Fox News Embraces Trump Shill’s Dangerously Seditious Election Challenge

The bizarre and unpatriotic aspirations of Donald Trump, and his recasting of the already radically rightist Republican Party, continue to diverge ever further from the Constitution, and more ominously from sanity. That’s to be expected from Trump, whose tenuous grasp on reality has long been a major cause of concern. But the GOP’s willingness – and weakness – to march along in his goose-stepping spectacle raises the stakes considerably.

Jeanine Pirro Fox News

Republicans in Congress are positioning themselves for a historic battle pitting democracy against authoritarianism. And the authoritarian side is being represented by such GOP “leaders” as Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley. They are supported by ten other Senate traitors, more than a hundred colleagues in the House republican caucus, and even out-going Vice-President, Mike Pence. Their futile plot is set to be implemented on January 6, the day that Joe Biden’s election will be certified by Congress:

“A group of Republicans has announced plans to reject electors from states they consider disputed if Congress doesn’t create a commission to investigate their claims of fraud. The effort, fueled by baseless allegations of voter fraud, drew support from Vice President Pence by Saturday night.” […]

“The statement calls for the creation of an electoral commission ‘with full investigatory and fact-finding authority, to conduct an emergency 10-day audit of the election returns in the disputed state.'”

For the record, the Congress has no authority whatsoever to create an investigatory “commission,” nor to impose a ten day audit of election returns. The session on January 6 is a ceremonial duty that merely affirms the election results already certified by all fifty states. The effort by these Republican extremists aims to challenge “disputed” electoral slates that do not exist. And they can’t succeed without both houses of Congress voting for their treachery. Of course, the Democratic-majority in the House is unlikely to play along with that.

Cue Fox News and their Senior Trump-fluffer, “Judge” Jeanine Pirro. She hosted Trump’s trade advisor, Peter Navarro, who has no expertise in constitutional law. And Navarro, as he is wont to do, went skidding perilously off the rails. He began by asserting that “the Democrat (sp) Party, as a matter of strategy, stole this election from Donald J. Trump.” And that led into this hideous exchange:

Navarro: They stole this. We can prove it. And other things… Breaking news: I would not be surprised to see a special counsel on this. And Vice-President Pence, he has the authority to give that ten day window to do what needs to get done, and I cannot imagine when you look at the facts he won’t vote the right way on that.
Pirro: And you know Peter, the interesting thing is that ten day window, it is something that they can change the date. January 20th cannot be changed. That’s constitutional. But this whole certification, the date can be changed.
Navarro: Well it can be changed actually. We can go past that date. We can go past that date. We can go past that date if we need to.
Pirro: Oh.

“Oh”? That’s a cute response by Pirro, an alleged judge, to a Trump administration official proposing a blatantly unconstitutional act. The 20th Amendment to the Constitution plainly states that “The terms of the President and Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January [….] and the terms of their successors shall then begin.” That is not negotiable, nor subject to the legal shenanigans of anti-democratic authoritarians like Navarro and Pirro.

On Sunday morning Trump retweeted a random crackpot Internet troll agreeing with Navarro’s preposterous misreading of the Constitution. He also retweeted the screwball attorney, Sidney Powell, saying that “This ‘election’ was stolen from the voters in a massive fraud.” Never mind that she has never presented evidence of that in court, or that Trump’s own lawyers (Rudy Giuliani et al) threw her off their team for being even too deranged for them.

What’s more, both the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal, Fox News sister newspapers also owned by Rupert Murdoch, have also come out in opposition to Trump, Navarro, Pirro, and the rest of the Fox News deceivers. The Post published a headline story exhorting Trump to Stop the Insanity and to “Give it up, Mr. President — for your sake and the nation’s.” The Journal’s Editorial Board went on record saying that…

“President Trump’s last and worst shot at overturning the 2020 election will come on Jan. 6, as the new Congress meets in joint session to tally the votes from the Electoral College. Mr. Trump wants Republican lawmakers to lodge formal objections to Joe Biden’s electors, and this kamikaze mission already has a few volunteers.” […]

“Any challenge to Mr. Biden’s electors appears doomed, since upholding the objection takes a majority in both chambers. The Democratic House would use the opportunity to excoriate Mr. Trump a final time on his way out the door, and grown-ups in the Republican Senate are unlikely to play along.”

And with that Fox News stands alone in their overly zealous, slobbering support for the failed president who is already halfway out the White House’s backdoor. Well, almost alone. Trump still has Newsmax, OANN, and the rapidly dwindling phalanx of cult disciples who still haven’t gotten to the acceptance stage of their political death.

America Welcomes 2021 as Trump is Taken Out with the Trash of 2020

Fifteen minutes before midnight on December 31, 2020, Donald Trump tweeted a couple of utterly delusional video clips from his new favorite media bootlickers (and most grossly misnamed TV channel ever), the One America News Network (OANN). The clips slobbered all over Trump’s imaginary achievements and continued to argue that, contrary to reality, he won the presidential election by a landslide.

Donald Trump, New Year, Joe Biden

That’s how Trump chose to usher in 2021. Not with a message of condolences for those who have suffered due to his negligence, incompetence, and deliberate malfeasance. Not with any wishes of hope for the future. But with self-serving homages to his narcissism and the patently insane notion that he will be serving another four years.

Trump may be serving some years going forward, but in not in the White House. He will be facing numerous indictments for criminal acts committed both before and after his unfortunate presidency.

However, it remains to be seen what vocation Trump will decide to pursue as he returns to civilian life. Heaven knows he isn’t qualified for anything but egomaniacal demagoguery. He failed at real estate with properties that routinely lose money. He failed at business with at least six bankruptcies. He failed at entertainment with a reality TV game show that suffered deep declines in the ratings. He failed tragically by mishandling (and lying about) the coronavirus pandemic. And his whining about nonexistent election fraud has failed so badly that he is resorting to incitements of violence.

Rumors abound that Trump may be interested in developing a media company or launching a show on an existing network. But his opportunities in that arena are critically limited. To begin with, who could watch him every day without suffering a severe brain hemorrhage? And while the OANN and Newsmax would likely welcome Trump, they have puny audiences that ultimately would fail to satisfy his ravenous ego.

That would leave Fox News. It’s the network that thrust him into into the mainstream and was most responsible for his election in 2016. Clearly they didn’t have the same clout to repeat that atrocity in 2020. That’s partly because more Americans actually know him and how dangerous and ignorant he is. But Trump will have another problem with any aspirations to be a Fox News personality: He has spent much of the past year viciously attacking the network. For instance:

That isn’t likely to endear the network brass to a former president with no power. All that Trump has to promote himself is an abundance of infantile hostilities, blinding paranoia, inherent weakness, and intellectually vacant ideas that predominantly revolve around his own misplaced and undeserved vanity.

Trump does have one other asset he can exploit. That’s the devotion of his glassy-eyed cult followers who actually trust him more than than they trust their their own religious leaders. But that sort of reverence is notoriously thin and short-lived. It is bound a by watery glue that is based on fleeting self-interest and the perceived power of the cult leader.

Without his presidential perch, Trump is just a relentless whiner, albeit “the most fabulous” one (in his own words). He is grifter who adores himself but believes everyone else is out to get him. He is a fading reality TV sham who relied on celebrity. When that is gone, so is the loyalty of the cult. And without that, Trump is toast. Which means that the hysterical video below is likely an honest representation of Trump’s dismal future. Happy New Year everybody!

IT’S A CULT! Poll Shows Republicans Trust Trump More Than Their Own Pastor

To those Americans who have not been indoctrinated into the Cult of Donald Trump, His appeal is bewildering. He is neither handsome nor intelligent. He speaks at a third grade level. And his emotional response to criticism is even lower. When he isn’t whining petulantly (a sign of weakness), he’s inciting violence. And he has a mortal fear of facts, as demonstrated by his award winning litany of lies.

Donald Trump Messiah

That said, Trump’s feeble-minded cult devotees are thoroughly engulfed in his bizarre babblings. They have bought his wild assertions that he won the presidential election by a landslide, despite the absence of even a shred of evidence. His having lost nearly sixty lawsuits – many before Republican-appointed judges – doesn’t diminish their glassy-eyed reverence for Dear Leader. They are totally on board with his downplaying of the Coronavirus pandemic, even after the deaths of more than 330,000 of their fellow citizens, and over two million infected. They believe his every boast of abilities superior to those of recognized experts in the military, medicine, economics, and whatever else happens to wander through his sickly thoughts.

A new poll by NPR/Ipsos reaffirms what many have already acknowledged are cult-like attitudes that permeate Trump’s superfan base. The poll found that “A significant number of Americans believe misinformation […] as well as conspiracy theories like QAnon”:

“Forty percent of respondents said they believe the coronavirus was made in a lab in China even though there is no evidence for this. […]

“And one-third of Americans believe that voter fraud helped Joe Biden win the 2020 election, despite the fact that courts, election officials and the Justice Department have found no evidence of widespread fraud that could have changed the outcome.”

The poll broke down some of the responses by political affiliation. Not surprisingly, Republicans most often were the ones that swallowed the nonsense conspiracy theories. A majority (53%) are opposed to “a smooth transition of power to the Biden administration.” That’s probably because most of them (71%) also believe that “There is a deep state working to undermine President Trump.”

However, when respondents were asked about who in public life they considered most trustworthy, the Republicans revealed just how deeply immersed in the crackpot swamp they really are. Naturally they don’t trust Joe Biden, or Dr. Anthony Fauci, or Rachel Maddow. But the poll shows that they trust Trump (76%) more than they trust their own religious leaders (72%).

The first rule of any cult is that only the Leader is telling you the truth. Everyone else is lying to you and means you harm. That rule has been absorbed by the Trump cultists. That mindset was especially prominent among those who “were Republicans and if they got their news from Fox News or conservative online outlets like Breitbart or the Daily Caller.” Fox News was this year’s recipient of the Misinformer of the Year award from Media Matters. However, Trump himself has had a love/hate relationship with the network for most of the year. Most recently he was nursing some imagined offense when he tweeted that…

It’s likely that Trump was watching Fox News when this video of Democratic Senate candidate Jon Ossoff aired. Ossoff was questioned by Fox’s Peter Doocy when he launched a blistering attack on Republican incumbents Kelly Loeffler and David Purdue:

That would have been more than enough to set Trump off. And when Trump is mad at Fox News his followers are going to hear about it. The result is that they are abandoning Fox in droves. Ever since election day, CNN has been regularly beating Fox News in the ratings. Consequently, we are witnessing the irony of right-wing Trump supporters boycotting the network that is actually fueling their political agenda. It’s a glorious spectacle that progressive hope will continue well into the new year.

Trump Shill McEnany Visits Fox News to Drop Another Flagrant Election Fraud Lie

Next week the Electoral College will certify that Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election. But even as this date approaches, and the outcome is unquestionably certain, Donald Trump continues to babble incoherently that he was the winner “by a landslide.” It’s position that just gets more pathetic every day as Trump affirms his departure from reality and psychotic deterioration. Unfortunately, he’s also veering closing to open advocacy of violence.

Kayleigh McEnany, Donald Trump

However, it isn’t just Trump who is suffering from this deeply delusional defect. It has spread like an epidemic throughout Trump World. His dimwitted cult disciples are fully indoctrinated into believing that a cabal of thousands of coup conspirators have “stolen” the election without leaving behind a single shred of evidence. And Trump’s remaining dead-ender confederates in the White House persist in propagating a victory that exists only in his diseased mind.

Chief among those stubborn Trumpians is his combination press secretary and campaign mouthpiece, Kayleigh McEnany. She spent some quality time Monday night with Senior Fox News Trump-fluffer Sean Hannity where she tried to pass off a provable lie about alleged voting irregularities:

“This happened in the places where it needed to happen. Which is why the four metros, the only four where Joe Biden outperformed Hillary Clinton, were Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Atlanta, and Detroit. The four he needed in the four key states.”

McEnany’s disinformation appears to have been cribbed from a tweet by the ultra right-wing pollster, Rasmussen. Their tweet linked to an article by the notorious Internet conspiracy crackpot, Gateway Pundit, who sourced his info to the website Townhall. Of course, the article was utterly fictional. Even Townhall later disclaimed their own post. But the presence of blatant falsehoods have never stopped McEnany, or Hannity, before. CNN’s Jake Tapper put it succinctly this weekend when he described his standards for booking Trump administration guests:

“There are some people that are just so mendacious I just wouldn’t put them on air. Kayleigh McEnany, I’ve never booked her. Jason Miller from the Trump campaign, I would never book him. These are just people, they just tell lies the way that most people breathe. There was no value in that. […] This is what she does. She tells lies all the time. She can’t acknowledge reality.”

For the record, USA Today conducted a study of “the country’s 10 largest cities — or the counties in which they’re located, if data by city was not available — plus Detroit, Milwaukee and Fulton County, where Atlanta is located.” It found that Biden actually did outperform Clinton in 10 of those 13 locations:

  • Chicago by 19,613 votes
  • Philadelphia by 20,150 votes
  • Milwaukee by 6,004 votes
  • Houston by 210,279 votes
  • San Antonio by 128,902 votes
  • San Diego by 226,849 votes
  • Dallas by 137,496 votes
  • San Jose by 103,574 votes
  • Phoenix by 337,867 votes
  • Atlanta by 84,093 votes

As further evidence of how far off McEnany et al are, Biden actually appears to have underperformed Clinton in Detroit. Another study conducted by the conservative National Review confirmed USA Today’s study. They found that “Biden improved his margin of victory compared to Clinton in 31 of 36 urban counties.” They also found that “There’s no evidence that swing states had more than 100% voter turnout.”

McEnany’s penchant for poisoning her diatribes with untruths is well known. She began doing it on day one of her employment as Trump’s press secretary, ably filling the deceitful shoes of Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Following Tapper’s public rebuke, McEnany spitefully turned to Twitter to hysterically claim that she doesn’t lie. Which is just another lie in her ample supply of prevarication.

But if McEnany is really so offended by people accurately pointing out her aversion to truth telling, she just might want to take this advice…

Fox News Trump-Fluffer Geraldo: Trump ‘Has Behaved Like an Entitled Frat Boy’

It’s official! Donald Trump and his Republican confederates don’t give a damn about the American people. That was obvious long ago, but now we can declare it officially. Today unemployment benefits ran out for about fourteen million people. In a few days the moratorium on evictions will expire. The government could get shut down around the same time. And the coronavirus relief funding contained in an omnibus appropriations bill that a bipartisan Congress voted for are still sitting on Trump’s desk at Mar-a-Lago without his signature as families are suffering.

Be sure to visit and follow News Corpse on Instagram.

Donald Trump, Subway

Meanwhile, Trump is golfing at his Palm Beach resort and Mike Pence is skiing in Vail, Colorado. Trump managed to squeeze out a couple tweets on Saturday impotently demanding that the “politicians” in Washington increase the relief funds from $600.00 to 2,000.00. For the record, it’s the Republicans who are blocking that. Democrats long ago advocated for more money. But Trump refuses to put any pressure on his GOP comrades, or even say aloud that they are the obstacles.

Aside from his scant mentions of the coronavirus and its devastating impact on the nation, Trump has been furiously tweeting about his delusional belief that he won the presidential election. Never mind that he has lost more than sixty lawsuits on the matter for lack of evidence. He continues to pursue this figment of his diseased imagination in ever more ominous tones that suggest a call for violence.

That position is still supported by most of his bootlicking sycophants in Congress and on Fox News. However, one of the sheep seems to have briefly strayed from the flock. On Sunday morning Geraldo Rivera tweeted that…

No one should praise Geraldo for this faint-hearted blather. To begin with, he is proudly restating his four year idolatry of America’s first reality TV game show host president. That’s an achievement that proves (and forever tarnishes) the old adage that, in America, “anyone” can become president. Geraldo goes on to malign Democrats and other progressives, who comprise the majority of the populace, as “creeps.” And he dismisses the fully documented Russian interference in the 2016 election about which Trump was aware and approving. He was impeached for trying to cover it up and obstructing justice.

However, the most preposterous assertion in Geraldo’s twantrum was his admission that, since the election, Trump “has behaved like an entitled frat boy.” The description of Trump’s all-consuming narcissism itself isn’t the problem. That’s a diagnosis that many psychiatric professionals made before the 2020 election, and even before the one in 2016. Although they do concur that he’s getting worse.

The bigger problem is Geraldo’s assertion that this behavioral trait only recently surfaced following Trump’s humiliating loss to Joe Biden, a candidate he maligned as a “sleepy” socialist who is mentally unfit to serve. The American people felt differently, with most saying that Trump is the mental deficient.

Geraldo must have been in a coma for the past four years. Trump’s behavior for the entirety of his single term in office could not have been more childish. With every failure he presided over, he whined petulantly, blamed others for his incompetence, and bragged about imaginary achievements. His campaign promises were routinely broken. Regarding his former opponent Hillary Clinton, he didn’t “lock her up!” To the contrary, he released (pardoned) a flock of felons, war criminals, and accomplices. The wall he didn’t build wasn’t paid for by Mexico. He didn’t repeal or replace Obamacare. He didn’t even offer the healthcare plan that he promised in two weeks for years. He didn’t bring manufacturing back to the U.S. He didn’t grow the economy. He didn’t create jobs. He didn’t, to put it succinctly, do sh!t!

The only “successes” Trump could plausibly lay claim to were the tax scam that benefitted the rich, and the ultra-rightist and unqualified judicial appointments. However, not only is it a stretch to call those successes, but they were wholly engineered by GOP Senate Leader Mitch McConnell with no input whatsoever from Trump. And that’s precisely the path that he’s on today with the failed coronavirus relief legislation. He played no role in it’s drafting, nor its passage.

It’s just another failure to add to his list. But this is an especially repulsive one due to the tragic suffering and loss of life. Not that he cares. Nor does Geraldo. And Geraldo’s glassy-eyed devotion to Trump poisons anything he might say regarding him. He failed to see Trump’s infantile behavior as a problem four years ago, so it hardly matters that he’s seeing it now.

Trump’s Year of Vicious Bashing – and Devoted Sucking Up To – Fox News in 2020

Let’s face it … trying to unravel the acute psychoses of Donald Trump is an exercise in futility. It’s like trying to explain why pigs prefer poetry to pedicures. Seriously, don’t bother. And it’s particularly evident in his long-running love/hate relationship with Fox News, the propaganda machine that put him in the White House.

Donald Trump Fox News

For the past year, Trump has lashed out furiously at Fox News for a myriad of perceived offenses. He vilified their pollsters as agents of “suppression.” He castigated their producers for having the gall to book Democrats for predominantly disparaging interviews. He lumped Fox in with “fake” news disseminators like CNN and the New York Times. He whined petulantly any time a Fox shill failed to exhibit unqualified adoration or presented him in a less than worshipful fashion.

Naturally, Trump’s anger was often expressed on his favorite communications platform, Twitter, which he also loves to bash (see his incoherent tirades aimed at Section 230). An example of Trump’s fury at Fox was posted last week when he declared that “Fox News is dead”:

The notion that Fox News is somehow aligned with “Radical Left Democrats” is too absurd to even bother responding to. And it is typical of Trump to single out one of the few Black contributors on Fox for criticism. But can anyone figure out what he’s talking about when he complains about “unedited commercials”? However, that specimen of nonsense was just his latest outburst. Here is some of what Trump has been griping about throughout 2020:

So only Trump knows what has happened to Fox News? And he’s keeping secret? Despite that hail of hysterics, Trump still managed to lavish Fox News with love when it suited his purpose. In 2020 Trump tweeted about Fox 230 times. That’s about once every day and a half. Of those, 79 were shout-outs to Sean Hannity (20 of which announced his interviews). Another 81 tweets were aimed at Fox and Friends (of which 11 announced his interviews). Mark Levin got 67 flattering tweets. Lou Dobbs got 55. Maria Bartiromo got 39. Laura Ingraham got 27. Jeanine Pirro got 21. And Tucker Carlson trailed the pack with 17.

In addition to those praiseful mentions of Fox News flacks, Trump also lathered Fox’s competitors with compliments. The One America News Network (OANN) got 80 tweets. And Newsmax gathered 27.

You have to wonder what’s in it for Fox News. Why would they tolerate this sort of abuse from an obviously disturbed egomaniac that is headed for an epic flameout? Could it be that just the prospect of a temporary ratings boost would cause Fox to accept being Trump’s whipping boy? Are they so wrapped up in their mission to advance an ultra-conservative agenda that they’ll suffer Trump’s contempt? Does Fox News believe that they will recover from this assault after Trump is demoted to civilian rank?

Fox’s ratings have already taken a considerable hit since election day. Newsmax has been gaining viewers and CNN is regularly beating Fox. In fact, Fox is dangerously close to slipping to third place behind MSNBC. What’s more, Trump has been openly speculating about launching a cable network of his own. Given his track record for business ventures, that would probably just be his next bankruptcy. But it could also cause some further deterioration of Fox’s audience. So the question remains: Why is Fox News behaving like a battered spouse and submitting to this abuse? Are they just as brainwashed by the Cult of Trump as his dimwitted followers? Stay tuned!

Fox News Airs ‘Unbelievable’ Video of Georgia Senate Candidate Doing Nothing Wrong

It can be a painful spectacle to watch when desperation sets in. That’s been so true of Donald Trump and his pathetic crusade to overturn the will of the American people and proclaim himself President-for-Life. And it’s equally true of Fox News as they scramble to justify their raging right-wing bias amidst an avalanche of bad news for the flailing, lie-riddled, conservative agenda that is their mission to support.

Fox News Alert

The upcoming Senate runoff races in Georgia will determine whether Mitch McConnell remains the obstructionist GOP Senate majority leader. Incumbents David Purdue and Kelly Loeffler are shamelessly fawning Trump sycophants who will serve McConnell’s will. Their Democratic opponents, Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock are running close races that will hinge on voter turnout.

Consequently, Fox News is pulling out all the stops to malign the Democrats. However, they are obviously running low on material with which to attack them. And they even seem, at times, to be resigned to losing. On Tuesday’s episode of Tucker Carlson’s White Nationalist Hour he revealed what he thought was an explosive story that would doom Rev. Warnock to defeat. But try as he might, the story was a flaming dud. It’s weakness as both journalism and propaganda is evident in this exchange with Fox “News” correspondent Rick Leventhal:

Carlson: The race is two weeks from now on January 5th, so it’s a little late in the game to be getting this footage we’re about to show you, exclusively. This is footage of Raphael Warnock’s wife.
Leventhal: This is never before seen video, a Tucker Carlson Tonight exclusive. Georgia Democratic Senate candidate Raphael Warnock, accused by his now ex-wife Ouleye of running over her foot.

So Leventhal is reporting that Ouleye Warnock made her allegations during “a heated argument” last March. Which Carlson admits is too long ago to be bringing it up, but which he does anyway. More to the point, the video shows Rev. Warnock describing an incident wherein nothing actually happens. He asserts that she was faking her her alleged injury, and Leventhal’s follow up corroborates that with the facts that Rev. Warnock wasn’t charged, and that the hospital first responders who examined her found no evidence of any injury.

Nevertheless, Fox News continued the report with Ouleye’s obviously biased and disparaging comments about her estranged husband’s character. To which Carlson replies, “That video is unbelievable. That woman is believable.” It’s hard to imagine what Carlson finds so “unbelievable” about that video, other than that it is unbelievably insignificant. Although it’s interesting that Carlson is suddenly taking the allegations of an allegedly abused woman seriously. Too bad that it’s regarding an incident where the facts show that no abuse occurred.

Clearly Carlson and Fox News are only interested in the harm this video can do to Rev. Warnock and his campaign. There is no substance to the allegations or news value in the report. It’s simply a wild swing at a political foe, taken in the hopes of some negative residue sticking. And the video has been making the rounds of right-wing media, including Fox’s sister publication, the New York Post, as well as Glenn Beck’s The Blaze, One American News Network (OANN), and the Daily Caller, which Carlson founded.

If they had any relevant dirt with which to smear Rev. Warnock or Jon Ossoff, they surely would be using it. So this is, in effect, an admission that they have no honest criticisms at all. They’re just throwing mud at the wall, and what’s really sad, is that they aren’t even hitting the wall.

Trump Shill on Fox News Concedes that Republicans Will Lose Georgia and the Senate

It’s been seven weeks since Donald Trump was humiliated by becoming the first reality TV game show host to lose reelection as president to a “sleepy” opponent who commanded an army of thousands running a “rigged” election. And Trump continues to whine daily that he was “robbed,” while posting laughably phony “evidence” of fraud that he declined to present in any of the nearly sixty lawsuits he’s lost.

Fox News Sad

On Monday morning Fox News Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, invited Trump’s alleged trade advisor, Peter Navarro, on her show to discuss allegedly corrupt election systems, a subject that Navarro has zero expertise in (video below). The resulting conversation was predictably preposterous as Navarro dodged and weaved to make points that were either incoherent or contrary to his own narrative. For example…

Bartiromo: Do you believe that this was organized in big cities by somebody in Washington?
Navarro: So there’s a couple of things to unpack here. First of all, one of the findings in our report is that there’s no silver bullet. There’s no single thing that did it. Death by a thousand cuts. Death by these six dimensions of election irregularities.

And finally getting to the answer to Bartiromo’s leading question…

Navarro: Yes. It was coordinated in the Democratic Party with respect to things like relaxing rules in Georgia with that consent decree, or going into Pennsylvania and having them change guides, or going into Wisconsin and having them change the definition of involuntarily confined voters. Brass knuckle stuff. And this all should have been fought out in the legal process cause it’s clearly breaking the law.

But despite not identifying any law that was broken, or supplying any evidence of illegality…

Navarro: So yes, it was coordinated just like a page out of Lee Atwater’s book. It’s like “get it done, stuff the ballot box, by any means necessary.” And we need that investigated because we can’t go forward and have for … I strongly believe that that election in Georgia needs to be postponed till February, till we sort that out. Georgia, of the six states I looked at, is a cesspool, a cesspool of these election irregularities. And if the people in Georgia and this country can’t have confidence in their elections, and we wind wind up with these irregularities putting in two Democrat (sp) senators … Elections have consequences. We all know what’s gonna happen after that.

No, we don’t all “know what’s gonna happen.” What exactly is Navarro implying? For the record, Atwater was a Republican dirty trickster who repented for his vicious brand of politics on his deathbed. More to the point, Navarro is virtually conceding that Republicans Kelly Loeffler and David Purdue are bound for defeat by their Democratic challengers, Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff. Navarro certainly wouldn’t want to postpone an election if he thought his side was winning. What’s more, Navarro’s characterization of Georgia – a state with a GOP governor and Secretary of State managing the election – as a “cesspool” is only going to dissuade more Republicans from voting at all in the January 5th Senate runoff.

Navarro went on to advocate for a “a special counsel that we put in place before inauguradation (sp) day to get to the bottom of this.” He also said that he wanted “to seize a lot of these voting machines.” Even Fox News is walking back their preposterous allegations of election fraud, although they are doing so under threat of a lawsuit by the companies they’ve been slandering for the past few weeks.

And never mind that the election in Georgia has already been certified by the Republicans in charge and can’t be changed. Navarro is totally on board with Trump’s delusional notion that he can orchestrate a coup and retain power indefinitely. It’s becoming downright pathetic as Trump and his minions cling to ever more ludicrous threads of conspiracy theories and the ravings of crackpot Internet trolls. You really have to wonder if there is any bottom that these losers will sink to.

Fox News Debunks Itself In Fear Of Defamation Lawsuit Over Election Fraud Lies

Anyone who has watched more than a few minutes of Fox News knows that they are a reliable source of flagrant lies, malicious slander, and brazenly biased right-wing propaganda. But for a network that has been shamelessly disseminating dangerous disinformation for years, Fox News has just exhibited a bit of uncharacteristic regret.

Fox News, Titanic

Smartmatic is a voting software company that Fox has had in their crosshairs ever since Donald Trump suffered his decisive and humiliating loss to Joe Biden. The network aired numerous segments that accused Smartmatic of deliberately sabotaging their products in order to fraudulently deliver an election victory to Biden. The conspiracy theories that Trump and his incompetent attorneys constructed were bizarre and far removed from reality. But that didn’t stop Fox News from promoting them on Trump’s behalf.

Last week Smartmatic sent Fox News a “cease and desist” letter demanding that they retract the false and defamatory “election fraud” stories under threat of legal action. Shortly thereafter, Fox started airing a peculiar interview debunking the conspiracy theories that have been featured by some of their top hosts. It’s clear that Fox News is concerned about the potential lawsuit, so they manufactured this segment in order to divert attention from their lies, pretend they reported accurately, and thus protect themselves from legal liability.

The segment consisted of an interview of voting software expert Eddie Perez. But it was not a retraction. It aired first during the Trump-fluffing Lou Dobbs program on the Fox Business Channel. Dobbs introduced it as just another “opinion.” Which means that Fox News remains at risk for the prior defamatory broadcasts.

However, Dobbs did not even conduct the interview. There was an unidentified, disembodied voice asking questions, with the answers by Perez edited in. Perez told CNN that he found this unusual and wasn’t told about this prior to his interview. Perez also said that “it was unusual for the news package to simply end with no comment from Dobbs and then cut to a commercial break.”

Perez told the mysterious interviewer that he “had not seen any evidence that Smartmatic software was used to delete, change, alter, anything related to vote tabulation.” He said that he wasn’t aware that Smartmatic software was used anywhere in the United States other than Los Angeles County. He refuted claims that Smartmatic and Dominion were connected to one another. He also shot down allegations that the company was connected to George Soros or that any votes were tabulated outside of the U.S. And lastly, he said that he was not aware of any incidents where Smartmatic’s software was “banned in the U.S. due to security weaknesses or wrongdoing.”

This interview subsequently aired during the programs of notorious Trump promoters “Judge” Jeanine Pirro and Maria Bartiromo. Along with Dobbs, these programs frequently hosted Trump’s “losing is winning” lawyer Rudy Giuliani, and his QAnon supporting lawyer Sidney Powell. They were among the Trump sycophants who regularly spread the sort of lies on Fox News that resulted in the legal action taken by Smartmatic.

Fox’s efforts to crawl out from under this legal rock are doomed to failure. They are not satisfying Smartmatic’s demands for a retraction. But they are indirectly conceding that their broadcasts were riddled with defamatory content. Why else would they suddenly air this awkwardly produced interview? And Fox’s history of refusing to correct the errors and lies they put on their air makes this concession all the more significant.

Fox News is plainly afraid of being held accountable and are desperately scrambling to shield themselves from liability. The network is folding like a lawn chair. That’s how bullies respond when they are challenged. Smartmatic is setting a good example for all of the others who have been defamed by Fox News. Hopefully we will see more of this in the future.

UPDATE: Newsmax has broadcast a retraction of the defamatory statements about Smartmatic that they previously aired. They refuted most of the lies that Trump and his media sycophants have been disseminating and blamed it all on “guests, attorneys, and elected officials” who appeared o the network. Clearly they are worried about the threatened litigation, As they should be.

Trump Stuffs 5 Lies (and 1 Truth) Into a Single Psycho Tweet Starring Stephen Colbert

Despite having lost some sixty court cases (including two in the Supreme Court), and being ridiculed repeatedly by reality-based observers, Donald Trump is continuing to rant incoherently about his delusional belief that he won the presidential election. He is terminally obsessed with having been decisively beaten by Joe Biden, someone he tried to malign as “sleepy” and “unfit for office.”

Donald Trump

At this point it’s becoming somewhat comical to see each new complaint by Trump that the election was “rigged,” and “stolen” from him, despite failing to provide any evidence to the dozens of courts that ruled against him. And during his regularly scheduled Saturday morning tweetstorm Trump added to the cacophony of crazy with this surprisingly compact collection of falsehoods:

That’s five blatant lies crammed into one little tweet. Trump is getting good at that. In fact, he’s been “honored” by PolitiFact four years running for their “Lie of the Year” award (which Trump hysterically tried to pawn off on Biden) Just for fun, let’s break down this little gem of asininity:

“He didn’t win the election.”
The “He” here is, of course, President-Elect Joe Biden. Only a severely disturbed individual could make this claim after losing an election by more than seven million votes and 83 electoral college votes.

“He lost all 6 Swing States…”
Trump is referring to Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada. They all certified the victory for Biden. Several of those states have Republican governors and/or legislatures.

“…by a lot.”
Once again, the margin of Biden’s victory in the electoral college was 306 to 232. That’s the same margin that Trump won with in 2016, and he called it a landslide.

“They then dumped hundreds of thousands of votes in each one.”
If Trump has any proof of this, for some reason he withheld it from the judges in the nearly sixty lawsuits he filed. He’s either concealing some secret, ingenious legal strategy, or he’s certifiably insane. I’m going with the latter.

“…and got caught.
HUH? Notice that Trump doesn’t identify anyone who was allegedly “caught.” That’s because nobody was “caught.” And nobody was “caught” because nobody did anything wrong.

The one thing that Trump got right in this tweet was his warning to Republicans saying “Don’t be weak fools!” That’s good advice for anyone. Particularly Republicans who have demonstrated unprecedented cowardice by supporting Trump’s ludicrous contention that he won an election that he so badly lost. But the GOP bootlickers are merely striving to emulate Trump who has cornered the market on both weakness and foolishness.

Finally, for some reason Trump posted a link to an article in the despicable Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post. The article, attributed vaguely to the “Post Editorial Board”, was a ridiculous criticism of Stephen Colbert’s interview of Joe Biden. They actually thought it was an insult to say that a comedian’s interview was a joke. And even worse…

“‘Late Show’ host Stephen Colbert actually managed to set a new record for wet media kisses delivered to Joe Biden in his long sit-down with the prez-elect.”

Seriously? A newspaper that’s part of the faux journalistic, Fox News/Murdoch, right-wing confederacy of conservative butt-kissers, is making this complaint about a late-night talk show host? Have they never seen Trump “interviewed” by Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Lou Dobbs, Maria Bartiromo, or any of the “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends? Those affairs are always utterly humiliating tongue baths that leave a telltale orange residue.

The Colbert interview, while not strictly journalism, was actually an entertaining and revealing look into a more personal side of Biden and the First Lady-elect, Dr. Jill Biden (videos below). Which is what entertainment shows are supposed to do. Even so, the buzzards who make up the Post Editorial Board could learn something about journalism from Colbert.
