Chief Fox News Anti-Vaxxer Tucker Carlson Pushes Deadly Pro-COVID Agenda

For a network that has been bleeding viewers for the past four months, you might think that Fox News wouldn’t want to see their audience shrink any further. Especially not due to viewers dying off from a deadly pandemic that they helped to exacerbate. But you would be wrong.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Coronavirus

On Monday night the Chief Fox News Anti-Vaxxer and Pandemic Promoter, Tucker Carlson, demonstrated just how determined he is to kill off as many of his dimwitted viewers as possible. He ran another in his series of coronavirus disinformation segments whose only plausible purpose is to convince his audience to ignore common sense health guidelines that preserve life. But then, Fox News has been doing that for nearly a year now.

Carlson began by dismissing the settled science that social distancing effectively mitigates the opportunities for viral transmission. He attributed that advice to a 19th century biologist whose work has been validated repeatedly in the intervening years but, according to Carlson, should be rejected just because it’s old (aka time-tested). Then Carlson got to the meat of his mendacious monologue that aimed to cast doubts on the efficacy of COVID vaccinations:

“This should prompt some pretty tough questions for our public health experts in this country. And one of those questions is: How effective is this coronavirus vaccine? How necessary is it to take the vaccine? Don’t dismiss those questions from anti-vaxxers. Don’t kick people off social media for asking them. Answer the questions. Especially now that the administration would like you to take this vaccine. As Joe Biden told you last week, you can’t celebrate the Fourth of July if you don’t.”

So Carlson is only “asking questions.” Never mind that these are questions that have been answered a thousand times by experts with far more credibility on the subject than a fatuous Fox Newser. All the evidence shows that the vaccines currently in use in the United States are safe and effective and critical to saving lives and returning to some degree of normality.

Still, in Carlson’s world the utterly disreputable, conspiracy-minded, anti-vaxxers must be paid attention to despite their having been exposed as crackpots long ago. What’s more, Carlson is joining his Fox confederates in distorting President Biden’s hopeful message of defeating the virus and safely enjoying gatherings with friends and family. The Foxies twisted that into an authoritarian dictate to submit to mandatory vaccination.

That ludicrous interpretation, however, exists only in the biases of right-wing deceivers like Carlson. It’s just another purposeful misstatement of fact that poisons the minds of his viewers. The result of those lies has produced a subculture of ignorance. Carlson noted that…

“When you look at the vaccination rates in certain states, it’s pretty clear that some people are not taking the vaccine on purpose.”

What Carlson isn’t mentioning is that the people he’s talking about are his own viewers who he has been lying to for months, along with others on Fox News and Donald Trump. Of course they’re skeptical. And their skepticism is fueling dangerous behavior that will surely result in more fatalities. According to a recent poll

“Nearly half of Republican men — 49% — say they won’t choose to be vaccinated if a vaccine is available to them […] Among those who said they supported Trump in 2020, 47% said they wouldn’t choose to be vaccinated. […] In contrast, 6% of Democratic men and 10% of Biden supporters said they wouldn’t get the shot. 25% of Black respondents, 28% of white respondents and 37% of Latino respondents said the same.

UPDATE: Late Tuesday Trump finally recommended that people get vaccinated (two months after he did, secretly).

What’s peculiar is that the vaccines that Carlson is maligning and portraying as unexamined and unnecessary are the same ones that Trump is now trying to take credit for. They’re the same ones that his boss, Rupert Murdoch, was vaccinated with way back in December. So since Carlson is so fond of asking questions, here a few for him:

Are you disputing your employer who clearly isn’t worried about the vaccine? Are you contradicting Trump, your political Messiah? Do you disagree with the doctors who are universally supportive of the vaccines and the science validating them? Do you really think people and society will be better off refusing to get vaccinated? Or do you just not give a damn how many people you kill? I’m just asking.

UPDATE: MSNBC’s Ari Melber did a segment on this with a supercut of Fox News shills saying how great the vaccine was when Trump was still in office.

Newsmax’s Idea of ‘Healthy’ Comedy is Ridiculing Biden’s Stutter with a Fake Laugh Track

Conservatives frequently complain about the prominence of left-leaning comedy. And they often try to make up for it by presenting pitifully unfunny characters on so-called “news” networks like Fox News, where goofball Greg Gutfeld just got his Saturday show promoted to five nights a week. Then again, there’s already a lot on Fox that is laughable.

Fox News Bozo

The argument that comedy has a left-wing bias (just like reality, according to Stephen Colbert) could be supported if all one looks at is the content of late night talk shows and Saturday Night Live where most of the targets of the jokes are Republicans or other right-wing figures. It is undeniable that they supply an abundance of raw material for humor.

However, there are numerous reasons for what the right believes is a conspiracy by the Comedy Overlords to suppress and malign Republicans. But you have to look deeper than the surface level evidence of TV jokesters.

Anyone who wonders why there isn’t very much conservative comedy is inadvertently acknowledging a significant truth: Conservatives just aren’t funny. Comedy is a delicate art that requires a certain finesse to pull off successfully. And the subject of the jokes is as important as the punch line. Experienced comedians will tell you that the target must always be someone of privilege. You cannot make fun of the poor without exposing yourself as callous and cruel. In other words, you don’t punch down.

Conservatives still don’t get that simple rule. And since their whole political ideology is one that is dedicated to advancing the interests of the upper-crusters, down is the only direction that they can punch. So the available targets for their humor are limited to the under-privileged who are already suffering hardships. Not only is that an empty source for comedy, it risks insulting the majority of the audience.

Even when conservatives have potential targets who are among the elite, they still manage to flub their efforts at fun-making. An example of that was conveniently supplied by Benny Johnson of the rightist “news” channel, Newsmax. He did a segment about the importance of comedy to a healthy society. And he demonstrated its use by mocking President Joe Biden, a viable target.

The problem is that, even though Biden is a member of an elite class of political power players, the joke that Johnson chose to feature was about Biden’s well-known speech impediment. That was a bad choice. You simply don’t make fun of people’s disabilities. While an able-bodied man slipping on a banana peel could be funny, no one is going to laugh at a paraplegic who fell out of his wheel chair.

With that in mind, check out what Johnson has to say about comedy in his introduction to a bit on Joe Biden. Note that most of of the “funny” parts are making fun of Biden’s stutter with an added laugh track that Johnson must have thought made it even funnier:

“Big tech censors are working in lock-step with the current administration to suppress comedy and criticism of the Biden administration. Cancel culture has eroded the joy in American culture to the point of absurdity. This is why it is more important than ever in American history to keep humor and ridicule alive. Because it is now clear that we could very well be on the verge of losing it. And lastly guys, if we can just admit, right now, together, that we are living under one of the funniest administrations in American history.”

Oh yeah. That was hilarious. A supercut of a man with a stutter, plus some random moments taken utterly out of context to make him look demented. What’s more, Johnson’s whining about imaginary “Big Tech censors” oppressing conservative comics is – well – hysterical. But as for that pressing question of the modern era: Why aren’t there any conservative comedians? Johnson has helped us answer it by his boorish and infantile example. Fox News: Take Kids Out of School Because They Teach Hating White People

It’s must be getting awfully difficult for the Fox News cult disciples to figure out what they are supposed to be doing. Ever since the election of Joe Biden, their tele-ministry has become cognitively dysfunctional, even as its CEO admitted publicly that it is anti-Biden. It can’t seem to settle on which phony scandal to promote, so they are cycling between piddling idiocies that range from Dr. Seuss to Mr. Potato Head.

Fox News, KKK

On Sunday Fox’s Senior Trump-fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, hosted Candace Owens, the right’s designated Black racism denier and racial disinformation dispenser. Bartiromo primed the discussion by relating a story told to her by a friend, and parlayed it into a universal assertion that at all schools “They are assuming that every kid is a racist.” Owens took that baton a ran with it saying that…

“I know that Megyn Kelly pulled her kids from school for similar reasons. This is a big topic that I cover extensively. I truly believe that it’s time for us to pull our kids out of school. And I know people say, ‘Not all of us can afford to do that.’ But the country wasn’t built on people having a lot of money when they were homeschooling.”

For several months now, many schools have shifted to online platforms due to the risk of exacerbating the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Republicans have been furiously demanding that schools be reopened throughout the country regardless of the danger it represents to students, their families, and their communities. But now Owens is adamant that kids must be removed from the schools that she and her right-wing confederates insist must be open. And it’s notable that she cites notorious racist, Megyn Kelly, to support her ludicrous rant. She continued with her explanation for why kids must be removed from the reopened schools:

“We’re starting to see this more and more. It’s indoctrination that’s happening They’re trying to fuel racism in this country. They’re trying to teach us Marxist ideology. And the bad thing is, Maria, that they’re replacing hard academics. These kids are not learning science. They’re not learning mathematics. They’re learning how to hate white people and they’re learning how to hate their country.”

Really? Owens didn’t provide any evidence of her allegation that schools are teaching kids to hate white people. Then she concluded by complaining that schools are trying to “guarantee that they have an ignorant group of people that vote based on emotion.” But all of her wholly unsupported arguments are pure projection. They precisely describe the conservative curriculum that eschews science in favor of faith and rightist political doctrine.

Bartiromo heartily agreed with Owens, declaring that “This has got to stop.” Then she veered off to an entirely different subject, the Democratic legislation to protect and enhance voting rights (H.R. 1), that the GOP has deemed demonic. Without flinching, Owens slid right along and insisted that there is no voter suppression in America, despite the fact that just this year Republicans have drafted more than 250 bills in 43 states explicitly aimed at suppressing voter turnout, specifically among Black and Latino voters.

Don’t hurt yourself trying to find any logic in any of this. The position of Fox News and its professional outrage generators isn’t based on either reason or facts. It is an enterprise built from its inception to manufacture anger, fear, and the cult-like devotion that those feelings produce. And Fox News clearly intends to continue that mission into the post-Trump era.

CNN’s Righteous Rant that ‘Tucker Carlson is the New Donald Trump’

Ever since the election last November, Fox News has suffered a crushing decline. For the first time in twenty years they fell to third place behind MSNBC and CNN As a result of that collapse, the GOP’s propaganda network has embarked on a mission to win back the Donald Trump devotee demographic that was previously their exclusive property.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Donald Trump

Some of the ratings shrinkage was due to newer and more radical right-wing outlets seducing disaffected StormTrumpers after the decisive victory by Joe Biden. Although Newsmax and One America News Network are also hurting ratings-wise now. The strategy adopted by Fox News has been to shift even farther to the right. They fired some of their more “moderate” presenters and canceled programs that weren’t stridently conservative hype factories.

What’s more, Fox News shifted the content of their existing programs to even more fanatical extremism. The CEO admitted publicly that the network’s mission is to oppose Biden. And no one on Fox News has answered that call more fervently than Tucker Carlson. Some of his recent unhinged diatribes include…

On Sunday morning, CNN’s Brian Stelter opened his program, Reliable Sources, with a monologue about Carlson that hit all the right notes (video below). The theme was that “Tucker Carlson is the New Donald Trump.” It’s hard to know who should be more offended by this comparison. They are both so reprehensible that it’s too close a contest to predict. But Stelter had the goods to back it up:

“Tucker Carlson is the new Donald Trump. Tucker has taken Trump’s place as a right-wing leader, as an outrage generator, as a fire-starter. And it’s all happening on Fox just like Trump’s campaign did. Which means Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch are ultimately responsible.

“Think about all the ways these two men are similar. Everyday Carlson is throwing bombs, making online memes, offending millions of people. Also delighting millions of others. Tapping into white male rage and resentment. Stoking distrust of Big Tech and the media. Generally coarsening the discourse. Never apologizing for anything. And setting the GOP’s agenda. Sounds like a recently retired president, right?”

Right! And it’s no accident. Carlson has always been a brazen self-promoter whose primary motivations were to advance his own welfare. Now he sees an opening to raise his profile among a group of people who are like cult followers left adrift when their leader has been deposed. And he’s milking it for all it’s worth. For example, these are few of Carlson’s recent tele-tantrums:

Carlson doesn’t care if he’s leading his flock off of sanity’s cliffs edge. He doesn’t care if he’s harming the country or the desperate people who are sucked into his web of lies. And Fox News doesn’t care either. Stelter closed his monologue with this cogent observation:

“It’s ultimately all about the Murdoch’s and what they want. How they’re gonna keep the profits flowing. By giving the viewers more and more radicalized content. Led by Tucker Carlson.”

The fact that a cable network can operate with such reckless abandonment of principles and callous disregard for people’s welfare is frightening. And while the responsibility rests with shameless liars like Carlson, the management cannot pretend to be blameless. The fault lies with everyone contributing to the madness and the inflammatory rhetoric that is poisoning the weak minds their audience. But sadly, their audience aren’t the only victims. Carlson and Fox are more broadly dangerous because their purposeful lies and disinformation are driving the nation apart. And that’s makes victims of us all.

COVIDIOTS: Fox News Accidentally Reminds Viewers that Republicans Hate America

The first major legislation of 2021 was passed and signed into law by President Joe Biden on Thursday. It was the American Rescue Plan (ARP) that provided $1.9 trillion dollars of relief and stimulus funds to help people and businesses suffering through the deadly COVID pandemic. The bill was broadly popular across the country and across the political spectrum, including by a majority of Republicans.

Fox News Alert

Nevertheless, the Republican Party that inhabits Congress was uniformly opposed to the plan. Every single member of the GOP in the House and the Senate voted against it, despite it’s support among their own constituents. And that wholesale rejection of what may be be the most popular legislation in generations was also displayed on the Republican Propaganda Network, aka Fox News.

Fox News spent the last week maligning both the bill and its Democratic sponsors, especially President Biden. Well, that’s when they weren’t throwing hissy fits about the alleged “cancelling” of Dr. Seuss or Mr. Potato Head. For the most part Fox ignored Biden’s public events in favor of embarrassingly trivial distractions or ludicrous attempts at criticism.

However, on Friday Fox News tried a new tactic. They actually covered (briefly) Biden’s announcement of his plans to educate the public about the benefits of the ARP and how they can take full advantage of it (video below). Of course, Fox’s idea of covering any Democratic event involves portraying it in the most negative and, if possible, frightening way they can dream up. To that end Fox aired part of the Biden speech with this message below the video: “Biden Celebrates Deal No Republican Supported.”

Sometimes it’s particularly difficult to figure out what’s going on behind the sloped foreheads of Fox News staffers. Surely they believed that this message would advance their ultra-rightist agenda and appeal to their glassy-eyed audience of StormTrumpers. However, there’s a pretty good chance that Fox is just reminding their viewers that every Republican in Congress voted against a bill that the vast majority of them supported.

To the extent that this flagrantly biased graphic was so poorly thought out that it results in alienating people from the GOP, we should be grateful for Fox’s stupidity. Unfortunately, that same aspect of asininity more often traps their audience in the heavy spin cycle of their brainwashing machine. So we can’t really enjoy these random acts of mindlessness. But for this fleeting moment in time, it’s kinda fun.

Fox News is ‘Over the 500,000 Dead’ from COVID, Demands More Trump Praise

Just when you thought you couldn’t be more nauseated by the callous insensitivity of cretinous Fox News Trump-fluffers, another one bursts through the basement floor to find a new and more disgusting low. They appear to be on an unholy mission to dissociate entirely from humanity. They can stop now. They’ve arrived.

Donald Trump, Mask, Fox News

On Friday morning’s episode of Fox and Friends, the “Curvy Couch” potatoes eagerly leapt into a segment aimed at disparaging the speech that President Joe Biden gave on Thursday night. He was addressing the nation’s current state with regard to the COVID pandemic. That speech was widely lauded for achieving a difficult balance between mourning the past and hope for the future.

Except, of course, on Fox News where it was predictably maligned by the usual suspects, including Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and Mark Levin who called it “the most disgusting, propagandistic speech that a demagogue, even a politician, has ever given.” Hyperbole much?

Throughout the speech Fox News displayed messages begging their viewers to stay tuned for “live reactions from Tucker Carlson.”

However, the Fox regulars are going to have to try harder to exceed the heinous heartlessness of Fox “Friend” Brian Kilmeade. Here is what he had to say the morning after Biden’s compassionate consolation:

“We don’t need to go over the 500,000 dead, we had that moment. Let’s talk about the future moving forward. Every time he has a chance to praise the previous administration, he not only doesn’t praise, he kicks them in the groin.”

REALLY? Kilmeade thinks the nation should just “move forward” after having having lost more than half a million souls. Tens of millions of families are grieving. But in Kilmeade’s diseased brain their “moment” is over and that’s all they get. As if the pain has subsided and the prospect of dining out and getting haircuts will provide all the solace that’s needed now. WTF is wrong with him? And, by the way, his co-hosts who said nothing, and his bosses, Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch, who allow this sort of garbage air every day.

What’s more, Kilmeade thinks that concern for our deceased brethren should be replaced by accolades to Donald Trump, the single person most responsible for the hundreds of thousands of fatalities, many of which were avoidable, but for his negligence, incompetence, and deliberate malfeasance. Kilmeade thinks it was Biden’s obligation to pay tribute to a remorseless Trump in a speech aimed at consoling a somber and fearful nation.

Kilmeade doesn’t give a damn about the casualties of the coronavirus, but he’s damn perturbed about a figurative kick in the groin to Trump, which actually didn’t exist in Biden’s speech at all. In fact, Kilmeade was so vexed by the Biden address that he made up numerous “offenses” and other reasons to ignore reality and attack those who are actually contributing to the healing. For instance, after disparaging Biden’s sincere attempts to unify a broken nation, he went after Dr. Anthony Fauci in an unhinged tirade that was replete with lies and purposefully distorted misrepresentations of Dr. Fauci’s comments over the past year:

“Can we stop praising Anthony Fauci, saying he is world renown? Everyone might know him, but I don’t know how many people should be listening to him. […] He has been wrong every step of the way.”

SERIOUSLY? And Trump was right? Trump, who said the coronavirus was no worse than the common flu? Trump, who politicized the pandemic that he claimed would magically disappear in a matter of days? Trump, who peddled quack cures like bleach and hydroxychloroquine and advocated “herd mentality” (sic)? Trump, who took no responsibility for the devastation he caused, and still doesn’t? Trump, who admitted that he downplayed the severity of the pandemic?

Yeah, that Trump. That’s who Fox News thinks should be celebrated in lieu of “wasting” more time consoling the aggrieved and honoring their memories. It’s just the latest loathsome commentary on a network dedicated to worshiping their cult leader. But if you expect this to be the rock bottom, you don’t know Fox News.

Fox News Hits Hypocrisy Milestone: 50 Days Without Covering Biden Press Events

This article updates last week’s “Fox News Obsesses Over Biden Press Conferences – That They Refuse to Air.” Since then Fox News has made it a daily practice to count the days until Joe Biden holds a formal press conference. They already know that one will be held before the end of March, yet they continue to harp on the matter.

Fox News, Joe Biden

Fox News relentlessly aired every public utterance by Donald Trump for five years. His tediously repetitive cult rallies were staples of Fox’s programming. His Coronavirus Task Force briefings got live coverage, but only when he emceed them. His staged photo-ops, bill signings, and lie-riddled “chopper talks” consumed hours of Fox airtime. And it didn’t matter to Fox that Trump spent most of his press avails flagrantly lying and insulting the reporters.

However, now that Joe Biden is residing in the White House, Fox News has adopted an entirely different editorial approach to covering the President of the United States. While Biden hasn’t held a formal news conference, he has taken questions on numerous occasions addressing a diverse array of subjects including the COVID-19 pandemic, racial equity, climate change, healthcare, and immigration. But to date Fox News has not aired a single White House press briefing, which the Biden team has returned to doing daily.

On Thursday Fox News celebrated what they called a “milestone.” The historical landmark their “reporters” allegedly uncovered was that “Biden hits 50-day milestone of going without a formal news conference as president.” The truth is that Fox News hit a 50 day milestone of not covering Biden’s press events. What’s more, we know that when Biden does hold a press conference, Fox will be covering the “canceling” of a Muppet, or a sleazy pillow huckster, or some other ridiculous, politically partisan, culture war demagoguery instead.

Fox’s obsessive whining about Biden’s press schedule highlighted what they considered to be a critical point. “The report,” Fox News said, “also drew attention to aides who yell at reporters to leave when Biden finishes his comments, drawing criticism that Biden appears to need protection from probing questions.” That, of course is something that Trump’s press aides would never do…

DumbFox: Press Secretary Psaki Torpedoes Doocy of Fox News – Again!

The best evidence that Fox News is not a credible news enterprise is the fact that they don’t have any actual journalists on staff or news bureaus. They never break stories, just disgorge biased commentaries about stories from other sources. Their programs are hosted by entertainers and opinion mongers.

Jen Psaki

One of the worst examples of “reporting” comes from Fox’s Peter Doocy. Not only does have no journalism education or training at all, he’s a product of nepotism, being the son of Fox and Friends co-host Steve Doocy. And Fox News named this low achiever a White House correspondent following the election of Joe Biden.

Doocy has has attended the daily White House press briefings that have been reinstated by Biden’s press secretary Jen Psaki after the Trump administration halted them. His performance there has been, to be generous, underwhelming. His questions are purposefully loaded, but poorly constructed and easily rebutted. And there is no better example of that than his question on Wednesday that resulted in this exchange (video below):

Doocy: You’ve been telling migrants for a month now that now is not the time to come. But they are coming in bigger numbers every day. So do you have a messaging problem?
Psaki: I would say that in the last administration we had a morality problem. Children were being pulled from the arms of their parents and kids were being sent back on a treacherous journey. That’s not the approach of this administration.

Nice try Doocy. Psaki’s instant response effectively defused Doocy’s attempted gotcha. And she did it by reminding people of the “morality problem” that was integral to virtually everything Trump did.

The notion that an American president has a “messaging” strategy of any kind with migrants is bizarre. They are not the audience for presidential communications and can’t be expected to comply with advice or demands that emanate from the White House. They didn’t during the Trump administration, and they won’t now. They are often desperate people driven by fundamentals of humanity like fear, poverty, and hopes for a better life. Doocy doesn’t comprehend that. But Psaki does. She elaborated saying that…

“We made a policy decision that that was the right, humane step to take. But I think it’s also important for people to understand that the vast majority of people who come to our border are turned away, are sent back to their country. We’re talking here about unaccompanied children. What our focus is on is ensuring that there are safe places for these kids to go where they have access to educational resources, health and medical attention, legal assistance as needed, and that we can expedite the vetting so that they can get to families and sponsors where they have their cases adjudicated.”

That’s the difference between an administration that has compassion for people in distress, and the Trump model that was based on fomenting hatred and division. It’s the difference between understanding the value of immigration versus an America First xenophobia. It’s the difference between seeking solutions rather than political wedge issues. And Psaki is masterfully demonstrating how a competent, caring, knowledgeable press secretary does her job. Something we haven’t seen for four long years.

Fox News Faux ‘Experts’ Reject CDC Guidance For People Fully Vaccinated For COVID-19

The chasm between Fox News and reality continues to grow wider every day. Their hosts and guests are devoted to spreading flagrant falsehoods and easily refuted disinformation that contributes massively to the volume of sheer ignorance in America. But worse, it isn’t just idiocy-inducing, it’s dangerous, and even deadly.

Fox News, Covid

On Monday’s edition of Tucker Carlson’s White Nationalist Hour on Fox News (video below), he interviewed a frequent guest, Alex Berenson, whose primary credential for appearing on Fox is his facility for lying about subjects for which he has no knowledge or experience. In this case it’s the coronavirus pandemic. That’s a subject where studies have proven that watching Fox News actually increases fatalities.

Berenson’s prior Fox outings have seen him declaring that masks don’t work, asserting that lockdowns are ineffective and political, and advocating herd immunity by everyone deliberately getting infected. Were Berenson’s advice to be taken tens, maybe hundreds, of thousands more Americans would be dead. But that hasn’t stopped him from disgorging his anti-scientific blather, which Carlson eagerly agrees with.

Carlson introduced Berenson, noting that he was “baffled” by the new CDC guidance for those who have been fully vaccinated. Which might explain Carlson’s perpetual facial contortion. Berenson explained it to Carlson saying that the guidelines are “unrealistic” and that the vaccines themselves are phony:

“It is increasingly clear that the vaccines aren’t quite as effective as that 95% headline figure given. So the honest thing to do say is ‘Look vaccines aren’t 95% effective. They’re not gonna be the miracle that ends this tomorrow, or in a week or a month. We’re still gonna have to live with this on some level.'”

Berenson went on to offer the recklessly fatal advise that “You can drop a lot of the nonsense that we’ve been telling you need to do for the last year,” and that the CDC’s guidance is “totally unrealistic.” To which Carlson replied, in a moment of unintended self-awareness, “Yes, well, lying begets lying.” And who would know that better than Carlson?

Berenson has degrees in economics and history, but nothing relating to medicine or healthcare. Yet he he is presented as an expert on infectious diseases and pandemic management. His shoddy analysis contradicts doctors and epidemiologists with decades of actual relevant experience. But more troubling is that the Fox babble breeds public reluctance to get the vaccine that will not only protect them and their families, it will put the whole nation on a path to normality as virus transmission recedes and variants are suppressed.

Berenson and Carlson pretend to be interested in people being able to live more normal lives, but what they propose will only make that less likely, and only after more tragic loss of life. Why anyone would listen to Berenson is beyond comprehension. Last October he tweeted that projections of “500,000 US #Covid deaths by spring” was an example of the experts being “wrong over and over.”

Berenson may have a point. The actual number to date is more than 525,000, and it isn’t even Spring yet. That’s the sort of “expertise” that Fox News viewers are being fed on a daily basis. It’s a diet of dangerously ignorant lies driven by right-wing politics and ratings. And the sad part is that these cretins simply don’t care how many people suffer due to their egos and greed.

For good measure, in the same program Carlson displayed his rank bigotry by complaining about essential workers being prioritized for vaccine distribution. What bothered him about this is that many people in “essential” occupations are racial and ethnic minorities. Carlson concluded, therefore, that white people (who are currently way over-represented among those vaccinated) would be adversely affected. He called it “eugenics.” And aside from this being a disgusting display of overt racism, it’s also hypocrisy on a grand scale. After all, he doesn’t believe the vaccine is actually effective or needed. So what’s he bitching about? Other than his perception that people of color are being treated fairly for once.

SO WHAT? The Dumbest Man on Fox News Isn’t ‘Inspired’ By Biden’s Schedule

Viewers of Fox News have always been suckered into an alternative reality that advances the interests of ultra-rightists and conspiracy crackpots. And that mission is still being pursued by Fox News as they attempt to construct a world in which President Joe Biden doesn’t even exist. it’s a fantasy that feeds the yearnings of Fox’s most avid followers.

In the six weeks since Biden’s inauguration, Fox News has struggled to come up with legitimate, or even plausible, criticisms. Biden’s nascent presidency has already succeeded in profound ways that the American people are solidly in favor of. Consequently, Fox’s hysterical efforts to malign Biden have produced nothing but ludicrous faux outrages and well deserved mockery. How else to respond to relentless and utterly false contrivances about Dr. Seuss and Mr. Potato Head?

Into this torrent of turpitude comes Jesse Watters, widely recognized as “The Dumbest Man on Fox News.” And that’s not an easy dishonor to achieve. On the Saturday evening episode of his program, Watters sought to belittle Biden’s work ethic:

“The President hasn’t been working up a sweat. He calls lids early. He goes to bed early. He takes weekends off. I see his schedule. It’s not inspiring.”

Really? First of all, who cares if Watters is “inspired” by Biden’s productivity? It is a foregone conclusion that he – and the rest of his Fox confederates – are going to be dismissive of everything that Biden and the Democrats do. But more to the point, Watters is so wildly off base it’s laughable. Every point in his mini-rant is patently false. Leaving out his his infantile reference to presidential perspiration, let’s look at each of Watters’ assertions:

  • Watters apparently doesn’t know what a “lid” is. For the record, it’s a term used by the White House communications office to indicate that there won’t be any public statements or events for the remainder of the day. It isn’t invoked by the President, and it doesn’t mean he/she isn’t working.
  • Watters has no idea what time Biden goes to bed, and it isn’t something that is reported on the White House schedule. Although sufficient sleep is critical for good health. Trump’s team brags about his long hours, but sleep deprivation diminishes mental acuity, produces hallucinations, and causes anxiety and psychoses. There’s a reason it’s used as a form of torture.
  • This weekend Biden was working on his COVID relief and stimulus plan, which passed in the Senate late Saturday. He also signed an executive order on expanding access to voting. He also presided over vaccine production and administration. And, by the way, he spent some quality time with his family.

If Watters wants to take a president to task for hardly working, he missed his chance while Trump was occupying the White House. Watters never once complained that Trump played golf at least 298 times (an average of once every five days) at a cost of $145 million taxpayer dollars (paid to his own golf resorts). Nor was Watters bothered by Trump’s “executive time,” which consisted primarily of tweeting and watching hour after hour of Fox News. And who can count the wasted hours Trump spent performing his psycho-comedy routine for the cultish followers at campaign rallies that Watters effusively praised?

While Watters claims to have seen Biden’s schedule, his vision must have been severely impaired during Trump’s term. In fact, Watters was perfectly satisfied with Trump’s schedule when it said only that “President Trump will work from early in the morning until late in the evening. He will make many calls and have many meetings.” And not a peep about how much he sweats. Meanwhile, on Fox News…
