DUH! GOP Tweet Admits that ‘The Republican Party Isn’t Going Anywhere’

The Republican Party is unarguably mired in a historically deep trench of disinformation, division, and cultist devotion to a deranged former reality TV game show host. They are at each others throats, voting to censure those deemed to be insufficiently loyal to Dear Leader, Donald Trump, as he conspires to skim donations from the Party to his own coffers.

Donald Trump, Republican, GOP

In the midst of this intra-party uncivil war, the party honchos are struggling to hold things together despite their pitiful incompetence. Remember, this is the party that chose to keep the leaders who presided over losing the House, the Senate, and the presidency. So it shouldn’t surprise anyone when the Party’s official Twitter account unloads this pathetic cry for help:

The video in that tweet features a brief exchange from President Biden’s press conference that Fox news found so appalling and boring. the GOP was so shaken by that, they felt compelled to respond. It provided nothing particularly newsworthy, other than a snarky quip by Biden about the GOP’s tenuous status as a political entity:

Reporter: Do you believe you’ll be running against former president Trump [in 2024]?”
Biden: Oh come on. I don’t even think about … I have no idea. I have no idea there will be a Republican Party. Do you?”

The GOP’s official response to that was the inadvertently honest observation that “The Republican Party isn’t going anywhere.”

Well, DUH! It’s been painfully obvious to most of the sentient world for the last five years (many more to be precise) that the GOP is going nowhere. They have been hijacked by an intellectually vacant television celebrity who pretended to be a billionaire, but who’s only real asset was his skill at running con games. And their agenda utterly ignores the needs of the American people, focusing instead on more guns and less voting.

Now the GOP (Groveling Old Parasites) are bowing down to Trump and making pilgrimages to Mar-a-Lago to kiss his ring. They are scared witless of angering him for fear that he might aim one his illiterate insults at them, or sic his cult followers on them during a GOP primary. It’s a display of cowardice unseen before in American politics.

Meanwhile, Biden’s throwaway line about the the GOP’s future has tied the party up in knots. But they utterly missed the more substantive remarks Biden made immediately afterward. And that’s the part that truly devastates the core raison d’etre of the Republican Party. He began by observing the hypocrisy of the GOP. “My Republican friends,” Biden noticed, “were worried about … the act that we just passed which puts money in people’s pockets.” He was referring to the popular American Rescue Plan that not a single Republican voted for. Biden continued…

“Did you hear them complain when they passed close to a $2 trillion Trump tax cut — 83 percent going to the top 1 percent? Did you hear them talk about that all? I love the fact that they’ve found this whole idea of concern about the federal budget. It’s kind of amazing.

“When the federal budget is saving people’s lives, they don’t think it’s such a good idea. When the federal budget is feathering the nest of the wealthiest Americans — 90 of the Fortune 500 companies making billions of dollars not paying a cent in taxes; reducing taxes to the point that people who are making — you know, if you’re a husband and wife, a schoolteacher and a cop, you’re paying at a higher rate than the average person making a billion dollars a year is — something is wrong. Their newfound concern.”

So the GOP ignored Biden’s eloquent criticism of the their elitist disregard for the welfare of the American people, and his attack on their flaming hypocrisy. But they latched onto his light-hearted recognition that the future is unknowable. Particularly for a party that has sold its soul to a carnival barking grifter. And that’s the sort of attention to detail that the GOP thinks will secure them victories in 2022 and 2024. Which is great news for the Democratic party.

Poor Peter Doocy Whines that Biden Didn’t Let Him Ask a Loaded Fox ‘News’ Question

The fact that Fox News continues to wonder why they aren’t respected as a journalistic enterprise is actually further evidence of why they aren’t respected as a journalistic enterprise. A real news organization would recognize how far removed they are from credible journalism. But Fox seems to be either completely unaware of it, deliberately dishonest about it, or desperately in denial.

Fox News, Peter Doocy

On Friday Fox News demonstrated perfectly why no one takes them seriously as a news source. Following President Biden’s press conference on Thursday, which suffered Fox News’ predictable, knee-jerk criticism, the right-wing propaganda network focused intently on the most significant news produced by the event: Mean Mr. Biden didn’t call on Fox’s pouting Peter Doocy for another one of his petty inquisitions. But Doocy wasn’t having it. So he complained to the manager (press secretary Jen Psaki), who promptly ate his lunch:

Doocy: Any time that the President has an event where he’s given a list of reporters to call on, Fox is the only member of the five networks in the TV pool that has never been on the list in front of the President. And I’m just curious if that is an official administration policy.
Psaki: We’re here having a conversation, aren’t we? And do I take questions from you every time you come to the briefing room? Has the President taken questions from you since he came into office?

Psaki responded to Doocy like he was wayward child, which was entirely appropriate. Any other news organization would have been embarrassed by such a petulant display of hurt feelings. What’s worse is that Doocy wasted his time in the White House Briefing Room to register his self-serving complaints, rather than asking substantive questions that might actually address important issues. He could have saved his whining for a private conversation with Psaki. But he wasn’t through yet. He later made the same lament on air:

“The President would have a list, usually of about five people, and those are the ones that he would call on […] If he decides to just stick to the list, then we are left out.”

So this is the clearly the overarching issue in America today, at least on Fox News. It must be resolved before considering any discussion of the COVID pandemic, immigration, voting rights, or mass murders. And Doocy’s confederates at Fox agree. Media Matters reports that “Eleven different programs have combined to mention how Biden did not call on Fox White House correspondent Peter Doocy at least 24 times.” They included Jesse Watters calling Biden “chicken,” and Sean Hannity complaining that Doocy didn’t get to ask his “important” questions. Even Donald Trump brought it up in his “interview” with Laura Ingraham.

No one at Fox News bothered to mention that the New York Times didn’t get called on either. And they didn’t whine about it afterward. And Fox conveniently forgets that, if anyone was chicken it was Donald Trump. He never once gave CNN or MSNBC an interview in four years as president. And he’s already done four phone-ins with Fox News from his Mar-a-Lago bunker since leaving office.

The real question isn’t why Biden didn’t call on Fox News. It’s why would he ever do so? You’re only supposed to call on journalists during a press conference. In a world where journalistic integrity was honored, Doocy and his ilk wouldn’t even be allowed on the press room. And the fact that he and his Fox gripers are making such a big deal of this is only further proof that they don’t deserve to be treated as bona fide reporters.

Biden’s press team recently articulated certain principles that, if followed, would result in having to ban Fox News from White House briefings. Which would surely make them more informative. In the meantime, enjoy this video where the Daily Show “FOX-splains” Biden’s 37,268 scandals so far in his two months of being president:

Trump Insanely Claims on Fox News that His Capitol Rioters Posed ‘Zero Threat’

Immediately following Joe Biden’s first presidential press conference on Thursday, Fox News launched into their knee-jerk chorus of carping and condemnation. But that was just a prelude to how it was amplified in primetime by Fox’s professional haters and their triumvirate of yapping pundits.

Laura Ingraham, Fox News

Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity both sought to portray Biden as struggling cognitively, which they’ve been doing unsuccessfully for months. Polling consistently found that most Americans considered Trump as the candidate who was mentally unsound (including this poll by Fox News). However, Laura Ingraham topped her confederates by booking an actual example of mental infirmity with her guest, the former reality TV game show host, Donald Trump.

No one will be surprised to learn that Trump predictably lashed out at Biden’s performance at his press conference. Trump can’t comprehend how a leader can calmly answer questions without lying, insulting reporters, or bragging about imaginary achievements. Trump also complained that the press was throwing softballs, something he gets every time he’s “interviewed” by suck-ups like Ingraham on Fox News, and yet he still swings and misses.

Ingraham’s Trump-fluffing segment was a tedious replay of pretty much every other appearance Trump has made on Fox News (four so far since he was evicted from the White House). He whined about how badly he’s treated by the media. He paid tribute to himself and the miracles he thinks he accomplished. And he spun bizarrely distorted versions of events that bore no resemblance to reality. That was particularly true with respect to his twisted recollection of the Capitol riots that he incited in an attempt to unlawfully and violently overthrow the election. He engaged in the following exchange with Ingraham:

Ingraham: Are you concerned that the U.S. Capitol after January 6th, has become a fortress, protecting the Capitol from the people who are actually supposed to be the ones in charge here, not the people who are sitting in the Capitol surrounding themselves by razor wire?
Trump: I think it’s disgraceful. It looks for the world to watch -.absolutely, it’s a political maneuver that they’re doing. It was zero threat. Right from the start it was zero threat. Look, they went in. They shouldn’t have done it. Some of them went in and they are hugging and kissing the police and the guards. They had great relationships. A lot of the people were waved in, and then they walked in and they walked out and, I’ll tell you what, they’re doing things to those – they’re persecuting a lot of those people.

Ingraham’s brazenly biased framing of her question began with the falsehood that Washington “has become a fortress.” She apparently hasn’t been paying attention as the fencing that was installed due to the violence of the Trump Insurrectionists, has already come down. When she finally got around to her question it was slanted to portray the besieged members of Congress, their staffs, the police, and other victims, as the invaders, and the hostile Trump Insurrectionists as “the people who are actually supposed to be the ones in charge.”

Trump naturally thought it was all “disgraceful,” a word that he spits out with deranged frequency as an all-purpose snitty adjective. And we’ll just set aside the “hugging and kissing” asininity as too ludicrous for a response. But what’s truly disgraceful is that Trump thinks the Capitol rioters posed “zero threat” as they rampaged through the seat of America’s democracy.

To Trump it was just some folks on a pleasure stroll, smashing windows and breaking down doors and battering people with flag poles and fire extinguishers, and assaulting them with tasers and bear spray. In Trump’s account, “they went in,” seriously injured about 120 cops, killing at least one, along with four other fatalities. Then “they walked out” after vandalizing public property and stealing items from the offices of Congress. That included a laptop computer stolen from the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, that the thief sought to sell to the Russians. See? Zero threat. They’re being persecuted.

These are the people that Trump praised as patriots saying that they were waving the flag (when they weren’t using it as a weapon) and they love their country (that they were literally attacking). For her part, Ingraham called the rioters “law abiding Americans” on her Wednesday program. Clearly Trump and Ingraham are suffering from the same psychotic delusions. If their idea of “patriotism” includes murder, assault, theft, vandalism, and malevolent chaos, they are the threat, on a level way above zero.

UPDATE: In the same interview, Trump tried to peddle his Big Lie about election fraud again. But Ingraham cut him off. Ya think that had anything to do with the just announced $1.6 billion dollar lawsuit that Dominion filed against Fox News?

SURPRISE! Fox News Dishonestly Slams Biden’s First Presidential Press Conference

For several weeks Fox News has been incessantly complaining that Joe Biden hasn’t held his first press conference as President. Never mind that for most of his two months as President Fox News has failed to air any of Biden’s speeches, or the White House’s daily press briefings, or any other of this administration’s media events, including the COVID-19 Response Team.

Fox News, Joe Biden, Fake News

On Thursday afternoon President Biden did hold a press conference (video below). And Fox News predictably covered it with open animosity and a strident negative bias. Immediately following the press conference Fox News got right to work complaining. The first commentary out the mouth of Fox’s John Roberts was that Biden had referred to notes a couple of times. That was so he could be certain he was giving accurate data on statistics.

So Fox News was, in effect, criticizing Biden for being too prepared. Donald Trump never had to worry about that since he was lying more often than not. When you’re making up answers accuracy isn’t much of a concern. One Fox shill whined that Biden scheduled his press conference for 1:15 pm ET, rather than prime time, which he said was standard. First of all, that isn’t true. Secondly, Trump’s first press conference was 20 minutes earlier. But most of all, fox News was hurt because Biden didn’t call on their in-house shill, Peter Doocy, for a loaded question:

Biden spoke for more than an hour, providing detailed responses to a broad array of questions. The topics ranged from the economy to the pandemic to foreign policy to voting rights to immigration to gun control to the filibuster, and more. But true to form, Fox News could only find fault, even where there was none.

For instance, Sean Hannity was lying in wait (with an emphasis on the “lying’) for one of the verbal gaffes that everyone knows Biden is prone to making. Hannity ignored all of the substantive answers Biden gave without ever once insulting the reporters, whining about fake news, bragging about phony achievements, or flinging flagrant falsehoods.

Hannity’s sole observation was that Biden misspoke about his preference for a filibuster rule that was in effect when he was a senator. Biden referred to his having “come to the United States Senate 120 years ago.” He was conflating the fact that the filibuster was implemented about 120 years ago with his point about prior Senate rules. This was an unremarkable flub for a life-long stutterer, and in context his meaning was clear.

Hannity, like most of his Fox News confederates, was only concerned with whatever distortion he could manufacture that aligned with his obsession to portray Biden as mentally unfit. One his colleagues, former Trump press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, set up the press conference hours earlier asserting that Biden was “prepared to just entirely ignore whatever is asked of him, and to pivot.” That turned out to be completely wrong. But it was exactly what one would expect from a professional liar like McEnany.

Sadly, Fox News viewers will likely only see the distortions they provide and never watch the entire hour of Biden’s fully coherent, detailed, and honest address. It’s a deliberate editorial policy to malign Biden and Democrats at every opportunity. And it’s why viewers of Fox News have been documented to be even less informed than people who watch no news at all.

Fox ‘News’ Downplays Colorado Mass Shooting to Mock Biden Walking Up Stairs

Can we finally put to rest the question of whether or not Fox News is actually a news network? For an allegedly journalistic enterprise, their presenters are mostly ultra-conservative propagandists rather than experienced reporters. They don’t break stories. They have never won any awards from their professional peers (Emmys, Pulitzers, etc.). And their guests are predominantly Republican shills.

Fox NOT News

Other than that Fox News is a textbook example of journalistic junk food, seasoned generously with manufactured outrage, racist tropes, and appeals to cult mentality.

As affirmation of the above, on Monday Fox News made some particularly odious editorial decisions. While every other legitimate news network was covering the heinous mass murders in Boulder, Colorado, Fox chose to go a different way. All of their primetime programs conspicuously avoided reporting on the shootings.

Tucker Carlson featured an anti-trans segment about “the end of girls’ sports.” Laura Ingraham discussed how masks and social distancing don’t work to mitigate the COVID pandemic with disgraced “doctor” and herd immunity advocate, Scott Atlas. Sean Hannity spent the entire first half of his show on President Biden walking up stairs. He spent most of the second half on spring break.

All three programs, and most of the rest of Fox’s coverage throughout the day and night, focused narrowly on immigration – specifically that of unaccompanied minors – as means to attack Biden for a problem that he inherited from Donald Trump.

So why would Fox News so flagrantly dodge such an important story as a mass shooting? Three reasons. First of all, the shooter was thought to be white. Had they known otherwise Fox would have been all over it. [NOTE: Now that the suspect has been identified as Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, Fox briefly covered the story, despite still not knowing the motive]. Second, a story about gun violence is antithetical to Fox’s editorial mission to advance right-wing politics and the interests of their benefactors like the NRA. Third, there is nothing in this story with which Fox can bash Joe Biden, so Fox considers it a waste of valuable anti-Biden airtime.

It’s not as if Fox needed to conserve time for other important news events. Their top stories for the past week have been devoted to such critical issues as canceling Dr. Seuss, Mr. Potato Head gendering, imaginary immigrant caravans, and Grammy porn. They already downgraded the last mass shooting in Atlanta saying that it was an over-hyped ploy by Biden (whom they have also been maligning as boring). Fox News is also tired of hearing about the half million people who died from the coronavirus. However, they were right on top of the “news” that the Secretary of Homeland Security had resigned (which didn’t actually happen).

Which brings us back to the question that opened this article. Can we finally put to rest the question of whether or not Fox News is actually a news network? Anyone who has any trouble answering that question in the affirmative is hopelessly indoctrinated into the Fox cult and, consequently, knows little about this shooting or any other matter of importance to the American people.

Fox News ‘Judge’ Jeanine Pirro ‘Cancels’ Guest for Saying Biden is ‘Making America Great Again’

Fox News is at it again. The network that virtually created the scandalous concept of “Cancel Culture” is, ironically, the most prolific purveyor of it. Over the past couple of decades they have feverishly “canceled” hundreds of people, products, and ideas that conflict with their ultra-conservative political and social doctrine.

Fox News, Joe Biden, Jeanine Pirro

This hypocrisy was glaringly evident again on Saturday’s episode of the hilariously misnamed “Justice with Jeanine Pirro.” The program began with an extended rant about immigration problems that she insisted were all the fault of Joe Biden who has been President for all of two months, and whom Fox News regards as both boring and diabolical.

Pirro then brought on immigration attorney David Leopold who, when he wasn’t being interrupted by Pirro, had the temerity to tell her to her face that “Very few things that I hear on this show tonight have been facts.”

Leopold was referring to Pirro’s wildly inaccurate data on immigration. He correctly stated that 150,000 migrants came across the southern border in 2019, during Donald Trump’s term. Pirro wrongly contradicted him saying that this February’s numbers of 100,000 migrants were the highest in fifteen years. But the official statistics from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency proves that Pirro was wrong and Leopold was right. That disparity led to this hostile reaction by Pirro to being corrected:

Leopold: President Biden kept his promise. He’s putting COVID relief out there. He’s making America better. He’s making America great again…
Pirro: I’m stopping you right there. I don’t tolerate lies on my show. He is bringing COVID into this country

First of all, anyone who has watched more than ten minutes of her program knows that Pirro not only tolerates lies, she is the most frequent source of them. Pirro would have been more correct if she had said that she didn’t tolerate lies by anyone other than herself and her rightist confederates.

More to the point, Pirro was parroting false assertions from right-wing propagandists including Texas governor Greg Abbott who falsely claimed that “The Biden administration was releasing illegal immigrants into our communities who had COVID.” The truth is that immigrants were actually testing positive for COVID at half the rate of native Texans as a result of Abbott’s flaunting CDC guidelines.

On the same episode, Pirro hosted right-wing rage-aholics Tomi Lahren and Leo Terrell to attack Biden’s mental acuity (video below). Lahren started off with her conspiracy theory that “The left is going to dump Joe Biden in five months, maybe six months. Put Kamala in, as we all knew. We were never supposed to talk about this.” Which is odd because they talk about it all the time.

Lahren then goes on to explicitly malign Biden as “mentally unstable.” Never mind that the American people had an opportunity last November to assess that and they voted for Biden in overwhelming numbers (8 million more votes than Trump). Polls (including a Fox News poll) even showed that voters considered Donald Trump as being the mentally unsound candidate.

Lahren continued with a flagrant lie about an alleged attempt by Democrats to take the nuclear codes away from Biden. What she dishonestly distorted was a letter sent to Biden by House Democrats suggesting that the power to launch a nuclear attack should not rest in one person (the president).

However, the letter wasn’t a critique of Biden’s mental acuity and never mentioned that. Quite the opposite. It specifically referred to Trump who recklessly taunted foreign leaders with threats of his nuclear prowess. “Past presidents,” the letter said, “have threatened to attack other countries with nuclear weapons or exhibited behavior that caused other officials to express concerns about the president’s judgment.” So it was Trump who prompted the suggestion that the president shouldn’t be the sole possessor of that authority. The letter even cited a Trump tweet from January of 2018, that bragged maniacally that his “Nuclear Button” was “much bigger & more powerful than” North Korea’s Kim Jong Un:

Pirro then turned to Terrell who ranted hysterically that Biden was “an embarrassment” because Vladimir Putin challenged him to a debate. Huh? That actually suggests that Biden appropriately rankled Putin who never needed to debate Trump because they were on the same side. Trump was Putin’s lapdog, so what would be the point of a debate?

This is the sort of fringe crackpottery that is routinely dispensed on Pirro’s program, as well as most of the rest of Fox’s schedule. It is wholly dedicated to advancing a radical conservatism that is utterly out of line with the American people. Unfortunately, it continues to disinform enough dimwitted viewers, some of whom resort to violence in pursuit of their Fox-inspired, fantastical delusions. It’s up to the rest of us to keep setting the record straight and supporting reality-based news sources. Yeah, it’s a dirty job, but someone’s gotta do it.

Chinese Guest on Fox News Says Atlanta Murders are an Over-Hyped Ploy By Biden

Fox News has the clout and resources to book knowledgeable, credentialed guests to provide commentary on current events. Instead, they predictably seek out fringe characters with little to no qualifications, but who will obediently peddle Fox News propaganda.

Fox News, Joe Biden, Fake News

Quite often Fox’s bookers glom onto guests with specific ethnic identities, but with opinions that are diametrically opposed to those of the ethnic group they are allegedly representing. And that’s despite Fox’s incessant and disingenuous condemnations of what they call “identity politics.”

On Friday Fox News hosted Ying Ma, a conservative columnist and the author of the novel, Chinese Girl in the Ghetto,” to discuss the spa murders in Atlanta (video below). Naturally, she began by immediately criticizing the Biden administration for “over-hyping” the massacre of eight innocent people, as if that’s possible. And while acknowledging that there is “real concern about racist attacks,” she diminished that concern because “it’s not the case that everybody is living in fear.” Okay, so let’s just move on and get back to important matters like Mr. Potato Head.

She continued with a rather bizarre set of recommendations for President Biden and Vice-President Harris that utterly sidestepped the issue:

“I would say there are two things the Biden administration can do. One is send Kamala Harris to Oakland, which is the city where she declared her candidacy for president, and ask her to just denounce loud and clear Black-on-Asian violence.”

Of course. Because the first thing a Fox News guest has to do after a white man murders multiple Asian women is to shift the topic to a completely unrelated crime story that ignores the subject she was brought on to discuss, but which conveniently maligns Blacks, a group that is at the top of the Fox News enemies list. She continued saying that…

“The second thing is actually to encourage all Chinese-Americans to come out and denounce China for the role that it has played in infecting the world with COVID-19. And along with that the Biden administration needs to be very firm in holding China accountable for having done this to America and having done this to the world.”

Curiously, Fox News has never demanded that all Caucasians denounce white America for the rapidly increasing violence against Asians. Or for the violent insurrection in Washington on January 6th. Or for the Oklahoma City terrorist bombing. Or for the multitude of mass shootings across America for decades. But for some reason, American-born citizens of Chinese descent are responsible for COVID-19 if they don’t denounce a country they may have never been to.

It’s also preposterous to suggest that the Biden administration needs to hold China accountable for how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the United States. It wasn’t China that downplayed the pandemic as either a hoax or the flu. It wasn’t China that ignored it as it spread across the U.S. It wasn’t China that fatally mismanaged efforts to mitigate transmission and distribute protective gear and vaccines. That was all Donald Trump – and, of course, Fox News.

This segment on Fox featured chyrons that attacked Biden and Democrats. One said falsely that “Biden Paints Dystopian Picture of Life for Asians.” And that was immediately followed by one that flagrantly politicized the matter saying that “Dems Exploit Atlanta Tragedy for Politics.” All of which affirms that the role that Fox News played in infecting Americans, resulting in more than 540,000 deaths so far, is undeniable.

Studies have proven that watching Fox News increases coronavirus fatalities. And sadly, they are still doing it. And in the process they are recruiting racially-based spokespersons who will blame the atrocities of white males on Democrats and other targets of Fox’s biases. It’s what they do.

THE HORROR! Joe Biden is ‘Boring’ and It’s Driving Fox News and Republicans Insane

The rage addicted disciples of Fox News and the Trump Republican Party are undergoing a severe bout of withdrawal in the opening weeks of the Joe Biden presidency. They are no longer being fed massive megadoses of melodrama on a daily (hourly?) basis, and it’s gnawing at them to the point of physical dysfunction.

Fox News, Joe Biden

This is the direct result of exposure to a former reality TV game show host and fake gazillionaire occupying the White House for four years and pumping blind fury into the veins of gullible cultists. The subsequent dependence on a steady supply of contrived outrage has produced a pandemic of psychotic sufferers.

Among the first casualties of this affliction was Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas (or Cancun, depending on the weather). Last week Cruz complained to Sean Hannity of Fox News that Biden’s capacity for stirring up extraneous excitements was insufficient to fuel the nation’s engines of anger:

Hannity: “Boring but radical” kind of sums it up. Explain.
Cruz: You know, you think about the last two months. I think Joe Biden made a political decision – and it was probably a pretty good political decision – to be very boring. The last four years Donald Trump was anything but boring. […] But it is all a subterfuge. It is all a mask designed to hide what is an incredibly radical policy poicy agenda.

So it’s official. “Sleepy” Joe is both boring and a national menace who is masterminding the end of Western civilization. It’s downright diabolical. Never mind that the president isn’t supposed to be “entertaining.” That’s what reality TV drama queens like Trump are for.

What these ultra-rightists consider entertaining is yelling at reporters, insulting women, maligning Democrats (and even Republicans) who disagree, bigoted ranting, Capitol insurrections, and dividing America. What they consider boring is making real progress on the COVID-19 pandemic, racial equity, mitigating climate change, improving healthcare, and reforming immigration. In short, they are bored by competence, compassion, and honesty.

That puts the Trump Confederates at a distinct disadvantage since their criteria for excellence requires the unique characteristics of Trump: Lying pathologically, bragging profusely, whining pathetically, and attacking ponderously. Anything short of that is vilified as the new yawn-inducing opiate of the masses. That point was affirmed on Thursday by Fox’s Senior Rage-aholic, Dan Bongino, who worried that his future in bombastic radio ranting was in jeopardy due to Biden’s troublesome sense of calm:

“It’s just terrible for talk radio. I think Biden is a disaster for the country and his ideas are an atrocity. But he’s boring. He’s just boring. […] I’ll tell you that it’s made me, I believe, a better broadcaster and host because you really had to dig. You’ve had to find interesting angles to stories. And Donald Trump was just a cornucopia of material.”

Exactly! It is totally unacceptable that Biden is forcing these shlock jockeys to “dig” for faux scandals to blame on him. Trump always provided a steady stream of bullpucky to mine for material. Now the poor schnooks on Fox News have to peddle such inanities as Dr. Seuss cancelations, Mr. Potato Head gendering, imaginary immigrant caravans, and Grammy porn. It was even pointed out on Fox by Democratic pundit Chris Hahn, who told the ladies on “Outnumbered” that they would just have to live with the fact that…

United states senators got nothing to complain about Joe Biden because people are so happy with him. They’ve gotta pick a fight over whether John Kerry wore his mask for the entire flight.

What may be worst of all for the Fox News crowd is that Biden’s scheme to give relief to the American people is working. His approval rating just hit 62% and shows no sign of slowing down. If this sort of atrocity continues, Fox may have to abandon their long-held editorial mission of riling up the rank and file (with an emphasis on rank). They may have to concede that being boring is an asset that attests to leadership and competency. After all, no one gets overexcited because everything is going along smoothly.

Has Trump’s Influence on Fox News – and America – Dwindled to an Impotent Trickle?

It’s been two months since Joe Biden was inaugurated as President of the United States. In that time of national celebration and relief, Donald Trump has retreated to his Mar-a-Lago bunker, emerging only briefly for a speech at the Conservative Political Action Cult (CPAC), and a phone-in to Senior Fox News Trump-fluffer, Maria Bartiromo.

Donald Trump, Toilet, Bathrobe

Trump is either suffering a severe depression at having been rejected by millions of voters, or he’s he’s hiding from legal process servers and state prosecutors. And while he’s cowering in near obscurity, unable to tweet his pent up outrages, his grip on the political world is slipping away. This shift to irrelevancy is evident in how the media covers his recent remarks about the COVID-19 vaccine.

Trump spent months promoting the vaccine development and bragging about accomplishments that exist only in his mind. After which he clammed up and refused to encourage his cult followers to get vaccinated. This week that changed after prodding from politicians, the press, and even Dr. Fauci. “I would recommend it to a lot of people that don’t want to get it,” Trump told Bartiromo. “And a lot of those people voted for me, frankly.” For some reason Trump seems to be proud that his voters are uniquely ignorant about the wisdom of being immunized.

Despite Trump’s sudden interest in endorsing the vaccine, his former confederates in the media are not falling in line. Tucker Carlson is doing extended segments casting doubts on the safety, efficacy, and necessity of vaccinations. Sean Hannity immediately began having doubts about the vaccine after Biden was inaugurated. Laura Ingraham, in a reference to public health experts, told her audience that “it’s time to retire or just ignore the control freaks.”

This was all summed up nicely in a clip from The Daily Show that revealed how “Fox News isn’t explicitly telling its viewers not to get vaccinated, it’s just questioning whether they should over and over again”:

Trump’s waning influence was clearly displayed in how Fox News reported his vaccine recommendation. Media Matters reports that…

“Trump’s remarks will have an impact only if his supporters hear them. And while his comments originally aired on Fox, that network — by far the most popular and influential among Trump voters — has largely ignored them since.

In the 36 hours following Trump’s vaccine endorsement, Fox devoted only about six and a half minutes to the remarks. Only a handful of programs covered the remarks; flagship ‘straight news’ broadcast Special Report and popular opinion shows The Five, Tucker Carlson Tonight, and The Ingraham Angle are among those that have not referenced the comments.”

By contrast, in the 36 hours after Biden’s commentary about “Neanderthal” Republicans who prematurely lifted mask mandates, Fox News ran about 1 hour and 20 minutes of coverage about the phony “scandal.” That’s twelve times as much coverage as allotted to Trump’s weak vaccine plug.

So apparently Fox isn’t jumping on Trump’s bandwagon on this life-or-death subject. And his formerly reliable suck-ups aren’t sucking quite as vigorously. Does this mean anything with regard to Trump’s forward prospects as a politician or a public figure. Who knows? But it surely doesn’t bode well for a former president and future felon who was never particularly well liked or respected in the first place.

Fox News and the Instigator of the Trump Insurrection Say Biden is ‘Destroying Our Country’?

On Tuesday evening Donald Trump made a return appearance on his former Ministry of Propaganda network, Fox News. He was treated to a twenty minute, primetime tongue-bath by Fox’s Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, for whom no sycophancy is too extreme.

Naturally, Trump spent most of the segment consumed with unwarranted bragging about everything from creating the COVID-19 vaccine to the stock market to taxes. But Trump and Bartiromo devoted a significant portion of their lovefest to maligning President Joe Biden and immigrants. In fact, immigration has become the dominant issue on Fox News (not counting Dr. Seuss) since their failure to ignite an insurrection over Trump’s Big Lie about the election being “stolen.”

Trump pontificated tediously on this with flagrant lies that immigrants are “coming in by the hundreds of thousands,” and that Biden is “destroying our country.”

“Today, they are coming in. You take a look. They are coming in from all foreign countries. I see they are coming in from Yemen. They are coming in from the Middle East. They are coming in from everywhere. They are dropping them off and they are pouring into our country. It is a disgrace. They are going to destroy our country if we don’t do something about it.”

There is absolutely zero evidence of any migrants “coming in from the Middle East.” And the numbers aren’t anywhere near “hundreds of thousands.” But reality has never been an impediment to Trump’s lies before, so why stop now? Biden has only been in office for two months and his immigration agenda has yet to be implemented. So the current policy is still largely that which was put in place by the Trump administration. To the extent that there is a border “crisis,” it’s the result of migrants recognizing the difference between Trump’s lawless cruelty and Biden’s far more humane and compassionate approach that complies with U.S. and international law.

Despite the abundance of preposterous declarations by Trump and equally ludicrous affirmations by Fox News, it is still startling to hear them assert that Biden is destroying the country. Especially since that assertion comes after Trump incited an actual insurrection by violent thugs who invaded the Capitol. And after Trump rejected the election results confirmed by all fifty states. And after Trump maligned the Supreme Court for not capitulating to his demands to upend the Constitution.

Add to those atrocities Trump’s presiding over the deaths of more than half a million Americans from a pandemic that was exacerbated by his negligence and incompetence. Yeah sure, Biden is the one destroying the country. We’re lucky we have a country left for Biden to restore after Trump got through with it. And by the way, here is Biden’s press secretary, Jen Psaki, articulating the Biden policy in response to a question from Fox News:
