Tucker Carlson of Fox News: ‘Creepy Old Guy’ Obama Will Force Your Kids to Get Vaccinated

Fox News has been on a campaign to assure that as many Americans as possible get sick and die from COVID-19 for the better part of a year. They have devotedly supported Donald Trump’s aggressively idiotic positions, including the promotion of fake cures like hydroxychloroquine and bleach. They have downplayed the severity of the illness as being comparable to the common flu. (See also RAGE, by Bob Woodward). And, sadly, they have had some success at persuading their pitifully gullible viewers that the pandemic is a hoax.

Obama Fox News

As a result, studies have shown that watching Fox News actually increases coronavirus fatalities. And no one on Fox has contributed more to the deliberate harm than the network’s Senior Pro-COVID Correspondent, Tucker Carlson. Among his recent oral atrocities are conspiratorial assertions that the vaccine “doesn’t work and they’re simply not telling you that.” He also commanded his dimwitted viewers to call the police to report parents who made their children wear face masks as child abusers.

On Monday night Carlson escalated the crazy in a tirade against vaccines and anyone who advocated getting them. What triggered Carlson this time was new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) making everyone 16 years and older eligible for vaccinations. Responsible media and public figures conveyed that message to the nation. And that was something that Carlson just couldn’t tolerate:

“NBC News is now running – you may have seen these PSAs – public service announcements with its on-air talent – demanding that everyone in the country get the shot. Barack Obama just released this creepy little video telling small children to get the shot.

‘Hi everybody. It’s Barack. Now that every American over the age of 16 is eligible to get the vaccine, I want to talk about you getting your. The vaccine is safe, it’s effective, it’s free. I got one. Michelle got one.. People you know got one.. And now you can got one too. It’s the only way we can get back to all the things we love. From safely spending time with grandparents, to going to concerts and watching live sports. So get the vaccine as soon as you can.’

“Some creepy old guy telling your children, your little kids to take medicine whose effects we do not fully understand. Totally normal. Yeah, that happens every day. Don’t ask questions. Just do it. As CNN explained just recently, ‘We’re not getting our freedom back until you do.'”

First of all, nobody is “demanding that everyone in the country get the shot.” That’s Carlson’s patently dishonest way of fostering irrational fears of tyrannical overlords. Certainly Obama didn’t demand anything. He calmly presented his personal advice about a vaccine that is safe, effective, and will save lives.

So naturally Carlson jumped into a vat of angry bombast to malign Obama as a “creepy old guy,” purposely insinuating the mental image of a child molester. And he repeated his scare mongering that a vaccine that more than 100 million Americans have already received is dangerous and untested.

Later in the segment Carlson complained that The View’s Sunny Hostin had made race an issue when she noted correctly that 45% of white evangelicals and nearly 50% of Republicans were resistant to vaccines. Carlson, as Fox’s most prominent white nationalist, routinely makes race an issue no matter what the subject might be (see his advocacy of the white replacement theory).

Whenever Carlson unleashes his bitter, hateful, and ignorant harangues, we must remember that Fox News defended him in a defamation lawsuit by arguing – successfully – that he couldn’t possibly be guilty because “no reasonable person” would take him seriously. The problem is that his viewers are not reasonable and they take his word as gospel. And in matters involving the mitigation of a deadly pandemic, that makes life more perilous for everybody.

For that reason – as well as his rancid racism – Carlson should be banished from TV and public life. Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch are ultimately responsible for perpetuating this horror show. And they must be held accountable if they fail to act.

Dandelion-Gate! Newsmax Wins the ‘Most Asinine Biden Conspiracy Theory’ Award

The dedicated disciples of Donald Trump in the right-wing mediaverse have distinguished themselves many times over for their blind adulation of the twice-impeached, pathological lying, narcissistic, fake billionaire, and former reality TV game show host. It’s a love affair that transcends any coherent explanation other than cult worship.

Joe Biden, Newsmax

The efforts by the conservative press to inflate the Trump mythology is exceeded only by their efforts to demean the real world accomplishments of President Biden. But nothing to date rises to the level of lunacy as a segment that aired on Newsmax this week. Perhaps the ultra-rightist network was trying to deflect from the news that they had just settled a defamation lawsuit and admitted that their coverage of the 2020 presidential election was littered with lies. Or maybe they were trying to find some comfort after having lost half their audience since the fall of Trump.

Whatever the reason, there is really no excuse for what Newsmax host Grant Stinchfield unloaded after seeing Biden stoop to pick a flower for his wife, First Lady Jill Biden. It was a bizarre twist on what most people with actual human emotions would have felt. He said that…

“I want you to take a look at this. Joe Biden getting on Marine One and stops and picks up – I think it’s a dandelion, but the dandelion hasn’t even blossomed into a flower yet. Like it gives everybody asthma. So you blow it, it goes everywhere, and everybody starts sneezing.

“Well, he picks up the weed and gives it to Jill in what I guess is supposed to be some kind of sweet gesture – gives dandelions all over the place, I say it was a planted dandelion there. Who knows.”

Seriously? First of all, Stinchfield might want to brush up on the life cycles of dandelions. They flower first, then go to seed, which results in the floating wisps that every normal child recalls making wishes upon. The fact that he associates them solely with health problems says more about his sad childhood than anything else. And his inability to recognize the romance in the gesture by a husband to his bride of 44 years is a sad commentary on his loveless existence.

However, capping off the inanity of this yackery is Stinchfield’s allegation that the dandelion was “planted.” That’s how deranged these wacked out wingnuts have become. They actually believe there’s a White House advance team setting up staged encounters with common yard flowers to enhance the President’s charm quotient. And his isn’t the first time that right-wing hacks have sought to bash the Bidens’ marriage. In February Tucker Carlson of Fox News mocked the First Couple saying that…

“The Bidens affection is totally real and in no way part of a slick PR campaign devised by cynical consultants determined to hide the president’s senility by misdirection. Their love is as real as climate change.”

The raving right attacks Biden for absurdities because they can’t come up with any substantive criticism. All they are left with is laments about the alleged demise of Dr. Seuss and Mr. Potato Head. They failed miserably to smear his COVID relief and stimulus plan, that even a majority of Republicans supported. The same is true with Biden’s infrastructure/jobs bill and their tone-deaf efforts to make it harder to vote. In fact, they label Biden initiatives “anti-American,” despite having broadly popular support by the American people.

As for Newsmax and Stinchfield, their take on the Biden administration can be safely disregarded. Stinchfield is a committed Trump cultist who this week posted a tweet of the Former Guy repeating his “Big Lie” BS that resulted in the Capitol insurrection. “I wouldn’t be surprised,” Trump babbled, “if they found thousands and thousands and thousands of votes,” in the Arizona scam audit. The glassy-eyed Stinchfield thanked Trump and agreed that “I think they might find a lot!”

Rudy Giuliani Weaves an Absolutely Loony Tale of His Encounter with the FBI

On Wednesday the FBI executed a search warrant at the home and office of Donald Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani. It was, according to Giuliani, a travesty on the part of the Biden Vindictive government,” despite the fact that the investigation was launched by Bill Barr’s Justice Department when Trump was still in the White House.

Rudy Giuliani

On Thursday Giuliani visited Fox News in an attempt to extricate himself from the web of deceit he was trapped in due to his own shady dealings. He was “interviewed” by Tucker Carlson, the host who Fox News successfully argued in court could not be taken seriously. That was his first mistake. During this segment Giuliani recited his version of what took place when the feds came to his door. It’s pretty pathetic script that fails to make any sense or advance his interests. He began by constructing a thoroughly unbelievable exchange involving hard drives that he said belonged to Hunter Biden. Here is how he described the encounter:

Giuliani: ‘Don’t you want these?
FBI: What are they?
Giuliani: Those are Hunter Biden’s hard drives.
FBI: No, no, no, no!’
Giuliani: Are you sure you don’t want them? The warrant required them to take it.
FBI: No, no!
Giuliani: Don’t you think you should take it.
FBI: No!

Think about how preposterously unlikely all of that is. First of all, Giuliani wants us to believe that he was in possession of Hunter Biden’s hard drives and that he did nothing with them for two years, even though he was obsessed with destroying the Bidens. Then the FBI raids his home and he’s suddenly anxious to give them away to agents that he believes are hostile and intent on persecuting him. If there was anything incriminating on those hard drives, wouldn’t Giuliani want to retain possession of them?

Secondly, why would the FBI refuse to take these hard drives? Giuliani is insinuating that the agents are operatives of the “Deep State” who want to cover for the Biden family. So wouldn’t taking the drives serve that purpose? It would remove them from Giuliani’s custody and allow them to “lose” the alleged evidence, if that were actually their goal.

Thirdly, Giuliani’s telling of this encounter suggests that the FBI agents vehemently and repeatedly refused to take the hard drives. Are we supposed to believe that just being near the hard drives made the agents visibly nervous, and that they would expose their anxieties to the subject of their investigation?

Giuliani went on to claim that the agents were “required” to take the alleged hard drives. That’s false. They have discretion to take only what they consider to be relevant to the investigation. Giuliani also wondered why the agents would take his word for what the hard drives contained, saying that “They could have been Donald Trump’s. They could have been Vladimir Putin’s.” What exactly is he implying, and does he really want to go there? By the same token, Giuliani is asking us to take his word that any of this happened at all.

Finally, Giuliani’s claim that the evidence seized would be “exculpatory” isn’t in the remotest sense plausible. If it were true, then why would he be upset about having been served the warrant? He should be pleased that he’s about to be exonerated. Clearly his simmering panic indicates that he knows he is in legal peril.

Giuliani’s appearance on Fox News demonstrates precisely why credible lawyers don’t want their clients talking on television. Even when they they think they are among friends. In fact, being with Tucker Carlson makes it more likely that Giuliani would feel at ease and, thus, susceptible to letting something slip that is incriminating.

As a lawyer, you might think that Giuliani would know this. But as an idiot who has lost some sixty cases related to election fraud on Trump’s behalf, he has proven that he doesn’t have a clue. And he’s still Trump’s lawyer, which should make all the prosecutors investigating him very happy.

Tucker Carlson Orders Viewers to Harass Mask Wearers and File False Police Reports

Throughout his tenure on Fox News, Tucker Carlson has distinguished himself as the network’s preeminent white nationalist and most prolific disseminator of ultra-rightist propaganda. He recently devoted episodes of his program to ranting incoherently that coronavirus vaccines don’t work, he advanced the Nazi-inspired “white replacement theory,” and he expressed his support for Trump’s Capitol insurrectionists, insisting they were just peaceful protesters.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Coronavirus

Not content to rest on his loathsome laurels, Carlson is now advising his dimwitted viewers to take hostile actions against anyone they see on the street wearing a mask in order to prevent exposure to COVID-19. His primetime tirade was tantamount to a directive to harass innocent citizens who are behaving responsibly and voluntarily in the exercise of their rights to stay alive and protect others. Carlson’s harangue began with this utterly false assertion (video below if you can stomach it):

“Masks are purely a sign of political obedience. Like Kim Il Sung pins in Pyongyang. We wear them because we have to. The only people who wear masks voluntarily outside are zealots and neurotics.”

Actually, people who wear masks are following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and virtually every public health expert in the country. [Note: New CDC guidance has relaxed mask wearing outside, but only for those who are fully vaccinated]. No one is forced to wear masks outside. But Carlson wants to force everyone to obey his warped perspective of life during a deadly pandemic. He is the wannabe totalitarian demanding obedience. He continued…

“They are the aggressors. It’s our job to brush them back and restore the society we were born in. So the next time you see somebody in a mask, on the sidewalk on a bike path, do not hesitate. Ask politely but firmly, ‘Would you please take off your mask? Science shows there is no reason for you to be wearing it. Your mask is making me uncomfortable.’ We should do that, and we should keep doing it until wearing a mask outside is roughly as socially accepted as lighting a Marlboro inside an elevator. It’s repulsive.”

Carlson’s command to his minions is, to say the least, bizarre. How does someone wearing a mask make someone else uncomfortable? Obviously it doesn’t. It’s just Carlson’s way of justifying his demands for compliance with his directives. And anyone confronted by one of Carlson’s criers should let them know precisely where they can get off. But Carlson still wasn’t finished. In fact, he was getting worse…

“As for forcing children to wear masks outside, that should be illegal. Your response when you see children wearing masks as they play should be no different from your response to seeing someone beat a kid in Walmart. Call the police immediately. Contact Child Protective Services. Keep calling until someone arrives. What you’re looking at is abuse. It’s child abuse and you are morally obligated to attempt to prevent it.”

Seriously? Carlson is equating the wearing of a soft cloth face covering with physical assault. And he’s intruding on the lawful and responsible parenting duties of strangers. But his advice is not only offensive, it’s illegal. He is instructing his viewers to commit felonies. It is against the law to file a false police report. And that’s the only way to describe what Carlson is suggesting. No law enforcement officer, or district attorney, would regard a child wearing a mask as the victim of abuse.

This is a not a matter of free speech. Just as yelling “fire” in a crowded theater where there is no fire is not constitutionally protected, neither is provoking hostilities and suborning unlawful acts. Carlson’s rhetoric in this diatribe is unambiguously dangerous both to people who want to avoid virus transmission, and to parents and children who are victimized by Carlson’s cult followers.

Fox News has successfully argued in court that no reasonable viewer would take Carlson seriously. The problem, though, is that Carlson’s viewers are not reasonable. This latest outburst has the clear potential to incite violence. And if it does, Carlson – and Fox News – must be held accountable.

Fox News Photo Provides Graphic Evidence of Their Racism and Fear Mongering

The reputation for rampant racism at Fox News has been well established over many years. Their top program hosts routinely disseminate the positions of notorious hate groups (see Fox’s Senior White Nationalist, Tucker Carlson), who reciprocate by expressing their admiration and support for those hosts.

Fox News, LeBron James, Maxine Waters

On Thursday morning Fox News provided additional evidence of their embrace of overt bigotry. On an article posted on their website, Fox attacked NBA all-star Lebron James for a tweet that they said was “inciting violence” against the Ohio police officer who shot and killed a 16 year old girl. The now-deleted tweet was posted shortly after a jury convicted Derek Chauvin, the Minnesota officer who murdered George Floyd (which Fox News twisted to accuse Democrats of advocating riots) The tweet said simply “Accountability. You’re next.”

Clearly James was referencing legal accountability for what appeared at the time to be another police shooting of a Black “suspect” when other less deadly options were available. The question as to whether or not this was an unjustified overreaction by this officer has been raised since video of the event was released. And James deleted his tweet to lower the heat generated by this controversial subject.

However, the question of Fox’s racism is unarguable. The photo (above) that accompanied the article was blatantly contrived to induce fear and to prejudice the viewer against “mad” Black persons in public life. Next to James, Fox News placed Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters, a favorite target of Fox. Waters was similarly accused of inciting violence when she advocated that protesters be “confrontational,” which is actually what protests are about.

Neither James nor Waters ever incited violence (unlike Donald Trump and his Fox News shills). But both James and Waters were depicted by Fox News as ominous villains in order to frighten Fox’s audience that is already riddled with racial anxieties and prejudice. Fox News ran numerous segments on these subjects that they repeatedly – and falsely – described as “putting a target” on the backs of police. Which is an awkward turn of phrase considering the literal targets that police put on the backs of Black Americans.

Now Fox News is doing the same thing. Fox’s deliberate distortion of the comments by James and Waters, along with the photo intended to invoke fear, are proof positive of the right-wing network’s intent to spread racist memes to their millions of viewers. It is a despicable abuse of not-very-subliminal messaging to elicit hate. And it’s what Fox News has been doing since its inception.

RAGING BULLSH!T: Tucker Carlson Hosts Candace Owens’s Rancid Post-Verdict Rant on Fox News

On Tuesday night Fox News presented another episode of Tucker Carlson’s White Power Hour. The program featured Carlson’s regularly scheduled incendiary and racist hostility, along with guest Candace Owens, who joined him to deliver a nauseating harangue on the guilty verdicts for George Floyd’s killer, Derek Chauvin.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Klan

Throughout the interview Tucker nodded approvingly (though still maintaining his resting confused a-hole face). And through much of the segment he played stock footage of burning buildings from Black Lives Matter protests last summer. Why? Because Fox News wants their audience to think that there were civil disturbances happening currently in response to the verdicts. It’s their way of inciting fear among their dimwitted and hateful viewers.

Carlson began his interview by belittling the verdicts that he claimed were the result of viewing “a murder case through the lens of politics.” “When you you get to that point,” Carlson warned, “haven’t you already given up civilization?” That’s a good question considering that it is Carlson who is forcing the case to be viewed through a political lens. And his idea of abandoning civilization is when his white supremacist authoritarianism is threatened. It’s not the first time that Carlson has equated the loss of white power to the end of civilization.

For her part, Owens contributed another of her aberrant, self-hating racial rants. It was a long, painful soliloquy of deranged hate mongering that utterly dismissed the verdicts and the entire trial that the whole country watched (except for Fox News viewers because they chose not to air most it). Owens started off with a bizarre allegation of “mob justice” which she is falsely attributing to the media, to citizens exercising their First Amendment rights, and even to the jury itself (video below).

“What we’re really seeing is mob justice. And that’s really what happened with this entire trial. It’s not a trial about George Floyd or Derek Chauvin. This was a trial about whether the media was powerful enough to create a simulation, decide upon a narrative absent any facts. Whether it was powerful enough to repeat showing and talking about a nine minute clip that came from somebody’s cell phone without adding any context. Without showing the full police video, which they refused to release.”

Owens is lying about the video not being shown in context with other video. There were numerous videos from multiple perspectives, including the body-cams worn by the police. She’s also dismissing the testimony of the eyewitnesses and the medical experts. She’s even dismissing the testimony of the police officers, including the Chief of Police, Chauvin’s boss. But she wasn’t through. She still had to malign Floyd personally and assassinate Floyd’s character:

“Let’s not forget this Tucker, the media came out and told us that this was a man who was just getting his life together. He was a good member of society and he got mixed up because a racist white police officer had it out for him and killed him. All of that fell apart. All of the facts came out and all of that fell apart. We now know, of course, that he had enough fentanyl in him – it was three times the lethal dosage. Three times the lethal dosage in him when he died.”

Now Owens is lying about the fentanyl. A toxicologist at the trial testified that the fentanyl in Floyd’s system was not enough to be fatal. He told the court that “Mr. Floyd died from a low level of oxygen, and this caused damage to his brain.” But Owens still wasn’t through. She went on to make some ludicrous charges about the motives of the media and Democrats:

“It now means the Democrats can get whatever they want because they can create a narrative and they can treat people like pawns and get people to basically say ‘If we don’t get what we want we will riot, we will loot, we will send people out like soldiers to destroy your neighborhood.’ And that has been exactly what has happened. That has been the determination of this trial. The media and the Democrats now have enough power to bully, to bully and to lie to, and to create propaganda and successfully win. And that’s what happened and they are celebrating that win today. This not a fair trial. No person can say this was a fair trial.”

It is peak audacity for Owens to blame Democrats for inciting riots (which they never did) after she defended the Trump Insurrectionists that attacked the Capitol on January 6th. They literally sent “soldiers” (armed Oath Keepers and Proud Boys) to assault and even murder members of Congress as they endeavored to carry out their constitutional duties.

Owens closes by falsely claiming that Democrats are “celebrating” the Chauvin verdicts. Virtually every prominent Democrat who has commented publicly has said that this is not a celebratory moment. It is a solemn occasion that must remain focused on the lives lost. And it is just the beginning of a struggle for equity and justice. And for Owens to baselessly charge that the trial wasn’t fair is – like Trump’s “Big Lie” about election fraud – a purposeful call to arms for more of the violence that produced the deadly Capitol riots.

Fox News Hacks Tucker Carlson and Jeanine Pirro Really Don’t Get the Supreme Court

President Biden’s quiet competence and managerial success is befuddling his critics among the press and partisan Republican politicians. Consequently, they continue to have so little to do that they are making up pseudo-controversies to pass the time. It’s really pretty pathetic.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Jeanine Pirro

Their desperation has lead to tawdry displays of hostility related to relative trivialities. If they aren’t “canceling” their former Big Business allies, they are whining that Biden is neglecting such vital presidential duties as tweeting and yakking with cable news bootlickers.

Speaking of cable news bootlickers, the variety that has been polishing Donald Trump’s Tecovas, Fox News, is presently aghast at the thought of Democrats exploring the possibility of expanding the Supreme Court. A bill just introduced in the House suggests an increase from nine to thirteen justices.

There are plenty of rational arguments pro and con for this initiative but, somehow, the blowhards on Fox News evaded anything remotely resembling rationality. Tucker Carlson invited his Fox colleague “Judge” Jeanine Pirro on his program to mangle the issue beyond recognition (video below). The segment established with certainty that neither have any idea what the Supreme Court is. Pirro began by ranting that…

“This will change the United States dramatically. The left will have the ability to have in court – which is essentially nothing more than a legislative leaning body – that will approve of all of the issues that they are trying to make across the board in the United States. We will no longer have a Supreme Court that is based on the number of justices depending on who the president is. And it will all be leaning toward the person who is in office and who has the power. This is madness! It’s madness! As if the country isn’t lost enough.”

It truly is madness that Pirro thinks the Supreme Court isn’t already – and always has been – an institution significantly influenced by politics. That’s by design. The Constitution gave the power to nominate justices to the president and the responsibility of confirmation to the Senate. Both of which are political entities. However, she goes way too far to insist that the Court is just a legislative body. It absolutely is not. It has no power to draft legislation. It’s role is to ascertain whether laws, or specific applications of them, are consistent with congressional intent and the Constitution.

Pirro further misses the mark by claiming that an expanded Court unfairly serves one side of the political divide. In fact, it would be less likely to because there would be more diversity of opinion. Although the Court would still, contrary to Pirro’s musings, be made up of justices appointed by whoever is president. Where on Earth does she get the notion that that would change?

For his part, Carlson agrees with Pirro’s badly warped misinterpretations. He accuses Democratic proponents of expansion of saying “No more pretense. It’s purely a political body that rubber stamps our agenda.” And that’s different than the current Court, how? He claimed that an expanded Court would no longer be impartial, or be viewed that way. By whom? If he isn’t aware that the current justices aren’t already viewed as beholden to the political ideologies of the presidents who appointed them, he must be near comatose. Which leads to Pirro’s elaboration on her prior comments saying that “the people who are in power…”

“…are determined to make sure that their agenda is passed because you’ve got the president, and you’ve got the Congress, and now you’ve got the Supreme Court. […] We will lose our respect for that court as nothing more than a political legislative body. An imprimatur, if you will, for the Democrats.”

Really? And what does she think the present Court is “an imprimatur” for? She must know that Justice Gorsuch was only confirmed because Republicans in the Senate refused to consider an Obama nominee (Merrick Garland) for a year in order to give that nomination to the next president who they hoped would be a Republican (It was worse. It was Donald Trump). She must also know that Justice Kavanaugh was rammed through the Senate despite credible allegations that he was a boozing, sexual predator. She must also know that Justice Barrett was confirmed even though the opening she filled became available shortly before an election, which was the reason Republicans gave for not confirming Garland. Does she think that the present Court is well respected by most Americans? Carlson doesn’t think so. He closed the segment by lamenting that Democrats…

“…don’t care what you think. Which is not the way we think of democracy. In a democracy our leaders care what we think, by definition.”

If acting in a manner consistent with what the people want is how you show that you care what people think, then Carlson should be supporting the broadly popular President Biden. He should have supported the COVID relief and stimulus bill. He should be supporting the jobs and infrastructure bill. And he shouldn’t be feigning outrage over a proposal to expand the Court simply because Democrats – who the people elected – would have the first shot at nominating the new justices.

It is Carlson and Pirro who are the ones abandoning any pretense of impartiality in favor of being purely political. And they are doing it in such a way as to demonstrate their ignorance of democracy and the role of the Supreme Court. But would you expect any less of them, or of anyone else at Fox News?

Has Fox News Blacklisted the Sex Scandal Plagued Trump Toady Matt Gaetz?

The political prejudices of Fox News are getting tested by current events that put the right-wing “news” network in a decidedly uncomfortable position. It was revealed last month that Republican representative Matt Gaetz (Q-FL) is under investigation by the Department of Justice for serious felonies including sex trafficking of a minor, prostitution, drug use, and financial corruption.

Fox News, Matt Gaetz

As a result of these charges, Fox News has had to adapt their ordinarily knee-jerk, pro-GOP editorial mission to keep from awkwardly aligning itself with the perversion and criminality for which Gaetz is accused. Never mind that Fox News didn’t have any trouble aligning itself with such criminality when it was committed by the serial sexual predator, Donald Trump. Gaetz isn’t Trump and doesn’t get the same measure of absolution from the Trump Ministry of Propaganda.

On March 30, 2021, Gaetz was interviewed on Fox News by Tucker Carlson. The entire segment was provided as an opportunity for Gaetz to defend himself from the allegations against him. Fox’s participation in this self-serving dialogue is hardly unexpected considering the network’s affinity for Gaetz as one of Trump’s most zealous supporters among Republicans in Congress. But even at the conclusion of that interview, Carlson exclaimed that it was “one of the weirdest interviews I’ve ever conducted.” And it would be hard to disagree.

However, that interview with Carlson was also the last time that Gaetz has appeared on Fox News, or even been the subject of any sympathetic stories. That was three weeks ago. This is the network that has shamelessly defended Derek Chauvin, Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, Capitol insurrectionists, the Confederate flag, QAnon, Alex Jones, and Vladimir Putin, to name a few. But they now appear to be reluctant to defend Gaetz. That says something about the depth of the muck that Gaetz is wallowing in.

Gaetz’s GOP colleagues in Congress are equally afraid to be associated with him. Only a couple of his closest friends in the House – Jim Jordan and Marjorie Taylor Greene – have bothered to stick up for him. Even Trump offered tepid support. It remains to be seen if the Fox News blackout will continue for any length of time. But the fact that they have snubbed him in this, his hour of need, is a significant rejection that has to hurt. Especially when everyone else that would be considered an ally has been running for the hills.

Tucker Carlson of Fox News Says ‘Vaccines Don’t Work and They’re Not Telling You’

For more than a year now, Fox News has been working diligently to exacerbate the deadly consequences of COVID pandemic. Along with Donald Trump, they have downplayed the severity of the crisis and maligned the experts who sought to protect the public’s health. In fact, studies have proven that watching Fox News actually increases coronavirus fatalities.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Coronavirus

No one at Fox News has been more guilty of these disinformation crimes than Tucker Carlson. He has promulgated lies and promoted medically preposterous conjecture. He has disparaged knowledgeable professionals like Dr. Fauci. He has denied the value of vaccines even while his boss, Rupert Murdoch was butting in front of the line to get his.

On Tuesday night Carlson took another leap down the rabid hole. In a monologue that will surely result in higher mortality rates, Carlson demonstrated how pitifully ignorant he is and unable to grasp simple medical concepts (video below). He ranted that federal health authorities…

“…recommend you continue to wear your masks when you go outside. How long will this continue? Well, according to the Yahoo news, experts say it is ‘not entirely clear when it will be considered okay for people who are fully vaccinated to stop wearing masks.’

“At some point – no one is asking this but everyone should be – what is this about? If vaccines work, why are vaccinated people still banned from living normal lives? Honestly, what’s the answer to that. It doesn’t make any sense at all. If the vaccine is effective, there’s no reason for people who’ve received a vaccine to wear masks or avoid physical contact.”

Honestly, what doesn’t make any sense at all is Carlson’s arrogance in believing that his conclusions about public health have greater validity than doctors who have spent their lives studying it. The guidance for safe behavior is fluid due to evolving science and study. Public health professionals are right to always provide the most cautious appraisals so as not to incur unnecessary harm.

Remaining masked after being vaccinated is simply the best advice to protect oneself and others. It doesn’t mean that the vaccines don’t work. Carlson is too stupid to grasp that. so he continued to sum up saying that…

“So maybe it doesn’t work and they’re simply not telling you that. Well, you’d hate to think that especially if you’ve gotten two shots. But what’s the other potential explanation? We can’t think of one.”

The fact that Carlson can’t think of another explanation just proves how intellectually vacant he is. And he’s apparently not embarrassed to admit it. But even worse is his promulgation of the conspiracy theory that the ever-present “they” know that the vaccine is a hoax and are deliberately keeping it a secret. Seriously? That’s what Carlson and Fox News want to foist on a nation that has already suffered the loss of more than half a million people?

The damage that Fox News is doing is hitting their own viewers hardest. Their audience is made up predominantly of elderly white men, a group that is more vulnerable to severe consequences should they contract the coronavirus. A new Monmouth poll finds that “21% of Americans claim they will never get the vaccine if they can avoid it […] 43% of Republicans versus just 5% of Democrats saying this.” You can safely assume that most of those vax-deniers are Fox News viewers.

Meanwhile, at CNN, Dr. Fauci was asked to respond to Carlson’s nonsense. He said that…

“Yeah, that’s just a typical crazy conspiracy theory. […] I don’t have any idea what he’s talking about. […] It’s certainly not helpful to the public health of this nation, or even globally. You know, I don’t want to get into arguments about Tucker Carlson, but to me it’s just — you know, it’s counter to what we’re trying to accomplish to protect the safety and the health of the American public.”

This might be a good to remind everyone that Fox News defended Tucker Carlson from a defamation lawsuit by arguing – successfully! – that “given Mr. Carlson’s reputation, any reasonable viewer ‘arrive[s] with an appropriate amount of skepticism’ about the statements he makes.” In other words, Carlson is a known liar whose commentaries can be dismissed out of hand as the ravings of an unhinged crackpot. He is also guilty – along with Fox News – of negligent homicide and mass murder. Hopefully they will eventually be held to account.

Tucker Carlson of Fox News Fears Democrats are ‘Importing New Voters’ to ‘Replace’ Him

The flaming racism on Fox News continues to be the core of its editorial policy. It’s a theme that is repeated on multiple programs, especially during primetime with their openly bigoted hosts, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and Fox’s Senior White Nationalist, Tucker Carlson.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Klan

On Thursday night Carlson made some of the most overtly racist comments he’s ever lowered himself to utter. Which is saying something, considering the hundreds of examples that have been documented. His remarks amounted to a full-throated endorsement of the repugnant “White Replacement Theory” that is a foundational principle of the world’s worst hate-mongers. It was the stated motivation behind numerous mass shootings including those at a mall El Paso, Texas, a Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and mosques in Christchurch, NZ. Those mass murderers explicitly referenced it in their manifestos. And let’s not forget Trump’s “very fine people” in Charlottesville, Virginia who marched through the streets chanting Jews will not replace us.” Now Carlson is doing the same.

Carlson felt so strongly about promulgating this rancid rhetoric that he appeared as a guest on another program, Fox News Primetime, hosted this week by Mark Steyn. While there he delivered an explicit sermon on white replacement saying that…

“[T]he government shows preference to people who have shown absolute contempt for our customs, our laws, our system itself and they are being treated better than American citizens.”

Carlson is trying to incite the anger of his racist viewers by lying about “contemptable” immigrants receiving benefits that aren’t available to the oppressed white citizens. He continues saying that…

“Now, I know that the left and all the little gatekeepers on Twitter become literally hysterical if you use the term “replacement,” if you suggest that the Democratic Party is trying to replace the current electorate, the voters now casting ballots, with new people, more obedient voters from the Third World. But they become hysterical because that’s what’s happening actually.”

Apparently Carlson knows that the white replacement theory rhetoric is offensive, but chooses to articulate it anyway. That’s how committed he is to it. And he’s working hard to frighten his dimwitted audience. He continues saying that…

“If you change the population, you dilute the political power of the people who live there. So every time they import a new voter, I become disenfranchised as a current voter.”

Here Carlson is peddling the nauseating notion of voters being “imported” to “dilute the political power” of his white brethren. He continues saying that…

“This is a voting right question. I have less political power because they are importing a brand new electorate. Why should I sit back and take that?”

Carlson couldn’t care less about voting rights. His problem with what he calls a “brand new electorate” is that they are dark-skinned people from third-world countries. Never mind that they can’t vote, and that the process for becoming citizens, even for legal immigrants, can take more than ten years. But Fox News wants to make people believe that Democrats are recruiting illegal immigrant, drug-dealing, sex trafficking, MS-13 gang members, to come to the U.S. and be rewarded with voting privileges upon arrival.

This sick deception is exacerbated by Carlson’s opposition to “those people” voting here in the U.S., even if they are natural born citizens. There is a brand new electorate with every new generation. That’s why he supports the voter suppression bills being advanced in states like Georgia and Texas, where the LatinX population is growing faster than that of whites. Those bills are squarely aimed at people of color and, by golly, Carlson isn’t gonna sit back and take it.

This isn’t the first time Carlson has gone down the white replacement road. Just last month he ranted about Democrats allegedly “packing the electorate” with immigrants. He called it an issue that “we know for certain will change the country forever.” He frequently maligns people of color as “dirty,” and diversity as a threat to “traditional” America. And he’s doing it all with the knowledge and approval of his bosses at Fox News. And America should not sit back and take it.

UPDATE: The Anti-Defamation League has sent a letter to the Fox News CEO, Suzanne Scott, demanding that Carlson be fired. “Given his long record of race-baiting,” the letter says, “we believe it is time for Carlson to go.” It elaborates that…

“Last night, in a segment on his program dealing with voting rights and allegations of voter disenfranchisement, Tucker Carlson disgustingly gave an impassioned defense of the white supremacist “great replacement theory,” […] this is not legitimate political discourse. It is dangerous race-baiting, extreme rhetoric. And yet, unfortunately, it is the culmination of a pattern of increasingly divisive rhetoric used by Carlson over the past few years.

Despite the fact that Carlson has already lost most of his national advertisers (MyPillow is currently his top account), Fox will still probably be too scared of their white supremacist viewers to cancel Carlson. Meanwhile, The Daily Show put together a supercut of how Carlson “plagiarized” white nationalist mass shooters.
