Putin Puppet Tucker Carlson a Few Days Before the Navalny Murder: ‘Every Leader Kills People’

Friday morning delivered news of the tragic death of Alexei Navalny, the Russian opposition leader and Vladimir Putin’s most outspoken critic. Navalny’s passing in a Russian prison is heartbreaking, but not surprising.

The death of such a prominent opponent of Putin comes at a time when the U.S. Congress is struggling to pass legislation that would provide Ukraine support for their battle against Russia’s aggression and slaughter of innocent civilians. Democrats have voted overwhelming in favor of that legislation, which also included aid for Israel and American immigration reforms, while Republicans have done Putin’s – and Donald Trump’s – bidding by blocking it.

Navalny’s death also came just a few days after Tucker Carlson traveled to Russia for a slobbering propaganda production, wherein he did an embarrassingly obsequious interview of Putin that omitted little or no references to the Russian dictator’s war crimes in Ukraine and elsewhere, his assassinations of his foes, or the incarceration of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich. Carlson also neglected to bring up Putin’s persecution of Navalny.

In the hours that have passed since the reporting of Navalny’s death, neither Trump nor Carlson has posted a single comment of condemnation or consolation. Carlson, however, had something to say on the broader subject of Putin’s murderous reign just after concluding his Russian holiday. It came in response to an interviewer’s inquiry in the following exchange…

Interviewer: You should challenge some ideas. For instance, you didn’t talk about freedom of speech in Russia, you did not talk about Navalny, about assassinations, about restrictions on opposition
Tucker Carlson: Every leader kills people, including my leader. Every leader kills people. some kill more than others. Leadership requires killing people. Sorry, that’s why I wouldn’t want to be a leader.

So Carlson believes that it’s perfectly acceptable and routine for authoritarian tyrants to commit extrajudicial murders. It’s just a fact of life to him. He asserts that all leaders engage in the practice of political assassinations. Even, according to Carlson, American leaders. And he specifically includes President Biden (“my leader”). Perhaps he would like to tells us who, and if he’s cool with that too?

This is another nauseating position that is held by the MAGA Cult of Trump. Add it to Trump’s recent remarks that he would “encourage” Putin to attack America’s NATO allies. But it is only the latest toxic tantrum thrown by Tucker. His party in Putinland produced several pieces of pure pro-Russian propaganda. For instance, he declared that Moscow “is so much nicer than any city in my country.” And that was just the beginning…

Carlson was bewitched by what he regarded as the freedom and the beauty of Russia. But his impression was tainted by a perverse distortion of reality. He lauded the access to cheap fast foods that actually cost more as a percentage of income than in the U.S.

Carlson also extolled the virtues of grocery shopping in Russia that he said would “radicalize you against our leaders,” despite his pitifully ignorant grasp of real world economics.

Carlson was also impressed by some of the showcase subways in Moscow, while neglecting to show the ones that are dingy and dilapidated.

The overall conclusions by Carlson were that Russia is a far better country than America. He says it has a higher standard of living for less money. He said that it is on par with other nations, including the U.S., with regard to social and political liberty. He even praised the Russian press as only slightly more censorious than the their counterparts in America…

“Press restriction is universal in the United States, I know because I’ve lived it. Ask my former – I’ve had a lot of jobs. And I’ve done this for 34 years and I know how it works and there’s more censorship in Russia than there is in the United States but there is a great deal in the United States.”

Notice that Carlson cut himself off before saying “Ask my former…” employer, Fox News. That’s because he was fired by Fox for lying after they were forced into a $787 million defamation settlement. And he makes vague allusions to the fact that he was also fired by CNN, MSNBC, and PBS.

That resume of repeated failure is a reflection on Carlson, not the freedom of the press in America. But he will continue to lie to his shrunken audience and suck up to his keepers in the Kremlin. Because, at this point, that’s all he has left.

UPDATE: The next day, Carlson made a statement about Navalny, calling it “horrifying.” However, he never mentioned his hero, Putin, or attributed the murder to him.

However, in the past seven years Trump has turned his grifting operation to politics, raising millions of dollars from billionaires seeking favors from government, extorting funds from foreign countries, and fleecing his deluded MAGA disciples.

Expanding that criminal outreach into political scams, Trump is now proposing that his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump (Eric’s girl), be made co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC). She would serve along side devoted Trump flunky and election denier, Michael Whatley, and Trump’s campaign manager Chris LaCivita. The elevation of that trio of toadies to run the RNC is further evidence that the party has devolved into a true cult that is blindly obedient to the will of its Dear Leader.

Lara Trump has zero experience in managing an electoral organization. So putting her in charge of the RNC in this profoundly significant election year is something that should be extraordinarily helpful – to Democrats. And she has already demonstrated how much help her leadership will be in a recent interview on Newsmax, the network that employed her as a guest host and contributor after her termination from Fox News. She told her colleague Rob Schmitt that…

“If I am elected to this position I can assure you there will not be any more $70,000 – or whatever exorbitant amount of money it was – spent on flowers. Every single penny will go to the number one, and the only job of the RNC. That is electing Donald J. Trump as president of the United States.”

The rest of the Republican candidates for office must be happy to hear that. The RNC is supposed to be a neutral enterprise that advances the prospects of all GOP candidates. But in the Era of Trump “the only job of the RNC [is] is electing Donald J. Trump.” For some reason Lara’s allegedly billionaire Sugardaddy-in-Law doesn’t think that he has enough money, or access to donors, to finance his own campaign. And that may be true because Trump has had to spend millions of his donors dollars on his legal fees and incompetent lawyers.

So now Trump has to appropriate all of the donations made to the RNC that were intended to benefit the party nationally. And even that may not be enough, considering that the Party’s current leadership under chair Ronna McDaniel has been so inept that the party has little to show for it’s efforts. They have raised record low amounts in the past year and have far less available cash on hand than their Democratic opponents.

But not to worry. With Trump’s daughter-in-law at the helm of the RNC, there will be no more wasteful expenditures on things like flowers. Now it will just be lawyers, Trump rallies, golfing, and portraits of Trump. Plus they will be able to introduce the tactics that Trump has used for decades to fill his pockets.

This election cycle has, unfortunately, seen the media embarrass themselves with ridiculous stories that compare a candidate that they say is old with memory problems, to his opponent who is also old and with 91 pending felony charges, an adjudication as a rapist, is guilty of financial fraud, and recently promised to illegally violate the NATO treaty and “encourage” Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to attack America’s European allies.

Last week the press covered the report released by special counsel Robert Hur on his probe of documents stored by President Biden. But what should have been a story about Biden being fully exonerated, was diverted into a smear campaign that made inappropriate and false assertions about Biden’s mental acuity.

Biden’s response to this unethical attack was multilayered. And consistent with his affable personality, humor was part of that response. For instance…

However, Fox News was apparently concerned about the strategies being employed by the Biden campaign. Host Harris Faulkner was generous enough to provide some free advice to help Biden deal with the furor over the Hur report’s unscrupulous insinuations. Never mind that most of that furor was fanned by Fox News itself. Faulkner began by asking…

“Who is doing this man’s strategy? President Biden joking about his age and memory. Insisting, in fact, he does remember things after that scathing DoJ report cast so much doubt. He didn’t get indicted because the question was, could a jury even go anywhere with him because he has no memory. Now he says he does have memory. Are they gonna indict him?

So Faulkner’s formula for disposing of this dilemma is to refrain from any and all humor. As if a scowling facade of seriousness would put the matter to rest. That sort of gloomy brooding and hostility might work for Trump on his cult disciples, but most everyone else finds it repulsive and repellant.

What’s more, Faulkner completely misstates the findings in Hur’s report. Hur did not decline to indict Biden because of an allegedly poor memory. It was because he didn’t have the evidence to indict, as he said in his report in several separate passages such as the following…

“[W]e cannot prove that Mr. Biden knew about or intended to keep the document after he was vice president, or we cannot prove the document contains national defense information, or both. These documents do not support criminal charges against Mr. Biden.”

Consequently, Faulkner’s snarky inquiry as to whether Biden would be indicted now that he has acknowledged that his memory is fine only confirms her own cognitive failings. He never claimed to have a memory problem to begin with. So his affirmation of his recall doesn’t change anything for Biden or the special counsel.

Fox News ‘Doctor’ Makes Bogus Diagnosis of Biden that Fits Trump’s Cognitive Disorder Way Better

The release of special counsel Robert Hur’s report on the documents stored by President Biden has made the top of the news this week for all the wrong reasons. What should have been a story about Biden being fully exonerated for any wrongdoing, was hijacked by wholly inappropriate assessments of his mental acuity.

In a sane world the exoneration of Biden would be the lead story on every newscast. But Hur’s insertion of irrelevant opinions about Biden’s cognitive functioning – which Hur is utterly unqualified to assess – wound up stealing the show. That makes this a failure on the part of the media as well as the special counsel. Which is nothing new, as demonstrated by the reporting on Biden’s recent economic successes.

The Hur report not only concluded that no charges be filed against Biden, it also noted the stark differences between Biden’s actions and those of Donald Trump, who is currently facing 91 felony charges. Hur wrote that…

“Most notably, after being given multiple chances to return classified documents and avoid prosecution, Mr. Trump allegedly did the opposite. According to the indictment, he not only refused to return documents for many months, he also obstructed justice by enlisting others to destroy evidence and then lie about it. In contrast, Mr. Biden turned in classified documents to the National Archives, the Department of Justice, consented to a search of multiple locations, including his homes and sat for a voluntary interview, and in other ways cooperated with the investigation.”

However, those facts seemed to get short shrift in favor of more salacious, tabloid style, pseudo-journalism. And at the forefront of that wretched reportage was, of course, Fox News. The network that serves as the Ministry of Propaganda for Trump and his MAGA Republicans invited Dr. Nicole Saphier to comment on the Hur report and Biden’s response to it. Note that Saphier is a radiologist with no credentials in psychology or politics. But that didn’t stop her from making a remote diagnosis…

“Actually, the way that [Biden] came out and was attacking [Fox’s White House correspondent] Peter Doocy and others, that actually goes in line with maybe he is having some sort of cognitive decline.’

First of all, Biden didn’t “attack” Doocy. To the contrary, he joked with him before explaining why he disagreed with the typically loaded question that Doocy had asked. Biden has cordial relationships with everyone in the press corps, and often needles them light-heartedly.

More to the point, Saphier’s assertion that a display of anger is evidence of “some sort of cognitive decline,” is not only way off target with regard to Biden, but is actually much more descriptive of Trump. After all, it is Trump who maligns the media as “enemy of the people.” And it is Trump who viciously attacks reporters and news outlets at every opportunity. for instance…

That’s just a few of the insults that Trump has thrown at reporters in the midst of his temper tantrums. So if Saphier thinks that Biden’s mild and cordial tone is evidence of cognitive decline, what must she think of Trump’s raving? The two hour torture featured Carlson employing his constipated stare as his hero regurgitated well-worn talking points.

Carlson’s adventures in Putinland are not particularly surprising. He has been hankering for this hook-up for years, despite the perils of visiting a country where actual journalists seem to keep falling out of windows. That, however, isn’t something that Carlson needs to worry about because, unlike actual journalists, he is a renowned purveyor of “alternative facts” who is only allowed entry to Russia because they already know that his work will be slobberingly sycophantic.

True to form, Carlson spent most of the two hours enraptured by his master’s voice as he disseminated flagrantly self-serving disinformation. CNN’s Oliver Darcy succinctly summarized the sit-down, saying that Carlson…

“…largely refrained from challenging the Russian authoritarian, whose brutal war on Ukraine has led to the needless deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. Those expecting a hard-hitting face-off will have surely walked away sorely disappointed by the long-winded and rambling interview, in which Tucker himself at times appeared lost. […] Carlson allowed the autocrat a free lane to manipulate the public and tell his version of history, no matter how deceptive it may have been.”

Darcy also observed the transparency of Putin’s exploitation of Carlson noting that “Putin’s own spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, told reporters this week that Carlson was selected because he ‘has a position that is different from the rest’ of Western media.” In other words, Carlson was pre-approved by the Kremlin’s Office of Authorized Up-Sucking.

At no time during the Veneration of Vlad did Carlson challenge Putin’s blatant lies and distortions of reality. He didn’t bother to mention that Russia has committed war crimes in Ukraine and elsewhere; imprisoned and attempted to murder opposition leader Alexei Navalny and other Putin critics; and only briefly referred to the incarceration of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich for more than a year.

With regard to Ukraine, Carlson got Putin to agree to end his unprovoked slaughter if the U.S. would stop providing aid and Zelenskyy would unilaterally surrender Ukraine’s sovereignty. With regard to Gershkovich, Carlson asked Putin to release him to Carlson’s custody in a grotesque scheme to grab some undeserved glory. He said that “He’s a kid, and maybe he was breaking your law in some way, but he’s not a super spy.” That didn’t go over well with fellow Wall Street reporter Ted Mann, who tweeted…

All of this affirms Carlson’s loyalty to Putin’s autocracy over democracy. It’s a record of betrayal that Carlson has been forging for several years. Tucker Carlson Explains Why He’s in Moscow Sucking Up to His BFF Vladimir Putin

This week it was discovered that former Fox News Trump-fluffer, Tucker Carlson, is in Moscow, reportedly to interview the Russian dictator and MAGA hero, Vladimir Putin. It is not especially surprising that Carlson would travel to a country where journalists are routinely arrested or shoved out of windows. Although, that’s not something that he would have to worry about, because he can hardly be described as a journalist.

Furthermore, Carlson is a slobbering sycophant of Putin and has not been shy about about saying so. So it’s unlikely that he would stir the Kremlin’s wrath while he’s there. In fact, Carlson has literally bragged about his support for Russia over America and its allies, saying “Why do I care about what’s going on in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia? And why shouldn’t I root for Russia, because I am.”

Now Carlson has posted a video wherein he seeks to explain the reasons for his pilgrimage to Putinland. True to form, it’s a self-serving four minutes of blatant lies and propaganda. The crux of his message (video below) asserts that…

“Two years into a war that’s reshaping the entire world, most Americans are not informed. They have no real idea what’s happening in this region. […] No one has told them the truth. Their media outlets are corrupt. They lie to their readers and viewers.”

That’s actually true, so long as Carlson is referring to himself and his flagrant dishonesty as revealed in his own communications that were disclosed during the Dominion Voting Systems defamation lawsuit against Fox News. Those lies cost Fox News $787 million. In general, however, Carlson is just insulting the American people who he apparently believes are ignorant lemmings being led around by pseudo-journalists like himself. Which is also true, so long as he’s referring to Fox News viewers and Trump’s MAGA cult.

Carlson then complains that American media reports on Ukraine have been “pep sessions” and propaganda for Ukrainian President Zelenskyy. Then he asserts that “not a single western journalist has bothered to interview the president of the other country involved in this conflict, Vladimir Putin.” That’s actually not true.

While Putin does not often make himself available to western media that he doesn’t control, there have been a few notable exceptions. For instance, NBC News interviewed Putin on June 14, 2021. Financial Times interviewed Putin on July 5, 2019. Megyn Kelly interviewed Putin, March 10, 2018.

The notion that Carlson is the guy to set the American people straight on Putin and his intentions in Ukraine, and more broadly, Eastern Europe and the World, is preposterous. While he yammers about propaganda in the Western press, he leaves out the fact that he is one of its foremost agents of “alternative facts.” And he wouldn’t be allowed entry to Russia, much less an interview with Putin, if they didn’t already know that it would be a pusillanimous puff piece. After all, that’s pretty much all Carlson has ever produced in the past. For example…

Trump and Fox News are So Scared Of Biden, They’re Switching in Gavin Newsom and Michelle Obama

The 2024 presidential election may not hew as closely to that principle as prior elections. The emergence of Donald Trump has introduced some rather unique considerations that skew the strategic landscape in today’s politics. For instance, it’s the first election wherein a major party nominee is facing 91 felony criminal charges, has already been held civilly liable for defamation and rape, and is promising to reign as a dictator.

That said, the economy will still be a significant factor on the minds of voters as they make their choices for president. And the fact that the economy is presently firing on all cylinders presents a real problem for Trump and his mouthpieces at Fox News. The last thing they want is to run against Bidenomics as it is creating jobs, lowering inflation, lifting wages, and boosting the prospects of American business.

Consequently, when Fox News’ Senior Trump-fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, interviewed Trump for her Sunday morning program, she made a point of deflecting from Biden to two other notable persons who have made it clear that they are not running for president: Gavin Newsom and Michelle Obama. And Trump was all to happy to take the bait…

Bartiromo: You’ve said that you don’t even think [Biden] is who you’re going to face off in November.
Trump: Personally, I don’t think so.
Bartiromo: Well, Gavin Newsom is right out of central casting. How are you going to do up against Gavin Newsom?
Trump: I tell you what. Because he’s so much bullsh*t. He want’s to say how wonderful…it’s doing horribly. His state is doing horribly. You look at the homeless problem. You look at the people that are leaving. You have companies that are leaving. They’re all leaving for other locations. I think Gavin’s easy because California is a disaster. He has been a horrible governor.

Trump: You have to see. Look, I’ve seen polls where she doesn’t do well. She may do well. But I’ve seen polls where I beat her easily. I beat her by a lot. I had four great years.

This segment could not have been a bigger waste of time. Newsom and Obama have been crystal clear that they aren’t considering any campaign for the White House. Trump’s opinion that Biden won’t be his opponent is based solely on his fear that he is likely to lose to him again, just like he did in 2020. So Newsom and Obama are convenient deflections from that recurring fate of humiliation and defeat.

Naturally, Trump insists that he can easily beat Newsom or Obama. He childishly maligns them as he does any opponent that threatens him. And his confidence that he would prevail is a product of his massive, yet fragile ego. You can rest assured that he has never seen a poll showing that he would beat either one of them. But he has surely seen evidence of the booming Biden economy.

What’s more, his assertion that he had “four great years” is contrary to reality. He presided over the worst pandemic in a century. And his ignorance, incompetence, and even deliberate neglect, resulted in far more dire consequences than would have been suffered if an able administrator were in charge.

His term also had the worst record on job creation since the the Great Depression. Plus, he raised taxes for the working class, and lowered them for corporations and the wealthy. He put justices in place who set women’s rights back fifty years. And he sucked up to our foreign enemies while alienating our allies.

In short, Trump had four disastrous years that left the nation poorer, more in debt, sicker, and more divided than ever. Then he left the White House kicking and screaming about election fraud, stole classified documents and lied about it, tried to instigate a violent insurrection, and sought to strongarm state officials into altering election results.

That record makes him vulnerable to Biden, Newsom, Obama, or any other challenger. At this point he would lose to SpongeBob SquarePants. American voters are not about to turn over the country to a criminal crybaby with authoritarian aspirations.

The success of the measures executed by Biden and the Democrats is in stark contrast to those employed by Republicans and Donald Trump. During Trump’s occupation of the White House he devotedly advanced the interests of corporations and the wealthy, to the detriment of average Americans. And the outcome proved to be devastating as he left office with the worst jobs record since Herbert Hoover. That contrast recently seeped into a segment of Fox News’ “The Five”…

The Biden administration’s stellar employment stats also made it into Fox News reporting. Although their reception of what is unarguably good news was something less than celebratory. For the most part they tried to downplay the news or find negative crumbs they could chew on. But in the end, the positivity of the numbers was hard to suppress and/or disguise.

The glad financial tidings were so tremendous that they were even recognized by Trump’s former director of his National Economic Council, Larry Kudlow, who now works for Fox News. Kudlow’s commentary on the matter was surprisingly complimentary. So much so that the Biden-Harris campaign featured it in their social media posts, including their account on Trump’s failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, along with a few other entertaining messages.

“We had a blowout jobs report. More than twice the consensus expectations. Now, I know many of my conservative friends are trying to drill holes in this report. But you know what, folks? It is what it is. It’s a very strong report. Not every economic stat should be viewed through a political lens. […] 353,000 gained in non-farm payroll – a very big number. Prior two months revised up by 126,000 – another big number. And the bottom line here is more Americans are working. And that’s a good thing no matter what your party registration is.”

The 2024 presidential year is bound to feature more of Trump’s madness, hostility, and failure, as well as Biden’s competence, compassion, and success. Biden has already been focusing his campaign on substantive issues that the American people care about, such as jobs, abortion, climate and environment, healthcare, gun reforms, tax equity, diplomacy, and saving democracy.

Meanwhile, Trump has been ranting feverishly about “witch hunts,” “election interference,” and scary brown immigrants. His entire campaign is consumed by two issues that have zero significance to the American people: 1) His “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was “rigged and stolen” from him. And 2) His relentless whining about his legal tribulations, such as the 91 criminal charges he faces, and his civil litigation that has already found him liable for defamation and rape.

Therein lie the factors that voters must consider when choosing who to vote for in November. And if anyone is having any trouble with that decision, then they have been hopelessly devoured by the Trump cult. Let them go. They are lost to us.

Thankfully, there are way more Americans who are sane, reachable, and love their country. Many who have not voted before, or not voted for Democrats. And they should be the targets of Democratic campaign efforts going forward.

BLAMING THE VICTIMS: Fox News Trump-Fluffer Blames DEI for the Deaths of U.S. Soldiers in Jordan

Last week a drone attack on an American military installation in Jordan took the lives of three soldiers stationed there. It was a brutal and unprovoked assault that the Iranian backers of the perpetrators will soon regret. Unfortunately, here at home Fox News is taking their “Blame America First” position that they have taken many times before in similar circumstances. It’s a position that they have adopted from their Dear Leader, Donald Trump…

On Monday morning, Fox’s Senior Trump-fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, interviewed MAGA Republican Rep. August Pfluger (R-TX). Their predictably prejudiced political punditry was rife with disparagement of President Biden. Pfluger attributed responsibility for the attack on what he falsely claimed was Biden’s “weakness.” Never mind that it is Republicans and Fox News who have been purposefully telegraphing a false message of American weakness to our enemies, in effect encouraging them them to launch attacks. But even worse was their attack on the deceased heroes that they were pretending to care about.

Pfluger: It’s the weakness that invites that aggression.
Bartiromo: Well, maybe they’re focused too much on DEI. There’s a concern at the FBI because they’re dropping the FBI special agent requirements in the name of DEI. I’m just wondering if that has anything to do with missing an important drone that just killed three of our heroes.

Bartiromo’s suggestion that DEI programs – Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – played a role in the soldiers’ deaths is straight-up racism. She and her GOP confederates are repulsed by the idea of treating people with unbiased respect. And they regard such treatment as special favors for inferiors. Which is apparently what they think of the soldiers who died and their brothers and sisters stationed with them.

As if that weren’t bad enough, Bartiromo is also displaying her pitiful ignorance by asserting that lowered requirements for FBI special agents had anything to do with this. First of all, even if the FBI is being more cognizant of DEI, that is not lowering their requirements at all. Secondly, the FBI has no responsibility for the security of military posts outside of the country.

More to the point, Bartiromo is blaming the deceased heroes for their own deaths. It is notable that the three soldiers who were killed were all Black. Which probably contributed to her implying that, due to DEI, they were too incompetent to perform their duties properly. That is not only a vicious lie, it is grossly insensitive, disrespectful, and unpatriotic.

Then again, that’s Fox News for you. They are nothing if not flaming hypocrites. Bartiromo and her audience might be interested in what the Fox News Corporate Responsibility Report says.

Gee… It’s almost as if Fox News corporation supports the sort of equity and civil rights that they vilify on the air 24/7. Too bad their hosts, guests, and viewers, don’t know anything about that.

Smartmatic: OAN Engaged in Potentially Criminal Activities with Trump Attorney Sidney Powell

The MAGA media confederation has suffered monumental losses lately. Particularly harsh was the 3/4 of a billion dollar judgment against Fox News for defaming Dominion Voting Systems. But that was just the beginning. Fox News, Newsmax, and One America News (OAN) remain at risk in several other pending lawsuits related to their promulgation of Donald Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged and stolen” from him.

Among the pending lawsuits is one by the voting software company, Smartmatic, against OAN. The Trump-fluffing propaganda outlet virulently attacked the company, charging falsely that they deliberately developed their software so that it could be hacked by nefarious Democratic operatives to switch votes from Trump to Joe Biden. Even though they knew that it wasn’t true.

Now there is further evidence of the conspiracy concocted by OAN and the Trump legal team. A new court filing by Smartmatic reveals that its president, Charles Herring, engaged in a suspicious email exchange with Trump attorney, Sidney Powell. As reported by CNN…

“In the wake of the 2020 election, the president of the far-right network One America News sent a potentially explosive email to former Trump campaign lawyer Sidney Powell, with a spreadsheet claiming to contain passwords of employees from the voting technology company Smartmatic, according to court filings. […]

“Lawyers from Smartmatic told a federal judge that the email, and the attached spreadsheet, suggest OAN executives ‘may have engaged in criminal activities’ because they ‘appear to have violated state and federal laws regarding data privacy.'”

This allegation appears to affirm the unsavory relationship between OAN and the Trump campaign clan. It’s a relationship that also includes, Christina Bobb, an attorney who worked for both Trump and as a correspondent for OAN. As part of her duties for Trump she signed off on the confirmation to the FBI that all of the materials, including classified documents, that Trump had improperly taken to Mar-a-Lago had been accounted for and returned. That was not true.

Now the bonds between Trump and OAN have been drawn even tighter. If the president of the company was conspiring with the Trump legal team to gain access to Smartmatic machines, or the accounts of their employees, or to disseminate the means of that access, they are potentially liable for criminal charges.

That will eventually come out when this case goes to trial, if it goes to trial. OAN has already settled with two poll workers who sued them for defamation. And they have tried to distance themselves from the flagrant lies perpetrated by obsessive election denier, Mike Lindell of MyPillow fame. But any settlement is likely to bankrupt them.

OAN has far fewer resources than Fox News. Who, by the way, are also facing a lawsuit by Smartmatic. So with the upcoming litigation involving Smartmatic, and Trump’s multiple indictments, there are some interesting times ahead for Trump and his purveyors of propaganda. Stay tuned.
