Energy Secretary on Fox News Won’t Deny that Trump’s Cuts are Purposefully Punishing Blue States

The flagrant hostilities expressed by Donald Trump toward his fellow Americans in the Democratic Party are symptoms of a wholly unprecedented psychosis in an American president. He isn’t merely opposing them politically. He has a visceral hatred for them and regards them as enemies of the state. And “them” I mean all Americans who don’t worship Dear Leader Trump.

Donald Trump

This week Trump posted a meme on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, in which he called Democrats The Party of Hate, Evil, and Satan.” Which is particularly repulsive following the shooting of conservative activist, Charlie Kirk, when Trump and others in politics are lecturing on the importance of unifying the country and avoiding the sort of hateful rhetoric that could incite violence. Clearly he doesn’t mean that for himself and his MAGA cronies.

SEE THIS: Trump HATES You and Half of America, As He Told MAGA-tists at the Charlie Kirk Memorial Hatefest

Trump is totally ignoring the calls for civility, even from his own party. To the contrary, he is escalating the animus. And not just to deliver insults to his political foes. He is directing his regime to deliberately abuse the power of his office in order to harm Democrats.

For example, his Energy Secretary, Chris Wright, was dispatched to Fox News on Friday where he was asked a direct question about Trump’s obvious efforts to hurt Democrats. And, surprisingly, Wright was briefly challenged by Fox’s Stuart Varney…

Varney: You canceled, I believe, almost $8 billion of energy projects across the country. Most of these projects are in blue states. The Democrats are saying they’re being punished for their politics. So Mr. Secretary, are you punishing the blue states?
Wright: We are punishing the wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars. Do you and your viewers want to pay $70 million to decarbonize mac and cheese? Do you want to pay to decarbonize Uber Eats in San Francisco, or subsidize E-bike lanes lanes in Portlandia? People don’t want to pay taxpayer money on that.
Varney: You got me with the mac and cheese Mr. Secretary. Great performance on the show today.

VARNEY: You canceled almost $8b of energy projects, most of them in blue states. Are you punishing the blue states?CHRIS WRIGHT: We are punishing the wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars … do you want to subsidize E-bike lanes lanes in Portlandia?(That's not a no!)

Aaron Rupar (@atrupar.com) 2025-10-03T13:27:54.678Z

Notice that Wright completely dodged the question about whether Trump was “punishing the blue states.” He refused to acknowledge the obvious fact that the only cuts Trump was making was to states that didn’t vote for him. That deliberate – and potentially illegal – partisanship was previously confirmed by Trump’s director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Russell Vought, one of the principal authors of the authoritarian handbook, “Project 2025,” that Trump has embraced.

Russ Vought is a principal author of the authoritarian handbook, "Project 2025," that Trump said he didn't read, but then made Vought his OMB Director. Now Vought says that he's cancelling billions in funds to mitigate the climate crisis, but all in blue states. That's extortion and illegal.

News Corpse (@newscorpse.bsky.social) 2025-10-02T09:51:25.922Z

On a more substantive note, every initiative that Wright mentioned would actually save taxpayers money. Decarbonizing – or reducing carbon emissions – improves energy efficiency, lowers utility bills, and mitigates the harmful effects of climate change. That includes the cost of healthcare for those adversely impacted.

Likewise, promoting bicycling reduces pollution, traffic congestion, and reliance on public transportation. All of which saves the expenses related to street maintenance and repair, and operating buses and trains.

Wright was praised by Varney for his “performance” during the interview, Which was an appropriating choice of words. Because everything done by the Trump regime is designed as if it were the sort of a pseudo reality TV program with which Trump is so familiar.

However, Trump et al can’t escape the real reality that Trump is abusing his power to hurt his perceived politically enemies. He actually admitted it himself recently in a post on Truth Social saying that he is working with Vought “to determine which of the many Democrat Agencies, most of which are a political SCAM, he recommends to be cut.”

With that Trump reveals that he is not a president for all the people, but just his MAGA cult. Therefore, he has no business occupying the White House. And the sooner he is removed the better off all Americans will be.

Trump Declares that ‘The Days of Stupidity Are Over’ in a Stupid Anti Wind and Solar Energy Rant

What could be more hysterical than Donald Trump whining about the stupidity of anyone else? And yet, it is something that he does with increasing frequency and ferocity. Psychologists might diagnosis it as a latent inferiority complex with an obsessive compulsion to compensate for his deficiencies. But that’s only a partial explanation.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump Climate Change

Trump also harbors deep sentiments of resentment and envy. Particularly with regard to anyone who dares to criticize him, or is otherwise insufficiently worshipful. Those sentiments emerge often with crazed outbursts aimed at Black women, who he routinely maligns as “low IQ,” including Jasmine Crockett, Kamala, Harris, Maxine Waters, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, and more.

SEE THIS: Jasmine Crockett Tells the Truth About Trump, So He is Attacking Her and Other Women of Color

However, it is Trump’s IQ that is the most obviously deficient. Never mind his tedious repetition of having passed a cognitive test that doesn’t even measure IQ. He is a bottomless pit of ignorance and malaprops that would have institutionalized anyone without great wealth and/or power.

So it is laughable that Trump just declared that “The days of stupidity are over in the USA!!!” How would he know? His declaration was in reference to his determination to get rid of alternative energy sources in favor of what he ridiculously calls “clean, beautiful, coal,” and his passion to “drill baby drill” for unlimited barrels of oil. He prefers an energy plan that sickens those who work in the industry, and poisons the planet for everyone else. Trump raged on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that…

“Any State that has built and relied on WINDMILLS and SOLAR for power are seeing RECORD BREAKING INCREASES IN ELECTRICITY AND ENERGY COSTS. THE SCAM OF THE CENTURY! We will not approve wind or farmer destroying Solar. The days of stupidity are over in the USA!!! MAGA”

Virtually every word of that harangue is a lie – and pretty darn stupid. To begin with, Trump might be surprised to learn that his hostility toward many of the states that have invested in clean energy are predominantly Republican. In fact, the state with the most generation of wind and solar energy is Texas.

“As the national leader in wind power generation, Texas produced 124,936 GWh of wind energy. Texas also ranks second in solar power, just behind California, at 44,506 GWh produced in 2024. By the end of 2024, the Lone Star State produced 166,660 GWh of renewable energy, or about 16% of our national clean energy supply. That’s enough green energy to power over 15 million U.S. households for a year! […] [T]heir competitive market is driving clean energy investments that benefit millions of Texas homes and businesses.”

The top ten clean energy producing states also include Iowa, Oklahoma, and Florida. Which raises the question of what the Republican governors of those states think of Trump’s anti-stupidity initiative.

What’s more, Trump’s assertion that states with significant wind and solar production “are seeing RECORD BREAKING INCREASES IN ELECTRICITY AND ENERGY COSTS,” is likewise false – and stupid. The truth, according to the U.S. Department of Energy is that…

“Energy innovations can significantly help reduce American’s energy bills. In fact, in many parts of the country, renewable energy innovations like solar and wind energy are the cheapest forms of new electricity generation.”

This nonsense is nothing new for Trump. He has been making these preposterous allegations for years. And as part of his derangement, he asserts that wind turbines kills birds, drives whales crazy, and cause cancer. And he wants to prohibit farmers from deciding how their land is used. If they want to earn extra income by utilizing available land for solar panels or wind turbines, tough luck. In another recent outburst, trump complained that

“We’re putting up wind, wind. It doesn’t work. […] [W]ith all of the windmills that China sends us where we waste our money because it’s the most expensive energy – you know they make about 95% of them, wind turbines – I have never seen a wind farm in China. Why is that?

Once again, that is easily verified as entirely untrue. In fact…

“China’s wind farms produced over 100 terawatt hours (TWh) of electricity in March, the highest monthly total ever by a single country and as much as all of Europe and North America combined, data from energy think tank Ember shows.”

The dishonesty – and stupidity – of Donald Trump is flying off the charts. His lies number in the tens of thousands. It would be far easier to count the number of times that he has told the truth on your hands and feet. And you probably wouldn’t even need to take off your shoes.

Pathological Liar! Trump’s 3 Biggest Lies He Told on July 4th – Or Maybe Just the Dumbest

It may not be regarded as news anymore when Donald Trump is caught uttering blatant falsehoods without an iota of shame. He has done it tens of thousands of times since his emergence as a public figure. And sadly, the media has become inured to Trump’s deliberate dishonesty and often neglects to give it the attention it deserves.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Trump Lies

Trump’s deceptions are still frequent and more dangerous than ever. They distort everything from national security, to the economy, to law and justice, to health matters, and so much more. And despite the transparency of his untruths, his worshipful cult disciples embrace whatever Dear Leader tells them as if it were gospel. Never mind how maniacally insane and hostile his outbursts have become.

SEE THIS: Trump Goes Bonkers Ranting that Democrats Are ‘Evil, Nasty People Who Hate Our Country’

Not surprisingly, Trump spent the July 4th holiday disgorging his daily quota of lies. Most of them were tangentially related to his signing of the “Big Ugly Bill” (BUB) that will terminate the health insurance of millions of Americans, deprive low income families of food, and finance more fascist apprehensions of migrants. All while cutting taxes for corporations and the wealthy, and exploding the national debt.

Melded into this monstrosity of malice were some of Trump’s most flagrant lies. What follows are three of the most notable. This is not intended to be a comprehensive list. That would be both prohibitively time consuming given the quantity of his lies, and redundant given his penchant for repeating the same lies incessantly. But it is a representative sample of Trump’s psychotic dysfunction.

Let’s begin with Trump’s assertion that the BUB is “the most popular bill ever signed in history.” Not only is that a lie, but the truth is the the complete opposite. It may be the least popular bill ever signed. Every poll shows that American people are steadfastly opposed to it. Even the Fox News poll has it 21 points underwater.

Not only is the #BigUglyBill not "the most popular bill ever signed in history"…

News Corpse (@newscorpse.bsky.social) 2025-07-05T10:26:59.919Z

Next we have Trump’s claim that his BUB delivers “no tax on Social Security.” Nope. That is not in the bill. While it does have an increased standard deduction that could reduce the tax owed by some recipients, there is no language that exempts Social Security from taxation. Furthermore, the bill ignores the single most impactful reform for Social Security, which would be raising or eliminating the cap on the income subject to FICA withholding. Also, the provisions related to taxes on tips and overtime are temporary, while the tax cuts for the rich are permanent.

Trump blatantly lies that his #BigUglyBill delivers "no tax on social security." That is not in the bill. What's more, the cuts for taxes on tips and overtime are limited and expire in two years. The cuts for corporations and the wealthy are broad and permanent.

News Corpse (@newscorpse.bsky.social) 2025-07-05T10:23:19.415Z

Finally, Trump unleashed a typically incoherent rant about energy wherein he gushed about what he called “clean, beautiful coal,” while raging over wind, saying that…

“We’re putting up wind, wind. It doesn’t work. I will tell you, aside from ruining our fields and our valleys, killing all the birds, being very weak and very expensive, all made in China. You know, I noticed something, with all of the windmills that China sends us where we waste our money because it’s the most expensive energy – you know they make about 95% of them, wind turbines – I have never seen a wind farm in China. Why is that? Somebody check that out, Tom Emmer will you please check that out.”

So which is it: Is Trump lying, stupid, or both?"China widens wind power lead with new generation record: China's wind farms produced over 100 terawatt hours (TWh) of electricity in March, the highest monthly total ever by a single country."reuters.com/world/china/…

News Corpse (@newscorpse.bsky.social) 2025-07-05T17:07:19.346Z

For the record, this is what Trump says that he has never seen, as reported by Reuters, China widens wind power lead with new generation record“…

China’s wind farms produced over 100 terawatt hours (TWh) of electricity in March, the highest monthly total ever by a single country and as much as all of Europe and North America combined, data from energy think tank Ember shows.

“The production total was 25% more than during the same month in 2023, and helps extend China’s dominant position as by far the world’s largest renewable energy producer [and is] part of Beijing’s ambitious plan to reach carbon neutrality by 2060.”

So while China is taking the lead in the future of clean energy production and technologies, Trump is ensuring that the U.S. races full speed backwards to the early 1900s when fossil fuels sickened millions of workers and poisoned the environment for everybody else.

These are just a handful of Trump’s horrific distortions of reality. In the same speech he dropped a grossly anti-Semitic slur referring to bankers as “shylock.” He declared that he hates all Democrats, who comprise more than half of the country’s population and about half of their representatives in Congress. And he celebrated the passage of the BUB by accepting a gift of the gavel used by GOP House Speaker, MAGA Mike Johnson, at the close of the vote. Which could not have been a more appropriate symbol of how Congress has subjugated itself to their master and messiah, Trump…

The symbolism of this is just too much.GOP Speaker MAGA Mike Johnson hands over control of the House of Representatives to the aspiring authoritarian Donald Trump as he signs the so-called "Big Beautiful Bill" that the American people oppose.

Trump’s Defense Secretary Rages that ‘The Department of Defense Does Not Do Climate Change Crap’

When Donald Trump recruited Pete Hegseth from Fox News to lead his Department of Defense, it was unarguably among the worst nominations in the history of the country. Hegseth had zero experience in military management, or in leading an enterprise on the scale of the Pentagon. He was just a weekend talking head on a propaganda network. So what could go wrong?

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump Climate Change

Since his confirmation, Hegseth has proven to be just as incompetent and corrupt as his lack of experience and judgment predicted. In his brief tenure to date he has fully embraced the agenda of Trump and co-president Elon Musk to decimate the Defense Department. And to make sure that nobody gets any reliable information about that, he has banished credible news outlets from the Pentagon and replaced them MAGA media hacks.

SEE THIS: Trump Kicks Reporters Out of Pentagon Offices, Replaces Them with MAGA Media Mouthpieces

Determined to diminish the military readiness of the United States, Trump and Hegseth continue to implement policies that will surely delight Trump’s idol and mentor, Vladimir Putin. Among them is an official rejection of the risks posed by climate change. In response to a news story on the subject, Hegseth posted a tweet that said only that, “The @DeptofDefense does not do climate change crap.”

The CNN article that Hegseth was so cavalierly dismissing was an in-depth analysis of how the climate crisis would impact America’s military engagements around the world. It said in part that…

“As the Pentagon and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency [DOGE] set their sights on climate-related programs at the Defense Department, officials and experts are warning that slashing them could put US troops and military operations at risk, both in the near and long term.”

Despite the well-reasoned insights by experts in military matters and meteorology, Hegseth felt comfortable posting his pithy little reply that wasn’t merely a blind disagreement with the science, but a childish insult characterizing the nearly universal consensus on climate as “crap.” His bullheaded ignorance is very likely going to result in catastrophes for American soldiers, as well as America’s military strength worldwide.

For the record, Hegseth’s views – and Trump’s – are contrary to those of prior secretaries of defense. And that includes one of Trump’s own from his first term, James Mattis, who warned that

“Climate change is real, and a threat to American interests abroad and the Pentagon’s assets everywhere. [And that] this is a real-time issue, not some distant what-if. Climate change is impacting stability in areas of the world where our troops are operating today.”

MORE HERE: Trump’s Defense Secretary Says Climate Change Is a Real Threat to American Interests

Mattis wasn’t the first Defense Secretary to issue such a warning. Fourteen years prior, under George W. Bush’s defense secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, the Pentagon published a report titled ‘An Abrupt Climate Change Scenario and Its Implications for United States National Security.’ that warned that “threats to global stability posed by rapid warming vastly eclipse that of terrorism.”

These views were shared by at least seven of the past Secretaries of Defense (Mattis, Ash Carter, Chuck Hagel, Leon Panetta, Robert Gates, Rumsfeld, and another Trump appointee, Mark Esper), who all subscribed to the policy that climate change is one of America’s top strategic risks. And five of the seven are Republicans.

The military has been crystal clear for decades about the very real consequences of a world where water and arable land become scarce, and nations erupt into chaos and war. Migration, border disputes, and even the habitability of the bases the U.S. has around the world are all risk factors that the military have long recognized as critical to our national security.

While this dangerous rejection of reality is reprehensible, it isn’t surprising. After all, Trump has long been a climate change denier. And a pretty asinine one at that. He still believes that climate change is a hoax perpetrated by China.

FOX NEWS HOST: ‘It Makes Me CRAZY that the Left is Mad at Musk’ – For Bankrolling Herr Trump?

For nearly a decade, Fox News has assumed the role of the Ministry of Propaganda for Donald Trump. Their program hosts and guests have been uniformly worshipful of the convicted felon, adjudicated rapist, and aspiring authoritarian, who has become the internationally recognized brand of cable’s premiere disinformation network.

Fox News Sad

Fox’s devotion to Dear Leader Trump drives their editorial ideology. So much so that they continue to fawn over and lie about Trump despite having had to pay a $787 million settlement for defamation as a result of their brazenly dishonest parroting of Trump’s 2020 election denials and outright lies. Which they continue to do to this day.

SEE THIS: Fox News is Still Pushing the Lie that the 2020 Election Was Stolen that Cost Them $787 Million

On Thursday morning Fox Business host Gerri Willis was a guest on Fox’s “Outnumbered.” The discussion covered some of the controversy over the seizure of the American government by tech billionaires, including Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk. With regard to the latter, Willis was inexplicably confounded as to why Democrats would have any problem with Musk’s utterly inappropriate role as an unelected, virtual shadow president…

“The whole idea that the left is mad at Elon Musk makes me crazy because he’s the one who developed their favorite product in the world: the electric car. So how can you be mad at him?”

REALLY? Willis has to be one of the dimmest bulbs in the Fox News marquee. First of all, Musk didn’t develop the electric car. He bought Tesla from the more intelligent and creative people who did develop it. Secondly, Tesla is not the “favorite product” of progressives. In fact, they have led the exodus of buyers who stopped patronizing Musk’s auto business.

More to the point, Willis is pitifully dense if she can’t grasp why Democrats would oppose Musk after he completely betrayed the environmental movement by buying the presidency for Trump, a climate change denier who thinks that it is a hoax perpetrated by China. And climate change is only the tip of the iceberg of Trump policies that Musk endorses that are anathema to progressives.

Coincidently – or perhaps not – President Biden addressed the same subject in his Oval Office farewell address to the nation Wednesday night. He issued a passionate wake up call to Americans, alerting them to the danger of the emerging Trump oligarchy…

“Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power, and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms, and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead. We’ve seen the consequences all across America and we’ve seen it before.

“More than a century ago, the Americans stood up to the robber barons back then and busted the trusts. They didn’t punish the wealthy, just made the wealthy play by the rules everybody else had to. Workers want rights to earn their fair share. You know, they were dealt into the deal and helped put us on the path to building the largest middle class, the most prosperous century any nation in the world has ever seen.”

President Biden delivers a prescient warning that "an oligarchy is taking shape in America."

News Corpse (@newscorpse.bsky.social) 2025-01-16T10:59:34.484Z

What actually makes Willis and and others at Fox News “crazy” is that the American people can see through their bullpucky. And we aren’t going to lay back and allow the new robber barons to enslave us. Even if they did once pretend to be interested in preserving the planet, but only because of their lust for more wealth.

Tucker Carlson of Fox News Unleashes Flagrantly Racist Attack on Black EPA Administrator

The Senior White Nationalist at Fox News is fulfilling the mission that he was hired for at the ultra-rightist propaganda network. Tucker Carlson has distinguished himself as the Fox News host most beloved by America’s hate groups and Klan members, and he isn’t the least bit shy about embracing that role.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Klan Hat

On Wednesday night’s episode of his White Power Hour, Carlson delivered another of his noxious screeds attacking people of color who had the audacity to excel professionally. You know, the uppity ones. This time his wrath was directed at Michael Regan, the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. In Carlson’s perverse mindset Regan couldn’t possibly have the qualifications or intelligence to do the job. He thought the same thing about other recent Black appointees by President Biden.

SEE: Tucker Carlson Rages for 12 Minutes Against Biden Nominating a Black Woman to the Supreme Court
AND: Tucker Carlson of Fox News Attacks Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre in a Brazenly Racist Rant

Carlson began by complaining that the just passed Inflation Reduction Act (which received zero votes from Republicans) was a farce. Despite it being heavily favored by majorities of the American people, Carlson overtly lied about it in order foment fear among his dimwitted viewers (video below). He raged that…

“The EPA alone gets more than $40 billion in this bill, including more than $30 billion for so-called disadvantaged communities. What are those? Well, they’re not really defined — people who voted for Joe Biden. So, what it really means is the EPA is going to spread more identity politics and race hate. Are you sick of that yet? The Biden White House is not sick of it. They’re all in.” […]

Carlson has a predictably knee-jerk animosity toward what he disparagingly calls “so-called disadvantaged communities.” Because anything that provides help for the disadvantaged is automatically evil in his beady eyes. What’s more, he assumes that “disadvantaged” means Black, and therefore it’s a race issue. Never mind that most low income Americans are White. Then Carlson goes on to say…

“So, who gets to define what disadvantaged is, a disadvantaged community? Well, that would be the EPA’s administrator, a guy called Michael Regan, This is a guy who’s in his late forties who has never had an actual job in his life, never worked for real business of any kind.” […]

For the record, after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in earth and environmental science, and a masters in Public Administration, Regan worked for the EPA for ten years. That was followed by eight years at the Environmental Defense Fund. Then he was the secretary of the Department of Environmental Quality for the state of North Carolina for four years. That’s more than two decades of experience in the field prior to being named to head the EPA. Apparently that’s not enough for Carlson. At least if you’re Black.

In an effort to malign Regan, Carlson quoted remarks he made on The Daily Show where he promised that…

“Everything I do at EPA is through the lens of environmental justice, contracting, procurement, air quality, water quality, land management, starts with ‘Are we protecting the least among us, those who have lacked political representation and those who have not been at the table for decades’?”

In Carlson’s view that suggests that “this is about spreading race hate as virtually everything they do is.” Which is pure projection as the truth is that everything Carlson does is about spreading race hate. It is a fact, though, that the most harm from adverse environmental policies falls on the poor, who are, once again, mostly White.

However, the question of race shouldn’t enter into this discussion. Relieving the harm caused by the anti-environment right-wing is a goal that aims to benefit all Americans regardless of race or any other deliberately divisive factor. But Carlson and Fox News insist on making it a racial argument because that is what excites their audience. Which is not surprising considering what Carlson recently admitted with regard to race and politics…

Republicans Get Pissy When Buttigieg Praises Biden Bill that Makes EVs More Affordable

The Republican Party seems to be committed to establishing itself as an anti-American confederacy that is focused only on acquiring and maintaining money and power. They demonstrate on a daily basis that their only loyalty is to the twice-impeached, former reality TV game show host, and aspiring authoritarian dictator, Donald Trump.

Click here to Tweet this article

Joe Biden, GOP, Titanic

The GOP (Greedy One Percent) appears to have little interest in advancing any affirmative policies. They have no principles, no ideas, and no purpose other than to obstruct Democrats from implementing the overwhelmingly popular programs addressing reproductive choice, gun safety, climate change, voting rights, tax fairness, healthcare, and more. The record of the past two years validates the success of the Democrats’ efforts. The GOP, by contrast, are dismissing this at their own political peril.

RELATED: Rep Eric Swalwell Says ‘This is Gonna Be a Wave Election Alright…A BLUE One!’

Nevertheless, Republicans remain staunchly devoted to their current perverse agenda of preventing any positive progress on behalf of the American people. They illustrated this again after Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, appeared on MSNBC to tout the benefits of the “Inflation Reduction Act” offered by President Biden and the Democrats. Buttigieg made several points about the bill’s provisions, which predictably sent the Republican National Committee (RNC) into a tizzy on Twitter:

RNC: Biden Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg defends the green energy handouts — a $7,500 giveaway to wealthy Americans for electric vehicles, which have an average cost of $67K — in the Bidenflation Scam.
Buttigieg: I’m excited about the electric vehicle provisions because what this will do is reduce the price, through tax credits, of an electric vehicle. And if you see that lower sticker price and can afford an EV, you’re also gonna be saving money every day that you own it.

It’s curious that the RNC is so outraged by a $7,500 tax credit that will enable Americans to purchase a clean energy car and save money on fuel, but they aren’t the least bit bothered by billions of dollars going to oil companies who will use it to further pollute the planet.

The RNC also dishonestly tries to mislead by citing the average cost of an electric vehicle. Nobody buys a car based on what the average price is of all makes and models. The presence of BMWs and Mercedes and Audis would make the averages for all sedans also look unattainably high. The truth is that many EVs are available for less than $35,000. And the RNC knows that. However, they went on to disinform with a bit of sarcasm, saying…

RNC: Biden Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg: Electric vehicles are the “best” solution for Americans facing sky-high gas prices
Buttigieg: The best thing we can do for the medium and long term is make sure Americans have more options through greater fuel efficiency, and greater access to vehicles that don’t require gasoline at all. So that Americans don’t have to worry about what’s happening in some Middle Eastern capitol or foreign war zone.

Of course, Buttigieg is right. There is no better option, for the environment as well as people’s pocketbooks, than moving toward a cleaner future in transportation. But the RNC just lamely mocks that notion without putting forward any other proposal that they think would be better.

This is typical of today’s Trumpified Republican Party. The only things they offer are hurdles to block progress and hostility toward those who actually want to make life better for the American people. And their lame attempts to distort reality are easily rebutted, as Buttigieg has proven before…

Fox News Blatantly Lies that Biden ‘Praised’ High Gas Prices When He Actually Criticized Them

It’s another day that ends in “Y” so Fox News is creating another in their perennial series of flagrant falsehoods aimed at maligning Democrats. It’s an awesome burden that they bear to keep coming up with new lies. And President Biden isn’t helping by failing to provide them with actual catastrophes that they can plausibly blame him for.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Joe Biden, Fake News

On Tuesday morning the official “Message of the Day” as chosen by Fox’s editorial board was that Biden confessed to intentionally raising gas prices and “praised” the increases. That was the wholly contrived narrative introduced by Maria Bartiromo for her segment on the subject following a video clip of Biden commenting on energy matters. An exasperated Bartiromo exclaimed “Look, he just admitted it in that sound bite that this is all intentional. It’s a plan.”

RELATED: Fox News Lies that Poll Shows a ‘Majority’ of Americans Blame Biden for Inflation – It Doesn’t!

Of course Biden never “admitted” anything of the sort. Not even close. But that didn’t stop Fox News from disseminating this deceitful drivel across their media platforms. On the Fox News website they posted a story headlined “President Biden seems to praise high gas prices as ‘incredible transition’ Americans must go through.” For the record, what Biden actually said was…

“When it comes to the gas prices, we’re going through an incredible transition that is taking place that, God willing, when it’s over, we’ll be stronger and the world will be stronger and less reliant on fossil fuels when this is over.”

Nowhere in that commentary did Biden suggest that high gas prices were intentional. Nor did he praise or celebrate them. To the contrary, when someone includes the phrase “God willing” in this context, it indicates an explicit desire for relief from hardship. And Biden’s optimism that “the world will be stronger … when this is over” affirms his acknowledgement of the troubles that people are presently enduring, with a hopeful eye toward the future.

To put an even finer point on how wrong the Fox News analysis of this was, Biden later spoke about “what I’ve been able to do to keep it from getting even worse — and it’s bad.” So apparently Fox News regards words like “worse” and “bad” as synonymous with “praise.”

Fox News never bothers to explain why Biden would want to deliberately increase gas prices. Do they think that Biden’s agenda views punishing people at the pump as a strategy that will deliver more votes?

Such logical considerations are foreign to Fox’s faux journalism. To Fox News all that matters is that Biden used the adjective “incredible” to describe the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. And because Fox’s vocabulary is so shallow, they think that the word “incredible” can only mean fantabulous, rather than just notable or uncommon.

Fox News is also fixated on opposing environmentally sound alternatives to fossil fuels, which Biden correctly notes would make the U.S. and the world stronger. In their article they complain that Biden’s policies contributed to the increase in gas prices. Their evidence is that he canceled the Keystone XL pipeline and paused some oil and gas leases on federal lands. Neither of those measures would have any effect on gas prices. The Keystone XL pipeline was slated to move oil from Canada to the Gulf Coast where it was to be shipped overseas. And the leases were withdrawn because the oil companies weren’t using them.

Another thing that Fox News never bothers to explain is why gas prices are increasing around the world. And in most places the increases are far higher than here in the U.S. In fact, rating the highest gas prices in 170 countries, the U.S. at $4.66 per gallon is way down the list at #106. Does Fox News think that Biden is also president of Norway where gas is twice as much at $9.64 per gallon?

The lies that Fox News is dispensing have already spread to their political affiliates. The New York Post writes that “Biden praises high gas prices as part of ‘incredible transition.'” The Federalist says that “Biden Celebrates Record-High Gas Prices As ‘Incredible Transition.'” The Daily Caller asks “So the high prices are intentional, Joe?” And of course Republicans in Congress (i.e. Marsha Blackburn, Ted Cruz, Rick Scott, Steve Scalise, etc) are regurgitating the false reporting.

The right-wing echo chamber is reverberating with this rubbish. And it will continue as long as they think they can get some political mileage out of it. After which they will have to invent some other fake scandal and start all over again. It’s what they were created to do. It’s why Biden appropriately called them out for being One of the Most Destructive Forces in the U.S. But the only thing that they accomplish is making their audience more stupid every day. And at they they are pretty darn good.

WHUT? Asked How He Sees the Ukraine War Unfolding Trump Replies that ‘Windmills Don’t Work’

One thing that Donald Trump has never been credibly accused of is being even marginally knowledgeable on any subject. Despite his own impression of himself as a “stable genius,” his words and actions invariably prove that he is neither psychologically stable nor any genus of genius.

Donald Trump

If anything, Trump is severely mentally deficient. His all-consuming – and utterly baseless – fixation on the “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was “rigged” is evidence of his cognitive incoherence. And he is, after all, someone who recently expressed his desire to see Hillary Clinton executed for crimes that exist solely in his diseased brain.

So it shouldn’t surprise anyone that Trump made some humiliating remarks during a YouTube interview by a couple of shlock jocks. The “Full Send” podcast was just the latest friendly forum that Trump visited, because he’s too big a coward to let a legitimate journalist interview him. And what happened during this discussion is proof that he’s right to stick with hacks like the Full Send crew. When the conversation turned to the serious subject of Ukraine, Trump just couldn’t handle it:

Full Send Host: What do you see happening next then? Cause it seems like the tensions are high. How does this all end? Is this going to be like a long-term thing? How do you see it unfolding?
Trump: Well, and I said this a long time ago, if this happens, we are playing right into their hands. Green energy. The windmills don’t work. They’re too expensive. They kill all the birds. They ruin your landscapes. And yet the environmentalists love the windmills. And I’ve been preaching this for years. The windmills – and I had them way down – but the windmills are the most expensive energy you can have. And they don’t work.

HUH? Trump was asked a straight forward question about how he viewed the future of the genocidal assault on Ukraine by Russia and his BFF Vladimir Putin. And instead of taking the opportunity to castigate Putin and stand up for Ukraine, Trump veered off into a robotic rehashing of his tedious and obsessive aversion to windmills.

Needless to say, everything Trump said about windmills is false and has been debunked repeatedly. They work quite well, and produce economical energy. But his opposition to them goes back a long way. Despite bragging that “I know a lot about wind,” he launches hysterical claims that they cause cancer, reduce property values, and that you won’t be able to watch TV if the wind isn’t blowing. And as for birds…

What’s more, windmills and green energy are actually the best way to achieve energy independence and prevent future situations wherein Russia, or any other oil rich dictatorship, can hold the U.S. hostage. But, as usual, Trump is taking a position that is most closely aligned with his own self-interests. His long opposition to windmills goes back to a dispute he had with their construction near a golf course he owned in Scotland. He complained that the development would spoil the view. He lost that dispute in British courts, and is still seeking vengeance.

Trump’s typically ridiculous attempt to evade the question about Ukraine shouldn’t surprise anyone either. He has repeatedly demonstrated that he has no idea what’s going on, or what to do about it. But then that is pretty much the case with just about anything he ever addresses.

COVID Gets Even Redder, While Trump Worries More About Windmills (Not) Killing Birds

An exhaustive analysis of COVID-19 data by David Leonhardt of the New York Times has found that the efforts of right-wing media like Fox News to deceive their audience about the coronavirus have been remarkably effective. The result confirms previous studies that show that those who rely on Fox News for information are significantly more at risk for contracting COVID than those who do not.

Donald Trump, Coronavirus

The article in the Times is validation that trusting Fox News is dangerous to your health, as well as that of your family, your community, and your nation. Leonhardt goes into detail in the article, but he summarized some of his findings in a handy Twitter thread beginning here (with some key points following):

“The true explanation is straightforward: The vaccines are remarkably effective at preventing severe COVID, and almost 40 percent of Republican adults remain unvaccinated, compared with about 10 percent of Democratic adults, per @KHNews polls.”

“As a result, COVID deaths have been concentrated in counties outside of major metropolitan areas. Many of these are in red states, while others are in red parts of blue or purple states.”

“This situation is a tragedy, in which irrational fears about vaccine side effects have overwhelmed rational fears about a deadly virus.”

“It stems from disinformation — promoted by right-wing media, like Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News, the Sinclair Broadcast Group and online sources.”

“[C]onservative Americans will probably continue to suffer an outsized amount of unnecessary illness and death.”

This is indeed a tragic situation. And the problem is not limited to conservatives and Fox News viewers. Their stubborn refusal to accept the science has the potential of allowing the virus to mutant into new variants that are vaccine resistant. So they are putting everyone else at risk to satisfy their partisan blindness and selfishness. What’s more, they are preventing businesses and schools from fully opening up so that we can return to some semblance of normalcy.

In the meantime, Donald Trump has not even mentioned this matter, even though it is affecting his supporters more than anyone else. But he did have the time to tweet (via his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill) that energy generating windmill turbines are “Destroying our oceans, landscapes, and birds!” He forgot to mention his ludicrous belief that they also cause cancer.

Trump’s tweet linked to a three week old article in the New York Times about the Biden administration’s plans “to build 30,000 megawatts of offshore wind in the United States by 2030.” The article said nothing about birds. That was another of Trump’s tropes that has no basis in reality, but which he frequently repeats to keep his cult disciples in a perpetual state of fear. For the record, according to the Sierra Club

“Estimates of up to a million or more birds a year are killed by turbines in the US, but that is far exceeded by collisions with communications towers (6.5 million); power lines, (25 million); windows (up to 1 billion); and cats (1.3 to 4.0 billion); and those lost due to habitat loss, pollution and climate change (American Bird Conservancy, Nature). Even if there were twenty times more wind turbines, enough to supply the US with electricity, the number of birds killed, assuming no improvement in wind turbine design, would be about 10 million–still far less than most other causes of bird deaths.”

So apparently Trump is more worried about his false notion that windmills are killing an excessive amount of birds, than he is about COVID actually killing people – particularly Republicans, the people who he purports to represent and who worship him. It’s a grotesque mangling of priorities that rests on a foundation of lies.

And if that weren’t bad enough, Trump and his GOP confederates are so utterly incapable of responding to the recent good news for Democrats and America (infrastructure bill, jobs report, climate conference, COVID decline), that they are resorting to attacking (the fictional) Big Bird of Sesame Street for having the audacity to educate children about vaccines. There goes his pretense about caring for birds.
