Trump-Fluffing One America News Network (OAN) Was Created and Funded By AT&T

The right-wing media world has been dominated by Fox News for nearly twenty-five years. That remains true today despite the emergence of a couple upstart, and even more extreme, networks, Newsmax and One America News (OAN). However, the newcomers are still too small to present any real threat of competition.

Reuters is now reporting that OAN had some help from a prominent media megacorporation. As revealed in court records that were made public, AT&T was an early supporter of OAN, providing the network carriage on its platform when few other cable operators were doing so. According to Reuters…

“A Reuters review of court records shows the role AT&T played in creating and funding OAN, a network that continues to spread conspiracy theories about the 2020 election and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“OAN founder and chief executive Robert Herring Sr has testified that the inspiration to launch OAN in 2013 came from AT&T executives.

“’They told us they wanted a conservative network,’ Herring said during a 2019 deposition seen by Reuters. ‘They only had one, which was Fox News, and they had seven others on the other [leftwing] side. When they said that, I jumped to it and built one.’

“Since then, AT&T has been a crucial source of funds flowing into OAN, providing tens of millions of dollars in revenue, court records show. Ninety percent of OAN’s revenue came from a contract with AT&T-owned television platforms, including satellite broadcaster DirecTV, according to 2020 sworn testimony by an OAN accountant.”

For AT&T to throw its support behind a pseudo-news network that was already dealing in dangerous conspiracy theories and blatantly dishonest propaganda, is a breach of their obligation to the public that comprises its customer universe. If they wanted a “conservative” network to compete with Fox News there were other organizations that had track records that more closely resembled the practice of journalism. OAN didn’t even exist when AT&T floated the notion that they would carry its programming.

That sort of irresponsible collaboration with a deceitful entity devoted to propaganda is particularly appalling for the the corporate parent of WarnerMedia, the owner of CNN (although CNN will soon be spun off in a deal with Discovery Networks). And the story became even more sordid when OAN disclosed that it had promised to “cast a positive light” on AT&T during its newscasts. That’s a fatal breach journalistic ethics on the parts of both AT&T and OAN.

It’s also notable that CNN has been a frequent target of Donald Trump. He regularly referred to them as “fake” news and even launched a boycott of AT&T in an attempt to get them to interfere with CNN’s reporting. Trump once tweeted…

“After watching [CNN] for a short while, I turned it off. All negative & so much Fake News, very bad for U.S. Big ratings drop. Why doesn’t owner @ATT do something? I believe that if people stoped using or subscribing to @ATT, they would be forced to make big changes at @CNN”

Of course it would have been totally improper for AT&T to try to force editorial changes at CNN. But Trump, being who he is, wouldn’t know that. However, executives at AT&T should have known and repudiated Trump’s suggestion.

The question now is whether Trump will forgive AT&T because of their support for his favorite wingnut mouthpiece, OAN. Although it might just confuse him because they still own CNN for now. This is a recipe for a mental meltdown of some sort. Not that Trump needs any new reasons to freak out.

UPDATE 1/14/2022: DirectV, which is majority owned by AT&T, has announced that it will be dropping OAN:

“The move will deal a significant blow to the fringe outlet. Not only will OAN be removed from the millions of households that use DirecTV as a television provider, it will also suffer a major hit to its revenue.”

MSNBC’s Chris Hayes Exposes Fox News’ Tucker Carlson for the Slimy Little Coward that He Is

The commitment that Fox News has shown for advancing the spread of the coronavirus has been evident from the outset of the pandemic. When they weren’t outright dismissing the threat as a flu or a hoax (in conjunction with Donald Trump), they were disparaging efforts to mitigate the harm, such as wearing face masks and getting vaccinated. The result is that the nation is now suffering from what can accurately be called the Fox News Pandemic.

The most offensive objector to the science-based solutions to COVID has been Fox’s Tucker Carlson. He has relentlessly promoted the use of quack cures, espoused paranoid conspiracy theories that the vaccines don’t work, supported the unlawful use of fake vaccination cards, and even exhorted his viewers to make false police reports of child abuse against parents whose children wear face masks.

On Tuesday Carlson was called out on MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes. Clearly Hayes was fed up with the blatant hypocrisy Carlson exuded every time he broached the subject of the pandemic. That was especially true when Carlson sought to malign President Biden’s efforts to actually save lives and return the country to some semblance of normalcy.

Most recently, Biden announced an initiative to get more Americans vaccinated. It included having federal agencies and large companies encouraging their employees to either get the shot or be tested weekly. and it was received with overwhelming support, even in a survey by Fox News.

Undeterred, Carlson persisted with his tunnel-vision, knee-jerk, pro-COVID positions. And he did so despite the fact that his employer had already implemented its own policy that is even stricter than Biden’s, requiring daily testing for the unvaccinated. Which led to Hayes unloading on Carlson and his hypocrisy:

“Tucker Carlson has even launched a personal campaign against the horrible, tyrannical employers out there who require their employees to get vaccinated. He has been giving sympathetic interviews to people who have taken the – in my mind – rather extreme step of quitting their job rather than getting vaccinated.”

“Tucker, buddy, I’ve got news for you: The call is coming from inside the house. Your own bosses are doing this. And I’ve got to ask, Why don’t you have the courage of your convictions? The very lowest level of that courage, which of course he’s failed to show, would be to simply use your platform to actually criticize your own bosses who are making this requirement. You could go on air and say ‘Hey, my bosses are doing this and I don’t agree with it.’

“But that would require the tiniest little sliver of moral integrity. You’d have to take some little, slight risk to your bottom line, and your paycheck, and your stature. You’re probably not going to do that. You certainly wouldn’t do the thing that you’ve celebrated in in others, which is to just quit and walk away rather than be subject to this tyranny.”

There are a couple of points in those remarks that Hayes might need to rethink. First of all, to ask Carlson why he doesn’t have the “courage of his convictions” you would have to assume that he has any convictions. And the same thing goes for any questions regarding Carlson’s alleged “moral integrity.”

Not only would Carlson never give up his Fox News gourmet meal ticket over something as principled as integrity, he will never even admit to his audience that Fox News has adopted the very policies that he is so petulantly whining about. Because to Carlson, none of this is about honor or honesty. It is simply about profit, power, and propaganda.

That goes for all of his confederates at Fox News as well. They are happy in the safety of their vaccinated corporate cocoon, while they simultaneously and deliberately frighten their dimwitted, vulnerable viewers away from the proven things that will protect them, their families, and their nation from illness and death. And somehow they still manage to sleep at night.

Trump Spokeswoman Posts Racist Attack on Chair of the January 6th Insurrection Committee

It’s been nine months since Donald Trump’s insurrectionists invaded the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to prevent Congress from carrying out its constitutional duty to certifying the presidential election. Their violent and deadly assault failed to achieve their goal of subverting democracy, but it sparked a treasonous revolt that continues to this day.

Trump has still never conceded his loss to President Biden. And his cult followers still harbor delusions that he will be reinstated to his throne, despite having no evidence of any electoral irregularities and no legal pathway to that end. It’s a dangerous fantasy that led directly to the January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C. And Trump is continuing to fuel the seditionist fires.

On Tuesday morning, Trump’s spokes-shill, Liz Harrington (whose proxy Trump tweeting is violating Twitter’s rules against circumventing a ban), posted a tweet with a link to an article (in fact, she posted it three times) whose headline read “Jan. 6 commission chairman once sympathized with black secessionist group that killed cops.” Both the headline and the article itself where dishonest, racist, and intended to malign Rep. Bennie Thompson who is the chairman of both the Homeland Security Committee and the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack. The article by John Solomon began by stating that…

“Fifty years ago as a Mississippi alderman, Bennie Thompson defended the Republic of New Africa and participated in a news conference blaming cops for the group’s violence even as FBI saw group as waging ‘guerrilla warfare.'”

Fifty years ago? That’s how far back Solomon had to dig to find something that he could warp into a pseudo-scandal. Solomon implies that Thompson was somehow affiliated with the Republic of New Africa (RNA), a separatist organization founded in 1968. But Thompson was neither a member, nor a legal representative. He was simply a local elected official who made a rather uncontroversial statement with regard to a police incident. Thompson said that…

“My utmost concern in this matter is to see that people who reside or pass through the town of Bolton,[MS] are treated fairly and given every opportunity afforded them by law. […] My position is that people are entitled to live as they choose, so long as they are law abiding and peaceful.”

Thompson’s explicit reference to being “law abiding and peaceful” didn’t stop Solomon from associating him with every allegation of criminal activity by the RNA. That’s how Solomon works. He is a disgraced propagandist who was even too disreputable for Fox News, who ditched him last year. The network warned their “news” staff that Solomon lacked credibility and engaged in disinformation campaigns. Solomon was also sent packing by The Hill, who said that he had published misleading columns. In some of those columns he was found to have been clandestinely collaborating with a notoriously untrustworthy source, Rudy Giuliani.

Solomon’s article had a single purpose: to personally vilify the Chairman of the Select Committee so that he could later dismiss the Committee’s work. And he chose to pursue that goal by slandering a well respected Black legislative leader with allusions to past crimes that he had nothing to do with.

Then, along comes Trump and his PR flack to hype the fake scandal. Because the last thing that any of these cretins want is for the truth to come out about what happened on January 6th and who was responsible. But with tactics like this they are only revealing how scared they are of the justice that awaits them.

GOP Senator Lies to Fox News that the Pfizer COVID Vaccine is Not FDA Approved

In case anyone was wondering whether or not Fox News was still promulgating lies about the coronavirus and rational, science-based methods of dealing with it, you can set your curiosity aside. The aggressively pro-COVID network is continuing its corrosive crusade to kill as many Americans – mostly their own viewers – as possible.

On Monday evening’s episode of The Tucker Carlson White Power Hour, the histrionic host invited Wisconsin’s Republican Senator and conspiracy crank, Ron Johnson, to infect viewers with his deceitful disinformation. On that score, Johnson didn’t disappoint. He began by agreeing with Carlson that the renowned epidemiologist, Dr. Anthony Fauci, is a fraud who should be banished from civil society.

Johnson goes on to complain that the pandemic policies of Democrats haven’t worked, resulting in over 700,000 deaths. Of course, most of those occurred during the Trump administration. It wasn’t until President Biden took office that there actually were well-received policies to mitigate the spread of the pandemic. And even after Trump left the White House, his anti-mask, anti-vaccine positions continued to poison the minds of his cult followers.

Undaunted, Johnson recklessly maligned vaccines and proven treatments while plugging quack cures like Ivermectin, a medication mostly used to deworm livestock. But he reached his climax with a blatantly false assertion about the proven safe and effective Pfizer vaccine:

Johnson: These mandates are driven by the bait and switch of the FDA that we now have an approved vaccine. We do not have an approved vaccine in America. They did it for the Comirnaty. It’s available, I guess, in Europe, but the Pfizer vaccine available in the U.S. is not FDA approved. It’s got an emergency use authorization.
Carlson: Someday we are going to learn the depths of the lies, and I think it’s going to be shocking to everyone. Even those of us who have a low opinion of the people making these decisions.

Carlson is right. People will be shocked to learn the depths of the lies that he and Johnson and their ilk are telling. It’s shocking – albeit not surprising – that they can go on TV and say things that are so demonstrably untrue. They have been disparaging the FDA’s Pfizer approval from the start. For the record, back on August 23, 2021…

“[T]he U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the first COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine has been known as the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, and will now be marketed as Comirnaty (koe-mir’-na-tee), for the prevention of COVID-19 disease in individuals 16 years of age and older.”

This isn’t the first time that Johnson has uttered this flagrant falsehood. Nor is it the first time that Fox News has let him get away with it. Johnson said the same thing the day before on Fox and Friends. So there has been plenty of time for him to have been corrected before excreting this bullpucky on Carlson’s show. But let’s face it – – they aren’t interested in what’s correct, only in what advances their twisted, right-wing narrative. It’s what Fox News was created for, and what cretins like Johnson exploit to spread their lies.

Geraldo Unleashes Profane Attack on Anti-Vaxers and Vaccinated Fox News Hypocrites

From the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, Fox News has been single-mindedly committed to disseminating disinformation that has had a demonstrably harmful effect on their viewers and the nation. They have parroted Donald Trump’s reckless lies belittling the risks, prescribing quack cures, and discouraging the wearing of face masks and getting vaccinated. As a resulted the nation is now suffering from what can fairly be called the Fox News Pandemic.

There has been little pushback by anyone at Fox News to counter their predominantly pro-COVID narrative. Which makes a recent tweet by Fox’s Geraldo Rivera all the more peculiar. On Saturday he posted this message that appears directed to his Fox News confederates, without explicitly saying so…

“Open-minded & inclusive, I’m friends with all kinds of people. But as we pass 700,000 #Covid dead, I have zero tolerance for anti-Vaxers.

Most of all, I detest vaccinated dick heads who urge the unvaccinated to ‘fight for their freedom,’ the mob urging the man on ledge to jump.”

It’s difficult to take seriously Geraldo’s claim of “zero tolerance” considering he works side-by-side with the very same anti-vaxers he’s condemning. And while he doesn’t hold back in this tweet, he isn’t nearly as clear about “detesting” his colleagues when he is discussing this subject with them on the air. It isn’t like he doesn’t know how they feel:

Nevertheless, Geraldo is right about anti-vaxers being responsible for the current spike in COVID cases, hospitalizations, and deaths. And his colorful assessment of the hypocrites who have been vaccinated discouraging others from protecting themselves, their families, and their communities, is spot on. They are, in effect, encouraging self-destructive behavior from the safety of their TV studio (where vaccine mandates are enforced).

The utterly dishonest argument that vaccine resistance is about freedom simply doesn’t fly. No one is being forced to get the shot. They are merely being told that, due to their ignorance and selfishness, they won’t be allowed to endanger others in public places. That’s a condition that society has imposed on everything from measles vaccinations, to drinking and driving, to wearing shoes and shirts in restaurants.

Every law is an imposition on personal liberty. But you don’t see these Fox Newsers advising people to run red lights, or shoplift at Walmart, or shoot their neighbors, in the name of freedom. You don’t have to obey those laws, but if you don’t, you lose certain societal privileges. It’s a not a question of freedom. It’s a question of safety and consideration for the rights and welfare of others. Geraldo has apparently come to recognize these facts. Now let’s see if he holds the rest of the Fox News hypocrites to them.

Trump’s Candidate for Arizona Governor Would Not Have Certified 2020 Election Results

The MAGA “movement” is continuing to excrete waste from certain reddish regions of the country. While it remains a minority in most of the nation, there are pockets of sewage that float to the surface here and there. And when they do, Donald Trump is there to flush it out to the rest of his cult followers.

This week Trump endorsed Kari Lake as his anointed candidate for governor of Arizona. That’s the state that just completed a fake audit (fraudit) performed by the rabidly partisan “Cyber Ninjas” that ultimately still found that Joe Biden is the legitimate president and was was fairly elected.

Lake is the perfect Trump surrogate. She is a TV celebrity with no political experience who embraces conspiracy theories, advocates for building a wall on the Southern border, peddles quack COVID cures, and most importantly, adores Trump almost almost as much as he does.

Lake’s job prior to jumping into the race was as a news reader on the Fox owned-and-operated television affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona. Trump viewed that as a plus in his endorsement tweet, posted by his spokes-shill, Liz Harrington, whose proxy Trump tweeting is a violation Twitter’s rules against circumventing a ban. Trump gushed that…

“@KariLake is running for Governor in the Great State of Arizona. She is a fantastic person who spent many years working as a highly respected television anchor and journalist. Because of this, few can take on the Fake News Media like Kari. She is strong on Crime, will protect our Border, Second Amendment, Military, and Vets.”

Continuing to tick off the tedious talking points that have become Trump/GOP/Fox News gospel, he said that Lake “is against COVID lockdowns, Cancel Culture, and will end ‘woke’ curriculum in our schools.” But most cringeworthy was Trump’s assertion that Lake “will fight to restore Election Integrity (both past and future!).” How he expects Lake to restore any of his warped versions of reality from the past remains a mystery. The election is over and cannot be rerun, decertified, or otherwise altered. However, that didn’t stop Lake from going on the fringe, right-wing One America “News” Network (OAN) to participate in this softball exchange with OAN’s Senior Propaganda Pusher, Natalie Harp:

Harp: Have you thought through how you would have handled November differently? We all remember the scene where [current GOP governor] Doug Ducey is sitting there. The phone rings. It’s president Trump. He doesn’t answer. And he signs results that we now know – he certified it under penalty of perjury – weren’t accurate. How would you have handled that differently?
Lake: Well, considering how much already at the time information we had about serious irregularities and problems with the election, I would not have certified it right then. I mean, we actually had Rudy Giuliani in town at that very moment going through pieces of evidence, affidavits, that were presented through people of, that had witnessed things that were wrong or that didn’t add up.

Harp’s leading question injects the mandatory Trumpian bullpucky about the election results not being accurate, despite the fact that their own handpicked Ninjas validated it. And Lake’s reply could not have been more wingnuttery. She actually had the nerve to cite Rudy Giuliani as a source. For the record, Giuliani’s lies and disinformation have resulted in the suspension of his license to practice law and even got him banned from Fox News.

Lake also went on Steve Bannon’s podcast and baselessly accused her Democratic gubernatorial opponent, the current Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, of criminal acts and implied that she would prosecute Hobbs, saying that “I think Katie Hobbs will have a really tough time campaigning from behind bars.”

Lake is an unabashed, fully indoctrinated Trump-fluffer. Her cult-like devotion to Trump is emblematic of the broader threat that Trump and his worshipers represent to the nation. They are implementing a coordinated, nationwide crusade to undermine democracy in every state. And they must be stopped. To that end, feel free to support the campaign of Democrat Katie Hobbs for governor of Arizona. And be on the lookout for other Trumpian agents running for office. The future of American democracy depends on it.

Sean Hannity Comes Out Against Medicare and Other Popular Life-Saving Programs

Sean Hannity has distinguished himself as the Senior Trump-Fluffer on Fox News. He can be depended on to back the Former Guy no matter what the issue is. And now that Donald Trump is frantically lobbying Republicans to oppose President Biden’s “Build Back Better” initiatives in Congress, Hannity is obediently trailing behind like a good drooling sycophant.

On his Fox News program Thursday night, Hannity delivered a harangue that was supposed to be critical of the Democratic infrastructure legislation currently being discussed. But as usual, Hannity was too ignorant, and too obsessed with his knee-jerk, right-wing bias, to include any substantive arguments that support his position. It was just another childish, lie-riddled rant (video below). Hannity whined…

“The bill expands Medicare, Obamacare. It includes money for government housing, government funded medicine, government funded healthy food. Gee, I really need their healthy food advice. After all, they look so healthy. Joe [Biden] looks so healthy to me. And of course, government funded green energy programs.”

Oh my! Hannity is scaring his audience with the fearsome threat that Democrats are trying to strengthen Medicare and Obamacare, two of the most popular federal programs in modern history. And if that weren’t enough, he is also raising the horrifying prospects of having government help disadvantaged Americans with housing, medicine, and food assistance. Hannity’s alternative is apparently to promote homelessness, illness, and starvation.

In his attempt to malign these programs that have broad support across the country, Hannity threw one of his trademark insults at President Biden, suggesting that he isn’t “healthy.” It’s a tedious cliché on Fox News, where they have vainly tried to compare the active and avid Biker Joe to the Couch Potato Trump. But Hannity wasn’t through making an arse of himself:

“And that’s not all. The bill also gives billions in entitlements to illegal immigrants. Oh, why — when other countries charge for citizenship, why are we offering illegal immigrants that didn’t respect our laws or sovereignty, why are we offering them — making them pay?”

WHUT? There is nothing in any current draft of the legislation that “gives billions in entitlements to illegal immigrants.” Hannity is, once again, making things up because he doesn’t have the intellect to form a honest, coherent argument. What’s more, he seems to be proposing that the United States sell citizenship. Everything to these Republican grifters has a price tag on it. And citizenship is just another product, another opportunity to exploit people for profit. Plus, such a repulsive plan would mean that only the rich could emigrate to the U.S.

This is how the GOP thinks. It’s how their “brain” trust at Fox News thinks. But it isn’t how the American people want their nation to be run. America is not a subdivision of Walmart where principles and patriotism are for sale. And the more that cretins like Hannity treat it like that, the deeper they will dig themselves into irrelevancy.

‘THIS IS SICK!’ Fox News Hack Supports COVID For Kids

From the outset of the coronavirus pandemic, Fox News has recklessly spread disinformation that has cost people their lives. Echoing Donald Trump, they have belittled the risks, prescribed quack cures, and generally dissuaded people from taking common sense precautions like wearing face masks and getting vaccinated. On Monday morning California Governor Gavin Newsom announced a statewide mandate for all eligible children to be vaccinated in order to attend in-person schooling once there is a full FDA approval. This is a practical step aimed at mitigating the spread of the virus and saving lives. So naturally, Fox News is virulently opposed to it. And within minutes of the announcement Fox contributor Lisa Boothe tweeted her knee-jerk response:

Boothe’s claim that “students have an almost 100% chance of survival” is both false and grossly insensitive. While the rate of serious illness in children is lower than for adults adults, it is not 0%. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics there were 243,373 new cases among kids over the past week, a 240% increase since early July. Children made up to 4% of patients who were hospitalized for Covid-19. And the CDC has reported 523 deaths among people younger than 18 in the United States.

You have to wonder what Boothe considers to be an acceptable number of child deaths. And Boothe doesn’t bother to address the fact that there are often health problems that persist for weeks and months in patients who survive. What’s more, even children who are asymptomatic can transmit the virus to their parents, grandparents, siblings, teachers, and innumerable others with whom they come into contact. Many of those adults could suffer more severe consequences.

It’s notable that Fox News hosts, contributors, and guests, regularly condemn any efforts to mandate vaccinations or testing regimens. However, they also neglect to disclose to their viewers the corporate policy at Fox that requires all employees to report their vaccination status and, if unvaccinated, to submit to daily testing.

So the policy that Gov. Newsom is implementing is not much different than the one that Boothe, and all of her Fox News confederates, are required to abide by. It is also not much different than the current school policy that already mandates vaccines for measles, mumps, rubella, polio, chicken pox, and others. Which only affirms the rank hypocrisy of Boothe and all the other Fox News “doctors” feigning outrage, while giving dangerous and ignorant advice to their dimwitted viewers.

Debt Ceiling Dumbass Sean Hannity is Right, Except for Being Wrong About Almost Everything

Fox News is taking a rare break from trying to kill off their audience with COVID vaccine disinformation. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t still spreading lies intended to harm their viewers and the nation.

The current battle in Congress to pass legislation for infrastructure development and economic renewal is consuming much of the news cycle. The plans represent key parts of President Biden’s agenda. So naturally Fox News is weighing in with predictable attacks on anything that the Democrats have proposed or support. And leading the charge is Fox’s Senior Trump-Fluffer, Sean Hannity.

On his nightly hour of liberal bashing and neo-fascism advocacy, Hannity demonstrated why he is so revered by budding totalitarians across the nation. He simultaneously demonstrated his infamous idiocy on pretty much any subject that he addresses.

In this episode, Hannity was canoodling with Newt Gingrich to contrive false narratives about Congress raising the debt ceiling. It’s a usually a routine function that both political parties agree to in order to keep the country from defaulting on its debts. But not this year. Republicans have been adamant that they will not play nice with Democrats, even if it means economic catastrophe. And as a loyal Republican, but a disloyal American, Hannity chimed in saying that…

“They [Democrats] have the House. They have the Senate. They want to spend all this money. Republicans don’t. There’s no opportunity to work with a Republican. I don’t think one Republican should vote to increase it by a penny. Now Democrats are gonna say ‘Oh, you’re gonna shut down the government, and the full faith and credit of the U.S. government is gonna be at stake.’ That’s not true. They have control of Congress. They have control of the purse strings. They get to decide. So it will be up to them whether or not they raise the debt ceiling. Correct?”

Oddly enough, Hannity managed to get something right for a change. Democrats do have majorities in the House and the Senate. And they can pass an increase in the debt ceiling on their own, so long as there are no defections. But everything else Hannity said is not only wrong, but mind-numbingly stupid:

  • First of all, raising the debt ceiling has nothing to do with Democrats wanting to spend money. In fact, it is the money that was already spent during the administration of Donald Trump that that would be covered by the increase.
  • Secondly, Democrats have reached out repeatedly to Republicans to join this ordinarily uncontroversial procedure. Th GOP has refused to go along, insisting that Democrats carry the load by themselves. It’s a tactic designed to blame Democrats after the fact for doing the responsible thing.
  • Thirdly, Hannity’s little charade about the GOP not putting the “full faith and credit of the U.S. government” at risk is a straight up lie, and he knows it. If the debt ceiling isn’t raised, then the U.S. cannot pay its obligations. That’s the definition of default, and would send the economy into a tailspin. The anticipation of it has already spooked the stock market.

The only thing that Hannity got right was that Democrats hold majorities in Congress. Although he fails to grasp that the only reason that’s true is because the American people put them there. They also put Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the White House, defeating Trump by more than seven million votes.

Consequently, this might be a good time to listen to Hannity. His recognition that “[Democrats] have control of Congress, they have control of the purse strings, they get to decide,” should inspire the Democrats to move forward with the rest of their agenda. They should pass the infrastructure bill without help from the GOP. They should pass the reconciliation bill as well. And if they need to dispense with the filibuster to do it, they shouldn’t hesitate.

The Biden/Democratic agenda is overwhelmingly popular with the American people. Passage would create jobs, stimulate the economy, provide benefits for families, children, students, seniors, workers, and more. And Democrats would get all of the credit. That’s a recipe for future victories in 2022, 2024, and beyond. So if there ever a time to take Hannity’s advice, it’s now. Go for it Democrats!

Former Fox News Editor Tells CNN He Has ‘Only Disdain’ for Spreaders of Trump’s ‘Big Lie’

Chris Stirewalt was the Digital Politics Editor for Fox News and a ten year veteran on the network. That all ended following his leading role on the 2020 presidential election forecast team that called the state of Arizona for Joe Biden. Stirewalt was unceremoniously dismissed shortly thereafter.

It may have just been a matter of time before Stirewalt was cut loose anyway, considering some of his commentaries that were less than worshipful of Donald Trump. For instance there was the time he colorfully predicted the scene prior to one of Trump’s diplomatic trips saying that “He is going to fly into Brussels like a seagull. He is going to defecate all over everything, squawk and fly away.”

On Sunday Stirewalt was interviewed by CNN’s Jim Acosta. The subject was Trump’s still lingering obsession with having lost the the election last November. Acosta asked Stirewalt if he felt vindicated now that even the rabidly partisan Cyber Nimrods … er Cyber Cyber Ninjas concluded that Biden was the legitimate winner. Stirewalt replied that…

“I take no satisfaction or pleasure from seeing this outcome that roughly corresponds with the real results. They’re doing their damage anyway.”

Stirewalt went on to say that…

“I have sincere sympathy for people who were duped. There are people who really believe this stuff. I don’t know what Donald Trump actually believes. I think he knows he lost. Whatever. […]. But I have only disdain for the people who continue to promulgate this.” […]

“As the results in Arizona made clear, it doesn’t matter what you find. He will claim fraud anyway. He will still say that there was fraud even if the finding says there wasn’t. The point is to undermine voter confidence in the process.”

These are remarks that Strirewalt could never have gotten away with on Fox News, where unflinching fealty Trump and his “Big Lie” that the election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him are still mandatory opinions imposed by the network brass. So it may be fortuitous that Stirewalt was canned.

As for Acosta, he has been particularly cutting lately. He recently labeled Tucker Carlson a “human manure spreader.” And there’s much more where that came from. In the same program with the Stirewalt segment, Acosta righteously ripped Trump as a big crybaby “Who can’t get over losing.”

That’s a trait in Trump that News Corpse has observed for years. Contrary to his delusional self image as a macho man, Trump is actually “the Most Cowardly, Whining, Crybaby to Ever Be President!“ And in closing, here are just a few examples that have been documented.
