Trump Endorses the Fascist Wannabe Dictator Viktor Orbán of Hungary Because – Of Course He Does

One of the most disturbing and destructive skid marks of Donald Trump’s ghastly occupancy of the White House was a foreign policy devoted to alienating America’s allies and embracing its enemies. He had a particularly perverse affinity for brutal tyrants such as Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jung Un, whose interests he always seemed to be pursuing.

Donald Trump

Now in exile from Washington for the past year, Trump is demonstrating that nothing has changed. He is still in awe of the authoritarians whose unchecked dominance he so envied. On Monday Trump released a statement (via his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill) officially endorsing the Hungarian fuehrer, Viktor Orbán. Trump gushed that…

“Viktor Orbán of Hungary truly loves his Country and wants safety for his people. He has done a powerful and wonderful job in protecting Hungary, stopping illegal immigration, creating jobs, trade, and should be allowed to continue to do so in the upcoming Election. He is a strong leader and respected by all. He has my Complete support and Endorsement for reelection as Prime Minister!”

The reasons Trump gives for his noxious endorsement are chillingly reminiscent of his praise for Putin and other oppressive strongmen. These despots are always portrayed by Trump as loving their country. Presumably it’s the same sort of love expressed by the insurrectionists sent by Trump to assault Congress on January 6, 2021. And naturally Trump is approving of the racist immigration policies of Orbán. However, he couldn’t be more wrong about the respect that he says Orbán enjoys. Quite the opposite. Orbán has antagonized and estranged his European neighbors.

What’s more, according to Human Rights Watch, Hungary’s parliament gave Orbán rights that allow him to rule “with unlimited power for an indefinite time.” He has the power now to strike down and/or implement laws by decree. And democratic elections have been suspended.

And if that isn’t bad enough, Orbán has consolidated control over the country’s judiciary and media. Reporters Without Borders has noted that oligarchs close to Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party control more than 80% of the media in the country, while private media is discriminated against and characterized as publishing “fake news.” No wonder Trump adores him.

It is not surprising, though, that Trump would pay tribute to Orbán. He is very likely taking his queues from Tucker Carlson of Fox News. Last August Carlson made a pilgrimage to Hungary to curtsy obediently before Orbán. Why wouldn’t he? The targets of Orbán’s hostility and lies are often the same as those that Trump and Fox News go after. CNN’s Jim Acosta reported on Carlson’s trek to the totalitarian dystopia.

So Trump is once again affirming that he is an anti-democratic, freedom-hating, friend to flagrant fascists. He even said so explicitly during his recent “Sexual Predators Tour” with Bill O’Reilly. Both Trump and O’Reilly had moments wherein they displayed their utter disgust for America. While discussing his record on foreign relations, Trump admitted that the world leaders he “got along best with were tyrants. For whatever reason, I got along great with them.”

“For whatever reason?” We know the reason. It’s because they are the people he relates to and most hopes to emulate. God forbid he ever gets another chance to. As the Republican co-chair of the House Select Committee investigating January 6th, Rep. Liz Cheney recently warned: Trump “clearly can never be anywhere near the Oval Office ever again.”

Twitter Suspends Marjorie Taylor Greene, but Allows Trump’s Shill to Keep Posting His Lies (?)

In the first week of January 2021, Donald Trump was banished from Twitter due to his reckless and relentless lies about election fraud. Twitter imposed the ban on January 8th, two days after Trump’s deadly insurrection on Capitol Hill, saying that “we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.”

Donald Trump

Now, almost exactly a year to the day, Twitter has also suspended Trump’s congressional lickspittle, Marjorie Taylor Greene. In Greene’s case the reason given for her suspension was “repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation policy.” Naturally Greene is fuming that “Twitter is an enemy to America,” and promises to “show America we don’t need them.” Presumably she will move over to one of the failing alt-Twitter sites like Gab, Parler, Gettr, or maybe Trump’s allegedly forthcoming TRUTH Social. Which is hysterically misnamed for an Internet site run by a documented pathological liar.

As satisfying as it is to see someone like Greene exiled from social media, it also highlights the shortcomings in how Twitter carries out the enforcement of their policies. Because if Greene is considered to be in violation of their terms of service, then how can Trump’s official spokes-shill, Liz Harrington, be allowed to continue posting his lies?

In the year since Trump’s suspension he has actually escalated his reckless rhetoric. He continues to make purposefully inflammatory comments online, at his cult rallies, and in appearances on fringe TV outlets like Newsmax and One America News (OAN). His rancid commentaries serve to encourage his glassy-eyed disciples to “stand by” for his prophesized and delusional political resurrection. It’s a prospect that even ultra-conservative Republicans are frightened by.

Nevertheless, with Harrington’s help, Trump has managed to maintain an online presence despite his exile from Twitter. That presence has been dominated by his relentless compulsion to lie and hurl infantile insults at his foes. And he continues to propagate his “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him. All in an effort to advance his aspirations of messianic tyranny. In lieu of tweeting, Trump puts out press releases with the same lie-filled histrionics that are identical to what he used to tweet. And those messages are being relayed to the Twitter-verse by Harrington.

Harrington is posting these incendiary outbursts despite Twitter’s stated policy of prohibiting anyone from attempting to circumvent a suspension. So Harrington is in flagrant violation of Twitter policies that call for suspension of the violator. Twitter needs to enforce their rules without prejudice or preference. Otherwise the rules are meaningless. And in Trump’s case, potentially dangerous.

There is simply no excuse for permitting Harrington to aid and abet Trump in circumventing his ban. While her reach is a pittance of the cult devotees that Trump roped in, the messages are just as dishonest and dangerous as if Trump were posting them himself. Twitter knows this and needs to do their job, enforce their rules, and ban Harrington and other offenders.

Liz Cheney Warns America that Trump ‘Can Never Be Anywhere Near the Oval Office Ever Again’

In a few days it will be the first anniversary of Donald Trump’s attempted coup and his violent January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C. In that time Trump and his seditionist cult disciples have only become more deranged and hostile toward democracy and America. To commemorate the occasion, Trump has scheduled a “news” conference that will certainly be devoid of both news and conferring.

Donald Trump, Fox News, QAnon

Trump’s media charade was purposefully scheduled as a distraction from the more solemn observances previously announced by Congress and the White House to honor the sacrifices of the heroes who defended the Capitol and democracy. His phony affair should therefore be ignored by the press since they already know that it will be nothing but more of the same self-serving, ego-satiating lies that Trump has been disgorging for the past year. Along with some new lies wherein he is buying into Tucker Carlson’s “false flag” conspiracy theory.

In a pre-anniversary interview on ABC News’ This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Rep. Liz Cheney explicitly articulated some of the reasons that the nation needs to be concerned about Trump and his persistent authoritarian aspirations. Cheney is one of two Republicans on the House Select Committee that is investigating the January 6th insurrection, and which has Trump fulminating in fear of what he childishly calls the Unselect Committee. Cheney’s words need little elaboration (video below):

“The Committee has first hand testimony now that he was sitting in the dining room next to the Oval Office watching the attack on television as the assault on the Capitol occurred. We know, as you know well, that the Briefing Room at the White House is just a mere few steps from the Oval Office.

“The president could have at any moment walked those very few steps into the Briefing Room, gone on live television, and told his supporters who were attacking the Capitol to stop. He could have told them to stand down. He could have told them to go home. And he failed to do so. It’s hard to imagine a more significant and more serious dereliction of duty than that.”

Not only did he not immediately tell his StormTrumpers to stand down, instead he waited for three horrifying hours and then told them that they were special and that he loved them. Cheney went on to assert that Trump’s failure to act could constitute criminal negligence. And she also made the point that…

“It’s important for the American people to understand how dangerous Donald Trump was. We know, as he was sitting there in the dining room next to the Oval Office, members of his staff were pleading with him to go on television to tell people to stop. We know Leader McCarthy was pleading with him to do that. We know members of his family – we know his daughter – we have first hand testimony that his daughter Ivanka went in at least twice to ask him to please stop this violence.

“Any man who would not do so; any man who would provoke a violent assault on the Capitol to stop the counting of electoral votes; any man who would watch television as police officers were being beaten as his supporters were invading the Capitol of the Unites States; is clearly unfit for future office. Clearly can never be anywhere near the Oval Office ever again.”

It wasn’t just members of his staff and family who were begging Trump to do the right thing. It was also his Ministry of Propaganda (aka Fox News) who were sending him frantic emails as the invasion was going down. And when asked if she shared Hillary Clinton’s recent statement that if Trump were to win a second term that could be the end of our democracy, Cheney answered simply…

“I do. I think it is critically important, given everything we know about the lines that he was willing to cross – he crossed lines that no American president has ever crossed before.”

There is no question that Trump is both dangerous and criminally negligent. And there is abundant evidence of it. But it’s still good to hear a staunchly conservative Republican saying it on national television. Now all we need is for the Attorney General to get the message and issue some indictments before Trump has a chance to cause more trouble.

Poor Crybaby Trump is Having a Terrible New Year, Trying So Hard to Blame His Failures on Biden

Congratulations America. We made it to 2022 despite the challenges and obstacles. While the COVID pandemic is still with us due to the lies of Donald Trump and Fox News, most of us who are not in Trump territory have been vaccinated and are likely shielded from severe consequences.

Donald Trump, Snowflakes

Sadly, the former reality TV game show host doesn’t seem to be sharing much joy this holiday season. although he was seen at a Mar-a-Lago Super-Spreader party, he neglected to wish his cult disciples a Happy New Year. In stead, he posted a message (via his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill) with s decidedly depressing – and typically dishonest – theme:

“The United States just set a record high for coronavirus infections. Remember when Biden said that he would quickly and easily solve this problem? How’s he doing? He now says that it is up to the states, not the Federal Government, exactly the opposite of what he said during the campaign!”

Notice that Trump is virtually rooting for the virus. He is downright gleeful that it is continuing to cause more misery and loss. The only thing he cares about is that it could cause political problems for President Biden. This isn’t the first time Trump has celebrated such suffering. And he persists in ignoring the painful reality that it is almost entirely his own supporters who are succumbing to severe sickness.

Trump asks his dimwitted devotees to “Remember when Biden said that he would quickly and easily solve this problem?” If they do, they really need to get into a drug rehab program. Because Biden never said any such thing. He said that he would fight to defeat the virus, and recognized that it would be difficult. It’s Trump who is always saying that all of things he failed to achieve would be achieved quickly and easily.

As for how Biden is doing? Well, over 240 million Americans (73%) have been vaccinated, and about 67 million (20%) have received the booster in less than a month. That is what is keeping hospitalizations and deaths down. And the only reason that there have been more deaths in 2021 than in 2020 is because 2021 started with a much higher population of infected people, and so many of Trump’s followers still refuse to get vaccinated or wear masks.

Trump is also lying about Biden saying that “it is up to the states, not the Federal Government” to resolve the pandemic problem. That’s a distortion that he picked up from Fox News. But the truth is that Biden told a conference of governors that the federal government by itself is not the solution. When Biden said that “there is no federal solution. This gets solved at a state level,” he was not dismissing any federal role. He was agreeing with the Republican governor of Arkansas, Asa Hutchinson, who said that “as you look towards federal solutions that will help alleviate the challenge, make sure that we do not let federal solutions stand in the way of state solutions.”

Biden elaborated on the need for a federal/state partnership saying that “My message to the governors is simple: If you need something, say something — and we — we’re going to have your back in any way we can.” He enumerated some of the ways that Washington was working with the states, from invoking the Defense Production Act to deploying FEMA. And he closed saying that “we’re going to get through it by working together.” So contrary to Trump’s warped misrepresentation, that is exactly in accordance with what Biden said in his campaign. And it’s just that sort of consistency and integrity that triggers Trump’s latent inferiority complex and contributes to his holiday whining.

Pro-COVID Pervert Jim Jordan and His GOP Judiciary Jackasses Throw Toxic Twitter Tantrum

There are many reasons to dread the horror of Republicans taking over the majority in Congress in 2022. Not only would they advance their wet dream of an authoritarian dictatorship headed by Donald Trump, they would pursue impeachment proceedings against President Joe Biden, which they have already proposed.

Jim Jordan

What’s more, a newly empowered GOP majority would stomp their boot heels down on the progress made by Democrats on the economy, and the fight against the COVID pandemic. And their most deranged fringe dwellers would assume positions of power.

Leading the crusade of the crazies would be Rep. Jim Jordan who, despite allegations of condoning the sexual abuse of students when he was a wrestling coach, stands to become the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee in a Republican Congress. That’s a post that would put him in charge of any investigations into the Biden administration, including impeachment.

The ignorant and irresponsible brand of leadership that Jordan would provide was illustrated on Thursday with a pair tweets mocking the proven efficacy of vaccinations and face masks to mitigate the harm of the coronavirus. In one posted by the official account of the JudiciaryGOP (for which he is the ranking member), the message was a terse “If the booster shots work, why don’t they work?”

That tweet was deleted for some reason (though preserved here). Perhaps because it was blatant disinformation that could result in untold fatalities. The facts are not in dispute. As Jeff Sites (Jordan’s Democratic opponent) pointed out in response to Jordan, there were 6.1 deaths per 100,000 among the unvaccinated, 0.5 deaths among the vaccinated, and only 0.1 deaths among the boosted.

The second tweet was posted by Jordan himself. It struck a similar theme asking “If masks and mandates work, why don’t they work?” Jordan retweeted a chart that showed the recent spike in COVID cases reported due to the Omicron variant. What he neglected to mention was that nearly all of the new cases were people who were not vaccinated. And the vast majority of the unvaccinated are Republicans and Fox News viewers. In fact, studies show that Trump supporters and Fox News viewers are the most likely to believe the sort of dangerously bogus disinformation that Jordan is spewing here.

So Jordan is wrong on both counts. Boosters do work, and they keep people from suffering severe illness should they have a breakthrough infection. Masks and mandates also work, and they prevent the virus from spreading among those who employ them. It’s the dimwits who listen to Fox News and Trump and Jim Jordan who are getting sick and dying. And Jordan’s tweets appear to be intended to make matters even worse for those deluded souls.

Fox News is On a Crusade Against the Women of MSNBC: Nicolle Wallace Edition

Fox News is apparently ending the year with a full court press against the women hosting programs on MSNBC. It wasn’t enough for them to have spent the year fluffing Donald Trump, by lying about the violent January 6th insurrection, and spreading deadly disinformation about the COVID pandemic.

Nicolle Wallace, MSNBC

On this last week of 2021 Fox News has already produced a hit piece on Joy Reid that was seething with hostility because she accurately reported that Fox is killing off their own audience. Then a few days later Fox posted a story attacking Rachel Maddow for being right about COVID vaccines. Both of these stories were glaringly biased and packed with ultra-conservative perspectives and flagrant lies.

At first glance it didn’t appear to be anything out of the ordinary for Fox News. Their bitter animosity toward Democratic principles and progressive politics isn’t exactly breaking news. And Fox often takes petty swipes at their cable news competitors. But it is now apparent that there has been some openly misogynistic coordination to these stories. Fox just added MSNBC’s popular daytime host, Nicolle Wallace, to their enemies list.

A new article published on the Fox News website blasted a headline that proclaimed that an MSNBC anchor was mocked as “shamelessly neurotic” and “embarrassing.” The article began saying that…

“MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace was roasted this week after referring to herself as a ‘Fauci groupie,’ in reference to her adoration of White House Chief Medical Adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci.”

Oh my heavens! Wallace had the audacity to express respect for America’s foremost infectious disease expert who has been working tirelessly to save lives. He was doing this even while Fox News hacks were comparing him to the sadistic Nazi Josef Mengele, and deploying grotesquely murderous metaphors urging people to “ambush” him in public and go in with the kill shot.”

The article by Fox News portrayed Wallace as being the object of widespread mockery for her comments. But in reality, it was only confirmed right-wing partisans who were hurling insults at her. Every single person cited in Fox’s hit piece was an unabashed wingnut. They included right-wing pundit, Ben McDonald; NewsBusters editor Tim Graham; conservative troll, Drew Holden; Daily Caller columnist, David Hookstead; conservative writer, Mark Hemingway; and right-wing actor, Nick Searcy.

It cannot be mere coincidence that Fox News has hammered out these assaults on three of MSNBC’s most prominent female personalities, all within the space of less than a week. Clearly the folks at Fox feel threatened by smart, engaging women who are effective communicators. So they are lashing out frantically to malign these intelligent, accomplished professionals. And considering the talentless hacks that litter the Fox News schedule, they are also likely writhing in jealousy. Or at least they should be.

Fearful Trump Lies About January 6th Committee ‘Witch Hunt’ in Pathetic Attempt to Hide His Crimes

The former reality TV game show host, and coward-in-chief, Donald Trump, has launched another twittered tirade against the House Select Committee that is investigating his role in the violent and deadly January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C. But Trump’s pitifully impotent tweet isn’t landing any better than his prior Twitter tantrums.

Donald Trump

The complaint by Trump is a tedious reprise of previous protests by the “most fabulous whiner” (in his own words), seeking to malign the congressional probe into criminal acts by Trump and his seditious confederates. The tweet (posted by Twitter ban defying spokes-shill) grumbled that…

“The Unselect Committee of Radical Left Democrats, and two failed Republicans, has just dropped a large portion of their request for my records and documents – a very big story even though the New York Times refused to put it on the front page. The reason that they dropped the records request is that they don’t want this horror show to happen to Biden and Hunter in three years. This also changes the entire complexion of their request, not that there are any documents that would be incriminating or a problem for me – but the Witch Hunt continues!”

Typical of Trump’s 2nd grade sense of humor, he thinks that calling the Committee “Unselect” repeatedly is a funny and effective epithet. But the thrust of his comment is the same as the frightened commentaries he’s posting for months. And while he claims that he has nothing to hide, he is suing to hide everything. But setting aside his fear and infantile insults, Trump’s statement is, as always, riddled with lies.

RELATED: WHUT? Trump Lies That He Wants the People He Told Not to Testify to Tell the Truth

To begin with, the Committee did not “drop a large portion of their request” for his records and documents. In fact, the Committee merely deferred a relatively small subset of the thousands of documents originally requested. What’s more, the reason for the deferral had nothing to do with President Biden or his son Hunter (as if that needed to be clarified). All of this was stated clearly in the official request:

“The documents for which the Select Committee has agreed to withdraw or defer its request do not appear to bear on the White House’s preparations for or response to the events of January 6, or on efforts to overturn the election or otherwise obstruct the peaceful transfer of power.”

So the Committee simply excluded documents that had nothing to do with their inquiry. That, contrary to Trump’s kvetching, was not a “very big story,” nor front page worthy. It certainly didn’t “change the entire complexion of their request.” However, Trump’s panicky reaction is pretty good proof that he is worried that there are indeed “documents that would be incriminating.”

REALTED: WATCH: Alex Jones Says His Orders for the January 6th Insurrection Came from Trump

And if any other evidence of his anxiety were needed, it could be found in the recent filing by his attorneys to obstruct the Committee’s investigation. Trump’s crack(ed) legal team is asking the Supreme Court to block the release of documents because the Committee chairman, Rep. Bennie Thompson, was quoted in an interview saying that…

“The committee’s investigation into Trump’s delay in calling for his supporters to end their rioting at the US Capitol could lead to a criminal referral to the Justice Department.”

In other words, Trump wants the Supreme Court to help him cover up his crimes. That’s an argument that he already lost when the case was before the DC Circuit Court of Appeals. It is entirely within the jurisdiction of Congress to examine unlawful activities in the process of drafting legislation.

But to Trump that’s a “Witch Hunt.” Although his argument would be much more persuasive if every investigation into hiss corrupt presidency didn’t catch him casting so many felonious spells with his coven of nefarious cohorts.

Fox News and Their Partisan Shills Attack Rachel Maddow for Being Right About COVID Vaccines

The COVID pandemic in America is surging again thanks to the Omicron variant that began circulating a few weeks ago. And the Omicron variant began circulating thanks, in large part, to Fox News. The network has been the most significant purveyor of coronavirus disinformation which has resulted in studies showing that viewers of Fox News, along with supporters of Donald Trump, “have seen much lower vaccination rates and much higher death rates from COVID.”

Rachel Maddow, Fox News

The fact that watching Fox News is decidedly more life threatening than watching other news networks has not gone unnoticed at Fox. Unfortunately, they just regard it as a liberal media hoax and whine when they are righteously called out on it. Last week Fox News did a segment seething with hostility toward MSNBC’s Joy Reid because she accurately reported that Fox is killing off their own audience. This week it’s Rachel Maddow’s turn to be the victim of Fox’s misplaced fury. They posted an article on their website asserting that…

“Social media users demanded apologies from Rachel Maddow and MSNBC over the liberal host’s insistence in March that the COVID-19 vaccine stops the virus dead in its tracks and prevents further transmission.

“‘Now we know that the vaccines work well enough that the virus stops with every vaccinated person,’ Maddow said on her show the evening of March 29, 2021. […] ‘The vaccines,” she said, ‘will get us to the end of this.'”

The gist of the article was a specious criticism that Maddow was mistaken when she reported that getting vaccinated was the best protection from the virus and would eventually lead to a return to normalcy. But she was right. And in her unedited commentary Maddow correctly noted that if enough of the population were vaccinated, the pandemic could be brought under control:

“Instead of the virus being able to hop from person to person to person, potentially mutating and becoming more drug resistant along the way, now we know that the vaccines work well enough that the virus stops with every vaccinated person. A vaccinated person gets exposed to the virus, the virus does not infect them. The virus cannot then use that person to go anywhere else. It cannot use a vaccinated person as a host to go get more people. That means the vaccines will get us to the end of this, if we just go fast enough.”

Naturally, Fox News deliberately misinterpreted Maddow’s remarks. Their dishonest spin contends that she was saying that merely the existence of the vaccines would eradicate the virus. But she clearly stated that in order for the virus to be defeated, people would have to avail themselves of the vaccine, and to do so quickly. Only then would the virus be prevented from spreading and mutating.

These comments, which Maddow made nine months ago, prior to the emergence of the Omicron variant, have proved to be impressively accurate. As noted above, Fox News was instrumental in discouraging people from getting vaccinated. So they are directly responsible for creating an environment within which the virus could evolve into a form that is better able to evade the protection of the vaccines. In short, the reason we haven’t gotten past this is the purposeful lies and misguidance of Fox News.

That makes this article attacking Maddow all the more despicable. It’s Fox News battering Maddow for their own fatally bad conduct. And even the article’s principle claim that “Social media users demanded apologies from Rachel Maddow and MSNBC,” is brazenly biased and dishonest. They would have been more correct had they referred to “right-wing social media,” because every example they posted was a conservative media figure:

  • Clay Travis, right-wing radio host who replaced Rush Limbaugh said…
“It’s wild how there are no consequences for all these vaccine lies. If you wonder why many are skeptical of the covid “vaccine” it’s because they remember what they were told about how effective the vaccine was. All that Rachel Maddow says here is untrue.”
  • Dave Rubin, right-wing YouTuber said…
“But she was so sure of it as she read the script off the teleprompter!”
  • Rachel Campos-Duffy, Fox News host said…
“Will she retract her statement and apologize?”
  • Matt Birk, retired football player who thinks the CEO of Delta is more qualified than Dr. Fauci to shape public health policy said…
“I’m sure she’s admitted that she was 100% wrong. After all, she’s part of the media and they have an obligation to the truth.”
  • John Dennis, Republican politician who unsuccessfully challenged Nancy Pelosi said…
“@maddow, you owe an update to this video, don’t you think?”
  • Moms for Liberty, right-wing Twitter trolls said…
“Declared with such certainty. Our children have suffered because of the hubris of media. #UNMASKOURCHILDREN.”

As usual, Fox News provides only one side of the story – the moronic side. It’s what they do. And don’t expect them to apologize for maligning Maddow and MSNBC, because that would require that they have some some integrity and journalistic ethics.

Trump Aide Confesses Coup Plot with Bannon, Cruz, and 100 Congressional Co-Conspirators

The conspiracy by Donald Trump to subvert the Constitution and fulfill his authoritarian aspirations has been well documented repeatedly for the past year. He lost more than sixty lawsuits seeking to overturn the election results because his lawyers couldn’t provide a shred of evidence to support their claims of fraud. And his StormTrumpers domestic terrorism on January 6th failed bully Congress into capitulating to Trump’s power mad demands.

Donald Trump Tyrant Dictator

The evidence of Trump’s treasonous crimes was spelled out in a PowerPoint presentation circulated amongst the conspirators. Accomplices like Alex Jones admitted their complicity – and Trump’s also. And now one of Trump’s closest aides when he occupied the White House has come forward with yet another confession. According to The Daily Beast

“A former Trump White House official says he and right-wing provocateur Steve Bannon were actually behind the last-ditch coordinated effort by rogue Republicans in Congress to halt certification of the 2020 election results and keep President Donald Trump in power earlier this year, in a plan dubbed the ‘Green Bay Sweep.’

“In his recently published memoir, Peter Navarro, then-President Donald Trump’s trade adviser, details how he stayed in close contact with Bannon as they put the Green Bay Sweep in motion with help from members of Congress loyal to the cause.”

Navarro’s account of his own participation in an attempted coup included details about how he coordinated with Republican members of Congress such as Rep. Paul Gosar and Sen. Ted Cruz. But that was just the tip of the iceberg. Navarro disclosed that…

“‘We spent a lot of time lining up over 100 congressmen, including some senators. It started out perfectly. At 1 p.m., Gosar and Cruz did exactly what was expected of them,’ Navarro told The Daily Beast. ‘It was a perfect plan. And it all predicated on peace and calm on Capitol Hill. We didn’t even need any protestors, because we had over 100 congressmen committed to it.'” […]

“[T]heir hope was to run the clock as long as possible to increase public pressure on then-Vice President Mike Pence to send the electoral votes back to six contested states, where Republican-led legislatures could try to overturn the results. And in their mind, ramping up pressure on Pence would require media coverage.”

So Navarro’s “perfect plan” was to orchestrate a blatantly unconstitutional usurpation of Congress’ ceremonial duty to certify the election results, followed by having partisan state legislatures defy the will of voters by coronating Trump. And Navarro even affirmed Trump’s guilt in the plot, saying that he “was certainly on board with the strategy,, and noting that Trump referenced the plan during his January 6th speech when he told the crowd that “I hope Mike is going to do the right thing [and] send it back to the states to recertify.”

Navarro lamely attempted to distance himself from the violence that occurred on January 6th, but given the make up of the mob of rioters, and their connections to the plotters, that is just after the fact excuse making. It was Trump who ordered his minions to march on the Capitol.

As confirmation of Navarro’s media coverage strategy, he appeared on Fox News three days before the Trump insurrection on Capitol Hill executing that strategy. He and Fox’s Jeanine Pirro discussed the seditious plot that Navarro is now conceding took place:

Navarro: They stole this. We can prove it. And other things… Breaking news: I would not be surprised to see a special counsel on this. And Vice-President Pence, he has the authority to give that ten day window to do what needs to get done, and I cannot imagine when you look at the facts he won’t vote the right way on that.
Pirro: And you know Peter, the interesting thing is that ten day window, it is something that they can change the date. January 20th cannot be changed. That’s constitutional. But this whole certification, the date can be changed.

Setting aside the fact that they are completely wrong on the law, we now have contemporaneous confirmation of the coup plot as it was being carried out. We know that Trump was on board. So was Fox News. And so were many Republican members of Congress. And we know that Trump is still trying to pull off the plan. He’s still telling the “Big Lie” that the election was “rigged.” And he’s still trying to manipulate the media to achieve his nefarious ends.

Trump has even scheduled a press conference on the anniversary of the January 6th insurrection in order to advance his despotic desires. What we don’t know – despite the abundant evidence and open admissions – is when he and his accomplices will be brought to justice.

Rudy Giuliani Blasts ‘Fascist’ Fox News for Not Booking Him to Spread More of Trump’s Lies

The right-wing mediasphere has been struggling of late to keep from blowing itself apart. And the disintegration has been most prominently observable with Fox News, where many of Donald Trump’s most devoted disciples have taken to lambasting his longtime Ministry of Propaganda.

Rudy Giuliani

Trump himself has been throwing tantrums over what he regards is insufficient adoration from Fox. But the latest bomb thrower is Trump’s personal (unlicensed) attorney, Rudy Giuliani, who appeared Monday on the fringe conservative network, Real America’s Voice. Giuliani was interviewed by David Brody, who is also the chief political analyst for the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN). During the segment (video below) Giuliani expressed his dismay at having been banned from Fox News. He whined that…

“I made a lot of money on that channel from Fox. But they would not have been on in New York if it wasn’t for me having the courage to put them on against tremendous criticism. So they forget their friends pretty damn fast, I must tell you.”

Apparently Giuliani believes that unethically granting favors while he was mayor of New York City earned him perpetual appearance rights on Fox. And Fox is demonstrating an appalling lack of gratitude by failing to recognize that Mafia-style mentality of doing business. But he was just getting started…

“The thing I resent most is they won’t tell me why. I’m not being told why I’m not being allowed on. I’d like to know what it is that I said that they regard as not being true. We take the same position with regard to Dominion. We’re in the same lawsuit. I know they seem very frightened of George Soros, because I’ve seen other people interrupted and basically taken off because of George Soros.”

Giuliani actually seems to have answered his own question. He certainly does know why he isn’t being allowed on. His wholehearted embrace of Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was rife with fraud (for which they have been unable to produce a shred of evidence) has resulted in billion dollar lawsuits against Giuliani and Fox News by voting systems companies Dominion and Smartmatic And asserting things like his claim that he and Fox have the same position is precisely why Fox doesn’t want to have anything to do with him.

Then Giuliani goes further to insinuate the anti-Semitic trope that Jews like George Soros have some omnipotent control over the media and are responsible for his banishment and that of unnamed others. He doesn’t offer any proof, of course. And what rational person would believe that the ultra-rightist media baron, Rupert Murdoch, would bend to Soros on guest bookings or any other editorial decisions? But Giuliani still wasn’t done…

“It leaves me completely in a quandary to know why they’re playing kind of the fascist game that I’m used to with CNN. I mean, I don’t even consider them a news sources any more. They’re basically organs of the Democrat Party.”

Setting aside the obligatory insults aimed at CNN and Democrats, Giuliani actually hit on something truthful: That Fox News is fascist! Which is a statement that isn’t likely to make Fox more interested in inviting him back. For which he will still blame Soros.

Giuliani’s record is one of relentless lies and legal idiocies. After all, he lost more than sixty court cases asserting election fraud. And who could forget his affair at Four Seasons Landscaping? It’s a record that has already resulted in his law license being suspended in New York and Washington, D.C. And in addition to the lawsuits by Dominion and Smartmatic, he is also being sued by two election workers in Georgia who he viciously defamed. With a record like that, the only Fox show he can expected to be booked on is “Cops.”
