Fox News Shill Holds Pity Party for Trump Accomplices Who ‘Just Did What the Boss Said’

Having become the first American president to be criminally indicted is apparently not a fulfilling enough historical achievement for Donald Trump. He now seems bent on also securing the record for the most felony counts. And with more than seventy so far, he’s taken what may be an insurmountable lead in that pursuit.

Fox News, Donald Trump Baby

Everyday appears to bring new and more damning evidence of the corruption and obsessive criminality of Trump. And as he recognizes the depth of his legal peril, his tantrums become ever more rancid and removed from reality. Trump is fixated on his perception of himself as victim. And despite the abundance of evidence against him, he keeps returning to his tedious whining about “witch hunts,” and “election interference.”

SEE THIS: Snowflake Trump Whines to DOJ that ‘An Indictment of Me Would Only Further Destroy Our Country’

On Thursday, special counsel Jack Smith announced a series of new charges against Trump as well as a couple of his close associates. The new charges are mainly related to Trump conspiring to cover up his prior crimes by destroying evidence, lying to law enforcement, and otherwise obstructing justice. Surprisingly, Fox News reported on these superseding indictments, and even provided an informative graphic detailing the allegations.

However, not everyone at Fox News was particularly happy about Trump’s latest legal liabilities. The “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends expressed a rare measure of empathy for the poor guys who were swept up in Trump’s treasonous plot. Co-host Ainsley Earhardt was especially concerned. In an interview with former federal prosecutor, Francey Hakes, Earhardt let her feelings be known…

“Why do you think they’re going after these people? First let’s start with Mar-a-Lago. One is the valet that turned into the property manager, worked for him for twenty years. Why are they going after these guys where their boss might have said ‘We’re not gonna hand over the video,’ or whatever, and they just did what the boss said?” […]

“I mean these guys just worked for him. You feel sorry for them. One started out as a valet and then he’s running the property twenty years later, and probably providing for his family. And now they’re trying to charge these guys so that they’ll flip on Donald Trump. And then you’ve got President Biden on the other side caught with the same thing, and where is that special counsel?”

Yeah! Why should these poor schnooks suffer just because they willingly participated in a conspiracy to obstruct justice and destroy evidence on behalf of the mob boss they’ve worked for for many years? After all, they started at the bottom of the crime syndicate and worked their way up to become trusted lieutenants to the ringleader. They were just following orders. They were just trying to provide for their families by helping to undermine democracy. Who can blame them?

Earhardt sympathetically sobs that you have to “feel sorry for them,” but she is less troubled by the fact that they broke the law, lied to authorities, and tampered with evidence. That’s the sort of behavior that is rewarded in Trump World if it’s done in furtherance of Trump’s treachery.

For his part, Trump is continuing to toss out tirades on his floundering Truth Social that he thinks will lead to his liberation. Following the new charges, Trump raged that Jack Smith and Merrick Garland (for whom he has a new nickname) should be imprisoned, saying that…

“They ought to throw Deranged Jack Smith and his Thug Prosecutors in jail, with Meritless Garland and Trump Hating Lisa Monaco. They have totally Weaponized the Department of Injustice. Whatever happened to the Crooked Joe Biden Boxes Case? […] Why has no other President ever been charged?”

Trump doesn’t bother to identify what laws any of them have violated. He just wants all of his political foes locked up because they dare to have respect for the law. As for why no other President ever been similarly charged, it’s simply because no other President has ever committed similar – and so many – crimes. And that’s a record that Trump can rest assured will prevail long into the future.

Fox and Friends Slobber Over RFK Jr and Mock Democrats for Repudiating Him as a Republican Rat

The legacy of the Kennedy family in America is renowned for producing leaders of great character and compassion. President John Kennedy and his brothers, Robert and Ted, who served in the Senate, stood for equality and fairness across lines of race and class. They were heralds of Democratic values.

Fox News

Unfortunately, every family tree has its bad apples. And in the Kennedy clan that role has come to be filled by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. For much of his political life he has been consumed by crackpot conspiracy theories and distasteful associations with ultra right-wingers who are anathema to Democratic principles. He has become the Republican Party’s favorite anti-Democratic stooge and, more recently, a planted challenger to President Biden for the Democratic nomination for president.

RELATED: The Republican Party’s Desperate Smears of President Biden are Getting Even More Pathetic

Republicans have adopted RFK Jr as one of their own. They use him as a tool to bash Biden, while falsely claiming that his criticisms are evidence of disarray in the Democratic Party. And naturally, Fox News is leading the parade of wingnuttery that is embracing and exploiting him. On Thursday morning’s episode of Fox and Friends, the “Curvy Couch” potatoes demonstrated their adoration of RFK Jr in a segment that was supposed to be about his appearance at hearing held by the Republican-led House Committee on the Weaponization of Government.

The hearing was a typically partisan mess wherein Republicans filibustered with ridiculous attacks on Biden- and even his son Hunter – that had nothing whatsoever to do with the hearing’s purported agenda. It produced no evidence of any alleged wrongdoing. To the contrary, Democrats succeeded in exposing the GOP charlatans for staging yet another political sideshow.

This is where Fox and Friends comes in to try to salvage the farce that chairman Jim Jordan tried to put over on the nation. Although they had very little to work with. So what they ended up presenting was the following slimy suck up…

Brian Kilmeade: The problem with RFK Jr, he does his homework, is extremely bright. You better bring your ‘A’ game. And also, can you believe we are at a day when the Democrats would be calling a Kennedy disparaging names? What country are we in?

As usual, Kilmeade didn’t offer a single example of anything that RFK Jr said that supported his claim that he is “extremely bright.” But in Kilmeade’s defense, there aren’t any examples. Also, the fact that Democrats are willing to criticize members of a revered Democratic family only proves that they are not the sort of cult followers that the Republican devotees of Donald Trump are. If a Democrat does or says something stupid – or steals and lies about classified documents, or sexually assaults women in department stores, or tries to overthrow the government, or is impeached and indicted multiple times – they won’t continue to worship him as their messiah.

Fox Friend Steve Doocy briefly interjected something sensible, noting that “There are Kennedy family members who disagree with him as well.” Which is true. His sister Kerry Kennedy recently said that “His statements do not represent what I believe or what Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights stand for.” And his nephew, Joe Kennedy III said that “My uncle’s comments were hurtful and wrong. I unequivocally condemn what he said.”

Doocy’s colleagues ignored those remarks, then replied with mockery that Democrats correctly describe RFK Jr as “such a Republican.” Whereupon Kilmeade makes sure to note that, despite all the evidence, “He’s not a Republican. Oh my goodness.”

For the record, RFK Jr identifies himself as Democrat. However, virtually all of his supporters reside on the farthest fringes of right-wing Republicanism. They are people like Steve Bannon, who convinced him to enter the Democratic primary. And he proudly poses for pictures with the likes of Russian asset Mike Flynn, and GOP dirty trickster Roger Stone.

That’s who RFK Jr is. You know him by the company he keeps. And Fox News is brazenly participating in the charade that he is bona fide Democrat. Because they desperately need critics who they can claim are not partisan. And because they haven’t got any legitimate complaints about Biden other than pointless and pathetic smears that don’t make any sense. In fact, some of their attacks actually make Biden look so good that he’s now using them in his own campaign ads…

Fox News Finally Recognizes ‘The Biggest Problem for Donald Trump’ and it Isn’t Ron DeSantis

For the American people, Fox News has never been a reliable chronicler of what is going on in the country or the world. Their staunchly partisan, rightist slanting of current events – or history for that matter – was designed from its inception to deceive on behalf of the conservative agenda and the Republican Party.

Donald Trump, Prison

As the 2024 presidential election cycle begins to unfold, Fox News continued its mission to advance the interests of the far right. Even after some of the most devastating blows to its already journalistically unscrupulous reputation as revealed by the Dominion Voting Systems defamation lawsuit that they recently settled for nearly a billion dollars.

RELATED: The Fox News 3/4 Billion Dollar Dominion Defamation Settlement is Also a Judgment Against Trump

For much of the past seven years, Fox News has served as Donald Trump’s Ministry of Propaganda, advancing his interests and defending him from any and all criticism. One of their most frequent methods of aiding and abetting Trump’s cultish MAGA movement has been to simply ignore any bad news. And that’s particularly true with regard to the multitude of civil and criminal cases for which he is the subject.

Which makes the remarks Wednesday morning by Fox and Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade all the more surprising:

“The biggest problem for Donald Trump might not be Ron DeSantis, might be the court cases. As you saw yesterday, he’s gotta be in court in March. Right in the middle of the primary season. As you see what happened yesterday. He’s sending his lawyers to send to a letter to Merrick Garland saying ‘I want to meet.’ Because it looks like an indictment is coming out of the Mar-a-Lago case. So his biggest threat is something that has nothing to do with this widening field.”

Indeed. Ron DeSantis is hardly a threat to Trump’s aspirations for the GOP nomination. Neither is Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, Tim Scott, or Asa Hutchinson. The MAGA cult is all in for Trump and totally uninterested in his wannabes.

However, the looming legal perils that Trump faces are becoming more treacherous for Trump by the day. Kilmeade vaguely referred to a couple of them. The one for which Trump must appear in court next March involves his indictment on 34 felonies related to hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels to buy her silence prior to the 2016 election.

More ominous for Trump is the letter Kilmeade mentioned from Trump’s lawyers to Attorney General Merrick Garland. It was Trump’s pathetic cry for mercy as he acknowledges that more indictments are imminent with regard to his theft and hoarding of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, and his incitement of the January 6th insurrection.

Trump’s lawyers pleaded with Garland for an audience so that they could whine about how “unfairly” Trump thinks he is being treated. But their letter doesn’t bother to provide any details about what such a meeting would discuss or accomplish, other than to complain and rant irrelevantly about Hunter Biden…

“We represent Donald J. Trump, the 45th President of the United States, in the investigation currently being conducted by the Special Counsel’s Office. Unlike President Biden, his son Hunter, and the Biden family, President Trump is being treated unfairly. No President of the United States has ever, in the history of our country, been baselessly investigated in such an outrageous and unlawful fashion.

“We request a meeting at your earliest convenience to discuss the ongoing injustice that is being perpetrated by your Special Counsel and his prosecutors.”

For the record, there is nothing unfair or unlawful about the special counsel probe of Trump. It is based on barrels full of incriminating evidence and testimony, much of it from Trump associates. What’s more, the only reason that no president in history has been subjected to this sort of investigation is that no other president was so transparently craven and criminally corrupt.

Garland was right to decline the meeting with Trump’s attorneys. He has maintained an ethical distance from the Trump probe, just has he has from the Biden documents probe and the recently concluded Durham Nothingburger.

RELATED: Trump (and Fox News) FREAK OUT After Durham Report Turns Out to Be Another GOP Nothingburger

The fact that Trump’s attorney’s can so casually be dispatched is proof of just how feeble Trump is in these waning days of his increasingly impotent political life. But expect him to become ever more outraged in response to his dwindling influence. Like a cornered rat he will bare his tiny teeth and squeal incessantly in the hopes of scaring off his foes and preserving whatever scraps of cheese he can.

Fox News Runs Fake Story About Veterans Being Kicked Out of Hotels to Make Room for Migrants

The discovery that Fox News aired a story that was wholly untrue and manufactured by dishonest partisans isn’t exactly a revelation. In fact, it is what they are best known for. Virtually every day there is a story on Fox News that contains only the scantest bits of reality, if even that.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Fake News

Sometimes, though, even the audacity of Fox’s routine dishonesty exceeds bounds that make it necessary to give it some extra attention. At these times Fox demonstrates that their aversion to the truth is so deliberate and despicable that it can’t be swept into their standard trash heap of untruths.

RELATED: With Lawsuits, Lost Hosts, and Lying Pundits, the Future of Fox News Has Never Been Weaker

Earlier this week the New York Post published a disturbing story about homeless veterans upstate who were allegedly kicked out of their hotel rooms to make way for migrants being bused in from Manhattan. Fox News picked up the story from the New York Post (both are owned by Rupert Murdoch), that was sourced to a local veterans advocate who claimed to have interviewed the displaced veterans. However, as reported by Mediaite

“…the hotels that veterans were supposedly booted from told Mid-Hudson News they had no idea what the advocate, YIT Foundation Executive Director Sharon Finch, was talking about.”

Subsequent to the Mid-Hudson News disclosures a Republican state assemblyman confirmed that the story was false and got the source to admit that she made it up. It was further reported that several homeless men were offered cash, food, and alcohol to go along with the deception.

In the meantime, the fictional story was spread by the likes of Donald Trump Jr. (who remarked “F**k Democrats”) and Kevin McCarthy (who called it “shameful”). Several Fox News programs amplified the fake news and, bizarrely, blamed it President Biden who, even if it were true, wouldn’t have had anything to do with the local affair.

The New York Post has since updated their story, conceding that the advocate had lied. But no such correction, retraction, or apology has been provided by Fox News.

Which is all the more galling since Fox News has been whining about the journalism awards that other news media have received for their accurate reporting on Donald Trump’s unsavory associations with Russia. This week Fox and Friends complained that the New York Times and the Washington Post have been honored for those stories that Fox says are lies.

The Fox Friends are just highlighting the fact that they and their network have never received such awards. That’s probably because they keep putting out garbage like this veterans/migrants falsehood. Their complaint about the awards was triggered by the recently released Durham Nothingburger Report. Never mind that Durham failed to find any criminal wrongdoing after four years of digging.

SEE THIS: Trump (and Fox News) FREAK OUT After Durham Report Turns Out to Be Another GOP Nothingburger

With Fox News continuing to air blatantly fabricated fictions – and refusing to retract them after finding out that they are false – they might want to refrain from complaining about other news outlets who get awards for doing truthful, principled journalism. But don’t hold your breath. They are modeling themselves after their Dear Leader Trump who who has also been yammering about those awards, demanding that they be revoked, and even suing the Pulitzer Board.

SEE THIS: Trump Sues the Pulitzer Prize Board for Honoring Accurate Stories of His Russian Collusion

UPDATE: Laura Ingraham finally acknowledged that the story was false saying, “Alright, before we go, a little update on a story we brought you this week about homeless vets being displaced from hotels so that illegals could move in. Turns out the group behind the claim made it up. We have no clue as to why anyone would do such a thing, but we’ll bring you any updates should they come.”

Of course Ingraham, who doesn’t bother to apologize, knows exactly “why anyone would do such a thing.” So that people like Don Jr., and McCarthy could get their lying talking points in and smear migrants, Biden, and progressive causes.

Fox News on Tennessee GOP Expelling Black Reps: It’s Wrong to Storm Government Buildings (?)

Republicans in the state of Tennessee have a long held pride in their prejudices and radically extreme conservatism. From their treasonous days in the Confederacy to their blind devotion to Donald Trump, they are a party that has slipped the surly bonds of reason and rational judgment in their quest for ultra-conservative supremacy.

Fox News, Guns Logo

Unfortunately for them, with their latest political pothole Republicans have only succeeded in cementing their reputation as unabashed racists and aspiring totalitarians. On Thursday the GOP-dominated Tennessee House expelled two Black representatives for allegedly breaching the “decorum” of the House when they joined with citizens protesting in support of gun safety reforms following a mass shooting in Nashville that took the lives of six people, including three children.

RELATED: Tucker Carlson of Fox News Blames Mass Shootings on – Women? (Also Drugs, Porn, Video Games)

Let’s just set aside for the moment that the Tennessee Republicans gave a White representative a pass for doing the exact same things as the Black Reps who were expelled. The GOP opposition to common sense measures aimed at reducing gun violence is starkly contrary to the positions of most Americans.

In response to the grotesque assault on democracy by the Tennessee GOP, Fox News defended them by saying that it wasn’t undemocratic at all because the expelled lawmakers could still run for reelection. That’s an argument that is devoid of any coherent logic. By expelling the two Democrats, the Republicans stole the votes of the majority of citizens who elected them. Running again doesn’t erase that. But the exchange by the co-hosts of Fox and friends got even worse…

Correspondent Alexandria Hoff: The action was not undemocratic because the representatives are still able to be voted back into office.
Brian Kilmeade: Right, they’re out for now
Ainsley Earhardt: Sending a message not to storm our government buildings, right?

WTHolyF? So Fox News is saying that the Tennessee GOP were right to expel two Black lawmakers because they were just “Sending a message not to storm our government buildings.” And with that irony is now officially deceased and buried. These are the same people who have been defending the January 6th insurrectionists for the past two years by arguing that they were merely peaceful tourists on an ordinary visit to the Capitol. They have been arguing for the exoneration and release of the rioters who were arrested and convicted of crimes ranging from criminal trespass to seditious conspiracy. And many of them pleaded guilty.

RELATED: The Wacko in Waco: Trump Lavishes Praise on Fox News and the January 6th Insurrectionists

Someone should ask Fox News if the Republicans in Congress who supported the insurrection should be expelled. We could start with Josh Hawley and Marjorie Taylor Greene. The StormTrumpers caused millions of dollars of damage to the Congress and injured more than 140 law enforcement officers. The Tennessee Three caused no damage or injuries to anything but the tender sensitivities of the bigoted Republicans.

For the record, Tennessee has the tenth most fatalities by guns in the nation (21.3 per 100k). For comparison California and New York, which have among the nation’s strictest gun laws, rank at #44 (8.5 per 100k) and #46 (5.3 per 100k), respectively. These stats include fatalities due to suicide, which should not be dismissed out of hand. However, when only murders are counted, the rankings are nearly identical.

This is the record death and tragedy that Republicans and Fox News are celebrating. And they are painfully blind to the hypocrisy of their callous justifications. Not that it matters. Republicans are only interested in keeping their audience riled up, and the donations from the NRA flowing. And Fox News is not now – and never has been – the least bit interested in honest reporting or ethical journalism. Which why they are currently being sued for billions of dollars for their lies and defamation.

Fox News Host Criticizes Democrats for Having the Audacity to Oppose … Fascism?

It’s been two weeks since President Biden delivered his historic Soul of America speech, wherein he alerted the nation to the growing threat of authoritarian forces deeply embedded in Donald Trump’s MAGA crusade. The speech addressed the stark choice that the country faces between being “a nation of hope and unity and optimism, or a nation of fear, division, and of darkness?”

Donald Trump

In the intervening weeks, Fox News has remained fiercely fixated on what they have falsely characterized as Biden’s hostility to half the nation. Never mind that Biden explicitly said that he was not referring to all Republicans, or even to all Trump supporters. The dishonest narrative that Fox News was intent on promulgating was more important than the truth.

RELATED: Biden Was Wrong to Call MAGA Republicans Merely ‘Semi’ Fascist

That same seething obsession was evident on Monday’s episode of Fox and Friends. in a response to remarks by her guest, far right radio talker Jason Rantz, co-host Harris Faulkner latched onto the fake Fox factoid that Biden had insulted the MAGA cultists saying that…

“If they’re anti-semi-fascist, which is how they see more than half the country now – because Democrats are looking up and saying ‘Look we we just want lower prices. Where’s that $1.99 gas.’ – Are they pro-Antifa?”

There is so much wrong in that sound-fright that it requires some delving into. First of all, Faulkner is still lying that Biden was referring to “half the country,” when he was clearly referring only to MAGA extremists, like the insurrectionists who stormed Congress on January 6th. And even if Biden was referring to every Republican voter, it still wouldn’t be anywhere near 50% the country. There are 350 million people in the U.S. Only 71 million voted for Trump. Which is about 21% of the country, as well as seven million fewer than voted for Biden. Granted, 21% is still way more than we should tolerate, but it’s way less than than what Faulkner and every liar on Fox News has been regurgitating.

What’s more, Faulkner is not a particularly reliable source for what “Democrats are saying.” However, her whining about gas prices appears to be stuck several weeks in the past. Gas prices have dropped for 13 weeks in a row. And the only reason it was two bucks during Trump’s term was because of the COVID-19 pandemic that he so terribly mismanaged. Does she really want to go back to those days when no one was driving or leaving the house because thousands were dying every day?

More to the point, Faulkner’s complaint that Democrats are “pro Antifa” isn’t the beat-down that she thinks it is. Setting aside the fact that there is no such Democratic entity, being anti-fascist is a broadly popular position in this country. There are many others who likewise consider themselves anti-fascist. They’re called patriotic Americans. But if Faulkner and Fox News want to brag about being pro-fascist, we might as well let them. After all, their Dear Leader Trump doesn’t even bother to disguise it anymore.

Marco Rubio Agrees that Trump Hoarded Classified Documents, But Only Cares that He Got Caught

With new and increasingly ghastly stories about how Donald Trump has betrayed America coming out every day, his servile toadies in the Republican Party and the rightist press are finding it more difficult to manufacture excuses for his rampant criminality and deceit. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t still trying.

Marco Rubio, Donald Trump

On Wednesday morning GOP Sen. Marco Rubio visited Trump’s Ministry of Disinformation – aka Fox News – to unfurl more of the unabashed BS that he is so infamous for. However, he encountered some unexpected questioning that caused his robo-apologia to malfunction. It’s a condition that has afflicted other Trump-fluffers attempting to absolve Dear Leader of any and all wrongdoing.

RELATED: Fox News Frantically Struggles to Exonerate Trump After Release of the Redacted FBI Affidavit

During his interview on Fox and Friends, Rubio was asked by co-host Steve Doocy to explain why Trump would ever have sensitive national security materials stored insecurely at his Palm Beach resort hotel/home. Rubio’s response was typical of the cringeworthy alibis emanating from the League of Devoted Trump Defenders:

Doocy: “Highly classified documents at Mar-a-Lago that only a cabinet-level officer or higher could even look at… That doesn’t seem like something you should have in your post-presidential drawer.”
Rubio: “Well, let’s break this down. First of all, we really don’t know. Let’s go back and understand that all this information is coming from one side and one place. and that is sources with knowledge of the investigation. Well, who are the sources with knowledge of the investigation? The FBI and Justice Department. And they are leaking to the media.”

Doocy was putting it mildly to suggest that such documents ought not to be kept in a desk drawer at a hotel that welcomes unvetted guests from all over the world. But Rubio couldn’t even address that relative softball. He dodged the question about the legal and ethical failures by Trump entirely, instead devoting the next two minutes to complaining about alleged leaks.

In other words, Rubio was more worried that Trump had been caught, than by the crimes he committed that put America at risk. Although Rubio did affirm the existence of classified materials at Trump’s resort. By asserting that the info came from “sources with knowledge of the investigation,” he is conceding the legitimacy of the charges against Trump that he’s whining were leaked.

What’s more, the substance of Rubio’s complaints had no basis in reality. He asserted as fact that information had been leaked by the FBI or the Justice Department for political purposes. But he has no evidence of that. There could be other sources for that information, including people who Trump might have shown the documents to, or who participated in moving them to Mar-a-Lago, or had helped him review and catalog what he stole from the White House.

This isn’t the first pitifully lame effort by Rubio to exonerate Trump. On Monday he told an NBC reporter that the whole scandalous controversy was “just a storage issue, [and] I don’t think a fight over storage of documents is worthy of what they [the FBI] have done.” Of course. Because why should anyone be concerned that Trump had illegally taken national security materials from the White House, lied about having them when asked, and even subpoenaed, and stored them where unsavory characters could access them?

RELATED: SEMI-FASCIST? Trump Wants the FBI to ‘Raid’ the House of Joe Biden – AKA the White House

Trump has been making many of the same arguments. He is outraged that the FBI took some personal items from his office at Mar-a-Lago. But he makes no attempt to explain why had more than 11,000 documents that are the property of the United States government. But in his defense, the only reason he doesn’t try to explain it is because he’s guilty, and he knows it. Other than that…

Fox News Surprisingly Grills GOP Rep Scalise About His Wacko Charges of ‘Rogue’ FBI Agents

On Monday Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago bunker was served a with search warrant by the FBI who were reportedly looking for classified documents that Trump unlawfully took from the White House and failed to disclose he still had. It is a crime that has serious implications for national security, as well as severe penalties for violators.

Fox News Friends

Ever since then, Trump’s Republican cult followers, and especially Fox News, have been throwing up all manner of preposterous defenses for Trump’s malfeasance. Much of their psychotic overreactions were drenched with accusations of wrongdoing by the FBI and threats of violence against law enforcement. They even unleashed a coordinated media attack baselessly alleging that the FBI planted evidence.

RELATED: The Trump Cult Knows He’s Guilty, So They’re All on Fox News Yammering About Planted Evidence

However, on Thursday there was an uncharacteristically sane segment on Fox and Friends wherein co-host Steve Doocy actually challenged the Republican House Minority Whip, Steve Scalise, while he was in the process of disseminating the GOP screed about the FBI operation in Palm Beach. Doocy started off by saying…

Doocy: There are a number of people, online and elsewhere, that are demonizing the FBI. And some Republicans. Paul Gosar, a Republican in your caucus from Arizona, said, “We must destroy the FBI. We must save America. I stand with Donald Trump.” Marjorie Taylor Greene said, “Defend [he meant defund] the FBI.” I’m just curious, whatever happened to the Republican Party backing the blue? And in particular, the 35 members of law enforcement at the FBI?
Scalise: We’re very strong supporters of law enforcement, and it concerns everybody to see some agents go rogue, and if you see an agency that doesn’t have the right checks and balances at the top. this is coming from the top

You may have noticed that, rather than answering Doocy’s question, Scalise invented some imaginary “concerns” that “everybody” is having about “rogue” FBI agents. And in the same breath he placed the blame, not on rogue agents, but on the people “at the top.” So Doocy pressed further…

Doocy: Who went rogue? They were following a search warrant.
Scalise: We want to find that out. That’s why we’re asking these questions. Because there were reports yesterday saying that Merrick Garland didn’t even know about this raid. I don’t if anybody believes that, but he should be asked under oath if he knew about the raid prior to it happening. He hasn’t answered that question. Why hasn’t he held a press conference? Why won’t President Biden talk about this? That is deafening right now, that silence.

Scalise is now flagrantly lying. The examples that Doocy gave of Gosar and Greene were not questions. They were overt statements advocating the destruction and/or defunding of the FBI. What’s more, there have been no reports that Attorney General Merrick Garland didn’t know about this raid. To the contrary, almost every report said that Garland, and FBI Director Chris Wray (a Trump appointee), would have almost certainly had to sign off on it.

Scalise then complains that Garland hasn’t talked about the search. But Scalise knows – or should know – that it would be improper for him to do so. The search warrant was issued under seal. And President Biden has correctly remained distanced from the Justice Department’s operations.

The only one who could have provided any additional data about this was Trump himself. He has a copy of the search warrant, and there is nothing stopping him from releasing it. Well, nothing except the likelihood that it contains something that would incriminate him.

RELATED: Eric Trump Admits on Fox News that the Trump Admin Interfered with Justice Department Business

At this point co-host Brian Kilmeade chirps in with the news that GOP Rep. Scott Perry had his cellphone seized by the FBI. And Scalise suggests that there is something untoward about the IRS getting funding to add more agents, who will only be working on high-income individuals and corporations. Both of those matters are obvious deflections that have nothing to do with the search at Mar-a-Lago. But Doocy brings the discussion back to the issue at hand saying…

Doocy: Steve, why not wait a week or so until we know more about this search warrant, then immediately rush to judgment and say, “Yeah, the FBI, they’re crazy.”
Scalise: We’re asking questions right now that no one is answering. We’re not hearing the FBI answer any of these questions. We’re not hearing Justice. And we’re sure not hearing the White House.

Once again, Scalise is not asking questions. And the people he wants to speak out are prohibited by law and ethics from doing so. But what’s truly remarkable about this exchange is that Doocy was the one introducing a rational perspective to the discussion. It would be too soon to assume that there has been any change in Fox’s editorial stance on these matters. They are, after all, the ones who have been ranting about the FBI planting evidence. But it is sufficiently peculiar to keep an eye on.

UPDATE: AG Garland held a press conference Thursday afternoon to announce that the Justice Department will make a motion to unseal parts of the search warrant, so that they can be made public. That should make Scalise happy. Or, more likely, just make him have to contrive a different set of lies to cast aspersions on the FBI, law enforcement, the President, and to absolve his messiah Trump of any wrongdoing.

Garland noted that the Department of Justice intended the search to be conducted quietly, but it was Trump who made it a public spectacle. And when the warrant is made public like Republicans and Fox News have wanted, they will learn why it’s important to be careful what you wish for. You may just get it.

Trump Fumes That Fox News has ‘Gone to the Dark Side’ and Purposely ‘Botched’ His Polling

One of the surest signs that someone has gone completely and irretrievably bonkers is when their psychoses manifest in paranoid outbursts directed at everyone, including their closest associates. And while Donald Trump was long ago recognized as being mentally unstable, his condition only seems to get worse with each passing day.

Clearly the pressure is getting Trump. Prosecutors in several jurisdictions are accumulating testimony and documentation of his seditious schemes to undermine democracy and overturn a fair election. The House Select Committing investigating the January 6th insurrection that he incited has exceeded expectations in exposing the ethical and criminal misconduct of Trump and his pitifully inept crime syndicate.

On Tuesday morning Trump took to his miserably failing social media website, TRUTH Social, to vent his spleen regarding his ever increasing legal and political peril. And in this episode he berated his longtime Ministry of Disinformation (aka Fox News) for failing to be sufficiently worshipful. Trump posted the following condemnation of his pals at Fox and Friends…

“@foxandfriends just really botched my poll numbers, no doubt on purpose. That show has been terrible – gone to the ‘dark side.’ They quickly quote the big Turning Point Poll victory of almost 60 points over the number two Republican, and then hammer with outliers. Actually, almost all polls have me leading all Republicans & Biden BY A LOT. RINO Paul Ryan, one of the weakest and worst speakers EVER, must be running the place. Anyway, thank you to Turning Point, the crowd & ‘love’ was AMAZING!”

That’s an impressive heap of hogwash, even for Trump. He can’t simply have a rational disagreement with a segment on the program that he was once featured on weekly. So he leaps straight into “dark side” damnation of his former friends. He asserts, without evidence, that they are purposefully “botching” his polling numbers.

What Trump is freaking out about is how Fox and Friends co-host Steve Doocy reported Trump’s victory in a survey of potential 2024 Republican presidential candidates conducted at the ultra-rightist Turning Point conference in Tampa, Florida. Rather than stopping there, Doocy went on to mention that there were other polls that had different results (video below):

“Keep in mind, Turning Point, a group of young Republican conservative activists from all across the country. So you have got people from all across the country convening in Tampa. I’m thinking about that is a little different than a couple of other polls that we have seen over the last couple of weeks, too. Weeks ago in Florida, Blueprint polling did a poll, [Gov. Ron] DeSantis leads the former president in all age groupings.

“Then there was a University of New Hampshire poll in June. DeSantis actually led Trump, 39 to 37. And that New York Times/Sienna College poll that we’ve cited quite a few times, less than half of Republican voters backed Donald Trump as their preferred choice.”

Well, that was all it took to set Trump off. Never mind that Doocy was uncharacteristically correct. Trump felt compelled to lie, as usual, about leading in “almost all polls” against both DeSantis and President Biden. The truth is that Trump’s standing has severely withered in recent weeks. DeSantis is strongly challenging him in the GOP primary, and Biden is beating in him general election polls.

Nevertheless, Trump may have some cause to worry. There has been a noticeable shift toward DeSantis on Fox News lately. And Fox News magnate Rupert Murdoch’s media empire has recently stepped back from Trump in significant ways. His New York Post published an editorial that concluded by saying that Trump is “unworthy to be this country’s chief executive again.” And his Wall Street Journal castigated Trump’s action and inaction during the insurrection, saying that “he fed the mob’s anger and let the riot play out.”

Trump’s descent into madness is sure to accelerate as more proof of his malicious malfeasance comes to light, and more of the rats on his vermin infested ship seek to jump overboard to save themselves. The closer Trump comes to indictments and prosecutions, the more frantically and wildly he will lash out at anyone and everyone in his warpath. For the entertainment value alone, it will be hard to find more captivating melodrama streaming on television this fall.

Fox News Bashes Boris Johnson for the Same Things Trump Did, But Still Fawn Over Trump

After a tumultuous tenure as Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has resigned the post amid myriad scandals and cabinet resignations. Donald Trump was a big fan of Johnson and his BREXIT crusade to remove the U.K. from the European Union. Now both have been ousted from office in disgrace.

That, however, is not the only thing that Trump and Johnson have in common. On Fox News the “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends inadvertently highlighted some of the other unsavory similarities between the two spurned politicians. The segment featured co-host Steve Doocy’s critical summation of Johnson’s departure. But with the changing of a few words, the criticism seems to fit Trump even better (video below). Doocy said that…

“What has happened for years is that the British people did not trust him. He would say one thing and then go do something else. And then pop up in the tabloids. And then with this thing, it’s a question of integrity. He has refused to go, even though people have been calling for him to hit the pavement for a while, because he would say look, ‘I have a mandate. I had an additional 14 million votes from voters who voted for me in 2019. So I’m gonna stick around.”

Just substitute “British” with “American” and you have a pretty good description of Trump. The American people never trusted him. He lost the popular vote (twice) and never reached even 50% approval at any time during his term. He was a frequent dweller in the tabloids due to his relentless lying, constant infantile outrage, and painfully ignorant remarks.

And of course, Trump refused to go. He still denies that he lost and desperately clings to utterly fictional claims of millions of votes that he never got. The Fox fiends continued saying that…

“Fifty-three government officials called it quits. The government of the United Kingdom and of England was in dire needs of somebody to run different cabinet positions and things like that. And so, apparently, his assistants were trying to fill the positions as quickly as people would quit. But they couldn’t. And they were people in charge of security, the courts, technology, education, finance.”

Many more people called it quits during the Trump administration. And many of those departures were for misconduct in office. Counting only the cabinet officials, in just four years, Trump had five times the turnover of President Obama who served eight years. Consequently, Trump often had “acting” heads of critical departments such as Defense, State, Justice, Labor, Transportation, Energy, Education, Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security, the CIA, and even his White House Chief of Staff. He did this to partially to avoid having get these officials confirmed by the Senate, and partially because he couldn’t find people who were remotely qualified. But that wasn’t all. Fox and Friends co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy added that…

“His problems really started with COVID. It wasn’t clear how he was going to handle COVID. Then he got COVID. He almost died. He said it was really touch and go.”

This entire segment could have served as justification for Trump to have resigned or been impeached (which he was, twice) during his occupation of the White House. But while Fox News regards these facts about Johnson to be evidence of his failure, they still fawn over Trump, whose malfeasance was much worse. At least Johnson never fomented a violent insurrection to defile democracy and overthrow the British government.
