Trump Toady Lies that Fox News ‘Destroyed CNN and MSNBC’ By Not Airing the January 6th Hearings

The brazenness with which Republicans lie is often an astonishing display of depraved dishonesty. There appears to be no bar too low for them to slither under when it comes to misrepresenting reality. As George Orwell wrote in “1984”: “War is peace, freedom is slavery, and ignorance is strength.” The Cult of Trump could now add to that “Fox is news” and “Trump won!”

Not that any more evidence is necessary to prove the point, but Trump toady, and CEO of Trump’s failing Twitter clone TRUTH Social, Devin Nunes, visited with Howard Kurtz, host of Fox News’ Media Buzz. During a segment about the decision by Fox News not air the House Select Committee hearings on the January 6th insurrection, Nunes unloaded a spectacularly false assertion about the television ratings for the telecast in the following exchange:

Kurtz: Let’s talk about the January 6th hearing Thursday night, primetime. You say it was totally partisan, and you could certainly make that case given that every member is anti-Trump. But let’s go beyond that. Does that mean the media shouldn’t cover it much? Does it mean they should dismiss videotaped depositions from the likes of Bill Barr, Jason Miller, Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump?
Nunes: The way that I view it, Howie, is I think we have numbers now that are in, and you covered this. To put this in primetime, the numbers were way down. So I don’t understand how these big corporations – I know it was spread across some 20 different networks – when you compare Fox News which did not air that live, I mean just destroyed CNN and MSNBC in the ratings, right?
Kurtz: Networks like MSNBC did very well covering this hearing, Obviously, it would appeal to the liberal viewers of that network.

First of all, it’s important to note that Kurtz’s question improperly argued that the Committee is partisan because “every member is anti-Trump.” In fact, the Committee is bipartisan, by definition, because it includes members of both parties. There just happens to be bipartisan agreement that Trump is a liar who incited the storming of the Capitol.

More to the point, the claim by Nunes that Fox News “just destroyed CNN and MSNBC in the ratings” is flagrantly false. MSNBC far exceeded their usual audience, averaging 4.1 million viewers during the hearings. Fox News came in second with only 3 million, which is what they get on any ordinary night. So the same cult viewers tuned in to Fox just as they have been programmed to do.

What’s more, Nunes says that the numbers were “way down” for the hearings. Actually, they were far higher than anything these news networks have achieved in many years. More than 20 million people watched live, and even more millions watched via streaming, or delayed on DVRs or recasts. It was nearly twice the audience of game three of the NBA Finals.

For his part, Kurtz meekly replied that “MSNBC did very well,” dismissing the fact that they won their time period and beat Fox News. He also belittled the ratings win as the result of MSNBC’s “appeal to the liberal viewers,” ignoring the rest of the TV audience across many networks. And furthermore, Kurtz has no idea what the ideological make up of the audience was. Many conservatives and other non-liberals likely tuned in specifically because Fox wasn’t airing it.

Finally, in addition to lying through his teeth, Nunes didn’t even come close to answering Kurtz’s question, which was whether or not the media should cover the hearings. Obviously Fox News doesn’t want to cover them because, in addition to revealing that they have been lying about Trump and the insurrection for the past year and half, their audience would also see that their biggest stars were accomplices to Trump’s crimes.

You have to wonder why Nunes was interviewed on this program in the first place. He is not a member of Congress. He runs a Trump business enterprise/scam. And on that website people who posted the truth about the January 6th insurrection were banned. Kurtz never bothered to ask Nunes about that.

Trump also weighed in on the ratings for the hearings and, true to form, he attempted to gaslight his dimwitted cult disciples by claiming that the ratings were “really BAD…far lower than anticipated.” Which, as someone who worked on TV for fourteen years, he knows isn’t true, or he’s even more stupid than we thought. He also called the hearings a “Witch Hunt” because – well, everything he doesn’t like either a witch hunt or a hoax, isn’t it?

Trump Rants Hysterically as His PRAVDA Social Bans Users Who Post the Truth About January 6th

It was just a matter of time before the truth came out about TRUTH Social, the Twitter clone that Donald Trump launched in order to assuage his massive, yet fragile, ego after being exiled from Twitter. The site was disingenuously flaunted as a would-be bastion of free speech where anything goes including, apparently, blatant lies and undisguised racism.

Well, it didn’t take long for those deliberate misrepresentations to be revealed as nothing but empty hype and exploitation. With the commencement of the House Select Committee’s hearings on the January 6th insurrection that Trump incited (and is now typically calling a hoax), Trump has gone totally off the rails as his fear of finally being held accountable for his crimes kicks in. Despite the fact that Fox ‘News’ refused to cover the hearings live, Trump knows that the American people are watching the drama that’s unfolding and that his treachery will be the key plot point.

The first order of business was to excise any truthful discussion of the hearings from his TRUTH(less) (anti)Social scam site. Variety is reporting that…

“The irony is rich: Truth Social, Donald Trump’s Twitter copycat claiming it is ‘free from political discrimination,’ has reportedly banned users who posted information from Thursday’s congressional hearing on the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol — in which the former president is a key player.”

Surprised? You shouldn’t be. The site was never intended to be a free speech platform. It’s terms of service state that users cannot “disparage, tarnish, or otherwise harm, in our opinion, us or the Site.” So in order to use the site you must first agree to never criticize Trump. Unflinching fealty to Dear Leader Trump is demanded, and any disobedience will be punished. And offenders are already facing the consequences of infidelity.

What’s more, Trump himself divulged the actual purpose of the site when he declared that he would never return to Twitter, even if Elon Musk’s sketchy bid to acquire it is successful and his suspension is revoked. “TRUTH is a platform for my voice,” Trump told Fox News, adding that “TRUTH Social will be a voice for me.” So like everything else in his world, it’s all about Trump.

In an effort to deflect from the facts being exposed in the hearings, Trump is lashing out wildly with ever more deranged allegations of the 2020 presidential election being “rigged” and “stolen” from him. He’s posted a flurry of fantastical fiction that he calls a “massive amount of irrefutable evidence” of election fraud. Never mind that it’s been repeatedly refuted by more than sixty court cases and many high level officials from his own administration.

Meanwhile, Trump’s Twitter ban defying spokes-shill dropped 35 tweets in less than hour, after promising to abandon Twitter for Trump’s site. Most of her tweets were retweets of her own election lies dating back as much as year. This is just another part of Trump’s futile effort to shift attention away from his treasonous guilt. But the only thing that it accomplishes is to make him look more guilty and more pathetically desperate.

January 6th Hearing Ratings are Burning Up Trump and His Right-Wing Media Liars

On Thursday evening the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection incited by Donald Trump held its first public hearing in primetime. The opening session disclosed never before seen video of the Capitol Hill riots, as well as testimony from a police officer who was injured and a documentary film make who was embedded with the seditionist StormTrumpers, the Proud Boys.

Most of this debut outing was spent providing an outline of the crimes committed by insurrectionists and Trump’s role in undermining democracy and orchestrating an attempted coup. It was a compelling presentation that included numerous revelations of Trump’s criminal complicity, stomach-churning clips of violence, and incriminating commentary by Trump insiders such as Attorney General Bill Barr, Ivanka Trump, and even some Fox News hosts.

The criminal culpability of their program hosts is surely one of the reasons Fox News refused to air the hearings live. They certainly don’t want their audience to see their biggest stars being implicated in Trump’s crimes. That would only add to the humiliation of exposing how the network has been lying about the insurrection for the past year and a half. It would make it ever more evident that Fox is not – and has never been – a news network.

Prior to this historic event, Republicans on Fox News tried desperately to suppress it. In one segment Fox interviewed Rep. Jim Banks (R-Insurrectionist) who confidently predicted that the telecast would be a big flop. “The American people have already dismissed it,” he lied. “They’re tuning out. They’re gonna flip the channel.”

That’s coming from the guy who was bounced from the Committee because he is an accomplice to Trump’s crimes. Banks also employs Tucker Carlson’s son, Buckley, as his communications director. The following day Banks attested to his own failed prediction saying that “Last night’s hearing was a primetime dud. Nothing came out of it.”

On Friday morning Nielsen’s ratings were released. And despite Banks’ and Fox’s efforts to sabotage and deviously counterprogram the broadcast (Tucker Carlson ran his show commercial free in order to prevent people from switching channels), the numbers reflect solid interest by the American people:

“ABC took the largest haul of viewers, earning 4.8 million of them, while NBC and CBS carried 3.5 million and 3.3 million, respectively.

“On cable, MSNBC pulled in a whopping 4.1 million viewers during the hearings, nearly four times what the network averages on a typical weeknight.

“Usually dominant Fox News Channel came in second place on cable on Thursday night, averaging 3 million viewers from 8 to 10 p.m. CNN came in third place with 2.6 million.”

That’s a combined 18.3 million viewers, and still doesn’t include a few other networks that carried the hearings (i.e. CSPAN, Fox Business, etc.). For comparison, Game two of the NBA Finals averaged 8.2 million viewers on Wednesday, and Fox’s MasterChef got 2.1 million. Fox News averaged 2.6 million across prime time on Wednesday.

So these numbers for Thursday’s hearings show the networks performing better than the top rated cable news channel. Furthermore, there will be a lot more viewers due to streaming, social media, and coverage by news programs in the days to come.

Consequently, the loss of Fox News will be less than irrelevant. Their 2-3 million glassy-eyed viewers aren’t persuadable anyway. So who needs them? The vast majority of the American people are going to be better informed by the end the hearings, and the legal foundation for indictments will be stronger than ever. The Trump junkies will remain irredeemably deranged.

UPDATE: True to form, Trump is attempting to gaslight his dimwitted cult disciples by claiming that the ratings for the hearings are “really BAD…far lower than anticipated.” Which is 180 degrees from reality. He also calls it a “Witch Hunt” because – isn’t everything he doesn’t like either a witch hunt or a hoax in his diseased mind?

Fox News Commits to Keeping Their Viewers Ignorant By Refusing to Air the January 6th Hearings

This week the bipartisan House Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection incited by Donald Trump will hold public hearings. They are expected to reveal evidence that documents the seditious attempt by Trump and his comrades to undermine democracy by preventing Congress from certifying the election of President Biden.

The riots on Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021, were the result of Trump’s relentless lying that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him. Five law enforcements officers died, and more than 140 were injured in what Trump and most Republicans say was a “peaceful” protest.

The House Committee spent ten months probing the insurrection and its causes, reviewing millions of documents and conducting more than a thousand interviews. Now they are prepared to make the case to the American people that Trump and his cronies were actively staging a coup to illegally seize power and install Trump as America’s first dictator.

The hearings are going to be aired live on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and MSNBC. Notably missing from that list is Fox News. Because they are afraid of the truth and devoted to keeping their viewers ignorant, Fox News has decided not air one of the most historically significant congressional hearings of modern times. Instead, Fox will stick with their regular primetime Trump-fluffing consisting of Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham, and Sean Hannity.

Fox's top news anchors will be moved over to the Fox Business Network, and they will cover the hearing there. At 8pm ET on an ordinary night, Fox News has more than 3 million viewers, while Fox Business has under 100,000. That pretty much says it all about Fox's priorities.

This is more confirmation that Fox is not – and never has been – a news network. They were created to advance an ultra-conservative agenda and to promote Republican politics. And while the actual news organizations are informing the public, Fox News will be serving their master, Donald Trump, with counterprogramming that is nothing more than right-wing propaganda. It’s what Trump ordered his minions to do, and they are obediently complying.

Fox’s decision to blackout the hearings is not merely due to their blatant biases. It is also self-protection. That’s because their primetime hosts are more than just mouthpieces for Trump. They are also accomplices in his criminal activities. Consequently, they could be featured in the hearings when testimony is given about what took place as the insurrection was in progress. For instance, they were texting Trump during assault:

Hannity wrote: Can he make a statement, ask people to leave the Capitol?
Kilmeade wrote: Please, get him on TV. Destroying everything you have accomplished.
Ingraham wrote: Mark, the president needs to tell people in the Capitol to go home. This is hurting all of us. He is destroying his legacy.
Even Donald Trump Jr wrote: He’s got to condemn this shit ASAP. The Capitol Police tweet is not enough.

Never mind that within hours of these texts, the Foxies had retreated to their standard positions fawning over and covering for Trump. As for Carlson, no one has lied more about the insurrection than he has. He even produced the “Patriot Purge” crocumentary wherein he charged that the whole sordid affair was a “false flag” operation orchestrated by the FBI.

So Fox News has several dishonest and self-serving reasons for suppressing the news rather than reporting it. First, they don’t want to air anything that so clearly contradicts what they’ve been lying about for a year and a half. Secondly, they are devoted to keeping their glassy-eyed audience as ignorant and artificially outraged as possible. And finally, they aren’t about to give airtime to hearings that will reveal their own participation in Trump’s lawless scheme.

The result will be an expansion of the gap between the viewers of Fox News and the rest of the reality-based American people. And that could exacerbate rising tensions and lead to more violence on the part of the StormTrumpers. Which is exactly what Trump wants. And Fox News is, once again, aiding and abetting his treasonous aspirations.

Now Trump is Calling the January 6th Insurrection ‘a Hoax…Just Like Russia Russia Russia’

On Saturday Trump held another of his traveling salivation shows. This one was in Wyoming where Trump is trying to oust Rep. Liz Cheney, a fellow Republican who he has declared insufficiently worshipful. Cheney committed the deadly sin of recognizing that Joe Biden obviously won the 2020 presidential election, and that Trump’s attempts to undermine democracy deserved a fair hearing and legal sanctions if criminality is proven.

Trump’s address in Wyoming, like nearly all of his public rants, was a rehashing of the tedious playlist that he regurgitates on auto-spew. So naturally he devoted significant time to his obsession with the allegations of voter fraud for which he has been unable to provide a shred of evidence after sixteen months, more than sixty court challenges, and a new crocumentary by an actual felon who was convicted of voter fraud.

What was new at this event was that Trump expanded his list of verifiable occurrences that he considers to be a hoax. In addition to his first impeachment, his second impeachment, his extortion of Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, the COVID-19 virus, the Mueller Report, climate change, the 2020 presidential election results, and his well-documented connections to Russia, Trump is now adding the January 6th insurrection. He repeatedly made the claim that it was a hoax in Wyoming saying that…

So now Trump wants his glassy-eyed disciples to believe that the riots on Capitol Hill that everyone saw on live television, never actually happened. He has previously tried to gaslight his gullible groupies by saying that the rioters were merely peaceful protesters, or vacationing tourists, or even clandestine operatives working for Antifa and/or the FBI. But this appears to be the first time he has denied its existence.

Trump may have a difficult time selling this notion that the insurrection was a hoax to the populace at large. According to a recent Pew Research survey, 67% of the American people – including 41% of Republicans – said that Trump “bears some or a lot of responsibility for the violence and destruction committed by some of his supporters when they broke into the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.”

Nevertheless, Trump will keep trying to peddle his pathetic lies. And his narrow assembly of Deplorables will eagerly lap it up. And as long as Trump can continue to fleece his flock, he will be satisfied. That’s the way of the Grifter.

Insurrectionist Trump Toady Mo Brooks Warns that Guns Are Needed to ‘Take Back Our Government’

In the wake of the tragic massacre in Uvalde, Texas, the debate over how to prevent future such atrocities rages on in Congress and in the press. And as is common during these debates, there is an over abundance of hypocrisy, hyperbole and flagrant dishonesty.

Among the more repugnant reactions to this mass shooting at an elementary school is the one taken by Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Trumpist) of Alabama. Brooks is currently locked in tight Republican primary race for the Senate. Consequently, he is exploiting every opportunity to grab media exposure to offset the fact that he was recently un-endorsed by Donald Trump because “he went woke” by suggesting that Republicans should put the 2020 election behind them.

Brooks, it should be noted, is not retracting his support for the “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged,” or altering his view that “Trump was robbed.” He’s just making a political judgment that moving on would benefit GOP candidates. And if there were any doubt about his devotion to the insurrection that he helped to incite on January 6, 2021, Brooks removed it during an appearance on Fox News Sunday:

Sandra Smith: Would you support any changes to the current gun laws on the books?
Brooks: Let’s, for emphasis, understand what the 2nd Amendment is about. The 2nd Amendment is designed to help ensure that we, the citizenry, always have the right to take back our government should it become dictatorial. That was a great fear of the Founding Fathers and, quite frankly, it’s a fear today. And as long as we enjoy uninfringed Second Amendment rights then we don’t really have to worry that much about the government ever becoming dictatorial. But the moment that we take from our citizenry our ability to take our government back is the moment that the ability of dictatorial forces increases to the point where perhaps they will try to implement a dictatorial government at the federal level.

Like every other right-wing 2nd Amendment fetishist and NRA-Theist, Brooks is misinterpreting what the amendment means. It had nothing to do with rising up against the U.S. government. It was intended to ensure that citizens could arm themselves, as part of a “well regulated militia,” to defend the U.S. against foreign invaders.

What Brooks is advocating is the violent overthrow of the U.S. government in the event that he and his neo-fascist confederates disapprove of the democratic will of the American people. In other words… Insurrection! He’s proposing that seditionists take up arms against the U.S. military and fellow citizens.

This is, unfortunately, not the only ultra-idiotic opinion about guns that is emanating from the radical right. For instance…

Trump himself told the NRA crowd that the solution to school shootings is to turn schools into prisons and teachers into armed guards.
Texas Gov. Abbott blamed mental illness for the mass shootings that have plagued his state, even as he cut funding for mental health care.
Lauren Boebert made a nauseating comparison between Uvalde and 9/11, arguing that “We didn’t ban planes” after the terrorist attack twenty-one years ago.

As for Brooks, his persistent advocacy of insurrection could result in his being prohibited from holding elective office. A recent ruling by a federal appeals court found that “Candidates who take part in an insurrection may be barred from holding public office under the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution.” Upholding that ruling would go a long way toward ensuring that Trump’s brand of treason and tyranny does not threaten the principles that actually did make America great.

Former Attorney General Eric Holder Says There is ‘Sufficient Factual Information’ to Indict Trump

And for sixteen months the nation has been holding its collective breath while waiting for the Justice Department to hold Trump accountable for his brazen attempts to undermine democracy.

While there have been numerous indictments of individual StormTrumpers for crimes ranging from trespassing to sedition, Trump himself has still not faced the legal consequences of his treasonous acts. A recent poll shows that, nearly a year and a half after the acts of domestic terrorism in Washington, D.C., 67% of the American people – including 41% of Republicans – say that he “bears some or a lot of responsibility for the violence and destruction committed by some of his supporters when they broke into the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.”

On Sunday’s episode of Face the Nation on CBS, host Margaret Brennan interviewed former Attorney General Eric Holder, who served in the Obama administration. When asked about the prospect of a Trump indictment, Holder replied that he thinks that, based on the evidence, it would be warranted:

Brennan: Merrick Garland, you mentioned, he’s now in your old job as Attorney General. There have been critics of him who say that he isn’t being aggressive enough around the prosecutions of January 6th. Do you think that’s right?
Holder: No one knows. I mean, I have great faith in Merrick and the people at the Justice Department. We won’t really know how aggressive they’ve been until they are before a camera and announcing a decision, either to indict certain people or not indict certain people. Here’s my prediction. At some point people at the Justice Department, perhaps that prosecutor in Atlanta, are gonna have to make a determination about whether or not they want to indict Donald Trump.
Brennan: Will they do it?
Holder: Well, I think there’s gonna be sufficient factual information. And I think that there’s going to be sufficient proof of intent. And then the question becomes, what’s the impact of of such an indictment? I’m an institutionalist. My initial thought was not to indict the former president out of concern of how divisive it would be. But given what we have learned, I think that he probably has to be held accountable.

Holder is correct in saying that the status of Merrick’s progress with regard to a case against Trump is unknowable at this time. While frustrating for those who fear that Trump is getting away with his crimes, Merrick’s discretion is actually the proper way of handling any investigation.

However, it is encouraging that Holder, who is well acquainted with Department of Justice protocols, is convinced that both the facts and the intent sufficient to merit an indictment of Trump exist right now. What’s more, he is comfortable articulating that opinion on national television.

The only disappointing part of Holder’s remarks is his claim to be an “institutionalist,” which led him to initially lean against indicting Trump because it might be “divisive.” That is not a consideration based on legal principle. If there is evidence of a crime sufficient to convict, an indictment should be mandatory. Whether or not it is divisive is a political call that has nothing to do with the law. It would only create a gap in enforcement that allows the privileged class to escape punishment for their unlawful acts. It would place criminals like Trump above the law.

Notwithstanding his initial considerations, Holder has come to right conclusion. There is abundant evidence of numerous crimes that Trump has committed. He could be indicted today for violations of laws that related to his real estate business, his taxes, electoral fraud, intimidating government officials, abuse of power, perjury, and probably more. Hopefully AG Garland is working on indictments for these. Time will tell, but not until after it’s done frustrating.

Trump Shill Calls Violent Insurrectionists ‘Unwitting,’ Peaceful Abortion Protesters ‘Terrorists’

In the wake of the disclosure of the draft opinion that would overturn Roe v Wade, by the Supreme Court’s uber-conservative faction, the anti-choice extremists of America have embarked on a crusade to malign those who support women’s rights to safe and legal reproductive healthcare as radical thugs fomenting chaos and violence.

The hostile characterization of the peaceful protests by abortion rights activists is as far removed from reality as Donald Trump’s delusional insistence that he won the 2020 presidential election (which he and his toadies at Fox News are still squawking about). However, Americans who are worried about the loss of liberties have been appropriately and responsibly protesting the Court’s perverse opinion that is utterly lacking in legal basis. As opposed to the right-wingers who are dodging the issue by fixating on the leak, rather than the substance.

Never mind that the identity of the leaker is unknown and is more likely to be a conservative than a liberal. The frantic and coordinated campaign to disparage the left is unfurling in a wave of wrath and fury. On Fox News Laura Ingraham even resorted to contriving an imaginary scenario wherein “mobs of people descended at the Court, screaming what could be described as threatening language toward some of the Justices.” Which, of course, never happened.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s Twitter ban defying spokes-shill, Liz Harrington, is busy posting tweets that seek to paint a grossly dishonest picture of the pro-choice protesters. Along with a supposedly incriminating video, Harrington said that…

The first thing to notice about this blather is that Harrington is asserting that the deadly insurrection that Trump incited on January 6, 2021, was nothing more than some “unwitting” folks, upset by nonexistent election fraud, taking a tour of Congress. That’s true, if your definition of “unwitting” includes storming through police barriers, breaking doors and windows, vandalizing and stealing government property, and injuring more than 140 law enforcement officers. For the record, “unwitting” means “without being aware; unintentionally.” So Harrington thinks that hundreds of Trump supporters broke into the Capitol unaware or unintentionally? Really?

What’s more, Harrington is absurdly implying that the pro-choice protesters are “terrorists.” However, the video that she included in her tweet was hardly proof of her irresponsible accusation. In fact, it proved that the protesters behavior was both lawful and restrained. It shows that they did not invade any private property, nor engage in any threatening acts. They merely conducted a legal demonstration and chanted slogans saying to “Keep abortion safe and legal,” and that “Pro-life is a lie. You don’t care if people die.”

Harrington’s comparison of this nonviolent civil action to the riots conducted by domestic terrorists at the Capitol is preposterous in the extreme. But it is exactly the sort of deceitful provocation that is expected of the ultra-rightists who aspire to foment division and incite more violence. And if there is one thing they’ve made clear, it’s that it is their intention to gag anyone who disagrees with their brand of conservative authoritarianism, and to suppress dissenters who prefer democracy over the tyrannical ambitions of wannabe dictators like Donald Trump.

Biden Slams the ‘Extreme MAGA Crowd’ After Roe v Wade Leak. Fox News and Newsmax Prove He’s Right

The reprehensible roll back of constitutional rights by the conservative faction of the Supreme Court has triggered some interesting and asinine responses. By overturning Roe v Wade the Court has put the lives of millions of women at risk and set back civil liberties half a century at least. And the rightist activists on the Court, in Congress, and in the media, are just getting started.

Monday morning President Biden weighed in on the draft opinion that was leaked to the press. He didn’t mince words as he speculated about the possible ramifications of the impending ruling. Biden asked…

“What happens if you have states change the law saying that children who are LGBTQ can’t be in classrooms with other children? Is that legit under the way the decision is written? What are the next things that are gonna be attacked? Because this MAGA crowd is really the most extreme political organization that’s existed in recent American history.”

Biden’s assessment of the extremist MAGAts was precisely on target. And although it was well known long before this Court ruling, the anti-choice zealots (three of whom were appointed by Donald Trump) reinforced their bona fides as radical regressives who don’t care about legal principles or precedents. And unsurprisingly, their devolutionary opinions were echoed in the wingnut media.

Laura Ingraham at Fox News imposed her hallmark hysteria in a harangue that made little sense outside of her warped imagination. She ranted…

“Imagine if the case was reversed and we had heard through release, egregiously, that the court was coming down the other way. And imagine if mobs of people descended at the Court, screaming what could be described as threatening language toward some of the Justices, or very derogatory language. Oh, you’d have Nancy Pelosi and the whole crowd up there today saying we need to wall off the city again. We need to put the fences back up. And those are the insurrectionists trying to undermine the legitimacy of the Court. That’s what they would be saying today and tonight.”

HUH? Ingraham is saying that if Roe was upheld and conservatives stormed the Supreme Court like they did Congress during the January 6, 2021 insurrection, that Nancy Pelosi and others would condemn that violent and lawless behavior. Well, of course they would. As should everyone. Ingraham seems to be implying that liberals and/or Democrats did that after the Roe opinion was leaked. But, directing Ingraham back to the world, they didn’t. That sort of seditious cretinism is unique to the right-wing StormTrumpers.

Not to be left out, Grant Stinchfield at Newsmax was intent on laying blame for the leak on an innocent liberal, despite having no evidence of who provided the draft document to the press. Stinchfield babbled that…

“I find it suspect that the first leak coming out of the Supreme Court in history comes shortly after Judge [Ketanji Brown] Jackson is confirmed. I want to know if her law clerks, who I am sure have already been hired – possibly even working at the high court already, before her swearing in – have access to these draft decisions. She would be my first suspect when it comes to the leak. Because Ketanji Brown Jackson is a radical, left-wing activist, more radical than any other Justice in the history of the Supreme Court. I believe she is capable of undermining the Court this way.”

WHUT? As someone who is not presently a member of the Court, Judge Jackson obviously has no access to documents. Nor do her, as yet nonexistent, law clerks. And the notion that she is “more radical than any other Justice in the history’ can only come from the delusions of a depraved partisan propagandist. Which is a description that fits Stinchfield like an exceedingly tight straight-jacket. He is, after all, the guy who contrived the infamous “Dandelion-Gate” scandal wherein White House staffers planted flowers so that Biden could pick some and give them to his wife, Jill.

These are the sort of inanities that pass for political discourse among the uber-conservative politicos and pundits. It does nothing to advance any substantive discussion of critical issues such as reproductive rights. But it does affirm, as Biden said, that the MAGA Crowd remains the most extreme – and more worrisome – dangerous political group in recent American history.

Trump Goes Bonkers When Fiona Hill Calls the January 6th Insurrection ‘Trump Pulling a Putin’

In a revealing interview with New York Times Magazine, Fiona Hill opened up about her tenure with the Bush, Obama, and Trump administrations. And to no one’s surprise, there were some stark differences that presented themselves with the openly authoritarian, and frighteningly ignorant, term of Donald Trump.

The interview covered a lot of territory, but with regard specifically to Trump, there are some truly disturbing assessments of his incompetence and devotion to only his own personal interests. Among Hill’s remarks were the following…

“In the course of his presidency, indeed, Trump would come more to resemble Putin in political practice and predilection than he resembled any of his recent American presidential predecessors.”

And that…

“I saw the thread. The thread connecting the Zelensky phone call to Jan. 6, and I remembered how, in 2020, Putin had changed Russia’s Constitution to allow him to stay in power longer. This was Trump pulling a Putin.”

And that…

“We’ve been the gold standard of democratic elections. All of that will be rolled back If Trump returns to power after claiming the only way he could ever lose is if someone steals it from him. It’ll be more than diplomatic shock. I think it would mean the total loss of America’s leadership position in the world arena.”

Hill is not the first or only patriot to recognize these risks that Trump placed in America’s path. But she is someone whose stature in the White House, and whose accumulated experience and knowledge of Russia and Eastern Europe are impeccable.

So naturally, once someone told Trump about Hill’s remarks (because he surely didn’t read the article himself), he lashed out with unbridled fury at her for daring to be appropriately critical of him. Trump posted on Twitter (via his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill) that…

“Fiona Hill is a Radical Left RINO, but the word RINO is too good. She doesn’t know the first thing she’s talking about. If she didn’t have the accent she would be nothing. During the Impeachment Hoax #1, she had no credibility, obviously, because we won unanimously. Never listened to her, I hardly knew her at all. She knew nothing about me, I knew nothing about her, and I liked it that way.”

Much of that harangue is just more of the tiresome apoplexy that Trump disgorges whenever somebody treats him with less than the total reverence to which he feels entitled. So of course Hill is a “radical,” and a “leftist,” and a “RINO.” And she doesn’t know what she’s talking about, despite her years of experience working for presidents of both parties. And as usual, Trump sinks to judging her on irrelevant attributes such as her accent. He’s probably also troubled that she isn’t an eighteen year old blonde.

Among the things that make this outburst particularly ludicrous is Trump’s assertion that he “won unanimously” the first time he was impeached. Being impeached is not in any way a victory, and he was impeached twice. And he’s apparently only counting the votes of the bootlicking Republicans in Congress who were too cowardly to uphold the law and democracy.

Trump also goes off the deep end with his claim that he “hardly knew [Hill] at all.” He’s confessing that he “knew nothing” about the senior director of Russian and European affairs in his own National Security Council. That’s an admission of serious dereliction of duty. Then again, why would he need to know anything about her when he had a direct line to Vladimir Putin, who was calling the shots in his White House?

It seems a day doesn’t go by when Trump isn’t revealing something embarrassing, horrifying, or incriminating about himself. And today is no exception. He continues to be a bundle of severely frayed nerves that are short-circuiting and threatening to ignite more hostilities and division. The sooner that he is indicted, prosecuted and convicted for his multitude of crimes, the better off our nation – and world – will be.
