago compound with a search warrant in August 2022.”

In short, the contents of some of the boxes were not in the same order as the digital catalogues that were created. The verified explanation was that some of the contents had shifted during transport. In a few other cases some temporary placeholders were not removed when the permanent cover sheets were supplied. But in every case, the very same documents were in every box. Nothing was missing, and nothing had been altered. It was all minor errors on indexes that had no effect whatsoever on the evidence or the case.

So that’s what Trump is frantically yammering about that he believes warrants the arrest of Smith, and the dropping of all charges. It’s a position consistent with his aspirations of dictatorship, wherein he can incarcerate anyone he wants without justification, and be granted “total immunity” for any crime he feels like committing. Of course, all of that would be a travesty of justice and thoroughly anti-American. And it’s his fantasy of a tyrannical reign that he must never be allowed to achieve.

CRYBABY TRUMP Says ‘The Case is Going Fine,’ While Also Whining About How Badly It’s Going

As the second week of Donald Trump’s election interference (aka hush money) case winds up, Trump is providing a bit of legal analysis for the gathering press outside the courtroom. As usual, Trump’s perspective is utterly devoid of anything resembling reason, or for that matter, reality.

Donald Trump Circling the Drain

From the outset of the trial Trump has lambasted the judge, the prosecutors, witnesses, jurors, and of course, the media. His cranky condemnations led to multiple findings of contempt of court for violating his gag order. Trump was fined $9,000.00 for his mouthing off, and was warned that further such offenses could result in incarceration.

MORE HERE: Trump Casts Himself as ‘a Modern Day Nelson Mandela’ While Lashing Out at All of His Judges

In light of these events, Trump gave a laughably optimistic assessment of his legal prospects going forward. He began his courtside carping on Friday morning complaining about how dismally the case was proceeding. He specifically whines that prosecutors are trying to make it “salacious.” However, salaciousness is inescapable in any case that involves someone cheating on his wife with a porn star and a Playboy model, and paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to cover it up. Undeterred by reality, Trump’s rosy summation began…

“So I just want to tell you that the case is going fine. We have a corrupt D.A. We have a corrupt judge who shouldn’t be on this case. And it’s a disgrace to America. And it’s a disgrace to our court system.

“Going just fine” is an odd way of describing things that are allegedly mired in corruption and disgrace. Ignoring his own perversely positive outlook, Trump goes on yammering about how badly the case is actually going. He includes outright lies that he “won” the case on appeal, and that the judge was ignoring the determination by the appellate court. That, of course, didn’t happen.

What’s curious about all of this is how Trump explains that “the case is going fine” while simultaneously complaining about how awful everything is. It reveals a psychological malfunction that causes him to insist that he is always a winner, and that everything he does is successful. Even when the facts, as he himself presents them, are contrary to that preposterously sunny scenario. And we can expect that Trump will continue to boast about his unparalleled, albeit imaginary, triumphs straight through to the jury’s verdicts of his guilt. Because that’s how malignant narcissists handle their fantasy worlds.

Trump Finally Wakes Up Long Enough to Deny that He’s Been Sleeping During His Criminal Trial

One of the most extraordinary occurrences in legal proceedings has played out several times during Donald Trump’s trial for election interference for paying “hush money” to buy porn star Stormy Daniels’ silence. Trump has been observed falling asleep at the hearings that could determine his fate as potentially the first former president becoming a felon.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump

Throughout the proceedings Trump has held impromptu press avails outside of the court to whine about his being persecuted by President Biden (he’s not); the charges being all hoaxes (they’re not); the judge and the prosecutor being corrupt and/or biased (they aren’t); and even the unbearable cold of the courtroom (it isn’t). However, inside the court Trump has been something less than attentive.

SEE THIS: UNFIT TO SERVE: Trump and Fox News Whine that Sitting Up Straight All Day is Draining Trump’s Brain

Numerous reports have revealed that Trump has been falling asleep during the trial. They expressly note that he isn’t just resting his eyes, but that his head droops and he is noticeably shaken when roused. There are even reports that his attorneys have employed a variety of tactics to keep him awake.

Needless to say, these reports have surely infuriated the image-obsessed former reality TV game show host. However he has refrained from speaking out publicly about them. Until now. On Thursday morning Trump addressed this matter precisely how one might have expected him to do so. On his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, Trump wrote that…

“Contrary to the FAKE NEWS MEDIA, I don’t fall asleep during the Crooked D.A.’s Witch Hunt, especially not today. I simply close my beautiful blue eyes, sometimes, listen intensely, and take it ALL in!!!”

Predictably, Trump blames the entire controversy on the “FAKE NEWS MEDIA,” despite the fact that even his MAGA media supporters have acknowledged his nodding off and portrayed it is evidence of his greatness. Seth Myers captured some of this cultish veneration in his “Closer Look” segment…

Notice also that Trump can’t simply lie about his humiliating slumbering. He additionally needs to flatter himself with compliments about his shuttered eyes. And considering the obviously unnatural hues of his skin and hair, who knows what color his eyes really are.

Finally, the notion that Trump can “listen intently” to anything that isn’t exalting him is impossible to take seriously. In his courtside analyses he never references anything that actually happened in the trial. He merely repeats his tedious rants about “witch hunts” and “sham justice.” And that he can do without having to go to the trouble of staying awake and paying attention. Then, fully rested, Trump can jet back to his Mar-a-Lago bunker, or to another cult rally where his speeches are so repetitious that he can virtually sleep through them too.

The Supreme Court Immunity Case is Even Scarier Knowing Trump Threatened to Execute His Critics

Last week the Supreme Court heard arguments on whether a president is entitled to immunity for any crimes he or she may commit while in office. Donald Trump has been frantically posting dozens of utterly ludicrous demands for such immunity because he’s currently facing 88 felony charges for violating laws ranging from campaign finance, to election interference, to inciting an insurrection, and even the Espionage Act.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump

Trump’s signature whining consists entirely of his ridiculous belief that a president cannot function if he has to worry about being prosecuted for unlawful activities. But worrying about being held accountable for criminal acts (e.g. deterrence) is one of the main reasons we have laws. What’s more, not a single president prior to Trump has ever asked for or needed immunity in order to make the difficult decisions required of them.

SEE THIS: Trump Says All Presidents Must Have ‘Total Immunity’ from Crimes – Except for President Biden

The Court specifically addressed certain ghastly hypotheticals in their questioning of Trump’s attorney. And his answers were troubling in the extreme. For instance…

Justice Sonia Sotomayor: If the president decides that his rival is a corrupt person and he orders the military to assassinate him, is that within his official acts for which he can give immunity?
Sauer: It would depend on the hypothetical, but we can see that could well be an official act.

Other equally disturbing scenarios that Trump’s lawyer sanctioned as deserving of immunity were staging a coup, fabricating false slates of electors, and selling nuclear secrets to foreign adversaries. Apparently no act of treason was too much for Trump or the right-wing Justices he appointed.

MORE HERE: Here’s a Summary of the Crimes Trump’s Lawyer Tells the Supreme Court He Has Immunity to Commit

What makes all of this ever more frightening is that it transcends the realm of the hypothetical. In an interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Trump’s former Attorney General, Bill Barr, was asked about a report that he was present when Trump suggested executing an actual person who was suspected of leaking information. Which led to the following exchange…

Collins: Do you remember that?
Barr: I remember him being very mad about that. I actually don’t remember him saying, executing. But I wouldn’t dispute it, you know? I mean, it doesn’t sound — I mean, the President would lose his temper and say things like that. I doubt he would have actually carried it out. I don’t, you know.
Collins: But he would say that on other occasions? You said he would lose his temper.
Barr: The President, you know, the President had a — I think people sometimes took him too literally. And he would say things like, similar to that on occasions, to blow off steam. But I wouldn’t take him literally every time he did it.
Collins: Why not?
Barr: Because at the end of the day, it wouldn’t be carried out, and you could talk sense into him.
Collins: But just because it’s not carried out, and you could talk sense into him, doesn’t that still mean that the threat is there?

So Trump has actually considered assassinating Americans who he regards as political foes. This is no longer just fanciful musing. And Barr’s dismissal of Trump’s overt threats is pitifully weak. What would happen in another Trump administration wherein there was no one to talk him out of his murderous intentions? Which, by the way, is precisely the sort of administration that Trump is already planning, should he be reelected. It’s one that would be populated by unflinching loyalists vetted by his family and cult confederates.

Putting together Trump’s already articulated desire to rule as a brutal tyrant in the mold of his hero, Vladimir Putin, with the acceptance by the conservative Justices on the Supreme Court of such barbaric acts, paints a dire picture of what the United States would become under another Trump regime.

It would effectively make Trump an untouchable dictator, capable of monstrous savagery. Or, as he puts it, “retribution” for the wrongs he believes have been inflicted on him. But it would not be anything remotely recognizable as the America described by its Founders, its Constitution, or the aspirations of its citizens. And it must not be permitted to occur. If the Courts will not prevent it, the people must do so by voting overwhelmingly for democracy and liberty and justice.

Which means voting for Democrats up and down the ballot. Because Republicans like Barr, and Lindsey Graham, and Ted Cruz, and Mike Johnson, and Marjorie Taylor Greene, et al, ad infinitum, are all committed to Trump even if he’s convicted of felonious crimes. They’ve said so. Believe them.

Here’s a Summary of the Crimes Trump’s Lawyer Tells the Supreme Court He Has Immunity to Commit

After a needless delay of several weeks, the Supreme Court has finally assembled to hear arguments over whether Donald Trump can be held accountable for the crimes he committed while occupying the White House. He is asserting that an imaginary doctrine of “presidential immunity” relieves him of any responsibility for his overtly anti-democratic actions.

Donald Trump, Constitution

Trump has been extraordinarily anxious about this case. He has spent weeks posting dozens of comments on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, regurgitating ad infinitum the same complaints that without immunity a president would be subject to legal consequences for unlawful behavior. Which, to Trump’s dismay, is exactly what the Constitution requires, and the American people overwhelmingly support.

MORE HERE: Felonious Punk Trump Demands ‘TOTAL IMMUNITY’ – Even for Acts that ‘CROSS THE LINE’

On Thursday the Supreme Court heard the case and engaged in a lively debate with the lawyers representing Trump and special counsel Jack Smith. What follows are a few of the notable questions by the Justices. The answers provided by Trump’s attorney, D. John Sauer, are so patently preposterous that they require no further commentary.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor: If the president decides that his rival is a corrupt person and he orders the military to assassinate him, is that within his official acts for which he can give immunity?
Sauer: It would depend on the hypothetical, but we can see that could well be an official act.

Justice Elena Kagan: How about if the president orders the military to stage a coup?
Sauer: If one adopted the test we advanced, that might well be an official act.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor: What is plausible about the president assisting in creating a fraudulent slate of electoral candidates? Is that plausible that would be within his right to do?
Sauer: Absolutely.

Justice Elena Kagan: If a president sells nuclear secrets to a foreign adversary, is that immune?
Sauer: If it’s structured as an official act, he would have to be impeached and convicted first.

And there you have it. The official position of Donald Trump is that he has a right to assassinate his opponents or judges, or journalists; to stage coups against the U.S. government; to undermine democracy by manufacturing slates of fake electors; and to sell nuclear secrets to Russia or any other unfriendly entity. And he believes he should be able to do all of that and more without any consequences, legally or otherwise.

That’s a position for which there is no justification in the Constitution. Moreover, it is also contrary to the long held doctrine that no one in America is above the law. It would effectively make any president who invokes it an untouchable dictator. Which is, of course, precisely why Trump is pursuing it.

Any of the Justices who might be entertaining a finding in Trump’s favor should be careful. Although that would relieve Trump of his current legal problems. It would also give him unprecedented and dangerous powers were he to be reelected. However, it would give President Biden those powers right now.

Are they sure that they want that? Biden, of course, would never consider any of the abhorrent actions that Trump’s lawyer asserts would be permitted. But Biden could find some other less controversial measures to undertake in the defense of democracy that Trump and his conservative justices would find objectionable, including replacing those Justices. Just the prospect of that should lead them to a proper, constitutional conclusion. We’ll see.

UNFIT TO SERVE: Trump and Fox News Whine that Sitting Up Straight All Day is Draining Trump’s Brain

The 2024 presidential election has been fraught with concern about the age of the candidates and whether that would impact their ability to endure the unique burdens of the job. President Biden has demonstrated his competence by presiding over one of the most productive administrations is modern times.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Wah

Donald Trump, on the other hand, cannot point to a single achievement during his occupation of the White House other than tragically mismanaging the COVID pandemic, cutting taxes for the wealthy, losing more jobs than any other president since Hoover, Adding eight trillion dollars to the deficit, and appointing justices who rolled back reproductive rights for women. And since he left office he’s been singularly focused on his “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was “rigged and stolen” from him, and avoiding prison for his 88 pending felony charges.

SEE THIS: Trump Says All Presidents Must Have ‘Total Immunity’ from Crimes – Except for President Biden

The question of competence arose again this week while Trump has been in court for his first criminal trial. And among those who doubt Trump’s ability to perform is, surprisingly, one of the most prominent Trump-fluffers on Fox News, Jesse Watters. During his primetime program Watters offered what he presumably thought was a defense of Trump’s ordeal in court, saying that Democrats are conspiring against him by forcing him to attend the trial like any other defendant…

“They’re draining his brain and his body. Now, I don’t like to sit. They say sitting is the new smoking. You’re going to take a man who is usually golfing or in action, and you’re going to sit him in a chair in freezing temperatures and just let people rip you and you can’t say anything? Four days a week, eight hours a day — that takes a toll.”

First of all, It isn’t Biden or Democrats who are responsible for Trump suffering the indignity of “sitting” in court. It is first and foremost Trump’s responsibility for violating the law. And there is no evidence that Democrats were involved in the law catching up with him. His indictments were issued by a panel of citizens on a grand jury.

More to the point, if Watters thinks that sitting quietly in a courtroom for a few hours a day will “drain Trump’s brain and body,” what would sitting through weeks of negotiations with Congress or foreign leaders do to him? Watters is inadvertently, but effectively, arguing that Trump is unfit to serve as president.

What’s more, Watters is trying to invent a version of a vigorous, athletic Trump that doesn’t exist in reality. But at the same time he’s asserting that Trump is a frail flower that can’t tolerate a chilly courtroom. Watters also portrays Trump as being too fragile to withstand the testimony of some of his own former friends and associates. According to Watters, Trump will wither in this scenario because the sitting and the temperature and the exposition of the truth “takes a toll” on the tenderness of Trump. That’s not exactly a profile of the presidential strength required of anyone aspiring to the post.

Earlier the same day on his other Fox News show, “The Five,” Watters painted a similarly weak picture of Trump saying that…

“Trump needs exercise. He’s usually golfing and you’re going to put a man who’s almost 80 sitting in a room like this on his butt for all that time? It’s not healthy. He needs sunlight. He needs activity. It’s really cruel and unusual punishment.”

Watters is actually arguing that it is “cruel and unusual punishment” for criminal defendants like Trump to have to attend their trials rather than play golf in the sunshine. What an atrocity! And he asserts that Trump’s health will suffer if he can’t do that every day. Never mind that Trump’s “exercise” consists of riding around in a golf cart for a couple hours, before lining up at the Mar-a-Lago buffet for some fried chicken and diet soda.

For his part, Trump is echoing Watters’ opinions. He frequently holds impromptu press avails when court isn’t in session (which the press really needs to stop doing). And on Tuesday Trump complained to reporters that…

“I’m here in a courtroom, sitting here. Sitting up as straight as I can all day long. It’s a very unfair situation.”

It’s so unfair to make Trump sit up straight at his criminal trial when, according to reports, all he wants to do is nap, or when he can stay awake, to scowl menacingly at others in the courtroom. Why can’t people just leave Trump alone so he can hold his cult rallies and hobnob with rich folks who are looking for favors from the government?

Apparently it’s just too much ask ask someone who wants to be president to pay attention in the courtroom where he’s being tried on serious felonies. Yet Trump and Fox News and the MAGA minions think that such a person is competent to serve as president. Perhaps all of their brains have already been drained.

Crybaby Trump is Miffed that His MAGA Cult Isn’t Storming the Courts to Protest His Persecution

On the first day of testimony in Donald Trump’s election interference (aka “hush money”) trial in New York, the defendant sat ruefully contemplating his fate. When he wasn’t nodding off, he is reported to have appeared tired and annoyed as the opening statements were delivered.

Trump’s attorney embarked on a bold strategy to argue that reimbursing his lawyer for a $130,000.00 payment to buy the silence of a porn star in order to improperly influence an election, then lying about it on his financial reports, had nothing to with him. Of course not. He’s just a pure-hearted, selfless, martyr trying to save America.

SEE THIS: Trump Casts Himself as ‘a Modern Day Nelson Mandela’ While Lashing Out at All of His Judges

As the trial proceeds, Trump is undergoing some severe stress and annoyance at how his MAGA cult is failing to sufficiently support him in his hour of need. On Monday morning he took to his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, to whip them into shape and incite them into taking more forceful action on his behalf. Trump wrote that…

“America Loving Protesters should be allowed to protest at the front steps of Courthouses, all over the Country, just like it is allowed for those who are destroying our Country on the Radical Left, a two tiered system of justice. Free Speech and Assembly has been ‘CHILLED’ for USA SUPPORTERS. GO OUT AND PEACEFULLY PROTEST. RALLY BEHIND MAGA. SAVE OUR COUNTRY! ‘THE ONLY THING YOU HAVE TO FEAR IS FEAR ITSELF.'”

Trump is implying that “America Loving” protesters (which in his noxious narcissism means “Trump loving”) are not being “allowed” to gather to support him. But who is stopping them? There just isn’t any real enthusiasm among his minions to show up. So in his dismay over the tepid turnout, Trump is trying to fire up his flock the way he did on January 6, 2021, for the insurrection at the Capitol. Only this time he wants them to crash courthouses across the country.

It’s a safe bet that Trump will not get his wish. There have not been any notable demonstrations at any of the trials or hearings held for Trump in the past. Protesters have regularly been outnumbered by reporters. Which, while it’s something that Trump enjoys to exploit, it doesn’t translate into support or, eventually, votes. To the contrary, it is likely alienating more people, who increasingly find Trump to be repugnant and unrelatable. And that’s despite the characterization that Trump’s lawyer made about him in court Monday morning…

UPDATE: Trump is whining Tuesday morning about his cult disciples not coming out to support him. And he’s blaming it on — — the police?

Trump Desperately Clings to Fox News Legal Hacks Who Ignore the Law to Fluff Trump

There is now a predictable ritual that occurs every time that Donald Trump makes an appearance in court. Immediately following the hearing Trump ambles out to a nearby rabble of reporters gathered to record his post-trial rants (and the press really needs to stop doing that). With the jury now selected we can expect to see these staged sniveling sessions on a near daily basis for the next few weeks.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Fox News

Never mind that there is never anything newsworthy to report from these disgorgements of grievances. It’s just Trump repeating the same complaints he does whenever a camera is pointed at him. He’s either crying about being a helpless victim or falsely accusing everyone from the judge to the prosecutors to the witnesses to the jury, of being biased against him in what he insists is a “rigged” trial that he should never have had to endure.

SEE THIS: Trump Says All Presidents Must Have ‘Total Immunity’ from Crimes – Except for President Biden

On Thursday Trump brought some props to his circus act. He awkwardly rifled through a stack of printouts someone provided for him of articles from sycophantic right-wing media. He was presenting them as “proof” that the charges against him were unfounded. But they were pretty weak evidence. He read off a few of his sources, and they were all Fox News legal analysts…

“Jonathan Turley. Gregg Jarrett. Andrew McCarthy. Every one of them saying, they call it a zombie case, meaning it is no case. And they say it’s unconstitutional. They don’t think the case is…These are all stories that have taken place over the last few days.”

Well then, that settles it. Dismiss the case and let Trump return to the comfort of his Mar-a-Lago bunker. He later claimed that these article represented all of the opinions about his case, saying that “I haven’t seen one that says it’s a good trial.”

Apparently Trump has a very narrow field of vision. He obviously hasn’t seen the opinions of respected legal experts like Lawrence Tribe, Andrew Weissmann, Joyce Vance, Neal Katyal, Michael Luttig, Barbara McQuade, Glenn Kirschner, Jill Wine-Banks, and even his own former attorney, Ty Cobb. All of whom regard the case against Trump as strong and likely to lead to a conviction.

As affirmation that what Trump is doing is a joke, his courtside spectacle was addressed by Jimmy Kimmel in his monologue Thursday night, who noted that…

“The MAGA media, they’re doing everything they can to push this idea that this won’t be a fair trial. That way, when he loses, they can say the jury was rigged.”

Then Kimmel played a series of clips of people on Fox News and Newsmax insisting that Trump can’t a get fair trial because Manhattan is chock full of Trump haters. Which is interesting, because Trump is also saying this….

It’s also interesting that these Trump-fluffers in the wingnut press are baselessly alleging that liberals are lying to get on the jury, but they never mention the possibility of Trump cultists doing so. Even though some MAGA crackpots are explicitly encouraging it.

Clearly the only threat to a fair trial is being posed by Trump and his MAGA minions. Along with those who are trying to taint the jury, there people like Sean Hannity and Jesse Watters who are trying to intimidate prospective jurors by revealing identifying information about them on the air.

Hopefully their tactics won’t work, and the trial will proceed to a fair conclusion. And hopefully, in the interim, the media will refrain from airing Trump’s sideshow antics during the intermissions.

Fox News Totally Flubs (i.e. Lies) About How Jury Biases Would Impact Trump’s Hush Money Trial

On Monday jury selection began for the first ever criminal trial of a former American president. It’s only the beginning of Donald Trump’s legal tribulations as there are three more criminal trials gearing up that could make him the first ever former president felon. The so-called “Hush Money” case – which could more accurately be called the “Election Interference” case – is just the first one out of the gate.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Constitution

Trump has been spending these days whining pitifully that he is a poor beleaguered victim of a corrupt judicial system that he says is determined to destroy him. Never mind that he is the cause of his troubles due to his relentless criminal activities and behavior that exhibits a consciousness of guilt. He even issues public confessions admitting that he has done what he’s accused of, but claiming that he’s allowed to under an imaginary doctrine of “presidential Immunity.”

SEE THIS: Felonious Punk Trump Demands ‘TOTAL IMMUNITY’ – Even for Acts that ‘CROSS THE LINE’

Jury selection in high profile cases like these are always complicated as attorneys on both sides seek to assemble a panel that will not be biased against against their client (the defendant or the state). In this particular case that is even trickier because Trump’s supporters are fully indoctrinated cult members who can be expected to deceive the court in order get on the jury and save their Dear Leader from clutches of justice.

To that end, Fox News is contributing to the problem by disparaging the court and encouraging misbehavior by prospective Trump jurors. Fox News contributor Clay Travis actually suborned perjury by advising potential jurors to “do whatever you can to get seated” on the jury.

But that’s just for starters. Fox News also interviewed law professor and Trump toady, John Yoo, who gave an utterly bizarre analysis of the jury selection process, saying that…

“I think it’s pretty extraordinary in the very first jury pool, before you interview anybody, half of the jury pool already says that they’re so biased against President Trump that they can’t serve on the jury…That’s only going to feed into, I think, Donald Trump’s claim that the public integrity of court’s and the prosecutors is to be questioned as biased and unfair against them.”

First of all, it is a flagrant lie that half of the jury was dismissed because they were biased against Trump. The truth is that prospective jurors completed a questionnaire that asked several questions to ascertain whether they had “any” strong opinions about, or association with Trump.

One question specifically asked, “Is there any reason, whether it be a bias or something else, that would prevent you from being fair and impartial if you are selected as a juror for this case?” Judge Merchan also asked for a show of hands of those who believed that they could not be fair and impartial. Those who raised their hands or otherwise indicated an inability to be impartial were dismissed.

Note that none of these inquiries indicated whether a bias was in favor of or against Trump. Just whether any bias existed either way. So, contrary to Woo’s analysis, it is just as likely that supporters of Trump were dismissed for bias as opponents.

But Yoo’s analysis was also flawed logically, in that he asserted that dismissing those who were biased against Trump would disadvantage him. What? Quite obviously the opposite is true. If only people who were biased against Trump were dismissed, leaving him with a jury comprised of his supporters, that would be an enormous advantage for him.

Despite the efforts of the court to ensure a fair trial, Trump and Fox News keep whining that Trump can’t get an impartial jury of his peers in New York. They seem to think that “peers” means political allies. Trump’s team is fixated on smearing the judicial system, this court, and the jurors. And Trump’s press secretary made that clear in an appearance on Newsmax Tuesday morning…

Let’s face it. The Trump team is already convinced that they are going to lose. so they are pulling out all the stops to demean the courts and dismiss the findings of the jury. But they are so frightened by their fate that they have lost all ability to make coherent arguments. So sad.

WHUT? Fox News Drools Over the Distemper Tantrum Tirades of Trump as ‘Respecting the Court’

The extraordinary ability of Fox News to justify any and every atrocity of Donald Trump has been well documented from the first day that he descended on his goldish escalator to announce his American Carnage campaign to occupy the White House and gather all glory unto his exaltedness.

Donald Trump Fox News

It would be difficult to rank the abominations that Trump has been responsible for over the years. But whether it was his deadly mismanagement of the COVID pandemic, or his crashing the U.S. economy, or his abhorrent bigotry and assaults on civil rights, Fox News was always there to try clean it up and present his failures as miracles by the messiah of Mar-a-Lago.

On Monday morning Trump was in a New York courtroom as the first ever former U.S. president to be tried for criminal acts. He was typically furious and frightened as he lashed out the judge, the prosecutors, and the witnesses. Beginning at 5:39 AM ET, Trump posted more than 60 comments on his floundering social media scam, Truth social, in a pitiful display of desperation and impotence. So leave it to Fox News to rush to his rescue with a crackpot commentary provided by Harris Faulkner, co-host of Fox’s Outnumbered…

“One bottom line for Donald Trump today. this is the weakest of the cases. So no matter how he goes forward it is rather uphill. And I liked what he said earlier. I like when any defendant talks this way. ‘It is my honor. It’s a pleasure to be here.’ Respecting the court.”

First of all, Faulkner is in no position to grade the strength or weakness of Trump’s legal cases, since she regards all of them as unwarranted. In her view, like that of all MAGA cultists, Trump is the epitome of purity and innocence. But more to the point, Faulkner’s slobbering praise of Trump as someone who is “Respecting the court” is downright delusional.

Has Faulkner ever heard anything that Trump has said about the courts and the prosecutors that are conducted his trials? He has repeatedly maligned them as “corrupt” and “crooked” and “biased” and “Trump-hating” and “conflicted” and generally unscrupulous and unfair. He has attacked the judges, attorneys, and witnesses personally, resulting in his being slapped with a gag order (that he may already have violated). And he has even attacked the as yet unnamed jurors who he assumes will be anti-Trump.

So where is Faulkner getting the idea that Trump respects the court? Well, from her statement she is getting it from comments he made Monday morning before court. She lauds him for saying that it is his “honor” and “pleasure” to be there. There’s just one problem with that. He never said either of those things. What Trump did say was another attack on the court that he portrayed as a “political persecution” that he was “proud” to be battling against.

“It’s an assault on America. And that’s why I’m very proud to be here. This is an assault on our country. And it’s a country that’s failing. It’s a country that’s being run by an incompetent man who is very much involved in this case.”

Where is the “respect” in calling the proceedings “an assault on America”? Where is the “respect” in falsely charging that the judge is improperly coordinating with President Biden? In short, what the f**k is Faulkner talking about?

Trump doesn’t know the meaning of “respect,” unless it’s intended to be lavished on him by glassy-eyed sycophants like Faulkner, despite his having done nothing to earn it. Although Fox News deserves some respect for being able to dispense this kind of bullpucky with a straight face.
