Trump Madness on Meet the Press: Jail the January 6th Committee and Pardon January 6th Rioters

In his first interview since the election last month, Donald Trump has cemented his reputation as a pathological liar and a thoroughly delusional distorter of reality. He is proving that he is consistent, at least with regard to his determination to mislead the nation in order to pursue his dangerously dystopic agenda and advance his aspirations of authoritarian rule.

Donald Trump Insurrection

Trump sat down with NBC’s Kristen Welker on “Meet the Press” for a typically awkward discussion wherein he filibustered, interrupted, and disgorged many of the same flagrant falsehoods that he has been disseminating for years at his cult rallies and in friendly venues such as Fox News, where at least 14 of his new White House nominees have come from.

SEE THIS: Trump’s Nominees Are Largely Fox News Alum, Mar-a-Lago Patrons, and Billionaires

Among the topics that Trump mangled were his refusal to concede that he lost the 2020 election, his denial that tariffs would raise prices for consumers, and his maligning migrants as murderers, and his ludicrous new claim that the 2024 election was also rigged.

Trump was also asked about the January 6th insurrection that he incited. His answers were the same as he has given previously, but still troubling with regard to two associated aspects of it…

These opinions could not be more distant from the sort of rational thinking that Americans expect from their leaders. He is declaring that he wants elected members of Congress to be imprisoned for fulfilling their duties to investigate the violent insurrection. And he is simultaneously advocating that the criminal insurrectionists who assaulted police offices as they stormed the Capitol be freed and forgiven for their crimes, which he promises to do on his first day in office…

Welker: You promised to pardon those who attacked the Capitol on January 6th. Are you still vowing to follow through with that promise?
Trump: We’re looking at it right now. Most likely, yeah. […]
Welker: But you’re going to consider pardoning even those who pleaded guilty to crimes, including assaulting police officers?
Trump: Well, sometimes they say, “Here’s your choice.”

In the interview, Trump was also asked directly if he thought that Liz Cheney should go to jail. He replied…

“Cheney did something that’s inexcusable, along with [Rep. Bennie] Thompson and the people on the un-select committee of political thugs and, you know, creeps. So the unselect committee went through a year and a half of testimony. Wait. They deleted and destroyed all evidence of — that they found. You know why? Because Nancy Pelosi was guilty. […] Everybody on that committee, for what they did, honestly, they should go to jail.”

Every word of that rant is demonstrably false. What Cheney did that was “inexcusable” was to acknowledge the evidence of Trump’s misconduct. And Trump’s claim that “They deleted and destroyed all evidence” has been repeatedly debunked. In fact, only “temporary” records that were not part of the Committee’s probe were not preserved. Everything else was saved and is available online.

Furthermore, Trump’s accusation that Pelosi is “guilty” of some jailable offense is wholly without merit or reason. He is obliquely referring to an offer he claims to have made to provide 10,000 National Guard troops on January 6th, an offer that was never made according to multiple sources, including his own Defense Department appointees. In any case, it was the president, Trump, not Pelosi, who was in charge of security in D.C.

MORE ON BOTH OF THOSE HERE: Dementia J. Trump Confuses Nancy Pelosi and Nikki Haley In a Lie-Riddled Rant About January 6th

Trump also said that he would not direct his Attorney General or FBI Director to go after the Committee, but that “I think that they’ll have to look at that.” So he is, in effect, telling them to go after the Committee members, and probably others as well, including President Biden, his son Hunter, and prosecutors such as Jack Smith and Fani Willis. Much like a mob boss, he doesn’t have to give explicit orders to his subordinates, because they know what he means. They were hired to carry out his crusade of vengeance, and they know it.

We are barreling headlong at breakneck speed into a backwards world where lawmakers are locked up and lawbreakers are set free. And it’s going to take a mighty effort to resist this reversible perversion of politics. However, there are more of us than there are of them, and we have the law on our side. Even though it may not look like it sometimes.

Trump and the GOP Affirm Their Reputations as Moronic Hypocrites After Hunter Biden’s Pardon

Trying to find hypocrisy or stupidity on the part of Donald Trump and his MAGA minions is about as difficult as trying to find stolen classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. They are virtually everywhere. And making the task even easier is that Trump et al seem to be intent on festooning their foolishness with flags and flashing red lights.

Click here to Tweet this article

Trump: I only pardon the best people.

The news that President Biden has issued a pardon for his son Hunter has ignited another firestorm of performative outrage on the part of the Trumpists. All of a sudden they are determined to take the sort of principled stance that has never been a part of their persona. They are now expressing their shock and dismay over what they are falsely insisting is a display of immorality on the part of the President. Never mind the obvious moral decrepitude of their own Dear Leader Trump…

SEE THIS: Trump’s Refusal to Sign the Required Ethics Agreement is His Virtual Promise to Violate It

There could be some reasonable criticisms of Biden’s decision to pardon his son. For instance, he could have waited until after Hunter’s trials and sentencing. Then he could have just commuted the sentence if there was one. But the Trumpian critics never get close to any reasonable arguments.

Since the ethically deficient fish stinks from the head, let’s begin this examination of MAGA morality with Trump’s response to the pardon. Late Sunday evening Trump posted the following message on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social

“Does the Pardon given by Joe to Hunter include the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years? Such an abuse and miscarriage of Justice!”

Seriously? Hunter Biden did not hurt anyone but himself with his violations of tax reporting and his misstatements on a form when purchasing a gun. And he made restitution by taking full responsibility and paying all his back taxes and penalties. He certainly didn’t storm the Capital causing millions of dollars of damages. He didn’t assault police officers, putting 140 of them in the hospital. He didn’t threaten the lives of members of Congress and their staff, and even the Vice-President.

In short, there is no rational comparison between Hunter’s actions and those of Trump’s January 6th insurrectionists. And there is no justifiable argument to grant the rioters pardons. For Trump to even bring it up is preposterous and an insult to the victims that his mob attacked in an effort to undermine American democracy. However, the criticisms of the pardon by the MAGA crowd were equally as devoid of reason. There were three main categories of that criticism.

First of all, they characterized the pardon as an unprecedented abuse of presidential power. In order to make that complaint, they had to ignore the points that Biden made in his official statement that Hunter was the subject of selective prosecution. Even more egregious, they had to ignore Trump’s pardons of his criminal accomplices, including Paul Manafort, Roger Stone, Steve Bannon, Michael Flynn, Charles Kushner, Dinesh D’Souza, and dozens more.

Secondly, they claimed that Hunter’s pardon would justify Trump pardoning others in the future, including the January 6th insurrectionists. However, Trump has been promising to pardon them for years, and long before Biden pardoned his son. Trump doesn’t care about justifications, and wouldn’t bother with them. He does what he wants irrespective of what anyone else – or the law – has to say about it. If Biden had not pardoned Hunter, Trump would still pardon the January 6th mob, and many others who don’t warrant pardons.

Thirdly, they are yammering about whether Biden lied about his intention to pardon Hunter. He didn’t lie. He changed his mind. And with good reason considering the vengeance seeking extremists who have explicitly targeted Hunter (Kash Patel, Pam Bondi, Tulsi Gabbard, etc.) that have been nominated to serve in Trump’s Cabinet. Patel, Trump’s proposed FBI Director, has stated unambiguously that Hunter is guilty – not allegedly guilty – of crimes that he has never been tried for, and for which their is no evidence of guilt.

When Trump’s Republican comrades can accept that they are all flaming hypocrites for supporting someone who has been convicted of 34 felonies, and has been adjudicated as a rapist with dozens of other accusations of sexual harassment and assault, and has been ordered to pay nearly half a billion dollars in penalties for financial fraud, and has been prohibited from operating any charities in New York, and has been caught hoarding classified documents in his Mar-a-Lago home/hotel, and has attempted to overthrow a fair and legal election… then they can maybe have something to say about President Biden and his son, Hunter. Until then, STFU!

PROJECTION: The Creators of Trump’s Project 2025 Say Biden is Plotting to Retain Power By Force

The extremist right-wing faction in America that forms the core of the Cult of Trump has long been defined by the regressive policies advanced by the ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation. It’s an organization that has recently enjoyed a spike in media attention with its release of “Project 2025,” a 900 page handbook for fascism that was authored by many of Donald Trump’s closest associates.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump Insurrection

In case you missed it, Project 2025 is a manual for constructing an authoritarian state run by MAGA Republicans. It calls for expanding presidential powers to exert unprecedented control over all executive branch agencies, It proposes to terminate civil service staffers and replace them with MAGA loyalists, enacting voter suppression measures, repealing healthcare legislation, deregulating corporations, imposing media censorship, and more. It’s so abhorrent and unpopular that Trump has tried to distance himself from it…

SEE THIS: Trump Denies Knowing Anything About the ‘Abysmal’ Project 2025 that He Definitely Knows About

A new report reveals the lengths that Trump and his Heritage Foundation confederates will go to consolidate power and suppress the democratic principles enshrined in the Constitution. As reported by the Associated Press

“A conservative think tank that is planning for a complete overhaul of the federal government in the event of a Republican presidential win is suggesting that President Joe Biden might try to hold the White House ‘by force’ if he loses the November election.

“The Heritage Foundation’s warning — which goes against Biden’s own public statements — appeared in a report released Thursday [alleging that] the current president and his administration not only possesses the means, but perhaps also the intent, to circumvent constitutional limits and disregard the will of the voters should they demand a new president.”

That, of course, is totally absurd. And it is another textbook example of the projection that is practiced by the far-right. It is, in fact, precisely what Trump has already tried to do, and threatens to do again with what we can now call “Projection 2025.”

For instance, Trump incited the violent January 6, 2021, insurrection that ransacked Congress and put a 140 police officers in the hospital. He has literally called for “terminating” the Constitution. He has showed utter contempt for the will of voters with his relentless and baseless assertions that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him. He also conspired to replace legitimate electors with his own fake alternatives. And he and his surrogates have collaborated with Russian operatives to spread disinformation.

The allegations by the Heritage hacks have no basis in reality. It is Biden, who unlike Trump, has promised to accept the election results. It is Biden who respects the limitations on government and the presidency. That was made more evident following the Supreme Court’s finding that a president can be immune from criminal prosecution for crimes that he or she actually commits. Trump, on the other hand, embraced that ruling and falsely claimed that it “exonerated” him…

MORE HERE: Total Insanity: Trump Says the Supreme Court’s Immunity Decision is a ‘Total Exoneration’

The Heritage Foundation went on to make preposterous charges about what it called “Biden’s ‘weaponization of government’ and ‘record of violating norms and constitutional limitations on executive power.'” Once again, that is pure projection, and a better description of Trump’s behavior, than anything remotely associated with Biden.

In fact, the Heritage Foundation’s president, Kevin Roberts, leveled an overt threat saying that “we are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be.” In other words, he is saying that the left had better acquiesce to his demands or there will be bloodshed.

All of these ludicrous and dangerous charges by the Heritage Foundation are plainly efforts to deflect the legitimate observations made by Democrats and other patriots about the Foundation’s own reprehensible activities. It’s the old “I’m rubber, you’re glue” defense strategy that they learned in kindergarten. Unfortunately for them, it isn’t going to work for one simple reason: The rest of the electorate has grown up and recognizes their immature and deceitful tactics.

LOCK HIM UP: After Guilty Verdicts, Poll Finds that More Americans Say Trump Should Go To Prison

Even before Donald Trump was found guilty on 34 counts of felony falsification of business records (in his so-called “Hush Money” case), he and his MAGA media minions were salivating over the prospect of his conviction. That’s right. They were convinced that it would result in some sort of alternative universe backlash and that his popularity would skyrocket.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Prison

Never mind that at the same time that Trump was supposedly happily embracing the legal catastrophe he faced, he was also engaged in daily diatribes against the court, the judge, the prosecutors, the witnesses, the jurors, the Department of Justice, and the Biden administration. All of whom he sought to blame for his circumstances that he portrayed as both awesome and abominable.

SEE THIS: Crybaby Trump Whines that ‘I Am a Political Prisoner,’ then Proves He Has No Idea What that Means

However, a new poll was released after the verdict was handed down that may conflict with Trump’s delusional appraisal of his situation. And the findings are not merely that Trump is guilty, but that he deserves his next term be one that is behind bars. As it turns out, the nation’s voters may not be as anxious to board the Trump train as he thinks…

“In the wake of former President Donald Trump’s felony conviction last week for falsifying business records to hide a hush money payment to a porn star, President Biden (46%) now leads his Republican rival (44%) in a two-way race for the White House for the first time since October 2023, according to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll” [and also that] “more Americans think Trump should get a prison sentence (43%) than think he should not (40%).”

Uh-oh! A plurality of the American people think that Trump should be sent to the Big House, not the White House. And it’s even worse than it seems. While the 43-40 split may not appear to be a significant difference, many of the 40% who did not agree that Trump should go to prison still believe that he committed a serious crime, that he should be held accountable, and that the verdict was fair…

[More people – a 51% majority] think the New York jury reached the ‘right verdict’ in Trump’s hush money case than think the verdict was ‘wrong’ (30%). Likewise, more Americans than ever (54%) now believe Trump committed the crime for which he was on trial.” [Also] “Overall, 52% say Trump’s conviction was a ‘fair outcome meant to hold him accountable for his own actions’; just 35% who say it was ‘an unfair outcome meant to damage him politically.'”

So Trump still maintains his base – and ceiling – of cult disciples at about 30%. Everyone else thinks he’s guilty and that some sort of punishment would be appropriate to hold him accountable. And that’s just with regard to the just concluded case in Manhattan. It doesn’t take into consideration the three other indictments he’s facing in Washington, D.C. (for inciting an insurrection), in Florida (for stealing and lying about classified documents), and in Georgia (for election interference).

Trump apologists on Fox News and elsewhere are at a loss for any rational explanations to arrive at some form of exoneration for him. They all sing from the same hymnal that their Dear Leader is a victim of nefarious forces bent on destroying him and America. For example, Jonathan Turley, the Trump-fluffing law professor who frequently waxes idiotic on Fox News, had this to say…

“It would be absurd to sentence him to jail. He is an elderly first offender. Non-violent crime. In a very controversial prosecution.”

First of all, the only thing controversial about Trump’s prosecution is that he has become the first former president to ever be convicted of felony crimes. The jury voted unanimously 34 times to convict him. Apparently it wasn’t controversial to the people who saw all of the evidence and swore to uphold the law.

Secondly, many first offenders are sentenced to prison. And that includes Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer. And Cohen’s conviction and sentence were for crimes related to the very same ones that Trump was convicted for and, in fact, initiated.

Finally, Turley’s assertion that Trump shouldn’t get a prison sentence because he is “elderly” is especially telling. If Trump is unfit to serve time for crimes he committed, how can Turley – or any voter – regard him as fit to serve in the White House?

In the meantime, Trump is continuing behave as if he’s daring the judge to incarcerate him. In a speech to his cult followers at a Las Vegas rally on Sunday, Trump spoke out in defense of his fellow criminals that assaulted Congress on January 6, 2021. He said that…

“Those J6 warriors. They were warriors, But they were really more than anything else — they’re victims.”

Just as a reminder, we’re talking about violent mobs that put 140+ police officers in the hospital, battered down doors, broke windows, vandalized the seat of American democracy, and threatened the lives of members of Congress and their staffs. And Trump has variously described them as FBI operatives, Antifa agitators, and hostages. But now he says that they were “warriors.”

Which makes them, in fact, an army of insurrectionists who had declared war on the United States with an invasion of its government facilities. And it was all at the direction of now-convicted felon Donald Trump. So do you think he should be sentenced to prison? That shouldn’t be a controversial question for most Americans.

Trump and Fox News are Priming the MAGA Cult for Devastating and Dangerous Disappointment

The trial of Donald Trump for election interference and campaign finance fraud (sometimes known as the “Hush Money” trial), has wrapped its fourth week. Throughout that time the prosecution has presented witnesses whose testimony has been credible and severely damaging to Trump’s fading prospects for an acquittal. And the cross examinations by Trump’s defense counsel have been wholly ineffectual, and at times even beneficial to the prosecution.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump Insurrection

Consequently, Trump has resorted to pitifully lame outbursts that range from whining that he is the victim of a “hoax” prosecution that is being run by President Biden (for which he has never provided a shred of evidence), to infantile insults aimed at the judge and other parties to the proceedings. Yet somehow, in the midst of all this seething angst, Trump still babbles about how splendidly everything is going.

SEE THIS: CRYBABY TRUMP Says ‘The Case is Going Fine,’ While Also Whining About How Badly It’s Going

In what has become a staple of Trump’s hallway harangues, he has been brandishing batches of print outs provided by his campaign caretakers. This stack of carefully vetted emotional support documents consists of entirely of articles by Trump’s Fox News flunkies and assorted legal hacks who are unflinchingly devoted to Dear Leader.

This courtside ritual sees Trump rifling through the documents and reciting the names of his TV legal advisers. What it doesn’t do is offer any coherent argument in his defense or evidence of his innocence. He doesn’t even bother to quote from the articles he is flaunting.

However, on Friday Trump posted a series of citations from some these legal “experts” on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social. This should give everyone an idea of why he is so convinced that he will prevail in his criminal cases. Trump began with own fact-free decree of confidence, shouting in all caps that, “THERE IS NO CRIME, ACCORDING TO ALMOST EVERYONE, AND IT IS TOO LATE FOR OUR CORRUPT GOVERNMENT TO CREATE ONE!” What follows are some of the “everyone” to whom he is referring…

  • Jonathan Turley: “This case is becoming legally obscene…Defense doing well, have been all along.”
  • Laura Ingraham: “This is a papered over political hitjob further sullied by Merchan’s overbroad and unconstitutional Gag Order.”
  • Kerri Urbahn, Legal Editor, Fox News: “Not going well for prosecution.”
  • Alan Dershowitz: “Trump’s Trial Will Go Down In The History Books As A Stupendous Legal Catastrophe.”
  • Gregg Jarrett: “This case is a partisan ‘witch hunt’ —a trial in search of an imaginary crime. It can’t be found because it doesn’t exist […] The case against Trump has been on life support.”
  • John Yoo: “Based on everything seen so far, the prosecution has not proven a single element of the ‘crime’!”

Notice that the common denominator of all of these Trump-fluffers is their association with Fox News. And you can add Sean Hannity, Jeanine Pirro, Mark Levin, and Jesse Watters to this list of legal losers. And Trump has blocked out true legal experts such as Lawrence Tribe, Andrew Weissmann, Neal katyal, Joyce Vance, and many others. All of whom regard the prosecution’s case as strong and have no trouble defining the laws that Trump has broken. Even Trump’s own Attorney General, Bill Barr, said that “If even half of what [the indictment] says is true, HE’S TOAST!”

Making matters worse, Watters delivered a monologue Friday night that demonstrated the delusional perspective that permeates the MAGA minions. Ignoring the constant barrage of hostilities emanating from Trump and his confederates, Watters complained that it was actually Democrats who are disgruntled, saying that “There’s a lot of anger, confusion, and sadness, in the Democrat Party.” He didn’t cite any examples of that, but he did make the following ridiculous analogy…

“They wanted to arrest this guy for a decade, and now that he’s in court, and now that they’re in court they’re complaining? Like a dog chasing a car, as soon as they catch it, they don’t know what to do. Democrats aren’t happy no matter what happens.”

Watters included a clip of Trump saying “Has anyone ever noticed that there’s just no happiness on the left? They’re not happy. They’re not happy people.” Which is yet another example of projection by Trump. His congenital unhappiness and anger is a hallmark of his public persona.

UPDATE: Eric Trump was on Mark Levin’s Fox News program Saturday night and disagreed with his father’s assertion that Democrats are not happy…

But that isn’t what’s really troubling about all of this. A much bigger problem is that Trump and Fox News are flagrantly lying about the potential outcome of his trial. They are assuring the cultists that Trump will triumph, when the most likely result is just the opposite. And by pretending that Trump is winning his legal battles, they are setting up the MAGA cult for a crushing disappointment.

That could result in an outburst of civil unrest that could make the January 6th insurrection look like a walk in the park. And that’s exactly why they are doing it. They want riots and violence and hordes of StormTrumpers filling the streets. They haven’t been able to gin that up during the trial – not for lack of trying – but this sort of deception could produce the result they hope for.

The nation’s law enforcement needs to be ready for that should it occur. And the responsibility for any harm must placed on Trump, Fox News, and their political and media accomplices, for their advocacy of violence and their inciting of it by these flagrant lies. They know precisely what they are doing, and what the consequences are. They must not be allowed to get away with it.

Trump Weighs in on the Campus Israeli/Palestinian Protests in the Most Trumpian Way Imaginable

For the past couple of weeks American college campuses have been roiled by student protests over the conflict in Gaza and the overly harsh measures taken by Israel against the Palestinian residents. Most Americans support Israel’s right to defend itself, particularly after the brutal terrorist attack on October 7th. But the nation is united against the massacre of civilians by the Netanyahu regime.

Donald Trump Insurrection

While it is nearly impossible to get Donald Trump to shut up about any public matter that he thinks he can exploit to his advantage, it took many days of national demonstrations to finally get him to stake out a position on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. And not surprisingly, he has adopted one that features himself as the savior and the only person capable of restoring peace. Which is his knee-jerk reaction to nearly every crisis.

SEE THIS: Self-Appointed Pseudo Messiah Trump Decrees that ‘Nobody Else’ But Him Can Keep Israel Safe

On Tuesday Trump took to his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, to post a couple of comments that said much more than he intended. The first said that…

“Tremendous damage done too, when you look at that building. That’s a landmark and it’s really been damaged badly by these people.”

And the second said that…

“People have to RESPECT LAW AND ORDER in this Country.”

Those are extraordinarily oblivious statements that, for most Americans, will only serve as reminders of the violent insurrection that Trump incited on January 6, 2021. During that riot, that was deliberately designed to obstruct Congress from certifying the 2020 presidential election, there was also a building – the United States Congress – that was a landmark and that was also badly damaged by the domestic terrorists of Trump’s cult. In fact, the StormTrumpers caused millions of dollars in damage to the Capitol, as well as injuries to more than 140 law enforcement officers.

That is Trump’s idea of “RESPECT[ing] LAW AND ORDER.” But he wasn’t finished with his ludicrous ranting about the campus protests. He later posted another comment that revealed just how deeply deranged he is, and by association, how gullible and dangerous his cult disciples are. Trump wrote that…

“Do you think that the Radical Left Lunatics that are causing all of the CHAOS at our Colleges and Universities are doing so in order to take the FOCUS away from our Southern Border, where millions of people, many from prisons and mental institutions, are pouring into our Country? Just askin’…???”

That’s right. Trump is dispensing a crackpot conspiracy theory that the student protesters aren’t really there to express their disapproval of Israel’s hostilities toward Palestinian civilians. According To Trump they are covert immigration activists engaged in a clandestine mission to deflect attention away from refugees seeking safety and freedom in the U.S.

What a devious plot. And one for which Trump has no shred of evidence. So where did Trump get this preposterous theory? Apparently from his asinine and demented imagination that is obsessed with the nether regions of the nation. What’s more, he is joining the MAGA GOP crowd in maligning the protesters as anti-Semitic. But the way that we know that that is utter nonsense is that if these protesters were anti-Semitic, Trump would be calling them “very fine people.”

So Trump’s morning outrage has covered his notion that thousands of American students across the country are secretly fighting to bring foreign convicts and mental patients into America. And it also served as reminder of the horrific physical and property damage caused by his January 6th insurrectionists. All of which means that Trump will regard this as a productive day and take the rest of it off. Which he will surely appreciate because he has another strenuous day of napping in court tomorrow.

Crybaby Trump is Miffed that His MAGA Cult Isn’t Storming the Courts to Protest His Persecution

On the first day of testimony in Donald Trump’s election interference (aka “hush money”) trial in New York, the defendant sat ruefully contemplating his fate. When he wasn’t nodding off, he is reported to have appeared tired and annoyed as the opening statements were delivered.

Donald Trump Pacifier Fox

Trump’s attorney embarked on a bold strategy to argue that reimbursing his lawyer for a $130,000.00 payment to buy the silence of a porn star in order to improperly influence an election, then lying about it on his financial reports, had nothing to with him. Of course not. He’s just a pure-hearted, selfless, martyr trying to save America.

SEE THIS: Trump Casts Himself as ‘a Modern Day Nelson Mandela’ While Lashing Out at All of His Judges

As the trial proceeds, Trump is undergoing some severe stress and annoyance at how his MAGA cult is failing to sufficiently support him in his hour of need. On Monday morning he took to his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, to whip them into shape and incite them into taking more forceful action on his behalf. Trump wrote that…

“America Loving Protesters should be allowed to protest at the front steps of Courthouses, all over the Country, just like it is allowed for those who are destroying our Country on the Radical Left, a two tiered system of justice. Free Speech and Assembly has been ‘CHILLED’ for USA SUPPORTERS. GO OUT AND PEACEFULLY PROTEST. RALLY BEHIND MAGA. SAVE OUR COUNTRY! ‘THE ONLY THING YOU HAVE TO FEAR IS FEAR ITSELF.'”

Trump is implying that “America Loving” protesters (which in his noxious narcissism means “Trump loving”) are not being “allowed” to gather to support him. But who is stopping them? There just isn’t any real enthusiasm among his minions to show up. So in his dismay over the tepid turnout, Trump is trying to fire up his flock the way he did on January 6, 2021, for the insurrection at the Capitol. Only this time he wants them to crash courthouses across the country.

It’s a safe bet that Trump will not get his wish. There have not been any notable demonstrations at any of the trials or hearings held for Trump in the past. Protesters have regularly been outnumbered by reporters. Which, while it’s something that Trump enjoys to exploit, it doesn’t translate into support or, eventually, votes. To the contrary, it is likely alienating more people, who increasingly find Trump to be repugnant and unrelatable. And that’s despite the characterization that Trump’s lawyer made about him in court Monday morning…

UPDATE: Trump is whining Tuesday morning about his cult disciples not coming out to support him. And he’s blaming it on — — the police?

Trump’s Promise to Free January 6 Insurrectionists is a Recruiting Plan for the Next Insurrection

The 2024 campaign platform for Donald Trump has been conspicuously devoid of any rational substance. From the outset he has been singularly focused on his “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was “rigged and stolen” from him; that migrants were “invading” America in order commit crimes and vote for Democrats; and that “retribution” must be dealt out to his enemies in politics and the press.

Donald Trump Insurrection

None of those issues are of the least bit of interest to most American voters. They aren’t even representative of what matters to Republicans, such as banning all abortions and granting human status to frozen embryos; more tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy; arming every citizen with AR-15s; and always, clamping down on any media that isn’t sufficiently worshipful.

SEE THIS: THEY’RE EVIL! Wannabe Dictator Trump Says MSNBC ‘Shouldn’t Even Be Allowed’ to Be On the Air

This week Trump added a new plank to his perverse platform. It’s closely related to his election denialism, but hits more specifically on a select faction of his cult followers. Trump promised in a comment posted to his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, to free the January 6th insurrections that he incited…

“My first acts as your next President will be to Close the Border, DRILL, BABY, DRILL, and Free the January 6 Hostages being wrongfully imprisoned!”

Let’s set aside Trump’s nonsense about closing the border (which he never did when he was occupying the White House), and his incessant chanting about drilling for oil (when the U.S. is currently producing more oil than ever, and more than any other country). Trump’s pledge to release violent prisoners (about 1,400 of them), many of whom pleaded guilty (about 800), is a direct assault on the concept of “law and order.” It is also an insult to the police officers who were attacked that day.

What’s more, Trump’s use of the term “hostages” is an additional offense to the victims in law enforcement and the members of Congress, and their staffs, who were the targets of the StormTrumpers. Hostages are innocent persons being held for ransom by criminals or terrorists. The January 6th insurrectionists were convicted by juries for having committed crimes against America. Some of them were specifically convicted of seditious conspiracy and sentenced to terms of 10, 15, 20 years or more.

There is an enormous difference between Trump’s offensive rhetoric of “hostages,” and the savagery of the rioters he now wants to forgive. But mercy is not what’s really on his mind. Trump couldn’t care less about the well warranted misfortune of the January 6th insurrectionists. If he did, he could have issued pardons before his term ended on January 20th. The fact that he didn’t do so is evidence of his insincerity.

So why is Trump making these brash declarations three years later? Perhaps because he wants his MAGA armies to believe that he has their backs when the next insurrection is waged. By pretending that he’s concerned about the January 6th troops, he is giving assurances to future traitors that they will not suffer any consequences if they engage in similar lawlessness. Trump is, in fact, recruiting the next wave of insurrectionists.

That’s why Trump’s embrace of these criminals, no matter how disingenuous, must be seen as more than just an expression of support and a call for fresh fighters. It is Trump’s declaration of war. It’s a red flag to Americans who value our nation’s principles and want to preserve them. And it’s proof of Trump’s terrorist intentions. He must never be permitted to prevail.

Trump Celebrates Supreme Court Ballot Ruling with Crazy, Unrelated Babbling and Lies

The Supreme finally delivered their ruling on the Colorado state decision to remove Donald Trump from the ballot due to his breach of Section 3 of the Constitution’s 14th Amendment, which holds that “No person shall […] hold any office, civil or military, under the United States [who] shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.”

Donald Trump WTF

The Court’s decision placed the authority for ascertaining whether an insurrectionist can run for, or serve as, president within the jurisdiction of Congress, not the states. That can be debated by people of good faith. But what is indisputable is that Trump did incite an insurrection and continues to give aid and comfort to insurrectionists, including those currently serving prison sentences. The Court could have said otherwise, but did not. Which was wise considering the abundance of testimonial, documentary, and video evidence against Trump. He even admitted it himself…

Following the announcement of the Court’s decision, Trump spoke to the press, presumably to hail what he perceived to be a momentous legal victory. However, given his notoriously short attention span and cognitive deficiencies, his speech quickly meandered off topic. Trump aimlessly diverted into a rendition of his routine cult rally rants, almost completely ignoring the Court’s ruling on ballot access. Reputable media outlets cut away from that thinly veiled campaign speech. In the future they should decline to cover him at all.

Among the topics that topped Trump’s temper tantrum instead were his dishonest representations of immigration, his false claim to have eliminated ISIS, his anxiety about having been ordered to pay a $354 million judgment for financial fraud, and a string of infantile insults aimed at prosecutors, including Fani Willis and Jack Smith. One area that he focused on intensely was his delusional belief that he is entitled to “total immunity” for any crime that he wants to commit. On that subject he said that…

“Presidents have to be given total immunity. They have to be allowed to do their job. If they are not allowed to do their job, it is not what the founders wanted. But perhaps even more importantly, it will be terrible for our country.”

Never mind that our country has survived for a couple of centuries without any of its 46 presidents having that fringe benefit. Nor, with the exception of Trump, needing it, because they weren’t committing crimes with the severity and frequency of Trump. Although he was grateful that he had the ability to make his case, preposterous as it is…

“I’m lucky that I’m able to explain it to the public because if you weren’t able to explain it, the public wouldn’t know. They’d believe what they see.”

Trump thinks that the public is too stupid to understand these matters – that have nothing to do with the ruling he was supposedly responding to – without his explaining it to them. According to him, absent his explanations, they would simply “believe what they see.” And we certainly can’t have that. Particularly when his explanations clear so much up. For instance…

FINALLY: Trump Admits that January 6th Was an Insurrection, But Blames it on Nancy Pelosi

The many trials and tribulations of Donald Trump are continuing to unfold with a near constant narrative by Trump himself. With each new development there is another anxious and incoherent outburst by Trump as he struggles desperately to avoid accountability for his criminal activities.

Donald Trump, Nancy Pelosi

On Thursday the Supreme Court heard arguments pertaining the Colorado case wherein the state’s high court ruled that Trump is ineligible to run for president according to state law and the Constitution’s 14th Amendment. Even though Trump’s arguments countering that ruling, and a similar one in Maine, are laughably weak, the ultra-conservative majority on the Supreme Court are likely to side with Trump.

SEE THIS: Fox News Complains that Maine Disqualifying Trump is Invalid Because – the Constitution is Old?

Trump didn’t bother to attend the hearing, but he was watching from Mar-a-Lago. And as usual, he took the opportunity to exploit the media buzz and deliver a post-hearing message to the press. All of the cable news networks took Trump’s remarks when he began what was supposed to be his reaction to the Supreme Court proceedings. But true to form, Trump was only interested in talking about himself. Rather than address the matter at hand, he just started rattling off the same tedious talking points that he disgorges at his cult rallies.

Since Trump’s yammering was purely self-serving campaign rhetoric that had nothing whatsoever to do with the hearing, CNN and MSNBC made the journalistically responsible decision to cut away. However, his Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News, let him ramble on about imaginary “election interference,” and how he is allegedly “leading in every poll,” and his ludicrous claims that we “wouldn’t have had any of the problems that we have today” (i.e. Ukraine, Gaza, inflation, crime), if he had been reelected.

Among the more preposterous of his post-hearing positions was one that is also a remarkable contradiction of everything he has said previously about the January 6th insurrection that he incited. He has long insisted that it was nothing more than peaceful protest by patriots who were upset that the 2020 election was “rigged and stolen” from him.

Of course the entire world witnessed live the violence of the StormTrumpers as they sought to obstruct Congress from carrying out its constitutional duty to certify the election and President Biden’s victory. Trump not only instigated the violence, he told the rioters that he understood why they were rioting and that he loved them. However, in his post-hearing remarks he finally admitted what everyone else already knew. He confessed that “I think it was an insurrection,” but with the added caveat, “caused by Nancy Pelosi.”

So now Trump is conceding that what occurred on January 6th was, in fact, an insurrection. That’s a stark departure from his prior characterizations of the assault. Although his attempt to blame it on Nancy Pelosi is both dishonest and disgusting. Pelosi was a target of Trump’s MAGA mercenaries who attacked the seat of American democracy at his direction that day. They literally chanted “Where’s Nancy?” as they stampeded through the halls of Congress.

Trump has repeatedly lied that he had offered Pelosi 10,000 National Guard troops to defend the Capitol. He did so just a couple of weeks ago in a speech where he also mistook Nikki Haley for Pelosi. The claim of that offer has been debunked many times. But it is also a peculiar claim since he’s asserting that his own followers are so dangerous that thousands of soldiers were needed to quell them.

At this stage of the game, no rational person expects Trump’s blather to be anything but nonsense and lies. But it is refreshing to hear him occasionally serve up comments that actually incriminate him further as he tries to slither out from under the avalanche of evidence of his treachery. And this admission that January 6th was indeed an insurrection will delight the prosecutors who are still collecting evidence of his crimes.
