Tucker Carlson Spins January 6th Insurrection Videos to Spread Blatant Lies, Trump Praises Him

In February House Squeaker Kevin McCarthy announced that he would give 41,000 hours of raw video of the January 6th insurrection to the malicious liar and shameless sham artist, Tucker Carlson of Fox News. It was a brazen act of partisanship intended to allow Carlson and Fox News to craft a flagrantly false narrative of the treasonous assault on the seat of American democracy.

On Monday night’s episode of his primetime propaganda hour, Carlson didn’t disappoint McCarthy and reality-challenged Republicans when he aired his first program featuring the cherry-picked video clips. Carlson has made it his mission to spread flagrant lies about the January 6th insurrection. He’s celebrated the rioters as “patriots.” He’s maligned the FBI, without evidence, as the perpetrators of the violence. He even produced a lie-riddled crocumentary about the insurrection. And this is the person McCarthy chose to curate the thousands of hours of video to force feed their BS propaganda to the American people?

RELATED: Breaking Down the Crocumentary By Tucker Carlson that Glorifies ‘False Flag’ Insurrection

Given his predisposed positions on the subject, it isn’t surprising that Carlson concluded that the Capitol riots incited by Donald Trump were innocent excursions by peaceful tourists. “They were orderly and meek,” Carlson lied. “These were not insurrectionists. They were sightseers.” But Carlson is not only lying, he’s contradicting himself. He’s illogically asserting that a mob of protesters who “were angry. [because] they believed that the election” was “stolen” were merely sightseeing. They can’t be both sightseers and an angry mob. Yet that’s precisely how Carlson presented them…

“On January 6th two years ago thousands of protesters walked from a Trump rally on the ellipse outside the White House to the U.S. Capitol where the certification of the presidential election was underway. The protesters were angry. they believed that the election they had just voted in had been unfairly conducted. They were right. In retrospect, the 2020 election was a grave betrayal of American democracy given the facts that have since emerged about that election. No honest person can deny it.”

Carlson has the advantage of not having to comply with any standard of honest personage. After all, his own Fox News lawyers defended him (successfully) in a defamation lawsuit by arguing that “no reasonable person” would take him seriously.

For the record, more than 1,000 people have been charged with crimes ranging from trespassing to seditious conspiracy. And nearly 500 of them have pleaded guilty, including the notorious “QAnon Shaman” who Carlson went out of his way to defend. What’s more, many of those who confessed fingered Trump as their leader and inspiration.

In addition to his blatantly dishonest mangling of the facts, Carlson also took the opportunity to assist Dominion Voting Systems in their lawsuit against Fox News by reiterating the lie that the 2020 election was rigged. He refers to “facts that have since emerged about that election,” but, like Trump and everyone else, was unable to cite any of those alleged facts.

Carlson’s characterization of the insurrectionists as “orderly and meek” was proven false by some of the video that he aired. Never mind his absurd assertion that “the video does not support the claim that January 6th was an insurrection. In fact, it demolishes that claim.” In actual fact, the StormTrumpers can be seen breaking into the Capitol and violently assaulting police officers, more than 140 of whom were injured.

Carlson attempts to support his claims by carefully selecting video where there was nothing untoward occurring. But that’s a ridiculous argument. There is plenty of video of President Kennedy riding in a car in Dallas where he is smiling and waving to the crowd. So, by Carlson’s logic, he was never assassinated.

Of course, the expected response by insurrection inciter, Donald Trump, was posted to his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, shortly after Carlson’s program aired. And it was just as psychotic as you might imagine…

“Congratulations to Tucker Carlson on one of the biggest ‘scoops’ as a reporter in U.S. history. The New Surveillance Footage of the January 6th Events sheds an entirely different light on what actually happened. The Unselect Committee was a giant SCAM, and has now unequivocally been stamped as CRIMINAL FABRICATORS OF THIS MOST IMPORTANT DAY. Pelosi & McConnell failed on security. The Police story is sad and difficult to watch. ‘Trump’ and most others are totally innocent, LET THEM GO FREE, NOW!”

Literally everything in that rant was false. It was not a “scoop.” Carlson is not a “reporter.” There was no credible new “light” shed. The House Select Committee that investigated the insurrection was neither a “SCAM,” nor criminally “stamped.” Yet Trump still persists in repeating his intention to free the perpetrators if he – gawd forbid – returns to the White House.

RELATED: Trump Promises to Halt the Prosecutions of the January 6th Mob He Incited to Attack Congress

After slobbering all over Carlson, Trump turned his drool to McCarthy. about whom he said that “Great courage shown […] in releasing the surveillance footage to Tucker Carlson.” He elaborated saying that ” A whole new, and completely opposite, picture has now been indelibly painted.” Which was, of course, the whole purpose of McCarthy’s gift to Carlson. He wanted to give Carlson a head start on creating a fake narrative – and also to restore Trump’s love for him as he embarks on his role as House Speaker.

McCarthy providing these videos to a devoted, Putin-loving, propagandist like Carlson was an act of naked partisanship and, worse, a betrayal of democratic principles. And Carlson’s predictable treatment of the information he received affirms his rank dishonesty, and that of the network that employs him.

UPDATE: Trump had another outburst over Carlson’s garbage report. And he truly went off the rails saying “LET THE JANUARY 6 PRISONERS GO. THEY WERE CONVICTED, OR ARE AWAITING TRIAL, BASED ON A GIANT LIE, A RADICAL LEFT CON JOB. THANK YOU TO TUCKER CARLSON AND SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE KEVIN McCARTHY FOR WHAT YOU BOTH HAVE DONE. NEW VIDEO FOOTAGE IS IRREFUTABLE!!!” Meanwhile Carlson’s Fox News colleagues are completely ignoring his alleged “BOMBSHELL” report.

House Squeaker Kevin McCarthy Hands Over 41,000 Hours of January 6th Video to – Tucker Carlson?

Two years ago on January 6th, a Clown Corps of traitorous StormTrumpers invaded the seat of America’s democracy in a violent and deadly attempt to overthrown a legitimate election and install their Mar-a-Lago Messiah as president-for-life. But despite their pitiful failure they persist in the pursuit of a wingnut theocracy with Donald Trump in their throne.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Q Shaman

In his quest for the the speakership of the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy promised that he would release all of the video available of what he still refuses to admit was an insurrection. And consistent with his string of already broken promises, he has chosen to make those videos available only to Tucker Carlson of Fox news.

On Monday morning Axios reported that…

“House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has given Fox News’ Tucker Carlson exclusive access to 41,000 hours of Capitol surveillance footage from the Jan. 6 riot, McCarthy sources tell me.

“Carlson TV producers were on Capitol Hill last week to begin digging through the trove, which includes multiple camera angles from all over Capitol grounds. Excerpts will begin airing in the coming weeks.”

Seriously? If McCarthy thinks that giving Putin-loving, propagandist Carlson exclusive access to these videos is the same thing as releasing them to the public, he has succumbed to the same mental deterioration as his QAnon Caucus. Carlson will surely slice and dice what he receives in the most grotesquely biased manner. The public will only get to see what Carlson and Fox News serve up on their partisan platter.

Revelations of Fox’s dishonesty were recently disclosed in the defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems. In a motion for a summary judgment, Dominion published internal communications at Fox News showing that the hosts and executives never believed Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was “rigged and stolen” from him, even as they went on air proclaiming it as fact. And now they will want us to believe their misinterpretation of these videos?

RELATED: In Dominion v Fox News, Network Cries ‘We Can’t Make People Think We’ve Turned Against Trump’

As further proof of how ludicrous this is, Marjorie Taylor Greene was thrilled and tweeted that she was “very happy” with McCarthy for releasing the videos to Carlson because “Americans deserve to see the truth, not a one sided narrative and unfair two tiered justice system.”

Really? Even if McCarthy ends up releasing the videos to the public or other media, he has still benefited the Trumpists and insurrectionists by giving Carlson and Fox News a first look and a head start on injecting an entirely false narrative into the media ecosystem.

It would be bad enough if McCarthy merely released these videos to Fox News. But he could not have picked a worse person to dump them on than Tucker Carlson. Apparently McCarthy has forgiven him for calling him “a puppet of the Democratic Party.” Which is just another indication of McCarthy’s wet noodley weakness.

As for Carlson, he has made it his mission to spread flagrant lies about the January 6th insurrection.

Nice work Kevin. You’ve selected someone who was deemed by his own attorneys to be so outrageously dishonest that they argued in court (successfully) that, given his reputation, “no reasonable person” would believe his bullpucky. And there’s more where that came from…

Trump is a Coward and a Liar and He’ll Prove it When He Dodges the Proud Boys Subpoena

It has been more than two years since Donald Trump incited the insurrection in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021, aimed at undermining democracy. Many of the perpetrators have since been indicted and/or convicted for their crimes against America. And many more are awaiting justice, including the leaders of the violent and deadly riots such as Commander Bone Spurs Trump.

Donald Trump, Snowflakes

This week lawyers for the Proud Boys, a wannabe militia of anti-American thugs on trial for seditious conspiracy, declared their intention to issue a subpoena for Trump to testify for the defense. That’s a peculiar legal strategy intended to show that the defendants only committed their crimes at Trump’s direction. Which doesn’t make them innocent, but does make Trump guilty.

Trump hasn’t yet responded to this news, but it’s a near certainty that he will will seek to quash the subpoena and, if unsuccessful, will take plead the Fifth Amendment in order to avoid testifying and incriminating himself. Which is something he’s already done more than 400 times:

RELATED: Snowflake Trump Pleads the Fifth Amendment, So Let’s Break Down His Desperately Deranged Reasons

However, if Trump declines to testify on behalf of the Proud Boys, he will be exposing himself as the coward and liar that he has always been. After all, he has been complaining for months that the January 6th defendants are “patriots” who have been treated terribly by the “Injustice” Department. He has sworn to “get justice for people that are imprisoned right now, and people that are being tormented.” He has even promised to pardon them if he were to be reelected.

RELATED: Trump Promises to Halt the Prosecutions of the January 6th Mob He Incited to Attack Congress

Considering Trump’s allegedly heartfelt support for those poor souls who he believes are being persecuted by the law enforcement agencies that he has likened to the Gestapo, you would think that he would be anxious to testify on their behalf and secure their liberation from the clutches of evil. Why wouldn’t he want to help to exonerate his most loyal cult followers? Doing so would not only demonstrate his commitment to the cause, it would also stimulate the recruitment of more militant insurrectionists.

The answer, of course, is that Trump is a coward who would never stick his neck out for the benefit of anyone else. And admitting that he motivated their mission would surely place him in legal jeopardy. He is also a liar who couldn’t care less about these pawns who he drove to commit crimes and are now suffering for his recklessness and their own gullibility.

Nevertheless, Trump is still prodding his glassy-eyed devotees to commit similar criminal acts for which he will later deny any knowledge or culpability. He recently posted a link on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that explicitly called for violence in pursuit of his totalitarian aspirations. And sadly, there are still numbskulls dumb enough to succumb to his traitorous whims.

Trump Issues New Statement on His January 6th Insurrection Lies that Actually Affirms His Guilt

More than two years have passed since Donald Trump incited a violent and deadly insurrection against the United States. In the time that has elapsed, abundant evidence of Trump’s complicity has been presented by the press, by law enforcement, and by the House Select Committee investing the January 6th riots, most of whose witnesses were Republicans and former Trump staffers.

Donald Trump Circling the Drain

Trump, of course, has spent the past two years whining that he’s innocent and asserting that the whole thing is just another witch hunt and/or hoax. And on Wednesday morning he reanimated his raging with the release of a new ten page statement mostly rehashing the same tired untruths that he’s been peddling all along.

RELATED: Trump Responds to the January 6th Committee Report By Flagrantly Lying About What it Says

This latest chapter in Trump’s traitorous tale of villainy and victimhood wasn’t much more than a warmed over rerun of his prior prattling. However, he did feature a new wrinkle in the fabric of his fantasy fiction referencing the utterly contrived conclusions of Elon Musk’s “Twitter Files” document dumps. Trump began saying that…

“Recently, it was shockingly revealed that Twitter colluded with the FBI and other law enforcement agencies to Rig and Steal the 2020 Presidential Election in favor of Joe Biden, and to deplatform and illegally censor me.”

Contrary to Trump’s hyperbole, there were no revelations, shocking or otherwise, and no evidence of collusion with the FBI to “Rig and Steal the 2020 Presidential Election.” The only thing shocking about any of this is the dishonesty of Trump, Musk, and the hacks who worked for them.

But Trump was just getting started. He continued with his pitiful defense of the charges that he incited the riots in Washington, D.C. on January 6th. He claimed that he was the consummate peacemaker, saying that…

“The two exonerating Tweets, and the Rose Garden Video, which were posted in the early afternoon of January 6, 2021, and attempted to be hidden by the Unselect January 6th Committee, clearly and unquestionably state my desire that all protestors be peaceful and follow the Law.”

That’s a purposefully deceitful summary of the events on January 6th. First of all, he’s leaving out his hostile rhetoric at his speech on the Ellipse, where he told his cult followers that “We fight. We fight like hell. And if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.” As for his Twitter and video responses to the violence, aside from being weak and insincere, they weren’t released until long after the riots began and much damage was already done. According to the timeline

  • 12:53 p.m.: Rioters overwhelm police along the outer perimeter west of the Capitol building, pushing aside temporary fencing.
  • 1:30 p.m.: Capitol Police are overwhelmed and retreat up the steps of the Capitol.
  • 2:38 p.m.: President Trump tweets: Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!
  • 3:13 p.m.: President Trump tweets: I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!
  • 4:17 p.m.: Trump uploads an unscripted video to his Twitter denouncing the riot but maintaining the false claim that the election was stolen: “I know your pain, I know you’re hurt. We had an election that was stolen from us … But you have to go home now. We have to have peace … So go home. We love you. You’re very special.”

So at least two and half hours elapsed before Trump posted his tweets, and another two hours until his video appeal that gushed his love for the rioters. What’s more, Trump’s statement lies that the January 6th Committee suppressed his weak messages of peace, and that “Twitter followed the wishes of Joe Biden and the FBI in censoring me, and cancelling my account.”

Every word of that is false. The tweets may not have been available on Trump’s Twitter page because the account was suspended due its potential to incite further violence. But they were well documented and available elsewhere to anyone who was interested. Also, neither Biden nor the FBI had anything to do with Trump’s Twitter account being suspended. And finally, the January 6th Committee not only did not suppress those tweets, they highlighted them in the hearings.

This is all typical of Trump pathological compulsion to lie. However, his own account of events, when the facts are known, supplies actual evidence of his guilt. And in case anyone thought that the harm Trump is capable of is all in the past, note these recent comments that prove that he remains an imminent threat to the nation:

HUH? Trump Says the January 6th Committee, that Issued Criminal Referrals, Thinks He’s Innocent

The debate over whether Donald Trump is acutely delusional or merely a pathological liar rages on. However, there is no question that he continues to disseminate utter nonsense that bares little to no resemblance to reality.

Donald Trump

In a post on his pitifully floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, Trump engaged in some more of his tedious and petulant whining about the House Select Committee that investigated the January 6th insurrection he incited. Clearly Trump is rattled by the Committee’s findings after a year and half of hearings that uncovered abundant evidence of his guilt.

RELATED: Trump Responds to the January 6th Committee Report By Flagrantly Lying About What it Says

True to form, Trump’s criticism was wholly devoid of factual substance or even a smidgen of the maturity one might expect from a septuagenarian political figure. He seethed that he…

“Was just advised that the Unselect Committee of political Thugs has withdrawn the Subpoena of me concerning the January 6th Protest of the CROOKED 2020 Presidential Election. They probably did so because they knew I did nothing wrong, or they were about to lose in Court. Perhaps the FBI’s involvement in RIGGING the Election played into their decision. In any event, the Subpoena is DEAD!”

Trump is still reverting to elementary school nicknames, calling the Committee “Unselect.” And he is dismissing the grave consequences of the deadly riots by referring to them as a “protest.”

More dementedly, Trump thinks that, because the Committee waived the subpoena for his testimony, they believe that he “did nothing wrong.” This is after they issued four criminal referrals to the Department of Justice for inciting the insurrection, obstruction of justice, conspiracy to defraud the U.S., and conspiracy to make a false statement. The incitement charge alone could result in prohibiting Trump from holding any federal or state office in the future.

Trump is also suffering under the delusion that the Committee dropping the subpoena request indicated that they were afraid that they were about to lose in court. The truth is that the Committee has completed its work. They will be disbanded in few days as the next session of Congress begins. They have already published their final report. Consequently, there is no further need for Trump’s testimony, which if the past is any indication, would have been filled with either lies or pleadings of the Fifth Amendment to avoid incriminating himself.

RELATED: Snowflake Trump Pleads the Fifth Amendment, So Let’s Break Down His Desperately Deranged Reasons

Trump actually knows all of this. The Committee chair, Bennie Thompson, sent a letter to Trump’s attorney spelling out the circumstances of the subpoena withdrawal. He wrote that…

“As you may know, the Select Committee has concluded its hearings, released its final report and will very soon soon reach its end. In light of the imminent end of our investigation, the Select Committee can no longer pursue the specific information covered by the subpoena.

“Therefore, through this letter, I hereby formally withdraw the subpoena issued to former President Trump, and notify you that he is no longer obligated to comply or produce records in response to said subpoena.”

Trump’s attorney, Harmeet Dhillon (who is also running to replace Ronna McDaniel as chair of the Republican National Committee), badly misunderstood the letter, claiming falsely that “the committee waved the white flag & withdrew subpoena.” The Committee had already won. Legally, they had all the evidence needed to prove the charges against Trump. And Trump wasn’t going to provide anything else of value. Plus, the Justice Department, and the Special Counsel, Jack Smith, have greater power to compel testimony and document production.

Nevertheless, Trump lives in his fantasy world, or the world of his dishonest contrivances designed to gaslight his cult followers. And that’s enough for him. Which is convenient because surely no one else believes any of his pathetic bullpucky.

Trump Responds to the January 6th Committee Report By Flagrantly Lying About What it Says

The House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection incited by Donald Trump has released its final report after months of hearings with hundreds of witnesses and millions of documents. It is an exhaustively detailed and well documented examination of the events leading up to the storming of the Capitol by his cult followers, and of the violence that occurred there at his urging.

Trump Lies

Naturally, Trump has issued a response to the report on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. And it will surprise no one to learn that his response reflects his shameless, albeit predictable, distortion of reality.

RELATED: Crybaby Trump Throws a Tantrum in Response to the House Select Committee’s Criminal Referrals

While Trump ignores most of the damning evidence of his blatantly unlawful and grossly unethical conduct, and treasonous dereliction of duty, in the 845 page report, he does fixate on a couple of issues that have been a standard part of his post-insurrection harangues for more than two years. And true to form, he lies brazenly about matters that are easily verified. In his post he wrote that…

“The highly partisan Unselect Committee Report purposely fails to mention the failure of Pelosi to heed my recommendation for troops to be used in D.C., show the ‘Peacefully and Patrioticly’ [sic] words I used, or study the reason for the protest, Election Fraud. WITCH HUNT!”

Let’s just set aside Trump’s infantile nickname for what he calls the “Unselect Committee,” and his tedious rant about non-existent election fraud. His assertion that the Committee “fails to mention the failure of Pelosi to heed my recommendation for troops to be used in D.C.” can easily be refuted just by reading the report. Of course, reading may be too difficult a task for the notoriously illiterate former reality TV game show host. The Committee report actually does address the question of Trump’s alleged recommendation to deploy troops saying that…

“Some have suggested that President Trump gave an order to have 10,000 troops ready for January 6th. The Select Committee found no evidence of this. In fact, President Trump’s Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller directly refuted this when he testified under oath. […] Miller: No. Yeah. That’s correct. There was no direct—there was no order from the President.”

So not only is Trump lying about Speaker Pelosi, he is trying to suppress his own failure to act while the seat of American democracy was under attack. This is just his attempt to shift responsibility for the violence at the Capitol to Pelosi. He expects people to believe, without evidence, that he made a recommendation to deploy troops to defend the Capitol. From his own supporters? Although, there is a scenario under which that might make sense. The Committee report also noted that…

“An email sent by [Trump’s] Chief of Staff [Mark] Meadows on January 5th explicitly noted that the DC Guard would be on hand to ‘protect pro Trump people.'”

In Trump’s mind there was no risk of harm to the Capitol, or to members of Congress, or even to his Vice-President, Mike Pence. He was only concerned about the insurrectionists that he was leading, albeit from behind.

RELATED: Trump Whines that the January 6th Committee Won’t Investigate Pelosi and Imaginary Voter Fraud

Additionally, Trump’s assertion that the Committee report neglected to “show the ‘Peacefully and Patrioticly’ [sic] words I used,” is also demonstrably false. The Committee report says that…

“Trump used the phrase scripted for him by his White House speechwriters, ‘peacefully and patriotically’ once, about 20 minutes into his speech. Then he spent the next 50-or-so minutes amping up his crowd with lies about the election, attacking his own Vice President and Republican Members of Congress, and exhorting the crowd to fight. ‘And we fight. We fight like hell’ the President said to a crowd that had already ‘spent the day chanting, ‘Fight for Trump!'”

Once again, Trump is being deliberately dishonest about the contents of the Committee report. Not only does it mention the words he used, it puts them in the proper context so that their insincerity is apparent.

If Trump were truly interested in peaceful protest, he wouldn’t have used language that incited violence, such as when he said “if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.” And he wouldn’t have waited three hours before putting out a statement asking his insurrectionists to stand down. But even in that statement he praised the rioters and told them that he “loved” them.

RELATED: Trump’s Lame Address to His Terrorist Coup Plotters: “Go Home, We love you.”

This is all standard Trumpian speak that serves only to exalt Trump and advance his lies and his lust for power. His glassy-eyed disciples will devour it whole and unquestioningly. His toadies on Fox News and other wingnut media will spread it without noting the obvious falsehoods. But his days are numbered as the law closes in on him, and as he continues to humiliate himself with pathetic and impotent defenses like those above.

Crybaby Trump Throws a Tantrum in Response to the House Select Committee’s Criminal Referrals

It was a long time coming, but the House Select Committee investigating Donald Trump for inciting an insurrection on January 6, 2021, has finally completed its work. And the first order of business was to issue criminal referrals to the Justice Department for Trump’s well documented crimes.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump

The Committee is recommending that charges be brought against Trump for obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to make a false statement, and incitement, rebellion or insurrection. It’s a historic and unprecedented action taken in response to the historic and unprecedented acts of a rogue president. And Trump predictably lashed out at the Committee (that he was too chicken to testify before) with all the determination of a bratty six year old denied a toy that he wanted. On his pitifully floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, Trump said that…

“The Fake charges made by the highly partisan Unselect Committee of January 6th have already been submitted, prosecuted, and tried in the form of Impeachment Hoax # 2. I WON convincingly. Double Jeopardy anyone!”

There’s a surprisingly large amount of bullshittery in that brief statement. Let’s explore it…

  1. The charges are not “fake.” They are very real and histoically profound.
  2. The Committee was not “highly partisan.” There were two conservative Republicans on the panel.
  3. It was a Select Committee, not as Trump calls it in his infantile manner, the “Unselect Committee.”
  4. The charges have never been “submitted, prosecuted, and tried” before in any court.
  5. Trump survived conviction, but he cannot by any stretch of the imagination honestly say that he “WON convincingly.”
  6. A congressional impeachment is not the same as a court trial and thus there was no “Double Jeopardy.”

Poor Donald Trump is struggling desperately to absolve himself of his obvious guilt with a pathetically ignorant comment that totally avoids facts and rational analysis. He wishes the charges were “fake” so that he could go on pretending that there is no imminent legal peril in his near future. And no matter how much he tries, he can’t shake the fact that the Congress of the United States has found that there is sufficient evidence to prosecute him for multiple crimes.

Consequently, Trump fires up his imagination to create a false recollection of what has taken place since the insurrection that he incited. Contrary to his lies, the House voted to impeach Trump by a 232–197 vote, with all 222 Democrats voting to impeach, joined by ten Republicans. In the Senate Trump survived due to the two-thirds requirement for conviction. The final vote was a majority of 57 guilty to 43 not guilty, including seven Republicans, but short of the two-thirds threshold.

Failing to make a coherent legal case for his innocence, Trump took a detour to rely on the devotion of his cult followers, as if that has any relevance under the law. And he repeated another couple of lies that he has been telling for nearly two years, saying that…

“These folks don’t get it that when they come after me, people who love freedom rally around me. It strengthens me. What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger. Americans know that I pushed for 20,000 troops to prevent violence on Jan 6, and that I went on television and told everyone to go home.”

Not exactly. Setting aside the overt threat in Trump’s comment, the truth is that Americans know that he never pushed for any troops on January 6th to protect the Capitol – from his own supporters. That doesn’t even make sense unless he expected his cult followers to riot. And he didn’t go on TV for almost three hours after the assault was in progress and many people, including law enforcement, were injured. When he did make a statement, he told the rioters that he loved them.

SEE THIS: Trump’s Lame Address to His Terrorist Coup Plotters: “Go Home, We love you.”

Furthermore, Trump is still showing support for the traitors who stormed Congress, promising to halt their prosecutions or pardon them, if he returns to the White House.

Trump posted several other comments on his website that were equally riddled with flagrant falsehoods and devoid of any substance. He raged about “Radical Left Democrats (Communists),” and non-existent election fraud, and “the Massive number of CRIMES committed by JOE & HUNTER BIDEN” that reside only in his twisted mind.

Trump also posted a video clip of Nazis being sentenced from the film “Nuremberg” with Alec Baldwin. But somehow he didn’t get that most Americans will associate Hitler’s henchmen in the clip with him and his cadre of traitors. That’s how oblivious he is to reality in his current state of derangement.

Mealy Mike Pence Tells Fox News that He is Against Indicting Trump – Who Nearly Got Him Hanged

Donald Trump, Mike Pence, Hanging

Along with that report, the Committee is also issuing criminal referrals to the Justice Department for a cadre of Trump cohorts, as well as for Trump himself. The charges include Trump’s role inciting and/or assisting the insurrection, obstruction of official Congressional proceedings, and conspiracy to defraud the United States. In anticipation of the Committee’s conclusions, a frightened Trump has been acting out in his typically infantile, and ultimately impotent, fashion.

On Monday morning Trump’s former vice-president and certified toady, Mike Pence, visited Fox News for another softball interview. In this outing Pence affirmed his allegiance to his former boss whose response to the insurrection contributed to the mob’s hostilities and their fevered chants to “Hang Mike Pence.” As an expression of his gratitude for nearly getting him killed, Pence told Fox News that “Few Americans are paying attention” to this Committee. He then elaborated on his opinion that Trump should be allowed to get away with his treasonous crimes…

“I would hope that [the Justice Department] would not bring charges against the former president. I think the president’s actions and words on January 6 were reckless, but I don’t know that it’s criminal to take bad advice from lawyers and so I hope the Justice Department is careful.”

Actually, Pence, who practiced law before his political career, does know that it absolutely can be criminal to take bad advice from lawyers. If your lawyer advises you to commit a crime – say rob a bank or lie under oath or incite a riot – and you take that advice, you are definitely criminally liable. And so, by the way, is your lawyer.

Even Fox News co-host Dana Perino shot back at Pence’s reference to Trump’s shady lawyers saying that “There might be criminal referrals on that too.” She was referring to reports that criminal referrals are likely to be issued for Trump-associated attorneys John Eastman, Jeff Clark, and Rudy Giuliani. Pence then continued saying that…

“I hope the Justice Department understands the magnitude, the very idea of indicting a former president of the United States. I think that would be terribly divisive in the country at a time when the American people want to see us heal.”

Pence doesn’t have to worry about whether the Justice Department “understands the magnitude” of indicting a former president. It’s obvious that they do. However, he might want to pay more attention to the magnitude of a former president trying to undermine democracy and overthrow the government.

He may also want to consider the necessity of holding such criminals accountable, not just to punish their unlawful acts, but in order to deter others from committing similar acts in the future. Trump is already advocating absolution for his insurrectionist hordes.

What’s more, Pence is misinterpreting – or more likely lying about – the American people’s desire to “heal.” They surely do. But a majority of them favor prosecuting Trump as the path to that healing.

For his part, Trump is behaving precisely as would be expected of a self-serving, narcissistic, wannabe dictator. He posted on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that…

“Republicans and Patriots all over the land must stand strong and united against the Thugs and Scoundrels of the Unselect Committee. It will be a dark period in American history, but with darkness comes light!!!”

The darkest period of modern American history has already passed. It ended when Trump was evicted by the American people from his occupation of the White House. The light emerged with the election of President Biden. But sadly, Trump continues to cast his corpulent shadow over the nation. And the only remedy for that is the for the law to be finally and fully enforced without fear or favor. Whether Pence wants it or not.

Trump Promises to Halt the Prosecutions of the January 6th Mob He Incited to Attack Congress

It’s been just over two weeks since Donald Trump announced his candidacy for the 2024 Republican Party nomination for president of the United States in a profoundly depressing speech that cast America as a nation of “blood-soaked streets” and “cesspool cities.” And with that inspiring imagery Trump’s campaign for the alleged hearts and pseudo-minds of America’s apocalyptics was born.

Donald Trump Insurrection

Moving quickly to shore up his hate-addled base, Trump has already staged a public dining at Mar-a-Lago with Ye (aka Kanye West), a Hitler-loving celebrity, and his comrade, Nick Fuentes, a leading white supremacist and hate monger. Trump followed that up with a commentary criticizing Jack Smith, the Special Counsel probing his instigation of the January 6th insurrection and his hoarding of stolen classified documents at his Palm Beach resort/home.

Trump isn’t wasting any time getting his campaign off the ground. In view of that, he just produced a video that he provided to a fundraising event for the “Patriot Freedom Project,” a group that is supporting the January 6th insurrectionists who were arrested for attempting to overthrow the government. In the video Trump promised to stop the prosecution of the people that he incited to launch a violent coup. Which is more than a little like Al Capone advocating on behalf of the mobsters and hitmen who worked for him.

Trump, however, didn’t say how he would fulfill his promise. Presumably he would either pardon his traitorous criminal allies, or order the Justice Department to quash their efforts to uphold the law. Of course, Trump can’t do any of that if he isn’t president, and his prospects for achieving that goal are rapidly diminishing. Thus, his promises are typical of his routinely impotent bluster. Nevertheless, he told the traitors at the fundraiser that…

“We’re gonna get to the bottom of it. And you know what I’ve said, I take it very seriously. I have never seen anything like it at all levels. It’s the weaponization of the Department of Justice, and we can’t let this happen in our country, because our country is going – not socialist, they’ve skipped over that, they skipped over socialism – our country is going communist.

“This is what happens, and we can’t let it happen. We have to stop it. So I want to thank everybody for working so hard. I know how hard you’re working to get justice for people that are imprisoned right now, and people that are being tormented. We can’t let it happen. We’re going to stop it. And we’re going to win. Thank you all very much.”

Setting aside that fact that Trump clearly has no idea what either socialism or communism are, he is pledging his devotion to the violent, anti-American outlaws who assaulted Congress and sought to hang his own vice-president. He delusionally portrays them as victims who are being unfairly incarcerated and “tormented,” despite the abundant video evidence of their seditious crimes. And everyone knows that Trump is opposed to torture.

These are the sort of cretins that Trump is hoping will form the foundation of his 2024 campaign. He’s commencing his efforts with appeals to the treasonous fringe of the nation who prefer totalitarianism to democracy. And he thinks that will rocket his campaign to victory. Unfortunately for Trump, recent polling – if not common sense – doesn’t validate that stunningly stupid strategy. But, hey – don’t anybody tell him.

Trump Being Too Scared to Testify Under Oath, Files Lawsuit Against the January 6th Committee

For some still unfathomable reason, Donald Trump is viewed by his MAGA cult followers as a strong leader, despite his resume of weakness and cowardice. It’s a pattern of character flaws that is consistent from his youth when he evaded the Vietnam War with a phony diagnosis of bone spurs, to his incessant whining about having lost the 2020 election.

Donald Trump

On Friday Trump exhibited his signature spinelessness once again. He filed a lawsuit in Florida to challenge the subpoena from the House January 6th Committee investigating the insurrection at the Capitol that he incited. The Committee seeks his testimony, as well as relevant documents and communications, that led to the deadly riots and his disgraceful response to them. Trump’s reaction to the subpoena was predictably hostile and devoid of legal basis.

RELATED: Trump’s 14 Page Response to Being Subpoenaed By the January 6th Committee is Laughably Pathetic

The sort of confident, unafraid leader that Trump tries to portray himself as would be anxious to present his case before the American people. But unlike his nemesis, Hillary Clinton, who testified before a Republican congressional committee for eleven hours, answering every question, and not complaining once about being persecuted, or calling her interrogators infantile names, Trump is trying to chicken out by complaining falsely that “the Subpoena is invalid.” As reported by CNN

“Trump is challenging both the legitimacy of the committee – which multiple courts have upheld – and is claiming he should be immune from testimony about the time he was president. […] ‘The Subpoena’s request for testimony and documents from President Trump is an unwarranted intrusion upon the institution of the Presidency because there are other sources of the requested information…’ his attorneys argue in the suit.”

Trump’s primary argument is utterly absurd and has no legal viability. Whether or not there are other sources of information doesn’t excuse him from the obligation to testify. He is the main antagonist in this melodrama and his account of events is unique and significant. And it is hardly an “intrusion upon the institution of the Presidency” to expect the former holder of that office to be transparent and honest with the public. Although any expectation of honesty from Trump would be terminally naïve.

If Trump’s lawsuit ever makes it to court, it is likely to be summarily dismissed. But that won’t result in Trump testifying. He has never had any intention of doing so. And he could engage in stalling tactics until the Committee’s work is complete and a final report is issued. Even if he showed up, he would probably plead the Fifth Amendment, just as he did more than 400 times in the civil suit in New York. Because that’s how courage is expressed in MAGA Land.

For at least two years Trump has whined that he hasn’t been able to tell his side of the story. But when he has an opportunity to do so, he wimps out. So he will only give his account on his floundering Twitter clone, Truth Social, or Trump-fluffing media such as Fox News, Newsmax, and OAN. What’s more, he demands that his former fellow White House occupiers refuse to speak under oath as well. And in the meantime he files a flurry of lawsuits intended to obstruct, delay, and disinform. And it’s that resolve to run away that explains why he’s hailed by his glassy-eyed disciples as a pillar of principle and a bastion of bravery. Isn’t it obvious?
