HUH? Fox News Hack and GOP Senator Say Corporations are ‘Kind of Scary’

The hypocrisy of the Republican Party is a remarkably resilient toxin that has infected the American body politic. They have abandoned any sense of reason or rationality. And if they have to contradict even their longest held “principles” (to the extent they exist) in order to sustain whatever outrage they are peddling, they’ll do it in a flash.

Fox News, Censorship

The GOP has always had an affinity for big business and the wealthy elitists who reign over it. But now they are experiencing a sea change due to events in Georgia and Texas and some other red states that are drafting and passing legislation aimed at suppressing the votes of Democrats in general, and people of color in particular.

This trend began when Georgia passed a series of suppressive bills that reduced ballot access, made voting by mail more difficult, and even criminalized giving water to voters waiting in line. Subsequently, some companies in Georgia responded to the protests of their customers by renouncing the anti-voting bills. Major League Baseball moved their All-Star Game from Atlanta to Denver. And Delta Airlines, Coca-Cola, and others let the GOP politicians in Georgia know that there would be consequences, including cutting off campaign donations.

This corporate revolt has spread as similar bills spread to other states. And now the corporate world’s best friend, the Republican Party, is shocked and appalled and ready to strike back. They have even threatened to revoke the preferential tax codes that the GOP had previously given them (Oh no, not that!). The GOP Minority Leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, has called for corporations to get out of politics. Well, except for their financial support.

On Monday, Lisa Boothe, a Fox News contributor, expressed what has become the new mantra of the GOP with regard to their Big Business ex-allies:

Really? People like Boothe never thought it was scary when corporations shoveled funds into their campaign war chests. They never thought it was scary when those corporations spoke out against fair taxation. They never thought it was scary when corporations campaigned against reproductive rights or civil rights or environmental protection or regulations that protected the safety of food, water, or workplaces. They never thought it was scary when those corporations backed their candidacies for public office. And they certainly never think it’s scary when Fox News, itself a monstrous corporation, gets entwined in politics every minute of every day.

Boothe’s tweet was followed less than an hour later by a similar posting from the GOP Senator from Missouri, and insurrection proponent, Josh Hawley. He repeated the same message about how the corporations he once loved have turned evil:

Not to be outdone, Fox News primetime host, Laura Ingraham, devoted her entire opening segment on Monday night to a monologue demanding that “conservatives have to rethink their relationship with Big Business,” because “Corporate America has gone all-in on helping Democrats secure a permanent majority.” Right, because Democrats have always been Corporate America’s favorite party. Elaborating, Ingraham disgorged the ludicrous theory that corporations are intent on “protecting liberals’ grip on power.” “Democrats,” Ingraham babbled, “know their agenda is gonna crush working class Americans. They hate it when wages go up.” Which is why Democrats are the party fighting for a higher minimum wage and an end wage disparities due to race and gender, while Republicans steadfastly oppose that.

Hawley, Boothe, Ingraham, and the rest of these ultra-rightist hypocrites have apparently forgotten how supportive they were when corporations would “get together to plan how to control legislation” that favored the corporations and the Republican political power base. They must have forgotten about the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a confederacy of corporate lobbyists and state legislators that work together to draft legislation on behalf of its corporate members.

For the record, what triggered Boothe and Hawley at this time is that a group of more than 100 top corporate leaders got together to discuss how they should respond to the Republican voter suppression movement and the GOP’s threats of reprisals. It’s a voluntary association driven by the reaction of the American people to the red state anti-voter initiatives. And contrary to Hawley’s reference to “oligarchy” it wasn’t started by the corporate titans, but by Prof. Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, a dean of the Yale School of Management.

Corporations will always have their own best interests at heart. But it is decidedly better for the world when they are pursuing those interests due to free market pressure placed on them by their customers, than by the greed that motivates their executives and shareholders. And it’s the fact that these recent events are marketplace-driven that is so objectionable to the Republican Party. They simply can’t stand it when the people decide to rule. They don’t like it when people rule by voting in record numbers. And they don’t like it when people convince corporations to behave like good corporate citizens.

Fox News Attempts (and Hysterically Fails) to Contrive a Fake Biden Scandal

Ever since the presidential election last November, Fox News has been at its wits end (admittedly not a long walk) trying to tarnish Joe Biden. They have attacked his marriage, slandered his dogs, accused him of plotting to “take down America,” and crowned him as the King of “Cancel Culture” (a role that more accurately describes Donald Trump). In the meantime, the GOP has hitched it’s wobbly wagon to America’s Biggest Loser.

Joe Biden, Donald Trump Baby, Fake News

However, despite the evidence of the untimely demise of Dr. Seuss and Mr. Potato Head (they have their priorities), Fox News has been utterly incapable of concocting any tales of impropriety that can stick to the wily Biden. Their impotent schemes just keep serving up more humiliation for Fox than for their would-be target. And an outstanding example of Fox’s failure to launch came Saturday evening in the form of a tweet by Trump’s former Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications, Dan Scavino:

Oh My! The necessity for immediate ethics investigations is rarely advocated by anyone associated with Trump. And for good reason. Trump presided over an administration that was an ethics black hole. But Scavino’s outrage was so intense that he had speak up. His tweet linked to a Fox News article that revealed the sordid circumstances surrounding a Biden website mishap:

“The White House said Thursday that a link to a page on the Biden campaign website in the WhiteHouse.gov fact sheet for the president’s $2 trillion-plus spending plan was put there in error. The link was included on the words ‘more likely’ deep in the body of the 25-page document. The line where it was included said, ‘People of color and low-income people are more likely to live in areas most vulnerable to flooding and other climate change-related weather events.’ The link was eventually taken down.”

Good Lord! The horror of this malfeasance truly needs to be explored in more detail. Fox News reported that a Republican congresswoman, Victoria Spartz, uncovered the travesty. She posted her own tweet excoriating the Biden White House and announcing her letter of disapproval dispatched to the Office of the Special Counsel:

You’ll notice that Biden’s White House Director of Digital Strategy, Rob Flaherty, responded promptly with an acknowledgement of the error and its correction. That’s something that the Trump White House never would have considered, no matter how depraved the offense.

This whole affair, however, requires a closer look. The video provided by Spartz shows that the errant link to a Biden campaign donation page was buried deeply on the White House website’s page that detailed his American Jobs Plan.” It would take a committed reader to peruse the page all the way down to the naughty link (which has, indeed, been removed).

But that’s not the end of this tawdry tale. Had anyone clicked on the link that Scavino and Spartz were so offended by, they would have been taken to a page on the old Biden campaign website that had information about his climate agenda. While that was not a donation page itself, it did have links to a page where donations could have been made. There was just one one problem. When arriving at that page there was a message that said…

“You have attempted to make a contribution to a fundraising page that has no active recipients: either the page’s owner has removed all committees or organizations from the page, or we have concluded processing contributions for these committees or organizations.”

So to recap, 1) Scavino was appalled by a Fox News story about… 2) …an irate GOP representative who… 3) …complained about an allegedly improper link that… 4) …lead to nowhere. Somebody call the Dead Link Police! Why isn’t the FBI all over this criminal conspiracy?

As an addendum to this melodrama, the Fox News article that started it all also segued into an attack on Biden’s jobs/infrastructure initiative. They wrote that…

“Biden’s spending plan, formally titled the American Jobs Plan, is being sold as an infrastructure proposal and has broad support from most Democrats in Congress, though there are some that appear reluctant to back it as one massive bill. Republicans uniformly oppose the plan and say most of it is not actually spending on infrastructure but instead designed to bolster assorted liberal priorities.”

For the record, the Biden plan (like his COVID relief/stimulus plan before it) is broadly popular among the American people, including Republicans, despite being “uniformly opposed” by the knee-jerk obstructionist GOP members of Congress.

Tucker Carlson of Fox News Fears Democrats are ‘Importing New Voters’ to ‘Replace’ Him

The flaming racism on Fox News continues to be the core of its editorial policy. It’s a theme that is repeated on multiple programs, especially during primetime with their openly bigoted hosts, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and Fox’s Senior White Nationalist, Tucker Carlson.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Klan

On Thursday night Carlson made some of the most overtly racist comments he’s ever lowered himself to utter. Which is saying something, considering the hundreds of examples that have been documented. His remarks amounted to a full-throated endorsement of the repugnant “White Replacement Theory” that is a foundational principle of the world’s worst hate-mongers. It was the stated motivation behind numerous mass shootings including those at a mall El Paso, Texas, a Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and mosques in Christchurch, NZ. Those mass murderers explicitly referenced it in their manifestos. And let’s not forget Trump’s “very fine people” in Charlottesville, Virginia who marched through the streets chanting Jews will not replace us.” Now Carlson is doing the same.

Carlson felt so strongly about promulgating this rancid rhetoric that he appeared as a guest on another program, Fox News Primetime, hosted this week by Mark Steyn. While there he delivered an explicit sermon on white replacement saying that…

“[T]he government shows preference to people who have shown absolute contempt for our customs, our laws, our system itself and they are being treated better than American citizens.”

Carlson is trying to incite the anger of his racist viewers by lying about “contemptable” immigrants receiving benefits that aren’t available to the oppressed white citizens. He continues saying that…

“Now, I know that the left and all the little gatekeepers on Twitter become literally hysterical if you use the term “replacement,” if you suggest that the Democratic Party is trying to replace the current electorate, the voters now casting ballots, with new people, more obedient voters from the Third World. But they become hysterical because that’s what’s happening actually.”

Apparently Carlson knows that the white replacement theory rhetoric is offensive, but chooses to articulate it anyway. That’s how committed he is to it. And he’s working hard to frighten his dimwitted audience. He continues saying that…

“If you change the population, you dilute the political power of the people who live there. So every time they import a new voter, I become disenfranchised as a current voter.”

Here Carlson is peddling the nauseating notion of voters being “imported” to “dilute the political power” of his white brethren. He continues saying that…

“This is a voting right question. I have less political power because they are importing a brand new electorate. Why should I sit back and take that?”

Carlson couldn’t care less about voting rights. His problem with what he calls a “brand new electorate” is that they are dark-skinned people from third-world countries. Never mind that they can’t vote, and that the process for becoming citizens, even for legal immigrants, can take more than ten years. But Fox News wants to make people believe that Democrats are recruiting illegal immigrant, drug-dealing, sex trafficking, MS-13 gang members, to come to the U.S. and be rewarded with voting privileges upon arrival.

This sick deception is exacerbated by Carlson’s opposition to “those people” voting here in the U.S., even if they are natural born citizens. There is a brand new electorate with every new generation. That’s why he supports the voter suppression bills being advanced in states like Georgia and Texas, where the LatinX population is growing faster than that of whites. Those bills are squarely aimed at people of color and, by golly, Carlson isn’t gonna sit back and take it.

This isn’t the first time Carlson has gone down the white replacement road. Just last month he ranted about Democrats allegedly “packing the electorate” with immigrants. He called it an issue that “we know for certain will change the country forever.” He frequently maligns people of color as “dirty,” and diversity as a threat to “traditional” America. And he’s doing it all with the knowledge and approval of his bosses at Fox News. And America should not sit back and take it.

UPDATE: The Anti-Defamation League has sent a letter to the Fox News CEO, Suzanne Scott, demanding that Carlson be fired. “Given his long record of race-baiting,” the letter says, “we believe it is time for Carlson to go.” It elaborates that…

“Last night, in a segment on his program dealing with voting rights and allegations of voter disenfranchisement, Tucker Carlson disgustingly gave an impassioned defense of the white supremacist “great replacement theory,” […] this is not legitimate political discourse. It is dangerous race-baiting, extreme rhetoric. And yet, unfortunately, it is the culmination of a pattern of increasingly divisive rhetoric used by Carlson over the past few years.

Despite the fact that Carlson has already lost most of his national advertisers (MyPillow is currently his top account), Fox will still probably be too scared of their white supremacist viewers to cancel Carlson. Meanwhile, The Daily Show put together a supercut of how Carlson “plagiarized” white nationalist mass shooters.

Jen Psaki Draws Lame Attack By Shamelessly Dishonest Right-Wing Media Org

The desperation of the conservative propaganda machine is blowing up. They have nothing substantive for which to criticize President Biden. They failed miserably to smear his broadly popular COVID relief and stimulus plan, that even a majority of Republicans supported. And they are suffering the same fate with Biden’s infrastructure bill and their tone-deaf efforts to make it harder to vote.

Fox News, Jen Psaki

Republicans are making an epic blunder by not only opposing such highly favored policies, but by voting unanimously against them despite the public’s overwhelming support. That is going to backfire on them badly in the upcoming 2022 election cycle.

So in place of developing policies that the American people actually like, the right is frantically trying to misrepresent the positive things that Democrats are doing. For example, the radical rightists at the Media Research Center (NewsBusters) just went after Biden’s press secretary, Jen Psaki. They tweeted a video that they claimed showed Psaki “blame[ing] the Trump administration for the crisis at the border that has happened exclusively under Joe Biden’s watch.”

PBS White House correspondent, Yamiche Alcindor: The Family Reunification Task Force is saying as of now that they haven’t reunited any families because they’re still sorting through the system. Can you talk a minute about why they haven’t been able to reunite families. What are the concerns and challengers that are even more pronounced than what you thought they were gonna be?
Psaki: Sure. First we can’t overstate how complex this challenge is. The prior administration didn’t have have a system in place to track the children and parents who were separated. They also, of course, separated them themselves. But the task force has been in place for about two months. The focus right now, at this period of time, has been about reviewing thousands of records. And a significant number of issues have come up in these existing files, including incorrect dates and names.[…] They’ve also identified 5,600 new files that were not reviewed and have begun the process for checking those files. The task force is also working closely with the ACLU to process identified families so we can reunite them as swiftly as possible. They’ll have a full report that’s due on June 2nd.

It could not be more apparent that both the question and the eloquently delivered answer were explicitly related to the abhorrent family separation policies of the Trump administration. It had nothing to do with the alleged border “crisis” that Fox News and the GOP have been trying so hard to spin into a scandal. The family separation policies were wholly devised and implemented by Trump’s team. It was never the position of Biden, or the Obama administration either.

So the News Blusters are lying with the abandon of … well … Republicans. They have to know that what was discussed in the video that they themselves posted was about a policy that was exclusively Trump’s and that Biden had nothing to do with.

This sort of gaslighting is typical of the rightist disinformation squads. They are so bereft of a positive message, or a factual, coherent, negative take on Biden, that they have to invent controversies that exist nowhere in reality. It’s the sort of intellectual vacancy that produces weeks of ludicrous reports about the “canceling” of Dr. Seuss and Mr. Potato Head. And it eventually descends to this depth of depravity from Fox News:

“White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki got snippy with a reporter on Wednesday who questioned why Vice President Kamala Harris had time to visit a Chicago bakery amid the lingering border crisis she has been tasked to deal with. The exchange between Psaki and New York Post reporter Steven Nelson came during a press briefing at the White House.”

Does this look “snippy” to you?

Revolving Bore: Former Trump Secretary of State Mike Pompeo Joins Fox News

The relationship between Fox News and the Republican Party is an incestuous mess that repeatedly violates all standards of journalistic ethics. And now the revolving door between Fox and the defunct Donald Trump administration is spinning faster than a Hunter Biden laptop lie.

Donald Trump, Fox News, White House

Fox News has just announced Trump’s former Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo has been hired as a contributor. According to the Hollywood Reporter

“Pompeo, who will make his first appearance in his new role on the channel on Friday’s Fox & Friends, will appear across Fox News and Fox Business programming.

“In a statement Thursday, Pompeo said he intends ‘to give viewers a candid, no-nonsense look at geopolitics, international relations and the America First policies that helped chart the course for unprecedented American prosperity and security.'”

It is entirely fitting that Pompeo will debut as a talking head with the “Curvy Couch” potatoes on Trump’s favorite morning show, Fox and Friends. And his statement that Trump’s policies charted “a course for unprecedented American prosperity and security,” strikes just right tone of flagrant dishonesty to launch a budding career in nakedly biased media and propaganda. If Trump’s policies were so successful he wouldn’t have been evicted form the White House by an unprecedented majority of the American people.

However, nowhere in the announcement was it acknowledged that Pompeo is actively exploring a run for president in 2024. He has already made the requisite appearances in in the first primary state of Iowa. This hire is just another example of Fox News boosting Republican politicians. At the very least, Fox is proving to be the GOP’s jobs program for failed pols with nowhere else to go. He is joining Trump castoffs…

  • Kayleigh McEnany, the former press secretary who is now a co-host of Fox’s Outnumbered.
  • Larry Kudlow, the former economic advisor who has replaced Fox’s Lou Dobbs, who was fired in connection with the billion dollar lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems.
  • Lara Trump, who, for the moment, is the wife of Eric Trump – her only qualification for the job.

Pompeo shares the distinction of being a prospective candidate with Lara Trump. She has been talking about running for the Senate in North Carolina for weeks. And another former Trump press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, has already gone from Trump’s White House to Fox News to a candidacy for governor of Arkansas.

There is no bottom to the ethical breaches by Fox News and the Republican shills they support. It is a brazenly biased confederacy of shameless dishonesty operating as a mutual benefit society for personal and political gain. Look for it to continue with other Trump/GOP fortune seekers who have been unable to find jobs anywhere else.

Fox News UnHistory: Tucker Carlson’s Lie-Riddled Mangling of the Capitol Insurrection

On any given day Fox News can be expected to air copious amounts of purposefully distorted diatribes aimed at the “radical liberals” that they imagine are invading their precious white nationalist utopia. The network’s bias emanates directly from its CEO, Lachlan Murdoch, who actually declared publicly that he considers it Fox’s mission to be the opposition to the Biden administration.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, QAnon

However, the ultra-conservatism that infects Fox News is most prominently displayed by its most dangerous purveyor of inflammatory falsehoods, Tucker Carlson. His program is a daily assault on reality that seeks to trigger the already stewing hostilities of his anger-primed audience.

On Tuesday’s episode, Carlson spent part of his tele-tantrum defending and lying about the violent and deadly January 6th Capitol riots by Donald Trump’s insurrectionists. It was a startlingly benign – and arrogantly sarcastic – rewriting of recent history to portray the riots as patriotic. And it’s part of the reason why, in a recent poll, half of Republicans said that they believe the Capitol riots were “mostly peaceful.”

Carlson correctly, albeit facetiously, referred to the riots as a “white supremacist, QAnon insurrection” (which he actually supports). What follows is an annotated transcript of Carlson’s fantastical misrepresentation of a day of domestic terrorism. He begins with an absurd retelling of events that is drenched in the sarcasm that he exudes throughout the rant (video below).

“A mob of older people from unfashionable zip codes somehow made it all the way to Washington, D.C. Probably by bus. They wandered freely through the Capitol like it was their building or something.”

Carlson is portraying the United States Congress as an open facility that can be freely overrun by armed marauders. He ignores the fact that these cretins didn’t waltz in peacefully through the entrance, but trampled barricades, battered down doors, broke windows, and assaulted police officers, to gain entry to private areas that are not open to the public.

“They didn’t have guns, but a lot of them had extremely dangerous ideas. They talked about the Constitution and something called ‘their rights.’ Some of them made openly seditious claims. They insisted, for example, that the last election was not entirely fair. And then, as you’ve been told so very often, they committed unspeakable acts of violence.”

Actually, many of the rioters were armed. They had guns, bombs, clubs, tasers, mace, and other implements of violence that they used against outnumbered police. None of them were talking about the Constitution. In fact they were violating it as they sought to prevent the Congress from certifying the election results as mandated by the Constitution.

They also were not “insisting” that “the last election was not entirely fair.” They were violently imposing their delusional beliefs that the election was “stolen,” just as their Dear Leader Trump had told them. And once again, Carlson’s downplaying of what he mockingly refers to as “unspeakable acts of violence” ignores the very real unspeakable acts of violence that resulted in injuries to more than 140 police officers, killing at least one.

“By the time thousands of soldiers arrived to restore order, an unarmed woman, an air force veteran, lay dead. To this day that woman is the one completely verified casualty of the insurrection. The only person whose death we can say definitively was caused by specific events on January 6th.”

Here Carlson is snidely maligning the National Guard troops that came to help, but only after hours of intentional delay by Trump. The woman that was killed was an active rioter who was forcibly trespassing along with a few hundred of her confederates. And as noted previously, she was not the only death definitively caused by the insurrectionists.

Carlson went on to suggest that the whole atrocity was notable only because the intended victims were Democrats. As if that makes violent rioting justifiable. He dismissed it all as “just hyperventilat[ing] about QAnon,” and portrayed the rioters amiably as “a group of sad, disenfranchised people who’ve been left out of the modern economy,” and who just wanted to be listened to – by savagely storming the seat of American democracy.

Tucker Carlson is an imminent threat to the security of this nation. He is openly advocating violence to achieve his white supremacist agenda. And while Fox News has defended itself in court against Carlson’s lies by arguing (successfully!) that, given his reputation, “no reasonable person” would believe his bullpucky, that doesn’t make him less dangerous or his goals less onerous. And Fox News is just as culpable by their continued support and promotion of his toxic ambitions.

Greg Gutfeld’s New Fox News ‘Comedy’ Show is a Bad Joke

If anyone still wonders why there isn’t very much conservative comedy, Fox News has helpfully provided an object lesson in why right-wingers just aren’t funny. Comedy requires a certain finesse and an understanding of your audience. It is a maxim of professional humorists that you cannot make fun of the under-privileged without exposing yourself as callous and cruel. In other words, you don’t punch down.

Fox News Bozo

Conservatives, however, still haven’t figured out that simple rule. And since their whole political ideology is one of fealty to the filthy rich and powerful, down is the only direction that they can punch. This wasteland of wit was perfectly illustrated in Monday’s premiere of “GUTFELD!” on Fox News (video below). Let’s set aside the unseemly blunder of programming a “comedy” on a so-called “news” network. It didn’t work for CNN’s “D.L. Hughley Show” or Fox’s doomed “Half-Hour Comedy Hour,” And from its debut, it doesn’t bode well for Greg Gutfeld either.

Gutfeld starts off with what appears to be a deliberate intention to offend. His first joke was about immigrant children in cages. He then segues to the always hilarious subject of child abuse. From that inauspicious beginning Gutfeld further embarrasses himself by making disparaging remarks about the cognitive state of seniors and the funny side of drug addiction. That’s comedy gold by conservative standards.

Continuing on a theme, Gutfeld runs a tedious video about MSNBC’s Brian Williams anchoring his program from Mars. Then he mocks Black CNN host, Don Lemon, for reporting on racism. Then he rattles off a series of lame attacks on those he considers his competition: Stephen Colbert (who Gutfeld complains doesn’t “ruffle feathers”), Jimmy Kimmel (who Gutfeld mocks for crying, a reference to episodes where Kimmel spoke eloquently and heart wrenchingly about his infant son who almost died), as well as Jimmy Fallon, Seth Myers, and Trevor Noah. That’s a move that exposes his insecurity and fear of comedians with real talent.

Gutfeld asserts that all of the late night comedians have “got the market cornered for calling Americans stupid”. The truth is, however, that they all respect the intelligence of their audience by presenting comedy that assumes they are well informed, otherwise they wouldn’t get the jokes. Gutfeld, on the other hand, is lashing out with ad hominin attacks against his foes on a network famous for lying to its viewers and that assumes they are dimwitted enough to believe their propaganda.

Well, Gutfeld they might be right about that. Fox News viewers actually believe their nonsense about cancel culture, radical Democratic socialism, and flagrant falsehoods about the severity of the COVID pandemic that are downright dangerous. They also believe everything that their cult leader, Donald Trump, says, including his recent reality-defying claim that the Capitol riots on January 6th were all “hugging and kissing” and “posed zero threat.” Except for the 140+ cops who were assaulted and injured, three of whom died. Fox’s relentless lies on that subject have resulted in half of Republicans believing those riots were “mostly peaceful.”

Gutfeld claims that he likes “bashing creeps in power,” but apparently that only applies to personal insults aimed at powerful people like … Hunter Biden? He proves that point by calling them “stupid talking piñatas.” And he asserts that “The only way they make money is by making people hate each other.” But isn’t the Fox News business model? All they do all day is divisive and insulting. And yet, Gutfeld has the nerve to talk about “respectful disagreement” during this disrespectful tirade. And in addition to these childish antics, Gutfeld went on a Mitch McConnell inspired, extended harangue triggered by the business backlash to Georgia’s voter suppression legislation. He ranted…

“Screw all corporations. You stupid execs are cowards and bad golfers. You cheat on your taxes and you cheat on each other. I hope Dems raise taxes to 99%. Except for Fox which should be tax exempt. Maybe I’m turning socialist, but after years of proclaiming corporations as engines of free markets, I realize they’re locomotives run by meth heads who’ll do anything to save their own hides. It’s profit over people no matter how many inclusion coordinators they hire.”

If it weren’t for his infantile insults, Gutfeld might have scored some points regarding the self-serving greed of corporations and their bosses. The problem is that he only realized this after those corporations responded appropriately to the concerns of consumers who objected to their voting rights being trampled in Georgia. So once again, Gutfeld was punching down on the people who had expressed themselves and successfully persuaded some powerful companies to act responsibly.

Gutfeld and his ilk repeatedly prove that all they care about are the privileged classes that generally includes themselves. They insist on demonstrating their innate hatred of average Americans. And in the process of expressing those repugnant views they think they’re being funny. The problem is that knee-jerk right-wingers like Gutfeld are too desperate to have a foothold in humor. And since they can’t grasp why their biases aren’t funny, they keep putting their foot up their own ass.

POLL: Half of Republicans are Psycho Trump Cultists Who Believe Capitol Riots Were ‘Peaceful’

On January 6, 2021, hundreds of hostile right-wing extremists invaded the United States Congress in an attempt to violently obstruct the constitutionally mandated certification of the 2020 presidential election. They were sent by their faux messiah, Donald Trump, who insisted that the election was “stolen” in a fearmongering and reckless rant, saying that “If you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.”

Donald Trump Rally, Sieg Heil

Three months later a poll conducted by Reuters/Ipsos has documented what common sense had already confirmed: That the glassy-eyed disciples of the Cult of Trump are a bastion of delusional cretins who are willingly deceived and certifiably insane:

“Since the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, former President Donald Trump and his Republican allies have pushed false and misleading accounts to downplay the event that left five dead and scores of others wounded. His supporters appear to have listened. […]”

“[A]bout half of Republicans believe the siege was largely a non-violent protest or was the handiwork of left-wing activists ‘trying to make Trump look bad,’ a new Reuters/Ipsos poll has found. Six in 10 Republicans also believe the false claim put out by Trump that November’s presidential election ‘was stolen’ from him due to widespread voter fraud.”

Seriously? Half of Republicans, who presumably saw the videos of hundreds of StormTrumpers assaulting the seat of American democracy, climbing walls, busting down doors, breaking windows, vandalizing property, chanting death threats, and physically attacking (and killing) police officers, now believe the violent insurrection was “mostly peaceful”? What kind of brain damage is present for that conclusion to even be considered in passing?

There’s a reason that so much mass hysteria could be evident in this group of Trumpian criminals. They were lied to by both Trump and a deliberately dishonest propaganda disseminator posing as a “news” network: Fox News. Virtually every mention of the attack on Fox News excused Trump and included allusions to the mythical Antifa as the “real” perpetrators of the violence. Never mind that there was no evidence of that whatsoever and, of course, there was abundant video of what actually happened. There was, however, evidence of Trump’s collusion and planning of the Capitol melee.

For his part, Trump repeatedly incited this aberrant behavior by his cult followers, telling them just prior to the attack that “The Radical Left will destroy our Country if we let them.” During the assault Trump confessed his affection for the mob saying that “We love you.” And more recently, Trump visited with Laura Ingraham of Fox News for a bit of flagrant gaslighting wherein he claimed that “Right from the start it was zero threat [and all] hugging and kissing”

See? it was a Love-In! And except for the dead, and more than a hundred injured police officers, and the destruction of property, and the defiling of a democratic institution, it was celebratory occasion that Trump’s Klan will long recall with pride.

Fortunately, the Reuters poll also found that 59% of all Americans hold trump responsible. And eight in 10 Democrats and six in 10 independents “reject the false claims that the Capitol siege was ‘mostly peaceful’ or it was staged by left-wing protestors.” Nevertheless, the psychotically delusional beliefs of the GOP and the Trumpsters is a worrisome trend. And we must remain vigilant to prevent future episodes of violence and rightist mob offensives. No doubt Trump and Fox News are already plotting them.

Fox News Mocks Life Saving CDC Coronavirus Guidelines as ‘Goofy’

For virtually all of the the past Year of COVID, Donald Trump and his Ministry of disinformation (aka Fox News) have downplayed the severity of the pandemic, guaranteeing that more people would be harmed and more families would grieve avoidable losses. And since he was evicted from the White House, the nothing has changed.

Laura Ingraham, Fox News, Goofy

There are studies that prove that watching Fox News actually increased coronavirus fatalities. And in a moment of weakness, Trump inadvertently admitted that he was the cause. That sort of arrogance and ignorance continues on a daily basis. For instance, on Friday Fox News host Laura Ingraham did a segment that will almost certainly produce more pain and suffering.

The segment began with a petty but offensive criticism of President Biden’s laudable efforts to preside over a Cabinet that “looks like America.” Most Americans consider that a worthy goal that allows every citizen to feel they are a part of this democracy. However, on Fox News it’s an aspiration that incites the mockery of the privileged white supremacist class. Here is how Ingraham and her guest, Raymond Arroyo (of the Eternal World Television Network), responded to Biden posting this tweet:

Ingraham: Biden tweeted out this picture, by golly. “A cabinet that looks like America. Masked and silent and separated.”
Arroyo: Government service should not be about externals, but about substance. Diversity is great, but what’s needed is true diversity of thought, experience. Producing a taxpayer funded Benetton ad is not necessarily reflective of diversity or America.
Ingraham: I’m just gonna come out and say it because I know everyone’s thinking it… This sitting six feet apart, is just goofy.

Everyone’s thinking it? Maybe everyone at Mar-a-Lago. But most of the nation – and more importantly, most of the world’s health experts – are surely thinking nothing of the kind. Ingraham’s reckless disparagement of the common sense CDC (Centers for Disease Control) guidelines to mitigate viral transmission are typical of the Trumpian science deniers who are personally responsible for more than half a million preventable deaths. But what else should we expect from a propagandist who also just tweeted her ludicrous allegation that “President Biden is a serial liar.”

If anything is ripe for mockery, it’s that asinine tweet. Ingraham is aghast that Biden may have uttered a few words that weren’t completely accurate. But Ingraham is going bonkers about three alleged “lies” (which are questionable according to the Washington Post). However, Ingraham has never shown any concern about the 30,000 documented lies by her messiah Donald Trump. This whole affair is almost too preposterous to waste any time on. Except that it is purposefully misleading people in way that can result in untold anguish and death. Not that Ingraham or Fox News cares.

Fox News is Refusing to Air the Chauvin Murder Trial and This Video Shows Why

Fox News continues to demonstrate that it has no aspirations to being a source of credible journalism. That would be consistent with the remarks of their CEO, Lachlan Murdoch, who recently admitted that he views the network’s role as “the opposition” to President Biden and the Democrats. And this week they are proving their dishonesty and irrelevancy by almost entirely ignoring the trial of Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer who allegedly murdered George Floyd.

Fox News, Censorship

Instead of airing the live courtroom proceedings, Fox News was running its regularly scheduled roster of propaganda programming. On “Outnumbered,” where Fox has four right-wingers gang up on one token lefty (who wasn’t even there on this show), they spent much of the hour on the pre-approved Republican Deflection of the Week, the so-called “Border Crisis.” The same was true for the following program “America Reports,” which Fox News considers to be part of their “news” side programming.

Clearly, the last thing Fox News wants is to present their carefully deceived audience with a truthful, unfiltered account of the circumstances that led to the loss of yet another Black American’s life at the hands of another white police officer. Consequently, Fox shapes their doctrine of disinformation to fit the narrow tendrils of their racist sofa spuds.

Which is why Fox News can’t air the live courtroom drama of the Chauvin murder trial. There is just too much risk that Fox’s audience might be exposed to something like this:

Prosecutor: What is your view of that use of force during that time period?
Minneapolis PD Lt. Richard Zimmerman: Totally unnecessary.
Prosecutor: What do you mean?
Zimmerman: Well first of all, pulling him down to the ground, face down, and putting your knee on the neck for that amount of time, is just uncalled for. I saw no reason why the officers felt they were in danger, if that’s what they felt. And that’s what they would have to feel to be able to use that kind of force.
Prosecutor: So in your opinion, should that restraint have stopped once he was handcuffed and prone on the ground?
Zimmerman: Absolutely!

This is the key to determining the liability of Chauvin for Floyd’s death. The officer claims that he was in fear for his life and was, therefore, performing according to his training under the circumstances. However, his superiors in his own department are contradicting that claim saying that there was no credible cause for fear of a prone, handcuffed suspect. And the method of restraint was excessive and known to be potentially fatal.

The prosecution has effectively preempted whatever justifications the defense is likely to present. And it was done live on television for everyone to witness. Everyone except for viewers of Fox News. That wasn’t an accident. Fox News doesn’t want their audience to have an honest representation of the facts when those facts are contrary to Fox’s conservative evangelism.

That’s also why Fox News hasn’t been reporting on the sex scandal engulfing GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz (Q-FL). While at the same time there is plenty of coverage of Hunter Biden and his wayward laptop. It’s why Fox News avoided coverage of the billion dollar defamation lawsuit against the network by Dominion voting Systems. It’s why Fox News downplayed the recent mass shootings in Atlanta and Boulder. But it would be safe to bet that Fox will air the defense’s case live.

Meanwhile, Fox spends copious quantities of scarce airtime on fake controversies about Dr. Seuss and Mr. Potato Head. They mock voters seeking access to the ballot box. They spread dangerous lies about the coronavirus. All because Fox News isn’t really a news network at all. It is a shameless purveyor of propaganda and right-wing conspiracy theories. And they just keep on proving it every day.
