Trump’s Ego and Fear is Totally Out of Control in Monday Morning Rage-Tweeting

Throughout his occupation of the White House, Donald Trump demonstrated his servile obedience to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. Not only did he never utter a word of criticism, he slavishly praised Putin at every opportunity. That craven toadyism continued, and even escalated, since returning to civilian life.

Donald Trump, Padded Cell

However, Trump may have exceeded the boundaries of tolerance within which he has managed to get away with undermining American interests and subverting democracy. His noxious fawning over Putin during the hellacious assault on Ukraine has caused some of his most devoted disciples to back away. And in the face of that retreat, Trump is trying to overcompensate for his fear by pumping up his already gargantuan ego.

In a pair of desperate but impotent tweets on Monday morning, Trump lavished himself with ludicrous accolades. That’s nothing new for the malignant narcissist of Mar-a-Lago. But the quantity and the dishonesty he is capable of is still pretty impressive in a nauseating way. In his brief tweet tantrums Trump bragged that…

“I hope everyone is able to remember that it was me, as President of the United States, that got delinquent NATO members to start paying their dues.”

“There would be no NATO if I didn’t act strongly and swiftly.”

It was me that got Ukraine the very effective anti-tank busters (Javelins).’

If my energy policy had remained in place…the world would have had no problems whatsoever.”

“If the Election wasn’t Rigged, America would right now continue to have record-low gas prices, as it was under my Administration.”

There is so much wrong in that that it deserves some further attention.

First of all, Trump is trying to take credit for saving NATO. Never mind that he has repeatedly attacked NATO, calling it “obsolete” and sought to withdraw from it. He was serving Putin’s purpose by attempting to weaken the alliance. And he’s flagrantly lying about having raised hundreds of billions of dollars by getting member nations to pay their dues. There are no “dues” to belong to NATO. Just voluntary defense budget goals. And Trump didn’t even have any impact on that.

The Javelin missiles he’s referring to are the ones that he actually used to try to blackmail Ukraine into fabricating dirt about then-candidate Joe Biden. That’s why Trump was impeached the first time. And the funding for those weapons was actually allocated by Congress during the Obama administration. It was Trump who obstructed their delivery.

Trump’s energy policy did not produce energy independence. That was achieved prior to his election, and it was lost in 2020, during his term. The low gas prices he touted were the result of a deadly pandemic (that was exacerbated by his incompetence) during which the demand – and therefore the price – of gas dropped. And the notion that the U.S. has oil resources could exceed Saudi Arabia and Russia combined is pure insanity. As is his ridiculous assertion that “the world would have had no problems whatsoever” were he he still in charge. The world has not forgotten that during his term in office there were nothing but problems.

However, Trump is right that the war in Ukraine should never have happened. But notice that Trump doesn’t – and hasn’t ever – criticized Vladimir Putin for having started the war. In fact, Trump blames it on the “rigged” election, which to him is the cause of everything from the extinction of the dinosaurs to tooth decay.

Trump is displaying the classic symptoms of malignant narcissist. He is psychologically incapable of acknowledging any personal faults. So he will blame whatever is going badly on someone/anyone else, and invent things to congratulate himself for. We can expect this sort of deranged behavior to continue, and to become even more severe, as his world falls apart around him.

Hopefully, we can mitigate the harm that he and his cult followers are capable of creating. The next couple of years will be challenging for America and for the sane and responsible Americans.

CNN: The Colbert News Network? ‘Late Show’ Exec Producer, Chris Licht, Hired to Helm CNN

CNN recently announced that its CEO, Jeff Zucker, had resigned due to his not having disclosed a personal relationship with one of the network’s executives. He was leaving soon anyway in the wake of the pending merger between CNN’s parent company, WarnerMedia, and Discovery Networks. But Trump got a cheap thrill from the news of Zucker’s departure and released a typically infantile statement calling him “a world-class sleazebag” and offering “congratulations to all!”

Stephen Colbert & Trump Baby

However, describing Zucker as a “sleazebag” is just another example of projection by Trump, who is best known for being a twice impeached, thrice married, pussy grabbing, porn star boinking, charity scamming, business bankrupting, insurrection inciting, pathologically lying, racist, and Putin loving traitor.

Trump may have been excited by the news of Zucker stepping aside, but he’s going to be somewhat less enthused when he finds out who is replacing him. According to CNN

“Chris Licht, the producer who created ‘Morning Joe,’ revamped ‘CBS This Morning’ and revitalized ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,’ has been selected to run CNN once Discovery merges with WarnerMedia this spring, according to three sources with knowledge of the plan.”

That’s right. Licht, who is currently the executive producer and showrunner of “The Late Show,” will soon be running CNN. Now, some people may think that Stephen Colbert’s producer is an odd choice to run a news network. However, prior to joining Colbert’s program Licht had worked in television news for more than twenty years. His experience in journalism was evident as Colbert’s producer. There is plenty of politics and other news incorporated into the show, both in its comedy bits and its guest bookings. CNN’s announcement included Licht’s impressive media resume:

“Licht’s journalism roots are in local news. He worked at KNBC, the powerhouse NBC affiliate in Los Angeles, during the O.J. Simpson trial. He later worked for NBC’s affiliate in San Francisco. In 2005 he joined MSNBC as the executive producer for MSNBC’s “Scarborough Country,” hosted by Joe Scarborough. Then he built a morning show around Scarborough and colleagues, occasionally even appearing on-air from the control room. In 2011 Licht leapt to CBS and engineered “CBS This Morning,” a brand new production of CBS News. He moved to “The Late Show” in 2016 and has worked closely with Colbert ever since.”

The selection of Licht is something of a relief. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, who will run the merged Warner and Discovery combo, is considered to be more conservative, and there was speculation that he would steer CNN to the right. But the selection of Licht is a pretty good sign that that isn’t the case.

Even more fun is the thought of how Licht’s appointment will impact Trump and the media hating GOP. Imagine the horror that will envelop Trump when he gets wind of this. There is something eerily timely about a producer of a comedy program becoming the head of a news network that will be covering a former comedian, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is the head of state in Ukraine. Then again, what could be more appropriate than a comedy professional covering a joke like Donald Trump?

Just for fun, here is a clip of Colbert appearing as a guest on a Russian talk show in 2017:

UPDATE: On Monday night Stephen Colbert paid tribute to his soon to be former Executive Producer in a touching and hilarious segment. He even used the same line I did about CNN becoming “Colbert News Network.” Maybe that joke was ripe for the taking, but I’m still taking credit for it. ?

Trump Doubles Down on His Treasonous Putin Puffery While Continuing to Insult Biden and America

Donald Trump simply refuses to let a single day go by without contaminating every public debate with his diseased and delusional misperceptions of the world. And Saturday was no different as he spoke at the ultra-rightist Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). His address to the CPAC crowd was predictably riddled with lies and exaltations of himself.

Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin

Among Trump’s preposterous observations was a reprise of his theory for why Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine. According to Trump it was because of the “rigged” 2020 presidential election. Because what atrocity isn’t the result of that throbbing thorn in his tiny paw? He also tried to sell the absurdity that Putin wouldn’t have invaded Ukraine if he was still president. Although there’s some kernel of truth to that. Putin wouldn’t have needed to invade Ukraine because Trump was giving him all the things he wanted the invasion to produce: weaken NATO and the EU, expand Russia’s sphere of influence, sow discord among Western allies, and throw American democracy into disarray.

True to form, Trump elaborated on his recent comments celebrating the intellect of his hero, Vladimir, whom he regaled as “smart,” “savvy,” and a “genius.” He told his glassy-eyed cult followers that…

“Yesterday reporters asked me if I thought President Putin was smart. I said ‘Of course he’s smart.’ To which I was greeted with ‘Oh, that’s such a terrible thing to say.’ The NATO nations, and indeed the world, as he looks over what’s happening strategically, with no repercussions or threats whatsoever, they’re not so smart. They’re looking the opposite of smart.

If you take over Ukraine we’re going to sanction you, they say. Sanction? Well, that’s a pretty weak statement. Putin is saying ‘Oh, they’re gonna sanction me. They’ve sanctioned me for the last twenty-five years. You mean I can take over a whole country and they’re gonna sanction me? You mean they’re not gonna blow us to pieces, at least psychologically?’ The problem is not that Putin is smart, which of course he’s smart. But the real problem is that our leaders are dumb. Dumb!”

First of all, Trump’s account of how he came to fawn over Putin is pure fiction. He wasn’t asked anything about this by reporters. He offered up his Putin praise unprompted at a Republican fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago. And yes, it is a terrible thing to say while the object of his affection was committing war crimes against innocent Ukrainians.

Furthermore, Trump’s assertion that there were “no repercussions or threats” from NATO allies is a deliberate distortion of reality. NATO and President Biden made it clear that Putin would suffer swift and severe consequences if he went through with his invasion plans. Despite Trump’s ignorant belittling of the impact of sanctions, most experts agree that they will critically hamper Russia’s economy and its ability to sustain an occupation of Ukraine.

Note also that Trump’s implied solution is a military response to “blow [the Russians] to pieces.” That’s the sort reckless reaction that could escalate the crisis into the next world war. and it’s typical of his faux bravado. However, during an interview with Fox News Digital at CPAC, Trump displayed his impotence when asked if he had a message to Putin. The ordinarily blustering, pseudo-strongman replied weakly that “I have no message. I just think it’s a shame that this is going on.” It’s a shame? Well, that should make Putin squirm.

Finally, Trump doubles down on his adoration of Putin’s brilliance. But this time Trump embellishes it by insulting America’s leaders as “dumb.” And again, this comes during a time of conflict wherein Trump’s views can only be seen as emboldening the enemy. No doubt his remarks will be played repeatedly on Russian television. Just like the remarks by Fox News Putin lover, Tucker Carlson.

The propaganda value of a former president of the United States favoring Putin over the current president is incalculable. Which makes it unarguably treasonous on Trump’s part. Thankfully, we have a current president who knows precisely how to smack down a paper tiger like Trump. When asked what he though of Trump’s praise of Putin’s alleged genius, President Biden replied…

“I put as much stock in Trump saying that Putin’s a genius as I do when he called himself a stable genius.”

Tucker Carlson of Fox News Says Biden Chose Ketanji Brown Jackson to ‘Destroy’ the Supreme Court

Cementing his role as Fox News Senior White Nationalist, Tucker Carlson has delivered a nauseatingly bigoted monologue about President Biden’s nominee for the Supreme Court, Ketanji Brown Jackson. This comes just a few weeks after his frantic rant against the very notion of nominating a Black woman. While most of the nation’s credible legal analysts have acknowledged Judge Jackson’s credentials and experience, Carlson chose to malign and insult both her and the President.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Klan

On Friday’s episode of Carlson’s white-wing program, he engaged in an extended harangue against Biden’s campaign promise to nominate the first Black woman to the high court. In Carlson’s Euro-centric world, it is unthinkable to want to correct more than two hundred years of discrimination. So he lashed out at Biden for trying to “undermine” America’s institutions:

“Let’s say you really didn’t care about the country you lead. Let’s say you wanted to humiliate and degrade it and undermine its ancient institutions. What would you do? Well, you might take the single most important appointed position in the entire government and announce in public that you are filling that position on the basis of appearance. Not on the basis of skill or wisdom or fealty to the founding documents of the United States, but on the basis of the way the person looks.”

So in Carlson’s perverse view, Jackson is a nominee that would humiliate and degrade the Court. And, make no mistake, he’s basing that strictly on the way she looks. For the record, Biden did not nominate Jackson solely on the basis of appearance. He selected her because she is eminently qualified and deserving. And his choice was no more inappropriate than Ronald Reagan’s, when he promised to nominate the first woman.

Carlson doesn’t think it’s possible to find such a woman within the Black community. He thinks that doing so “would send a very clear message that you don’t like the country you run.” That’s rich coming from someone who has demonstrated his own hatred for America and love for Vladimir Putin and other American enemies. But he wasn’t finished with his hateful histrionics:

Now maybe she’s great, that’s not the point. The point is she was picked because of how she looks, so what does that tell you, not about the nominee, but about Joe Biden? It tells you that he is absolutely happy to defile a system built by other people over hundreds of years, that is the best system in the history of the world, and he is happy to destroy it. Doesn’t care at all.

So according to Carlson, Jackson would “defile” and even “destroy” the Supreme Court. But “maybe she’s great”? He went on to say that Jackson “isn’t much of a jurist. She’s not simply ignorant of the law, she is a political activist.” He complained that she could rule on a case upholding affirmative action at Harvard, asking “Do you want to live in that country? Most people don’t.”

Actually, most people do. Carlson cited part of a Fox News poll that found that 57% of voters said it’s “inappropriate” for the President to consider “only” African American women for the Court. What he left out from the same poll is that 63% supported Biden choosing a Black woman. Fox News reported on their poll saying that…

“Majorities are favorable across the board, with Democrats (91%), Black voters (81%), Hispanic voters (71%), voters under age 30 (70%) and women (65%) the most receptive.”

Notice that Fox News left out of their own reporting on their own poll that only 39% of Republicans supported the nomination of a Black woman. Gee, I wonder why Fox left out the part that illustrated how racist Republicans are? Also, on the broader question of affirmative action, a Gallup poll found that 62% of Americans support it, and noted that it was “the highest level of support recorded for such policies over the past 20 years.”

Carlson’s rancid racism was evident throughout this segment. He described his opposition to choosing a Black nominee saying that it was “because that’s Rwanda.” Really? And he had the audacity to say that “I’m not even attacking this woman personally,” moments after he said that she would defile the court and that she “isn’t much of a jurist,” and calling her “ignorant of the law.”

Carlson also complained that Judge Jackson was praised by progressives, because it inferred that she would be biased on the Court. But he never seemed to be bothered that all of the candidates that Donald Trump considered were taken from lists provided by the ultra-rightist Heritage Foundation and/or the Federalist Society. So Carlson is just as much a hypocrite as he is a racist. But then who didn’t know that already?

Hillary Clinton Hammers the Trump-Fluffing, Democracy-Hating, Radicalized Republican Party

The Republican Party in the era of Donald Trump has become a grotesque and dangerous political aberration. In its current rancid state it would be unrecognizable to members who recall even the relatively recent past when still hardcore conservatives like Bush and Reagan were its leaders.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Hillary Clinton

The Trumpists have transformed the GOP into a cult of personality wherein total obeisance to Dear Leader is mandated, and any deviation from total devotion is viewed as unforgivable disloyalty and sacrilege.

The manifestation of this amoral ministry is evident in the Party’s adoption of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin as a hallowed figure who is sanctified by Trump and favored by the Republican base over the popularly elected President Biden. Even the brutal invasion of Ukraine couldn’t pry a critical word about Putin from Trump. And Trump’s Propaganda Politburo (aka Fox News) was singing from the same hymnal. Especially Putin lover Tucker Carlson.

This decaying of a once mainstream party has not gone unnoticed. And the latest observer to raise a red flag is former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton. In an op-ed in The Atlantic, Clinton wrote about “A State of Emergency for Democracy.” The article made the point that “Trump has always had a personal attachment to Putin.” But Clinton went further to highlight how the rot has traveled down from the fish’s head (Trump) to its body (the GOP). What follows are a few choice excerpts:

“Russian president Vladimir Putin pines for the old Russian empire and takes Ukraine’s independence as a personal affront. But the invasion of Ukraine is not a limited regional dispute between neighbors. […] Ukraine is one flash point in a larger global struggle between democracy and autocracy — one that stretches from the steppes of Eastern Europe to the waters of the Indo-Pacific to the halls of the U.S. Capitol.”

“Much has been said about the assault on American democracy by a radicalized Republican Party […] Republican leaders are abandoning core tenets of American democracy.”

“It was dismaying but not surprising that Trump praised Putin’s move to recognize and occupy separatist enclaves in Ukraine as ‘genius’ and ‘savvy.’ That’s what we have come to expect from Trump. But even Republican leaders who still take a Reaganesque view of America’s role in the world and talk a good game about deterring Russia and competing with China are undercutting those goals by aiding and abetting Trump’s attacks on America’s democratic institutions.”

“Those Republican leaders promising tough sanctions on Putin’s economy and inner circle seem helpless to tamp down the pro-Russian sentiment in their party ignited by Trump, fanned on a daily basis by Tucker Carlson on Fox News.”

Clinton was remarkably prescient about the dangers of a Trump presidency and his unsavory association with Russia and Putin. In August of 2016 she posted an article on her website that asked “5 questions every voter should ask about Donald Trump’s bizarre relationship with Russia.” Voters still need to ask those questions. However, it isn’t just voters who should be questioning Trump and his Republican confederates. The media, the Democrats, and even conscientious Republicans (the few that might be left) should be concerned about the direction the GOP has taken.

Clinton’s op-ed is a comprehensive analysis of the disintegration of the Republican Party. It’s no wonder that Trump and his cult followers are so adamant about destroying her. They recently embarked on a campaign falsely accusing her of spying on Trump. And Trump himself has suggested that Clinton should be executed for the imaginary crimes he’s accusing her of. That’s the demented leader of today’s Republican Party. And the rest of his glassy-eyed flock is faithfully following his lead.

Fox News’ Stupid Son of a Doocy Asks Biden: Did You Underestimate ‘Worthy Adversary’ Putin?

President Joe Biden held a press conference on Thursday to inform the American people about what the administration is doing in response to Russia’s “unprovoked and unjustified” invasion of Ukraine (full video below). He revealed that the United States and it allies would immediately impose a set of severe economic sanctions to punish Putin’s brutal aggression. “Putin chose this war,” Biden said. “And now he and his country will bear the consequences.”

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Peter Doocy

Ordinarily, at times like these, the nation comes together to present a united front against such militaristic assaults on innocent and peaceful allies. However, Donald Trump’s Republican Party is already staking out a position that has been blatantly pro-Putin, as Trump has been doing himself.

So leave it to Fox News to contrive a question for Biden that frames the conflict in a decidedly warped perspective. When Biden called on Fox’s Peter Doocy, he asked the President the following question:

“Did you underestimate Putin and would you still describe him the way that you did in the summer, as a ‘worthy adversary’?”

With questions like this, can anyone fault Biden for having muttered under his breath last month that Doocy was a stupid son of a bitch? Someone needs to tell Doocy that his own question contradicts his biased premise. If Putin was described as “a worthy adversary,” then, by definition, he wasn’t underestimated. And that was the essence of Biden’s reply:

“I made it clear he was an adversary and I said that he was worthy. I didn’t underestimate him. … You heard the speech he made, almost an hour’s worth of speech as to why he was going into Ukraine. He has much larger ambitions than Ukraine. He wants to, in fact, reestablish the former Soviet Union. That is what this is about. And I think his ambitions are completely contrary to the place where the rest of the world has arrived.”

This is typical of how Doocy – and pretty much all of Fox’s openly partisan correspondents and pundits – approach questioning of Biden. There is no intention to obtain useful information or to bring understanding to their viewers. Their sole purpose is to create a negative narrative, and then to plant it into the minds of the willfully ignorant Fox audience.

That’s bad enough when it just involves conventional politics and policies. But when they use it to distort the circumstances surrounding a wartime crisis, it is irresponsible and destructive. And it can exacerbate the harm and hardships of both the American people and the victims of Putin’s aggression in Ukraine.

Unfortunately, the only thing that Fox News cares about is maligning Biden and the Democrats. And if it hurts the country and its interests, that’s just too bad. At Fox News, party and partisanship always come before country or the people.

Trump Phones Into Fox News to Offer His Idiotic, Egomaniacal Take on Putin’s Invasion of Ukraine

Russia’s most aggressively ambitious tyrant in 70 years, Vladimir Putin, has launched the attack on Ukraine that many people, including President Biden, were expecting. It is certain to result in needless hardship and human loss. And it comes at time when America’s right-wing Republican Trump cult has been shamelessly praising Putin and bitterly maligning Biden.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump TV Set

Donald Trump himself has been engaged in non-stop America-bashing. So it should come as no surprise that, in this moment of crisis, he would emerge from his Mar-a-Lago bunker to disgorge his utterly repugnant and worthless perspective on the tragedy that has befallen Ukraine. And that emergence would be facilitated, of course, by his anti-American Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News.

While the Russian invasion was still in progress, Trump called in to Fox News chat with devoted Trump-fluffer, Laura Ingraham (video below). And in the seven and a half minutes that she sucked up to him, Trump babbled, deflected, and exalted himself. But never once offered meaningful counsel, condolences to the Ukrainian people, or condemnation of his soul mate, Vladimir Putin and Russia. Ingraham asked a total of three questions, which Trump barely paid any attention to:

Ingraham’s First Question: You’re watching this unfold. You’re reaction to Putin’s threat if any Western nation, or any nation, intervenes with this Russian military action.
Trump: Well, this is something that should have never happened. It would not have happened during my administration. In fact. some people were saying why didn’t this take place over the last four years during our administration. And it didn’t for a very good reason. And I’ll explain that to you some day. But it wouldn’t have taken place. And it wouldn’t have taken place right now. And it’s a very sad thing for the world, for the country, and it’s certainly very sad for a lot of people that are gonna be needlessly killed.

Notice that Trump completely evaded the question. His answer to Ingraham asking for his “reaction to Putin’s threat if any nation intervenes,” was “This would not have happened during my administration,” which he repeated four times like a blathering crackhead. He had no idea how to respond to Putin’s threat, so he wrapped himself in a narcissistic cocoon, fixated on his delusions that everything would have been hunky dory just by his divine presence.

And since Trump declined to explain to Ingraham why Putin wouldn’t have invaded Ukraine if he were still occupying the White House, here is the actual explanation: Putin would not have needed to invade Ukraine because Trump was giving him everything he wanted without any military actions or threats. Putin wanted assurances that Ukraine would not join NATO. He wanted to weaken the European Union. He wanted to undermine democracy in the West, particularly in the United States. He wanted to expand Russia’s territorial influence. And Trump was already allowing him to do all of that. It’s only because Trump was booted out of office and replaced by a President who stood for American values of democracy and liberty that Putin decided he would have to achieve his totalitarian goals via force.

Ingraham’s Second Question: Give us sense though, you know Vladimir Putin. You’ve dealt with him. How would you have avoided this conflict? How would you have prevented these series of events from unfolding?
Trump: Well, look, I do know him, and I know him very well. We’ve had many, many times together. And I got along with him fantastically. Despite the fact that I shut down Nord Stream 2. [Edited to remove a bunch of irrelevant nonsense about Nord Stream 2] So I think that it’s a terrible thing. The way it started, I really don’t believe he wanted to do this initially. I think he wanted to do something and negotiate. And it just got worse and worse. And then he saw the weakness. And you know it really started with the weakness in Afghanistan and the way they pulled out of Afghanistan. I really believe that’s where he started thinking he can do this.

Once again, Trump completely evaded the question. When asked directly how he “would have avoided this conflict,” Trump just boasted that he “got along fantastically” with Putin (so what?), that he shut down the Nord Stream 2 oil pipeline (which he never did), and then he rambled on incoherently about Afghanistan in order to further disparage Biden. He didn’t approach anything resembling a plan to avoid the conflict. It was just more of his robo-talking points that he’s been disgorging for months.

Ingraham’s Third Question: President Trump, I want to ask you this. We understand that President Biden is monitoring this situation at the White House now and is gonna talk to the G7 tomorrow. Tomorrow? And he’s gonna talk to the nation sometime tomorrow as well. You’re reaction to that approach?
Trump: I don’t think he’s monitoring. I think he’s probably sleeping right now. This is a terrible thing. This is something that should have never happened. I really believe that it was Afghanistan. When he looked at that horrible, weak pullout.

This time Trump kind of stayed with the question. But his answer was just to lash out with his typically childish insults about Biden. For the record, Biden was also on the phone, but with his national security team, Ukrainian President Zelensky, and representatives of NATO, the EU, and the United Nations. Meanwhile, Trump, because his attention span is so limited, reverted back to the same diversions he deployed for the previous questions: It would never have happened, and Afghanistan.

To close the interview, Trump mashed together his long held and treasonous preference for Putin over Biden, his manically obsessive “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was rigged, and his mindlessly rote attacks on inflation and immigration…

Trump: Now [Putin] sees the weakness and the incompetence and the stupidity of this administration. And as an American I’m angry about it, and I’m saddened by it. And it all happened because of a rigged election. And that includes inflation. And that includes millions of people pouring in on a monthly basis.

And with that malicious assault on America during a time of crisis, Trump signed off. He was typically antagonistic toward the country he pretends to put first. He provided no encouragement for Americans who are facing the hardships that inevitably accompany war. He was just hostile, unpatriotic, and as always, egocentric and uncaring about anyone or anything but himself. So … same as it ever was with Trump.

Tucker Carlson of Fox News Rattles Off His Ridiculous Reasons for Why You Shouldn’t Hate Putin

At a time when there is an international crisis brewing between Russia and the West over the sovereignty of Ukraine, it is particularly unsettling to witness the ongoing love affair that Donald Trump and his anti-American confederates have with Russia’s brutal dictator, Vladimir Putin. Lately Trump has been openly siding with Putin and against the U.S. even more than he usually does.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Vladimir Putin

However, no one is more smitten with Putin than Fox News Vlad lover, Tucker Carlson. Night after night, Carlson pines for his paramour Putin, who he defends fiercely and praises ceaselessly. And on Tuesday night he unleashed a nauseatingly lovesick lecture on why nobody should hate Putin. Carlson’s litany of justifications for excusing Putin’s barbarous reign exceeded even his own prior expressions of adoration. He led off by bizarrely claiming that “Democrats in Washington have told you it’s your patriotic duty to hate Vladimir Putin.” Then he launched this hideous harangue…

“It might be worth asking yourself, since it is getting pretty serious: What is this really about? Why do I hate Putin so much? Has Putin ever called me a racist? Has he threatened to get me fired for disagreeing with him? Has he shipped every middle-class job in my town to Russia? Did he manufacture a worldwide pandemic that wrecked my business and kept me indoors for two years? Is he teaching my children to embrace racial discrimination? Is he making fentanyl? Is he trying to snuff out Christianity? Does he eat dogs? These are fair questions. And the answer to all of them is ‘No.'”

First of all, nobody is pushing for anyone to “hate” Putin. But decent, freedom loving people do think Putin’s inhumane totalitarianism should be vigorously opposed. That leaves out people like Carlson and Trump, who are unnaturally drawn to domineering dictators.

More to the point, Carlson’s rant consists mostly of personal grievances. He’s saying that, since Putin has never directly offended him by calling him a racist (which he is), then he’s a stand up guy. What’s more, Carlson is implying that Democrats have committed the offenses in his tedious tirade, from sending jobs to Russia (which is Trump’s thing), to manufacturing a pandemic (that Democrats have worked to end with little help from the GOP), to teaching children to be racists (like Carlson), to eating dogs (???). None of that is remotely connected to reality.

What Carlson thinks are “fair questions” could be bounced right back to him. Hey Tucker, it might be worth asking yourself: Why do you hate Hitler so much? Or Charles Manson? Or Osama bin Laden? None of them did any of the things you just rattled off either. Does that mean they are all upstanding examples of morality and warrant your respect and support?

For the record, there are plenty of good reasons to hate Putin, if one was so disposed. He has poisoned his political opponents and had critics assassinated. He’s rigged elections and shut down media. He’s suppressed LGBTQ+ persons and minorities. He’s invaded and annexed other nations and supported overthrowing democratic governments. He’s imposed propaganda in the press and in schools. He’s made himself president for life. and then there’s that little thing about his having interfered illegally in American elections on Trump’s behalf.

For much of the rest of this segment wherein he glorified Putin, Carlson bashed American leaders at a time when they are trying to avert war. He went after President Biden, of course, He spent an inordinate amount of time maligning Vice-President Kamala Harris. He sarcastically mocked America as a “superpower” that “would never put a senile man and an imbecile in charge of the country.” And he wasn’t even talking about Trump and Pence.

Not to be left out, Trump posted a statement Wednesday morning that similarly celebrated Putin, while insulting the man that the American people elected and who, unlike Trump or Carlson, is working to keep them safe and improve their lives. “Putin is playing Biden like a drum,” Trump tweeted. “It is not a pretty thing to watch!”

Trump is perhaps the worst person on the planet to talk about being “played” by Putin. His own national security aide, Fiona Hill, said that “There’s no Team America for Trump. Not once did I see him do anything to put America first. Not once. Not for a single second.” And his communications director, Stephanie Grisham, revealed that he reassured Putin that “I’m going to act a little tougher with you for a few minutes. But it’s for the cameras, and after they leave we’ll talk.” And who could forget the infamous Helsinki Treason Summit? Maybe the real reason that Trump is upset because bending over for Putin is his thing.

Traitor Trump Can’t Stop Attacking America, but Won’t Condemn His Hero Putin’s Invasion of Ukraine

For the entire four years that Donald Trump occupied the White House, he never once criticized Vladimir Putin. To the contrary, he lavished Putin praise and justified his atrocities. That servile submission to America’s most foreboding foe was a constant reminder of where Trump misplaced his always self-serving disloyalties.

Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin

Trump’s own national security aide, and renowned expert on Ukraine and Russia, Fiona Hill, did not mince words when describing Trump’s aversion to America. “There’s no Team America for Trump,” Hill said. “Not once did I see him do anything to put America first. Not once. Not for a single second.”

On Tuesday morning Trump unleashed yet another exhibition of his rancid anti-patriotism. In a statement posted by his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill, Trump took some familiar swipes at the U.S. and its response to the invasion of Ukraine by Trump’s pals in Russia, saying that…

“If properly handled, there was absolutely no reason that the situation currently happening in Ukraine should have happened at all. I know Vladimir Putin very well, and he would have never done during the Trump Administration what he is doing now, no way!”

Tuesday morning quarterbacking is always easier than actually coming up with effective policy. Notice that Trump didn’t bother to lay out what he considered “proper handling.” That’s because his policy was always to kowtow to Putin. Trump is right that Putin would never have done what he’s doing now during the Trump administration. He didn’t need to. Trump was doing it for him. Trump was working arduously to undermine NATO, which is what Putin’s goal is today with regard to Ukraine. Trump continued, saying that…

“Russia has become very very rich during the Biden Administration, with oil prices doubling and soon to be tripling and quadrupling. The weak sanctions are insignificant.”

First of all, oil prices have not doubled, much less tripled or quadrupled. As usual, Trump is exaggerating (i.e. lying) to keep his cult followers disinformed. Oil prices have gone up, but then you know who else is getting rich on that? America and U.S. oil companies. And it will benefit the U.S. far more than Russia when the sanctions kick in that prevent Russia from selling its oil, and the U.S. assumes those markets. But we need to remember that oil is an international commodity and its prices are not set by the U.S. or U.S. policy.

Trump went on to repeat his old standard lies about his allegedly having achieved energy independence for America (which was achieved before his term in office), and spat out disingenuous complaints about Putin’s wealth. If Trump actually cared about that, the best way of cutting into Putin’s oil profits would be to transition faster to renewable energy. Which Trump and the GOP oppose.

Finally, Trump posted another statement attacking our ally, Germany, for shutting down the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. That’s something that Trump advocated before he felt the need to flip flop because now it is being done as part of the sanctions package put together by NATO and President Biden.

What makes this criticism of Germany even worse is that Trump sourced his complaint with a link to an article on RT, (Russia Today), a Kremlin-backed disinformation network that is registered as a “foreign agent” in the United States. Which is just further evidence of Trump’s embrace of Russia and its anti-American propaganda. As if any further evidence were needed. And for good measure, Trump phoned in to the Travis and Sexton radio show to humiliate himself by slobbering even more over Putin…

Trump’s TRUTH Social Twitter Ripoff Follows in the Footsteps of His Prior Failures

If there is one thing that is consistent about Donald Trump, it’s his unchallenged status as America’s biggest loser. He has seemingly boundless ability to screw up everything he touches. The former reality TV game show host, who was evicted from the White House after a single disastrous term, also has a resume of humiliating failure that is unmatched. It includes his four bankrupt casinos, his fraudulent university, his steaks, his vodka, his airline, his D.C. hotel, his scam charitable foundation that was shut down because it was stealing funds, and so much more.

Trump also bears the dishonor of being the first president in history to be impeached twice. He is the first president in decades to leave office with fewer people employed than when he started. He exploded the national debt by cutting taxes for corporations and the wealthy. He incited deadly riots in Washington, D.C. by insurrectionist mobs. And he is directly responsible for the deaths of nearly a million Americans due to his incompetent mishandling of the COVID pandemic.

Now Trump has proudly launched what he delusionally believes will supplant Twitter in the social media space. But his ironically named “TRUTH” Social (named after Russia’s news outlet Pravda, which means truth?) got off to an ignominious beginning. As reported by the Daily Beast

“Would-be users of Trump’s new app merely struggled to create an account after Sunday night’s launch. Around 11 p.m. ET, select users who tried to create accounts were repeatedly met with a red error warning: ‘Something went wrong. Please try again.'” […]

“On Sunday, Devin Nunes, the former Republican congressman-turned-CEO of Trump Media & Technology Group, said that he hopes the new app will be fully operational by the end of March.”

This inauspicious introduction was met with appropriate mockery. Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu tweeted that “Many people say that if #TruthSocial can’t even handle opening new accounts, how will it keep your account from being hacked? Also, the problems won’t be fixed until late March. So is their staff like 2 people, the failed Devin Nunes and his cousin’s friend who is the coder?”

From the other side of the aisle Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger also tweeted that “Social media sadly thrives on conflict. #truthsocial (which is ironically named) will be boring and fail, because it will be all Trump-fed drones. BUT, please don’t come back to real social media if you left for Trump and Nunes great idea. You get your one shot.”

These are all good points. What’s more, it bears noting that TRUTH Social’s user base has a ways to go before it can considered competitive with Twitter’s 200,000,000 users. At present there is a significant difference in the potential for interactions between the two platforms. For instance, Trump had more than 88,000,000 followers on Twitter. He has 175 followers on TRUTH Social. Country singer Travis Tritt has 286,000 followers on Twitter. He has 40 followers on TRUTH Social. GOP Rep. Madison Cawthorn has 364,000 followers on Twitter. He has 0 followers on TRUTH Social. With stats like that Trump’s cult disciples are surely going to rush to delete their Twitter accounts and live exclusively on TRUTH Social. Right?

It’s easy to see why Trump is so anxious to make this move. He has been banned on Twitter. And he has lost about 98% of his likes and retweets that are now posted by his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill, Liz Harrington. But he is unlikely to restore his former online glory. For one thing, his Twitter clone (built on open source software for which he is violating the license of the original developers) will be competing with other conservative social media sites (Gab, Parlar, Gettr, and the MyPillow guy’s FRANKSpeech) that beat him to the market (and are failing anyway).

It is also notable that Trump is hailing his venture as a haven for free speech. Which is hysterical given that the terms of service explicitly prohibit any criticism of the site or its operators. Which means that there can be no criticism of its Chairman, Donald Trump.

However, Trump has a business plan that he’s convinced will rocket him to the top of the conservative garbage heap. He’ll just sue his competition, or try to outlaw them, and if that doesn’t work just ask everybody to ditch them:

“Twitter is a disgrace to democracy. They shouldn’t be allowed to do business in this Country. […] Everybody should drop off of Twitter and Facebook.”

That should do it. Now there will probably be hordes of Trump Deplorables signing up for TRUTH Social any minute now, just waiting to interact with people who think exactly like they do in a community that is a tiny fraction of what Twitter has. What could be more fun? Let’s hope that they find happiness there and, as Rep. Kinzinger said, “Please, don’t come back.”
