Trump Issues An Impotent Threat of Mass Incarceration of Imaginary Migrant ‘Election Fraudsters’

The authoritarian compulsions of convicted felon Donald Trump have exhibited themselves in his frequent and public declarations of overt intentions to seek “retribution” against his perceived enemies, including all Democrats, insufficiently worshipful Republicans, independent judges, domestic and foreign diplomats, disloyal business leaders, and, of course, the media that he refers to in Stalinist terms as “the enemy of the people.”

Trump’s obsession with getting revenge on those he believes have wronged him has been the single most motivating factor in his campaign to reoccupy the White House, with the possible exception of his fear of being sent to prison himself for his multitude of crimes. His response to that fear is to threaten his foes with prosecution, including charges of treason that carry the death penalty.

On Tuesday Trump extended his threats to a group of people that he has long detested: Immigrants. On his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, Trump posted a comment in support of a new Republican bill aimed at making it illegal for undocumented immigrants to vote in federal elections. Which is a blatantly transparent political stunt because, of course, that is already illegal. Trump wrote that…

“Republicans must pass the Save Act, or go home and cry yourself to sleep. Non citizen Illegal Migrants are getting the right to vote […] Our whole voting system is under siege.”

To no one’s surprise, Trump is lying. There aren’t any “Non citizen Illegal Migrants [who] are getting the right to vote.” And his baseless assertion that the “whole voting system is under siege,” is utterly delusional. If that were true, why didn’t Trump do anything about it in the four years that he was pretending to be president? Where is his evidence that it is happening now? But despite his complete departure from reality, Trump went on to issue a foreboding threat…

“If I’m elected President, we will pursue Election Fraudsters at levels never seen before, and they will be sent to prison for long periods of time. We already know who you are. DON’T DO IT! ZUCKERBUCKS, be careful!”

So Trump is specifically threatening to arrest and imprison Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, along with hundreds (thousands?) of others whose names he allegedly already knows, but whom he has declined to report to the authorities. Are you one of them?

This threat is consistent with Trump’s often hyperbolic proclamations that immigrants are running rampant throughout the nation, committing crimes with the approval of the Biden administration. He has promised to deport some 15 million people whose immigration status he can’t even certify. That would undoubtedly lead to untold numbers of American citizens being shipped off to foreign lands that they never knew.

Trump has never explained how his deportation scheme would be carried out. But for the record, it would take some 75,000 flights to transport 15 million people to other countries around the world. That would cost at least $7.5 billion. And that isn’t counting the billions it would take for law enforcement to round them up, or to build and staff the internment camps where they would have to be housed until their status and country of origin were established.

Trump is also advancing the virulently racist “White Replacement Theory” that posits that Democrats are trying to import foreigners in order to shift the balance of the electorate. Never mind that it would take many years for any immigrant, much less an undocumented one, to be granted legal status and eventually citizenship.

Trump is engaging in another impotent threat that is based on solely on his seething hatred and perverse perspective of the world. He couldn’t carry it out even if he were reelected. And reality has shown us that nearly every legitimate case of election fraud in the past several years was the work of Republicans. But Trump has never been one to allow facts to interfere with his fetid fantasies.

BIDEN: Trump is Riding Around in His Golf Cart at Mar-a-Lago Talking to His Wealthy Friends

Nearly two weeks ago, President Biden debated Donald Trump on CNN and unfortunately fell short of offering an accounting of himself that could have buried the convicted felon and adjudicated rapist before a national audience of millions. It was a missed opportunity to pull ahead of Trump and coast to victory in November.

For the two weeks that have transpired since, the media has been doing a great disservice to the nation by obsessing over President Biden’s age, while ignoring his successes with the economy and foreign policy, as well as Trump’s pathological lies and incoherence bordering on insanity. And it’s not as if Trump’s debate performance was anything but an embarrassing excretion of flagrant falsehoods and infantile insults.

Furthermore, Biden has spent the past two weeks doing rallies and interviews – 18 so far – in order to demonstrate his vigor and competence as a proven leader. And where has Trump been? Well, let’s let Biden tell us what he told Morning Joe on MSNBC this morning…

“Trump’s just a liar. And he hasn’t done a damn thing since the debate. He’s been riding around in his golf cart for 10 days down in Mar-a-Lago talking to his wealthy friends.”

Exactly!. Trump’s avoidance of the press and the public is typical of his cowardly campaign strategy throughout this election cycle. The only public appearances he makes are before rapidly shrinking crowds of his glassy-eyed cult disciples. And the only interviews he grants are with certified Trump-fluffers on devoted propaganda outlets. And even those are having a hard time living down to his demands for total capitulation to unflinching adoration.

Biden also told Joe Scarborough that he is adamant about his decision to stay in the race and beat Trump – again. The decision voters have to make now is historically unique. It isn’t just one candidate or the other. It’s a decent leader with integrity, or a criminal, wannabe dictator that half the country thinks should be in prison. Biden reiterated some of his reasons for running, saying that…

“I’m running because I never bought into the trickle-down economics theory. I never bought into the notion that we have to walk away from the rest of the world and cave to Putin or anybody else.” [and that] “I’m confidant that’s where the American people are…I don’t care what the millionaires think.”

Trump meanwhile, continues to boldly run away from his own positions and platforms, such as “Project 2025,” a handbook for fascism, that was authored by many of his closest associates. He likewise continues to spew utterly bizarre tales that bare no resemblance to reality (e.g. fantasy death by batteries or sharks, all Democrats favoring overturning of Roe v Wade, Biden orchestrating his 34 felony convictions, etc.).

Biden’s post-debate appearances have shown him to be alert and engaged and compassionate about advancing the interests of the American people. Trump, however, has burrowed himself into his Mar-a-Lago bunker among the wealthy guests who worship him. But his conspicuous absence from the campaign trail raises questions about his own fitness for office. Will the press interrupt their marathon Biden-bashing to explore any of those questions? To be determined…

The press seems to have a single-minded mission to drive Biden out of the presidential race because he struggled to express himself effectively at the debate. Never mind that, while Trump didn’t have any problem speaking, he had a huge problem telling the truth. And to the press, being a pathological liar isn’t a disqualifying characteristic for someone seeking to become leader of the free world, a position that Trump has already failed horribly at. Adding to the muck, is the notorious muckraking rag, the New York Post. This Rupert Murdoch propaganda spewer published a story by Fox News correspondent, Charlie Gasparino, with the blatantly racist headline, “America may soon be subjected to the country’s first DEI president: Kamala Harris.” It hardly requires reading the article to get the gist of what it is saying. The right-wingers of America have been furiously trying to redefine the acronym “DEI” (diversity, equity, and inclusion) to mean “incompetent minorities and women trying to steal jobs from White men.” The article opened saying that…

“There is a raging debate in corporate America on the future of DEI, aka Diversity ­Equity and Inclusion, because it is literally destroying businesses that go there. And yet the American public may soon be subjected to DEI writ large in the next president of the United States, if Kamala Harris finds her way to the top of the Democratic ticket.”

To be clear, the article is attacking Harris as undeserving of her position as Vice-President, or any position she might have subsequent to that. They are dismissing the fact that she is the former Attorney General of California and a United States Senator. Apparently they don’t regard those as qualification for high office. But they do appreciate wealthy White men who have bankrupted multiple business and bragged about committing sexual assault.

The article also insults Harris personally as “the most irrepressibly fatuous politician in America” and “manifest ­unlikability.” It then goes on to complain about the fact that she has dared to laugh – or in their words, cackle – in public…

The article doesn’t leave out the author’s deep-seated hatred for President Biden either. He adopts Trump’s infantile nickname of “Sleepy Joe,” and offers some preposterous lies about Biden’s policies. For instance, he says that Biden “literally invites terrorists to enter the country and kill people.” Literally? This author clearly doesn’t know what the word means. But he couldn’t come up with any figurative examples of his ridiculous claim either.

The article’s case against DEI is profoundly ludicrous and steeped in hypocrisy. Someone needs to tell them about the Fox News Corporate Responsibility Report that boasts that the company is “committed to diversity from the very top [and that] An inclusive and diverse workplace is not merely a strategy or business objective—it is fundamentally woven in the fabric of the Company.” It goes on to elaborate more specifically that…

“Our Preventing Harassment, Discrimination and Retaliation Policy protects individuals on the basis of a person’s actual or perceived race, religious creed, color, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, age, physical disability, mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, family status, caregiver status, sex (including pregnancy status, childbirth, breastfeeding, and related medical conditions), gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, sexual and reproductive health decisions, reproductive health decision-making, hair texture or hairstyles, military or veteran status, political affiliation, arrest or conviction record, union membership, unemployment status, credit history, status as a victim of domestic violence, stalking or sexual offenses, or any other legally protected characteristic.”

So Fox News, to the surprise of no one who has watched it with clear eyes, is hysterically hypocritical. What’s more, they spend much of their airtime vilifying a policy that is “fundamentally woven in the fabric of the Company.” And yet, they still dredge up their inbred prejudices to purposefully ignore and/or misinterpret DEI in order to use it against the first Black woman to serve as Vice-President. But then, would anyone expect anything else from Rupert Murdoch and his Klan Empire?

Felonious Trump Begs President Biden to Stay in the Race in a Sarcastic Rant Filled with Lies

In the week following the Biden/Trump debate on CNN, politicians, pundits and the press demanded that President Biden take measures to restore confidence in his ability to lead the nation. So Biden did several well received public appearances, and a highly anticipated interview with George Stephanopoulos of ABC News, wherein he comported himself respectably. And that satisfied the howling monkeys who were clamoring for Biden to drop out of the race. Right?

Not exactly. To the contrary, much of the post-interview punditry seems to have a coordinated response that shifted the goalposts from “Biden needs to do an unscripted interview” to “Biden needs to do ten unscripted interviews.” And after the tenth interview he will need to beat Novak Djokovic at tennis and Garry Kasparov at chess. In the meantime, Donald Trump merely needs to refrain from eating paste while being let off the hook for disgorging a record number of lies.

As the media and nervous Democrats fret about whether Biden should continue his campaign, Trump is pretending that he is anxious for Biden to carry on. He should be careful what he wishes for. True to form, Trump is couching his comments in a childishly sarcastic manner that is the hallmark of his putrid personality. He posted an appeal for Biden to “ignore his many critics and move forward” on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, ranting that…

“Crooked Joe Biden should ignore his many critics and move forward, with alacrity and strength, with his powerful and far reaching campaign. He should be sharp, precise, and energetic, just like he was in The Debate, in selling his policies of Open Borders (where millions of people, including record numbers of Terrorists, are allowed to enter our Country, from prisons and mental institutions, totally unchecked and unvetted!), to Ending Social Security, Men playing in Women’s sports, High Taxes, High Interest Rates, encouraging a Woke Military, Uncontrollable Inflation, Record Setting Crime, Only Electric Vehicles, Subservience to China and other Countries, Endless Wars, putting America Last, losing our Dollar Based Standard, and so much more. Yes, Sleepy Joe should continue his campaign of American Destruction and, MAKE CHINA GREAT AGAIN!”

Setting aside Trump’s disingenuous praise of Biden’s “alacrity and strength,” what stands out in this harangue is that everything – EVERYTHING – Trump cited as a Biden policy is a flagrant lie. Biden does not support open borders. There are not record numbers of terrorists entering the country. And there is no evidence of migrants being released from prisons or mental institutions.

Furthermore, It is Trump, not Biden, who has advocated policies that would devastate Social Security and Medicare. It is Trump who proposes more tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy, to the detriment of lower and middle-class citizens. Sixteen Nobel Laureates found that Trump’s economic plan would increase inflation and interest rates. Crime rose substantially during Trump’s term, and has declined during Biden’s. And his opposition to electric vehicles would harm both the environment and the U.S. economy.

Perhaps most striking part of Trump’s litany of lies was his warning that Biden would “MAKE CHINA GREAT AGAIN!” All of the evidence of Biden’s first term proves that he is advancing the interests of American companies and workers. He is brining back manufacturing jobs from China with the CHIPS Act and other science and environmental industries. But what’s especially ludicrous about Trump’s allegation is that he has literally promised to make not only China, but Russia and North Korea, great again…

That’s what the Trump cult is voting for. And it’s why everyone else needs to be more resolute than ever to defeat Trump and save America.

He is opposed to reproductive health access, gun safety reforms, tax fairness for corporations and the wealthy, LGBTQ+ equality, climate change mitigation, voting rights, and even the concept of democracy.

Trump’s agenda embraces the most extreme right-wing policies on virtually every major issue of importance to the majority of American voters. And yet, his glassy-eyed cult disciples continue to cling to his every word. They are not even dissuaded by his 34 felony convictions, his multi-million dollar judgments for financial fraud and sexual abuse, or his affinity for foreign dictators. To them he is always the purest model of humanity and a perennial victim.

On Friday morning Trump posted a comment to his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, that was a cringeworthy combination of flagrant dishonesty and cognitive confusion. It showcased his ability to lie and be incoherent at the same time. Trump wrote that…

“I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them.”

For those who haven’t been paying attention, Project 2025 is an extremist Republican platform that adopts the MAGA policy agenda including advocating for an authoritarian White House that would control executive branch agencies including the Justice Department, eliminate Cabinet offices including Education and Environment, implement severe immigration initiatives, such as building internment camps and mass deportation, terminate civil service staffers and replace them with MAGA loyalists, push voter suppression measures, repeal healthcare legislation, deregulate corporations, impose media censorship, and more.

In other words, Project 2025 is a more detailed and articulate presentation of the broadly abhorred Trump agenda. So naturally, Trump is distancing himself from it. And just as naturally, his attempt to walk away is illustrative of his notorious inability to construct a logical thought.

Let’s begin with the fact that Trump is lying about not knowing about Project 2025 or who is behind it. Trump has a long association with the ultra-rightist Heritage Foundation that is the author of the plan. More directly, many of Trump’s closest associates, including former members of his Cabinet, are principal contributors to the project. For instance, Russell Vought, Stephan Moore, Peter Navarro, Ben Carson, and Ken Cucinelli.

Where Trump’s mental acuity is askew is in his insistence that “I disagree with some of the things they’re saying,” even though he also says that “I know nothing about Project 2025.” So what exactly is he disagreeing with?

What’s more, although he claims to know nothing about it, Trump still says that “some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal.” How does he know that if he knows nothing about it? It is also evidence of derangement that he claims to find the project “abysmal” and yet “Anything they do, I wish them luck.” Because who doesn’t wish luck for projects that they vehemently do not support?

Trump may have been spooked by recent remarks by the Heritage Foundation’s president Kevin Roberts, who said that “we are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be.” Which is an overt threat that the left had better acquiesce to his demands or there will be bloodshed.

On the surface it seems reasonable for Trump to want to avoid any association with that violent sentiment. However, in reality it is just an expression of what Trump himself has already said. For instance…

“I’m not sure that the public would stand for it. I think it would be tough for the public to take. You know, at a certain point there’s a breaking point.”

Don’t Even Try It? Trump Issues Threat to ‘Anyone Considering Doing Anything’ Before He’s Elected
“To anyone out there who is considering doing anything before I become president again, don’t even try it.”

If, at this point, you don’t believe that Trump means what he says, note that he has also said that if he does not get elected, “it’s going to be a bloodbath for the country. That will be the least of it.” On this subject it may be one of the few times that you can take Trump at his word.

Justice Sotomayor’s Blistering Dissent to the Supreme Court’s Gift of Immunity to King Trump

After an interminable, deliberate, and unwarranted delay, the MAGA majority on the Supreme Court has finally ruled that convicted felon Donald Trump has some measure of immunity for so-called “official” conduct as president. It was a 6-3 ruling on predictably ideological lines.

What this means in practice is that the president is now unbound by the rule of law and may commit crimes at will with little to no consequences. In other words, what was once the office of the presidency is now the throne of a king. The court did not so much decide on immunity as impunity. And they did so with an election coming up that could return a recidivist criminal (Trump) to office.

The majority opinion delivered to Trump almost everything that he hoped for. And he thanked them in a series of posts on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social.

However, Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote a dissent that not only shredded the brazenly biased opinion written by Chief Justice John Roberts, it also sounded the alarm for the imminent danger that the nation faces in the event of the election of a president who takes advantage of the new totalitarian license provided by a court whose own members (Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito) are themselves legally and/or ethically tainted. Sotomayor wrote (with emphasis added) that…

“Today’s decision to grant former Presidents criminal immunity reshapes the institution of the Presidency. It makes a mockery of the principle, foundational to our Constitution and system of Government, that no man is above the law. Relying on little more than its own misguided wisdom about the need for ‘bold and unhesitating action’ by the President, the Court gives former President Trump all the immunity he asked for and more.” […]

“The President of the United States is the most powerful person in the country, and possibly the world. When he uses his official powers in any way, under the majority’s reasoning, he now will be insulated from criminal prosecution. Orders the Navy’s Seal Team 6 to assassinate a political rival? Immune. Organizes a military coup to hold onto power? Immune. Takes a bribe in exchange for a pardon? Immune. Immune, immune, immune.

“Let the President violate the law, let him exploit the trappings of his office for personal gain, let him use his official power for evil ends. Because if he knew that he may one day face liability for breaking the law, he might not be as bold and fearless as we would like him to be. That is the majority’s message today.

“Even if these nightmare scenarios never play out, and I pray they never do, the damage has been done. The relationship between the President and the people he serves has shifted irrevocably. In every use of official power, the President is now a king above the law.”

So what now? First and foremost, Trump must be soundly defeated in November. If reelected he has promised to exact “retribution” on his political foes. That means anyone who is less than unflinchingly loyal to him among members of Congress, judges and prosecutors, state officials, business leaders, private citizens, and journalists and media organizations.

Secondly, Congress must act to undo the atrocity that the Supreme Court has imposed. They must pass laws that explicitly hold the president accountable for crimes that he commits. They must reform the Supreme Court by adding new members, placing term limits on them, and enacting a code of ethics with real consequences for violators.

Finally, they should proceed to impeach Trump for the third time. That’s right. There is nothing that prohibits an impeachment for a former president. And if successful in the House, it can proceed to the Senate, giving them another opportunity to convict Trump and forbid him from holding any federal office. That would at least provide some protection from this particular criminal from becoming president again and committing more crimes under the Court’s now rules.

Convicted Felon Donald Trump has been documented to have told more than 30,000 lies during his occupation of the White House, and for the years that have followed. Many of those lies involved beliefs that are demonstrably untrue, such his claim that everybody, including liberals, wanted Roe v Wade reversed; his insistence that China paid billions in tariffs; his assertion that Democrats favor abortion after birth; his “Big Lie” that he won the 2020 presidential election; and too many more to enumerate.

On Sunday morning, Trump’s daughter-in-lawlessness, Lara Trump, who he installed as co-chair of the Republican National Committee, visited with the Fox News Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo. Part of their televised mutual admiration group therapy session included Lara revealing another one of Trump’s delusions of grandeur…

“You also heard whenever [Trump] was in Virginia at that campaign rally, him say ‘to anyone out there who is considering doing anything before I become president again, don’t even try it.’ The fact you have Donald Trump is leading the country right now when he is not officially yet back in the White House speaks volumes to the American people and, I think, to the rest of the world.”

That statement does, indeed, speak volumes. But not in the way that Lara thinks. It speaks to Trump’s delusional perception of himself as still possessing the powers of the presidency. It speaks to his authoritarian aspirations to wield that imaginary power with impotent threats that he has no ability to carry out. It speaks to his anti-American tendencies to obstruct any progress on behalf of the people unless it is overseen and sanctioned by him.

What’s more, Lara is actually advocating that Trump add to the list of felonies he is already guilty of. In saying that “He is leading despite the fact that Joe Biden is technically the President,” Lara is confessing that Trump is violating federal law (the Logan Act) that prohibits “negotiation by unauthorized American citizens with foreign governments.”

Trump himself has confessed these illegal acts in comments wherein he implied that he can personally arrange negotiated solutions with Vladimir Putin to problems with Russia, such as the war in Ukraine and the incarceration of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich. Trump has said that those problems would be resolved after the election, but only if he is the winner. So he’s virtually conspiring with Putin to hold U.S. objectives hostage and to obstruct resolutions unless his demands to reoccupy the White House are satisfied.

Lara’s comments not only expose the unlawfulness that is inherent in the Trump family, they reveal a toxic strain anti-Americanism that has infected the whole of the MAGA cult. They support Trump’s criminality, just as they have supported it when he was convicted of 34 felonies in Manhattan; and when he was found liable for $454 million for financial fraud; and when he was adjudicated as a rapist and ordered to pay $88 million to his victim. Not to mention the fraud he engaged in with his phony university and charitable foundation.

To describe Trump’s activities as akin to a crime syndicate would be unquestionably accurate. It would also be monstrously disturbing due to the fact that he is the chosen candidate of the Republican Party for president. And it doesn’t help matters to know that Fox News continues to buttress the depraved corruption of both the Trump family and the MAGA GOP.

Trump Whines that the Media Didn’t Praise Him Enough After His Lie-Riddled Debate with Biden

The first presidential debate of 2024 is now history – in more ways ways than one. It is the first ever presidential debate where one of the candidates – Donald Trump – was a convicted felon, with 54 more felony charges pending, and was ordered to pay $454 million for financial fraud, and who incited a violent coup, and was adjudicated as a rapist.

Those uniquely distinguishing characteristics of Trump, however, were not the only things that guaranteed the CNN debate with President Biden a place in the history books. It was also a debate wherein Trump likely set a new world record for telling the most lies in a 90 minute slice of political television. And the record he beat was probably his own.

In the days following the debate, the media has decided to place their focus on what many of their pundits are describing as the substandard performance of Biden. Ordinarily, when the press is criticizing your opponent, most politicians would be satisfied to let that criticism go on without interruption. But Trump is most certainly not “most politicians.”

Consequently, Trump is complaining about the bad press that Biden is suffering. Not because he thinks it is unwarranted. But because it is deflecting media attention from himself. And there is no greater offense one can commit against Trump than to fail to be thoroughly engrossed with his every word and deed at all times. He is the most sickly, egotistical, manifestation of Glenn Close’s character in the movie “Fatal Attraction,” who declared that “I will not be ignored.”

On Saturday morning Trump took to his floundering Social media scam, Truth Social, to lash out the press for failing to obsess over him. He wrote that…

“As I walked off the stage on Thursday night, at the end of the highly anticipated ‘Debate,’ anchors, political reporters and all screamed that I had had the greatest debate performance in the long and storied history of Presidential Debates. They all said, effectively, ‘Trump was fantastic!’ This theme was universal, even at CNN & MSDNC, but by Friday evening it was all about the poor performance of Crooked Joe, and not so much about how well I did. Oh well, that’s the way it is but, importantly, the result is the same!!!”

There is so much wrong with that puerile outburst that it requires a deeper dive into its derangement. Beginning with Trump’s utterly delusional assertion that all of the anchors and political reporters “screamed that I had had the greatest debate performance” in history. He was probably right about the screaming, but not for the reasons he suggests. And they surely didn’t regard his litany of flagrant lies as “fantastic.”

What’s more, how would Trump know what CNN and MSNBC – two networks that he insists he would never watch – were saying about Biden’s debate performance? If he had watched them he would have seen them talking about both Biden’s shortcomings and his own brazen and shameless dishonesty.

However, Trump makes it clear that his biggest problem with the press coverage of the debate was that it was “not so much about how well I did.” One explanation for that might be that he didn’t do what any rational person would describe as “well.”

More to the point, Trump is exhibiting his flaming narcissism by squealing about the press failing to devote all of their attention to him, even at the expense of their determination to bash Biden. Meanwhile Biden, while not delivering his best performance, was at least honest and, unlike Trump, stuck to the facts in his responses that actually related to the questions he was asked.

It is illustrative of the bizarre nature of our times that a candidate who appeared somewhat slow and detached during one debate is being urged to drop out of the race, but not the candidate who has been convicted of 34 felonies, surrounds himself with fellow felons, lies pathologically, exudes hostility and racism, and was affirmed by a judge to be a rapist. When these pundits start to call for Trump to drop out, we can start to take them seriously.

FTR: Felonious Trump Gave 3 Times as Many False Statements as President Biden in the CNN Debate

Lets get this out of the way… President Biden had a bad night, and it was a serious missed opportunity. That said, Donald Trump is still a convicted felon, a rapist, a bigot, a flaming idiot, and an aspiring authoritarian who is an imminent threat to democracy. And, as emphatically demonstrated in last night’s debate, Trump is a also pathological liar.

Trump Lies

So after the CNN debate, the choice for president remains one between an honorable, intelligent, elderly man with a poor memory who stutters, or a psychotically hostile wannabe dictator with the morals of an alley cat. That shouldn’t be a difficult choice for most Americans. And the coming days will affirm Trump’s unfitness for office as he is sentenced for the 34 felonies he was recently found guilty of, followed by the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a city he regards as “horrible.”

There are factions within the Democratic Party that are panicking and now believe that Biden should step aside. Meanwhile, Republicans are ecstatic about Trump flooding the zone with flagrant falsehoods. Something is very wrong with American politics if Democrats will panic when Biden stutters a bit, but Republicans will celebrate when Trump lies constantly.

CNN made the astonishingly irresponsible decision to refrain from fact-checking during the debate. That played into Trump’s hands, allowing him to lie incessantly for 90 minutes without consequence. After the debate, CNN got around to fact checking, and the results, while predictable, couldn’t be worse for Trump. They found that Trump lied at least 28 times – about once every three minutes. Which means that virtually every response he gave contained a lie. Biden, on the other hand, was found to have made only nine disputable comments.

The difference between the character of the falsehoods was also notable. Trump’s were serious misstatements of irrefutable and consequential facts. However, Biden’s contained some items that clearly didn’t belong on a list of false statements. For instance…

  • CNN disputed Biden’s claim that Trump wants to get rid of Social Security. But Trump has said that he would make cuts to the program that he falsely claims is an entitlement.
  • CNN disputed Biden’s claim regarding Trump’s proposal to inject bleach as a cure of COVID. But Trump did make such a suggestion, just using the word “disinfectant,” rather than “bleach.”
  • CNN disputed Biden’s claim that billionaires pay 8.2% in taxes. Which is true if you factor in their unrealized investment income. And often they pay less, or even zero.

The list of Trump’s lies, however, was far longer and more substantive, including…

  • Trump’s lie that “everybody” wanted Roe v. Wade overturned, including Democrats.
  • Trump’s lie that Democrats support killing babies “after birth.”
  • Trump’s denial that he had called fallen soldiers “suckers” and “losers.”
  • Trump’s claim that his 10% tariff on all imported goods would not raise prices on Americans.
  • Trump’s lie that Biden and his Justice Department were behind his four indictments.
  • Trump’s relentless repetition of his “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was “rigged” and “stolen.”
  • Trump’s attempts to blame former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for the January 6th insurrection.
  • Trump’s taking credit for the Veterans Choice health care law that was signed by Obama.
  • And 20 more lies…

The disappointment over the performance of Biden during the first debate will dissipate in a matter of days. And Biden will have more opportunities to demonstrate his wisdom and compassion. But the lies that are continuously being disgorged by Trump will persist in the minds of voters who actually care about the welfare of the nation. And on November 5th they will reject him, just as they did four years ago.

Trump’s Refuttle to Biden Calling Him a Threat to Democracy: ‘I Know You Are, But What Am I?’

The first presidential debate of 2024 is just hours away. And the candidates are preparing for it in their own unique ways: Biden by studying the issues and polishing his message. And Trump by studying his cult rally rants and giving interviews to Fox News and other MAGA media.

True to form, Trump doesn’t believe that he needs any preparation because, in his warped and ego bloated mind, he is the greatest orator that ever lived and can beat “Sleepy Joe” with his eyes closed. Which is how he thought he would beat the 34 felony charges he was convicted of in New York where he was caught repeatedly falling asleep. That obviously didn’t work. So now Trump is embarking on a full-scale refuttle with the tired PR tactic of trying to coerce the debate moderators to swing his way…

Furthermore, after spending years viciously and falsely maligning Biden as a walking corpse who “can’t put two sentences together,” Trump is now afraid that “Jacked Up Joe” will slaughter him with the help of performance enhancing drugs to supercharge his debating skills. Never mind that such drugs don’t exist and, if they did, why wouldn’t everyone be using them? Including Trump. (Perhaps he is).

Consequently, the Trump campaign team has settled on a strategy that they are confidant will lead to victory in November. It’s a simple strategy that is often employed by elementary school bullies who have no intellectual recourse when confronted by substantive criticism. It’s the old “I Know You Are, But What Am I?” gambit. And Trump himself trotted it out on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, the morning of the big debate raging in all caps that…

“JOE BIDEN IS A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY, AND A THREAT TO THE SURVIVAL AND EXISTENCE OF OUR COUNTRY ITSELF!!!”

Sound familiar? That’s because it is what President Biden and every patriotic Democratic politician and pundit have been saying about Trump for months. It’s a visceral warning of an imminent threat that is supported by Trump’s own words and actions. In fact, it has not been just Democrats issuing this warning. It has also been delivered by dozens of the people who know him best: His own staffers and former officials in his administration…

That is just the tip of the iceberg. Just a few of the Trump associates who have sounded the alarm include his former Chief of Staff (John Kelly), Secretary of State (Rex Tillerson), Secretary of Defense (Mark Esper), Attorney General (Bill Barr), National Security Advisor (John Bolton), U.N. Ambassador (Nikki Haley), Communications Director (Alyssa Farah Griffin), and many more.

Trump’s “rubber v glue” ploy has been in effect on a variety of policy issues. Whenever he is criticized on matters related to jobs, the economy, Social Security, immigration, etc., he immediately mirrors the attack, swatting it back to Biden with no factual basis whatsoever. He does the same thing with matters of character. Despite being notorious for lying, criminality, and cognitive decline, Trump tries flutily to paste those personality defects onto Biden.

This isn’t a new strategy either. Recall in 2016 when Trump regurgitated Hillary Clinton’s charge that he was “puppet” of Vladimir Putin, and his pitiful reply was “No puppet. You’re the puppet.” What a comeback!

Trump is so devoid of any shred of intelligence that he can’t even come up with an original criticism of Biden. He merely attempts to bounce his own flaws back to the President, who clearly has none of the problems that plague Trump. It’s a rather pathetic display of ignorance and impotence. But neither Trump nor his team have any other options. So look for more of that feeble framing in the debate, and the campaign going forward.
