In Flaming Fox News Fiasco Trump Proves He Has No Friggin’ Idea What To Do About Ukraine

On the morning after President Biden delivered the first State of the Union address in years that was intelligent, coherent, compassionate, and free of maniacal rage, Donald Trump staged another of his pajama-clad call-ins to Fox News from his Mar-a-Lago bedroom. This time his (my)pillow talk was with the Senior Fox News Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo on the Fox Business Network.

Donald Trump, Fox News

The Interview was filled with Trump’s typical spasms of self-exaltation and infantile insults directed at anyone who hasn’t been sufficiently worshipful. And considering the prominence of Russia’s horrendous invasion of Ukraine in the news, Bartiromo sought to give Trump an opportunity to express his “insights.” Although she never bothered to acknowledge his prior tributes to his hero, Vladimir Putin, she did ask about the conflict and the consequences for the NATO alliance.

Trump’s first thought on the subject was to lie that “There wouldn’t have been a NATO if I hadn’t been president.” Which is peculiar considering that he frequently disparaged it as “obsolete” and sought to withdraw from it. His efforts to weaken NATO were actually the fuel for Putin’s imperialistic aggression against Ukraine. But he then went even farther down the rabid hole in this exchange (video below):

Bartiromo: President Zelenskyy is being hailed as the modern Winston Churchill. I know you’ve met him. What does Zelenskyy need to do right now – and you say we’ve gone wrong on Ukraine – what is the most important move that this administration needs to be making to stop this fighting in Ukraine?
Trump: Well, I like President Zelenskyy for another reason, cause he was very honest.

Whereupon, Trump, totally ignoring the question, embarked on an extended rant, lying about Zelenskyy absolving him of any wrongdoing during the infamous “perfect” phone call. The call where Trump tried to extort Zelenskyy into fabricating dirt on then-candidate Joe Biden. The call that was the basis for Trump being impeached the first time.

The truth, contrary to Trump’s contention, is that Zelenskyy never said that Trump did nothing wrong. But he had to be careful not to upset Trump at the risk of losing U.S. military aid. You can’t ask a hostage if he’s under pressure and expect a candid answer. However, Zelenskyy did tell an interviewer at the time that he didn’t “want us to look like beggars.” Then went he on to say that “If you’re our strategic partner, then you can’t go blocking anything for us.”

Trump, however, did block military aid to Ukraine at a critical time. That’s something else that Bartiromo neglected to mention. Eventually, Bartiromo tried to steer the wildly off track Trump back to the question:

Bartiromo: But what about Joe Biden? What does Joe Biden need to do now to stop the fighting in Ukraine? You said that they’ve gone wrong. How? What should he do?
Trump: They’ve got to get them the weapons that he needs and he’s got to open up the oil.

Really? Trump’s insightful analysis of Ukraine’s dilemma as Russian forces are advancing is that Biden needs to do what he is already doing with regard to arming the Ukrainians? Thanks, Donnie. And as for his advice to “open the oil,” what does that even mean? Does he want the Russian Nord Stream 2 pipeline brought back online? And how would that “stop the fighting,” which is what Bartiromo had asked?

It is simply mind boggling how anyone can take Trump seriously as a leader in governing, or diplomacy, or even in managing a Wendy’s in Boca Raton. If he can go on Fox News and make this big an ass of himself, imagine how he would fare if he were interviewed by an actual journalist. And yet his cult following continues to revere him as their messiah.

HUH? Fox News Phony Tucker Carlson Repudiates Tucker Carlson for Rooting for Putin

Spotting lies and hypocrisy on Fox News has never been an especially difficult task. It’s actually been a regular feature of their programming from its earliest days. And nowhere is that more apparent than on the primetime airing of the “Human Manure Spreader,” Tucker Carlson. In fact, it happens with such frequency that the network argued in court (successfully) that no reasonable person would take Carlson seriously.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson

The only problem with the “reasonable person” standard is that there are so many unreasonable persons watching – and appearing on – Fox News. And this was evident on Monday night’s episode when Carlson advanced his abhorrent asininity in a twenty minute tirade that sought to erase the record of his treasonous support for Russia over Ukraine, the United States, and our international allies.

Just last week Carlson delivered a drooling televised love letter to Putin with all of the reasons he admired the brutal dictator, and why nobody should hate him. It’s a doctrine that mirrors identically that of Putin lover Donald Trump, who Carlson is also hopelessly infatuated with.

Carlson began his harangue (video below) ranting that…

“On Twitter, you see Democrats pretending that their political opponents are responsible for the invasion and somehow support it. […] In this country, virtually everyone understands that the invasion of Ukraine is bad. It’s bad for us and for the world. And Vladimir Putin is bad too. So, effectively in America, those are settled facts. We can stop debating them.”

That is a 180 degree turnaround from everything that Carlson has been babbling about for the past week. And for him to say now that “Putin is bad” suggests a measure of hypocrisy that obliterates the scale. He has literally declared that he is backing Russia in this war:

“Why do I care about what’s going on in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia? And why shouldn’t I root for Russia, because I am.”

Carlson went on to complain about Democrats justifiably criticizing Republicans who support Russia and/or Putin, saying “Isn’t war the moment for unity?” That was in the very same harangue wherein he lambasted Democrats and blamed Biden for Russia invading Ukraine. So much for unity.

Carlson also took Rep. Eric Swalwell to task for saying that…

“We have Republicans who are rooting for Russia and that makes it very hard for President Biden to get the whole country to go along when Donald Trump, Mike Pompeo and Tucker Carlson are rooting for Russians and that’s being replayed on Russia TV to rally Russians for this cause.”

Mr. Swalwell had his own succinct reply to Carlson questioning why he would say such a thing…

(full transcript here on Fox News website)

Carlson’s histrionics continued with nonsense like his claim that Democrats “were telling us that sanctions and arming the Ukrainian military would prevent a Russian invasion.” Wrong. They were hoping that such measures would prevent an invasion, but were prepared to go farther if they didn’t.

Carlson also claimed that “No one defended the riot on January 6th. We certainly didn’t.” Of course, that is blatantly untrue. Many Republicans, including (especially) Trump, defended the insurrection and praised the rioters as patriots. And Carlson himself produced a crocumentary asserting that the the whole thing was a “false flag” operation staged by the FBI, and that the rioters were victims.

So now that the country – and the world – is expressing their disgust with Russia’s unprovoked attack on Ukraine, Carlson is trying to sanitize his solidarity with the monstrous Putin regime. This might work with the dimwits who willfully believe his lies, but the majority of the American people have memories that go back farther than a week.

And then there’s this…

Tucker Carlson of Fox News Says Biden Chose Ketanji Brown Jackson to ‘Destroy’ the Supreme Court

Cementing his role as Fox News Senior White Nationalist, Tucker Carlson has delivered a nauseatingly bigoted monologue about President Biden’s nominee for the Supreme Court, Ketanji Brown Jackson. This comes just a few weeks after his frantic rant against the very notion of nominating a Black woman. While most of the nation’s credible legal analysts have acknowledged Judge Jackson’s credentials and experience, Carlson chose to malign and insult both her and the President.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Klan

On Friday’s episode of Carlson’s white-wing program, he engaged in an extended harangue against Biden’s campaign promise to nominate the first Black woman to the high court. In Carlson’s Euro-centric world, it is unthinkable to want to correct more than two hundred years of discrimination. So he lashed out at Biden for trying to “undermine” America’s institutions:

“Let’s say you really didn’t care about the country you lead. Let’s say you wanted to humiliate and degrade it and undermine its ancient institutions. What would you do? Well, you might take the single most important appointed position in the entire government and announce in public that you are filling that position on the basis of appearance. Not on the basis of skill or wisdom or fealty to the founding documents of the United States, but on the basis of the way the person looks.”

So in Carlson’s perverse view, Jackson is a nominee that would humiliate and degrade the Court. And, make no mistake, he’s basing that strictly on the way she looks. For the record, Biden did not nominate Jackson solely on the basis of appearance. He selected her because she is eminently qualified and deserving. And his choice was no more inappropriate than Ronald Reagan’s, when he promised to nominate the first woman.

Carlson doesn’t think it’s possible to find such a woman within the Black community. He thinks that doing so “would send a very clear message that you don’t like the country you run.” That’s rich coming from someone who has demonstrated his own hatred for America and love for Vladimir Putin and other American enemies. But he wasn’t finished with his hateful histrionics:

Now maybe she’s great, that’s not the point. The point is she was picked because of how she looks, so what does that tell you, not about the nominee, but about Joe Biden? It tells you that he is absolutely happy to defile a system built by other people over hundreds of years, that is the best system in the history of the world, and he is happy to destroy it. Doesn’t care at all.

So according to Carlson, Jackson would “defile” and even “destroy” the Supreme Court. But “maybe she’s great”? He went on to say that Jackson “isn’t much of a jurist. She’s not simply ignorant of the law, she is a political activist.” He complained that she could rule on a case upholding affirmative action at Harvard, asking “Do you want to live in that country? Most people don’t.”

Actually, most people do. Carlson cited part of a Fox News poll that found that 57% of voters said it’s “inappropriate” for the President to consider “only” African American women for the Court. What he left out from the same poll is that 63% supported Biden choosing a Black woman. Fox News reported on their poll saying that…

“Majorities are favorable across the board, with Democrats (91%), Black voters (81%), Hispanic voters (71%), voters under age 30 (70%) and women (65%) the most receptive.”

Notice that Fox News left out of their own reporting on their own poll that only 39% of Republicans supported the nomination of a Black woman. Gee, I wonder why Fox left out the part that illustrated how racist Republicans are? Also, on the broader question of affirmative action, a Gallup poll found that 62% of Americans support it, and noted that it was “the highest level of support recorded for such policies over the past 20 years.”

Carlson’s rancid racism was evident throughout this segment. He described his opposition to choosing a Black nominee saying that it was “because that’s Rwanda.” Really? And he had the audacity to say that “I’m not even attacking this woman personally,” moments after he said that she would defile the court and that she “isn’t much of a jurist,” and calling her “ignorant of the law.”

Carlson also complained that Judge Jackson was praised by progressives, because it inferred that she would be biased on the Court. But he never seemed to be bothered that all of the candidates that Donald Trump considered were taken from lists provided by the ultra-rightist Heritage Foundation and/or the Federalist Society. So Carlson is just as much a hypocrite as he is a racist. But then who didn’t know that already?

Fox News’ Stupid Son of a Doocy Asks Biden: Did You Underestimate ‘Worthy Adversary’ Putin?

President Joe Biden held a press conference on Thursday to inform the American people about what the administration is doing in response to Russia’s “unprovoked and unjustified” invasion of Ukraine (full video below). He revealed that the United States and it allies would immediately impose a set of severe economic sanctions to punish Putin’s brutal aggression. “Putin chose this war,” Biden said. “And now he and his country will bear the consequences.”

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Peter Doocy

Ordinarily, at times like these, the nation comes together to present a united front against such militaristic assaults on innocent and peaceful allies. However, Donald Trump’s Republican Party is already staking out a position that has been blatantly pro-Putin, as Trump has been doing himself.

So leave it to Fox News to contrive a question for Biden that frames the conflict in a decidedly warped perspective. When Biden called on Fox’s Peter Doocy, he asked the President the following question:

“Did you underestimate Putin and would you still describe him the way that you did in the summer, as a ‘worthy adversary’?”

With questions like this, can anyone fault Biden for having muttered under his breath last month that Doocy was a stupid son of a bitch? Someone needs to tell Doocy that his own question contradicts his biased premise. If Putin was described as “a worthy adversary,” then, by definition, he wasn’t underestimated. And that was the essence of Biden’s reply:

“I made it clear he was an adversary and I said that he was worthy. I didn’t underestimate him. … You heard the speech he made, almost an hour’s worth of speech as to why he was going into Ukraine. He has much larger ambitions than Ukraine. He wants to, in fact, reestablish the former Soviet Union. That is what this is about. And I think his ambitions are completely contrary to the place where the rest of the world has arrived.”

This is typical of how Doocy – and pretty much all of Fox’s openly partisan correspondents and pundits – approach questioning of Biden. There is no intention to obtain useful information or to bring understanding to their viewers. Their sole purpose is to create a negative narrative, and then to plant it into the minds of the willfully ignorant Fox audience.

That’s bad enough when it just involves conventional politics and policies. But when they use it to distort the circumstances surrounding a wartime crisis, it is irresponsible and destructive. And it can exacerbate the harm and hardships of both the American people and the victims of Putin’s aggression in Ukraine.

Unfortunately, the only thing that Fox News cares about is maligning Biden and the Democrats. And if it hurts the country and its interests, that’s just too bad. At Fox News, party and partisanship always come before country or the people.

Trump Phones Into Fox News to Offer His Idiotic, Egomaniacal Take on Putin’s Invasion of Ukraine

Russia’s most aggressively ambitious tyrant in 70 years, Vladimir Putin, has launched the attack on Ukraine that many people, including President Biden, were expecting. It is certain to result in needless hardship and human loss. And it comes at time when America’s right-wing Republican Trump cult has been shamelessly praising Putin and bitterly maligning Biden.

Donald Trump TV Set

Donald Trump himself has been engaged in non-stop America-bashing. So it should come as no surprise that, in this moment of crisis, he would emerge from his Mar-a-Lago bunker to disgorge his utterly repugnant and worthless perspective on the tragedy that has befallen Ukraine. And that emergence would be facilitated, of course, by his anti-American Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News.

While the Russian invasion was still in progress, Trump called in to Fox News chat with devoted Trump-fluffer, Laura Ingraham (video below). And in the seven and a half minutes that she sucked up to him, Trump babbled, deflected, and exalted himself. But never once offered meaningful counsel, condolences to the Ukrainian people, or condemnation of his soul mate, Vladimir Putin and Russia. Ingraham asked a total of three questions, which Trump barely paid any attention to:

Ingraham’s First Question: You’re watching this unfold. You’re reaction to Putin’s threat if any Western nation, or any nation, intervenes with this Russian military action.
Trump: Well, this is something that should have never happened. It would not have happened during my administration. In fact. some people were saying why didn’t this take place over the last four years during our administration. And it didn’t for a very good reason. And I’ll explain that to you some day. But it wouldn’t have taken place. And it wouldn’t have taken place right now. And it’s a very sad thing for the world, for the country, and it’s certainly very sad for a lot of people that are gonna be needlessly killed.

Notice that Trump completely evaded the question. His answer to Ingraham asking for his “reaction to Putin’s threat if any nation intervenes,” was “This would not have happened during my administration,” which he repeated four times like a blathering crackhead. He had no idea how to respond to Putin’s threat, so he wrapped himself in a narcissistic cocoon, fixated on his delusions that everything would have been hunky dory just by his divine presence.

And since Trump declined to explain to Ingraham why Putin wouldn’t have invaded Ukraine if he were still occupying the White House, here is the actual explanation: Putin would not have needed to invade Ukraine because Trump was giving him everything he wanted without any military actions or threats. Putin wanted assurances that Ukraine would not join NATO. He wanted to weaken the European Union. He wanted to undermine democracy in the West, particularly in the United States. He wanted to expand Russia’s territorial influence. And Trump was already allowing him to do all of that. It’s only because Trump was booted out of office and replaced by a President who stood for American values of democracy and liberty that Putin decided he would have to achieve his totalitarian goals via force.

Ingraham’s Second Question: Give us sense though, you know Vladimir Putin. You’ve dealt with him. How would you have avoided this conflict? How would you have prevented these series of events from unfolding?
Trump: Well, look, I do know him, and I know him very well. We’ve had many, many times together. And I got along with him fantastically. Despite the fact that I shut down Nord Stream 2. [Edited to remove a bunch of irrelevant nonsense about Nord Stream 2] So I think that it’s a terrible thing. The way it started, I really don’t believe he wanted to do this initially. I think he wanted to do something and negotiate. And it just got worse and worse. And then he saw the weakness. And you know it really started with the weakness in Afghanistan and the way they pulled out of Afghanistan. I really believe that’s where he started thinking he can do this.

Once again, Trump completely evaded the question. When asked directly how he “would have avoided this conflict,” Trump just boasted that he “got along fantastically” with Putin (so what?), that he shut down the Nord Stream 2 oil pipeline (which he never did), and then he rambled on incoherently about Afghanistan in order to further disparage Biden. He didn’t approach anything resembling a plan to avoid the conflict. It was just more of his robo-talking points that he’s been disgorging for months.

Ingraham’s Third Question: President Trump, I want to ask you this. We understand that President Biden is monitoring this situation at the White House now and is gonna talk to the G7 tomorrow. Tomorrow? And he’s gonna talk to the nation sometime tomorrow as well. You’re reaction to that approach?
Trump: I don’t think he’s monitoring. I think he’s probably sleeping right now. This is a terrible thing. This is something that should have never happened. I really believe that it was Afghanistan. When he looked at that horrible, weak pullout.

This time Trump kind of stayed with the question. But his answer was just to lash out with his typically childish insults about Biden. For the record, Biden was also on the phone, but with his national security team, Ukrainian President Zelensky, and representatives of NATO, the EU, and the United Nations. Meanwhile, Trump, because his attention span is so limited, reverted back to the same diversions he deployed for the previous questions: It would never have happened, and Afghanistan.

To close the interview, Trump mashed together his long held and treasonous preference for Putin over Biden, his manically obsessive “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was rigged, and his mindlessly rote attacks on inflation and immigration…

Trump: Now [Putin] sees the weakness and the incompetence and the stupidity of this administration. And as an American I’m angry about it, and I’m saddened by it. And it all happened because of a rigged election. And that includes inflation. And that includes millions of people pouring in on a monthly basis.

And with that malicious assault on America during a time of crisis, Trump signed off. He was typically antagonistic toward the country he pretends to put first. He provided no encouragement for Americans who are facing the hardships that inevitably accompany war. He was just hostile, unpatriotic, and as always, egocentric and uncaring about anyone or anything but himself. So … same as it ever was with Trump.

Tucker Carlson of Fox News Rattles Off His Ridiculous Reasons for Why You Shouldn’t Hate Putin

At a time when there is an international crisis brewing between Russia and the West over the sovereignty of Ukraine, it is particularly unsettling to witness the ongoing love affair that Donald Trump and his anti-American confederates have with Russia’s brutal dictator, Vladimir Putin. Lately Trump has been openly siding with Putin and against the U.S. even more than he usually does.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Vladimir Putin

However, no one is more smitten with Putin than Fox News Vlad lover, Tucker Carlson. Night after night, Carlson pines for his paramour Putin, who he defends fiercely and praises ceaselessly. And on Tuesday night he unleashed a nauseatingly lovesick lecture on why nobody should hate Putin. Carlson’s litany of justifications for excusing Putin’s barbarous reign exceeded even his own prior expressions of adoration. He led off by bizarrely claiming that “Democrats in Washington have told you it’s your patriotic duty to hate Vladimir Putin.” Then he launched this hideous harangue…

“It might be worth asking yourself, since it is getting pretty serious: What is this really about? Why do I hate Putin so much? Has Putin ever called me a racist? Has he threatened to get me fired for disagreeing with him? Has he shipped every middle-class job in my town to Russia? Did he manufacture a worldwide pandemic that wrecked my business and kept me indoors for two years? Is he teaching my children to embrace racial discrimination? Is he making fentanyl? Is he trying to snuff out Christianity? Does he eat dogs? These are fair questions. And the answer to all of them is ‘No.'”

First of all, nobody is pushing for anyone to “hate” Putin. But decent, freedom loving people do think Putin’s inhumane totalitarianism should be vigorously opposed. That leaves out people like Carlson and Trump, who are unnaturally drawn to domineering dictators.

More to the point, Carlson’s rant consists mostly of personal grievances. He’s saying that, since Putin has never directly offended him by calling him a racist (which he is), then he’s a stand up guy. What’s more, Carlson is implying that Democrats have committed the offenses in his tedious tirade, from sending jobs to Russia (which is Trump’s thing), to manufacturing a pandemic (that Democrats have worked to end with little help from the GOP), to teaching children to be racists (like Carlson), to eating dogs (???). None of that is remotely connected to reality.

What Carlson thinks are “fair questions” could be bounced right back to him. Hey Tucker, it might be worth asking yourself: Why do you hate Hitler so much? Or Charles Manson? Or Osama bin Laden? None of them did any of the things you just rattled off either. Does that mean they are all upstanding examples of morality and warrant your respect and support?

For the record, there are plenty of good reasons to hate Putin, if one was so disposed. He has poisoned his political opponents and had critics assassinated. He’s rigged elections and shut down media. He’s suppressed LGBTQ+ persons and minorities. He’s invaded and annexed other nations and supported overthrowing democratic governments. He’s imposed propaganda in the press and in schools. He’s made himself president for life. and then there’s that little thing about his having interfered illegally in American elections on Trump’s behalf.

For much of the rest of this segment wherein he glorified Putin, Carlson bashed American leaders at a time when they are trying to avert war. He went after President Biden, of course, He spent an inordinate amount of time maligning Vice-President Kamala Harris. He sarcastically mocked America as a “superpower” that “would never put a senile man and an imbecile in charge of the country.” And he wasn’t even talking about Trump and Pence.

Not to be left out, Trump posted a statement Wednesday morning that similarly celebrated Putin, while insulting the man that the American people elected and who, unlike Trump or Carlson, is working to keep them safe and improve their lives. “Putin is playing Biden like a drum,” Trump tweeted. “It is not a pretty thing to watch!”

Trump is perhaps the worst person on the planet to talk about being “played” by Putin. His own national security aide, Fiona Hill, said that “There’s no Team America for Trump. Not once did I see him do anything to put America first. Not once. Not for a single second.” And his communications director, Stephanie Grisham, revealed that he reassured Putin that “I’m going to act a little tougher with you for a few minutes. But it’s for the cameras, and after they leave we’ll talk.” And who could forget the infamous Helsinki Treason Summit? Maybe the real reason that Trump is upset because bending over for Putin is his thing.

Tucker Carlson of Fox News Attacks Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in a Grossly Misogynistic Diatribe

When you have already established yourself as America’s most prominent pro-COVID activist, terrorist supporting seditionist, Putin loving Russian mouthpiece, and white nationalist, where is there left to go? Well, for Fox News shill Tucker Carlson it’s straight to the muddy depths of hateful misogyny.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, STFU

On Friday’s episode Carlson’s “White Power Hour,” on Fox News, the smug frozen fish stick heir unleashed a harangue against Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) that was dripping with both rancid racism and the flagrant hatred for women that characterizes so many of his televised tirades (video below):

“The funniest of all was hearing Sandy Cortez describe herself as a [sarcasm voice] “woman of color.” She often does. No one ever bothers to challenge that description. but every honest person knows it is hilariously absurd. There is no place on Earth, outside of American colleges and newsrooms, where Sandy Cortez would be recognized as a, quote, woman of color. Because she’s not. She’s a rich, entitled, white lady. She’s a pampered, entitled, ski bunny in a matching snowsuit telling you to pull up your mask while you’re standing in the lift line at Jackson Hole. They’re all the same. It doesn’t matter what shade they are.”

So the pasty elitist, Tucker Carlson, has designated himself as the supreme arbiter of who is or is not a person of color? And in his “judgment” it can’t be a Latino woman from the Bronx of Puerto Rican descent. Instead, Carlson unloads his inbred hostility for women by belittling the Boston University graduate and member of Congress as a “ski bunny.” And what could be more reflective of racist clichés than dismissing all of “them” as being “the same”? But Carlson was just getting started. He went on to complain about an innocuous comment AOC made in a New York Magazine profile:

“The person who wrote this didn’t even perceive how creepy it was. ‘I’m alone today,’ Ocasio-Cortez says pointedly at the camera. Is it just us or does that sound like an invitation to a booty call? Maybe one step from, ‘What are you wearing?’ Otherwise a little strange. It’s definitely over-sharing.”

Apparently Carlson believes that if a woman off-handedly mentions that if there isn’t anyone presently in the room with her, that she is signaling a desire for sex. That assumption on Carlson’s part part says so much more about him than it does about AOC. It reveals his belief – or perverse craving – that women are just sexual objects waiting to be exploited by drooling dirtbags like him. But creepy Carlson’s perspective is contrary to reality. And AOC let him know in a tweeted reply:

“Any man that talks like this will treat any woman like this. Doesn’t matter if you’re Republican, Democrat, or neither, this is clearly not a safe person to leave alone w/ women. Once again, the existence of a wife or daughters doesn’t make a man good. And this one is basura.”

For the record, this isn’t the first time Carlson has uttered these offensive views. Last August Carlson disgorged a disgusting diatribe against Ocasio-Cortez that callously mocked the fear that she and her congressional colleagues experienced during the Trump-incited January 6th insurrection. Carlson’s rant on that occasion was drenched with the trivialization of rape and sexual violence that is so frequently a part of his spiel. He has also previously maligned AOC as an “idiotic windbag [who should be told] to be quiet and take a seat.” But he is just parroting his messiah, Donald Trump, who called AOC “dumb as a rock” and “a foolish child.”

Carlson’s perverted tendencies have been on display throughout most of his career. But they were never more notable than a few weeks ago when he expressed his bitter disappointment that the cartoon M&Ms over whom he apparently lusted, had undergone a makeover and were now “less sexy” and “unappealing.” There is clearly something terribly wrong with him. And his hatred for women, minorities, and democracy, are just the outward manifestations of his sickness.

Fox News Cuts Off Hillary Clinton So They Can Lie More About Spying on Trump that Never Happened

The editorial propagandists at Fox News are apparently unsatisfied with lying about President Biden’s economic successes, or whose side America should take between Ukraine and Russia, or the anti-vax Canadian trucker convoy. So they are reprising an old favorite political foil that they frequently fall back on when their other horror stories just aren’t cutting it.

Fox News, Hillary Clinton

For much of the day on Thursday, Fox News promoted a speech by Hillary Clinton at a Democratic conference in New York. They repeatedly promised to cover what the former First Lady, U.S. Senator, and Secretary of State would be saying at the event. However, when it came time to actually put Clinton on the air, Fox News played about thirty seconds of her speech before interrupting it to dump a load of bona fide bullpucky that had nothing to do with what she was saying. And by some curious coincidence, they cut her off just as she began to criticize Dear Leader Donald Trump and his Republican Apostles of Asininity:

Clinton: We must reject the ‘Big Lie’ about the 2020 election and the cover up of the insurrection on January 6th…
Martha MacCallum: Alright, Hillary Clinton hitting some familiar themes here as she gets louder at the podium there in New York City, talking about January 6th, says it was a gift to China. Talking about unity and democracy, all of that, of course, at the same time as John Durham continues the investigation into whether or not her campaign was involved in an effort to listen in to president Trump, or listen in to candidate Trump. So all of that will play out in the courtroom as that unfolds in May. But right now a lot of speculation about whether or not Hillary Clinton sees weakness in the current President. Whether or not she sees an opportunity for herself in 2024 perhaps. And is this a moment where she’s starting to put herself back on the public stage.

Notice that MacCallum (who derisively described Clinton as getting louder, even though her voice doesn’t change at all) couldn’t allow Clinton to mention Trump’s “Big Lie” about the 2020 election or the violent insurrection and coup attempt that he incited. That Foxish heresy had to be nipped in the bud. But more importantly, MacCallum blatantly lied about the “Durham Nothingburger,” a court filing containing information that was all previously reported, but that is now being misconstrued to accuse Clinton and her campaign of spying on Trump. MacCallum actually takes the lie about alleged spying farther than most of her colleagues by asserting that Clinton sought “to listen in to president Trump.”

For the record, special counsel John Durham never alleged that there was any surveillance of conversations whatsoever. His filing only addressed some tracking of publicly available Internet activity. It’s something like reporting that two phones had connected, but not having any access to anything that was said by either party. What’s more, Durham’s filing clearly states that the period of time that Internet activity was being monitored was during President Obama’s term, not Trump’s. So everything that MacCallum, and the rest of the right-wing echo chamber, have been raging about is totally bogus, as usual.

Fox’s Jesse Watters went even farther to invent a scandal that has no basis in reality. On his program Thursday he said that Durham’s documents showed that Clinton’s people not only hacked into Trump’s computers, but that they “planted evidence that he colluded with Russia. Yeah. You heard that right.” This is devolving into National Enquirer style “alien babies” idiocy.

Finally, MacCallum felt compelled to contribute some ridiculous speculation that Clinton is plotting a return to the campaign trail, adding that her supposed ambition was because she “sees weakness” in Biden. All of that is straight out of MacCallum’s warped imagination as Clinton has not done or said anything that would suggest she was considering running again, or that she was critical of Biden. However, she did have something to say about Fox News:

“They’ve been coming after me again lately, thank you. You might have noticed. It’s funny, the more trouble Trump gets into, the wilder the charges and conspiracy theories about me seem to get. So now his accountants have fired him, and investigations drop closer to him, and right on cue, the noise machine gets turned up, doesn’t it? Fox leads the charge with accusations against me, counting on their audience to fall for it again. And as an aside, they’re getting awfully close to actual malice in their attacks.”

That reference to “actual malice” is the legal standard for establishing defamation, if she were to file a lawsuit. While Clinton is unlikely to sue Fox News, she is putting them on notice that their lies are out of bounds and could place them in legal jeopardy. Sean Hannity heard this and dared her to “bring it on.” He will sorely regret it if he actually gets his wish.

Trump’s Cult of Republican Voters is Dwindling, but GOP Politicians and Press Remain Spellbound

A year after Donald Trump was evicted from the White House, there are finally some distinct signs that his cadre of glassy-eyed cult followers are tiring of his whining and lie-riddled bombast. Which isn’t surprising because it would take a cast iron gut to tolerate any more of Trump’s self-pity and victimhood.

Donald Trump Messiah

As evidence of Trump’s weakening grip on his doting deplorables, a new poll by Quinnipiac University finds that the formerly fawning flock of Republican faithful are far less infatuated with Trump today than they have been in previous surveys. When asked if they agreed more with Trump or his former VP Mike Pence about whether Pence had the power to short-circuit the certification of Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 election, an overwhelming majority (72%) of all voters chose Pence.

However, that wasn’t the worst part of the poll results from Trump’s imperial perspective. Included in the nearly three-quarters of voters rejecting Trump was a majority (52%) of Republican voters siding with Pence. Only 36% of GOPers said they agreed with Trump’s utterly unconstitutional attempt to overturn the election. And for good measure, Independents (72%) also took Pence’s side over Trump’s.

Notwithstanding Trump’s malignant narcissism, he is not nearly as beloved by others as he is by himself. He repeatedly, and hysterically, calls himself “your favorite president.” He’s either referring to Biden or Obama, or he’s talking only to Ivanka and Sean Hannity.

The Quinnipiac poll isn’t the only indicator of Trump’s softening support among the American people. A CNN poll earlier this week found that 49% of Republicans don’t want Trump to be the GOP’s 2024 presidential nominee. And a Pew Research survey last week found that 67% of the respondents – including 41% of Republicans – said that Trump “bears some or a lot of responsibility for the violence and destruction committed by some of his supporters when they broke into the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.”

Despite Trump’s rapid descent into the depths of disgrace, he continues to remain popular among his congressional GOP Party apparatchiks and the Trump-fluffing press. The most recent examples of that inbred devotion is how quickly they lined up to peddle the “Durham Nothingburger,” a fallacious legal filing that has been misconstrued to accuse Hillary Clinton and her campaign of spying on Trump.

Fox News shills are as enamored of their Dear Leader as ever. The network buried breaking stories about Trump’s longtime accounting firm disavowing him and a decade of his financial statements. They’ve spent days trying to create a domestic version of the Canadian trucker convoy in order to sabotage the American economy. They flagrantly promote Russian propaganda that conflicts with American foreign policy priorities.

The feverish zealotry with which Fox News, and the Republicans who make their home on its air, slobber over Trump is becoming more disassociated with the American people every day. While the people are withdrawing from the twice-impeached, pathologically lying, crime family boss, and former reality TV game show host, the wingnut press and the GOP elites are embracing him with ever greater fervor. That’s a story of diverging paths that can only have a catastrophic ending.

WTF? Giuliani Says He’s Stashed ‘Evidence’ Against Hillary Clinton in His Bedroom for Years

Donald Trump’s legal troubles have lately been accumulating at a rapid pace. He is currently being investigated by authorities in New York, Georgia, and Washington, D.C. And just this week there were new revelations about his mishandling (i.e. shredding and flushing) of classified documents, and his longtime accounting firm disavowing him and his financial reporting for the past ten years.

Rudy Giuliani

So this would seem like a particularly problematic time for his lawyer to be shooting off his mouth with bizarre and potentially incriminating bluster. But that’s exactly what Rudy Giuliani is doing. Giuliani was interviewed Tuesday on Newsmax where he made some awkward news. [Note: He has been banned from Fox News. Both he and Fox are being sued for spreading Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” and “stolen”]. The segment included a discussion about the recent court filing by special counsel John Durham that the Trump-fluffing conservative press has been flagrantly distorting (i.e. lying) as “proof” that Trump was spied on by Hillary Clinton:

“I don’t think Trump knew about it back then. I can’t tell you exactly how, but I know how he knew about it back then. There’s a lot more to come out. They may feel that it’s gobbledygook, but it’s gobbledygook supported by about a thousand pieces of evidence, none of which have been revealed yet. I happen to have it in my bedroom, or my den, actually. I’ve had it there for years. As well as the fraudulent elections. Both.”

Really? First of all, Giuliani’s account of what Trump knew and when is puzzling, to say the least. He didn’t know, but he knew, and Giuliani knew that he knew, but he can’t say how. Okay.

More importantly, Giuliani is confessing that he has been hoarding “a thousand pieces of evidence” (aka gobbledygook) that he claims would support the Durham Nothingburger. It’s a cornucopia of criminal discoveries that Giuliani has kept under his bed for years.

The obvious first question, that no one on Newsmax asked, ought to be “Why have you been keeping all of this secret for so long?” If Giuliani has the goods on Clinton, you would think that he would have made it all public long ago. The same goes for whatever election fraud evidence he is also claiming to have squirreled away. For some inexplicable reason he participated in sixty court cases trying to overturn the 2020 election, but never produced his bedroom files. [Not to be confused with his scene from Borat 2]

In the same Newsmax interview, Giuliani addressed his subpoena to testify before the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection. There have been reports recently suggesting that he agreed to “fully cooperate” with Committee. However, his remarks on Newsmax seem to contradict those reports:

“How can you have any confidence in this committee which, by the way, is illegal and doesn’t have a minority membership. I feel they can’t subpoena anybody? We’re watching it in retrospect and in real time. January 6th is nothing more than Russian collusion with another name and a new lie and a new set of crazy exaggerated, ‘It’s worse than September 11. It’s worse than Pearl Harbor. It’s worse than the Civil War. It’s worse than the end of the world!’ You can tell when they’re lying. They exaggerate.”

Giuliani gets a lot wrong in that brief outburst. Needless to say, the Committee is not illegal. And it does have minority members. Two of them: Liz Cheney, the Committee’s co-chair, and Adam Kinzinger. It would have more Republicans, but GOP leader Kevin McCarthy refused to appoint any. And finally, the Committee is fully authorized to issue subpoenas.

This Newsmax interview didn’t really do Giuliani – or Trump – any good. In fact, it made the need for his testimony even more critical. The Committee will surely be interested in the evidence he claims to have stashed away all these years. If he does end up cooperating, it will drive Trump into a frenzy. But if he refuses, he will find out for himself about congressional subpoenas and contempt of Congress.
