Fox News is On a Crusade Against the Women of MSNBC: Nicolle Wallace Edition

Fox News is apparently ending the year with a full court press against the women hosting programs on MSNBC. It wasn’t enough for them to have spent the year fluffing Donald Trump, by lying about the violent January 6th insurrection, and spreading deadly disinformation about the COVID pandemic.

Nicolle Wallace, MSNBC

On this last week of 2021 Fox News has already produced a hit piece on Joy Reid that was seething with hostility because she accurately reported that Fox is killing off their own audience. Then a few days later Fox posted a story attacking Rachel Maddow for being right about COVID vaccines. Both of these stories were glaringly biased and packed with ultra-conservative perspectives and flagrant lies.

At first glance it didn’t appear to be anything out of the ordinary for Fox News. Their bitter animosity toward Democratic principles and progressive politics isn’t exactly breaking news. And Fox often takes petty swipes at their cable news competitors. But it is now apparent that there has been some openly misogynistic coordination to these stories. Fox just added MSNBC’s popular daytime host, Nicolle Wallace, to their enemies list.

A new article published on the Fox News website blasted a headline that proclaimed that an MSNBC anchor was mocked as “shamelessly neurotic” and “embarrassing.” The article began saying that…

“MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace was roasted this week after referring to herself as a ‘Fauci groupie,’ in reference to her adoration of White House Chief Medical Adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci.”

Oh my heavens! Wallace had the audacity to express respect for America’s foremost infectious disease expert who has been working tirelessly to save lives. He was doing this even while Fox News hacks were comparing him to the sadistic Nazi Josef Mengele, and deploying grotesquely murderous metaphors urging people to “ambush” him in public and go in with the kill shot.”

The article by Fox News portrayed Wallace as being the object of widespread mockery for her comments. But in reality, it was only confirmed right-wing partisans who were hurling insults at her. Every single person cited in Fox’s hit piece was an unabashed wingnut. They included right-wing pundit, Ben McDonald; NewsBusters editor Tim Graham; conservative troll, Drew Holden; Daily Caller columnist, David Hookstead; conservative writer, Mark Hemingway; and right-wing actor, Nick Searcy.

It cannot be mere coincidence that Fox News has hammered out these assaults on three of MSNBC’s most prominent female personalities, all within the space of less than a week. Clearly the folks at Fox feel threatened by smart, engaging women who are effective communicators. So they are lashing out frantically to malign these intelligent, accomplished professionals. And considering the talentless hacks that litter the Fox News schedule, they are also likely writhing in jealousy. Or at least they should be.

Fox News and Their Partisan Shills Attack Rachel Maddow for Being Right About COVID Vaccines

The COVID pandemic in America is surging again thanks to the Omicron variant that began circulating a few weeks ago. And the Omicron variant began circulating thanks, in large part, to Fox News. The network has been the most significant purveyor of coronavirus disinformation which has resulted in studies showing that viewers of Fox News, along with supporters of Donald Trump, “have seen much lower vaccination rates and much higher death rates from COVID.”

Rachel Maddow, Fox News

The fact that watching Fox News is decidedly more life threatening than watching other news networks has not gone unnoticed at Fox. Unfortunately, they just regard it as a liberal media hoax and whine when they are righteously called out on it. Last week Fox News did a segment seething with hostility toward MSNBC’s Joy Reid because she accurately reported that Fox is killing off their own audience. This week it’s Rachel Maddow’s turn to be the victim of Fox’s misplaced fury. They posted an article on their website asserting that…

“Social media users demanded apologies from Rachel Maddow and MSNBC over the liberal host’s insistence in March that the COVID-19 vaccine stops the virus dead in its tracks and prevents further transmission.

“‘Now we know that the vaccines work well enough that the virus stops with every vaccinated person,’ Maddow said on her show the evening of March 29, 2021. […] ‘The vaccines,” she said, ‘will get us to the end of this.'”

The gist of the article was a specious criticism that Maddow was mistaken when she reported that getting vaccinated was the best protection from the virus and would eventually lead to a return to normalcy. But she was right. And in her unedited commentary Maddow correctly noted that if enough of the population were vaccinated, the pandemic could be brought under control:

“Instead of the virus being able to hop from person to person to person, potentially mutating and becoming more drug resistant along the way, now we know that the vaccines work well enough that the virus stops with every vaccinated person. A vaccinated person gets exposed to the virus, the virus does not infect them. The virus cannot then use that person to go anywhere else. It cannot use a vaccinated person as a host to go get more people. That means the vaccines will get us to the end of this, if we just go fast enough.”

Naturally, Fox News deliberately misinterpreted Maddow’s remarks. Their dishonest spin contends that she was saying that merely the existence of the vaccines would eradicate the virus. But she clearly stated that in order for the virus to be defeated, people would have to avail themselves of the vaccine, and to do so quickly. Only then would the virus be prevented from spreading and mutating.

These comments, which Maddow made nine months ago, prior to the emergence of the Omicron variant, have proved to be impressively accurate. As noted above, Fox News was instrumental in discouraging people from getting vaccinated. So they are directly responsible for creating an environment within which the virus could evolve into a form that is better able to evade the protection of the vaccines. In short, the reason we haven’t gotten past this is the purposeful lies and misguidance of Fox News.

That makes this article attacking Maddow all the more despicable. It’s Fox News battering Maddow for their own fatally bad conduct. And even the article’s principle claim that “Social media users demanded apologies from Rachel Maddow and MSNBC,” is brazenly biased and dishonest. They would have been more correct had they referred to “right-wing social media,” because every example they posted was a conservative media figure:

  • Clay Travis, right-wing radio host who replaced Rush Limbaugh said…
“It’s wild how there are no consequences for all these vaccine lies. If you wonder why many are skeptical of the covid “vaccine” it’s because they remember what they were told about how effective the vaccine was. All that Rachel Maddow says here is untrue.”
  • Dave Rubin, right-wing YouTuber said…
“But she was so sure of it as she read the script off the teleprompter!”
  • Rachel Campos-Duffy, Fox News host said…
“Will she retract her statement and apologize?”
  • Matt Birk, retired football player who thinks the CEO of Delta is more qualified than Dr. Fauci to shape public health policy said…
“I’m sure she’s admitted that she was 100% wrong. After all, she’s part of the media and they have an obligation to the truth.”
  • John Dennis, Republican politician who unsuccessfully challenged Nancy Pelosi said…
“@maddow, you owe an update to this video, don’t you think?”
  • Moms for Liberty, right-wing Twitter trolls said…
“Declared with such certainty. Our children have suffered because of the hubris of media. #UNMASKOURCHILDREN.”

As usual, Fox News provides only one side of the story – the moronic side. It’s what they do. And don’t expect them to apologize for maligning Maddow and MSNBC, because that would require that they have some some integrity and journalistic ethics.

Trump Aide Confesses Coup Plot with Bannon, Cruz, and 100 Congressional Co-Conspirators

The conspiracy by Donald Trump to subvert the Constitution and fulfill his authoritarian aspirations has been well documented repeatedly for the past year. He lost more than sixty lawsuits seeking to overturn the election results because his lawyers couldn’t provide a shred of evidence to support their claims of fraud. And his StormTrumpers domestic terrorism on January 6th failed bully Congress into capitulating to Trump’s power mad demands.

Donald Trump Tyrant Dictator

The evidence of Trump’s treasonous crimes was spelled out in a PowerPoint presentation circulated amongst the conspirators. Accomplices like Alex Jones admitted their complicity – and Trump’s also. And now one of Trump’s closest aides when he occupied the White House has come forward with yet another confession. According to The Daily Beast

“A former Trump White House official says he and right-wing provocateur Steve Bannon were actually behind the last-ditch coordinated effort by rogue Republicans in Congress to halt certification of the 2020 election results and keep President Donald Trump in power earlier this year, in a plan dubbed the ‘Green Bay Sweep.’

“In his recently published memoir, Peter Navarro, then-President Donald Trump’s trade adviser, details how he stayed in close contact with Bannon as they put the Green Bay Sweep in motion with help from members of Congress loyal to the cause.”

Navarro’s account of his own participation in an attempted coup included details about how he coordinated with Republican members of Congress such as Rep. Paul Gosar and Sen. Ted Cruz. But that was just the tip of the iceberg. Navarro disclosed that…

“‘We spent a lot of time lining up over 100 congressmen, including some senators. It started out perfectly. At 1 p.m., Gosar and Cruz did exactly what was expected of them,’ Navarro told The Daily Beast. ‘It was a perfect plan. And it all predicated on peace and calm on Capitol Hill. We didn’t even need any protestors, because we had over 100 congressmen committed to it.'” […]

“[T]heir hope was to run the clock as long as possible to increase public pressure on then-Vice President Mike Pence to send the electoral votes back to six contested states, where Republican-led legislatures could try to overturn the results. And in their mind, ramping up pressure on Pence would require media coverage.”

So Navarro’s “perfect plan” was to orchestrate a blatantly unconstitutional usurpation of Congress’ ceremonial duty to certify the election results, followed by having partisan state legislatures defy the will of voters by coronating Trump. And Navarro even affirmed Trump’s guilt in the plot, saying that he “was certainly on board with the strategy,, and noting that Trump referenced the plan during his January 6th speech when he told the crowd that “I hope Mike is going to do the right thing [and] send it back to the states to recertify.”

Navarro lamely attempted to distance himself from the violence that occurred on January 6th, but given the make up of the mob of rioters, and their connections to the plotters, that is just after the fact excuse making. It was Trump who ordered his minions to march on the Capitol.

As confirmation of Navarro’s media coverage strategy, he appeared on Fox News three days before the Trump insurrection on Capitol Hill executing that strategy. He and Fox’s Jeanine Pirro discussed the seditious plot that Navarro is now conceding took place:

Navarro: They stole this. We can prove it. And other things… Breaking news: I would not be surprised to see a special counsel on this. And Vice-President Pence, he has the authority to give that ten day window to do what needs to get done, and I cannot imagine when you look at the facts he won’t vote the right way on that.
Pirro: And you know Peter, the interesting thing is that ten day window, it is something that they can change the date. January 20th cannot be changed. That’s constitutional. But this whole certification, the date can be changed.

Setting aside the fact that they are completely wrong on the law, we now have contemporaneous confirmation of the coup plot as it was being carried out. We know that Trump was on board. So was Fox News. And so were many Republican members of Congress. And we know that Trump is still trying to pull off the plan. He’s still telling the “Big Lie” that the election was “rigged.” And he’s still trying to manipulate the media to achieve his nefarious ends.

Trump has even scheduled a press conference on the anniversary of the January 6th insurrection in order to advance his despotic desires. What we don’t know – despite the abundant evidence and open admissions – is when he and his accomplices will be brought to justice.

Rudy Giuliani Blasts ‘Fascist’ Fox News for Not Booking Him to Spread More of Trump’s Lies

The right-wing mediasphere has been struggling of late to keep from blowing itself apart. And the disintegration has been most prominently observable with Fox News, where many of Donald Trump’s most devoted disciples have taken to lambasting his longtime Ministry of Propaganda.

Rudy Giuliani

Trump himself has been throwing tantrums over what he regards is insufficient adoration from Fox. But the latest bomb thrower is Trump’s personal (unlicensed) attorney, Rudy Giuliani, who appeared Monday on the fringe conservative network, Real America’s Voice. Giuliani was interviewed by David Brody, who is also the chief political analyst for the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN). During the segment (video below) Giuliani expressed his dismay at having been banned from Fox News. He whined that…

“I made a lot of money on that channel from Fox. But they would not have been on in New York if it wasn’t for me having the courage to put them on against tremendous criticism. So they forget their friends pretty damn fast, I must tell you.”

Apparently Giuliani believes that unethically granting favors while he was mayor of New York City earned him perpetual appearance rights on Fox. And Fox is demonstrating an appalling lack of gratitude by failing to recognize that Mafia-style mentality of doing business. But he was just getting started…

“The thing I resent most is they won’t tell me why. I’m not being told why I’m not being allowed on. I’d like to know what it is that I said that they regard as not being true. We take the same position with regard to Dominion. We’re in the same lawsuit. I know they seem very frightened of George Soros, because I’ve seen other people interrupted and basically taken off because of George Soros.”

Giuliani actually seems to have answered his own question. He certainly does know why he isn’t being allowed on. His wholehearted embrace of Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was rife with fraud (for which they have been unable to produce a shred of evidence) has resulted in billion dollar lawsuits against Giuliani and Fox News by voting systems companies Dominion and Smartmatic And asserting things like his claim that he and Fox have the same position is precisely why Fox doesn’t want to have anything to do with him.

Then Giuliani goes further to insinuate the anti-Semitic trope that Jews like George Soros have some omnipotent control over the media and are responsible for his banishment and that of unnamed others. He doesn’t offer any proof, of course. And what rational person would believe that the ultra-rightist media baron, Rupert Murdoch, would bend to Soros on guest bookings or any other editorial decisions? But Giuliani still wasn’t done…

“It leaves me completely in a quandary to know why they’re playing kind of the fascist game that I’m used to with CNN. I mean, I don’t even consider them a news sources any more. They’re basically organs of the Democrat Party.”

Setting aside the obligatory insults aimed at CNN and Democrats, Giuliani actually hit on something truthful: That Fox News is fascist! Which is a statement that isn’t likely to make Fox more interested in inviting him back. For which he will still blame Soros.

Giuliani’s record is one of relentless lies and legal idiocies. After all, he lost more than sixty court cases asserting election fraud. And who could forget his affair at Four Seasons Landscaping? It’s a record that has already resulted in his law license being suspended in New York and Washington, D.C. And in addition to the lawsuits by Dominion and Smartmatic, he is also being sued by two election workers in Georgia who he viciously defamed. With a record like that, the only Fox show he can expected to be booked on is “Cops.”

Fox News is SHOCKED that MSNBC’s Joy Reid Rightly Berated Them for Killing Off Their Audience

The faux “journalists” at Fox News have long demonstrated that they have a virtually inexhaustible supply of contrived indignation. They stockpile it for occasions when they are justly accused of moral or ethical wrongdoing for which they have no plausible excuse. Then they unleash their manufactured wrath on those who have correctly criticized them.

Joy Reid, MSNBC

On Sunday’s episode of Fox’s MediaBuzz, host Howard Kurtz was worked up about a segment of MSNBC’s The Reidout wherein Joy Reid made an entirely appropriate observation about how Fox News has exacerbated the COVID pandemic by repeatedly lying about its severity and discouraging – and even mocking – common sense mitigating behavior such as wearing masks and getting vaccinated.

For instance, one of their top shills, Greg Gutfeld, recently upchucked a rancid rant advising his already deluded viewers to forego getting vaccinated or getting boosted because so-called “natural immunity” was better. Never mind that “doctor” Gutfeld’s diagnosis is contrary to all of the medical science on the subject. Likewise, Fox’s relentless campaign of coronavirus disinformation has resulted in a pandemic disparity wherein “counties that went heavily for Donald Trump have seen much lower vaccination rates and much higher death rates from COVID.

Which makes the segment on Sunday’s show all the more loathsome. Kurtz began by acknowledging that “the distrust of vaccines by some on the right is so deeply embedded that even Donald Trump can’t convince people that otherwise support him or follow him to get the shots.” Indeed, Trump was recently booed by his “fans” for admitting that he got the booster shot.

However, Kurtz did not acknowledge that the primary cause of the distrust he spoke of was lies propagated by Fox News. Then Kurtz entered into the following exchange with Emily Jashinsky of the ultra-rightist Federalist:

Kurtz: In his speech, Biden said people’s choices are affected by the dangerous misinformation on cable TV and social media. Okay, but here MSNBC’s Joy Reid went way further than that. Let’s take a look.
Reid (video): Probably the most vaccinated company in America is Fox News. They’re all vaccinated. They’re gonna live through this and let their viewers and their fans die. Because they don’t give a damn. It’s just clicks to them. They don’t care what happens. It’s just fun for them.
Kurtz: So Joy Reid says says Fox News wants you to die. What?
Jashinsky: And that’s exactly what she said. And this is just one of the many fireable offences she commits regularly on that show. Even though under normal standards those would be considered fireable offences. And she gets very little criticism from her peers. This isn’t normal. If somebody on the right said said this it would be a huge story because it’s so outrageous. It’s so extreme. And it’s a great example of why the left, why the Biden White House, why Democrats actually struggle to get those vaccine numbers up.

Kurtz’s response to Reid’s commentary materially misrepresented what she said. Reid didn’t say that “Fox News wants you to die.” She said that Fox is “let]ting] their viewers and their fans die. Because they don’t give a damn.” Letting them die is different than wanting it. Reid was making the point that Fox News was irresponsible and unconcerned with the deadly consequences of their politically motivated lies.

Jashinsky’s remarks were even more removed from reality. Since Reid’s commentary could be supported just by quoting Fox News hacks like Gutfeld and Tucker Carlson (who told viewers that the vaccines don’t work), it could hardly be grounds for termination. On the other hand, no one on Kurtz’s program bothered to mention the nauseating and truly fireable offences of Fox Newsers like Lara Logan (who compared Dr. Fauci to the sadistic and murderous Nazi “doctor” Josef Mengele), or Jesse Watters (who urged his viewers to confront Dr. Fauci and to go in with the kill shot. The kill shot with an ambush […] BOOM! He is dead.”).

The hypocrisy of Fox News is nothing new. It is a network that was founded with a mission to deceive and to advance the interests of the GOP (Greedy One Percent). And it has now evolved into the mouthpiece for the Cult of Trump and the authoritarian dystopia he aspires to rule over. What Reid said about Fox News is unarguably true, and Fox’s denial doesn’t come close to disproving it.

Rudy Giuliani and OAN Sued Over Election Fraud Lies. What About Trump and Fox News?

As we approach the new year, the soap opera featuring Donald Trump and his “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” continues unabated into its second insufferable season. And the cast of characters are thrust into evermore melodramatic scenarios as their nefarious acts are revealed to weary viewers yearning for the climax when they are all marched into prison.

Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump

The latest wrinkle in this script was played out Thursday with the news that Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, and his propaganda mouthpiece, One America News (OAN), are being sued by two of the victims of Trump’s election deceptions. According to Politico

“Two former Georgia election workers are suing Trump adviser Rudy Giuliani, One America News Network and several of the network’s top executives for pushing a series of debunked conspiracy theories about the workers’ role in the 2020 election that they said put them in physical danger and threatened their livelihoods.

“Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, her daughter, worked as poll workers counting ballots at State Farm Arena in Fulton County, Ga., during the November 2020 election. […] ‘As a result of their vital service, Ms. Freeman and Ms. Moss have become the objects of vitriol, threats, and harassment,’ they said in Thursday’s complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in Washington.”

Freeman and Moss were falsely accused by right-wing hacks of stuffing fake ballots into the election counting process. However, a fact-check at the time thoroughly debunked the sloppy and dishonest claims. Nevertheless, as Politico noted…

“Trump and his allies remained obsessed with the state, and with the lies they have spread about the election workers in Georgia. Trump mentioned Freeman by name in the now-infamous call he had with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in early January, where he tried to convince the election official to overturn his loss in the state.”

Trump’s Twitter ban defying spokes-shill, Liz Harrington, is still disgorging these lies. After Raffensperger posted an article that touted the accuracy of Georgia’s elections, Harrington sarcastically replied that it was “like Philly saying they’re the safest city in the country with the lowest murder rate.” But it was nothing like that at all. It wasn’t Raffensperger who assessed Georgia’s election efficiency. It was the ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation. Also, Harrington even got the info about Philadelphia wrong. It isn’t even in the top ten of cities with the highest murder rate.

All of this raises the question as to why Trump hasn’t been named in the lawsuit by Freeman and Moss. He has been relentlessly spewing accusations against the poll workers with no basis whatsoever. And his Ministry of Disinformation (aka Fox News) has been backing him up the whole time. In fact, Fox News has already been named as a defendant in billion dollar lawsuits filed by voting systems companies Dominion and Smartmatic.

Trump and Fox News have done real harm to individuals, companies, and the nation, with their flagrant and self-serving campaign of deliberate falsehoods. And they must be held accountable for that. The victims of their malicious mendacity have every right to be compensated for the damage done. And as these cases wind their way through the justice system, hopefully all of the evildoers responsible will be made to pay up – civilly and criminally. And first among them should be Trump and Fox News.

Trump Embraces Tucker Carlson’s Crackpot Theory that the FBI Staged the January 6th Insurrection

The deeper Donald Trump sinks into the legal morass of his own making, the more frantically he pushes preposterous conspiracy theories rooted in lies and intended to deceive and deflect. And more evidence of his criminal escapades comes out every day that is triggering his trepidations and tirades. He knows that the smoke that is swirling around him is an indicator of the fire that is soon to engulf him.

Flaming Trump

No wonder Trump is scared witless. Pending civil and criminal investigations are likely to result in Trump’s indictment and prosecution. His flunkies on Fox News were just exposed texting him during the January 6th insurrection that he incited. He just lost another court ruling forcing him to turn over his White House records to congressional investigating committees. And while he insists on Fox News that he doesn’t have anything to hide, he is suing to hide everything.

In light of all of that, Trump is spinning furiously to extinguish the blazing wreckage of his amoral existence. To that end he visited with an old and reliable Trump-fluffing ally, Candace Owens (video below). During their conversation they both endorsed one of the most ludicrous conspiracy theories currently floating around Trump World: The January 6th insurrection was a “false flag” operation orchestrated by the FBI.

This is an asinine and dangerous contrivance that has been peddled by Senior Fox News White Nationalist, Tucker Carlson for months. Carlson produced a crocumentary on the subject that was filled with flagrant falsehoods and slander. Nevertheless, Trump is now openly advancing this blatant bullpucky:

Owens: Everybody talks about January 6th. I actually want to talk about January 5th. […] We’re seeing the Tucker Carlson, Joe Rogan start to show that the FBI had some involvement in January 6. Were urging supporters to go toward the Capitol building. What is your assessment as you’re watching more and more of this information come out?
Trump: Well, I have been watching, and I’ve been watching it very closely. And a lot of people are being treated very unfairly. This should never happen in our country or any country, what happened to them. Especially when you look at the way the so-called other side is treated. But this pipe bomber or bombers – who knows if it was a pipe? Who knows what it was? They never found him? I’ve seen pictures of him and very clear pictures.

For the record, neither Carlson nor Rogan “showed” any evidence of FBI involvement in the Capitol riots. And Trump’s sympathy for those arrested for assaulting police officers, breaking through doors and windows, vandalizing the Capitol, and obstructing the lawful business of Congress, is nothing short of treasonous.

What’s more, Trump is demonstrating once again his unabashed dishonesty by lying about the Capitol pipe bomber (and, yes, they were pipe bombs). Trump says that he saw “very clear pictures” of the suspect. Which is peculiar because no such pictures exist. The FBI circulated photos of a blurry masked man:

Trump has totally bought into Carlson’s baseless contention that because there are still people who have not been apprehended, those people must be FBI agents. It’s just as accurate to surmise that they must be Martians. “Why aren’t they finding this pipe bomber?” Trump asked. “And how come other people haven’t been revealed?” And is JFK really dead? And who framed Roger Rabbit? Trump often tries to invent mysteries when he has nothing coherent to say. He’s still looking for Hillary Clinton’s emails, the DNC’s server, and Hunter Biden’s laptop.

During this “interview” Trump also repeated his claim that the real insurrection was on November 3rd, Election Day. That’s because he has a visceral hatred for democracy and sees fair elections as antithetical to his authoritarian aspirations. And he reprised his delusional belief that Black Lives Matter and Antifa were in the crowd antagonizing and agitating his otherwise peaceful cult disciples. Nearly a year has transpired and not a shred of evidence of that has been produced.

With all of these lies to spread, Trump has decided to hold a press conference on the anniversary of the January 6th insurrection. In reality, he’s just trying to steal attention for himself and away from the solemn observances that were previously scheduled by Congress and the White House.

Of course this gives Trump another opportunity to disseminate his sham version of the domestic terrorism that occurred on that awful day. If he actually does show up, look for him to unleash even more bizarre theories. Creating fictionalized renderings of reality is really all that he has left.

Fox News Host Tells Trump Cult Conference to ‘Go In With The Kill Shot’ Against Dr. Fauci

The descent of Fox News in the dystopian era of Donald Trump has been a chilling spectacle to behold. What was once a flagrantly biased right-wing propaganda outlet that shamelessly lied and twisted reality to advance the Republican agenda, has become a bona fide conspiracy spewing mouthpiece for fringe views and overtly hostile elements of the radical Trumpian right.

Jesse Watters, Fox News

It’s bad enough that Fox News has participated in disseminating Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him. And it’s unconscionable that they have recklessly dismissed the severity of the COVID pandemic (aka the Fox News Pandemic) and encouraged their viewers to reject life-saving mitigation such as getting vaccinated and wearing masks. And it’s downright treasonous that they engaged in purposeful deception to excuse and even condone the violent rioters who stormed the Capitol on January 6th. But Fox News has also deliberately contributed to the inflammatory climate of hostility that has produced threats and attacks on their political adversaries in the reality-based world.

Never satisfied with merely peddling lies and keeping their viewers mired in ignorance, a Fox News host has gone the extra mile to blatantly incite violence against America’s foremost epidemiologist, Dr. Anthony Fauci. Appearing at another super-spreader event thrown by the ultra-rightist, Trump cult front group, Turning Point USA. Fox’s Jesse Watters delivered a particularly nauseating address that contained irresponsible rhetoric that cannot be interpreted as anything other than a threat against Dr. Fauci (video below). Watters directed his audience of malleable-minded Trumpists to seek out Dr. Fauci in public and, when they find him, to confront him aggressively saying…

“Now you go in with the kill shot. The kill shot with an ambush…deadly. Because with an ambush he doesn’t see it coming.”

There is no justification for that sort of deliberately bloodthirsty language. It’s clear that Watters hopes to whip up his audience into an army of domestic terrorists to fan out across the country and threaten anyone that doesn’t submit to the Trump cult’s way of non-thinking. But Watters wasn’t finished. Just to make sure they got his message, he added…

“This is when you say ‘Dr. Fauci, you funded risky research at a sloppy Chinese lab. The same lab that’s thrown this pandemic on the world. You know why people don’t trust you, don’t you? BOOM! He is dead. He is dead.”

So Watters wants Dr. Fauci dead. And the audience cheered these remarks emphatically. Never mind that the script he prepared for his murderous robots was utterly inane. All Fauci would have to say in reply is “None of that is true, but thanks for sharing your opinion.” Then he could continue his meal assuming they didn’t kill him. But Watters still had more to say. He needed to remind his terror recruits what the ultimate purpose of this was…

“Now you get that footage to us, you get it to Fox. You get it to Human Events. You get it to Breitbart. You get it to Daily Caller. You get it to the Turning Point pipeline. Imagine Tucker Carlson teases that in the A block: ‘Coming up. Brave college student confronts Lord Fauci at dinner. Exclusive footage. Right back.’ Get us that. That’s what we want.”

Naturally, it’s all about producing even more propaganda that can be disseminated on Fox News and its wingnut media confederates. This is something that Watters is all too familiar with. He began his career at Fox as a smartass who did ambush interviews for Bill O’Reilly and showed his total lack of morals. For that he was promoted to hosting Fox’s daily The Five and his own weekend program. Also, Watters was working for O’Reilly when Dr. George Tiller was murdered after O’Reilly repeatedly called him “Dr. Tiller the baby killer.” So Watters knows the deadly power of his rancid rhetoric.

For the record, Dr. Fauci responded to this assault saying…

“That’s horrible. And that’s such a reflection of the craziness that goes on in society. The only thing that I have ever done throughout these two years is to encourage people to practice good public health practices: to get vaccinated, to be careful in public settings, to wear a mask. And for that, you have some guy out there saying that people should be giving me a kill shot to ambush me? I mean, what kind of craziness is there in society these days? That’s awful that he said that. And he’s going to go, very likely, unaccountable. I mean, whatever network he’s on is not going to do anything for him. I mean, that’s crazy. The guy should be fired on the spot.”

Indeed. Watters should be fired. So should Fox’s Lara Logan who recently compared Dr. Fauci to the sadistic Nazi “doctor” Josef Mengele. But don’t expect Fox News to show the slightest bit of responsibility or decency. That isn’t their style. They will continue to incite violence and spread lies because that’s the mission that has been dictated to them by their corporate masters, Lachlan and Rupert Murdoch. And their on-air missionaries – Watters, Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham, etc. – are all too happy to obey.

UPDATE: Not surprisingly, Fox News is defending Watters. They released a statement saying that “Watters was using a metaphor [and that] his words have been twisted completely out of context.” Yes, it was a metaphor. But no, it wasn’t taken out of context. The danger posed by crafting violent metaphors is real. There are zealots who will, and have, acted them out. Rational people in the media know this and would never use the sort of language that Watters used. Which makes Watters responsible for the hardship he has thrust on Dr. Fauci, and for any harm that comes to him if someone takes his words literally.

Fox News Clown Greg Gutfeld Pushes ‘Nature’s Vaccination’: Getting Infected with COVID

In its continuing pro-COVID mission, Fox News has unleashed another in their efforts to infect as many of their own viewers as possible. The disinformation spread by Trump and Fox News is affirmed in recent studies that prove that “Counties that went heavily for Donald Trump have seen much lower vaccination rates and much higher death rates from COVID.”

Fox News, Greg Gutfeld

These horrific statistics would justify referring to the surging coronavirus crisis as the “Pandemic of the Fox News.” And yet, the network is still advancing flagrant falsehoods that will assuredly lead to more suffering and fatalities. The latest example of that sociopathic disregard for life came during Friday’s episode of Fox’s The Five. Co-host Greg Gutfeld was compelled to relieve himself of some of the most ignorant commentary ever unleashed on the program. Which is really saying something.

In a monologue (video below) about the new Omicron variant that is rapidly spreading throughout the nation and the world, Gutfeld advised the already deluded Fox audience to forego getting vaccinated or getting the booster if they had already been vaccinated. He gushed…

“If you urge a booster for Omicron, does that mean you are actually going to end up preventing a more effective kind of vaccination – nature’s vaccination – which would raise the natural immunity in a safe way? But with a booster, that may not be that effective. Why would you get a booster against what is, effectively, could be a booster. Call me a quack, I don’t care.”

Fake Dr. Gutfeld is, as usual, talking out of his assumptions drawn from his utter stupidity. The notion of getting infected and recovering from COVID as “nature’s vaccination” is a potentially deadly option that has been debunked repeatedly. While an infection does produce antibodies, their strength and longevity do not compare with that of the actual vaccine. What’s more, you have to risk your life and the lives of others in order to go that route. But Gutfeld isn’t a quack. He’s a murderer. And he wasn’t through…

“Here’s the poop, literally. In Florida they looked at the samples of wastewater in Florida sewage and they found that 100% of the samples had Omicron in it. But not in the hospitals because people weren’t going to the hospitals with Omicron. Which means that everybody has it, but it’s so mild that people are handling it on their own.

Gutfeld’s analysis couldn’t be more ridiculous and dangerous. The data to which he is referring describes the results of wastewater testing where the Omicron variant was found in samples of the coronavirus. That doesn’t mean that “everybody has it.” It only means that where the virus was found it was of the Omicron variety. It wasn’t found in everybody.

Furthermore, the data doesn’t suggest that being infected with the Omicron variant would necessarily result in a mild illness. Gutfeld doesn’t bother to consider that the samples found might be from people who had been fully vaccinated, and that’s the reason the illness was mild. But Gutfeld’s advice is to reject vaccination, which would likely result in much more severe illness and possibly death. He also doesn’t consider the potentially tragic consequences for people who could be infected with the Delta variant that is still infecting and killing thousands. His toxic advice will only make that worse. He then went on to malign President Biden saying that…

“That’s what makes Joe Biden kind of a despicable non-leader. He hears of Omicron, high-transmission, low severity, and instead of trying to help America regain its sense of normalcy, he redefines it as a ‘winter of death.'”

So what Gutfeld considers a “despicable non-leader” is someone who cares about people and aspires to keep them from unnecessary harm and to save their lives. While Omicron is highly transmissible, it has not been found to be low severity. The data available at this early stage isn’t sufficient to draw that conclusion. Many of those infected by Omicron were vaccinated, which would lessen the severity. But one thing that has been determined is that those who have received the booster have a high degree of protection from serious illness, hospitalization, or death.

Gutfeld is putting lives at risk with his thoroughly unqualified medical advice. He even went further to disparage other methods of mitigating the harm from the virus, saying that “We know that masks aren’t necessary.” That’s the sort of idiocy that is all too rampant on Fox News. And it is unconscionable that the network – where everyone is required to be vaccinated, or tested daily – would disseminate such dangerous lies to their viewers. But then, it’s Fox News. And they subscribe to the pledge made by Gutfeld above: “Call me a quack, I don’t care.” They obviously don’t care.

Trump Celebrates the Season with Blatant Christmas Lies and Rancid Antisemitism

“Tis the season to be…” jawing hatefully about Jews and spewing self-serving falsehoods about Christmas. At least that’s how Donald Trump is spending his yuletide days as he makes the rounds of right-wing media to keep himself uppermost in the minds of his cult disciples.

Donald Trump, Santa, Coronavirus

Trump might be worried about the fact that his holiday “Sexual Predator Tour” with Bill O’Reilly is the season’s biggest flop. Or he may be trying to deflect from the news that his Fox News propagandists have revealed his dereliction of duty as his StormTrumpers assaulted the Congress. Or maybe he is upset at having his flagrant deceptions about the January 6th insurrection that he incited being “honored” with PolitiFAct’s “Lie of the Year” award.

Whatever the reason, Trump took to the airwaves to try to restore his irredeemably tattered reputation. And predictably, his desperate efforts only made things much worse. It began with an appearance on the Trump-fluffing Newsmax network for a softball interview with Mike Huckabee, a former GOP governor and pastor. Huckabee began by falsely claiming that “Americans went through a long period where people quit saying ‘Merry Christmas.’ It was all ‘Happy Holidays.’ You deliberately changed that.” To which Trump replied…

“When I started campaigning I said ‘You’re gonna say Merry Christmas again…They are saying ‘Merry Christmas’ again. That was a big part of what I was doing.”

So Trump is bragging that he sought to force people to recite a salutation that many of them don’t subscribe to. And this is something he regards “a big part” of his fetid White House occupancy. He was also proud of his theocratic order to “cancel” anyone who disagreed with his religious mandate saying “Don’t shop at stores that don’t say ‘Merry Christmas.” And he added absurdly that “Whether you’re Muslim, whether you’re Christian, whether you’re Jewish, everyone likes Christmas.” Like a mental patient having a vocal seizure, Trump said “Merry Christmas” eight times in this brief clip.

For the record, people were neither prohibited nor inhibited about saying “Merry Christmas” in the years prior to Trump’s unfortunate candidacy and election:

Following his visit with Huckabee on Newsmax, Trump called into the ironically named “Unholy” podcast. It was there that he felt comfortable enough to repeat some of the overtly anti-Semitic views he has held for decades. Without prompting, Trump unleashed this mess of bigotry:

“People in this country that are Jewish no longer love Israel. I’ll tell you, the evangelical Christians love Israel more than the Jews in this country. It used to be that Israel had absolute power over Congress. And today I think it’s the exact opposite. And I think Obama and Biden did that. And yet in the election they still get a lot of votes from Jewish people. Which tells you that the Jewish people, and I’ve said this for a long time, the Jewish people in the United States either don’t like Israel or don’t care about Israel. I mean, you look at the New York Times, the New York Times hates Israel, hates them. And they’re Jewish people that run the New York Times. I mean, the Sulzberger family.

Trump’s assertion that “evangelical Christians love Israel more than the Jews” is not only a disgusting lie, but it fails to note the reasons for evangelical support for the Jewish state. Their interest is based on the biblical prophesy that Jesus will return after the the apocalypse and the annihilation of Israel. They are literally rooting for Israel’s destruction.

Even worse is Trump’s claim that “It used to be that Israel had absolute power over Congress.” Trump is rehashing an old trope that Jews control the government. But oddly, he seems to be suggesting that that was a good thing and he laments that Obama and Biden put an end to it.

When Trump whines about Jewish people not liking Israel, what he is really complaining about is that they don’t like him. He even expressed his dismay that he could only pull about 25% of the Jewish vote. Then he closes with another old anti-Semitic trope that Jews control the media (i.e. the New York Times), and therefore, the media should be promoting what Trump mistakenly thinks are Jewish interests.

These heinous remarks by Trump are nothing new. They represent the views he has espoused for many years. And the Republican Party is fully on board with this blatant prejudice. It is a repugnant platform that delights the neo-Nazi and racist hate groups that comprise so much of Trump’s cult and the GOP base. And it is sad that Trump would exploit the holiday season to advance these loathsome views.
