Were Fox News and Tucker Carlson Directing and Bankrolling the Kyle Rittenhouse Defense?

The acquittal of the teenage vigilante, Kyle Rittenhouse, revealed some painful truths about the American justice system. Apparently a minor crossing state lines with an unlawfully possessed weapon to confront people protesting racial injustice, and killing two of them, is self-defense and perfectly legal. Hmm. Good to know.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Bullshit Factory

Right-wingers across the country are celebrating the pretend cop and medic, Rittenhouse, as a hero, despite his having murdered two unarmed men who were engaging in a lawful protest. Which is peculiar because when Ashli Babbitt was killed by an actual police officer while she was violently storming the Capitol, and threatening the lives of elected representatives and the Vice President, and trying to illegally prevent Congress from carrying out their constitutional duties, the same rightist politicians and pundits assailed it as an assassination.

However, an appearance on CNN by Rittenhouse’s attorney, Mark Richards, revealed something else that should raise serious concerns. Without any public disclosure, Fox News had abandoned any sense of of impartiality (as if they ever had any) by embedding itself with the Rittenhouse team days before the verdict. Even worse was that the reason Richards gave for granting Fox News that unprecedented access was to finance Rittenhouse’s defense. Richards made his remarks in the following exchange with CNN’s Chris Cuomo (video below):

Cuomo: Word that you guys had a film crew embedded with you from Fox News, from Tucker Carlson. I want to know why that decision was made.
Richards: I did not approve of that. I threw them out of the room several times…and I’m not suggesting that Fox or some other network…I don’t think a film crew is appropriate for something like this, but the people who were raising the money to pay for the experts and to pay for the attorneys were trying to raise money and that was part of it. So I think…I don’t want to say evil, but a definite distraction was part of it. And I didn’t approve of it, but I’m not always the boss.
Cuomo: Who were the people who were paying?
Richards: The people who were raising money. It was…this defense was crowd funded.
Cuomo: But who were the people making the calls about who got to have access to the process?
Richards: Kyle’s family and his adviser.

So while Tucker Carlson and the rest of the Fox News roster were lauding Rittenhouse as a paragon of White privileged, Second Amendment deliverance, they were also on the ground in Kenosha documenting their newfound protagonist and ratings magnet. And they were paying him for the privilege. Carlson began promoting his crocumentary within hours of the verdict, complete with Rittenhouse’s first post-acquittal reactions. “They’ve been there for days,” Carlson bragged, “putting together an installment of our Tucker Carlson Originals series on this case.” And he also announced that he would be airing the first Rittenhouse interview on Monday. How much do you suppose he paid for that? Carlson’s “Originals” was also responsible for his pro-insurrection propaganda piece, “Patriot Purge.” Or as CNN’s Jim Acosta called it, Proud Boy Porn.”

The revelations by Richards expose Fox News unethical participation in a propaganda campaign on behalf of an accused murderer while his trial was still in progress. And since the Rittenhouse family was getting paid by Fox, it’s fair to assume that there was agreement on how the case would be presented. What’s more, it raises additional questions about Judge Schroeder’s decision to ban MSNBC, a Fox News competitor, from the courtroom. How convenient was that?

The verdict in this case is going to result in people being “angry and concerned,” as President Biden said in his statement that also called for people “to express their views peacefully.” On the other hand we have Donald Trump telling Laura Ingraham on Fox News that…

“I don’t know Kyle. I watched him testify, which was very unusual that somebody would testify. I thought it was brave. I thought it was great that he testified.”

It’s cute that Trump thinks it is “brave” to testify, something that he refuses to do, or permit any of his accomplices to do. He won’t even allow the release of documents pertaining to his involvement in inciting the January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C. The only thing we can conclude from that is that Trump is admitting that he’s a coward.

Laura Ingraham’s Hysterical Dumbassery Shows Why Fox News Can’t Ever Be Taken Seriously

If there is one thing that Fox News has always failed at miserably, it’s comedy. Well, intentional comedy. They have actually been a fairly reliable source of unintentional laughs. That’s pretty easy with such mockable figures as Tucker Carlson (admitting that he doesn’t know WTF he’s talking about), or “Judge” Jeanine Pirro (competing with SNL for humor), or Peter Doocy (routinely humiliating himself).

Laura Ingraham, Fox News, Goofy

Now Laura Ingraham has elevated herself to the top of the spit(take) pile with a segment wherein she demonstrated how cognitively vacuous she is. Ingraham was hosting her frequent sidekick/guest, Raymond Arroyo, who is the “news” anchor of the Eternal Word Television Network. So right away you can expect a laugh riot. The subject was COVID vaccine mandates and Arroyo sought to make a point using a popular television program when hilarity ensued. Here is both the transcript and the video, but you’ve got to watch the video:

Arroyo: “I was watching an episode of “You” where measles came up.”
Ingraham: Wait, when did I mention measles?
Arroyo: I don’t know. It was on “You.”
Ingraham: What was on me? What are you talking about?
Arroyo: The measles and the vaccine episode was on “You.”
Ingraham: We never did a measles and the vaccine episode. Is this a joke?
Arroyo: I know. It was on “You.”
Ingraham: I’ve never had measles. What are you talking about?
Arroyo: It was an episode of a show.
Ingraham: What’s it called?
Arroyo: “You.” “‘You.” It’s called “You.”
Ingraham: I’ve never had measles. I just completely give up.
Arroyo: It’s a show called “You” on Netflix.
Ingraham: There’s a show called Laura Ingraham on Netflix?
Arroyo: Never mind. I’m moving on.

Is this Ingraham and Arroyo’s version of “Who’s on First”? Abbott and Costello must be rolling over in their graves – in hysterics.

While this video is comedy gold, it is also a reminder that Fox News should never be taken seriously. After all, if Ingraham is incapable of grasping the simple notion of a television show called “You,” how can she possibly be trusted to give a worthwhile analysis of epidemiology, or critical race theory, or economics, or foreign affairs, or climate change, or anything else?

Truth be told, Ingraham’s capacity to understand in this clip isn’t any worse than her understanding of any other subject she’s discussed on her show. And the same is true of Carlson, Sean Hannity, and the “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends. They all have the intellectual depth of Fox’s designated clown, Greg Gutfeld, and he isn’t exactly a candidate for Mensa membership.

Fortunately for Fox, their viewers are even lower on the scale of comprehension. That explains why they vote for Trump and Republicans like wannabe comedian Ted Cruz. It also explains why they are dying from COVID in far higher numbers than Democrats. So while there is humor in all of of this, there is also tragedy. What Fox News is doing to America isn’t really funny at all.

Rachel Maddow Fractures Fox News For Hawking a Horse Dewormer as a COVID Cure

Apparently it wasn’t bad enough that Fox News contributed to tens of thousands of deaths, and even more severe illnesses, by downplaying the severity of the coronavirus as a flu or a hoax. And apparently they weren’t satisfied with the suffering they’ve caused by convincing their glassy-eyed viewers that vaccines either aren’t necessary, or don’t work, or are constraints on their freedom imposed by autocrats intent on enslaving them.

Fox News, Cov-Aid

Fox’s efforts have led to what can now be accurately designated the Pandemic of Fox News.” Their primetime purveyors of pandemic bullpucky are clearly determined to propagate even more pain.

To that end Fox News began prescribing another phony cure for the plague that they’ve been reluctant to admit exists. Despite the potential for having a positive impact on their audience, Fox continues to prove that they just don’t care. Previously they tried hype hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malarial drug for which there is no evidence of efficacy treating COVID, other than the grossly misinformed word of Donald Trump. But now they’ve moved on to Ivermectin, a horse dewormer.

Yes, you read that right. And you aren’t the only one to be stunned by the sheer idiocy of this media quackery. When MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow heard about it she launched into a righteous condemnation of both the reckless advice and the Fox News advisors (video below):

“The Mississippi State Department of Health confirming today that ‘At least 70% of the recent calls to poison control in Mississippi have been related to livestock or animal formulations of Ivermectin, purchased at livestock supply centers.

“Why are people taking livestock formulations of Ivermectin Mississippi? That’s a horse dewormer. Literally, people won’t take the vaccine because they’re super suspicious of that, but they’re taking horse deworming medication that they’re buying at a feed store? For COVID? Why, on top of everything else Mississippi has to deal with right now, why are they dealing with this? I don’t know, but I have a guess.”

Whereupon Maddow plays clips of the three Fox News primetime hosts peddling Ivermectin to their viewers:

Laura Ingraham: We know that our FDA has in many ways failed us by not allowing for the use of Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine, both of which are used around the world to reduce COVID hospitalizations and death.
Sean Hannity: I pelted them with questions about COVID-19 and the vaccine and therapeutics hydroxychloroquine, Ivermectin … as well as other proactive treatments and practices that are already helping COVID -19 patients all across the country.
Tucker Carlson: On June 5th [Bret] Weinstein discussed the benefits of a drug called Ivermectin, which can and is used around the world to treat and prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Maddow then points out that there has only been one “significant” study connecting Ivermectin to COVID, but that it was withdrawn “because the data in it was apparently faked and the introduction to it was apparently plagiarized.” To date, no one on Fox News has withdrawn their advocacy of the drug. As Maddow noted in her closing…

“Nevertheless, Fox News is busy saying, ‘Don’t take the vaccine, but do take this horse deworming medication, trust us, it is proven.’ You could trust them or you could trust the FDA that says ‘Do not take Ivermectin for COVID.’ Or the NIH that says ‘Do not take Ivermectin for COVID.’ Or the WHO that says ‘Do not take Ivermectin for COVID.’ Even the company that makes the drug that says ‘My god, seriously people. Do not take Ivermectin for COVID.'”

You might think that that would finally be enough for Fox News to step back and retract their potentially lethal “reporting.” If so, you just know Fox News.

Fox News Spreads Racist Lie that Blacks are Most Responsible for Spreading COVID

Fox News is the undisputed leader in disseminating disinformation about the coronavirus pandemic. Their top primetime hosts persistently downplay the severity of the crisis that they belittle as nothing more than the flu. Simultaneously they disparage efforts to mitigate its proliferation by taking such common sense measures as getting vaccinated and wearing face masks.

Fox News, KKK

Fox’s status as America’s top pro-COVID “news” network is affirmed by research finding that Fox News viewers significantly trail viewers of other media in getting vaccinated. This is unsurprising considering that their highest rated program host, Tucker Carlson, has articulated the false and paranoid view that vaccines don’t work and “they” aren’t telling you. And Sean Hannity is singing the same hymn as he assures his audience that “I never told anyone to get a vaccine. I’ve been very clear. I am simply not qualified. I’m not a medical doctor.”

On Thursday night their colleague Laura Ingraham joined the choir with an interview of Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick. Ingraham was committed to providing Patrick with a platform to make implausible and brazenly racist excuses for why Texas is currently among the worst states in the nation suffering from a surge in COVOD cases and fatalities. And Patrick took full advantage of it:

Ingraham: They’re coming after your state cause the increased COVID numbers, hospitalizations, deaths, are up in Texas. And there’s a direct assault on your governor’s policies and your state’s policies. A very brief response.
Patrick: The COVID is spreading particularly, most of the numbers are with the unvaccinated. And the Democrats like to blame Republicans on that. Well, the biggest group in most states are African-Americans who have not been vaccinated. And the last time I checked, over 90% of them vote for Democrats in the major cities and major counties.

So it’s up to the Democrats to get, just as it is up to Republicans, to try to get as many people vaccinated. But we respect the fact that if people don’t want the vaccination, we’re not going to force it on them. That’s their individual right. But in terms of criticizing the Republicans for this? We’re encouraging people who want to take it to take it, but they’re doing nothing for the African American community that has a significant high number of unvaccinated people.

Ingraham’s question began by invoking sympathy for Patrick as a “victim” of unnamed nefarious actors “coming after” Texas and it’s policies that have made it a COVID hot zone. Notice that Patrick acknowledged that the unvaccinated are the problem, which sharply contrasts with his opposition to taking steps to mandate vaccinations or masks for those who refuse. However, he then immediately diverted his response to place the blame entirely on African-Americans, not just in Texas, but throughout the country.

Of course the blame that Patrick is casting on unvaccinated Blacks is shared by the Democrats for whom they vote. Patrick is shamelessly politicizing the issue by creating a wholly contrived distinction between Republicans and Blacks. He views the Republicans who don’t get vaccinated as freedom-loving patriots with free will. Blacks, on the other hand, he sees as trouble makers whose ignorance is responsible for exacerbating a deadly plague.

More to the point, Patrick’s core problem is that he is dead wrong about the biggest group of unvaccinated Texans. It isn’t even close. The Washington Post reports on “U.S. Census Bureau data collected in July and August that suggests unvaccinated White Texans outnumber unvaccinated Black Texans roughly three to one.”

Patrick is purposely conflating vaccination rates with the actual numbers of persons who haven’t been vaccinated. Anyone paying even glancing attention would know that the majority white population would harbor a much larger number of the unvaccinated. It’s true that some Blacks have been resistant to vaccines due to past experiences with a medical establishment that has exhibited patterns of systemic racism. But much of the conservative Republican cult is outright hostile to vaccines. And while Blacks can be persuaded with information from trusted sources, the white-wingers have hardened views that are cast in stone.

This attempt by Patrick, via Fox News, to cast blame for the pandemic surge on Blacks is just the latest example of their overt racism. They will always seek out ways to find people of color at fault for any and every problem. And this episode proves that even when the facts completely contradict their narrative, they will twist them until they find a way to them fit.

WTF? Laura Ingraham of Fox News Attacks New York AG Tish James for Report on Cuomo

On Tuesday morning the Attorney General of New York, Letitia James, announced the results of an independent investigation of allegations of sexual harassment by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The report was a damning account of the experiences of eleven women who asserted that Cuomo’s behavior was inappropriate, abusive, and created a hostile work environment.

Laura Ingraham, Fox News

In short, the report affirmed the charges by Cuomo’s accusers, calling them all credible. One might think that such a report would be cheered by Republicans and Cuomo opponents. It pretty much terminates Cuomo’s political career and demonstrates the neutrality and fairness of the Attorney General’s office.

However, leave it to Fox News to find an angle that manages to malign the Democratic Attorney General, even when she produces the results of an investigation that incriminates her Democratic colleague. Laura Ingraham took to Twitter immediately after the announcement was made to say that. “NY AG Letitia James will cite Cuomo to show she’s ‘balanced’ in her investigations as she continues to hound Trump, too. She wants Andrew’s job.”

REALLY? Ingraham is actually criticizing James for being independent and unbiased. That display of “balance” is portrayed as a flaw by Ingraham. And if James had buried the report, or manipulated it to let Cuomo off the hook, just imagine how infuriated Ingraham would have become by that partisan favoritism. So if James holds Cuomo accountable, she’s a political predator out for Cuomo’s job. But if she waives it off, she’d be a sycophant bending to Cuomo’s will. There’s no way that James could win in Ingraham’s diseased mind.

Underlying Ingraham’s utterly disingenuous criticism of James is her conspiratorial theory that James is merely setting the stage for a legal attack on Donald Trump. That, of course, is in the works and would proceed regardless of how the Cuomo affair shook out. Ingraham’s not-so-subtle ulterior motives are to discredit whatever James eventually finds regarding Trump’s criminality. So Ingraham is just building a defense for Trump in advance of what she herself presumes will be serious charges against him.

The problem with Ingraham’s preemptory Trump-fluffing is that she has completely misread the circumstances. She and the Trumpian Republican Party assume that Democrats will rush to the defense of Cuomo. They will be sorely disappointed when that doesn’t happen. Unlike Republican apologists for disgusting and unlawful behavior by their party members, Democrats are actually opposed to it and will stand on principle.

One example of that is how Republicans are currently letting Rep. Matt Gaetz (FL-QAnon) slide while he’s being investigated for pedophilia and sex trafficking. Fox News is pretending that he doesn’t exist. But the best example is Trump himself, who is a serial sexual predator who has been accused of harassment and assault by at least sixteen women. We’re still waiting for the GOP to show any signs of being troubled by that. And we’ll probably have to keep waiting. Republicans love their sexual deviants. But they will still pounce on Democrats like AG James who act morally.

For the record, here is how the White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, handled questions from Fox News hack Peter Doocy on the subject. Psaki: We do something new here that feels foreign from the last four years and allow the Justice Department to act independently on investigations.

Here’s Proof that Fox News Could Save Thousands of Lives If They Wanted To – They Don’t

The year long determination of Fox News to convince their viewers that COVID-19 isn’t anything to worry about has resulted in the coronavirus officially becoming the Pandemic of Fox News. They are, of course, parroting the purposeful lies of Donald Trump who repeatedly told his cult followers that it was either a hoax, a Democratic plot against him, or a piffling malady that is no more serious than the common flu. And he’s still doing it.

Fox News, Cov-Aid

Never mind that Trump has known from the start how deadly it is. His deliberate dishonesty fueled the aversion of his disciples to the vaccines that he simultaneously tried to take credit for. And Fox News backed him up all the way.

As a result, the cable news network that one watches is one of the best indicators of whether or not the viewer has been vaccinated. The percentage of Fox News viewers who have received the vaccine is 21 points lower than viewers of CNN or MSNBC. Fox’s top program hosts are staunch opponents of vaccinations that they regard as attempts by the government to control the population (by keeping them alive?).

Tucker Carlson tops the list with his frequent anti-vaccine messaging, such as his paranoia drenched claim that vaccines don’t work and “they” aren’t telling you. Likewise, Sean Hannity has sowed vaccine doubts by pretending to support the science, even while insisting that no one should listen to him. Which is actually pretty good advice.

However, if Fox News was interested in the welfare of the American people, they could have a profound impact on mitigating the suffering and fatalities of the pandemic. That impact was demonstrated recently when Tractor Supply posted a sign next to a horse dewormer they sell. The sign reads…

“A number of products we carry, including select dewormers and injectables, contain the anti-parasite active ingredient Ivermectin. Despite media report that Ivermectin could potentially be used to treat people with COVID-19, these products are not safe or approved for human use, and could cause severe personal injury or death.”

Both Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham have promoted the use of Ivermectin based on studies that have been discredit and retracted. Carlson “repeatedly downplayed the effectiveness of COVID vaccines while touting Ivermectin on shows in June and July.” And Ingraham hosted a dubious “expert” whose advocacy of the dewormer only served to further mislead Fox’s viewers and put their health and lives at risk.

So Trump’s MAGA devotees refuse to take recommended vaccines based on the fear mongering and admitted ignorance of Fox News pundits. They say that they’re afraid of what the vaccines might contain (microchips? Fetuses?) and what potential harm they might cause. None of which has been validated. But they will rush out to their local farm supply store to buy and consume a horse dewormer that is known to be toxic to humans?

If nothing else, this proves that Fox News has a frighteningly powerful impact on their viewers and influences what they believe and do. How many other alleged “news” purveyors could get their audience to reject medicine and swallow poison instead? Now imagine if Fox News would tell them to get vaccinated. Imagine if they reported the extraordinarily high efficacy and safety of the vaccines and how reliably they reduced the incidence of severe illness, hospitalization, and death.

The result of Fox News – and Trump for that matter – enthusiastically promoting the benefits of being vaccinated could save tens of thousands of lives. It could prevent further viral variants from developing that have to potential to defeat the protection that the current vaccines provide. And that would save even more lives among the millions who have already been vaccinated.

But in order for that to happen, Fox News would have to care about the welfare of the American people. They have to put people’s health above their own political and financial interests. In other words, don’t hold your breath. Fox News – and Trump – cannot be relied upon to do the responsible and ethical thing when they can exploit people’s suffering to advance their agenda of partisanship and greed. That’s been their mission from their inception, and it isn’t going to change now.

Watch Sen. Durbin Scorch the ‘Braying Chorus’ at Fox News for Defaming the Police

Every now and then a political leader expresses thoughts that are so compelling and compassionate that they need no elaboration. And in the wake of the first hearing of the House Select Committee investigating Trump’s January 6th insurrection, Sen. Dick Durbin delivered just such a speech on the floor of the Senate.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham

What follows is a transcript and video of Sen. Durbin’s inspirational condemnation of Fox News cretins Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham:

In an effort to plumb the depths of political meanness and irresponsible, it is just too hard to choose between Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham. First they became our nation’s leading anti-vax quacks making their specious arguments against life-saving COVID-19 vaccines and sowing doubt among their viewers who are literally putting their lives at risk because of lies that these two individuals [and Donald Trump] are spouting.

And now they are creating a braying chorus focused on the police who defended this building on January 6th. Their mockery of the bravery of the Capitol D.C. Police who risked – and some lost – their lives in the January 6th situation in this Capitol building is cowardly and shameful.

It took courage for the police to face the Trump mob. It takes no courage for these Fox talking heads to belittle these officers. It takes no courage to practice their well worn smirks reacting to the bravery in these pleas. It’s hard to imagine reading a press account of what they said yesterday and last night about the hearing that took place, the things that they did.

Ingraham gave the “Best Performance in an Action Role” to Washington Metropolitan Police Officer Michael Fanone, who during the testimony recalled hearing he’d be shot with his own gun. Ingraham said, and I quote, “Well there was certainly a lot of violence that day. But it wasn’t a terrorist attack. It wasn’t 9/11. It wasn’t the worst thing that ever happened to America. It wasn’t an insurrection.”

And then Tucker Carlson responding with a smirk to footage of Fanone telling the hearing he experienced Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Throughout the monologue Carlson piled on to his previous claims about the violence being just quote, “A political protest that got out of hand.”

First the vaccines. Now defaming the police. This is irresponsible from start to finish. I would ask those at Fox network – not exactly my friends and allies in politics – to show common decency and common sense. Common sense when it comes to these vaccines, which we know if more people were vaccinated we wouldn’t be facing this resurgent need for masks and fear of this new variant. And common decency when it comes to the men and women in uniform who risked their lives for this building, this Capitol, this democracy, and this government.

Certainly there’s freedom of speech, but let’s hope that good sense will dominate this discussion over at the Fox network as to whether these two ought to be allowed to continue their rant.

The only problem with Durbin’s eloquent address came at the end when he suggested that Fox News was capable of either common decency or common sense. Neither of those traits have ever been evident on the network devoted to right-wing lies and propaganda, to dividing America, and more recently to Donald Trump and his aspirations of tyranny built on pathological lies and malignant narcissism. Other than that, Durbin was spot on.

CNN’s Jim Acosta Comforts the Fox News Deplorables: The Circus is Hiring Clowns

The Trump Cult is preparing to greet Dear Leader this evening at his first rally since he was evicted from the White House by a significant majority of the American people. Donald Trump’s devotees are all atwitter (in more ways than one) in anticipation of witnessing another tediously repetitive harangue about the “fake” news, the “crooked” Democrats and, as always, how horribly he’s been mistreated by everyone.

Donald Trump, Pennywise

How Trump’s disciples tolerate his relentless whining is a mystery. But not only do they tolerate it, they admire it. Their cognitive processes are so defective that they soak up his fear and self pity and disgorge it as some twisted form of courage. They are primed for an extravaganza that promises to fulfill their most ardent wet dreams.

However, what Trump delivers is the type of “entertainment” one would expect to behold from under the Big Top. It’s all pomp and circus stance, complete with a soundtrack by the Village People.

CNN’s Jim Acosta made the same observation in a commentary that addressed some of the recent rhetorical aberrations of Fox News cretins Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham. They both attacked the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley, for having defended the military’s commitment to diversity and equity. Carlson, a coward who never served, called Milley “stupid” and “a pig.” Ingraham proposed defunding the Pentagon, leaving America defenseless.

“The Trump circus is back on tour again,” Acosta began. And “the former president is certain to roll out a clown car full of lies to the outrage of supporters.” Acosta then built up to a climax that roasted Carlson and Ingraham in epic fashion (video below):

“Pvt. Ingraham, Pvt. Carlson, what is your major malfunction? The General seems to have touched a nerve. Here is what is so threatening about Trumpism. It’s not just the ‘Big Lies.’ It’s about pitting one set of Americans against another. Over the election, over Critical Race Theory, or whatever the next unserious outrage theory that comes out of Fox News or Mar-a-Lago.

“If we stop fighting each other, and start embracing the truth, these guys over here, they’re gonna run out of things to talk about. And maybe even run out of money too. But hey, they could run off and join the circus. I hear they’re hiring clowns.”

The problem with Acosta’s assessment isn’t that he’s wrong. It’s that “fighting each other” isn’t merely collateral residue of Fox’s media strategy. It’s the preplanned intention. They are determined to create as much division and irrational hatred as possible. And they are having some limited success. A recent poll shows that 30% of Republicans believe that Trump is likely to be reinstated to the presidency this year, a constitutional impossibility. That’s far from a majority, but still a disturbing minority of acutely disturbed cultists.

Hopefully, Trump’s disciples will abandon their delusions in much the same way that children learn that the circus is a fantasy world created to provide some comedy and excitement to a comparatively staid existence. But expecting Trump’s already adult cult followers to grow up may be too much to hope for. Especially while he’s still peddling his shitshow as the “The greatest Witch Hunt in US history.”

Sniveling Trust Fund Baby Tucker Carlson Calls Joint Chiefs Chairman a Stupid Pig

Did you think you’d heard it all? After Donald Trump tried to prosecute Saturday Night Live for mocking him; or that he trusts Vladimir Putin more than his fellow Americans; or that his Capitol insurrectionists posed zero threat? Well, Tucker Carlson of Fox News wasn’t about to be outdone.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, QAnon

The Fox Network’s Senior White Nationalist has been on a streak lately. Just last week he unfurled a bizarre conspiracy theory that the FBI had orchestrated the January 6th riots in Washington, D.C. But now he’s going after the military, specifically, General Mark Milley, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (video below):

“Mark Milley is the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He didn’t get that job because he’s brilliant or because he’s brave or because the people who know him respect him. He is not and they definitely don’t. Milley got the job because he is obsequious. He knows who to suck up to, and he’s more than happy to do it. Feed him a script and he will read it. Here’s Milley yesterday, the man in charge of this nation’s weapons, explaining his working to understand a concept called “white rage.”

Whereupon, Carlson ran a video clip of Gen. Milley explaining the importance of being informed and conscious of the diversity in the ranks and the nation. Carlson dismissed it all as an attack on “white rage,” Something that, for personal reasons, Carlson wasn’t going to stand for. Milley said that…

“I do think it’s important for those of us in uniform to be open minded and be widely read. The United States Military Academy is a university. And it is important that we train and we understand. And I want to understand white rage. And I’m white, and I want to understand it. So what is it that cause thousands of people to assault this building and try to overturn the Constitution of the United States of America? What caused that?”

For the record, Gen. Milley served in combat in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He holds advanced degrees from Princeton, Columbia, and the Naval War College. He earned the respect of his colleagues as he was promoted through the ranks over a 30 year career to his current role as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Meanwhile, Tucker Carlson is a trust fund baby who never served, and the heir to a frozen TV dinner fortune, who was fired from three television networks (CNN, PBS, and MSNBC) due to low ratings, before landing on Fox News where his brand of racist hate-speech finally succeeded because “he knows who to suck up to, and he’s more than happy to do it.” Carlson’s rancid rant continued…

“Notice he never defines white rage. And we should know what it is. What is white rage? Well, like drapetomania, it’s one of those diseases that only affect people with certain melanin levels. It’s a race-specific illness. […] So Mark Milley reads Mao to understand Maoism, he reads communists to understand communism. But, interestingly, he doesn’t read white supremacists to understand white supremacy. Why not? Go to the source.”

If Carlson really wants to know what white rage is, all he has to do is watch his program for a few minutes. In the comment above he literally exhorts his audience to read white supremacist literature. Carlson is using his show to actively recruit for his Ku Klux cause.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that it took Milley’s defense of the Critical Race Theory (CRT) to trigger Carlson and Fox News to descend to the point where they are attacking the military. CRT is an academic study defined as an “attempt to understand how victims of systemic racism are affected by cultural perceptions of race.” But Carlson and Fox News aren’t about to permit that sort of understanding to be taught.

Carlson wasn’t alone in his assault on Milley. Fox’s Laura Ingraham joined in to propose defunding the military because of its attempts “to weed out so-called ‘extremists,’ which just means conservative evangelicals as far as I can tell,” It’s funny how any time someone mentions extremists or racists or traitors, right-wingers like Ingraham immediately assume that they are the subject of the discussion.

Not willing to be left out (of anything, ever), Trump also weighed in. During an interview on Newsmax Thursday evening, Trump, a five-time draft dodger, complained about Milley saying that “I watched his statement, it was pathetic!” That’s Trump’s way saying “Thanks for your service.”

It’s hard to imagine how Fox News can continue to provide a platform for the sort of rhetorical excrement that is the hallmark of Carlson’s program. Like Lou Dobbs before him, Carlson has driven away virtually all of his major advertisers, leaving just the MyPillow guy and a collection of reverse mortgage lenders and personal injury lawyers.

Unlike Dobbs, Carlson’s Anti-American Hour of Hate is still on the air. Which means that the Murdoch’s must be so enamored of Carlson that they don’t even care that they’re losing money. And that tells you all you need to know about Fox News.

Lethal Anniversary: Fox News Host Brags About a Year of Giving Deadly COVID Advice

The past year has been one that most Americans will recall as one of of the most unimaginable and unpredictable of their lifetimes. It’s a year that featured the devastation of a global pandemic, the dethroning of an aspiring dictator, the rise of a powerful civil rights movement, and innumerable alterations to the daily work and recreational activities that were once considered routine.

Fox News, Cov-Aid

However, there is one thing that remained remarkably stable during these surreal days of COVID. That’s the determination of Fox News to unrelentingly disseminate disinformation on behalf of the upper-crusty elites and power hungry right-wing politicos. And it was more than merely producing a constant barrage of flagrant falsehoods. The presenters on Fox News shamelessly doubled down on their deliberately dishonest propaganda, even when the truth was planted squarely in their faces.

Case in point, on Thursday evening Fox’s Laura Ingraham took her turn at contradicting the guidance of the nation’s health experts, including those at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). This is partly why studies found that watching Fox News increased coronavirus fatalities. While Ingraham was maligning the learned opinions of epidemiologists and public health professionals, she was concurring with her utterly unqualified colleagues like Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson.

What everyone at Fox News seems to agree upon is that the wearing of masks is not only unnecessary, but it’s potentially harmful and driven by a cabal of pharmaceutical companies, communists, and the same “Deep State” government operatives that stole the presidential election from Donald Trump.

It’s a downright diabolical plot by confirmed capitalists to keep the country locked down so as to crush capitalism. Don’t hurt yourself trying to make sense of that. And the same goes for what Ingraham said on her program Thursday night:

“For over a year this show has told you that, again, staying outside during COVID…is safe. And wearing masks outdoors, it’s now become a mental illness. and it’s brought on by the government’s worthless virtue signaling. And finally, some in the larger media and the medical community have begun to waken from their COVID slumber.”

That’s right. Ingraham is actually bragging that she has opposed the wearing of masks for over a year. Recall that last year at this time the coronavirus had resulted in about 42,000 deaths. So it was already a grim contributor to the suffering and grief of tens of thousands of American families. And Ingram is now taking pride in the role she played in increasing that death toll by over half a million (that’s 500,000 more).

What’s more, Ingraham continues to mislead her audience with admonitions against masks, despite the fact that the nation is still way below the needed percentage of vaccinated persons to achieve herd immunity, and COVID variants continue to emerge. And yet, she says that people who exercise caution and common sense are the ones who are mentally ill.

Finally, Ingraham seems to think that just because some doctors are beginning to revisit their guidance as vaccinations increase and transmissions decline, that they are waking “from their COVID slumber.” She apparently can’t comprehend the notion that prior guidance was justified by the facts at the time, and that new facts driven by the ever-changing science might produce new guidance.

This is especially true after a year has gone by wherein many Americans went to great lengths to behave responsibly. Now Ingraham and Fox News want to dismiss that sacrifice and risk reverting to a more perilous time by advocating for more ignorant and reckless behavior. That’s the lesson that Fox has learned after the past dreadful year. Ironically, this happens to be the one year anniversary of Donald Trump’s proposal to inject bleach as a means of treating the coronavirus. Perhaps Ingraham would like to revert to that.

Science has always been a challenge for Fox News and their viewers. They are far better able to absorb mindless buzzwords like “virtue signaling,” “cancel culture,” and a new one for the wingnuttery, “woke.” So Fox News regurgitates these manifestations of meaningless pop rhetoric while their cult followers consume it like colloquial candy. That’s how Fox keeps them addicted to the televangelism of Rupert Murdoch and the Trumpian Republican Party. And it’s how they put everyone else in the country – and the world – at greater risk.
