Fox News to Trump’s Thugs: Stop Threatening FBI Agents, Threaten AG Merrick Garland Instead

Last week the FBI conducted an unprecedented search of the residence/luxury golf golf resort of former reality TV game show host, and twice-impeached president of the United States, Donald Trump. What makes this unprecedented is the fact that no other American president has ever been the suspect in so many brazenly criminal activities.

Fox News Steve Doocy

The FBI served a search warrant at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago bunker that sought to recover classified documents that Trump had unlawfully taken from the White House. The documents contained highly sensitive information that would cause great harm to American national security if they got out. After months of denying that he had any such documents, and failing to comply with subpoenas, the FBI took the unusual step of executing a search warrant.

RELATED: The Trump Cult Knows He’s Guilty, So They’re All on Fox News Yammering About Planted Evidence

The reaction from Trump’s defenders in politics and the press has been a hodge-podge of contrived excuses that range from the comically idiotic to the pathologically depraved. Among the array of attempted alibis floated by Trump and company were that the documents either didn’t exist, weren’t classified, or were planted by the FBI. And as such, the search was justification for unchecked fury by Trump’s supporters and apologists. That fury erupted into actual acts of violence against the FBI and threats of more to come.

Consequently, Fox News concluded that it would be a good idea to distance themselves from the violence and the hostile rhetoric. So on Monday morning Steve Doocy, co-host of Fox and Friends, made a plaintive plea for peace that didn’t go down very well (video below):

“We just know that right now there are a lot of online, very specific threats against very specific agents at the FBI and whatnot. It would be great for everybody to tamp down the rhetoric against the FBI, because the FBI simply was doing what the DOJ asked them to do. The Attorney General is the boss of the guy at the FBI, of all the people at the FBI.”

Then Doocy makes an uncharacteristically rational suggestion that “It would be great if [Trump] called for an end to the violent rhetoric against federal law enforcement.” Indeed. But that’s not Trump’s style. In fact, he has been doing the opposite by inflaming rage on the part of his glassy-eyed cult disciples.

It’s exactly like his response to the the January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C., where he refused to call on his supporters to terminate their assault on Congress. He watched gleefully from the White House as the riots escalated and his own Vice-President’s life was threatened. It was so brazen that even Rupert Murdoch’s newspapers condemned it.

RELATED: WOAH! Rupert Murdoch’s Right-Wing New York Post Scorches Trump as ‘Unworthy’ to Be President

Trump is doing precisely the same thing now. He is deliberately refraining from calling off his StormTrumpers, because he is hoping for more violence against law enforcement in pursuit of his perverse aspiration to undermine democracy, overthrow the government, and become America’s Fuhrer. Doocy then went on to explicitly propose that Trump’s seditionist hordes shift their violent threats from the FBI agents’ legal search of Mar-a-Lago, to Attorney General Merrick Garland:

“If you want to personify that search, look at the Attorney General of the United States. Merrick Garland is the one who has staked his entire reputation on it. If there’s not something really big there, he’s gone.”

Doocy may have thought he was being responsible by appealing to the decency of Fox News viewers (as if they have any) to refrain from attacking well-meaning law enforcement officers. But he only managed to redirect their anger toward the Attorney General, accusing him of being the evil mastermind and the proper target for the Trump mobs. That’s what Fox News regards as a sensible alternative to declaring a civil war against the federal government. And if any harm should come to Garland, it will just be more blood on the hands of Fox Fox News.

Trump’s Ludicrous ‘Whataboutism’ Falsely Accuses Obama of Absconding With Classified Documents

In the wake of the FBI searching Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago bunker, the right-wing propaganda machine has been working overtime to defend their aspiring authoritarian master. It’s been a dangerously dishonest display of disinformation intended to stoke fear and hostility among Trump’s cult followers

Barack Obama, Donald Trump

In the days after the FBI operation, Republican shills and Fox News hacks mobilized to spread their contrived nonsense asserting preposterous conspiracies from clandestine cabals aimed at destroying Trump’s future electoral prospects, to baseless charges that the FBI was planting evidence to incriminate Trump, as if he weren’t doing that himself every time he opens his mouth.

RELATED: The Trump Cult Knows He’s Guilty, So They’re All on Fox News Yammering About Planted Evidence

On Thursday afternoon, Attorney General Merrick Garland called Trump’s bluff. He filed a motion to unseal the Mar-a-Lago search warrant. Trump’s allies in the media have been clamoring for just this sort of transparency. And now they can get what they’ve been pretending to wish for. Although Trump himself was the only obstacle to releasing the warrant, which he could have done at any time, since he has a copy of it. Now he is calling for the warrant to be released, while maligning it as having been written by “radical left Democrats and possible future political opponents.”

Now why do you suppose Trump would want to disparage the warrant that was actually written by career Justice Department professionals? Perhaps because he knows that it was valid and contains incriminating information about Trump having taken classified materials – possibly including some with nuclear secrets – and storing them at his highly unsecure golf resort. It’s telling that Trump hasn’t bothered to make a substantive denial of any of that. Instead, choosing to unleash infantile insults, obvious deflections, tedious yammering that every allegation against him is a “hoax,” and ridiculous, reckless charges that FBI planted evidence.

Trump has until 3:00 pm Friday to officially advise the court if he will object to the motion. Which, knowing Trump, he might not actually do. In the meantime he’s posting bizarre rants on his miserably failing Twitter ripoff, TRUTH Social. Among those posts is one that raises “whataboutism” to new heights of the absurd…

“What happened to the 30 million pages of documents taken from the White House to Chicago by Barack Hussein Obama? He refused to give them back! What is going on? This act was strongly at odds with NARA. Will they be breaking into Obama’s “mansion” in Martha’s Vineyard?”

Trump’s jealousy of Obama continues to haunt him. The latest example of it was triggered by a New York Post article that was deliberately misleadingly, saying that “Barack Obama trucked 30 million pages of his administration’s records to Chicago.” The truth, as noted in the Washington Post, is that “the Obama team was transferring the records to Chicago through the National Archives.” And that “there isn’t the faintest hint of legal violations.”

In other words, the documents were always managed by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), which controlled the facility in Chicago, and none of them were classified. Which Obama’s website affirmed saying that the document transfer was “the [Obama] Foundation’s joint endeavor with NARA to digitize nearly 30 million pages of unclassified paper records of the Obama presidency.” The National Archives has also affirmed this.

Trump’s comment was pure fiction. Obama never “refused” to give anything back, because he never took anything. There was nothing “at odds with NARA.” And why would Trump even mention “breaking into Obama’s ‘mansion’ in Martha’s Vineyard,” when his fallacious allegation claimed the documents were in Chicago?

The bottom line is that Trump is parroting purposeful lies by Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post and other right-wing press. And they are doing it despite the fact that the truth is readily available and has been for years. But then what else should we expect from Trump and company? Even Fox news is starting to cringe at the antics of Trump and his minions.

RELATED: Fox News Surprisingly Grills GOP Rep Scalise About His Wacko Charges of ‘Rogue’ FBI Agents

THIS JUST IN: Trump is now fundraising off of this BS…

UPDATE: Trump posted a new comment literally admitting that he had documents that were classified. He wrote that “Number one, it was all declassified.” Which means there were previously classified. And since there is no evidence that they were ever declassified, other than this after-the-fact statement, they are officially still classified. Either way, he previously denied he had anything at all. His comment also says the FBI could have had the documents at any time, just by asking. But the evidence shows that Trump refused to turn them over, which is why the warrant was issued. And finally, Trump threw in the Obama deflection again, which we know is a lie.

Fox News Surprisingly Grills GOP Rep Scalise About His Wacko Charges of ‘Rogue’ FBI Agents

On Monday Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago bunker was served a with search warrant by the FBI who were reportedly looking for classified documents that Trump unlawfully took from the White House and failed to disclose he still had. It is a crime that has serious implications for national security, as well as severe penalties for violators.

Fox News Friends

Ever since then, Trump’s Republican cult followers, and especially Fox News, have been throwing up all manner of preposterous defenses for Trump’s malfeasance. Much of their psychotic overreactions were drenched with accusations of wrongdoing by the FBI and threats of violence against law enforcement. They even unleashed a coordinated media attack baselessly alleging that the FBI planted evidence.

RELATED: The Trump Cult Knows He’s Guilty, So They’re All on Fox News Yammering About Planted Evidence

However, on Thursday there was an uncharacteristically sane segment on Fox and Friends wherein co-host Steve Doocy actually challenged the Republican House Minority Whip, Steve Scalise, while he was in the process of disseminating the GOP screed about the FBI operation in Palm Beach. Doocy started off by saying…

Doocy: There are a number of people, online and elsewhere, that are demonizing the FBI. And some Republicans. Paul Gosar, a Republican in your caucus from Arizona, said, “We must destroy the FBI. We must save America. I stand with Donald Trump.” Marjorie Taylor Greene said, “Defend [he meant defund] the FBI.” I’m just curious, whatever happened to the Republican Party backing the blue? And in particular, the 35 members of law enforcement at the FBI?
Scalise: We’re very strong supporters of law enforcement, and it concerns everybody to see some agents go rogue, and if you see an agency that doesn’t have the right checks and balances at the top. this is coming from the top

You may have noticed that, rather than answering Doocy’s question, Scalise invented some imaginary “concerns” that “everybody” is having about “rogue” FBI agents. And in the same breath he placed the blame, not on rogue agents, but on the people “at the top.” So Doocy pressed further…

Doocy: Who went rogue? They were following a search warrant.
Scalise: We want to find that out. That’s why we’re asking these questions. Because there were reports yesterday saying that Merrick Garland didn’t even know about this raid. I don’t if anybody believes that, but he should be asked under oath if he knew about the raid prior to it happening. He hasn’t answered that question. Why hasn’t he held a press conference? Why won’t President Biden talk about this? That is deafening right now, that silence.

Scalise is now flagrantly lying. The examples that Doocy gave of Gosar and Greene were not questions. They were overt statements advocating the destruction and/or defunding of the FBI. What’s more, there have been no reports that Attorney General Merrick Garland didn’t know about this raid. To the contrary, almost every report said that Garland, and FBI Director Chris Wray (a Trump appointee), would have almost certainly had to sign off on it.

Scalise then complains that Garland hasn’t talked about the search. But Scalise knows – or should know – that it would be improper for him to do so. The search warrant was issued under seal. And President Biden has correctly remained distanced from the Justice Department’s operations.

The only one who could have provided any additional data about this was Trump himself. He has a copy of the search warrant, and there is nothing stopping him from releasing it. Well, nothing except the likelihood that it contains something that would incriminate him.

RELATED: Eric Trump Admits on Fox News that the Trump Admin Interfered with Justice Department Business

At this point co-host Brian Kilmeade chirps in with the news that GOP Rep. Scott Perry had his cellphone seized by the FBI. And Scalise suggests that there is something untoward about the IRS getting funding to add more agents, who will only be working on high-income individuals and corporations. Both of those matters are obvious deflections that have nothing to do with the search at Mar-a-Lago. But Doocy brings the discussion back to the issue at hand saying…

Doocy: Steve, why not wait a week or so until we know more about this search warrant, then immediately rush to judgment and say, “Yeah, the FBI, they’re crazy.”
Scalise: We’re asking questions right now that no one is answering. We’re not hearing the FBI answer any of these questions. We’re not hearing Justice. And we’re sure not hearing the White House.

Once again, Scalise is not asking questions. And the people he wants to speak out are prohibited by law and ethics from doing so. But what’s truly remarkable about this exchange is that Doocy was the one introducing a rational perspective to the discussion. It would be too soon to assume that there has been any change in Fox’s editorial stance on these matters. They are, after all, the ones who have been ranting about the FBI planting evidence. But it is sufficiently peculiar to keep an eye on.

UPDATE: AG Garland held a press conference Thursday afternoon to announce that the Justice Department will make a motion to unseal parts of the search warrant, so that they can be made public. That should make Scalise happy. Or, more likely, just make him have to contrive a different set of lies to cast aspersions on the FBI, law enforcement, the President, and to absolve his messiah Trump of any wrongdoing.

Garland noted that the Department of Justice intended the search to be conducted quietly, but it was Trump who made it a public spectacle. And when the warrant is made public like Republicans and Fox News have wanted, they will learn why it’s important to be careful what you wish for. You may just get it.

Liz Cheney: The ‘Supreme Dereliction of Duty’ By Trump Could Warrant Criminal Referral

With the ongoing horrors of the Russian genocide on Ukraine, it’s easy to forget the domestic horrors that are still percolating here at home. Although it’s been more than a year since Donald Trump incited deadly riots in Washington, D.C., the need for accountability has never diminished. Indeed, recent polls show – and Trump bizarrely brags – that 67% of Americans say that Trump is responsible for the violent January 6th insurrection.

Donald Trump, Prison

The House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection is continuing its exhaustive process of acquiring testimony and documentation of the crimes of Trump and others in his conspiratorial cabal. And Attorney General Merrick Garland said earlier this month that the Justice Department’s investigation won’t end until everyone is held accountable:

“Attorney General Merrick Garland said Thursday that when it comes to politically sensitive investigations, the Justice Department does ‘not shy away from cases that are controversial or sensitive or political. To do that would undermine an element of the rule of law, which is that we treat like cases alike without regard to the subject matter,’ Garland told reporters in response to a question about the January 6 investigation.”

RELATED: Crybaby Trump Whines that ‘They Wanna Put Me in Jail’ – Just Because He’s a Criminal

So while it appears that the probe is dragging on interminably, there are also signs that the wheels of justice are turning and that the perpetrators will face consequences. That prospect was addressed during an interview with a Republican Committee member , Liz Cheney, on Meet the Press:

Chuck Todd: Should we expect criminal referrals on this? And should we expect something – how much new do you think the public will learn that will actually change the way they thought about January 6th?

Cheney: I think certainly our first priority is to make recommendations. And we see things like do we need enhanced criminal penalties for the kind of supreme dereliction of duty that you saw with president Trump when he refused to tell the mob to go home after he had provoked that attack on the Capitol.

So there will be legislative recommendations and there certainly will be information. And I can tell you I have not learned a single thing since I have been on this committee that has made me less concerned or less worried about the gravity of the situation and the actions that president Trump took and also refused to take while the attack was underway.

First of all, Todd’s question implies that the public needs to learn something new that will change their minds about Trump’s guilt. And while there’s always room for more, the majority of the American people are already convinced of of his culpability.

More to the point, Cheney’s response reveals that the Committee is collecting abundant evidence that could result in indictments. Her reference to Trump’s “supreme dereliction of duty” was not made casually. And her observance that the more information that comes out, the more Trump’s wrongdoing is apparent, cannot be providing Trump much comfort.

RELATED: Trump Publicly Confesses to Coup Attempt in Tweet that Pence ‘Could Have Overturned the Election’

The January 6th Committee has compiled a massive amount of evidence and deposed numerous Trump insiders. They are building a strong case supported by first hand testimony and unimpeachable documentation, including untold hours of damning video. And while the pace is frustratingly slow, the direction is unambiguously toward conviction.

Nevertheless, the public needs to stay alert and continue to put pressure on the legal and political players who control the process. That’s the path to holding Trump and his seditious confederates accountable, and to achieve the righteous goal of justice: Lock Him Up!

Big Baby Trump Lashes Out at Adam Schiff for Urging the Justice Dept to Probe His Crimes

The best way to gauge what Donald Trump is most afraid of at any given point in time is to observe whatever he is ranting about at that time. And more often than not, Trump is ranting about his decisive loss to President Biden in the 2020 election.

Donald Trump, Adam Schiff

Ever since Trump’s humiliating rejection by a significant majority of the American people, he has persisted in lying about the election being “rigged” and “stolen” from him. Never mind that in more than a year – and sixty plus court cases – he has failed to produce a shred of evidence of his delusional charges.

A few weeks ago House Democrats formed the bipartisan Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Insurrection. Trump’s role in that atrocity has been well documented. So naturally he has taken to slandering the Committee and its members. He even issued a hysterical debate challenge to anyone willing to sully themselves by pandering to his lunacy. Of course, if he really wants to debate members of the January 6th Committee, he could just volunteer to show up and testify under oath. Don’t hold your breath waiting for that to happen. FYI: Trump is now dodging the debate his proposed.

At the forefront of Trump’s diseased mind is Rep. Adam Schiff, who was also a key figure during Trump’s first impeachment. His closing arguments were a brilliant and moving summation of the offenses Trump committed that warranted his impeachment and removal from office. But now Trump is lashing out in his typically infantile manner at Schiff. He tweeted (via his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill)…

“Do you believe that Shifty Adam Schiff is on the Committee concerning the 2020 protest when he was the one that scammed America and the World on the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax? He’s a sleezeball that has no credibility and is so bad for our Nation!”

Notice that Trump is calling the deadly riots in Washington, D.C., that he incited a “protest.” And he continues to refer to the verified accounts of his unsavory connections to Russia as a “hoax.” As for the childish insults he hurled at Schiff, as usual they apply more accurately to himself.

This latest Trump tantrum was likely triggered by reports that Schiff is concerned that Attorney General Merrick Garland is not pursuing indictments against Trump and his crime syndicate. Schiff has been making the rounds on television news programs to promote his new book, Midnight in Washington: How We Almost Lost Our Democracy and Still Could. During those interviews Schiff has made a point of expressing his disappointment with the Attorney General:

“I think there’s a real desire on the part of the attorney general, for the most part, not to look backward,” Schiff said on the podcast. “Do I disagree with that? I do disagree with that, and I disagree with it most vehemently when it comes to what I consider even more serious offenses.”

Schiff’s views are shared by millions of Americans who are anxious to see Trump and his cronies held accountable for their anti-democratic activities. There is more than enough evidence to indict and convict Trump. Some of the evidence comes from Trump himself. There’s even an account from his coup plotting co-conspirator Alex Jones implicating him.

So Trump’s Twitter freak out is understandable. But it isn’t going to make things any better for him. To the contrary, it only affirms his consciousness of guilt. Hopefully Garland will heed Schiff’s warnings and get moving on the Trump investigation. There is little time to spare. Republicans are hoping to run out the clock. But for the sake of democracy, and the future of the country, Garland must not allow that to happen.

Fox News Whacko Warning to America: ‘You’re Gonna End Up with Mom and Pop at Gitmo’

As the political landscape in America becomes ever more mired in the hatred and division of Donald Trump’s demagoguery, Fox News is creeping ever farther out onto the limb of ludicrous lies and malicious mania. This week for instance, Fox’s Senior White Nationalist, Tucker Carlson, is debuting his crocumentary that glorifies the January 6th insurrection as an act of patriotism.

Fox News, Titanic

On Monday morning Fox News took another step into the bizarro world beyond. Host Harris Faulkner interviewed Arizona’s Republican Attorney General and Senate candidate, Mark Brnovich. The subject was the completely manufactured controversy over school curriculum and the hostilities of right-wing agitators at school board meetings.

Brnovich sought to present some well coordinated disinformation about efforts by the Department of Justice to respond to the threats of violence aimed at school board members and teachers made by many of the wingnut attendees of these meetings. Attorney General Merrick Garland specifically directed his initiative to those who were overtly intimidating and violating the law. But the Fox News narrative twisted it into something else entirely, falsely alleging that it infringed on free speech. Which led to this exchange between Faulkner and Brnovich:

Brnovich: Joe Biden and Merrick Garland essentially want to weaponize, or continue to weaponize the Department of Justice. And just because parents are exercising their constitutional rights to speak out against critical race theory, or even vaccine mandates, does not make them domestic terrorists. And if we allow the Biden administration to continue this, god forbid, you’re gonna end up with mom and pop at Gitmo. Think about how outrageous that is.
Faulkner: That is outrageous. Could that really happen?
Brnovich: We are living in a time where we all need to make sure that we are protecting our constitutional rights on every single level. From the local school board level, to state, and especially on the federal level.
Faulkner: That’s interesting, because you say one leads to the other. That sounds like a slippery slope, which is how you got there.

“Mom and pop at Gitmo?” Really? Brnovich appears to be suffering from an acute case of delusional paranoia. This is a remark that is solely intended to stir irrational fears in the minds of Fox’s already terrified viewers. Garland was not calling parents who were expressing their views “domestic terrorists.” He was addressing only those who actually engaged in acts of violence and intimidation. Brnovich knows that. And so does Faulkner, whose servile response was to agree with Brnovich and ask incredulously if incarcerating innocent parents at Guantanamo Bay could really happen. They know this is pure bullpucky because Garland said in plain terms that he was addressing…

“…a disturbing spike in harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff who participate in the vital work of running our nation’s public schools. […] The obligation of the Justice Department is to protect the American people against violence and threats of violence and that particularly includes public officials.”

These are the depths to which Fox News is sinking. They have no coherent case to make for their ultra-conservative agenda, so they are winging it with preposterous allegations of shipping parents off to island prisons. What’s more, they can’t rely on Trump anymore since he’s out of office and exiled from social media. Plus, he spends more time attacking Fox News than promoting it, as he did last week. These are (hopefully) the last dying breaths of a propaganda machine that is wallowing in desperation.
