Tucker Carlson of Fox News Says People Who Don’t Vote In Person Shouldn’t Be Allowed to Vote

The 2022 midterm elections are now only 78 days away. And Republicans are getting nervous considering the trending of polls that show Democrats gaining ground in both the House and the Senate races coming up.

Tucker Carlson, Fox News

Among the reasons for the Democrats’ optimism are the legislative victories they have enjoyed, passing bills on infrastructure, economic relief, healthcare, tax reform, climate change, gun safety, and more. President Biden is also presiding over lowering gas prices and easing inflation.

What’s more, the House committee investigating the January 6th insurrection is having a profound impact on Donald Trump’s already toxic reputation. For his part, Trump isn’t helping himself by having stolen sensitive national security materials from the White House and hiding them at his Mar-a-Lago bunker.

RELATED: Trump’s Lawyers Have a Shiny New Excuse for His Hoarding Classified Documents at Mar-a-Lago

Consequently, Republicans need to fortify their electoral flank by poisoning the political environment with fallacious allegations of fraud before a single vote has been cast. And naturally, the GOP’s Ministry of Disinformation, Fox News, is taking the lead.

On Friday’s episode of Tucker Carlson’s program he had a segment on the United States Postal Service, which he characterized as engaging in a nefarious plot of some sort. He warned that…

“The Postal Service is now actually taking an active and explicit role in our elections, but not on behalf of Trump. They have created a dedicated division to ‘handle election mail’ ahead of the 2020 [sic] midterms.”

OMG! The mail meanies are scheming to “handle election mail,” and worst of all, it is “not on behalf of Trump!” Even more alarming is that they are traveling back in time to meddle with the 2020 election. Carlson went on to foment more fear, asking…

“Why is there any mail-in balloting? If you can’t be bothered to get to the polls, why do you have a right to participate in democracy? I don’t understand. It’s just an invitation to fraud. they support it because it allows fraud. Why are Republicans putting up with this?”

So Carlson has an array of citizens whom he wants to stop from voting. They include the elderly, and the disabled, and soldiers, and students, and travelers. It also includes every resident of Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Vermont, and Washington, where they have only mail-in voting. And Carlson’s guest, conspiracy crackpot Chuck Devore, weighed in saying that…

“I don’t think people should be trusting the Postal service with their mail-in ballots […because…] you can send people to the house of voters and ‘help’ them with their ballots to make sure that they vote for the right people.”

Never mind that there is no evidence of this happening. It is likely something that Republicans do, so they assume that Democrats are doing it as well. There is also no evidence of mail-in voter fraud outside of a scattering of incidents that, as noted, usually involve Republican vote scammers.

The truth is that Carlson, Fox News, and the Republican Party know that Democrats are more likely to avail themselves of mail-in and early voting. That’s partly because Donald Trump has demonized the practice and made his cult followers suspicious of it. He did this despite the findings of his own administration that concluded there was no widespread voter fraud.

RELATED: GOOD NEWS: Trump Warns That With Mail-In Voting There Will Be No More Republicans

Trump, of course, is not above hypocrisy. While he frequently demands that only in-person voting should be permitted, he himself votes by mail. And he even advocates it for others when he thinks it will benefit him.

It’s a good thing that Carlson doesn’t get to decide who can and cannot vote. Unfortunately, there are too many GOP state legislatures who can decide. And they have been working tirelessly to suppress the votes of Democrats through gerrymandering and oppressive election processes.

As a result, Democrats have a huge burden to carry if they want to realize the gains that recent polling is showing for them. So those polls must not be an excuse to celebrate and relax. They must be motivation to work harder than ever to get patriotic Americans to vote on November 8th and save our democracy. And as an added incentive, the more people who vote by mail, the more Tucker Carlson (and Trump, and Fox News, and the GOP) will cry about being the losers that they are.

Trump Posts Hysterical Lie that ‘Everyone is Watching’ His Failing Twitter Ripoff, Truth Social

The desperation of Donald Trump continues to present itself with virtually every public comment he makes. As his legal peril escalates with investigations in progress in New York, Georgia, and Washington, D.C., Trump is amping up his attacks on anything and everything in order to wipe the slime from his brow and/or deflect attention from his crimes.

Donald Trump Pacifier Fox

In the two weeks since the FBI retrieved numerous boxes of classified material from his Mar-a-Lago bunker, Trump has frantically fabricated a stream of increasingly bizarre excuses for his illegally hoarding sensitive national security documents in the insecure basement of his Palm Beach hotel/home.

RELATED: Trump’s Lawyers Have a Shiny New Excuse for His Hoarding Classified Documents at Mar-a-Lago

Now Trump is lashing out wildly to change the subject again. On Sunday morning Trump took to his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, to whine about the “Fake News” correctly describing his social media scam as “little used.” He sobbed that…

“It’s amazing, I’ve had two stories — one in Politico, one in the Fake New York Times, where in the midst of the story, they say that I put my message out on Truth Social, a ‘little-used’ site with ‘few’ people watching. More Fake News. They know it’s now one of the hottest sites in the world, but they will never admit it, that’s why they call them the Fake News. Everyone is watching.”

What’s amazing is how brazenly Trump can lie without a hint of shame. The charge that Trump is making against the New York Times and Politico are based solely on the fallacies that fill his feeble mind. If Trump truly thinks that Truth Social is “one of the hottest sites in the world,” and that “they” know it, he is more cognitively collapsing than previously known. Also, the only ones calling the media “fake news” are Trump and his cult followers.

Trump’s post links to the ultra-rightist Washington Examiner as his source for these flagrant falsehoods. The Examiner just quotes an article on Vice News. Vice reports accurately that downloads of Truth Social did spike following the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago. But that was hardly anything to celebrate:

“In the week prior to the August 8 search of Mar-a-Lago, the Truth Social app was downloaded less than 20,000 times, averaging around 2,500 downloads per day from Apple’s app store.

“However in the week after the search, details of which were first announced publicly by Trump himself on Truth Social, it was downloaded 107,500 times, an average of 13,400 per day.”

Let’s put that into context. Twitter currently has more than two hundred million active daily users. Truth Social is hovering at about half a million. Which doesn’t really qualify it as a “hot” site. What’s more, Truth Social’s user data is sketchy at best. They report Trump as having three million followers, which is two and a half million more than the site’s total. He had 80 million on Twitter. Vice went on to say that…

“From the beginning, Truth Social has been beset by technical problems. There was initially a huge backlog of users who simply couldn’t get onto the platform. It was also only available on Apple’s platform; there is still no Android app available (it’s ‘coming soon,’ the company says) and registrations are currently closed for new users, according to the platform’s website.

For the record, the New York Times article that Trump appears to be referring to was about his childishly sarcastic “endorsements” of Democratic candidates Carolyn Maloney and Dan Goldman, who immediately rejected him. However, there doesn’t seem to be any Politico article that makes the claim that Trump is yammering about.

The bottom line is that if Trump really wants to spread his lies that Truth Social is a hotbed of online activity, he’s going to have to post them somewhere other than Truth Social where hardly anyone will see them. The site is ghost town. Which is, ironically, what Truth Social’s CEO, Devin Nunes, called Twitter on Fox News.

UH-OH: Trump Threatens ‘Major Motion’ Affirming His Grossly Ignorant Grasp of the Constitution

Nearly two weeks ago the FBI served a search warrant on the Palm Beach resort that Donald Trump calls home. What he deliberately mischaracterizes as a “raid” of Mar-a-Lago was a legal operation intended to retrieve national security documents that Trump had swiped from the White House as he was being booted out the door.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Constitution

In the days following the FBI’s visit, Trump and his protectors in politics and the press unfurled a litany of the lamest lies and excuses for his having violated the law and placing the country in peril. Even his own attorneys were proffering contradictory explanations for Trump’s crimes.

RELATED: Trump’s Lawyers Have a Shiny New Excuse for His Hoarding Classified Documents at Mar-a-Lago

Having failed utterly to present a version of events that approaches reality, Trump is now resorting to a tactic that he has used frequently in the past. He is threatening (pretending) to file a lawsuit to avenge the affront that he feels he has been victim to. Or is he? The statement Trump posted on his floundering Twitter ripoff, TRUTH Social, is a typically confused word salad that barely qualifies as coherent. He wrote that…

“A major motion pertaining to the Fourth Amendment will soon be filed concerning the illegal Break-In of my home, Mar-a-Lago, right before the ever important Mid-Term Elections. My rights, together with the rights of all Americans, have been violated at a level rarely seen before in our Country. Remember, they even spied on my campaign. The greatest Witch Hunt in USA history has been going on for six years, with no consequences to the scammers. It should not be allowed to continue!”

What Trump means by “a major motion” is anyone’s guess. Is it a motion in a proceeding that is already in progress? Is he announcing a new lawsuit? If so, against whom?

Trump’s whining about the FBI’s action being an “illegal Break-In” is preposterous. As is his reference to the Fourth Amendment. One of his incompetent lawyers probably read him part of the Amendment and Trump ran with it. The Fourth Amendment states that…

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue…”

Which is where Trump likely interrupted and demanded that his mangled interpretation of “justice” be sought as he made a “major motion” with his tiny hands to dispatch his lawyers on this fool’s mission. Had he listened to the rest of the Amendment, he would have heard that “no warrants shall issue…”

“…but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

Each and every one of those stipulations was met by the FBI in order to get a judge to signoff on the search warrant. Right-wing Republicans like to deceitfully edit the Bill of Rights to make it conform to their warped worldview. That’s why they only recognize the last half of the Second Amendment that says that “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed,” while ignoring the first half that species the requirement that it be within “A well regulated Militia”

Trump’s statement also employs his psychotic suggestion that whatever offense he thinks is directed at him, is actually an offense on all Americans. He would be correct if he just added to his argument “all Americans who break the law.” Instead, he tacked on his tedious whimpering about “Witch Hunts” and the long ago debunked lie about spying on his campaign.

RELATED: Trump Whines that the Media Didn’t Fall for the Durham Nothingburger About Clinton ‘Spying’

It’s astonishing that Trump’s cult followers haven’t gotten tired of his wretched and repetitious rants. He, and they, are stuck in a pathetic replaying of the same ponderous pleadings in a perpetual loop. And they are always about how he is such a victim of nefarious foes that, despite his superior intelligence and strength, he is always losing to. Which is one of the many reasons that he would make a really awful superhero.

UPDATE: It appears that what Trump might be referring to is a motion for the court to appoint a “special master” to review the materials retrieved by the FBI. That is hardly a “major” motion since the FBI is already employing a “filter team” for such reviews, which is essentially the same thing.

Trump’s Lawyers Have a Shiny New Excuse for His Hoarding Classified Documents at Mar-a-Lago

The Washington Post recently published a story that revealed the trouble Donald Trump is having securing the services of any reputable attorneys. Among those who have signed on are “a Florida insurance lawyer who’s never had a federal case, a past general counsel for a parking-garage company and a former host at far-right One America News.” Not exactly the A (or even D) Team.

Click here to Tweet this article

Rudy Giuliani

As a result, the legal acrobatics employed to extricate Trump from his magisterial morass are becoming ever more bizarre and harmful to his own ends. The stream of excuses given for his having bugged out of the White House with a few dozen boxes of highly sensitive national security documents have changed almost daily and often contradict each other. For instance…

  • Well, there were no documents at all.
  • Okay, there were documents but they were just personal mementos and family photos.
  • Okay, there were also documents that were official business that Trump took home to study.
  • Okay, Trump was allowed to have all of the documents, and besides, what about Obama?
  • Okay, Any classified documents were packed by someone else and Trump didn’t know what was in them.
  • Okay, the classified documents that were found were planted there by the FBI.
  • Okay, none of the documents were classified because Trump secretly declassified them.
  • Okay, they are still classified, but you can’t have them because they’re protected by attorney-client privilege.

RELATED: HUH? Trump Says Docs FBI Retrieved From Mar-a-Lago Were Covered By Attorney-Client Privilege

Now we can add a new reason for Trump absconding with these highly sensitive materials which, by the way, don’t have to be classified for Trump to be in violation of the law: He was protecting them and keeping them safe from some unspoken threat. No really. This is what his own lawyers are saying on television. Let’s start with what Christina Bobb, the former One America News host, told Laura Ingraham of Fox News:

Ingraham: Was there a limited number of people who had access to that storage room? It seems like a pretty important room, right? They made such a big deal of it.
Bobb: Yes. Certainly Mar-a-Lago is secure in and of itself. Just getting on to the compound is hard. And it was a locked door and getting back down into the basement, there’s security. You can’t just walk down there. Only certain members of staff can get there. Then there’s only one key.”

Well then, since there was a “locked door” there was surely nothing to worry about. After all, a locked door at a hotel is just as secure as the well-guarded, vault-like facilities on government property. And not just anyone can get into Mar-a-Lag. Well, unless they book a room, or are invited to a wedding, or are a Chinese spy. And is Bobb suggesting that the staff who do have access have all received security clearances?

There was another prominent Trump attorney who floated the same deranged defense for Trump’s criminal acts. Rudy Giuliani, who has his own legal problems, visited the Trump-fluffers at Newsmax and told them that…

“Now they want to make Trump responsible for having taken classified documents and preserve them. Really, if you look at the Espionage Act, it’s not really about taking the documents. It’s about destroying them or hiding them or giving them to the enemy. It’s not about taking them and putting them in a safe place that’s roughly as safe as they were in the first place.”

Well then, Trump was only being a concerned citizen seeking to protect the documents he took without permission, denied having, and refused to return after being subpoenaed. However, Giuliani is mistaken about the Espionage Act. It actually does prohibit taking such documents. And, once again, he can’t really believe that Mar-a-Lago is just as safe as the National Archives, can he?

RELATED: LOL: Trump Thinks the FBI Search of His Mar-a-Lago Bunker Has Boosted GOP Electoral Prospects

What makes the statements by both of these Trump lawyers troubling for their client is that they both amount to de facto confessions. They both admit that the documents Trump took were classified and/or required safekeeping. So, in effect, they are admitting that Trump broke the law and put the national security of the United States at risk. It will interesting to see them rebut themselves when this is brought up in court by whatever new incompetent lawyers Trump manages to dig up.

CNN Cancels ‘Reliable Sources’ – Brian Stelter Walks – As Network Leans to the Right

Thursday afternoon CNN announced that it is cancelling it’s longest running program, and the only credible media analysis show on TV, “Reliable Sources.” It’s host, Brian Stelter, has also announced that he will leave the network.

CNN, Brian Stelter, Reliable Sources

This Sunday will be the last episode of Reliable Sources. The decision comes shortly after CNN’s parent, Warner Bros., was bought by Discovery Networks, whose CEO David Zaslov is notoriously conservative. Discovery also has on its board of directors John Malone, a longtime right-winger and Trump supporter.

RELATED: Big Liar Donald Trump Lies Bigly that CNN Has Prohibited Saying the Phrase ‘The Big Lie’

The new company hired former “Late Show” producer Chris Licht to run the network. And while that might have seemed like a promising choice, Licht has been making statements about how he is more interested in cutting back on news analysis in favor of just presenting a dryer, context-free brand of straight news.

If they think that trying to stake out a neutral position is going to garner them more ratings or respect, they haven’t been paying attention. The right is going to demonize them no matter what they say if it less than wholly adoring of the right-wing, ultra-MAGA narrative. They already regard bland, non-partisan news readers like Wolf Blitzer as radical lefties. They think Joe Manchin is a socialist. Given the blind, knee-jerk biases of their conservative critics, it makes no sense to try to mollify them. Journalistic ethics requires a commitment to reporting the truth, even when it means calling liars liars. Especially when it means calling liars liars.

Reliable Sources has been an island in a rocky media sea where so many of the players are either slanted to the right or consumed by the need to “balance” stories with conservative lies just to avoid being perceived as “liberal.” CNN could not have picked a worse time ditch a program that helped people become more media literate. Phony neutrality will be perceived as weakness and will shortchange the audience who need more contextualization, not less.

The impact of this cancelation can be assessed by the reactions of the right-wing pundits who never watched it. Twitter was trending all afternoon with derogatory remarks about the program and its host that aren’t worth repeating here. Suffice to say that they were uniformly infantile and devoid of any actual substance.

For its part, Fox News had two stories about the cancelation on their website. They were titled “Brian Stelter out at CNN as network cancels media show ‘Reliable Sources'” and “‘Later, Tater!’ Twitter says goodbye to Brian Stelter after CNN cancels his show.” Both articles reinforced the Fox News hatred for professional journalism standards. And it’s notable that there were two of these articles on CNN, but not a single story on the website’s front page about the CFO of The Trump Organization, Allen Weisselberg, pleading guilty to 15 felonies. UPDATE: There have two more stories on CNN, but still no story on Weisselberg.

While right-wingers across the InterTubes are celebrating the news of Stelter’s departure as if it was an obituary, Stelter is actually going to be pretty busy. Setting aside whatever new TV role he may assume, he is currently a producer of “The Morning Show” on Apple TV+, a successful adaptation of his book, “Top of the Morning.” It stars Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carell, and has received eight Emmys and 53 nominations. He is also the author of the bestseller, Hoax: Donald Trump, Fox News, and the Dangerous Distortion of Truth.”

RELATED: CNN’s Brian Stelter’s Killer Video Mash Up: Tucker Carlson is the New Alex Jones

It is disappointing that CNN would cancel this unique program at this time. And it portends trouble going forward if they continue in this direction. The media is sorely in need of honest self appraisals. Reliable Sources did that covering TV, radio, print and the Internet. Now there aren’t any programs that are dedicated to that mission. It’s a sad state of affairs, and one that Stelter himself noted in his goodbye tweet…

“I loved anchoring @ReliableSources. It was a rare privilege to lead a weekly show focused on the press at a time when it has never been more consequential.”

UPDATE: Predictably, Trump has weighed in with his customary childish BS, saying that “Brian Stelter of Fake News CNN got fired because he lied, and lied, and lied – ABOUT ME. May he REST IN PEACE!” Of course, Stelter was NOT fired, he quit. And Trump can’t cite a single alleged lie. And Stelter, as noted above, is far from dead. Can’t the same about Trump.

Tucker Carlson of Fox News Unleashes Flagrantly Racist Attack on Black EPA Administrator

The Senior White Nationalist at Fox News is fulfilling the mission that he was hired for at the ultra-rightist propaganda network. Tucker Carlson has distinguished himself as the Fox News host most beloved by America’s hate groups and Klan members, and he isn’t the least bit shy about embracing that role.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Klan Hat

On Wednesday night’s episode of his White Power Hour, Carlson delivered another of his noxious screeds attacking people of color who had the audacity to excel professionally. You know, the uppity ones. This time his wrath was directed at Michael Regan, the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. In Carlson’s perverse mindset Regan couldn’t possibly have the qualifications or intelligence to do the job. He thought the same thing about other recent Black appointees by President Biden.

SEE: Tucker Carlson Rages for 12 Minutes Against Biden Nominating a Black Woman to the Supreme Court
AND: Tucker Carlson of Fox News Attacks Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre in a Brazenly Racist Rant

Carlson began by complaining that the just passed Inflation Reduction Act (which received zero votes from Republicans) was a farce. Despite it being heavily favored by majorities of the American people, Carlson overtly lied about it in order foment fear among his dimwitted viewers (video below). He raged that…

“The EPA alone gets more than $40 billion in this bill, including more than $30 billion for so-called disadvantaged communities. What are those? Well, they’re not really defined — people who voted for Joe Biden. So, what it really means is the EPA is going to spread more identity politics and race hate. Are you sick of that yet? The Biden White House is not sick of it. They’re all in.” […]

Carlson has a predictably knee-jerk animosity toward what he disparagingly calls “so-called disadvantaged communities.” Because anything that provides help for the disadvantaged is automatically evil in his beady eyes. What’s more, he assumes that “disadvantaged” means Black, and therefore it’s a race issue. Never mind that most low income Americans are White. Then Carlson goes on to say…

“So, who gets to define what disadvantaged is, a disadvantaged community? Well, that would be the EPA’s administrator, a guy called Michael Regan, This is a guy who’s in his late forties who has never had an actual job in his life, never worked for real business of any kind.” […]

For the record, after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in earth and environmental science, and a masters in Public Administration, Regan worked for the EPA for ten years. That was followed by eight years at the Environmental Defense Fund. Then he was the secretary of the Department of Environmental Quality for the state of North Carolina for four years. That’s more than two decades of experience in the field prior to being named to head the EPA. Apparently that’s not enough for Carlson. At least if you’re Black.

In an effort to malign Regan, Carlson quoted remarks he made on The Daily Show where he promised that…

“Everything I do at EPA is through the lens of environmental justice, contracting, procurement, air quality, water quality, land management, starts with ‘Are we protecting the least among us, those who have lacked political representation and those who have not been at the table for decades’?”

In Carlson’s view that suggests that “this is about spreading race hate as virtually everything they do is.” Which is pure projection as the truth is that everything Carlson does is about spreading race hate. It is a fact, though, that the most harm from adverse environmental policies falls on the poor, who are, once again, mostly White.

However, the question of race shouldn’t enter into this discussion. Relieving the harm caused by the anti-environment right-wing is a goal that aims to benefit all Americans regardless of race or any other deliberately divisive factor. But Carlson and Fox News insist on making it a racial argument because that is what excites their audience. Which is not surprising considering what Carlson recently admitted with regard to race and politics…

Spawnee Donny’s Fiancé, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Exalts ‘His Excellence’ Donald Trump in Maniacal Rant

Poor Donald Trump. Nothing seems to be going right for him lately. And true to form, the self proclaimed most fabulous whiner.” is whimpering about it incessantly. Whatever makes his cult disciples regard him as anything but a pathetic crybaby is a continuing mystery of modern political posturing.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Donald Trump, Kimberly Guilfoyle

So far, August has been a devastating month for Trump and his cult followers. A brief summary of his latest flops include…

In the face of this onslaught of catastrophes, Trump and his defenders are circling their wagons and pretending that everything is hunky-dory. Trump even thinks that the FBI scandal has boosted the prospects of his Republican confederates. And he’s not the only one.

Don Jr’s fiancé, Kimberly Guilfoyle, visited the pro-Trump propaganda network, Newsmax, on Tuesday and, in her inimitable the best is yet to come fashion, belted out a celebratory spiel that exceeded all standards of sanity, even for her. She was so over the top that even host Rob Schmitt tried – and failed – to cut her off (hysterical video below). Guilfoyle raged that…

“People love president Trump and they want him back in the White House. That’s what this is about. Time and time again president Trump has been exonerated. They have been pulling this stuff on him for six years, starting with illegally wiretapping him.”

There is so much wrong with that that it requires a bit of rational review. First of all, the only people who “love” Trump are the brainwashed disciples who have abandoned critical thinking and any adherence to truthfulness. And the only people who want him back in the White House are power hungry and/or frightened Republicans, and shadowy figures with phone numbers in Moscow.

Secondly, Trump has never been “exonerated.” In fact, he is a seething cauldron of guilt for crimes ranging from operating corrupt charities and universities, to bank and tax fraud, to election tampering, to obstruction of justice, to witness intimidation, and most recently to mishandling classified documents and lying to the FBI.

Furthermore, Guilfoyle is regurgitating the long ago debunked nonsense that Trump had been “illegally wiretapped.” It never happened, and was even refuted by Trump’s own Justice Department way back in 2017. That, however, didn’t stop Trump from lying about it some more as recently as February of this year. But Guilfoyle was just getting started. She went on to say that…

“[Trump] is singly the most persecuted person in American political history. People who are Democrats, Independents, Libertarians – whatever you want to say – they’re all coming out in droves to say they support the president. So all they have done is just magnify his excellence 10x more, to the point where the American people are begging, literally I see people every day begging him to run again in 2024. And we would only be so lucky as a country because he’s the only thing standing between them and us.”

Bragging that her sugardaddy-in-law is the “most persecuted person in American political history,” isn’t the defense that she thinks it is. Rather, it points to the abundance of criminal allegations swirling around him. And if Guilfoyle really believes that Democrats are “coming out in droves to say they support the [former] president,” she’s even more cognitively impaired than Trump is. Which would also explain her jarring pairing of the words “his excellence” in a sentence referring to Trump.

What’s more, Guilfoyle is just fanning the flames of cultism with her ludicrous assertion that people are “begging” Trump to run again. In fact, a recent poll shows that only 39% of registered voters expressed any such interest in another Trump candidacy. Likewise, she is elevating him to superhero status by claiming that he alone is “standing between them and us,” whoever they are. As for another Trump term in office, he has just provided a preview of what his agenda would be. And it isn’t pretty…

LOL: Trump Thinks the FBI Search of His Mar-a-Lago Bunker Has Boosted GOP Electoral Prospects

If there is one thing that we can always rely on, it’s that Donald Trump will push a grossly distorted version of reality for any event that has exposed his faults or fallings, or might have negative consequences for him if viewed honestly. This tendency on Trump’s part to reshape reality can manifest in episodes as absurd as his using a sharpie to redraw a weather map to conform to the lie he told about a hurricane’s path.

Donald Trump

Last week the FBI executed a legally issued search warrant on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago compound in Palm Beach, Florida. Ever since, Trump and his media mouthpieces have been attempting to spin the search as an abuse of power by an out of control administration. Never mind that they have been utterly incapable of explaining why Trump had numerous boxes of classified materials that he denied having and refused to return. And their stream of bizarre excuses got more outlandish with each new attempt to exonerate Trump and demonize law enforcement.

RELATED: Trump’s TV Lawyer Keeps Contradicting His (Variable) Excuses for Hoarding Classified Materials

After having failed pitifully to deflect attention from his criminal activities, Trump is now trying to claim that they were justified because they allegedly have had a beneficial effect on the electoral prospects of his fellow Republicans. He posted on TRUTH Social, his miserably failing Twitter ripoff, that…

“Republicans could win many additional seats, both in the House & Senate, because of the strong backlash over the raid at Mat-a-Lago. Polls are showing that some lost Republican territory over the last number of weeks has been more than made up with the unannounced Break In by the FBI, which should never have happened!”

First of all, Trump needs to learn how to spell the name of his home/golf resort. It isn’t MAT-a-Lago. More to the point, he is either reading some very obscure polls that can’t be found online, or he’s making up the polling data in his comment. Here are some results from a more reputable source that shows Trump’s endorsed senate candidates trailing nationwide in swing states.

In Pennsylvania Fetterman is beating Oz by double digits. Same thing for Kelly over Masters in Arizona. Plus Ryan is ahead of Vance in Ohio, Warnock is ahead of Walker in Georgia, Demings just pulled ahead of Rubio in Florida, and Beasley is tied with Budd in North Carolina. So where is there any evidence of the backlash that Trump is yammering about?

What’s more, a new poll by POLITICO/Morning Consult shows that more Americans are supportive of the FBI’s search of Mar-a-Lago. A plurality said that there was evidence that Trump committed a crime. A majority (54%) said the search was conducted because of mishandling of classified information. And more respondents said that they approve of the search by 49% to 37% who disapproved.

The poll also found another sign that Trump’s backlash exists only in his twisted imagination. A mere 39% of registered voters said that Trump should run again in 2024. Which is a pretty low number for someone who is regarded as their party’s savior. For Biden, 28% said that he should run in 2024. Which is also a low number, but then Democrats are not blindly indoctrinated cult members who regard their political leaders as messiahs.

It’s still a long ways to November and much can happen to affect the election results. Good polling in August should not be viewed as a signal to relax and coast to a presumed victory. Democrats need to remain engaged and staunchly committed to working hard to convince persuadable voters to back progressives at every level of government. And they need to make sure that Democratic voters actually cast their ballots before or on election day. Their are historical headwinds that favor the party out of power during midterms, and Democrats must not spike the ball before they’re in the end zone.

Tucker Carlson Actually Tells the Truth: White Supremacists = Trump Supporters

One of the most extraordinary things about how the right-wing communicates is how often they reveal the ugliest truths about themselves. Sometimes it’s inadvertent, sometimes it’s deliberate because they have no shame and, in fact, are actually proud of their noxious beliefs.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Klan

This chronic compulsion of conservatives to out themselves is frequently demonstrated by the Fox News Senior White Nationalist, Tucker Carlson. His sermons on the racist “white replacement theory” are a regular part of his nightly televised Klan rallies. At least that’s when he isn’t dening that white supremacy even exists.

RELATED: What White Nationalists? Tucker Carlson of Fox News Acts Like the Mob Denying There’s a Mafia

On Monday night’s episode of the Fox News White Power Hour, Carlson was all atwitter over the recent FBI search of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago bunker, where he had stashed numerous boxes of national security materials that he stole before being evicted from the White House.

In an interminably long rant that was ostensibly about the FBI search, Carlson expressed his outrage at what he calls “acts of aggression and hostility aimed at Americans,” by the Biden administration. He began by insisting that the search was not “a legitimate act of law enforcement,” and that the official explanations “make no sense at all.” However, those explanations were complete and simple to understand for anyone who isn’t willfully dimwitted: Trump was unlawfully in possession of classified documents that he denied having and refused to return. What actually makes no sense are the myriad excuses Trump and his media mouthpieces have floated for his unlawful hoarding of those documents.

In the course of Carlson’s harangue he revealed something about himself and all of the glassy-eyed disciples of the Cult of Trump. He confessed that…

“No American president has ever explicitly declared war on his own population. And yet, for the Biden administration it’s a near weekly occurrence. Here’s Joe Biden and his Attorney General Merrick Garland telling you that white supremacists – in other words Trump supporters, because that’s what they mean when they say ‘white supremacists,’ a term they have yet to define – white supremacists, Trump voters, are the single greatest terror threat the United States faces.”

Well, that was awfully considerate of Carlson to admit that “white supremacist” is just another way of saying “Trump supporter.” Not that most Americans haven’t already known that. Certainly the words and actions of Trump and his followers have affirmed it repeatedly. But it’s nice to have the most notorious racist spokesperson on Fox News explicitly confirm it.

For the record, what Carlson was referring to when he offered up comments by President Biden and Attorney General Garland were these quotes…

President Biden: According to the United States intelligence community, domestic terrorism from White supremacists is the most lethal terrorist threat in the homeland.

And…

Merrick Garland: In the FBI’s view, the top domestic violent extremist threat comes from racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists, specifically those who advocated for the superiority of the White race.

Those were both statements of fact that have been validated by domestic terrorism officials at the FBI during the Trump administration and under the supervision of an FBI director that Trump appointed. Apparently Carlson believes that the FBI, and Trump himself, are part of the “Deep State.”

Carlson’s commentary also alleged that “No American president has ever explicitly declared war on his own population.” Which makes one wonder where Carlson has been for the past six years. Donald Trump has done nothing but declare war on the American people. He has maligned them as radicals, communists, and traitors, determined to destroy the country. And he has leveled those charges against Democrats and Republicans alike.

What’s more, Carlson has literally accused the media of being “the enemy of the people.” And he, along with his Trumpified GOP, have disparaged every American institution from Congress, to academia, to medicine, to law, to religion, to entertainment, to family, to philanthropy, to business. They are all suspect as subversives for not showing sufficient adoration to Dear Leader Trump.

Yet somehow Carlson manages to manufacture an argument that casts Democrats as the villains. It’s par for the course for a professional propagandist so devoted to lying that Fox News successfully defended him in a lawsuit by saying that that there couldn’t be any defamation because “no reasonable person” would believe anything he says. Sadly, there are too many unreasonable persons soaking up Carlson’s slime.

Laura Ingraham of Fox News Ponders Whether It’s ‘Time to Turn the Page’ on Donald Trump

It’s getting harder and harder for the fawning cult followers of Donald Trump justify their defense of his criminal activities. Especially following the search of his Mar-a-Lago bunker where numerous boxes of classified documents were found that Trump had previously denied were there.

Fox News, Laura Ingraham

While much of the cult faithful remain devoted to their mango messiah, there are some notable cracks in the firmament. Among them are Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post and Wall Street Journal where recent editorials castigated Trump as “unworthy to be this country’s chief executive again.” And GOP Rep. Steve Scalise underwent an unexpectedly harsh inquisition on Fox and Friends.

The latest weak-kneed Trumpist rat to leap overboard is Laura Ingraham of Fox News. During a guest appearance on the podcast of fellow Fox News hack Lisa Boothe, Ingraham was somewhat less than her ordinarily obsequious self when discussing the future political prospects of Trump. She began by making the utterly bizarre contention that “People conflate Trump with people’s overall sense of happiness in the country.” Which really makes you wonder what “people” she’s been hanging around with. She continued saying that…

“Donald Trump’s been a friend of mine for 25 years, and I’m always very open about this on my show. But, you know we’ll see whether that’s what the country wants. The country I think is so exhausted. They’re exhausted by the battle, the constant battle, that they may believe that, well, maybe it’s time to turn the page if we can get someone who has all Trump’s policies, who’s not Trump.”

So Ingraham is speculating that the American people are tiring of Trump’s rancorous hostility and non-stop temper tantrums. And she wonders whether those noxious features of Trump’s rancid personality might be the cause of Trump’s low standings in the polls.

However, Ingraham is ignoring the fact that Trump has always polled lower than any president before him. But more to the point, she is oblivious to the fact that people might just despise him for his traitorous attempts to undermine democracy and overthrow the government. Ingraham may be throwing Trump under the bus, but not because he exalts himself as an American dictator. Only because she thinks his shtick is getting old.

Ingraham thinks that the American people support the Trump Doctrine of dividing people by racial hatred, enriching the already wealthy, despoiling the planet, and curtailing constitutional rights. She believes that they just want someone who will pursue that apocalyptic agenda with a smile.

In addition to Ingraham’s slight tilt toward tossing Trump, Fox News anchor Eric Shawn made a similar sidestep. In the introduction to a segment about the FBI’s search of Mar-a-Lago, Shawn floated the notion that Trump may have already exploited his unlawful possession of classified documents. Shawn asked…

“Did former President Trump try to sell, share the highly classified material to the Russians or to the Saudis, or others? Or were the documents innocently mishandled and stored because he thought he had a legal right to have them?”

https://twitter.com/CitizenFreePres/status/1558872010121392128

Shawn interviewed former intelligence officer and Russian expert Rebekah Koffler, who told him that “The real question, Eric, is what Russian President Putin has already done?” She added that Mar-a-Lago “is a counterintelligence nightmare.”, by which she meant that spies from Russia, China, and beyond may have already gotten their hands on information that Trump stored at his highly insecure golf resort.

These brief departures from Trumpian orthodoxy do not necessarily portend an all out betrayal of Trump by Fox News. They may just be seeding the water with chum to see what bites. And they are likely to revert to form on their next broadcast. In the meantime, the rest of the Fox roster (Sean Hannity, Jesse Watters, Mark Levin, Jeanine Pirro, Brian Kilmeade, etc.) are still firmly crouching in Trump’s corner. The network as a whole is too scared of their own viewers to change course now.
