HUH? Fox News and GOP Rep Think Democrats Will Draft Michelle Obama Due to Hunter Biden Verdict

As the 2024 presidential election cycle unfolds, one thing is becoming clearer with each passing day. The Republican Party is descending ever deeper into an abyss of desperation and unqualified madness at the heels of their convicted felon nominee for president. Donald Trump’s prospects are rapidly declining, and he is doing absolutely nothing to broaden his base of support beyond the MAGA cult clan that he caters to.

Michelle Obama, Fox News

In response to this dilemma, Trump’s Ministry of Propaganda – aka Fox News – has leapt into action to buttress his sagging aspirations to reoccupy the White House and impose an authoritarian regime. In addition to embracing his convictions on 34 felony charges of falsifying business records and election finance fraud resulting from his “hush money” payoff to porn star Stormy Daniels, Fox News is clutching feverishly to some of the most bizarre and preposterous rationales to continue supporting their Dear Leader.

SUCH AS THIS: Trump and Fox News Legal ‘Experts’ Call for a Mistrial After Falling for an Obvious Hoax

On Wednesday morning Fox News Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, interviewed GOP representative, Andy Ogles (TN-MAGA). Their discussion led to the following exchange that reveals just how far out on the limb of sanity they are willing to crawl.

Andy Ogles: I think that also creates an opening for Democrats to slip someone like Michelle Obama in here. The Biden family can say “Hey, we’re gonna take care of our house. We’re gonna take care of our son.” And allow Michelle Obama to come in and run. Because, again, Joe Biden can’t win this election, and they know that. And they are desperate for another candidate.
Bartiromo: I gotta tell you. I am increasingly thinking that Joe Biden withdraws from this race by the time November 5th comes along. I am buying into what you’re saying there because I agree that the Democrats are desperate right now. They are very worried.

That’s right. Bartiromo and Ogles have somehow twisted their perception of reality into one that accommodates an especially extreme crackpot conspiracy theory. They assert that the finding that Hunter Biden improperly filled out a form when he purchased a gun six years ago will somehow doom his father’s candidacy for reelection. They don’t explain why that would happen, but then they don’t have to. Their audience is comprised of cult followers who will believe whatever they are told to believe.

SEE THIS: HUH? Fox News and GOP Rep Think Democrats Will Draft Michelle Obama Due to Hunter Biden Verdict

For the record, these are the same brilliant analysts who claimed that President Biden rigged the justice system to prevent Hunter from being convicted. After the guilty verdict they claimed that the system was rigged to convict Hunter as a distraction from bigger imaginary crimes. In effect, they are now claiming that Biden rigged the system to push himself out of the race because he can’t simultaneously love his son and serve as President. And their assertion that Democrats are desperate is pure projection.

But Bartiromo and Ogles weren’t finished spinning their fantastical fairy tale of political intrigue. After dumping President Biden, these two MAGA-nauts went on to predict that Democrats would nominate Michelle Obama in his place. Never mind that Obama has repeatedly insisted that she has no intention or desire to run for office. The suggestion that she would do so is based solely on their fears that Trump is likely to lose again to Biden, just like he did in 2020. However, this isn’t the first time that this suggestion has been floated by nervous Republicans.

SEE ALSO: Trump and Fox News are So Scared Of Biden, They’re Switching in Gavin Newsom and Michelle Obama

Fox News and their Republican confederates have good reason to be afraid. Biden has presided over a booming economy. He has championed issues that the American people care about, including reproductive healthcare, tax equity, job creation, voting rights, adherence to democratic and constitutional principles, and support for international allies.

In the meantime, Trump had four disastrous years that left the nation poorer, sicker, more in debt, and more divided than ever. Then he left the White House kicking and screaming about election fraud, stole classified documents and lied about it to the FBI, tried to instigate a violent insurrection, and sought to strongarm state officials into altering election results. Since leaving office he has been adjudicated as a rapist, ordered to pay judgements of half a billion dollars, and has been convicted of multiple felonies.

The contrast between Biden and Trump could not be clearer. And that clarity is why Fox News and the Republican Party are inventing absurd scenarios that they think will deflect from the positive outlook for Biden and other Democrats. But even their manufactured “horror” stories are hysterically off base. Because Michelle Obama is among the most popular Americans of modern times, If she were actually a candidate, she would crush Trump. So you really have to wonder what Fox News is thinking. Or IF they’re thinking.

SCAREDY TRUMP? Sean Hannity Concocts an Excuse for Trump to Chicken Out of Debate with Biden

In about two weeks (June 27) the first debate between President Biden and convicted felon Donald Trump is scheduled to take place in Atlanta, Georgia. Regardless of what happens during the debate, it will be a historic event due to the fact that it will be the first time that a convicted felon is a participant, thanks to the weakness and cult worship of the Republican Party.

Donald Trump Chicken

There has been a great deal of speculation as to the expected performance of both candidates. Republicans are certain that Biden will display the ravages of age and its cognitive consequences. Never mind that he is only three years older than Trump, and that Trump has shown far more evidence of declining mental faculties. But even if Biden is vigorous, thoughtful, and informed, Republicans will dismiss it and accuse him of being on performance enhancing drugs.

SEE THIS: Adderall J. Trump Thinks He Can ‘Demand’ Biden Take a Drug Test Before the Debates – Or What?

Despite the GOP’s confidence that Trump is a “stable genius” (in his own words) who will slaughter Biden, who they contend is a senile communist, they are not as anxious to meet Biden in a debate as they pretend to be. On Monday night Fox News Senior Trump-Fluffer, Sean Hannity, moderated a discussion about the upcoming debate wherein he proposed that Trump ought not to show up at all.

“There are some even saying that Donald Trump might be wise to just pass on the first debate, wait until he’s nominated, then debate him.”

For the record, when Hannity says that “some” are saying, he means someone on his or Trump’s staff. Perhaps Trump himself. After all, Trump failed to show up for any of the Republican primary debates. And he surely recalls being soundly beaten by Biden in the 2020 debates.

SEE ALSO: Trump Calls Biden ‘the WORST Debater’ Despite Biden Crushing Him in the 2020 Debates and Election

What Hannity is doing is presenting a pre-fab excuse for Trump to chicken out and avoid debating Biden altogether. Hannity could not help but notice the bizarre behavior by Trump at his recent cult rally in Las Vegas where Trump revealed his fears of electrocution and/or shark attacks; his outrage at stage hands who sabotaged his TelePrompTers; his praise of the traitorous January 6th “warriors”; and other assorted buffoonery. Consequently, Hannity felt compelled to provide Trump with an escape hatch in order to prevent a monumental humiliation.

Hannity’s excuse doesn’t even make any sense. What difference would it make to wait until after he’s nominated? What’s he afraid of? And this isn’t the first time that Hannity has speculated about Trump blowing the debate to “Jacked up Joe,” who Hannity claimed – with zero evidence – would be on pharmaceutical boosters.

Sean Hannity of Fox News is Already Making Excuses for Why Trump Will Lose Debates to Biden
“If he does debate, we will see jacked up Joe 2.0. Whatever Red bull that he drank, or caffeine pills that he took, or whatever he might have taken, I promise you they’ll give it to him again”

What’s more, Fox News went even farther with their conspiratorial crackpottery alleging that Team Biden was plotting a physical assault on Trump in the debate hall just prior to it beginning.

Fox News Floats Conspiracy Theory that Biden is Plotting to Assault Trump to Avoid Debating Him
“It will probably be a Nancy Kerrigan situation too, where right as Trump is walking out…”

This is not the sort of rhetoric that is espoused by people confident of success or the capabilities of their candidate. They are clearly afraid of a brewing catastrophe. And that fear is likely to have originated with the candidate himself. Trump is a notorious coward who tries to cover up his fears with false bravado. But these feeble excuses floated by his Fox News flunkies is only going to make things worse for him should he end up weaseling out. Which at this point appears to be an increasingly likely scenario.

LOCK HIM UP: After Guilty Verdicts, Poll Finds that More Americans Say Trump Should Go To Prison

Even before Donald Trump was found guilty on 34 counts of felony falsification of business records (in his so-called “Hush Money” case), he and his MAGA media minions were salivating over the prospect of his conviction. That’s right. They were convinced that it would result in some sort of alternative universe backlash and that his popularity would skyrocket.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Prison

Never mind that at the same time that Trump was supposedly happily embracing the legal catastrophe he faced, he was also engaged in daily diatribes against the court, the judge, the prosecutors, the witnesses, the jurors, the Department of Justice, and the Biden administration. All of whom he sought to blame for his circumstances that he portrayed as both awesome and abominable.

SEE THIS: Crybaby Trump Whines that ‘I Am a Political Prisoner,’ then Proves He Has No Idea What that Means

However, a new poll was released after the verdict was handed down that may conflict with Trump’s delusional appraisal of his situation. And the findings are not merely that Trump is guilty, but that he deserves his next term be one that is behind bars. As it turns out, the nation’s voters may not be as anxious to board the Trump train as he thinks…

“In the wake of former President Donald Trump’s felony conviction last week for falsifying business records to hide a hush money payment to a porn star, President Biden (46%) now leads his Republican rival (44%) in a two-way race for the White House for the first time since October 2023, according to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll” [and also that] “more Americans think Trump should get a prison sentence (43%) than think he should not (40%).”

Uh-oh! A plurality of the American people think that Trump should be sent to the Big House, not the White House. And it’s even worse than it seems. While the 43-40 split may not appear to be a significant difference, many of the 40% who did not agree that Trump should go to prison still believe that he committed a serious crime, that he should be held accountable, and that the verdict was fair…

[More people – a 51% majority] think the New York jury reached the ‘right verdict’ in Trump’s hush money case than think the verdict was ‘wrong’ (30%). Likewise, more Americans than ever (54%) now believe Trump committed the crime for which he was on trial.” [Also] “Overall, 52% say Trump’s conviction was a ‘fair outcome meant to hold him accountable for his own actions’; just 35% who say it was ‘an unfair outcome meant to damage him politically.'”

So Trump still maintains his base – and ceiling – of cult disciples at about 30%. Everyone else thinks he’s guilty and that some sort of punishment would be appropriate to hold him accountable. And that’s just with regard to the just concluded case in Manhattan. It doesn’t take into consideration the three other indictments he’s facing in Washington, D.C. (for inciting an insurrection), in Florida (for stealing and lying about classified documents), and in Georgia (for election interference).

Trump apologists on Fox News and elsewhere are at a loss for any rational explanations to arrive at some form of exoneration for him. They all sing from the same hymnal that their Dear Leader is a victim of nefarious forces bent on destroying him and America. For example, Jonathan Turley, the Trump-fluffing law professor who frequently waxes idiotic on Fox News, had this to say…

“It would be absurd to sentence him to jail. He is an elderly first offender. Non-violent crime. In a very controversial prosecution.”

First of all, the only thing controversial about Trump’s prosecution is that he has become the first former president to ever be convicted of felony crimes. The jury voted unanimously 34 times to convict him. Apparently it wasn’t controversial to the people who saw all of the evidence and swore to uphold the law.

Secondly, many first offenders are sentenced to prison. And that includes Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer. And Cohen’s conviction and sentence were for crimes related to the very same ones that Trump was convicted for and, in fact, initiated.

Finally, Turley’s assertion that Trump shouldn’t get a prison sentence because he is “elderly” is especially telling. If Trump is unfit to serve time for crimes he committed, how can Turley – or any voter – regard him as fit to serve in the White House?

In the meantime, Trump is continuing behave as if he’s daring the judge to incarcerate him. In a speech to his cult followers at a Las Vegas rally on Sunday, Trump spoke out in defense of his fellow criminals that assaulted Congress on January 6, 2021. He said that…

“Those J6 warriors. They were warriors, But they were really more than anything else — they’re victims.”

Just as a reminder, we’re talking about violent mobs that put 140+ police officers in the hospital, battered down doors, broke windows, vandalized the seat of American democracy, and threatened the lives of members of Congress and their staffs. And Trump has variously described them as FBI operatives, Antifa agitators, and hostages. But now he says that they were “warriors.”

Which makes them, in fact, an army of insurrectionists who had declared war on the United States with an invasion of its government facilities. And it was all at the direction of now-convicted felon Donald Trump. So do you think he should be sentenced to prison? That shouldn’t be a controversial question for most Americans.

Trump Still Swears to Take Revenge on Political Foes Even After Lame Attempts to Walk it Back

The prospect of another four years of Donald Trump occupying the White House is a blood curdling notion that most Americans would find more nauseating than dinner with Hannibal Lector who, along with Jeffrey Epstein, has been making more frequent appearances in Trump’s stump speeches at his cult rallies.

Donald Trump Tyrant Dictator

In most presidential campaigns, the candidates focus on detailing their proposals for advancing the welfare of the citizenry whose votes they seek. Trump, however, has been a uniquely unconventional candidate. His pitch to voters is a promise to “be their retribution,” He was even asked by Sean Hannity of Fox News whether he had “any plans whatsoever, if reelected president, to abuse power, to break the law, to use the government to go after people?” To which Trump replied that he would only be a dictator on “day one.” That’s comforting, isn’t it?

SEE THIS: Trump Cloddishly Dodges Hannity’s Softball Questions About Whether He Would Be a Dictator

More recently, Trump and his MAGA media mouthpieces have been attempting to sanitize his most appalling campaign promises to arrest, prosecute, and incarcerate his political enemies. To that end he sat for an interview with Dr. Phil McGraw who tried to give him an opening to soften his stance on vengeance, asking him specifically about his intentions to “make the people that have come after you pay.” But Trump instead replied that “Sometimes revenge can be justified, I have to be honest.”

On Thursday Trump made it clear that he still intends to lock up his critics. He posted a comment on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, wherein he maliciously and childishly attacked President Biden, the American justice system, and members of Congress…

“It is a Total and Complete American Tragedy that the Crooked Joe Biden Department of Injustice is so desperate to jail Steve Bannon, and every other Republican, for that matter, for not SUBMITTING to the Unselect Committee of Political Thugs, made up of all Democrats, and two CRAZED FORMER REPUBLICAN LUNATICS, Cryin’ Adam Kinzinger, and Liz ‘Out of Her Mind’ Cheney.”

Although that was just the beginning of an elaborate rant that was typically comprised of flagrant falsehoods and culminated with a call to indict the members of the House Committee Investigating January 6th…

“It has been irrefutably proven that it was the Unselects who committed actual crimes when they deleted and destroyed all material evidence, in a pathetic attempt to protect Crazy Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats from the TRUTH — THAT I DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG. The unAmerican Weaponization of our Law Enforcement has reached levels of Illegality never thought possible before. INDICT THE UNSELECT J6 COMMITTEE FOR ILLEGALLY DELETING AND DESTROYING ALL OF THEIR ‘FINDINGS!’ MAGA2024”

First of all, Trump’s assertion that crimes by the Committee were “irrefutably proven” have no basis in reality. There is no truth whatsoever that the Committee “deleted and destroyed all material evidence.” That’s a lie that Trump has floated before, and it has been thoroughly debunked.

SEE THIS: Trump Demands Indictments Be Withdrawn After Fox News Falsely Reports on January 6th Committee

Reality, however, has not deterred to Trump from calling for indictments and further persecution driven by his wholly fabricated allegations. And he has gotten support from his pals at Fox News. For instance, Jesse Watters did a segment in which he dismissed as a hoax accurate observations by Democrats that Trump “plans to jail opponents.” Kellyanne Conway said that not having prosecuted Hillary Clinton is proof that Trump doesn’t want revenge. Except that he tried to, but failed because his Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, couldn’t find any crime. And Trump recently told Fox and Friends that he never said “Lock her up,” about Clinton. Except that he definitely did…

So regardless of what the Trump-fluffers on Fox News and other right-wing media say, Trump is clearly on a determined course to emulate his hero, Vladimir Putin, by eliminating his opponents by any means necessary. He says so. Believe him. And then be sure to vote for Biden and every Democrat on the ballot to make certain that Trump’s nightmarish vision doesn’t come true.

POOR BABY: Trump Insists He’s a ‘Legitimate Person’ Who is ‘Under Siege’ in a ‘Banana Republic’

This week the Wall Street Journal published an article with a brazenly biased headline saying that “Behind Closed Doors, Biden Shows Signs of Slipping.” The article featured quotes and baseless allegations that were almost exclusively by partisan Republicans known for their tendency to shamelessly lie to malign President Biden.

Fox News Sean Hannity

CNN’s Oliver Darcy delivered a detailed and damning dissection of the Journal’s purely political hit piece. They could have covered Trump, a candidate showing actual signs of a degenerating grip on reality, but no. That would have meant being honest journalists, which is contrary to their corporate mission.

SEE THIS: Crybaby Trump Whines that ‘I Am a Political Prisoner,’ then Proves He Has No Idea What that Means

After breaking down the numerous journalistic flaws in the Journal’s “reporting,” Darcy asked “Where are the stories about Trump’s former inner circle raising questions about his mental fitness?” Those stories could have included actual on-the-record sources that know Trump well, such as his former communications director, Alyssa Farah Griffin, or his former U.N. ambassador, Nikki Haley. Darcy also wrote that…

“Republicans accusing their political foe of lacking the mental fitness to hold office is nothing surprising. Such accusations are made every night on Fox News. And Donald Trump, who at 77 years old has also shown plenty of signs of waning mental faculties, including repeatedly falling asleep at his own high-stakes hush money trial, has made the accusation a centerpiece of his campaign. In other words, these accusations from the right aren’t exactly news.”

It may be too much to expect that a Rupert Murdoch rag like the WSJ would actually produce fair coverage of the candidates in this year’s presidential election. Although, Democrats hardly need any help from right-wing propagandists to demonstrate the mental unfitness of Trump. He does that exceptionally well all by himself. Virtually every word that comes out of his mouth is evidence of his acute cognitive decline.

A perfect example of this occurred on Wednesday during an interview of Trump by his bestie, Sean Hannity of Fox News. Hannity spent half of his time trying guide Trump through leading questions that Trump was too dense to pick up on. For instance, Hannity would pose questions like “You wouldn’t engage in retribution against your political enemies, would you?” To which Trump would equivocate saying that “It has to stop,” but adding that “I would have every right to go after them.”

Despite his hedging, Trump has every intention of persecuting Biden and other Democrats. He and his MAGA confederates have been explicitly calling for the arrest, incarceration, and even execution of Democrats and other critics.. It’s literally laid out in their horrifyingly totalitarian Project 2025 Agenda.

However, Trump’s latest affirmation of how he is showing “Signs of Slipping” is not even behind closed doors. It’s right out in the open, and broadcast on Fox News. During the segment with Hannity wherein Trump embraced his hostile and imaginary “right to go after” his foes, he unleashed the following stream of nonsensicality…

“Look, what I’ve gone through nobody’s ever gone through. I’m a very legitimate person. I built a great business. Everything’s been…I’ve been under siege. Nobody has ever seen anything like this in this country. Now in other countries, in other third world countries, or Banana Republics as they say, a Banana Republic. We’ve become a Banana Republic. At the border we’ve become a Banana Republic. With so many other elements of our country we’ve become a Banana Republic. You take a look at what’s happening with inflation. That’s a Banana Republic inflation what we have.”

Holy Shih Tzu! It appears that Trump learned a new phrase – Banana Republic – so he felt compelled to repeat it six times in less than twenty seconds. It’s behavior that is more commonly observed in proud toddlers who are eager to show off what new knowledge or skill they acquired. In toddlers, it’s kind of cute. In 77 year old malignant narcissists, with a weakening grasp on reality and aspirations of authoritarian power, it’s sad and somewhat frightening.

Trump’s remarks also display the severe anxiety and gnawing victimhood (“under siege”) that has become a hallmark of his perverse persona. In his mind there is no one that has ever lived who was ever more tormented by evil forces, despite the abundance of magnificence that he believes he is responsible for. He is, after all, a “legitimate person.” As opposed to what? A Looney Tunes cartoon character? (Okay, that example may be a little too on the nose).

Finally, Trump has proven that he has no idea what the phrase “Banana Republic” means. He just uses it as an all-purpose pejorative. He mistakenly believes that only small impoverished nations hold their former leaders accountable when they violate the law. And now he’s learning the hard way that even America has standards for legal conduct that do not permit him to get away with criminal acts, like he has for much of his business career. And unfortunately for him, his legal problems have only just begun.

In Desperation, Due to Guilty Verdicts and Flagging Polls, Trump Flip-Flops on Mail-In Voting

From the beginning of his misadventures in politics, Donald Trump has opposed any form of voting other than a same day presence at a physical polling place. He has insisted that all forms of early voting and mail-in balloting are schemes contrived by Democrats to contaminate elections with fraud.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Vote By Mail

As a result of his relentless anti-early and mail-in voting campaign, Trump’s glassy-eyed cult disciples now refuse to dirty themselves with the practice that their Dear Leader has decreed is infected with nasty, democratic corruption. Never mind that there has never been any evidence of the widespread fraud that Trump and his MAGA GOP confederates fear monger about with such ferocity.

SEE THIS: THANKS DON: Trump’s Bashing of Mail-In Voting Has Created an Enduring Advantage for Democrats

Which makes Trump’s newfound embrace of early and mail-in voting all the more peculiar and blatantly hypocritical. In a post on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, Trump proudly announced that

“Today we launched Swamp The Vote USA. Whether you vote absentee, by mail, early in person, or on Election Day—We will Secure Your Vote. JUST VOTE! They are all good options. The way to win is to Swamp Them with Votes!”

OH! So now “They are all good options”? That’s funny. Because prior to this they were all swindling and cheating and villainous tricks to steal your vote. They were what Trump insisted were “totally corrupt” cons where you “automatically have fraud.”

Trump was so adamant about his opposition to early and mail-in voting that he warned that it would be “a disaster for our Country and for conservatism,” and that if allowed “There will never be a Republican elected to high office again.” Which actually sounds more like a reward than a threat.

SEE ALSO: GOOD NEWS: Trump Warns That With Mail-In Voting There Will Be No More Republicans

There was, however, some notable pushback to Trump’s trepidation. Among the GOP officials encountering his objections was his daughter-in-lawlessness, Lara Trump, who he recently installed as co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC). She took the completely opposite view saying that

“If we want to compete with the Democrats, we cannot wait until Election Day. If we want to compete and win, we must embrace early voting. The days of waiting until Election Day to vote are over.”

Surprisingly, despite her disobedience, Trump never attacked Lara as a RINO who is aligned with the radical left Marxists, thugs, and vermin, working to destroy the country. Instead, Trump has adopted her view and now is imploring his cult followers to employ the voting methods that he previously denigrated as evil. Although, even with his new position, he is still denouncing the practice. In a video on his new “Swamp the Vote” website, he promises that right after this election…

“I will, once and for all, secure our elections. We’re going to go to paper ballot. We’re going to have same day voting, voter ID.”

Clearly, Trump is only concerned about this issue because he sees that his support is waning in the wake of his 34 felony guilty verdicts. So he doesn’t want to take any chances on losing even a single prospective vote. It’s actually the continuance of a pattern. Trump did same thing just prior to the last presidential election in 2020, when he also ditched his position on anti-early and mail-in voting just a few weeks before election day.

AUGUST 4, 2020: In Desperate Reversal Trump Pleads with His Supporters to ‘Vote By Mail’

For Trump, this is a principle that relies more on convenience than faith. Because the only things that ever matter to him are what happens to be in his best interest at a specific moment in time. When that moment passes, so does his conviction. Well, except for the ones he just got in New York for paying off a porn star to steal an election, then covering it up by falsifying his business records.

Crybaby Trump Whines that ‘I Am a Political Prisoner,’ then Proves He Has No Idea What that Means

One of the most predictable personality flaws that convicted felon Donald Trump displays is his pitiful and persistent pronouncements of victimhood. For someone who is so obsessed with presenting an image of strength, he sure complains a lot about how he is so bruised and battered by his innumerable foes including those he regards as too weak to walk or “put two sentences together.”

Donald Trump Pacifier Fox

Trump’s obvious frailty makes it difficult to grasp how his glassy-eyed disciples can find anything to admire in him as a leader. But that’s the nature of a cult. The leader is seen as heroic and infallible, even when he shows himself to be cowardly and feeble. And Trump has not only shown that, he has bragged about it…

SEE THIS: Victim-in-Chief: Trump is the most Cowardly, Whining, Crybaby to Ever Be President

Last week Trump was found guilty of 34 felonies related to his “hush money” payoff to adult film actor and producer, Stormy Daniels. But rather than accept the verdict and express remorse, Trump has again chosen to embrace his victimhood. To that end he posted a comment on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, sobbing that…

“I am the political prisoner of a failing nation. But I will soon be free on November 5th. The most important day in the history of our country.”

Poor baby. Never mind that he has no comprehension of what a political prisoner is. He thinks that the term applies to someone who is completely free to go about his business, to slouch around his Mar-a-Lago home/hotel, to play golf, and to bask in the glow of his devotees at staged cult rallies. Furthermore, he has no idea what a failing nation is either, but that doesn’t stop him from denigrating America as one. What a patriot.

Curiously, Trump posted another comment just fourteen minutes later. In that post Trump not only affirmed his ignorance of political prisoners, he also made the suffering of an actual political prisoner much worse. He said that…

“Evan Gershkovich, the reporter from the Wall Street Journal who is being held by Russia, will be released almost immediately after the election, but definitely before I assume office. He will be home, he will be safe. Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, will do that for me, and I don’t believe he’ll do it for anyone else.”

This was actually a repeat of the very same noxious comment he made two weeks ago. News Corpse reported it at the time in the following article (excerpt)…

Trump Brags that He and Putin are Holding Wall Street Journal Reporter Evan Gershkovich Hostage

Gershkovich has been held captive in Russia for just over a year on trumped up charges of espionage. The Biden administration has been working continuously to secure his freedom, just as they did for WNBA star Brittney Griner and Marine veteran Trevor Reed. But this interference by Trump isn’t going to help. To the contrary, it appears to be an unlawful attempt to conduct foreign policy and endanger the lives of Americans in Russia and elsewhere abroad.

In asserting that Putin will only release Gershkovich to Trump, and only after he is reelected, what Trump is implying is that he and Putin are conspiring to hold Gershkovich hostage in exchange for helping Trump’s reelection campaign. If Trump really has the influence that he is claiming (which is doubtful), why doesn’t he just tell Putin to release Gershkovich now?

Clearly both Trump and Putin are using this situation to benefit themselves. They both want Trump back in the White House. Putin wants him there because he is a malleable and obedient servant who fulfills the interests of Russia, such as dismantling NATO and defunding Ukraine. Trump wants to be there for the power tripping he enjoys so much, and to avoid prison and the other consequences of his illegal activities.

That’s right. Trump is so scared of the fate that awaits him, that he will even exploit the suffering of an American hostage in Russia. He will sabotage efforts to secure his freedom. And he will flagrantly lie to accomplish his nefarious and self-serving goals.

So, yeah, Trump is a prisoner. But not a political one. He is a prisoner of his own derangement and fear. Unfortunately, because so many of his MAGA Republican confederates are equally afraid to think for themselves, the rest of us must suffer as well. At least until Trump (along with those he has conned) is soundly defeated and shamed for his crimes, greed, and narcissistic delusions of grandeur. Which does indeed make November 5th an important day.

Trump Threatens that His Cult Followers ‘Won’t Stand for It’ if He is Sentenced for His Crimes

Now that Donald Trump has secured his place in history as the first and only former president to have been convicted of felony crimes (34 of them), the next step in the process is the sentencing hearing on July 11, that will determine his punishment. Since this is an unprecedented affair, speculation about the sentence swings wildly from a slap-on-the-wrist probation to as much as 20 years.

Donald Trump, Prison

No one will be surprised to learn that Trump himself has floated a deliberately flagrant lie that he could be sent up the river for 187 years. And as satisfying as that sounds, actual honest estimates tend to lean toward a more lenient penalty, such as a fine or house arrest. Although prison is not off the table, which is surely driving Trump crazy(er).

SEE THIS: What’s Roasting Trump’s Nuts? Jurors Believed Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen, But Not Him

The subject of Trump’s potential sentence came up Sunday morning on Fox News. Trump sat for a typically nerf-ball interview by the “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends. After delving deeply into the tediously repetitive ramblings that Trump disgorges at his cult rallies, co-host Pete Hegseth lobbed one right across the plate, giving trump an opportunity send an ominous signal to his glassy-eyed disciples.

Hegseth asked about the possibility that “the judge could say house arrest or even jail.” Trump began his reply with a swing at some false bravado saying that, “I’m OK with it.” Yeah, right! He would be OK with being confined to Mar-a-Lago, rather than playing golf or lavishing in the glow of his devotees at staged rallies in red America. Then he elaborated…

“I’m not sure that the public would stand for it. I think it would be tough for the public to take. You know, at a certain point there’s a breaking point.”

Make no mistake. The convicted felon crime boss is talking directly to his StormTrumpers that he hopes will launch another January 6th style uprising. He would like nothing more than to see violent riots take place on his behalf. No matter what the sentence actually turns out to be. Trump is not warning about a potential “breaking point.” He’s advocating it.

Unfortunately for Trump, he will likely be sorely disappointed. He wanted there to be massive protests outside of the Manhattan courthouse throughout his trial. They never showed up, even after he explicitly begged them to. He had to be satisfied with some lily-livered members of Congress who turned out in their Red-Tie uniforms to prop up their fallen leader. That, however, doesn’t diminish the potential for harm by lone wolf extremists individually or in small groups.

The pathetic impotence of Trump’s unanswered pleas is also reflected in new polls that have been released since his conviction that show him losing significant support among independents and even his Republican base.

Now that Trump has been declared guilty, and his punishment is pending, it was interesting that in this same interview his Fox News pals asked him about the chants of “Lock her up,” that he led during his 2016 campaign against Hillary Clinton. Never mind that she had not been convicted – or even charged – with any crime. But even more interesting was Trump’s reply. He flatly denied that he ever said it. So let’s go to the tape…

That’s typical of the pathological lying that we have come to expect of Trump. And despite that glaring character flaw – and his two impeachments, and adjudication as a rapist, and phony university, and fraudulent charity, and judgment for financial fraud, and multiple bankruptcies, and blatant racism and misogyny – Trump remains the nominee of the Republican Party for president of the United States.

Which says so much about the party and the MAGA media that disseminates its propaganda. Trump and his media and congressional minions are all equally culpable for the damage that they have done and are doing to the nation. But Trump may be right about one thing, although not in the way he thinks: “The public won’t stand for it. There is a breaking point.” And hopefully that breaking point will be November 5, 2024, when Trump and MAGA are finally disposed of.

HYPOCRISY UNCHAINED! Trump Flack Whines that Biden’s Campaign is Making Trump’s Trial Political

The trial of Donald Trump in New York for his falsifying business records and campaign finance fraud (sometimes called the “Hush Money” case) is wrapping up this week with the delivery of closing arguments and the commencement of jury deliberations. Predictions of the outcome by all sides is pure speculation, but the case by the prosecutors appears to be extraordinarily strong.

As the case is entering its final phase, Trump’s team is pulling out all the stops to try to influence the court of public opinion. They have been doing that throughout the trial, led by their Dear Leader, who would hold impromptu press avails outside the court every day it was in session. And for some unknown reason the press would cover it, despite the fact that it was just a tediously repetitive rendition of what he had already posted on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social.

On Tuesday morning Trump’s campaign press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, held her own court on the courthouse steps to give the press a ludicrous account of what was going on. She was ostensibly responding to statements made earlier by President Biden’s campaign, featuring cinema icon, Robert De Niro. Leavitt said that…

“What you just heard from is a desperate and failing and pathetic campaign who knows that they are losing. Joe Biden sending his campaign outside of this criminal courthouse – it is a full-blown concession that this trial is a witch hunt that comes from the top. Comes from Joe Biden.”

Really? Does Leavitt actually believe that she can characterize the press conference by Biden’s team as evidence that the whole affair is political? She knows very well that, from the beginning, it was Trump and his cohorts who made it clear that they were going to treat the trial as a political matter. He even flew his congressional flunkies in from Washington for moral support. What could be more political than a frontline of MAGA Republicans running Trump’s defense?

Leavitt followed that up by unleashing a batch of Trump’s pre-approved insults of everyone involved in the case, including D.A. Alvin Bragg and Judge Juan Merchan. She makes the laughable assertion that “This case would have been laughed out of any other courtroom in America,” and complained about the gag order that was issued because Trump wouldn’t stop maligning and intimidating court personnel, witnesses, and jurors. She called the proceedings “a disgrace,” a “witch hunt,” and a “scam.” But then claimed that it was just making Trump more popular. If that’s true, what’s she so upset about?

Leavitt also repeated the wildly exaggerated estimates of Trump’s crowds in the Bronx and New Jersey, and lashed out at “elitist out of touch Hollywood actors like Robert De Niro.” Then added that she “could not help but laugh” at accurate descriptions of Trump as “a threat to democracy.” She argued without any rational foundation that “Joe Biden is the real threat to democracy,” and the case against Trump is “a communist show trial.”

Leavitt closed by calling Biden “weak” and “pathetic” for orchestrating “this weaponization of our justice system,” which, of course, he didn’t do. Then she launched a robo-whine about alleged Biden faults that have no basis in reality, such as…

“…his wide-open border invasion that is allowing a mass invasion of illegal people into this country, terrorists, criminals. Our economy is in shambles. We are heading toward World War III. [but that] Trump is going to win this election. And ultimately he will be vindicated of this sham crooked trial because he has the truth on his side and he is an innocent man.”

This seems like a good time for a reminder that Leavitt’s initial complaint was that the trial was being turned into something political. By Biden. Does she ever listen to herself? Or to Trump? Their entire spiel is political.

Biden, on the other hand, hasn’t said a single word about this trial, or any of Trump’s 88 pending felonies. So who is being political? It might also be useful to note that Biden’s campaign spokesperson, Michael Tyler, specifically said that he wasn’t outside the court for the trial, but because that’s where the press was. Which is a pitifully sad statement about the press, who have political obsessions of their own to contend with.

UH-OH: Trump Just Admitted He’s Guilty of Falsifying Records to Cover Up His Hush Money Payments

The trial in Manhattan where Donald Trump is charged with falsifying business records and campaign finance fraud (sometimes known as the “Hush Money” case) is nearly over. Last week attorneys for both the prosecution and the defense rested their cases. Trump himself chose not to testify, despite having promised to do so on several occasions.

Trump may have thought that his testimony wasn’t necessary because his hallway harangues outside the court were sufficient to clear him of any charges. Of course, those tantrums were never entered into the record as evidence, were littered with lies, and were not heard by the jury. They were merely cathartic and delusional distortions of reality intended to soothe Trump’s ego and assuage his seething fears.

SEE THIS: Trump and Fox News are Priming the MAGA Cult for Devastating and Dangerous Disappointment

On Friday Trump demonstrated why the decision to stay off of the witness stand was the right one. In a frantic series of posts on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, Trump lashed out trial judge Juan Merchan, prosecutor Alvin Bragg, and the American system of justice as a whole. And included in his tirade was a comment that is tantamount to a confession…

“The bookkeeping error that I am being incorrectly and unconstitutionally prosecuted for is the fact that a bookkeeper, innocently and correctly, called a ‘Legal Expense’ paid to a lawyer, a ‘Legal Expense.’ IN EVEN SIMPLER WORDS, I CALLED A LEGAL EXPENSE, A LEGAL EXPENSE. WHAT THE HELL ELSE WOULD YOU CALL IT? A BIDEN INSPIRED ELECTION INTERFERENCE HOAX!!!”

First of all, there is nothing unconstitutional about the 34 felony charges brought against Trump in this case. And secondly, Trump can’t seem to make up his mind as to whether what he first calls a “bookkeeping error” is in fact an error or was “innocently and correctly” recorded.

More to the point, Trump and attorneys argued adamantly in court that he couldn’t be held responsible for falsifying his business records because he didn’t know anything about it. He tried to blame it all on his accounting staff, despite the fact that he has previously bragged that he is a strict manager of his business affairs to the minutest details.

However, in the comment above Trump confesses in all caps that “I CALLED A LEGAL EXPENSE, A LEGAL EXPENSE.” So it wasn’t his accountants after all. It was he who deliberately mislabeled the campaign expenditures in order to buy the silence of Stormy Daniels. This is such an egregious gaffe that Trump himself sought to walk it back half an hour later in another post wherein he claimed the opposite, saying that…

“…a bookkeeper, with zero influence from or discussion with me, correctly called the payment of a Legal Expense to a lawyer – a Legal Expense.”

So which is it, Donnie? Did Trump make the erroneous bookkeeping claim himself as he said above? Or was it a nameless clerk gone rogue? For the record, evidence produced in court found that it was Trump’s CFO, Allen Weisselberg, at Trump’s direction. Weisselberg pleaded guilty to perjury, twice, related to these matters, and is currently in prison.

Just imagine how prosecutors would have handled these questions if Trump had taken the oath and sat in the witness chair. He would have fumbled his way through various contradictory assertions that would have sealed his legal fate. He knew that and, sensibly (for a change), chose to break his promise to testify. That’s his right, and the jury will be instructed not to hold it against him.

However, jurors can, and will, consider that there was no testimony refuting the evidence that Trump had a primary role in falsifying his records. Trump was the only one who could counter the testimony given by his lawyer/fixer, Michael Cohen, and others. And Trump, as usual, chickened out. So while such cowardice is not a legal finding, it is a human one. And jurors are human.
