Matt Gaetz Drools Over Defunding Law Enforcement ‘If They Do Not Come to Heel’ to the Trump GOP

For a political party that has spent years chastising Democrats for advocating a policy of reallocating funds for law enforcement – sloganized by the GOP as “defunding the police” – Republicans sure have embraced that policy with open arms. And not to address the epidemic of citizens getting shot by cops, but to escape justice for crimes committed by Trump and other Republicans.

At this year’s gathering of of the Conservative Political Action Cult (CPAC), the roster of fringy, QAnon extremists are excitedly espousing their hostilities at President Biden and all things Democratic. While the crowd is enthusiastic, it is also noticeably thin, with many empty seats, as attendance has sharply declined. That, even though the it’s keynote speaker is once again Donald Trump, who enticed prospective attendees with his dystopian choice of topics:

While awaiting the headliner on Saturday, the conference crowd was “entertained” by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Perv). And he surely didn’t disappoint this screwball assembly. Gaetz thrilled his audience with the sort of rancid rhetoric that has made him a popular draw among the wingnut set. He began by affirming his opposition to law and order…

“We either get this government back on our side, or we defund and get rid of, abolish, the FBI, CDC, ATF, DOJ, every last one of them if they do not come to heel.”

That’s right. Gaetz wants to abolish every federal agency charge with fighting crime and keeping Americans safe from lowlifes like – well, like Matt Gaetz.

Notice also that Gaetz isn’t issuing his ultimatum in pursuit of fair justice and the rule of law. He is demanding that America’s legal system favor the radical right by getting “government back on our side,” and forcing them to “come to heel” to a right-wing autocracy. And if you think that’s bad, he was just getting started. Gaetz went on to rant that…

“It is no longer time to go back to the old low-energy Paul Ryan, Trey Gowdy days of fake oversight, these are the Jim Jordan, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz days.”

Holy Crap! That’s downright frightening. Gaetz just name-dropped the three most repulsive, Trump-worshipping members of the GOP Congress. Then he followed that up with an overtly anti-democratic threat…

“And if the Democrats are going to obstruct our investigation, then I am calling to remove the Democrats from our investigation. They should not be allowed to sit in the depositions and hear the evidence, that they are going to try to use that to get in the way of thorough, rigorous oversight. And I don’t believe that means hearings where we yell at people. That means a fundamental reshaping of this government.”

In other words, Gaetz – who frequently yells at people at hearings – is proposing a straight up fascist reshaping of America where only his side has any legislative power to conduct oversight or to draft laws. This is consistent with his colleague, Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has proposed the same sort of political tyranny…

To be accurate, the only thing that Gaetz is worried about with regard to “get[ting] in the way of thorough, rigorous oversight,” is the prospect of Trump and other Republicans being held accountable for their criminal misconduct. He wants to make sure that he and his ilk are free to violate any laws they want with impunity. While simultaneously ensuring that Democrats are persecuted over phony allegations.

What’s worse, is that Gaetz has the support of the Republican “leadership” in the House. Newly anointed House Squeaker, Kevin McCarthy, has become the willing puppet of Gaetz, Greene, and the rest of the QAnon Caucus. He needs their votes to remain in the Speaker’s chair. Which is why he approves of the ultra-MAGA dogma. And it’s why he embraces the totalitarian, one-partyism of dictators.

Trump Teases His Uplifting CPAC Speech Celebrating ‘The Fact That Our Country is Going to HELL’

It’s that time of year again. The annual Conservative Political Action Cult (CPAC) is holding their right-wing revival meeting at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Make up your own jokes about the party of homophobes gathering at the “Gaylord.”

Naturally, Donald Trump will once again be their keynote speaker because who else better represents the pitiful paucity of CPAC principles than the twice-impeached, pathologically lying, septuagenarian toddler, and former reality TV game show host, Donald Joyful Trump?

Trump promoted his CPAC performance in a post on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, saying that…

“I will be at CPAC on Saturday, talking about the fact that, obviously, our Country is going to ‘HELL,’ and how to fix it. Also, the Democrats use of Radical Left Prosecutors and the WEAPONIZATION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT.”

What an inspiring theme around which to shape the message of his candidacy for the 2024 Republican Party nomination for president. It’s reminiscent of his brutally bleak 2016 “American Carnage” inaugural address. It also builds on the ideas he presented in his 2024 announcement speech last November that was so well received by anti-American doomsayers everywhere:

That announcement rant by Trump was typically riddled with lies, self-exaltation, and infantile insults. And despite the massive dose of melodrama, it was painfully dull. Trump was at his dystopian worst, warning of an America that is plagued by “blood-soaked streets” in “cesspool cities.” And now it is going to hell, a warning he has issued many times before.

As for CPAC, it is said to be suffering from Trump Fatigue Syndrome. Many conference regulars of the past are skipping the affair this year. And those that are attending are especially fringy and unabashedly Trumpian. Which leaves the event calendar looking pretty dull…

GOOD LUCK: Democratic Leaders Call On Rupert Murdoch to Stop Fox News From Spreading Lies

This week America learned that Fox News executives and hosts knowingly deceived their viewers about election fraud in support of Donald Trump and his “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged and stolen” from him. The revelations came with the release of depositions from the defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems against Fox News.

The testimony in those depositions affirmed that Fox News CEO Rupert Murdoch, as well as hosts Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham, etc., knew very well that there was no truth to their “reporting” of fraud in the 2020 presidential election. While they were lying to their viewers, they were discussing privately among themselves about the “crazy” and “idiotic” assertions that Trump had actually won.

Most rational media observers already knew that Fox News has never been a news network. They were created as a right-wing propaganda organ by Murdoch and Roger Ailes. However, this may be the first time that we have principles at Fox admitting that they are lying propagandists, and we have it in their own words. Not surprisingly, Trump is very upset by these developments…

UH-OH: Trump Blasts Rupert Murdoch for ‘Throwing His Anchors Under the Table’ in Election Fraud Lawsuit

In the wake of these scandalous disclosures, Democratic leaders in Congress are going on record with their objections to the confirmation of Fox’s purposeful dishonesty. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries made their positions clear in a letter to Murdoch, demanding that the network “stop spreading false election narratives and admit on the air that they were wrong to engage in such negligent behavior.” The letter pressed Murdoch saying that…

“As noted in your deposition released yesterday Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and other Fox News personalities knowingly, repeatedly, and dangerously endorsed and promoted the Big Lie that Donald Trump won the 2020 presidential election [and that] network hosts continue to promote, spew, and perpetuate election conspiracy theories to this day.”

The letter noted that Fox’s hosts continue “to peddle election denialism to the American people.” This is the sort of pernicious pulp fiction employed by Trump that incited the January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C., as well as numerous other subsequent acts domestic terrorism by the radical right. Schumer and Jeffries recognized the impending threat saying that…

“This sets a dangerous precedent that ignores basic journalistic fact-checking principles and public accountability. This is even more alarming after Speaker McCarthy is reportedly allowing Tucker Carlson to review highly sensitive security camera footage of the events surrounding the violent January 6 insurrection.

“We demand that you direct Tucker Carlson and other hosts on your network to stop spreading false election narratives and admit on the air that they were wrong to engage in such negligent behavior.”

The letter goes on to warn that the dishonesty of Fox News “weakens faith in our democracy and hurts our country in countless other ways.” And it closes by insisting that Murdoch take action to repair the damage he and his network have caused…

“Fox News executives and all other hosts on your network have a clear choice. You can continue a pattern of lying to your viewers and risking democracy or move beyond this damaging chapter in your company’s history by siding with the truth and reporting the facts. We ask that you make sure Fox News ceases disseminating the Big Lie and other election conspiracy theories on your network.”

Schumer and Jeffries are saying all the right things. Unfortunately, it would be naïve to expect Murdoch, or anyone else at Fox News, to cooperate or to concede wrongdoing. They have established that they are more interested in disseminating conservative propaganda and profiting off of deceiving their audience, than in telling the truth or acting in the best interests of the country. That would require some sense of ethics. Plus, they are terrified of Donald Trump and his glassy-eyed cult followers.

In fact, they are so frightened that that they have forbidden the matter of the Dominion lawsuit to even be mentioned on the air. Which is just another way that they can keep their viewers ignorant and riled up by phony trivialities.

Trump Blasts Rupert Murdoch for ‘Throwing His Anchors Under the Table’ in Election Fraud Lawsuit

Donald Trump was up very early on Tuesday morning to cry petulantly about how his former Ministry of Propaganda – aka Fox News – was not living up to his egomaniacal expectations of unflinchingly worshipful adoration. It’s a complaint that Trump unleashes whenever anyone fails to recognize his perceived messianic divinity.

The bug up Trump’s butt on this occasion was that new details of the deposition given by Fox News boss, Rupert Murdoch, in the defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems, were made public. And those details affirmed that Murdoch and the hosts of his Fox News network knew very well that they were lying when they told viewers that there was fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

Of course, Trump cannot restrain himself whenever the facts that his “Big Lie” that the election was “rigged and stolen” from him are exposed. Particularly if those facts are delivered by people that he thinks should be compulsorily beholden to him. Which, in his cartoon brain, is everybody. Consequently he posted on his floundering Twitter clone, Truth Social…

“Why is Rupert Murdoch throwing his anchors under the table, which also happens to be killing his case and infuriating his viewers, who will again be leaving in droves – they already are. There is MASSIVE evidence of voter fraud & irregularities in the 2020 Presidential Election. Just look at the documentary ‘2000 MULES’ and you will see large scale ballot stuffing caught on government cameras, or votes cast without Legislatures approval, or just recently, the FBI/Twitter Files Scandal. RIGGED!!!”

There is an abundance of derp in that rant. Beginning with Trump’s mangling of the idiom about being “thrown under the bus.” Being under a table is something else entirely.

More to the point, Trump is aghast that Murdoch would say things during a deposition, under oath, that reflect badly on Fox News, and more importantly, on Trump. Trump takes any suggestion that the 2020 election was legitimate as a personal attack. However, Murdoch had no choice but to tell the truth, or be liable for perjury.

The result was a trove of testimony that does indeed strengthen Dominions case. Such as conceding that Fox News hosts (Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham, Maria Bartiromo, Lou Dobbs, etc.) “endorsed” the false claim that the 2020 election was stolen. And allowing Trump lawyers Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell on air to lie about Dominion.

Literally everything else in Trump’s post was untrue. There was no “MASSIVE evidence of voter fraud.” If there were he would have presented it by now. The “2000 MULES” crocumentary has been totally debunked. And the “Twitter Files” were a pathetically contrived nothingburger.

However, Trump was just getting started. He posted a second comment on this subject a few minutes later that repeated the same false allegations of election fraud, and continued his chastising of Murdoch and Fox News, saying that…

“They look too scared and frightened to reveal the massive amounts of voter fraud & Irregularities already found, and it would actually help them in the lawsuit. Instead FoxNews wants to silence its anchors and reporters.”

Trump is actually right, but not about what he thinks he’s right about. Fox News may not have wanted to silence its anchors when they were lying about election fraud, but they do want to silence them now…

Trump’s morning caterwauling isn’t going to win him any converts. It is just more of the tedious yammering he’s been putting out since he was evicted from the White House two years ago. In all that time he has failed to produce the “massive amounts of voter fraud” he claims to have found. And he lost 60 court cases in his futile effort to overturn the election and undermine democracy. But he obviously intends to continue down this pitiful path, oblivious to the fact that it’s only going to hurt himself and the Republican Party that kowtows to him.

UPDATE: Trump posted (and deleted) another attack on Murdoch, saying that if he doesn’t believe that the 2020 election was “was not Rigged & Stollen” (sic) he should “get out of the News Business as soon as possible, because they are aiding & abetting the DESTRUCTION OF AMERICA with FAKE NEWS.” When was Fox in the news business? Trump goes on to praise the “BRAVE & PATRIOTIC FoxNews Hosts [who] got it right.” However, those hosts were just revealed to have known that Trump’s election fraud claims were false and that they lied to their viewers. So yeah, they got it right privately, and lied about it in public.

LOL: Trump Says All Presidential Candidates (Except Himself) Should Take Mental Competency Tests

Here we go again. America’s self-anointed “stable genius,” Donald Trump, is once again demonstrating his acute narcissism and hysterical hypocrisy. As he embarks on his pursuit of the 2024 Republican Party nomination for president, Trump is setting the bar for all of the other candidates.

Recall that this advice being offered on sound psychological status is coming from the guy who believes that stealth fighters are actually invisible, that windmills cause cancer, that hurricanes should be nuked, that George Washington’s Army took over airports, and that injecting bleach will cure COVID. It’s not exactly a record of cognitive fitness.

Undaunted, Trump took to his floundering social media flop, Truth Social, to deliver his opinion on how presidential candidate’s qualifications should be considered…

“ANYBODY running for the Office of President of the United States should agree to take a full & complete Mental Competency Test simultaneously (or before!) with the announcement that he or she is running, & likewise, but to a somewhat lesser extent, agree to a test which would prove that you are physically capable of doing the job. Being an outstanding President requires great mental acuity & physical stamina. If you don’t have these qualities or traits, it is likely you won’t succeed. MAGA!”

Trump is right. Without those qualities you won’t succeed as president. In fact, he’s living proof of it. Now, perhaps the most sanity-challenged political figure of modern times wants his peers to be tested in order to be regarded as fit to serve. It’s likely that he thinks that a test he took previously – that was administered by a “doctor” who was hopelessly infatuated with Trump – sufficed to qualify his own candidacy.

However, that was not a “full & complete Mental Competency Test.” It was a simple test given to people who were being evaluated for early onset symptoms of dementia. It required him to identify an elephant from a picture, and recall five words. And we still don’t know whether he passed that test, other than by his own account, which is hardly believable. Plus, it was five years ago, when he was a sprightly 69 years old.

Trump is also not exactly a specimen of physical prowess. He needs two hands to drink from a glass of water. He can’t walk down a low incline without help. He mocks President Biden for riding bikes, while he won’t play a round of golf without his golf cart. And he refuses to exercise because he believes that it depletes the scarce resources of energy that you are born with.

It’s also notable that in his remarks, Trump narrowly defines those who should take the competency tests. According to Trump they should only be given “simultaneously (or before!) with the announcement that he or she is running.” Which is a sneaky way of excluding himself, since it is already well after he announced.

It’s also interesting that Trump is taking this position just a few days after his first announced opponent for the GOP nomination, Nikki Haley, declared that all politicians over 75 (which includes Trump) should be tested for mental fitness. In fact, her entire impetus for running is that she is younger than Trump. Which Trump, in his psychologically stable state of mind is taking exactly as you might expect…

House Squeaker Kevin McCarthy Hands Over 41,000 Hours of January 6th Video to – Tucker Carlson?

But despite their pitiful failure they persist in the pursuit of a wingnut theocracy with Donald Trump in their throne.

In his quest for the the speakership of the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy promised that he would release all of the video available of what he still refuses to admit was an insurrection. And consistent with his string of already broken promises, he has chosen to make those videos available only to Tucker Carlson of Fox news.

On Monday morning Axios reported that…

“House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has given Fox News’ Tucker Carlson exclusive access to 41,000 hours of Capitol surveillance footage from the Jan. 6 riot, McCarthy sources tell me.

“Carlson TV producers were on Capitol Hill last week to begin digging through the trove, which includes multiple camera angles from all over Capitol grounds. Excerpts will begin airing in the coming weeks.”

Seriously? If McCarthy thinks that giving Putin-loving, propagandist Carlson exclusive access to these videos is the same thing as releasing them to the public, he has succumbed to the same mental deterioration as his QAnon Caucus. Carlson will surely slice and dice what he receives in the most grotesquely biased manner. The public will only get to see what Carlson and Fox News serve up on their partisan platter.

Revelations of Fox’s dishonesty were recently disclosed in the defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems. In a motion for a summary judgment, Dominion published internal communications at Fox News showing that the hosts and executives never believed Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was “rigged and stolen” from him, even as they went on air proclaiming it as fact. And now they will want us to believe their misinterpretation of these videos?

As further proof of how ludicrous this is, Marjorie Taylor Greene was thrilled and tweeted that she was “very happy” with McCarthy for releasing the videos to Carlson because “Americans deserve to see the truth, not a one sided narrative and unfair two tiered justice system.”

Really? Even if McCarthy ends up releasing the videos to the public or other media, he has still benefited the Trumpists and insurrectionists by giving Carlson and Fox News a first look and a head start on injecting an entirely false narrative into the media ecosystem.

It would be bad enough if McCarthy merely released these videos to Fox News. But he could not have picked a worse person to dump them on than Tucker Carlson. Apparently McCarthy has forgiven him for calling him “a puppet of the Democratic Party.” Which is just another indication of McCarthy’s wet noodley weakness.

As for Carlson, he has made it his mission to spread flagrant lies about the January 6th insurrection. He’s celebrated the rioters as “patriots.” He’s maligned the FBI, without evidence, as the perpetrators of the violence. He even produced a lie-riddled crocumentary about the insurrection. And this is the person McCarthy chose to curate the thousands of hours of video to force feed their BS propaganda to the American people?

Nice work Kevin. You’ve selected someone who was deemed by his own attorneys to be so outrageously dishonest that they argued in court (successfully) that, given his reputation, “no reasonable person” would believe his bullpucky. And there’s more where that came from…

Trump Issues New Statement on His January 6th Insurrection Lies that Actually Affirms His Guilt

More than two years have passed since Donald Trump incited a violent and deadly insurrection against the United States. In the time that has elapsed, abundant evidence of Trump’s complicity has been presented by the press, by law enforcement, and by the House Select Committee investing the January 6th riots, most of whose witnesses were Republicans and former Trump staffers.

Trump, of course, has spent the past two years whining that he’s innocent and asserting that the whole thing is just another witch hunt and/or hoax. And on Wednesday morning he reanimated his raging with the release of a new ten page statement mostly rehashing the same tired untruths that he’s been peddling all along.

This latest chapter in Trump’s traitorous tale of villainy and victimhood wasn’t much more than a warmed over rerun of his prior prattling. However, he did feature a new wrinkle in the fabric of his fantasy fiction referencing the utterly contrived conclusions of Elon Musk’s “Twitter Files” document dumps. Trump began saying that…

“Recently, it was shockingly revealed that Twitter colluded with the FBI and other law enforcement agencies to Rig and Steal the 2020 Presidential Election in favor of Joe Biden, and to deplatform and illegally censor me.”

Contrary to Trump’s hyperbole, there were no revelations, shocking or otherwise, and no evidence of collusion with the FBI to “Rig and Steal the 2020 Presidential Election.” The only thing shocking about any of this is the dishonesty of Trump, Musk, and the hacks who worked for them.

But Trump was just getting started. He continued with his pitiful defense of the charges that he incited the riots in Washington, D.C. on January 6th. He claimed that he was the consummate peacemaker, saying that…

“The two exonerating Tweets, and the Rose Garden Video, which were posted in the early afternoon of January 6, 2021, and attempted to be hidden by the Unselect January 6th Committee, clearly and unquestionably state my desire that all protestors be peaceful and follow the Law.”

That’s a purposefully deceitful summary of the events on January 6th. First of all, he’s leaving out his hostile rhetoric at his speech on the Ellipse, where he told his cult followers that “We fight. We fight like hell. And if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.” As for his Twitter and video responses to the violence, aside from being weak and insincere, they weren’t released until long after the riots began and much damage was already done. According to the timeline…

12:53 p.m.: Rioters overwhelm police along the outer perimeter west of the Capitol building, pushing aside temporary fencing.
1:30 p.m.: Capitol Police are overwhelmed and retreat up the steps of the Capitol.
2:38 p.m.: President Trump tweets: Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!
3:13 p.m.: President Trump tweets: I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!
4:17 p.m.: Trump uploads an unscripted video to his Twitter denouncing the riot but maintaining the false claim that the election was stolen: “I know your pain, I know you’re hurt. We had an election that was stolen from us … But you have to go home now. We have to have peace … So go home. We love you. You’re very special.”

So at least two and half hours elapsed before Trump posted his tweets, and another two hours until his video appeal that gushed his love for the rioters. What’s more, Trump’s statement lies that the January 6th Committee suppressed his weak messages of peace, and that “Twitter followed the wishes of Joe Biden and the FBI in censoring me, and cancelling my account.”

Every word of that is false. The tweets may not have been available on Trump’s Twitter page because the account was suspended due its potential to incite further violence. But they were well documented and available elsewhere to anyone who was interested. Also, neither Biden nor the FBI had anything to do with Trump’s Twitter account being suspended. And finally, the January 6th Committee not only did not suppress those tweets, they highlighted them in the hearings.

This is all typical of Trump pathological compulsion to lie. However, his own account of events, when the facts are known, supplies actual evidence of his guilt. And in case anyone thought that the harm Trump is capable of is all in the past, note these recent comments that prove that he remains an imminent threat to the nation:

Fox News Hosts GOP Rep and Trump ‘Doctor’ to Complain that President Biden – Looks Too Healthy?

In the days following President Biden’s eloquent and well received State of the Union address, Republicans have had to dig deep to find the sort of preposterous pseudo-scandals that they need to incite their rabid base of Deplorables. Recent breaking stories on Fox News have included hard hitting journalism such as their scoop that Biden had an ice cream cone at a campaign stop, and that he dared to say that he’s optimistic about America’s future. Commence the impeachment hearings NOW!

On Friday Fox News aired a very special Hannity episode that featured an interview with Rep. Ronny Jackson of Texas. Prior to his election he was Donald Trump’s White House physician. Which he apparently thinks qualifies him to speak authoritatively about the health of Joe Biden, who he’s never examined and virulently hates. Jackson was especially suspicious about Biden’s observably robust demeanor and general fitness…

“To be honest with you, I think that there’s a medication. I want to know when he gets his physical done what medications is he actually on. Because he looks sometimes like he’s really jacked up something.”

It’s notable that Jackson is admitting that Biden appears to be in profoundly good health. It’s also notable that Jackson is profoundly disturbed by that fact. Consequently, he presumes that Biden must be on drugs, a presumption that Jackson pulled straight out of his assiduously anti-Biden predisposition.

That ingrown animosity would be bad enough, but Jackson was just getting started. He went on to diagnose Biden’s mental acuity based on his fashion accessories…

“And I want to know why he wears sunglasses all the time. Because, you know, one of the physical manifestation of Alzheimer’s and other cognitive diseases out there is that your pupils dilate and you have an issue accommodating to light. And I think there’s something going on here.”

What’s interesting about this clip is that, while Jackson is asserting that Biden “wears sunglasses all the time,” the accompanying video shows exactly the opposite. Biden is not wearing sunglasses in any of it. So Fox News couldn’t even find any b-roll of Biden to support Jackson’s ludicrous claims.

To be sure, Biden has posed for some photographs looking dapper in his Aviators, while cruising in his Corvette. But by far, most of his public appearances are sans sunglasses. Trump, on the other hand, must be the picture of health because he never wears sunglasses, even when looking straight into a solar eclipse.

The ludicrous diagnoses of Biden by Jackson are consistent with his reputation for bizarre medical analysis. As Trump’s White House doctor Jackson produced some laughably far-fetched findings as to Trump’s health. To begin with, he made the visibly absurd contention that Trump is 6’3″ and weighs 236 pounds. And following one of his physicals, Jackson gushed that Trump “has incredible genes” and “might live to be 200 years old,” despite his obesity, junk food diet, and aversion to exercise. And then there was the time that Jackson unleashed this malarkey…

Trump has praised Jackson, both as a congressman and a doctor. He was especially proud of the cognitive test that “Doc Ronny” gave him that allegedly proved that he was mentally competent. That was the test wherein Trump was able to correctly identify an elephant from a picture, and recall five words (person, woman, man, camera, tv). He couldn’t even think of five words that weren’t immediately around him at the time. But to Jackson, it’s Biden who is mentally and physically failing because he looks too healthy?

Biden Snubs Fox News, Ignores the Right-Wing Propaganda Network’s Super Bowl Interview Invite

The upcoming Super Bowl is bringing with it the expectation of an interview with the President of the United States, Joe Biden. It’s regarded as a traditional affair, despite the fact that it only began in 2009 with President Obama. Nevertheless, ever since then, the network that airs the football game, with few exceptions, has had a brief chat with the President.

This year the Super Bowl is being broadcast by the Fox “Entertainment” network. Consequently, the interview would be conducted by Fox News. However, with just a few days before the event, President Biden has not indicated that he would be participating. Which shouldn’t surprise anyone considering that last year Biden was reported to have accurately described Fox News as “one of the most destructive forces in the United States,” and that Rupert Murdoch “was the most dangerous man in the world.”

While there is still a small chance that Biden may show up for the interview, Fox News isn’t counting on it. According to Variety…

“With just three days to go before the Kansas City Chiefs square off against the Philadelphia Eagles at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, the White House has yet to commit to the traditional interview between the President of the United States and the news division of the media company broadcasting the gridiron classic.”

Biden has good reason to refuse Fox’s invitation. The network serves as the official Ministry of Propaganda for the the Republican Party. While prior Super Bowl interviews on other networks were conducted by reputable journalists, Fox News has assigned the likes of Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity to handle their Super Bowl babble. And in the first week of his administration, Biden’s press office spelled out their criteria for engaging with the media that appears to rule out Fox News:

“We expect reporters covering the White House to operate in good faith and tell their audience the truth. […] Organizations or individuals who traffic in conspiracy theories, propaganda and lies to spread disinformation will not be tolerated.”

Of course, the Biden White House wasn’t going to ban Fox News. But they were putting them on notice. Variety notes that this year, “Fox News had been planning to offer one of its news correspondents to handle the duties.” The problem with that, however, is that Fox News doesn’t employ any “news correspondents.” Do they think that partisan hacks like Bret Baier or Martha MacCallum would do any better job of it than Hannity or Tucker Carlson? Maybe Fox would hand the mic to their White House correspondent, Peter Doocy.

Fox News is naturally going ballistic over this brushoff. They can’t comprehend how a leader could disrupt this habitual ritual (of fourteen whole years). Never mind that Trump skipped out on the Super Bowl interview with Lester Holt of NBC News in 2018.

We can predict the sort of questions that a Fox “News” interviewer would ask. Rather than covering issues that the American people care about, like those that Biden addressed in his State of the Union speech (inflation, taxes, climate change, reproductive rights, Social Security, etc.), Fox would harp on nonsense like Hunter Biden’s stolen laptop, Donald Trump’s “Big Lie” of election fraud, classified documents found at Biden’s home (but ignoring Trump and Pence), migrant “caravan” invasions, false allegations of bias against conservatives by Twitter, and the sex appeal of cartoon candy characters.

For a preview of the sort of interview that Fox News would conduct, just have a look at how they have covered recent breaking news stories…

UPDATE: Apparently Fox News had canceled an interview that Biden had agreed to do with Fox Soul, a Black audience focused streaming network. But now the interview is reportedly back on, for now. [Update to update: The interview was canceled again]

Trump Live Blogged Biden’s State of the Union – And it Was Just as Schizoid as You’d Expect

The State of the Union address that President Biden delivered on Tuesday night was remarkable in several respects. Most importantly because it affirmed that Biden is a vigorous advocate for the principles that most Americans hold dear. From the economy and fair taxation, to climate change, to reproductive rights, to foreign policy, to Social Security, and more, the President was eloquent, effective, and passionately patriotic.

Republicans in the audience, however, were a different story. They behaved like incontinent toddlers howling in frustration, unable to comport themselves courteously, or even coherently. Even while a huge majority of Speech viewers reacted positively (72%, including 43% of Republicans), characters like Marjorie Taylor Greene shouted rudely with the contemptuousness that has made Republicans political pariahs.

Never one to be left out of any media frenzy, Donald Trump shoved his way into this event by live-blogging the speech on his pitifully failing social media site, Truth Social. But his petulant and self-serving outbursts only remind people of just how deranged and consumed with rage he is. His commentary was nothing more than a threaded temper tantrum. He began by dragging down America and, of course, lying.

“We are truly a Nation In Decline, and for that reason I want Joe Biden to do well tonight!”

Yeah, sure he does. Let’s see how that worked out.

“Too much use of the word ‘folks!'”

This coming from the guy who repeats himself like a manic Tourette’s sufferer (i.e. fake news, witch hunt, MAGA, and the unrelenting whine of Russia, Russia, Russia).

“He seems to be very angry, shouting into the mic, when he’s trying to come across as conciliatory. Perhaps somebody should walk up to the dais, tap him on the shoulder, and say, ‘Be cool!'”

What speech was Trump watching? Nevertheless, It’s good advice from someone who knows what being persistently angry is all about.

“On Unemployment, far fewer people are working now—a false figure, because the workforce is smaller, at 3.4%, is virtually meaningless!”

WRONG! There are millions more Americans working today than when Biden took office. The labor force participation rate declined during Trump’s term, and recovered during Biden’s.

“We wouldn’t have had the War with Russia and Ukraine if I were President. I could also end it in 24 hours—which is what should happen!”

Trump has previously claimed that he has magic words that would end the war, but he refuses to tell anyone.

“Just showed Swalwell, a man who spent a lot of time in Spy Fang Fang’s ‘honey net,’ and wasn’t removed from our most important Committee. Only in America!”

Trump is disseminating this slanderous lie because he’s afraid of Rep. Swalwell, and also because he’s a big baby.

“He’s absolutely screaming, ‘Infrastructure, Infrastructure,’ then he shouldn’t be wasting all of our money on China-produced windmills and the Green New Deal!”

Biden’s infrastructure bill got bipartisan support, and even the Republicans who voted against it have tried to take credit for it. Also, majorities support the “Green New Deal.”

“Just showed Racist Maxine Waters with a big smile on her face, but this is a woman that truly hates America!”

Every Black person is a racist in Trump’s eyes. He says the same thing about Leticia James, the Attorney General of New York.

“If I ever made a Speech like this, they’d run me out of Washington, D.C. But there’s time left, maybe he can save it.”

Who wants to remind Trump that the American people did run him out of Washington?

“Pocahontas is really going wild tonight—She almost has to be constrained, the only thing that will do it is the straight jacket!”

Trump is referring to Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who committed the sin of applauding. Did Trump see his bestie Marjorie Taylor Greene?

“He’s lying so much about Social Security, Medicare, and so many other things!”

For the record, GOP Sen. Rick Scott actually put his plan to “sunset” Social Security and other programs into writing. And he just doubled down on it on Twitter. Meanwhile, Biden got Republicans to join Democrats in a standing ovation for his comment that “We all apparently agree, Social Security and Medicare is off the books now, right?”

In addition to Trump’s live blogging, he finished his evening rant by posting a video of what he called “the real State of the Union.” However, it was just more of his dystopian, “American Carnage” rhetoric about how awful the country is. For instance…

“Over the past two years under Biden millions and millions of illegal aliens from 160 different countries have stormed across our Southern border […] Savage killers, rapists, and violent criminals are being released from jail to continue their crime. […] Real wages are down 20 months in a row. Gas prices have soared and are now going up much higher than even before (both false). […] Joe Biden’s weaponized Justice Department — and I’m a victim of it — is persecuting his political opponents. […] They’re trying to indoctrinate and mutilate our children. […] He’s leading us to the brink of World War III.”

That compendium of pessimism and horror is typical of the GOP’s current public positions. It was affirmed in Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ response to the State of the Union, wherein she contrasted Biden’s optimism with the nightmarish future envisioned by Republicans. Although she did mange to squeeze out one true statement…

“The dividing line in America is no longer between right or left. The choice is between normal or crazy.”

Exactly! Unfortunately, she doesn’t understand how most people will interpret that. It’s also sad that the craziness on the right is already leading to violent incidents by Trump cultists. And Trump is actually egging them on.
