Twitter Tyrant Elon Musk Comes Out Against Free Markets and Free Speech

It really is a sad commentary on the state of the American economy when the world’s richest man is found whining about losing money due to his own incompetence, ignorance, ego, and greed. Yet that’s where we are now as Elon Musk discovers that the rest of the world isn’t as enamored of his “brilliance” as he is.

On Friday morning the new “Chief Twit” (as he calls himself) posted a tweet expressing his dismay at the loss of revenue at Twitter following his acquisition. And naturally, he blames it on unidentified “activists” who, in his festering paranoia, he is convinced are out to destroy him. Sounds a lot like his buddy, Donald Trump.

Many people assume that because Musk managed to accumulate an obscenely immense fortune, that he must be an exceptional businessman, rather than just lucky and/or skilled at exploitation. But Musk’s tweet revealed just how poorly he understands both business and the Constitution. He tweeted that…

“Twitter has had a massive drop in revenue, due to activist groups pressuring advertisers, even though nothing has changed with content moderation and we did everything we could to appease the activists. Extremely messed up! They’re trying to destroy free speech in America.”

Let’s breakdown Musk’s meltdown. First of all, the “massive drop in revenue” is a pittance to a multibillionaire who way overpaid for the company he so badly wanted to control. But Musk is, nevertheless, howling at a loss of revenue that could have been easily predicted. He was, in fact, warned that his intention to impose his concept of “free speech absolutism” would result in an advertiser exodus. No advertiser wants their ads to be displayed in proximity to blatant hate speech and flagrant disinformation.

Despite the predictable results of his own foolish strategies, Musk is blaming “activist groups” for the decline in revenue. But what he is actually complaining about is that people other than himself are exercising their rights to free speech. Musk, like many right-wingers, thinks that free speech means that no one can disagree with whatever you say. And if anyone does disagree, and communicates their disagreement to others, they are insufficiently grateful for the crumbs that you scatter among them.

Musk also asserts that “nothing has changed with content moderation.” That’s technically true. However, hate mongering Twitter users anticipating the “free-for-all hellscape” that he has outlined for Twitter didn’t wait for any official starting gun to go off. The bile began spewing almost immediately upon the news that Musk closed the deal. As reported by ABC News…

“A new study from Montclair State University showed a dramatic increase in hate speech on Twitter immediately following Elon Musk’s acquisition of the social media platform. […] In similar research by the cyber research organization Network Contagion Research Institute, the use of the N-word racial epithet skyrocketed by over 500% on the website.”

Now Musk is surprised that the predictions of fleeing advertisers are coming true. Already some major advertisers have suspended their buys on Twitter. They include General Mills, Audi, General Motors, Pfizer, Ford, Mondelez (Oreos), and Volkswagen. Musk’s shock and anger over this illustrates his opposition to the free market. These companies have every right to protect their brands from the harm of being associated with the hate speech that Musk is encouraging.

So in that one short tweet, Musk has demonstrated his opposition to free markets, as well as the fact that it is he who is “trying to destroy free speech in America.” What’s more, his distress over the loss of some revenue is especially grotesque coming after he reportedly fired half of the employees at Twitter. Which he is doing in order to offset his own losses due to the preposterous overpayment he made to acquire the company.

Musk obviously has no sympathy whatsoever for the much more severe loss of revenue that the Twitter employees will suffer. But so long as he manages to restore a tiny fraction of the fortune he lost buying Twitter, the suffering of others is their own problem.

Trump’s Delusional, Desperate, and (as Always), Dishonest Response to Musk’s Twitter Takeover

The soap opera that commenced after Elon Musk proposed to buy Twitter in April has finally come to an end. Well, at least the buying part. Complex melodramatic narratives will continue into the future due to the unstable mental state of Musk, as well as the social and political ramifications of his ownership of a virtual town square with international scope.

Leading the parade of emotional defectives is, of course, Donald Trump. His view of Musk taking over Twitter is typically drenched with personal interests that range from his competition with Twitter, via his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, and his massive but fragile ego. Remember, Trump was so hurt by Twitter permanently suspending his account that he sued them. The suit was quickly dismissed because the court found that it had no rational legal basis.

On Friday Trump responded to the news that Musk’s acquisition of Twitter was completed. And as expected, it was riddled with his hallmark personality traits: whining, bragging, and lying. He posted on Truth Social that…

“TRUTH SOCIAL has become somewhat of a phenomena. Last week it had bigger numbers than all other platforms, including TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, and the rest. It also looks and works better to my eye. I am very happy that Twitter is now in sane hands, and will no longer be run by Radical Left Lunatics and Maniacs that truly hate our country. Twitter must now work hard to rid itself of all of the bots and fake accounts that have hurt it so badly. It will be much smaller, but better. I LOVE TRUTH!”

Indeed, Truth Social is a phenomenal flop. When Trump asserts that “it had bigger numbers than all other platforms,” he is referring only to the number of downloads from the Apple and Google app stores. It still has a tiny percentage of the users that Twitter and other popular social media sites have. And the only reason its download numbers were high is because it just became available many months after its launch. In fact, it has already dropped below all of the apps Trump mentioned, and isn’t even among the top fifty on either the Google or Apple app stores.

Trump’s comment has the requisite infantile insults that he includes in virtually every public statement he makes. And it’s always the same malarkey about alleged “Radical Left Lunatics and Maniacs that truly hate our country.” You have to wonder whether there are any medications that can correct his tedious repetitions, or if he is already on medications that are causing it.

In addition to Trump’s pathetic post, he also gave a comment to Fox News regarding Musk and Twitter. And it was predictably demented. He told Fox that…

“I don’t think Twitter can be successful without me.” And that…

“Twitter was a failed enterprise. It was only when I got on that it became successful.” And that…

“If I choose to run, I will only use Truth.” (Which he has said before, although this time he’s leaving an out in case he doesn’t run)

The notion that Trump won’t return to Twitter if he is allowed is preposterous. He has about four million followers on Truth Social. He had more than 80 million on Twitter. Do you think he’d pass up that opportunity to languish in the adoration of his cult?

It really is astonishing how deranged Trump is. He really thinks that people miss his tweets. As an example of what the Twitterverse is missing without Trump, he posted 47 times on Truth Social yesterday. The subjects ranged from praise for Brazilian fascist Jair Bolsonaro, to a rancid rant against the judge presiding over his trial in New York. But mostly he posted about how magnificent he thinks he is and how much everybody loves him.

However, Trump didn’t post a single note of concern or sympathy for the attempted murder of Nancy Pelosi’s husband. Perhaps he’s still hurt by Pelosi observing that he “is not man enough” to comply with the subpoena he received from the January 6th Committee investigating the insurrection he incited.

Trump Threatened to ‘Blow Up the Company’ if Truth Social Execs Didn’t Give Their Shares to Melania

Two days after the January 6th insurrection that Donald Trump incited, Twitter permanently suspended his account “due to the risk of further incitement of violence.” That eventually led to the creation of the Trump-branded Twitter clone, Truth Social, where he could mouth off interminably and unconstrained by facts or decency.

Ever since, Truth Social has proven to be another pitiful failure in the Trump stable of ego-driven business ventures. That, however, didn’t stop him and his minions from pretending that it was not only a success, but an Earth shattering advance in the evolution of the human race. In reality, it was a fiasco on every level. It lost money, failed to attract users, betrayed its promise of free speech, stiffed its vendors, and is mired in multiple legal quagmires.

Adding to the unfolding apocalypse of Trump’s social media scam and its parent company, Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), is a new report revealing the expanding scope of Trump’s greed and corruption. One of TMTG’s executives, Will Wilkerson, has emerged as a whistleblower with allegations that he and other company principals were pressured by Trump to “give up some of his shares to Trump’s wife, Melania?” According to the Washington Post…

“Trump Media, the owner of the fledgling social network Truth Social, had just been boosted by a huge merger agreement and a flood of investment that had made the stake worth millions of dollars. Trump had already been given 90 percent of the company’s shares in exchange for the use of his name and some minor involvement, leaving everyone else to split the rest.

“[Company co-founder Andy] Litinsky tried to brush it off, telling Trump ‘the gift would have meant a huge tax bill he couldn’t pay,’ Wilkerson said in an interview. ‘Trump didn’t care. He said, ‘Do whatever you need to do.'”

The Post goes on to report that “Five months later, Litinsky, who first met Trump in 2004 as a contestant on the TV show “The Apprentice,” was abruptly removed from the company’s board.” Furthermore, Trump embellished his pressure campaign in an email wherein he threatened to “‘blow up the company’ if his demands are not met.” Now Wilkerson has filed a whistleblower complaint with the SEC “alleging that “the company’s bid to raise money … relied on ‘fraudulent misrepresentations … in violation of federal securities laws.'”

The Post’s article details at length the soap opera melodrama that went on at TMTG for months. That includes episodes where company founders were terminated and replaced by Don Trump Jr, and associates of Trump’s hand-picked CEO, former GOP congressman and ultra-right-wing Trump-fluffer, Devin Nunes, who had no experience whatsoever in the technology field.

With the company reportedly in violation of SEC regulations and other laws, and investors backing out, its offices were moved from a prestigious commercial building to a mail box at a UPS store. Shares of the shell company that was formed to take TMTG public, Digital World Acquisition Corp (DWAC) have crashed from a high of $175.00 to less than $18.00.

This is a story that would make a compelling fictional drama. But it’s facts are meticulously researched and well documented. It is also easy to believe considering the history of Trump’s unscrupulous business practices.

Like virtually everything else in Trump World, Truth Social and TMTG appear to be geared toward fattening Trump’s wallet through shady machinations. And like virtually everything else in Trump World, it’s failing miserably, and taking down everyone connected to it. But it’s hard to feel sorry for people who so willingly signed on to a sham operation by a known fraudster like Trump.

Devin Nunes Exalts the Failing Truth Social as ‘The Most Important Creation in Trump’s Career’

Throughout Donald Trump’s career he has embellished his personal and business “achievements” to the point that they bore no resemblance whatsoever to reality. Trump only speaks in hyperbole, claiming that everything he undertakes is the greatest success ever known to mankind. And conversely, any criticism or failure is the worst smear campaign. That’s partly why he was recently indicted for fraud by the Attorney General of New York in a case that documents his crooked business practices.

Among Trump’s most prominent recent business debacles is his Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. From the day it was launched it was mired in the sort of mayhem that can only be produced by incompetence. It repeatedly crashed. Users couldn’t log in. Fake accounts were rampant. And financially the shell company it partnered with suffered an 80% decline in stock value over the past seven months. Its investors are backing out.

So this seemed like a good time for the CEO, Devin Nunes, to appear on a right-wing podcast to tout how absolutely marvelous this scam operation is:

“Can you imagine where we would be had Donald Trump not went out and created Truth Social? We would be in a very, very dark spot. And it is very possible that, maybe, just maybe the most important creation in Donald Trump’s whole career will be the creation of Truth Social. And I don’t say that lightly. As you know, John and Amanda, I believe that to my core. It’s why I left Congress to go and do this.”

Can you imagine? It requires a pretty twisted imagination to perceive the “very, very dark spot” that Nunes is describing. Likewise, the ability to contrive a fantasy that Truth Social is “important” seems more than bit far fetched.

That said, Truth Social very well could be “the most important creation in Donald Trump’s whole career,” considering the vast landscape of failure that that encompasses. Trump has multiple business bankruptcies. His “university” was shut down, and he was ordered to pay $25 million in restitution. His charitable foundation was also shuttered, and he and his family prohibited from operating a charity in New York for five years. Numerous buildings that he had licensed his name to have removed his any remnant of that association.

In light of that record of wreckage, Truth Social might look good. Although, it hasn’t exactly prospered. Here is a brief summation of the website’s troubles…

Trump Rants Hysterically as His PRAVDA Social Bans Users Who Post the Truth About January 6th
“Trump’s Twitter copycat claiming it is ‘free from political discrimination,’ has reportedly banned users who posted information from Thursday’s congressional hearing on the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.”

That’s what Nunes regards “the most important creation in Donald Trump’s whole career”? Unfortunately for Nunes and Trump, it’s only going to get worse. The deal to take it public is falling apart. The financing to capitalize it will be gone when it does. It can never compete with Twitter or other social media sites.

As for Trump, he has sworn that he will never return to Twitter, even if Elon Musk’s teetering bid to buy it happens to go through. Which would be a risky bet. That would leave Trump yelling into the void where only his most devoted cult followers reside. Which would be a great relief to the rest of the nation – and world – that is sick to death of his petulant whining.

Trump Whines that He’s ‘Really Rich’ in Pathetic Attempt to Cure His Truth Social Disease

For years Donald Trump has bragged about his alleged wealth as proof of his self-proclaimed brilliance and competence as a successful businessman. Never mind that he inherited his fortune and ran it into the ground with foolish investments and bad management. He would have made more money if he had simply put his inheritance in an S&P 500 index fund.

Now Trump is using the same sort of impotent boasting to salve his gargantuan but fragile ego after more bad news about his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social came out. The website he founded after Twitter suspended his account “due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” has been a disaster from its inception. And it’s actually gotten worse since Trump began using it himself.

The latest truth published about “Truth” Social is that Google has banned it from their Google Play app store due to its tolerance and promotion of violence. Bloomberg News reports that…

“Google’s Play store is declining to distribute Donald Trump’s Truth Social app, saying the network still needs to resolve the fact that it hosts violent threats and other content that goes against Google’s standards.”

In response to this story, Trump posted a furious comment that is rife with ridiculous claims of how his social media scam is thriving. He raged that…

“TRUTH is doing really well. It has truly become our MAGA VOICE, but also a voice for the RINOs and Radical Left Lunatics. Engagements are far better, more interesting, and spirited than anywhere else. I like it much better than Twitter, which is a complete mess. Sign up on TRUTH now, only getting stronger. Google is coming along nicely (I think?). SEC trying to hurt company doing financing (SPAC). Who knows? In any event, I don’t need financing, “I’m really rich!” Private company anyone???”

As usual, Trump can’t seem to get anywhere close to reality in his pitiful efforts to pretend that he isn’t a big loser. Trump’s alternative facts are diametrically opposed to what is actually happening with his vanity website. Both Trump’s “Trump Media and Technology Group” (TMTG), and “Digital World Acquisition Corporation” (DWAC), the shell company that was expected to take the new business public, are in serious legal and financial trouble. DWAC has declined in value by 75% from its high mark last March. And that’s not all…

He is correct, however, – and he has bragged that – the site serves as a voice for himself and the other MAGA terrorists that President Biden recently called out so eloquently.

Finally, if Trump is so damn rich, why does he spend so much time begging for money from his hillbilly cult followers? And he doesn’t even use a penny of it for what he promises it’s being raised for. Such as electing MAGA Republicans, advancing his “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him, and fighting the multitude of legal battles due to his inbred corruption.

And yet, his glassy-eyed disciples still open their wallets for his cons. It would be sad if it weren’t so funny and so destructive of his own nefarious goals.

UPDATE: DWAC failed to get backing for an extension to complete their merger with Trump’s Truth Social venture. Which means they will have to forfeit billions in pledged investments and a place on the stock exchange. Next stop…another Trump bankruptcy.

Trump’s Truth Social Owes its Web Hosting Service Millions and Hasn’t Made a Payment in Months

Two days after the January 6th insurrection that Donald Trump incited, Twitter permanently suspended his account “due to the risk of further incitement of violence.” Undaunted, Trump soldiered on determined to provide his glassy-eyed cult disciples with a steady stream of lies, hostility, and self-exaltation.

Trump eventually launched his own social media app, Truth Social, that was a blatant ripoff of Twitter. From its inception the venture was pure Trump, in that it was a fetid failure built on a foundation of fraud. After missing several launch dates, and racking up potential users on a waiting list of thousands, the site went live to a pitifully small audience, which didn’t stop Trump from claiming that it was “one of the hottest sites in the world.”

That, however was just the beginning of Trump’s problems. The company he started to run the site, Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), and the shell company that he intended to use to get it listed on the stock exchange, Digital World Acquisition Corporation (DWAC), both became mired in legal muck.

Now, to no one’s surprise, Trump is sinking ever more into legal and financial trouble. A story published by the Fox News Business site (that’s right, Fox News) is reporting that Truth Social has failed to make payments to the web hosting service that it runs on. According to Fox Business…

“In October, RightForge announced it entered into an agreement to host Truth Social, which Trump helped create after he was banned by Twitter following the Jan. 6 riots. RightForge now contends that Truth Social has reneged on its contractually obligated monthly payments for setting up the platform’s web-servicing infrastructure, according to three people with direct knowledge of the matter.

“These people say RightForge contends that Truth Social has made just three payments and ceased making any payments since around March. RightForge claims that Truth Social owes it around $1.6 million and is threatening legal action to recoup the money, these people add.”

So in its short lifespan, Truth Social has sputtered to the starting gate, left its users hanging, lost 70% of its value (at DWAC), and is currently being investigated by a federal Grand Jury and the Securities and Exchange Commission. All of which is the predictable path of any Trump enterprise. However, the Fox Business story also notes that Trump is in even much bigger trouble personally…

“Trump himself faces mounting legal woes including a Justice Department probe over his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot; a New York state civil probe into the finances of the Trump Organization, his real estate and branding business; and, most recently, a DOJ probe into whether he mishandled classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate that led to the recent FBI raid.”

And if all of that isn’t bad enough, Axios is reporting that Truth Social’s trademark application has been denied. Apparently, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office “found two other companies who already use the Truth Social wording.”

That suggests a measure of laziness and/or incompetence that could only be achieved by Trump. After all, he can’t even get the name of his web site correct…

The desperation of Donald Trump continues to present itself with virtually every public comment he makes. As his legal peril escalates with investigations in progress in New York, Georgia, and Washington, D.C., Trump is amping up his attacks on anything and everything in order to wipe the slime from his brow and/or deflect attention from his crimes.

In the two weeks since the FBI retrieved numerous boxes of classified material from his Mar-a-Lago bunker, Trump has frantically fabricated a stream of increasingly bizarre excuses for his illegally hoarding sensitive national security documents in the insecure basement of his Palm Beach hotel/home.

Now Trump is lashing out wildly to change the subject again. On Sunday morning Trump took to his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, to whine about the “Fake News” correctly describing his social media scam as “little used.” He sobbed that…

“It’s amazing, I’ve had two stories — one in Politico, one in the Fake New York Times, where in the midst of the story, they say that I put my message out on Truth Social, a ‘little-used’ site with ‘few’ people watching. More Fake News. They know it’s now one of the hottest sites in the world, but they will never admit it, that’s why they call them the Fake News. Everyone is watching.”

What’s amazing is how brazenly Trump can lie without a hint of shame. The charge that Trump is making against the New York Times and Politico are based solely on the fallacies that fill his feeble mind. If Trump truly thinks that Truth Social is “one of the hottest sites in the world,” and that “they” know it, he is more cognitively collapsing than previously known. Also, the only ones calling the media “fake news” are Trump and his cult followers.

Trump’s post links to the ultra-rightist Washington Examiner as his source for these flagrant falsehoods. The Examiner just quotes an article on Vice News. Vice reports accurately that downloads of Truth Social did spike following the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago. But that was hardly anything to celebrate:

“In the week prior to the August 8 search of Mar-a-Lago, the Truth Social app was downloaded less than 20,000 times, averaging around 2,500 downloads per day from Apple’s app store.

“However in the week after the search, details of which were first announced publicly by Trump himself on Truth Social, it was downloaded 107,500 times, an average of 13,400 per day.”

Let’s put that into context. Twitter currently has more than two hundred million active daily users. Truth Social is hovering at about half a million. Which doesn’t really qualify it as a “hot” site. What’s more, Truth Social’s user data is sketchy at best. They report Trump as having three million followers, which is two and a half million more than the site’s total. He had 80 million on Twitter. Vice went on to say that…

“From the beginning, Truth Social has been beset by technical problems. There was initially a huge backlog of users who simply couldn’t get onto the platform. It was also only available on Apple’s platform; there is still no Android app available (it’s ‘coming soon,’ the company says) and registrations are currently closed for new users, according to the platform’s website.

For the record, the New York Times article that Trump appears to be referring to was about his childishly sarcastic “endorsements” of Democratic candidates Carolyn Maloney and Dan Goldman, who immediately rejected him. However, there doesn’t seem to be any Politico article that makes the claim that Trump is yammering about.

The bottom line is that if Trump really wants to spread his lies that Truth Social is a hotbed of online activity, he’s going to have to post them somewhere other than Truth Social where hardly anyone will see them. The site is ghost town. Which is, ironically, what Truth Social’s CEO, Devin Nunes, called Twitter on Fox News.

Trump’s TRUTH Social Twitter Ripoff Suffers Another Setback Due to His Criminal Corruption

When Twitter permanently suspended Donald Trump two days after the January 6th insurrection that he incited, they said that it was “due to the risk of further incitement of violence.” There was a collective sigh of relief in America in anticipation that his maniacal raving might be muffled for a while. Unfortunately, that was not to be.

Soon after Trump was given the boot by Twitter, he launched his own social media operation, Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG). The core of this scam was TRUTH Social, a blatant ripoff of Twitter built on rage and revenge. He promised that it would be a bastion of free speech, despite the fact that its terms of service explicitly forbid posts that criticized Trump and users were banned for posting the truth about January 6th.

Right from the start this racket rocketed to failure in record time. Digital World Acquisition Corporation (DWAC), the shell company that was expected to take the new business public, has declined in value by 80% from its high mark last October.

DWAC has suffered a series of the financial and legal setbacks that are so common to any Trump enterprise. And now there is another adversity owing to Trump’s inbred immorality:

“Digital World Acquisition Corp., the special purpose acquisition company planning to merge with the company behind former President Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform, is asking its shareholders to delay the deadline for completing the deal until 2023, in part because of federal investigations into the transaction. […] DWAC warned that may not even be enough time, though, noting the investigations might hamper its ability to win regulatory approval, which it said ‘may require us to liquidate.'”

The “federal investigations” to which this notice refers includes a Grand Jury in New York, for which all of DWAC’s board members have been subpoenaed. At the same time the Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating whether TMTG and DWAC executives improperly coordinated with each other and engaged in insider trading.

These probes have contributed to the cratering of the value of Trump’s crime vehicle, DWAC. It may also explain why Trump himself bailed on his crooked company. Just weeks before the subpoenas were served, Trump removed himself and Don Jr from the board of TMTG.

Even worse, from Trump’s perspective, is that if this deal doesn’t go through he won’t be able to pocket the billions of dollars that have been raised by his criminal cronies to finance this flagrant fraud. Bearing in mind that the only purpose of this sham venture was to either exact vengeance on Trump’s enemies, or enrich him personally, he appears to have failed on both counts. And it will just add to the list of criminal offences that Trump and his crime family could be held liable for.

Trump’s Twitter Ripoff (TRUTH Social) Has Lost 36% of its Value Since He Began Posting On It

The myth of Donald Trump’s popularity is rapidly unwinding. Sure, he may still hold a few braindead cult disciples in a hypnotic trance, and he continues to recruit more violent insurrectionists with unethical and unfulfillable promises of future pardons, but the rest of the nation is increasingly anxious to be rid of him.

Recent polling shows that voters are more likely to support Democrats when they are told that the alternative is Republicans who are beholden to Trump and his Ultra-MAGA agenda. And the hearings being held by the House Select Committee investigating the deadly January 6th insurrection incited by Trump are turning public opinion against him. Those hearings are only at the half way point, with many more witnesses and incriminating revelations to come. Meanwhile, nearly 6 in 10 Americans say that Trump should charged criminally for his role in the Capitol Hill riots.

In the midst of his crumbling congregation of crackpots, Trump is frantically posting on his Twitter clone, TRUTH Social, to try to shore up support and garner some of the infatuation that his fetid ego feeds on. Unfortunately for Trump, that miserably failing social mess isn’t going to provide the blind idolatry that he craves. It has failed to attract much of an audience, and the financial foundations underpinning its operation are rotting to the core.

TRUTH Social was announced in October of 2021, and Trump posted on it one time, then disappeared for months. More recently he declared that he would never return to Twitter, even if Elon Musk’s bid to acquire it were successful (which is doubtful).

At the beginning of June Trump finally began to patronize his website and the lonely Deplorables who reside there. His postings were typically festering with rage and riddled with lies. But his presence seems to have had an adverse affect on the site’s fortunes, or lack thereof. Since Trump began posting regularly, the shell company, Digital World Acquisition Corporation (DWAC), that was expected to take the business public, has declined in value by 36%. That’s just in the two weeks that Trump has been posting.

Apparently Trump’s dimwit-icisms didn’t do much to boost interest in this debacle. Not that it was especially prosperous before. It has declined by more than 80% since its high mark last October. And the reasons are pretty obvious. For one thing, the company is being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission for possible fraud.

What’s more, with Trump posting his tedious whines about having lost the 2020 presidential election, and his infantile insults directed at anyone who is less than worshipful, how could anyone stay interested for long? For instance, his last posting exemplifies the problem…

“I have sooo many witnesses to everything good, but the highly partisan and one sided Unselect Committee of political hacks has not (sic) interest in hearing or seeing them. This Witch Hunt could all be ended quickly if they did!”

For the record, the Committee is not only interested in hearing from Trump’s witnesses, they subpoenaed many of them. Most refused to comply. They include his White House and campaign staffers Peter Navarro, Dan Scavino, Mark Meadows, Stephen Bannon, and Rudy Giuliani. Also Trump supporters in Congress Kevin McCarthy, Andy Biggs, Jim Jordan, Scott Perry, Ronny Jackson, and Mo Brooks. Of the Trump insiders who did show (Bill Barr, Bill Stepien, Greg Jacob, and Michael Luttig), they offered testimony that mainly contributed to the abundant evidence of Trump’s guilt.

If Trump really wants the Committee to hear his side of the story, he could direct his supporters to stop obstructing and agree to testify. He won’t. Better yet, he could volunteer to testify himself. The Committee would welcome him and give him as much time as he wants. But that would require him to have the courage to show up and tell the truth – two personality traits that he has never had.

However, Trump can be expected to keep whining to his followers online, because that’s a trait that he acknowledged is one of his best when he bragged that “I am the most fabulous whiner.”

Trump Could Make TRUTH Social Pay Him for Content, Even If it’s Dishonest, Illegal, or Immoral

The more we learn about Donald Trump’s Twitter clone, TRUTH Social, the more it appears to be just another in a long line of scams by Trump whose only purpose is to fatten his wallet and fleece his half-witted flock. The Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), his social media venture, is heading down the same corrupt path as his phony university and his fraudulent charity.

Mother Jones is reporting on a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission by Digital World Acquisition Corp (DWAC), the shady shell company that Trump is using to give his enterprise a presence on Wall Street. And, as revealed in the filing, the terms of the licensing agreement with Trump have all of the elements of the unscrupulous brand of business affairs that are the hallmarks of Trump’s malpractice. To begin with, the filling notes that…

“TMTG’s future success will depend, to a significant extent, upon the continued presence and popularity of President Trump. If President Trump were to discontinue his relationship with TMTG due to death, disability, or any other reason, or limit his involvement with TMTG due to becoming a candidate for political office, TMTG would be significantly disadvantaged.”

Relying on Trump’s popularity is a profoundly shaky foundation for success. The twice-impeached, former reality TV game show host lost the popular vote twice and never had an approval rating that approached 50%. A majority of Americans say he’s responsible for the violent January 6th insurrection. And even 49% of Republicans don’t want him to run in 2024.

What’s the more, the prospects of Trump discontinuing his relationship with his site for the reasons stated (“death, disability, or any other reason”) are almost inevitable. And in any case, Trump isn’t even obligated to post anything at all on the site. However, the filing notes that the site may be obligated to pay him for posting content. So he has wrangled another way to squeeze dough from his dimwit disciples. And the substance of the content he provides has no ethical boundaries. According the the filing…

“TMTG has entered into a license agreement with President Trump wherein neither the personal nor political conduct of President Trump, even if such conduct could negatively reflect on TMTG’s reputation or brand or be considered offensive, dishonest, illegal, immoral, or unethical, or otherwise harmful to TMTG’s brand or reputation, shall be considered a breach of the license agreement.”

That’s a necessary contractual provision with Trump, since he is notorious for “offensive, dishonest, illegal, [and] immoral” conduct. Even now the SEC is investigating whether TMTG and DWAC executives improperly coordinated with each other and engaged in insider trading. They have also partnered with a Chinese firm with a dubious legal past. And the filing even mentions Trump’s prior business failures including…

“…the bankruptcies of Trump Taj Mahal, Trump Plaza, and Trump Castle, and the failures of Trump University, Trump Vodka, and Trump Steaks, among others. […] Digital World said in its filing: A number of companies that were associated with President Trump have filed for bankruptcy. There can be no assurances that TMTG will not also become bankrupt.”

There is considerable speculation on Wall Street that Trump’s social media sham won’t ever get off the ground. DWAC stock price is down about 65% from its recent high just a couple of months ago. And while Trump has said that he won’t go back on Twitter even if Elon Musk’s bid is successful (doubtful) and his account is reinstated, he lies too much for that – or anything else he says – to be taken seriously.

Meanwhile, Trump’s Twitter ban defying spokes-shill, Liz Harrington, has announced that “I will soon no longer be posting on Twitter. This is a terrible website that is beyond fixing.” She doesn’t say how soon “soon” is (and she is just as likely to be lying as Trump), but the reaction in the replies to her alleged farewell announcement are enthusiastically supportive and downright gleeful:
