Trump Whines ‘Leave Mike Pence Alone’ After Learning He Had Classified Documents at His Home

The Case of the Classified Documents is getting more complex with each passing day. It began with Donald Trump stealing and hoarding hundreds of sensitive national security documents at his Mar-a-Lago hotel/home. Then it expanded to include documents found in President Biden’s home in Delaware. And now former VP Mike Pence has joined the club.

While the underlying plot points have distinct similarities, the details reveal stark differences. For instance, both Biden and Pence assert that the documents in their possession were taken inadvertently. They both conducted voluntary searches and immediately turned over what they found to the FBI and the National Archives. By contrast, Trump still claims that the documents he took belong to him. He initially lied to the FBI about having them. And he refused to return them when asked, prompting the issuance of a search warrant for his Palm Beach bunker.

Trump continues to insist that he did nothing wrong. He has accused the Justice Department and the FBI of being “thugs” and “fascists” who are conspiring to destroy him. And now that Pence has been caught up in this melodrama, Trump, who recently renewed his accusations that Pence is a “Deep State” traitor for not trying to overturn the 2020 election results, is trumpeting Pence’s innocence. He posted a comment on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, saying that…

“Mike Pence is an innocent man. He never did anything knowingly dishonest in his life. Leave him alone!!!”

Did you hear that? Leave him alone! Pence appears to have done precisely what Biden did, but Trump wants him to be left alone. Meanwhile, he wants Biden to be drawn and quartered. What Trump did, in contrast to Biden and Pence, was deliberate and brazenly criminal. And yet he thinks he should be reelected to the presidency. Don’t try to make any sense of it. It’s just the rambling of a deeply disturbed egomaniac with a warped mind and no grasp of reality.

Predictably, Fox News is covering the Pence documents story with their usual bias and dishonesty. On Tuesday morning’s episode of “Outnumbered,” co-host Mollie Hemingway repeatedly tried to trivialize the matter of all classified documents being mishandled and falsely claimed that President Obama had disputes with the National Archives. She was parroting a recent Trump lie that Obama had taken classified documents to his home in Chicago. Then Hemingway unleashed this malarkey…

“What really made this whole thing different is when the National Archives took a fairly common paperwork dispute with a former president, one they despise, and they turned it into this big, carzy thing of raiding the home. And now, all of a sudden, they’re now being hoisted by their own petard here, where they’re now having to deal with the fact that there are problems with every former president and vice-president.”

Hemingway is pretty much alone in characterizing these events as merely “common paperwork disputes.” Not even Democrats are saying that about Biden. Most people agree that the mishandling of such materials is a serious matter. The question is whether it was inadvertent or deliberate.

On that score, Hemingway correctly noted that the difference between the Biden and Pence affairs, and Trump’s, is that Trump was subject to a search warrant. But she fails to acknowledge that the reason for it was because he refused to return the documents and lied about having them. The entire segment, and those that followed, were similarly slanted. But then, you didn’t expect Fox News to report on this matter factually and responsibly, did you?

UH-OH: Trump Says (aka Lies) that He Has ‘INFO On Everyone’ Who Comes to Mar-a-Lago

When Donald Trump isn’t bragging about how stupendously awesome he thinks he is, he is disparaging everyone that he regards as being insufficiently worshipful of him. It’s a textbook example of the malignant narcissism that he’s been suffering from for decades.

The past couple of weeks has provided Trump an opportunity to lash out at his arch enemy, President Biden, over matters related to the discovery of a handful of classified documents at his home and office. Trump has sought to draw utterly inapt comparisons between his own documents scandal and Biden’s relatively trifling filing errors, the details of which are light years apart.

A report Monday morning has now set Trump off on another wild ride. According to CNN, the White House counsel’s office released a statement regarding the absence of visitor logs at Biden’s Delaware home, saying that “Like every President across decades of modern history, his personal residence is personal.” That rather innocuous fact was all it took to trigger Trump who posted on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that…

“The White House just announced that there are no LOGS or information of any kind on visitors to the Wilmington house and flimsy, unlocked, and unsecured, but now very famous, garage. Maybe they are smarter than we think! This is one of seemingly many places where HIGHLY CLASSIFIED documents are stored (in a big pile on the damp floor). Mar-a-Lago is a highly secured facility, with Security Cameras all over the place, and watched over by staff & our great Secret Service. I have INFO on everyone!”

There’s a lot of steaming cow manure rising from that digital pile. To begin with, Biden’s home is hardly “unlocked and unsecured.” It is, after all, the residence of the sitting President of the United States and his family. Secondly, Trump’s description of the documents as being stored “in a big pile on the damp floor” was pulled straight from his assumptive imagination. And finally, Trump makes the unsettling declaration that “I have INFO on everyone!”

Really? We can set aside the spine-chilling implications of that because it isn’t remotely possible. There are hundreds of guests going in and out of Mar-a-Lago all the time. None of them are subjected to even the most meager ID checks. And recent examples of questionable visitors to the hotel confirm that it’s security is near non-existent.

For instance, Trump admittedly had no info on notorious white supremacist Nick Fuentes when he was a guest at Mar-a-Lago. In fact, Trump’s excuse for hosting Fuentes, whom he conspicuously declined to repudiate, was that he “had never met and knew nothing about” him. Trump also had no info on the fake heiress and alleged Russian spy who made repeated trips to Mar-a-Lago.

Trump’s complaint that Biden didn’t keep visitor logs for his private residence is also typically hypocritical. As president, Trump himself confessed that he didn’t keep any such logs for Mar-a-Lago. Even worse, during his term in office Trump refused to provide access to visitors logs for the White House itself, ending the traditional practice of doing so. Biden restored that practice shortly after his inauguration.

Naturally, the Republican Party is running cover for Trump. Rep. James Comer, the new chair of the House Oversight Committee, has announced his intention to seek information about visitors to Biden’s home due to the few documents that Biden voluntarily revealed had been found there. Comer simultaneously stated that he would not seek similar info for Mar-a-Lago, where hundreds of sensitive national security materials were discovered after Trump lied to the FBI about having them.

We can expect this sort of partisan dishonesty and hypocrisy to continue for the foreseeable future. That’s because Republicans care more about protecting the criminals in their party than they do about the security of the nation. And Trump will undoubtedly continue to brazenly lie about virtually everything. That’s because the truth is his enemy, and he knows it.

Trump v Biden: Their Reactions to Special Counsels Reveals Who’s Innocent and Who’s Scared

The self-described “most fabulous whiner” of Mar-All-Ego is starting off the new year pretty much the same way he ended the last year: Complaining petulantly that he is a victim of the hordes of enemies that are conspiring to destroy him and his aspirations of messianic sovereignty over the American motherland.

The reports that President Biden was found to be in possession of a handful of classified documents have set off the alarms spinning atop the tinfoil fedoras perched on the pinheads of Republican rage-a-holics and right-wing propagandists. Of course, the same alarmists ignore the discovery of hundreds of such documents hoarded – and lied about – by Donald Trump at his Palm Beach resort/home. And never mind that the facts associated with these stories expose just how dissimilar the circumstances are.

What truly reveals the divergent realities of the Trump and Biden camps is their reactions to having become the subjects of special counsels. To the surprise of no one, Trump flicked the psycho switch as he unleashed his ferocious animosity toward special counsel Jack Smith. His distemper tantrum departed from anything resembling sanity. For instance, he posted on his pitifully floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that…

“The Special ‘Prosecutor’ assigned to the ‘get Trump case,’ Jack Smith(?), is a Trump Hating THUG whose wife is a serial and open Trump Hater.”

[NOTE: Trump doesn’t think that Smith is a prosecutor, or that his name is Smith]

And that…

“Fire a man who may very well turn out to be a criminal, Jack Smith. His conflicts, unfairness, and mental state of derangement make him totally unfit for the job of ‘getting Trump.’ Go after Biden and the Biden Crime Family instead. Like Bill Barr, the U.S. Attorneys in Delaware and Illinois are weak, ineffective, and afraid to do what must be done. The Election was RIGGED, and we are now losing our Country. We can’t let that happen. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

[NOTE: Trump appears to be seeking a special counsel who is better “fit” to investigate him. Also, he is maligning Bill Barr and the U.S. Attorneys in Delaware and Illinois (David C. Weiss and John R. Lausch Jr) as weak and ineffective. He appointed all three of them]

And that…

“Merrick Garland has to immediately end Special Counsel investigation into anything related to me because I did everything right, and appoint a Special Counsel to investigate Joe Biden who hates Biden as much as Jack Smith hates me.”

[NOTE: Robert Hur, the special counsel appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland to probe the Biden matter, was also appointed by Trump to be the U.S. Attorney of Maryland]

In Trump’s delirium he is being pursued by an “unfair,” “deranged,’ “criminal,’ “THUG,” whose whole family hates him. Clearly Trump is scared witless, and is suffering from a toxic mixture of paranoia and guilt. Despite his psychotic inability to admit it – even to himself – he knows what he did and what the consequences are.

For comparison, observe how Biden responded to the news that AG Garland had named a special counsel to investigate his documents “scandal.”

“People know I take classified documents, classified material seriously. I also said we are cooperating fully and completely with the Justice Department’s review. […] As was done in the case of the Biden Penn Center, the Department of Justice was immediately notified and the lawyers arranged for the Department of Justice to take possession of the documents.”

The reactions by Trump and Biden reflect the stark differences between the two. Biden is calm and respectful of the law. Trump is rattled and contemptuous of the law and even those he appointed to administer it.

For good measure, Trump’s Ministry of Propaganda (aka Fox News) predictably weighed in on his side. Fox host Mark Levin ranted that…

“Garland wanted to keep this thing hidden. He wanted to sweep it under the rug until it got hot. The Republicans were calling hearings. They were gonna call witnesses. And then Garland, reluctantly, today appoints a special counsel. And who does he appoint? He appoints the right hand man to FBI director Christopher Wray. That’s hardly the same kind of special counsel that Donald Trump is facing. This whole thing stinks to high heaven.”

So Levin is asserting that Garland appointed a special counsel for Biden because he wanted to “keep this thing hidden”? That’s a strange way to pursue that goal. Levin also baselessly claims that Garland “reluctantly,” appointed the special counsel. And Levin closes by complaining that the special counsel must be biased against Trump because he once worked for FBI director Christopher Wray. Once again, Mr. Hur was appointed by Trump, and so was Mr. Wray.

The confidence and tranquility of Biden, as contrasted by the fear and hostility exhibited by Trump, the Republican Party, Fox News, and the rest of the right-wing wacko-chamber, tells you all you need to know about the players in this melodrama. And just to seal the deal, Trump also posted a comment that may be the truest thing he ever said…

“Importantly, I have single-handedly shown the American Public how Crooked and Corrupt our Government is.”

It’s uncomfortably impossible to argue with Trump about that.

SRSLY? House Squeaker McCarthy Brags on Fox News About the ‘Diversity’ of the Republican Party

The spanking new – and precariously narrow – Republican majority in the House of Representatives is off to an entirely predictable stumbling start. After taking a historic fifteen votes to crown their so-called leader, Kevin McCarthy, they immediately passed a rules package that neutered him, insuring that he will be a weaker Speaker than any of his modern predecessors.

Naturally, the first priority of a Republican politician intent on pedaling positive propaganda, is to book a visit with Sean Hannity of Fox News. Which is precisely what McCarthy did Tuesday night. He brought along twenty of his closest comrades to turn the Capitol into a Fox News studio annex. And even though McCarthy had previously showered his lord and savior, Donald Trump, with gratitude, Trump was apparently too busy spinning lies about President Biden to join them.

Undeterred, McCarthy took full advantage of the platform that Hannity provided to disseminate Republican ignorance and lies. And true to form, McCarthy exhibited his utterly shameless ability to put into, what marginally passes for English, a perspective of the world that bears no resemblance to reality. For instance, he sat proudly in silence as Hannity praised him for expanding the “diversity” of the Republican Party.

“One of the things I’d like to see and am seeing is more diversity in the Republican Party. To me the Democratic Party is the party of coastal elites.”

Elaborating on that, McCarthy’s chair of the House Republican Conference, Elise Stefanik, said to…

“Take a look around at these wonderful members. This is the most diverse class of Republicans ever elected in the history of the United States Congress.”

Go ahead. Take a look around. The members gathered to celebrate “the most diverse class of Republicans ever elected” are all white, and with just three exceptions, men. In fact, the 117th session of Congress had 58 Black members, of whom 56 were Democrats. Republicans just doubled their Black members in the new 118th session to four. And they’re proud of that?

As for Hannity’s boasting about this pitiful representation by people of color, his lament about “coastal elites” is painfully hypocritical. Hannity divides his residency between his homes in New York and Florida. And he’s whining about these nefarious coast dwellers to McCarthy, who represents a district in California.

For good measure, Hannity invited McCarthy to further embarrass himself by bringing up the issue of the debt ceiling, which Republicans have promised to exploit in order to blackmail Democrats into acceding to GOP demands to cut Social Security and Medicare. That led to this exchange…

Hannity: Now let’s get to the issue of finances and money and spending. Why don’t explain how this process now will be different, and we’re coming up against the debt ceiling vote and what that’s gonna mean. That might be the first test of how committed the Republican Party in the House is to really holding the line on spending. Am I wrong on that?
McCarthy: No, you’re not wrong on that. One of the greatest threats we have for this nation is our debt. It makes us weak in every place that we can. We have never been at this high of debt to GDP except during World War II. And what are we funding? Wasteful Washington spending much of the time.

“So we think if you had a child and you gave him a credit card, and they kept hitting the limit, do you just increase the limit, or do you change their behavior? This is our moment to change the behavior to make sure that hard working taxpayer, that we’re not wasting their money. Do you mean to tell me there’s not waste out there? So we’re gonna look at every single dollar spent. We’re gonna audit. We’re change our behavior so we can balance our budget and make us stronger.

The child with a credit card analogy is flat out ridiculous. Raising the debt ceiling does not impact in any way whatsoever how much money congress can appropriate. It only makes it possible for the Treasury to pay debts already incurred. If the U.S. defaults on those debts it would send the nation – and the world – into a severe recession or worse. If McCarthy were truly interested in reducing the debt, he would do what Biden and the Democrats have been doing that resulted in the deficit declining by $1.4 trillion last year.

For the record, Trump increased the debt by nearly $8 trillion dollars. Much of that was due to his tax cut that benefited corporations and the wealthy. And now McCarthy and the GOP are proposing to defund the IRS and deprive the agency of necessary resources to audit high income individuals and businesses. That is estimated to cost more than $114 billion dollars.

What’s more, Republicans don’t seem eager to “change their behavior.” They aren’t proposing any serious spending cuts, other than those for the safety net programs that middle and lower income Americans rely on. Meanwhile, they continue to push for even more tax cuts and for maintaining subsidies for wealthy, multinational corporations – who don’t pay taxes.

Then, after running up the debt, Republicans want to default on those obligations after the fact. It almost seems like they are deliberately trying to crash the economy during Biden’s presidency and prior to the 2024 presidential election. Now why do you suppose they would want to do that? and for whom?

Trump and His GOP Toadies Furiously Spin Bogus Nothingburger Story About Biden Documents

The latest outrage by Donald Trump has taken off with the news that a handful of classified documents were found at an office that President Biden used prior to running for president. Of course, all classified documents should be handled properly and not doing so is cause for concern. However, Trump is in a veritable frenzy, mistakenly thinking he has caught Biden in a juicy and hypocritical something-or-other-gate.

Throughout the day on Monday Trump dropped a dozen posts on the subject of the Biden documents on his pitifully floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. They were incrementally more preposterous as he proceeded. Which is hard to believe considering the way this all started when the FBI raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago bunker.

Trump began his Monday mania with a comment that alleged as fact a bunch of pure bullpucky. He wrote…

“When is the FBI going to raid the many homes of Joe Biden, perhaps even the White House? These documents were definitely not declassified.”

That was followed by several affirmations from his flunkies in Congress who were typically aligned with Trump’s deliberate deceit. They included Marjorie Taylor Greene, Ronny Jackson, and Andy Biggs, who all claimed, without evidence, that Biden “stole classified documents” and had no power to declassify them. Greene went even further to malign the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) as “communists” who must be held accountable.

But this doesn’t stop there. Trump went on to dispense crackpot conspiracy theories about China financing the Biden office and subsequently gaining access to the documents. He ranted that…

“Wow! The Biden Think Tank is funded by CHINA!!! Also, a V.P. cannot Declassify documents, which are covered by the Federal Records Act, which is Criminal and MUCH TOUGHER than the Presidential Records Act, which is NOT Criminal. A President, me, can Declassify. ?How much more information has China been given?”

And that…

“The amount was 54 Million Dollars that the Biden Think Tank received from China. That’s a lot of money. They saw the Classified Documents!”

Trump linked to an article in Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post as supposed proof of these churlish charges. While the article did note that the the University of Pennsylvania had received millions of dollars, it never linked those donations to the Biden office. It is common for universities to receive donations from many sources, including corporate sponsors an alumni. However, even in the Post’s article it was revealed that…

“A University of Pennsylvania spokesman denied any anonymous Chinese money had gone to the center. ‘The Penn Biden Center has never solicited or received any gifts from any Chinese or other foreign entity. In fact, the University has never solicited any gifts for the Center,’ [University spokesman] Stephen MacCarthy said.”

BACKGROUND:

According to reports, the half dozen or so documents in question were found in a private, secure office at the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Biden Center. Biden didn’t know that the documents were there and they were likely taken inadvertently. They were discovered by Biden’s legal team who, unlike Trump, did the right thing. They immediately notified the National Archives who took custody of them. Then Attorney General Merrick Garland assigned a Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney to investigate further and, instead of whining and accusing the FBI of conducting a “witch hunt” like Trump, Biden and his staff cooperated fully.

Compare that to the hundreds of classified documents deliberately taken and hoarded by Trump at his publicly accessible Mar-a-Lago hotel/home. His response to inquiries were flagrant lies, telling the FBI that he had no such documents. Then, after the FBI discovered that there were more documents, Trump defied a subpoena to return them. He refused to cooperate with NARA and the DoJ, obstructing justice and falsely insisting that the documents were declassified with his mind and that they belonged to him.

Trump and his Republican spinmeisters are now outraged that there haven’t been raids on all of Biden’s properties, including the White House. But that’s only because the Biden team has been cooperative, so there has been no need for subpoenas or subsequent FBI search warrants. Also, how do they know that President Obama hadn’t previously declassified the documents with his mind? And what exactly do they think they would find if they raided the White House? Classified documents are permitted there.

Trump and the GOP are only exploiting this news because they think that it will vindicate him for his own legal dilemmas. But if Trump now claims that the presence of these documents at a Biden office is a criminal act, isn’t he confessing that he is a criminal? And since the charges against Trump are valid, but those he’s making against Biden are bogus, it’s clear that he should be held accountable. And the sooner the better.

It must be terribly difficult for Fox News to scrape up – or manufacture – derogatory stories about President Biden these days. The President and the Democratic Party have scored a remarkable number of victories during the first two years of his presidency. They include the Infrastructure Bill, historic job creation, strengthening and expanding NATO, nearly 100 judicial appointments, the gun safety bill, record investments to address the climate crisis, legislation to advance U.S. microchip production, and enhancing veterans’ healthcare. All of which were welcomed by most Americans, and opposed by most Republicans.

Consequently, Fox News has been reduced to fabricating fictional tales of imaginary abominations in order to stain the stunning record of achievement by the Biden administration and Democrats in Congress. And what Fox has latched unto in this holiday season is the atrocity of the Biden family taking a {gasp} vacation! As reported by Fox News’ Senior “Stupid Son of a B*tch,” Peter Doocy with commentary by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Cancun)…

Doocy: The President has a lot on his plate, and for the next few days he’s gonna be dealing with all of it from afar. Because the First Family stayed here at the White House for Christmas, but plans tomorrow to fly to vacation for the rest of this year and the beginning of next year in St. Croix.

Oh, the horror of Biden and his family spending “the rest of this year” (all of four days) in a distant land that is as far from Washington, D.C. as San Antonio, Texas. Ironically that’s the same state that “Cancun” Cruz fled from when his constituents were freezing to death last year. And this is what has Fox News steaming mad, despite never having criticized Donald Trump, who spent more time away from the White House than any president in history. Usually at his own resorts where he profited from the stay by gouging staff and Secret Service for accommodations.

Fox News covered the same horror story on their website where the headline read “Biden vacations in Virgin Islands as Americans face problems at home.” Who wants to tell Fox that the Virgin Islands are a U.S. territory and are therefore “home.” What’s more, a vague headline saying that “Americans face problems” could be attached to virtually anything that any president does at any time. Which would make all vacations impossible.

As for Biden, before leaving for his vacation he did what presidents do under these circumstances. He approved an emergency declaration for the affected regions of the country, and he authorized FEMA to coordinate disaster relief efforts. And the week before the storm hit, the Biden White House spoke to 26 state governors in afflicted regions, and he warned citizens to take precautionary measures because the coming storm is “dangerous and threatening.”

The seething panic at Fox News is how they typically respond to anything that Biden does or says. They are in a constant state of “Freak Out” no matter whether the issue is Biden helping Ukraine to defend itself from Russian invaders, or Biden falling off of his bicycle. It’s just what they do. For example, we’ll leave you with these previous outrage triggers that set off the snowflakes at Fox News…

Another ‘Twitter Files’ Doc Dump Fails to Make Its Government Censorship Case: COVID Edition

Since his $44 billion fiasco to take over Twitter, Elon Musk has demonstrated just how idiotic a wealthy narcissist can be. He has fumbled every step of the way, antagonizing the most critical components of success in social media: users and advertisers.

Among his many missteps, Musk dispatched a crew of crackpots on a mission to malign Twitter’s prior management and to contrive a conspiracy theory that they were colluding with the government to bring down Donald Trump and censor conservative opinions. But after ten releases of what he calls the “Twitter Files” (which are actually improperly disclosed private communications by Twitter staffers), Musk has not only failed to prove his allegations, he has effectively proven that Twitter’s previous content moderation practices were entirely appropriate and fairly considered.

The tenth episode of the “Twitter Files” fairy tales focuses on how Twitter conducted content moderation with regard to the COVID pandemic and the misinformation that erupted from rightist virus deniers. As usual, the contention by Musk’s designated toady, David Zweig, is that the U.S. government applied untoward pressure on Twitter to suppress the opinions of pro-COVID nutcases and anti-vaxxers. He began with the explicit claim that…

“The United States government pressured Twitter and other social media platforms to elevate certain content and suppress other content about Covid-19.”

Nowhere in the subsequent 41 tweet discharge did Zweig support that claim. To the contrary, he repeatedly posted emails that showed Twitter’s Trust and Safety staff acting appropriately. In tweet #9 Zweig noted that…

“In the summer of 2021, president Biden said social media companies were “killing people” for allowing vaccine misinformation. [Alex] Berenson was suspended hours after Biden’s comments, and kicked off the platform the following month.”

Zweig’s apparent purpose here was to associate Biden’s remarks with Twitter’s actions. But he offers nothing to support that inference. Biden was quite right that the COVID deniers, led by Trump and hacks like Berenson (who is not a doctor or scientist) were indeed inflating the mortality rate of the pandemic. Zweig followed that up by saying that…

“[Twitter exec Lauren] Culbertson wrote that the Biden team was “very angry” that Twitter had not been more aggressive in deplatforming multiple accounts. They wanted Twitter to do more.”

Once again, Zweig is making an unsupported connection between the rational opinions of the Biden administration and the actions by Twitter. It isn’t the least bit surprising that public health officials would want social media to help reduce the harm of a deadly pandemic. Which is all that Culbertson was saying. However, in the very next tweet Zweig contradicts his government overlord allegations by conceding that Twitter didn’t “capitulate” to the Biden team. In other words, there was no evidence of government/Twitter censorship collusion.

A few tweets later Zweig attempted to provide an example of government censorship, but once again, his example was utterly devoid of any relevant substance…

“Exhibit A: Dr. Martin Kulldorff, an epidemiologist at Harvard Medical School, tweeted views at odds with US public health authorities and the American left, the political affiliation of nearly the entire staff at Twitter.”

Setting aside Zweig’s biased and baseless view of the political affiliations of Twitter’s staff, his “Exhibit A” was based on a thoroughly biased source. Kulldorff was an advocate of herd immunity (allowing people to get infected, which would lead to more fatalities) and was affiliated with ultra-rightist think tanks. He opposed proven mitigation efforts such as masking and social distancing, and claimed that vaccines caused more harm than good. Zweig continued praising the quack doctor saying that…

“But Kulldorff’s statement was an expert’s opinion—one which also happened to be in line with vaccine policies in numerous other countries. Yet it was deemed “false information” by Twitter moderators merely because it differed from CDC guidelines.”

Apparently Zweig thinks that opinions, just by being in line with unnamed other countries, makes them scientifically valid and equivalent to the determinations of U.S. experts who, by the way, consider valid science from experts worldwide. Then Zweig wrapped up his tweetstorm by concluding that…

“Twitter made a decision, via the political leanings of senior staff, and govt pressure, that the public health authorities’ approach to the pandemic – prioritizing mitigation over other concerns – was ‘The Science'”

Once again, Zweig failed to establish any “political leanings of senior staff” or the presence of any “govt pressure.” But he does seem to be dismissing the value of “prioritizing mitigation over other concerns.” What “other concerns” might he be thinking about? Corporate profits? Political exploitation? For the record, “prioritizing mitigation” means curtailing the spread of the virus and saving lives. Which are objectives that neither Zweig, nor Musk, nor Trump, seemed to care very much about.

Finally, Zweig asked “What might this pandemic and its aftermath have looked like if there had been a more open debate on Twitter?” By which he means more dissemination of misinformation. And it’s pretty clear that it would have looked a lot worse to those who were lucky enough to survive.

Fox News Posts Their Ludicrous List of ‘The Biggest Losers of 2022’ – They Left Out a Few

At the end of every year the media is filled with lists that they compile of significant people and events that made the news for the previous twelve months. These lists enumerate the best and/or worst of whatever the topic of the list happens to be. It’s always a subjective exercise that reflects the opinions of whoever was assigned to put the list together.

Consequently, any such list by Fox News can be expected to lean heavily to the right politically. Which is exactly what happened with their “Biggest Losers in Politics” list for 2022. To begin with, the list was curiously short. These lists usually itemize ten or twenty contenders for recognition, but Fox could only manage to scrape up five. That’s likely because they were determined to populate the list with Democrats, but couldn’t find enough to fill their list because it was an unexpectedly good year for Democrats.

Fox News crowned Stacey Abrams as their biggest loser. While she was defeated for the governorship of Georgia, it hardly seems worthy of top dishonors for a Democrat who lost a tight a race in red state. The same thing goes for their second place finisher, Beto O’Rourke of Texas.

Somewhat surprisingly, Fox News put Donald Trump in at third. At least they had him on the list, but by any rational standard he would have been first. After all, not only did most of his endorsed candidates in contested races lose, but his Mar-a-Lago home/hotel was raided by the FBI where they found hundreds of illegally hoarded classified documents. And the Congress has issued criminal referrals to the Department of Justice for those crimes, as well as others related to his having incited the insurrection on January 6, 2021, and for obstruction justice.

Fox’s list was rounded off with Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney and Herschel Walker, whose losses have nothing in common. Maloney lost due to a badly gerrymandered redistricting, while Walker lost because he’s Trumpian moron who never should have run.

The most ridiculous thing about this Fox News list was what was left off of it. They apparently didn’t think that the humiliation of losers like Kari Lake, Blake Masters, Dr. Oz, Kanye West, Elon Musk, Rudy Giuliani, Steve Bannon, or Vladimir Putin, deserved any mention at all.

The best justification for Trump to have been declared the biggest loser is that he had a prominent role in contributing to the pathetic losses of everyone just listed above. That’s actually a pretty remarkable achievement.

The only list missing this year so far, is the one that Trump might produce himself. Although there is still time, and now that he has posted his nightmarish Christmas greeting, he is free to put his own “Worst of 2022” list together. Not that we can’t all predict what it would look like. And of course, it would lead off with Trump’s arch enemy, President Biden…

Is Trump’s Rabid Rant Accusing the FBI of ‘Changing the Election Results’ Proof He’s Nuts?

The mental state of Donald Trump has been questionable for decades. He has been diagnosed by professionals as a malignant narcissist with sociopathic tendencies. He is a pathological liar. He has delusions of grandeur so extreme that he views himself as the sole savior of America and the world.

This messianic psychosis is evident in everything Trump does and says, particularly when referring to himself. That is hardly the behavior of a “very stable genius.” It is a neurosis that poses great risks to America’s future should he be elevated again to any position of power. And the sanity and patriotism of anyone who would vote for him should be similarly regarded as deranged. Especially after Trump recently dined with a couple of unabashed Hitler lovers and called for the “termination” of the U.S. Constitution.

Trump’s deteriorating psychological sickness continues to be displayed in a disturbingly public manner on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, where he posts daily evidence of his mania. More often than not, Trump is in a rage over his having lost the 2020 presidential election, and is consumed by wholly unfounded fantasies that the the election was “rigged and stolen” from him.

That was the topic once again on Friday as Trump unleashed a barrage of pseudo-tweets lamenting what he said was a “massive campaign fraud in the 2020 Election.” And true to form, his tirade was littered with lies. He began…

“The FBI has just confirmed that it has paid MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to Twitter, … but what they didn’t say was that it was for the purpose of changing the Election results, pushing Biden over ‘Trump.’ Wow!”

The reason that the FBI didn’t say anything about purposefully “changing the Election results” to hurt “Trump” (which for some inexplicable reason he puts in quotes) might have been because that never happened. What Trump is referring to in his badly deviated perception of reality is a disclosure in some recently revealed emails between Twitter staffers that acknowledged receipt of payment by the FBI for work they did to supply the agency with information that it requested. It was a routine and legally mandated payment that Trump, Elon Musk, and Fox News distorted as a political stunt to discredit the FBI.

Notice that Trump has wildly elaborated on the lies exhorted by Musk and Fox News. What began as false allegations that the FBI paid to suppress a bogus story that was tied to a Russian disinformation campaign, Trump turned into a plot to change the election results. That was Trump’s invention and was never even asserted in the “Twitter Files” document dump. But Trump was just getting started. He went on to whine that…

“The FBI used Twitter and Facebook to bludgeon the 2020 Election to Biden. Nothing Negative could be said about him, especially as it related to Hunter’s Laptop From Hell, and ONLY Negative could be said about me. They were illegally after ‘Trump’ at a level of ferocity, hate and yes, desperation, that has never been seen in our Country before. Other Media companies were involved also. The change in the Election was Complete & Total, with Millions of votes switched, at least 17%. TRUMP WON, BIG!”

As usual Trump, in his hyperbolic hysteria, characterizes all of his bizarre claims as atrocities that have “never been seen in our Country before.” And he is, as always, the whining target of unending paranoid “ferocity [and] hate.” Here he escalates his baseless accusation to assert that “Millions of votes switched,” and comes up with a figure of 17% that he pulled straight of his asinine imagination. From there Trump launches into an all-caps harangue saying that…

“SO, WE CAUGHT THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES, THROUGH THE USE OF THE FBI & OTHER AGENCIES, CONCLUSIVELY & IRREFUTABLY CHEATING ON THE 2020 Presidential Election, AND COMPLETELY & ILLEGALLY CHANGING ITS RESULT.”

Needless to say, no one was “CAUGHT” and no “CHEATING” was proved “CONCLUSIVELY & IRREFUTABLY.” Trump has had more than two years and sixty court cases to provide such proof, but neither he nor his legal toadies have ever managed to produce a shred of it. Trump closed this Trumper Tantrum reiterating the lie that…

“The Government of the United States changed our Election Result, and it just doesn’t get any worse than that. Just look at the damage that’s been done to our Country, and the World, in the last two years — It’s incalculable. TRUMP WON!!!”

It’s worth remembering that the FBI that Trump is accusing of switching votes was run by his hand-picked director, Chris Wray, who reported to his hand-picked Attorney General, Bill Barr. And if we are to believe Trump’s crackpot conspiracy theorizing, we also need to acknowledge that all of it happened while he was occupying the White House, but was either ignorant of the corruption in his administration, or incapable of handling it. Why would even Republicans want that kind of incompetent in charge of anything again?

Trump Sinks Into an ALL-CAPS Psychotic Meltdown Over the Potential Criminal Referrals He Faces

On Sunday it was reported that the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th Insurrection that was incited by Donald Trump met to discuss the prospects of issuing criminal referrals to the Justice Department based on the evidence they accumulated during months of hearings and testimony from hundreds of witnesses, including many who were Republican Trump administration insiders.

While the Committee wasn’t releasing any particulars about the discussions, panel member Adam Schiff told CBS’s “Face the Nation” that “we are all certainly in agreement that there is evidence of criminality here.” Sources say that the most likely targets of the referrals, other than Trump, would be former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, coup-plotting lawyer John Eastman, former Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey Clark, and Rudy Giuliani.

The referrals would be largely symbolic as Attorney General Merrick Garland has already appointed a special counsel to probe Trump’s crimes related to the Capitol Hill riots, as well as the classified documents that he stole, hoarded, and lied to the FBI about, at his Mar-a-Lago hotel/home. His fear of Special Counsel Jack Smith was evident in his public rage over the appointment.

Upon learning of the potential criminal referrals, Trump posted a frantic rant on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, yowling about unrelated matters that only hold significance in his twisted and frightened mind. In that state of derangement, Trump blasted in all-caps…

“HOW CAN THE JANUARY 6TH UNSELECT COMMITTEE MAKE CRIMINAL REFERRALS WHEN THEY HAVE’NT SPOKEN ABOUT, OR STUDIED, THOSE THAT RIGGED THE 2020 ELECTION, THE TROOPS NOT BEING BROUGHT IN BY PELOSI, OR NOW, THE ELECTION FRAUD DETERMINATIVELY REVEALED BY TWITTER? THESE ARE THE REAL CRIMINALS!!!”

This is about as emotionally distressed a statement as any Trump has made since his legal tribulations have intensified. He is plainly suffering extreme anxiety over the probability of being indicted and prosecuted. Consequently he raises objections that have no basis whatsoever in reality.

Trump knows very well that what he childishly calls the “unselect committee” had no mandate to study his unfounded allegations that the 2020 election was “rigged.” His own studies into the subject produced nothing after two years and more than 60 court challenges. He also knows that there is no truth to his claim that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi declined an offer of troops to defend the Capitol – from his own supporters. And the fraud that he asserts was revealed by the recently released “Twitter Files” lies only in his imagination, and that of Elon Musk and other Trump cultists desperate to find proof that Trump was, as always, the victim of bias by a clandestine cabal of evildoers.

As if all of that weren’t enough, Trump posted another delirious comment that actually makes him look even more insane than ever. Joining Fox News and other outraged Republican gloomsayers, upset at President Biden for getting WNBA star Brittney Griner released from Russia, Trump raged that…

“I turned down a deal with Russia for a one on one swap of the so-called Merchant of Death for Paul Whelan. I wouldn’t have made the deal for a hundred people in exchange for someone that has killed untold numbers of people with his arms deals. I would have gotten Paul out, however, just as I did with a record number of other hostages. The deal for Griner is crazy and bad. The taking wouldn’t have even happened during my Administration, but if it did, I would have gotten her out , fast!’

First of all, the likelihood that any of that is true is somewhere between zero and one percent. However, if we were to amuse ourselves by pretending to believe it, then Trump is confessing to abandoning an American hostage incarcerated in Russia, and that he would do the same if it were a hundred Americans. What’s more, we would have to accept the notion that he declined that deal without ever mentioning it, or even uttering Whelan’s name during his occupation of the White House, or at any time thereafter, until the Griner release. [Update: Former Trump aide John Bolton says that Trump did turn down an offer to release Whelan. If true, then he did abandon an American in a Russian prison]

Despite his claim to having turned down a deal to free Whelan, Trump still insists that he “would have gotten Whelan out.” “Would have?” Well then, why didn’t he? He had two years to do so. He also asserts that Griner wouldn’t have been arrested if he were in office. But Whelan was arrested in 2018, when Trump was in office. And as for his bragging about not making deals to release dangerous people, he must have forgotten that he made a deal with the Taliban in Afghanistan to release 5,000 terrorists in connection to the U.S. withdrawal, for a three month cease fire that the Taliban didn’t adhere to.

Trump’s fear is thick enough to slice with a MAGA bumper sticker. He knows that he is guilty of crimes related to the January 6th insurrection, the classified documents theft, tax fraud, election interference, and obstruction of justice. That’s evident in the increasingly unhinged posts he continues to make, as well as his determined avoidance of telling his own story in public and under oath. That’s not the behavior of an innocent man.
