Sean Hannity Slobbers All Over ‘Super Trump’ for Contracting a Worse Case of COVID than Biden

Last week President Biden announced that he had tested positive for the coronavirus. Like many others, he was exposed to the most recent variant, Omicron BA.5, that is reported to be the most transmissible yet. Fortunately, Biden is fully vaccinated and boosted, and thus, suffered only mild symptoms and quickly recovered. He has since tested negative.

Fox News Sean Hannity

Upon learning of the illness, most Americans were sympathetic and wished him well. However, that was not how Sean Hannity reacted to the news. Instead, Hannity launched into a typically toxic tirade against the President, because that’s the only way he has of dealing with the emotions that decent humans experience. On Wednesday’s episode of his nightly hate-fest, Hannity launched into a lecture that was littered with lies and loathing. He began by saying that…

Hannity: Biden had to evoke, the uniter that he is, his favorite subject, Donald Trump. Take a look.

Biden (on video): Here’s the bottom line: When my predecessor got COVID, he had to get helicoptered to Walter Reed Medical Center. He was severely ill. Thankfully, he recovered. When I got COVID, I worked from upstairs of the White House — in the offices upstairs — and — for the — that five-day period. The difference is vaccinations, of course. [See Biden’s full address here]

Hannity: Now, what Joe failed to mention is the current variant, which is BA.5, the dominant variant of Omicron, is much, much weaker than the original strain that infected then-President Trump.

Aside from disgorging his knee-jerk contempt for Biden, this is Hannity’s way of exalting Trump as some sort of Superman who is even impervious to deadly viruses that have killed more than a million Americans. It is the worshipful perspective of a fully indoctrinated member of the Trump cult.

RELATED: Trump’s Cult of Republican Voters is Dwindling, but GOP Politicians and Press Remain Spellbound

However, Trump is hardly a superhero. In reality, he is coward who, after downplaying the severity of the pandemic for months, kept his own COVID diagnosis secret, and even attended a presidential debate when he was likely infectious.

More to the point, Hannity’s assertion that Biden was infected by a “much, much weaker,” strain of the virus than Trump, is utterly unsupported by science. Professor David Montefiori of the Human Vaccine Institute at Duke University Medical Center said that

“There’s really no clear evidence that [the BA.5 variant is] more or less likely to make people sick and cause severe illness and death.”

It has been reported that hospitalizations and deaths are lower. But that could be due to more people being vaccinated and more therapies that are widely available.

Trump’s illness was indeed more severe than Biden’s. But the reason for that was more likely because he was unvaccinated when he contracted COVID in early October of 2020. He wasn’t vaccinated until January of 2021. What’s more, he was sicker than he let on at the time. The morbidly obese Former Guy – who subsists on junk food, is rumored to be an Adderall addict, and advocated quack cures such as injecting bleach – was hospitalized for five days with dangerously low blood oxygen levels.

Hannity’s rant began with a petty dishonesty by calling Trump Biden’s “favorite subject.” In fact , Biden rarely ever mentions him. In this address Biden referred to Trump only once, obliquely calling him “my predecessor.”

As for evoking irrelevancies, Hannity brought up an old incident when Biden tripped ascending the stairs to board Air Force One. To Hannity this was a major news story. But that contrasted with his observations of Trump, about whom he said “I never saw a Donald Trump trip,” Perhaps because Hannity has Trump-fluffing blinders on. Or perhaps because Trump rarely walks. He takes a golf cart to travel short distances. And Hannity must have forgotten how Trump shuffled down a low ramp as if he was trying to walk on thin ice. [Note: Hannity lied that it was raining, but it was a sunny day].

Hannity also outright lied that Biden “forgot to mention he took the antiviral medicine.” In fact. Biden explicitly noted in this speech that “Millions of Americans have used Paxlovid …I used it … This lifesaving drug reduces risk of hospitalization and death from COVID-19 by about 90 percent.”

Hannity also lied that Biden hasn’t credited Trump with overseeing the development of the vaccines. Of course, Trump did no such thing. The companies that brought the first vaccines to market did so without the aid of Trump’s phony “Operation Warp Speed.” That said, Biden has frequently given Trump some credit for the vaccines being developed during his occupancy of the White House.

RELATED: Operation Warp Speed: Another Trump Scam That Failed It’s Core Mission

After all these years, Hannity remains Trump’s most loyal propagandist. He shamelessly flings flagrant falsehoods that glorify his wannabe messiah. And while Trump’s legal peril increases by the day, Hannity can be steadfastly relied upon to ignore reality and marvel at his emperor’s new clothes. And apparently those clothes are tights and a cape.

Rachel Maddow Unmasks the Virulent Racism of Marjorie Taylor Green and Christian Nationalism

Monday night Rachel Maddow embarked on another one of her captivating history lessons that she compellingly intertwines with current events. This lesson (video below) was about Gerald L.K. Smith, a radical right-wing Republican from the 1950’s who championed a political philosophy that he called “Christian Nationalism.” He advanced this doctrine via his “America First” Party.

Click here to Tweet this article

Rachel Maddow

Sound familiar? Smith’s brand of theocracy was rooted in the American conservativism that appealed to the Ku Klux Klan and other racist hate groups. It espoused fascism and exalted the same sort of totalitarian tyrants that Donald Trump admires so fervently.

Maddow played audio clips of Smith describing his beliefs as “the destiny of America” which he said “must be kept in the hands of our own people.” And if you’re curious about who he means by “our own people,” he cooperatively elaborated saying that “the inspiring dynamic out of which America grew is Christianity,” and that “there would be no real America…if there had been no Christianity.” Then Smith gets into the toxic core of his credo…

“Subversive forces, exploiting sentimental nitwits, are reading into the Constitution a code of conduct which threatens to mongrelize our race, destroy our racial self respect, and enslave the white man. Fight mongrelization and all attempts being made to force the intermixture of the black and white races…Preserve America as a Christian Nation, being conscious of the fact that there is a highly organized campaign to substitute Jewish tradition for Christian tradition.”

Tucker Carlson couldn’t have said it better himself.

RELATED: Tucker Carlson of Fox News Fears Democrats are ‘Importing New Voters’ to ‘Replace’ Him

Smith’s vile views were an early serving of White nationalism, dripping with Jesus sauce. Maddow noted that the Christian Nationalist rhetoric that Smith articulated in the clip she played was “kind of the mild stuff from him.” It left out…

“…the stuff about the Jews taking over the world, and how Americans need to be Christian Nationalists because only that can stop the worldwide Jewish conspiracy, not to mention all the race mixing. … [Smith] was a virulent, violent racist and anti-Semite, … Which you’d think that would make Christian Nationalism kind of a hard thing for today’s Republicans to try to raise as their new banner.”

You might think that. but then again, you might be QAnon representative, Marjorie Taylor Greene, who recently bragged that…

“Republicans really need to recognize the people they represent, okay? … We need to be the party of nationalism and I’m a Christian, and, I say it proudly: We should be Christian Nationalists.”

Maddow couldn’t help but notice that today’s Republican Party has adopted this deplorable dogma, and that Greene is among the most devoted of its modern adherents. On Tuesday Greene responded to having been featured in Maddow’s segment confessing her commitment to Christian Nationalism. She unleashed a multi-part tweet tantrum that said in part that…

“Rachel Maddow is smearing me with lies about my faith and love for America and trying to connect me to someone I’ve never heard of or know anything about. […] Hopefully, this helps some of you that are brainwashed by liars like Rachel Maddow who by the way has never met me in her entire life and gets paid to lie about me by her hard left employers at MSNBC. What a pitiful way to earn a paycheck.”

First of all, Maddow didn’t lie about Greene. She merely replayed Greene’s own words, a practice that commonly and understandably upsets Republicans. More to the point, since Greene is admitting her ignorance of the past, she should be thanking Maddow for educating her about the historical significance of the repulsive movement she is so proud to be embracing.

RELATED: WATCH: Marjorie Taylor Greene Freaks Out When Asked a Few Questions By CNN’s Jim Acosta

Unfortunately, Greene isn’t the only Republican reprising the abhorrent Christian Nationalism of the last century. In fact, it has infected the entirety of the GOP. And it is also rampant on right-wing media, particularly Fox News, where Tucker Carlson has emerged as the spokesman for the movement’s modern day incarnation. So we can expect to hear a lot more about it from these racist cretins, even as they pretend not to know what they themselves are talking about. Which has long been a feature of Republican messaging for decades.

Trump Fumes That Fox News has ‘Gone to the Dark Side’ and Purposely ‘Botched’ His Polling

One of the surest signs that someone has gone completely and irretrievably bonkers is when their psychoses manifest in paranoid outbursts directed at everyone, including their closest associates. And while Donald Trump was long ago recognized as being mentally unstable, his condition only seems to get worse with each passing day.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Mask, Fox News

Clearly the pressure is getting Trump. Prosecutors in several jurisdictions are accumulating testimony and documentation of his seditious schemes to undermine democracy and overturn a fair election. The House Select Committing investigating the January 6th insurrection that he incited has exceeded expectations in exposing the ethical and criminal misconduct of Trump and his pitifully inept crime syndicate.

RELATED: REPORT: Trump is ‘Fixated’ on the January 6th Hearings and Obsessed with How He is Coming Across

On Tuesday morning Trump took to his miserably failing social media website, TRUTH Social, to vent his spleen regarding his ever increasing legal and political peril. And in this episode he berated his longtime Ministry of Disinformation (aka Fox News) for failing to be sufficiently worshipful. Trump posted the following condemnation of his pals at Fox and Friends…

“@foxandfriends just really botched my poll numbers, no doubt on purpose. That show has been terrible – gone to the ‘dark side.’ They quickly quote the big Turning Point Poll victory of almost 60 points over the number two Republican, and then hammer with outliers. Actually, almost all polls have me leading all Republicans & Biden BY A LOT. RINO Paul Ryan, one of the weakest and worst speakers EVER, must be running the place. Anyway, thank you to Turning Point, the crowd & ‘love’ was AMAZING!”

That’s an impressive heap of hogwash, even for Trump. He can’t simply have a rational disagreement with a segment on the program that he was once featured on weekly. So he leaps straight into “dark side” damnation of his former friends. He asserts, without evidence, that they are purposefully “botching” his polling numbers.

What Trump is freaking out about is how Fox and Friends co-host Steve Doocy reported Trump’s victory in a survey of potential 2024 Republican presidential candidates conducted at the ultra-rightist Turning Point conference in Tampa, Florida. Rather than stopping there, Doocy went on to mention that there were other polls that had different results (video below):

“Keep in mind, Turning Point, a group of young Republican conservative activists from all across the country. So you have got people from all across the country convening in Tampa. I’m thinking about that is a little different than a couple of other polls that we have seen over the last couple of weeks, too. Weeks ago in Florida, Blueprint polling did a poll, [Gov. Ron] DeSantis leads the former president in all age groupings.

“Then there was a University of New Hampshire poll in June. DeSantis actually led Trump, 39 to 37. And that New York Times/Sienna College poll that we’ve cited quite a few times, less than half of Republican voters backed Donald Trump as their preferred choice.”

Well, that was all it took to set Trump off. Never mind that Doocy was uncharacteristically correct. Trump felt compelled to lie, as usual, about leading in “almost all polls” against both DeSantis and President Biden. The truth is that Trump’s standing has severely withered in recent weeks. DeSantis is strongly challenging him in the GOP primary, and Biden is beating in him general election polls.

Nevertheless, Trump may have some cause to worry. There has been a noticeable shift toward DeSantis on Fox News lately. And Fox News magnate Rupert Murdoch’s media empire has recently stepped back from Trump in significant ways. His New York Post published an editorial that concluded by saying that Trump is “unworthy to be this country’s chief executive again.” And his Wall Street Journal castigated Trump’s action and inaction during the insurrection, saying that “he fed the mob’s anger and let the riot play out.”

RELATED: Rupert Murdoch’s Right-Wing New York Post Scorches Trump as ‘Unworthy’ to Be President

Trump’s descent into madness is sure to accelerate as more proof of his malicious malfeasance comes to light, and more of the rats on his vermin infested ship seek to jump overboard to save themselves. The closer Trump comes to indictments and prosecutions, the more frantically and wildly he will lash out at anyone and everyone in his warpath. For the entertainment value alone, it will be hard to find more captivating melodrama streaming on television this fall.

Fox News Hack’s Deranged Defense of Trump’s Insurrection and Coup Plot Backfires Bigly

For more than a year and an half, Fox News has been propping up Donald Trump and his “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him. All of their Trump-fluffing hosts, contributors, and guests, have participated in the deceit that has driven the nation apart and led to the deadly insurrection on January 6th, 2021.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Fox News, Lies

Among the most pernicious of Trump’s accessories to sedition is weekend host, Mark Levin. He’s allegedly a lawyer once served as chief of staff to Edwin Meese, Ronald Reagan’s disgraced Attorney General. On the latest episode of his lie-cast, Levin lashed out at the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection. The premise of this harangue centered on his contention that there was no insurrection at all. Never mind all the video of hundreds of StormTrumpers assaulting Congress as they tried to carry out their constitutional duties to certify the election. But distorting legal arguments is nothing new for Levin.

RELATED: Fox News Legal ‘Expert’ Thinks that ‘Trial of Your Peers’ Means a Jury of All Trump Toadies

Levin’s argument rested on his twisted definition of the word “insurrection.” He clearly doesn’t know what he’s talking about or, more likely, is deliberately mangling the language to disinform his dimwitted viewers (video below). He began…

“If Donald Trump were seriously interested in an insurrection, he would have issued a video, and his video wouldn’t have said what it said. His video would have been a call to arms, right? To leading an insurrection.

He would have called everybody who could hear his voice to come to the Capitol armed, armed, to take over the Capitol building. He would have called out the United States military, whether they would respond or not, to come to the Capitol building, encircle it, arrest the Vice President, and arrest other officials, members of Congress. That’s an insurrection. He would have declared martial law. That’s an insurrection. He didn’t do any of those things. As a matter fact, He didn’t do any of the things people told him he might want to do in order to, quote/unquote, ‘hold onto the presidency.'”

First of all, Trump actually did issue a “call to arms,” when he told his cult followers that they had to “fight like hell,” or they “wouldn’t have a country anymore.” He then told his Deplorable Army – who, according to the aide to his own chief of staff, he knew were armed – to march to the Capitol, even promising that he would be marching with them. And while he didn’t order the arrest of Mike Pence, he did agree that he deserved to be hanged.

Levin also implied that the reason Trump “didn’t do any of those things” that would keep him in power was because that wasn’t his intention. To the contrary, Trump did try to orchestrate a coup, but the people he needed for it to succeed refused to go along with it. So far Levin’s argument is a total bust. But he was just getting started. He continued with a question that was surprisingly fitting, although not for any reason he might have been thinking:

“What am I talking about? He didn’t send out the military to get voting machines, as some have suggested. He didn’t send out the Department of Homeland Security to get drop boxes, as some have suggested. He didn’t fire the Attorney General or the acting Attorney General, as some have suggested. He didn’t appoint a special counsel, as some have suggested. He didn’t do any of it.”

Here is where Levin’s loopy lecture went completely off the rails. Virtually everything he said was a lie. Also, he is not describing an insurrection here. He is describing a coup. Of course, Trump is guilty of attempting both. In this case, however, Trump actually did seek to “send out the military to get voting machines.” He did try to have federal agencies “get drop boxes.” He did plan to “fire the Attorney General or the acting Attorney General,” and replace him with a corrupt crony. He did want his crackpot lawyer, Sydney Powell, to be “appoint[ed] special counsel” He did all of that.

What’s more, Levin left out entirely that Trump also pressured state election officials in Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, etc., to “find votes” for him. And he sought to replace legitimate electors with Trump supporters. And for more than three hours Trump failed to take any action to halt the insurrection that was in progress on Capitol Hill. Instead, he was watching it on Fox News and cheering them on.

RELATED: Tucker Carlson Mocks (and Lies About) the January 6th Committee Hearing that Featured Fox News

Trump’s treachery is well documented. And Levin’s tirade did nothing but affirm his anti-democratic criminality. In fact, the points raised by Levin make a strong case for indicting Trump and his crime syndicate. Even the newspapers owned by Fox News magnate, Rupert Murdoch, are saying that Trump is “unworthy” to serve as president again.

Fox News itself has yet to be so explicit in their criticism. But anchor Bret Baier did comment on how the House Committee’s work is playing out, saying that “Laying out all these 187 minutes makes him look horrific.” However, Baier is a little late. Most Americans had noticed the horror of Donald Trump a long time ago.

Fox News Hypocritically Hypes Hostile Hecklers Who Attacked Jill Biden While She Was Dining

Two and a half weeks ago the biggest story on Fox News was that Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh had been “accosted” by protesters while he was dining at Morten’s Restaurant in Washington, D.C. Never mind that Kavanaugh never saw or heard the protesters, this exercise of the Constitution’s First Amendment rights was viewed by Fox News as an intolerable invasion of Kavanaugh’s privacy.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Joe Biden, Jill Biden, Friends

Fox News characterized the entirely peaceful event as something akin to domestic terrorism. Their outrage endured for several days and was featured on every one of their primetime programs. Their White House correspondent, Peter Doocy, humiliated himself by wasting the time of the Press Secretary, and the real journalists in the briefing room, by badgering her with petty and repetition inquiries about incident.

RELATED: Fox News Hack Peter Doocy Gets Stuck in Ludicrous Loop About Protesting Supreme Court Justices

So you might think that Fox News would be furious about protesters harassing First Lady Jill Biden as she was getting ice cream at a shop in Connecticut. You would, however, be wrong. Fox reported this episode in a story saying that…

“First lady Jill Biden was heckled by unknown bystanders on Wednesday as she walked into a Connecticut ice cream shop. ‘Your husband is the worst President we ever had, you owe us gas money,’ a man shouted at Biden as she walked into the Arethusa Farms ice cream shop in New Haven.

“‘Thank you! Thank you for your support, thank you!’ Biden responded with a smile and a wave. A second heckler then shouted at Biden, ‘You suck!'”

The protesters were not only rude and offensive, they were pitifully ignorant, blaming President Biden for high gas prices that are international commodities controlled by market factors and corporations that have been enjoying record profits.

More to the point, Fox News never expressed the slightest concern that Dr. Biden was confronted while engaged in a private activity, similar to what Fox complained Kavanaugh was subjected to. However, there were some stark differences. For one, Biden was well aware of the boorish protesters. She, nevertheless, responded pleasantly and with good humor.

Another difference is that, unlike Kavanaugh, Biden is not a political decision maker, making her an inappropriate target for such abuse. Protesting a Supreme Court justice who recently made an unprecedented ruling that will lead to great harm for millions of Americans is justifiable. Screaming at the First Lady, not so much. Especially because Dr. Biden, a teacher, was in Connecticut to bring attention to the learning loss suffered by children as a result of coronavirus lockdowns.

RELATED: In Desperation, Tucker Carlson of Fox News Resorts to Viciously Maligning Jill Biden

There is a distinct irony in the fact that Fox News considered the protests of Justice Kavanaugh an invasion of his privacy, considering that the concept of “privacy” in this context was the Constitutional right that Kavanaugh and his radically conservative colleagues took a way with their irrational decision reversing Roe vs Wade. And yet, Fox couldn’t find the same privacy argument to defend Biden on her ice cream outing.

The truth is that both Biden’s and Kavanaugh’s protesters were free to engage in peaceful demonstrations. The problem is that Fox News only has a problem with it when the subject is a right-winger. It’s the same prejudice that Fox exhibits in their support for the violent January 6th insurrectionists, who they portray as law-abiding tourists. Meanwhile, Fox’s Tucker Carlson maligns Stephen Colbert’s comedy players as the “real” insurrections when they were invited to interview members of Congress. Hypocrisy is almost too mild a term for this.

RELATED: Stephen Colbert Hysterically Mocks Tucker Carlson’s ‘Comedy’ on the Arrest of His Staff in D.C.

UPDATE: Here is a video of the “protest” of Dr. Biden, where it appears that there was only one jerk protesting amid a bunch of unrelated bystanders.

WOAH! Rupert Murdoch’s Right-Wing New York Post Scorches Trump as ‘Unworthy’ to Be President

This has been a bad week for Donald Trump. It began with the Pulitzer Board rejecting his preposterous and impotent demand to rescind awards given to the Washington Post and the New York Times for their reporting on his unsavory connections to Russia. And it ended with the conviction of Steve Bannon, his former campaign boss and White House advisor, on two counts of contempt of Congress.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Fox News, Hate Again

In between, the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection that Trump incited exposed his flagrant and purposeful negligence during the Capitol Hill riots. The Committee presented testimony and damning video documenting how Trump (who is fixated on the hearings) spent 187 minutes deliberately choosing to do nothing while members of Congress were under attack and law enforcement officers were violently assaulted. Well, he wasn’t exactly doing nothing. He was gleefully watching his StormTrumpers assault the seat of American democracy on Fox News.

RELATED: Tucker Carlson Mocks (and Lies About) the January 6th Committee Hearing that Featured Fox News

On Friday another development took place that is sure to rattle the former reality TV game show host. The New York Post, which is owned by Fox News magnate, Rupert Murdoch, published an editorial titled “Trump’s silence on Jan. 6 is damning.” The article was profoundly critical of Trump and his future electoral prospects. It said in part that…

“As his followers stormed the Capitol, calling on his vice president to be hanged, President Donald Trump sat in his private dining room, watching TV, doing nothing. For three hours, seven minutes.”

And that…

Trump “was the only person who could stop what was happening. He was the only one the crowd was listening to. It was incitement by silence.”

And that…

“To his eternal shame, as appalled aides implored him to publicly call on his followers to go home, he instead further fanned the flames.”

And that…

“His only focus was to find any means — damn the consequences — to block the peaceful transfer of power.”

And finally that…

“It’s up to the Justice Department to decide if this is a crime. But as a matter of principle, as a matter of character, Trump has proven himself unworthy to be this country’s chief executive again.”

Wow! That’s pretty harsh condemnation of the man they’ve been propping up for years. To be clear, this was not merely an op-ed by a guest author with anti-Trump views. This was the official opinion written by the Post’s Editorial Board. And if Trump has lost the New York Post, can Fox News be far behind?

Of course, the Post isn’t altering their hardcore, ultra-rightist political bias. Neither would Fox News be, if/when they adopt this criticism of Trump. It would just be their attempt to cover their asinine worship of Trump for the past seven years as his multitude of crimes become more obvious, his putrid reputation becomes increasingly harder to defend, and his popularity plummets.

Fox News has already begun paving the way for a Trump replacement, even if their audience isn’t quite ready for it. They have been busy elevating Florida’s budding authoritarian governor, Ron DeSantis, as his Herr Apparent. So there seems to be a consensus, that includes Fox News, that the January 6th Committee’s work is having an impact on both the Trump-fluffing media and the public. Hopefully it’s having an impact on Attorney General Merrick Garland as well.

RELATED: The January 6th Hearings are Driving Public Opinion – And Trump’s Latest Delusional Meltdown
RELATED: Trump is Freaking Out that the January 6th Hearings are So Effectively Illuminating His Crimes

UPDATE: Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal published a similarly critical article of Trump titled “The President Who Stood Still on Jan. 6.” The Journal wrote that…

“Mr. Trump took an oath to defend the Constitution, and he had a duty as Commander in Chief to protect the Capitol from a mob attacking it in his name. He refused. He didn’t call the military to send help. He didn’t call Mr. Pence to check on the safety of his loyal VP. Instead he fed the mob’s anger and let the riot play out.”

UPDATE II: Liz Cheney drops the truth about Murdoch’s newspapers calling Trump unfit and unworthy to be president again. And she does it on Fox News:

GUILTY Steve Bannon Only Has One Disappointment? And It’s Apparently that He’s a Flaming Moron

Justice was served Friday morning when Donald Trump’s former campaign boss and White House advisor, “Sloppy” Steve Bannon was found guilty on two counts of contempt of Congress. It was a pretty open-and-shut case considering that Bannon didn’t even offer a defense for his having refused to comply with lawful subpoenas.

Click here to Tweet this article

Following the verdict, Bannon gave a statement outside of the courthouse, which has been his practice for the past few days that the trial has been in progress. And true to form, Bannon merely unleashed his incoherent rage in bursts of insults and nonsense. After disingenuously “thanking” the jury that convicted him for “whatever they did,” Bannon babbled…

“I only have one disappointment. And that is the gutless members of that show trial committee, the J6 committee, didn’t have the guts to come down here and testify in open court.”

REALLY? Who wants to tell Bannon that the members of the House Select Committee investigating the insurrection that Trump incited, had no obligation to appear before that court? They had no relevant testimony to contribute. They weren’t even asked to show up. The crime that Bannon was charged with was his failure to comply with a lawful subpoena. The evidence of that was obvious and undisputed. Bannon even bragged about it.

Bannon is actually lucky that Committee members weren’t witnesses at his trial. It would only have made things worse for him as they could have supplied more testimony and documentation of his obvious guilt. And yet, he somehow believes that their absence is his sole disappointment? Yeah, right.

Furthermore, Bannon’s hysterical post-verdict venting was a display of Olympic-grade hypocrisy. It was, after all, Bannon who “didn’t have the guts” to “testify in open court” at his own trial. Nor did he have the guts to testify before the January 6th Committee in support of his almighty messiah Trump. Why is that all of Trump’s most devoted disciples have been too scared to take the oath and tell the truth about him? Which Trump has whined about, despite being the reason for it.

RELATED: Crybaby Trump Slams the January 6th Committee For Nixing His Witnesses – Who Refused to Testify

It was Trump who pretended that he could grant executive privilege to potential witnesses so that they would not have to testify. But why would anyone want to prevent testimony from those who they allegedly believed would exonerate them? Even so, Trump eventually released Bannon from that imaginary constraint by waiving the privilege that he didn’t have to begin with. And Bannon still refused to comply with the subpoenas. The only “gutless” party in this matter is Bannon.

RELATED: LOLOL: Trump Waives Privilege He Doesn’t Have So Bannon Can Lie to the January 6th Committee

However, Bannon has good reason to be afraid. His partner in crime, Trump’s former White House trade advisor, Peter Navarro, has already confessed to allegations associated with Trump’s seditious coup conspiracy, and explicitly named Bannon as a co-conspirator. And although Trump issued him a pardon, Bannon could still be liable for tangential crimes related to his border wall scam that ripped off Trump supporters.

Bannon is now directly challenging Rudy Giuliani for the title of Dumbest Trump-Fluffing Blowhard. And if Giuliani doesn’t make any more appearances fondling himself in Borat movies, Bannon may actually take the lead.

Tucker Carlson Mocks (and Lies About) the January 6th Committee Hearing that Featured Fox News

On Thursday the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection that Donald Trump incited held its eighth session. It was the second session that was broadcast in primetime. The primary focus of this hearing was to provide details about the 187 minutes that the former reality TV game show host did nothing while Congress was under attack by his StormTrumpers.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, QAnon

To be accurate, Trump didn’t actually do nothing. He was earnestly engaged in what is perhaps his favorite pastime, watching television. Specifically, he was watching Fox News for hours and cheering on his army of violent seditionists. He certainly wasn’t performing his duties as president. And the Committee masterfully documented Trump’s blatant and lethal negligence. As Rep. Kinzinger noted

“Whatever your politics, whatever you think about the outcome of the election, we as Americans must all agree on this: Donald Trump’s conduct on January 6th was a supreme violation of his oath of office and a complete dereliction of his duty to our nation.[…] President Trump did not ‘fail’ to act during the 187 minutes between leaving the Ellipse and telling the mob to go home. He ‘chose’ not to act.”

That’s about as righteous a condemnation of Trump’s criminal misconduct as has been articulated since the hearings began. But Trump wasn’t the only subject of condemnation. Fox News was featured in much of the Committee’s presentation. Which is ironic considering that Fox News almost entirely ignored the hearings. Just as they did for the first primetime session, Fox refused to air it live. They are consumed with the fear that their dimwitted viewers might be exposed to some truthful information about their Dear Leader’s malfeasance.

RELATED: Fox News Commits to Keeping Their Viewers Ignorant By Refusing to Air the January 6th Hearings

Consequently, Fox banished the hearings to their low-rated business network, where it couldn’t do much harm to their ultra-MAGA narratives. However, there was a brief mention of the hearings by Fox’s Senior Propagandist, Tucker Carlson. Taking a break from delivering another of his deadly anti-vaccine rants, Carlson babbled that…

“If you’ve ever been in a TV control room, there’s a huge bank of monitors that shows everything that’s on TV. And one of our producers just said that on every other channel they’re playing some kind of January 6th hearing. January 6th? As if that’s the biggest thing going on in America right now.

Now why are they doing this? No one wants to watch it. You know what happened on January 6th. Some guy in Viking horns wandered around on mushrooms and made weird noises, and that was kind of it. It was an ‘insurrection,’ where none the insurrectionists had guns. But it makes the people covering it feel like they lived through Vietnam. More lifestyle liberal narcissism. That’s really the key to everything.”

Not surprisingly, Carlson’s critique was littered with lies. First of all, he’s pretending that his producer had to inform him that the January 6th hearing was in progress. He obviously knew that and was prepared with his pre-packaged and cartoonish put-downs. Secondly, Carlson also knows that the hearings are a major news story because prior broadcasts have garnered huge ratings and their impact has registered in polling.

RELATED: The January 6th Hearings are Driving Public Opinion – And Trump’s Latest Delusional Meltdown

So Carlson’s assertion that “No one wants to watch it,” is pure bullpucky. As is his belittling of the rioters as harmless characters who “wandered around on mushrooms and made weird noises.” Carlson left out that they broke windows, battered down doors, terrorized members of Congress and their staff, and injured more than 140 law enforcement officers, including five who died.

Carlson also lied about the insurrectionists not having guns. Numerous reports document that the rioters were armed at the Capitol and had more weapons stashed nearby. Trump even admitted that he was aware that they were armed and didn’t care because “they aren’t here to hurt me.”

Sean Hannity also briefly covered the hearing, just long enough to call it “a one-sided political smear,” and to blame Democrats for the riots. But if the hearings are one-sided, it’s because almost all of the witnesses giving their accounts under oath are Republicans who worked for Trump. What’s more, Hannity had no evidence to support his contention that Democrats were to blame for the riots that were populated solely by Trump supporters.

It’s too bad that Fox News declined to let their audience see any of the hearings. Because they were referenced several times. Most notably when Committee Vice-Chair Liz Cheney said that…

“We know from employees this TV was tuned to Fox News all afternoon. Here you can see Fox News on the TV showing coverage of the joint session that was airing that day at 1:25. Other witnesses confirm that president Trump was in the dining room with the TV on for more than two and a half hours.”

So although Trump could watch Fox News while the insurrection was in progress, Fox’s viewers couldn’t be told that fact. Not that they would have watched if it were shown. While the ratings for MSNBC, CNN, and the broadcast networks all spiked sharply during the hearings, When Fox aired them during the day they actually lost viewers. Their audience simply can’t handle the truth. It’s a condition that Fox has nurtured in them over many years of cult indoctrination.

Kellyanne Conway Whines on Fox News that Biden Issued an Executive Action on Climate Change

The “hottest” story making the rounds in the media this week has been the record-breaking heatwave plaguing the world. The unprecedented temperatures are shutting down energy grids, melting infrastructure, and causing untold suffering and death. This extreme weather is directly attributable to Climate Change and requires immediate action on the part of world’s governments to stem further tragedies.

Kellyanne Conway, Fox News

Meanwhile, Fox News continues to pretend that Climate Change doesn’t exist or isn’t a problem that requires attention. Instead, they are exploiting the crisis to shovel political dirt unto President Biden because he is actually taking steps to address the problem. On Wednesday Biden issued an executive action wherein he reiterated “that climate change is a clear and present danger to the United States [and that] Since Congress is not acting on this emergency, President Biden will.”

That was all the impetus that Fox News needed to trigger their climate denialism and flurry of partisan political assaults. They invited Donald Trump’s former senior counselor and “Alternative Facts” disseminator, Kellyanne Conway, to deflect from the harsh reality that is afflicting millions of Americans. And she obediently set about on her nefarious mission. Rather than addressing the problem at hand, Conway launched an attack on Biden, saying that…

“If the president actually takes executive action, as he is threatening to do, it means he has subverted the process of our elected representatives who were put there by the people and instead, an unpopular president is basically acting alone. And it comes with tons of money that he can repurpose for these climate reasons that the vast, vast majority of Americans, all but a handful of Americans, do not think should be a top priority.”

There’s a lot of lying to unpack in that brief outburst. Let’s start with the fact that Biden is not “subvert[ing] the process” by exercising his authority to take executive action. It’s what he was elected to do. It would be far more accurate to criticize Republicans in Congress for obstructing the will of the majority of the people’s representatives.

For the record, Trump issued 894 executive actions during his one-term occupancy of the White House. 220 of those were executive orders. And 26 of those were issued after he lost the 2020 election. Among Trump’s first executive orders was to weaken Obamacare, shorten the environmental review process, and make an emergency declaration in order to fund his useless, vanity border wall. And all of his executive actions were made as “an unpopular president [who] is basically acting alone.”

With respect to Climate Change, Trump’s grasp was, and is, frighteningly ignorant. He regarded it as “hoax” created by China, and early in his term he removed the U.S. from the Paris Climate Accords.

Conway was also flagrantly distorting the truth about the people’s support for taking action on Climate Change. Every poll shows that majorities of the American people want the government to do more to mitigate the harm being done to the environment. An extensive survey by the Pew Research Center found that…

“At a time when partisanship colors most views of policy, broad majorities of the public – including more than half of Republicans and overwhelming shares of Democrats – say they would favor a range of initiatives to reduce the impacts of climate change. […] 60% view climate change as a major threat to the well-being of the United States.”

And that…

“Most Americans also support tougher restrictions on power plant emissions (80%), taxing corporations based on the amount of carbon emissions they produce (73%) and tougher fuel-efficiency standards for automobiles and trucks (71%). […] half or more of Republicans say they would favor each of these policies.”

So once again the High Priestess of Alternative Facts is spreading bull manure that is both false and dangerous. And Fox News is the preferred platform for this propaganda. And while Conway is appalled that Biden is behaving responsibly and in accordance with the will of the people, don’t expect to see her express any objection to Trump’s blatant abuse of power that was contrary to the nation’s wishes.

That’s the Republican way. They routinely endeavor to force their unpopular agenda down the throats of the people they are hardly even pretending to represent. Just like gun reform and reproductive choice and voting rights, the GOP is the anti-democratic, pro-totalitarian party. Hopefully the people will elect better representatives this November.

Pete Buttigieg Delivers Deft Smackdown of a Pinhead Republican’s Lunatic Anti-Biden Harangue

Among the most damaging deviations of Donald Trump’s infestation of the White House has been the spread of his deranged brand of ignorance and asininity. He has infected the majority of the Republican Party with a compulsion to exude hostility and lies aimed scattershot at Democrats, and even insufficiently worshipful Republicans.

Donald Trump, Republican, GOP

On Tuesday an example of this diseased behavior was on display in Congress as GOP representative Troy Nehls (TX-Wanker) unleashed a cascade of crackpottery during his inquisition of Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg. The Secretary was testifying before the House Infrastructure Committee.

Rather than address any relevant or rational issue, Nehls babbled bombastically about President Biden’s mental state in a flurry of wild allegations that never approached any semblance of reality. The result was a bizarre exchange wherein he solidified his aspiration to succeed Louis Gohmert as the GOP’s dumbest member of Congress. Aiming his invective at Biden, Nehls yammered…

Nehls: He shakes hands with ghosts and imaginary people. He falls off bicycles. Even at the White House Easter celebration, the Easter Bunny had to guide him back into his safe place. Cue cards that say ‘end of speech,” which he actually states, that is, if he stays awake. So my question for you is, have you spoken with any other cabinet member about implementing the 25th Amendment on President Biden?
Buttigieg: First of all, I’m glad to have a President who can ride a bicycle. And I will look beyond the insulting nature of that question and make clear …
Nehls (interrupting): Have you spoken to any cabinet members about implementing the 25th Amendment on President Biden?
Buttigieg: Of course not.
Nehls: Have you emailed any member of the executive branch about the President’s health…
Buttigieg: The President of the United States is as vigorous a colleague or boss as I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
Chairman DeFazio: The gentleman’s time has expire.
Nehls: Could you yield me one minute sir?
Chairman DeFazio: Absolutely not. If you had yielded the Secretary some time to actually answer the ridiculous question, you might have actually gotten something.

Buttigieg’s reply to Nehls was a clever, albeit overly gracious, way of reminding everyone of Trump’s mental and physical disabilities. However, literally every item on Nehls churlish checklist was, as someone once said, fake news. They were all drawn from the phony attacks by Fox News shills and MAGA-nauts that have been circulating among the cult crowd for months. Just as an example, the charge that Biden read stage directions from the TelePrompTer was not only false, it was rife with hypocrisy…

Nehls’ inquiry as to whether Buttigieg had ever considered invoking the 25th Amendment is particularly offensive. He knows that no such consideration was ever made or warranted. Biden has managed his presidential duties with intelligence, competence, and compassion. He never once suggested that people should inject themselves with bleach, or that hurricanes should be nuked, or that stealth fighters are actually invisible, or that windmills cause cancer. And, oh yeah, he never tried to overthrow the government.

During the same hearing, Buttigieg also shot down GOP insurrectionist Scott Perry, who has defied a subpoena, and who asked Trump for a pardon after pushing crackpot conspiracy theories about the election. Buttigieg corrected Perry’s deliberate lies about the cost of electric vehicles. Perry cherry-picked a $55,000 example. Buttigieg set him straight. And as shown in this article, many EVs are less than $35,000.
