Fox News Smears Hakeem Jeffries as an ‘Election Denier’ to Deflect From McCarthy Speaker Fiasco

It is now day three of the Kevin McCarthy House Speaker Spectacular as Republicans have failed repeatedly to secure enough votes to elect a leader. Despite frenzied lobbying, negotiating, and humiliating concessions by McCarthy to the most extreme crackpots in the GOP caucus, they remain stalemated.

Despite his having caved in to the wackos who seek to weaken and control his Speakership, McCarthy hasn’t budged the opposition in his party at all. Even Donald Trump, who ignored the race until after the first three failed votes, had zero impact on the results when he finally sunk to begging for votes with a lukewarm post on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, saying that Republicans should vote for McCarthy so they can “WATCH CRAZY NANCY PELOSI FLY BACK HOME.” Which aside from being something that isn’t going to happen, it is hardly a stirring endorsement of McCarthy.

In the midst of this Republican ridiculousness, Fox News has struggled to find a narrative that would frame this in a positive light for the GOP. Consequently, they have shifted their focus to slandering Democrats. Specifically, they are going after the House Democratic leader, Hakeem Jeffries, who has enjoyed the unified support of his party and received more votes than McCarthy on every ballot. But rather than reporting that factual account of events, Fox News went with the following…

“Democrats continue handing votes to Jeffries, who has long history of denying elections.”

That’s a creative spin, to say the least. Anyone with even the barest grasp of current political affairs knows that the Republican Party, and it’s Dear Leader Donald Trump, have been the fiercely delusional disseminators of the “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged and stolen” from Trump. It’s practically the only thing that Trump talks about. But this isn’t an isolated attempt by Fox News to project the “election denier” label on Jeffries. They have previously run stories asserting…

  • RNC blasts ‘election denier’ Hakeem Jeffries moments after he wins Democrat leadership
  • New Dem House leader Hakeem Jeffries labeled ‘election denier’ by Republicans, who call for media scrutiny
  • Election denier Hakeem Jeffries could replace Pelosi as House Dem leader
  • Hakeem Jeffries called Trump’s 2016 election victory a ‘hoax,’ referred to him as ‘so-called’ president

For the record, neither Jeffries, nor any Democrat, have engaged in actual election denying activities. Democrats haven’t refused to concede elections that they lost. They haven’t filed an endless stream of bogus lawsuits to alter the outcomes of any race. And they certainly have never assaulted the Congress or staged a violent coup to overturn an election. No Democrat has been convicted of seditious conspiracy to overthrow the government by insurrection, as members of Trump’s Oath Keepers have.

The remarks that Fox News is claiming constitute election denial by Jeffries are common political commentaries by political partisans. For instance, after the 2016 election, Jeffries said that…

“Russia interfered with our election, attacked our democracy, for the sole purpose of artificially placing someone at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. They were successful.”

That is an unambiguously true statement. It was affirmed by U.S. intelligence agencies, and even the Senate Intelligence Committee – led at the time by Republicans – that found that Russia had an extensive program aimed at disseminating disinformation intended to benefit Trump and to harm Hillary Clinton. What’s more, Vladimir Putin confirmed it with Trump standing right next to him.

So, as usual, Fox News is manufacturing disparaging and dishonest depictions of Democrats. It’s the only thing they can do when their own GOP colleagues are being swallowed up in catastrophes of their own making. And despite how often Fox News does this, they really aren’t getting any better at it.

Fellow Losers: Trump’s Belated Support Proves Impotent as McCarthy Still Loses Votes for Speaker

The Republican Party appears to be hell bent on confirming all of the worst speculation that the American people had about how a GOP majority would govern if they were given the opportunity. The very first and most basic task of a new session in the House of Representatives is to elect the Speaker. But Republicans are predictably failing that test miserably.

Donald Trump

On Tuesday, after three attempts, Kevin McCarthy fell short of the majority of votes needed to become Speaker of the House. Then on Wednesday he lost again on the fourth, fifth, and sixth votes. However, there was one difference that some members of the Republican Party may have thought would help McCarthy get over the finish line.

Prior to the votes on Tuesday, Donald Trump had said nothing about the Speaker’s race. In fact, he spent his day disgorging outrage over his having lost the the 2020 presidential election, and repeating his tedious and fallacious allegations of election fraud.

RELATED: Trump Ignores McCarthy Speaker’s Vote to Persist in Obsessing Over His 2020 Election Fraud Lies

On Wednesday morning, however, Trump finally addressed the Speaker’s election and pleaded with his fellow Republicans to vote for McCarthy. But true to form, his endorsement was a madcap mess of all-caps blather that didn’t cite a single reason why McCarthy should be Speaker. Trump wrote that…

“Some really good conversations took place last night, and it’s now time for all of our GREAT Republican House Members to VOTE FOR KEVIN, CLOSE THE DEAL, TAKE THE VICTORY, & WATCH CRAZY NANCY PELOSI FLY BACK HOME TO A VERY BROKEN CALIFORNIA,THE ONLY SPEAKER IN U.S. HISTORY TO HAVE LOST THE ‘HOUSE’ TWICE! REPUBLICANS, DO NOT TURN A GREAT TRIUMPH INTO A GIANT & EMBARRASSING DEFEAT. IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE, YOU DESERVE IT. Kevin McCarthy will do a good job, and maybe even a GREAT JOB – JUST WATCH!”

Apparently those “really good conversations” had zero effect on the GOP House members who have been voting against McCarthy. He didn’t sway a single vote. This is more evidence that Trump’s influence as a Republican leader and wannabe kingmaker has devolved into his being an impotent figurehead who no one is listening to.

What’s more, Trump’s endorsement is, as usual, a feast of lies and petty partisanship. To begin with, a McCarthy victory wouldn’t result in Nancy Pelosi being sent “BACK HOME TO A VERY BROKEN CALIFORNIA.” She remains a revered and historically significant member of Congress. And she is serving a state with a strong economy (the fifth largest in the world if it were a country), a budget surplus, and a popular governor, Gavin Newsom, who just won reelection in a landslide.

Also, Trump’s history is typically mangled. Pelosi was not “THE ONLY SPEAKER IN U.S. HISTORY TO HAVE LOST THE ‘HOUSE’ TWICE.” Sam Rayburn did so in the 1940’s and 1950’s. What Trump neglects to mention is that Pelosi also gained the House and the Speaker’s post twice. And she never lost a vote for Speaker by her caucus, which McCarthy has now done six times.

Trump is also warning Republicans against turning a “GREAT TRIUMPH INTO A GIANT & EMBARRASSING DEFEAT.” But the current GOP majority is one of the smallest ever. And that was after Republicans had promised a massive “red wave” in the November 2022 election. In other words, contrary to being a triumph, it was an epic embarrassment for the GOP, who even lost a seat in the Senate. And that was mostly due to Trump himself.

RELATED: Trump’s Truthless Temper Tantrum Over the Midterm Election Results is Just So Trumpy

The chaos unfolding in the House at the hands of the new Republican majority is pretty much what everyone expected. They are a party that brags about how much they hate government. Then, when they have some measure of authority, they screw things up just to prove their point.

As for Trump, the reputed leader of the GOP, and prospective nominee for president in 2024, he is proving just how inconsequential he really is by not being able to move a single vote for his candidate for Speaker. Just as he was unable to produce votes back in November. The question is: When will the rest of Republican Party recognize that Trump is dead weight and let him drift off? If they were smart they would help to advance his prosecution for the many crimes he has committed and be rid of him. That’s a big “if.”

Trump Ignores McCarthy Speaker’s Vote to Persist in Obsessing Over His 2020 Election Fraud Lies

The Trump Republican Party is beginning the new year just as one would have expected: With the division, animosity, and chaotic incompetence that has been the hallmark of Donald Trump’s brief and abhorrent political career.

Donald Trump, Kevin McCarthy

The election of the House Speaker is ordinarily a routine procedure that places the majority party’s leader in the Speaker’s chair. That isn’t happening this year because the GOP’s so-called “Freedom” Caucus is opposed to promoting Kevin McCarthy to that position without his agreement to essentially bow to their supremacy. That’s how McCarthy got the vote of Marjorie Taylor Greene, but he doesn’t have enough goodies to dispense in order to bribe the rest of his fellow Republican foes.

RELATED: Marjorie Taylor Greene: The GOP Will Govern Like the Mafia’s 5 Families in ‘The Godfather’

While McCarthy is fighting for his political life, his lord and savior, Donald Trump, is allowing him to sink into obscurity and the shame of failure. Never mind that Trump had previously endorsed McCarthy for speaker. He told Breitbart “News” that “Kevin has worked very hard. I think he deserves the shot.” And that “Hopefully he’s going to be very strong and going to be very good and he’s going to do what everybody wants.” Really? Everybody? Trump went on to make a direct appeal to his GOP pawns, saying that…

“I’m friendly with a lot of those people who are against Kevin. I think almost every one of them are very much inclined toward Trump, and me toward them. But I have to tell them, and I have told them, you’re playing a very dangerous game. […] It could be a doomsday scenario.”

This is another example just how impotent Trump has become as the reputed Republican leader and supposed kingmaker. He can’t even get his most ardent followers in Congress to back his candidate for this critical position. But then again, he isn’t really trying. In fact, Trump hasn’t even mentioned the Speaker’s vote at all in the days and hours prior to it.

RELATED: Trump Fluffs Kevin McCarthy for His Impotent Oratory Opposing Biden’s Build Back Better Bill

Instead, Trump has been posting bizarre comments and ludicrous videos on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, about his foremost obsession, the 2020 presidential election that he lost, and his deranged and baseless insistence that there was election fraud. Everything he posted were old and already debunked conspiracy theories.

Sadly, Trump’s morning rant was also focused on defamatory allegations against innocent persons whose lives have been disrupted by his lies. Ruby Freeman, a Georgia poll worker, was mentioned by name as Trump raged “Wow! Has anyone seen the Ruby Freeman ‘contradictions’ of her sworn testimony?” Of course, no one has seen them because they don’t exist. But that didn’t deter Trump from disgorging his outrage in a manner that only affirms his schizoid deterioration, saying that…

“What will the Great State of Georgia do with the Ruby Freeman MESS? Why not just tell the TRUTH, get rid of the turmoil and guilt, and take our Country back from the evils and treachery of the Radical Left monsters who want to see America die? MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Seriously? The “evils and treachery of the Radical Left monsters who want to see America die?” Does Trump think he’s a character in “The Game of Thrones”? Is he so far removed from reality that he believes this hyperbolized hogwash? Trump is taking his delusions straight down into the trenches of the worst of QAnon idiocy.

Unfortunately, there are still a few blockheaded cult followers who are willing to ride that train right off the tracks and into the Sea of Psychotica. And Trump clearly thinks that this crackpot crusade is more important than who leads his party in the House of Representatives. Or perhaps he just knows that no one is listening to him anymore and is hunkering down in the bunker of his narcissistic neurosis. Either way, he’s a portrait of a pathetic loser who thinks he’s a messiah.

RELATED: The Party of Trump and QAnon: Republicans Worship an Impotent Loser

UPDATE: McCarthy failed to get enough votes to become Speaker on three attempts, after which the House adjourned. However, Trump finally made some remarks about Republicans in Congress. But he wasn’t particularly helpful. He posted that…

“There is so much unnecessary turmoil in the Republican Party, in large part do to people like the Old Broken Crow, Mitch McConnell, his ‘wife’, Coco Chow, who is a sellout to China, and their RINO allies, who make it difficult for everyone else by constantly capitulating to Hopeless Joe Biden and the Democrats. The 1.7 Trillion Dollar Green New Deal ‘booster’ that McConnell and the RINOS handed to the Dems last week was a real downer and embarrassment to Republicans!”

First of all, Trump still didn’t stand up for McCarthy or ask people to vote for him. Secondly, he insulted Mitch McConnell and flung a racist slur at his “wife” (which was curiously in quotes as if he doesn’t really believe they’re married). Third, he took some incoherent swipes at President Biden, who can hardly be called “Hopeless” if he keeps beating Trump and the GOP. And lastly, Trump is too far gone to recognize that he is the biggest “embarrassment to Republicans.” This really couldn’t be more fun, or a better way to start the new year.

Trump Suffers Massive Ego Hemorrhage, Gives Thanks for ‘Magnificent Compliment’ He Gave Himself

Whenever Donald Trump perceives his public image being damaged by the copious quantities of personal problems for which he is largely the cause, he resorts to praising himself with fake flattery because, in his nakedly narcissistic fog, he can’t find anyone else to do it.

Donald Trump Circling the Drain

Trump is someone who is so pitifully pathetic that he has to repeatedly remind his glassy-eyed cult followers that he is their “favorite president.” He spends an enormous amount of time regaling himself with accolades for “achievements” that he never accomplished, and for “victories” that exist only in his perverse imagination. Which is the sort of derangement that leads to comments like this one that he posted on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social

“‘TRUMP WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING’ One of most often used current phrases or statements. Wow, such a magnificent compliment. Thank you!”

The “magnificent compliment” that Trump is so conceitedly celebrating is one that is “most often used” by himself. If it is uttered by anyone else, it is generally with his prodding. So in addition to being factually ludicrous, it is a contrivance that Trump has invented and disseminated in order to fluff up his own ego.

Trump stoops to these depths of desperation because he is sinking in political and legal quicksand. His Trump Organization was recently found guilty of financial fraud. The House Select Committee investigating the January insurrection that he incited has issued criminal referrals to the the Department of Justice. He has Special Counsel Jack Smith investigating his criminal activities related to the January 6th insurrection that he incited, and the theft and hoarding of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort/home. And his tax returns for the past six years were just made public after his frantic efforts to keep them secret.

No wonder Trump is so hysterically hyping himself. Along with the concocted compliment above, Trump posted a list of politicians that he undeservedly took credit for electing, despite the vast majority of them being in safe seats in red districts.. He also bragged about defeating other politicians that opposed him, who all happened to be Republicans. But for some reason he neglected to mention all of his endorsed candidates who failed, making him this electoral cycle’s biggest loser.

RELATED: Donald Trump is The Biggest Loser: Post-Midterm Poll Affirms What Everyone Already Knows

Trump went on to whine about his having been cast off from some social media sites due to his rampant disinformation and incitation to violence. He singled out Facebook for criticism saying that…

“Facebook has lost over 80 Billion Dollars in Value since ‘deplatforming’ President Donald J. Trump. Also, it has gotten very BORING and UNINTERESTING. That stupid, unnecessary, and probably illegal move is now considered a major business mistake. I agree!”

First of all, notice that in his post Trump is agreeing with himself. Totally normal, right? More to the point, he is demonstrating his extraordinary ignorance by asserting that Facebook’s stock decline had anything to do with Trump being banished. The Internet sector was hit hard due to a variety of factors, including the COVID-19 pandemic, inflation, and the fact that it had risen to levels entirely out of proportion to its earnings potential.

Despite the 65% decline in 2022, Facebook’s parent company, META, is still a $300 billion corporation. Compare that to the shell company that was expected to take Trump’s Truth Social public, Digital World Acquisition Corporation (DWAC), that lost 85% of its stock value last year.

Trump also failed to mention the financial state of his own businesses. With the release of his tax returns America learned that Trump lost over $300 million dollars in the past six years. And that was even after selling properties that he inherited from his father, and gouging guests at his hotels during his occupation of the White House, including his staff, the Secret Service, and foreign dignitaries.

That isn’t exactly a record of being “right about everything.” To the contrary, Trump may have set a record for wrongness. It’s a legacy that will endure, especially considering how awful he is at generating positive press. For instance…

LOL: Trump Starts 2023 with a New Year’s Eve Press Conference at Mar-a-Lago but Nobody Came

HAPPY NEW YEAR! As we say goodbye to 2022, we can look back at a year with some notable victories, as well as some difficult hardships. While COVID is still with us, it has receded from being the oppressive plague that shrouded humankind in fear and mourning. And while Vladimir Putin continues his assault, Ukraine has valiantly defended itself against the Russian aggressors. And while inflation has lessened the dollar’s value, job creation and wages have increased by record amounts.

Click here to Tweet this article

The same dichotomies were present last year politically. While Republicans secured a majority (barely) in the House of Representatives, Democrats gained a seat in the Senate, made significant inroads in state legislatures, and thwarted the predicted “red wave.”

Now, if New Year’s Eve at Mar-a-Lago is any indication, we can look forward to a year of more failure for Donald Trump and his worshipful GOP cult followers. According to reports from the snooty soiree, Trump had invited the press to attend an end-of-year avail at his resort/home. However, in a prelude to what 2023 holds for him, not a single representative from a reputable news organization showed up. Even Trump-fluffing outlets like Newsmax and Fox News declined his invitation.

The media that refused to waste their New Year’s Eve on another Trump propaganda spew didn’t miss very much. He spoke for fewer than five minutes, and dodged pertinent questions about abortion and his prospective GOP primary opponent, Ron DeSantis (video below). He did, however, manage to squeeze out a response to a blatantly biased inquiry into his lies about the FBI and Department of Justice persecuting him. The question came from a “correspondent” from Steve Bannon’s “War Room”, vlog, Jayne Zirkle, who asked…

Zirkle: Mr. President, the DoJ and the FBI have weaponized against you. Will you commit to going after them in your second term?
Trump: I think it’s disgraceful what’s happened with the FBI and the weaponization of justice. There’s never been anything like this, and it is disgraceful.

RELATED: Is Trump’s Rabid Rant Accusing the FBI of ‘Changing the Election Results’ Proof He’s Nuts?

Trump also replied to a question about how his campaign for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination is going. He said simply that it is going “very well.” Which is puzzling considering that he hasn’t had any campaign events, or even left his Mar-a-Lago bunker, since he announced his candidacy a month and a half ago.

The snub that Trump received from the press isn’t likely to soothe his fierce animosity toward the media and the Constitution’s First Amendment mandating that they operate freely. He has already dubbed them “the enemy of the people,” and just yesterday posted a rant on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, expressing his hatred for the press and his desire to see these American businesses and workers suffer.

SEE THIS: Trump’s 2023 New Year’s Wish: Hopefully American Newspapers Will Go Out of Business

Trump also celebrated the lower ratings that television news have received this year, although he clearly has no idea why that is. And in the same post he lashed out at Fox News, who he said is struggling because “they never say ‘Trump’ or TRUTH, never talk about the Rigged Presidential Election, and is a Fake Polling Network.” Yeah, that’s why.

The wrath that Trump is directing at Fox News now may be because he just heard that his favorite Fox flunky, Sean Hannity, told the House Select Committee investing the January 6th insurrection, with regard to the 2020 election being “rigged and stolen,” that I did not believe it for one second.” That’s gotta hurt.

And with that, Trump delivered his wishes for the nation on this holiday saying

“HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of the Radical Left Democrats, Marxist Lunatics, China loving Coco Chow and her Obedient Husband, Mitch, and Clueless RINOS, who are working so hard to DESTROY our once great Country.”

Such uplifting, heartwarming, and positive thoughts for America’s future from the twice-impeached, former reality TV game show host, and soon-to-be criminal defendant.
