Donald Trump’s Unbelievably Idiotic Poll Says ‘Minorities Are Lining Up Behind’ Him

It’s getting awfully difficult to keep up with the episodes of deranged lunacy that flow from Donald Trump’s noxious campaign. However, this latest example of how preposterous his attempts at promoting himself are exceeds all previous lapses of reason.

Donald Trump

In a tweet yesterday, Trump bragged about the results of a poll that blared: “Minorities Line Up Behind Donald Trump.” If you are suspicious of that assertion, congratulations. You are probably within the scope of reality-based observers of political affairs. But if you tend to give it any credence, please check yourself in to an acute psychotic care facility as soon as possible.

The poll was conducted by a disreputable pollster for a pseudo-news outfit that is still trying to find President Obama’s Kenyan birth certificate. WorldNetDaily published the “survey” with the implausible conclusion that large pluralities African-Americans and Latinos are backing Trump’s racist candidacy. The article says that…

“…a new poll, which still has Trump leading the race, shows 40 percent of blacks are lining up behind Trump, as are 45 percent of Hispanics, and even nearly 19 percent of Asians. Blacks and Hispanics, in fact, even support Trump at a higher level than whites.”

Ordinarily it would be sufficient to identify WorldNetDaily as the source of this ridiculousness to dismiss it in its entirety. But the details of this story are so laughably inane that a little further examination is warranted, if only for the entertainment value.

The poll’s internals show that the 40% of blacks that are lining up behind Trump actually consists of just four respondents. That’s right, this pollster was only able round up ten African-American Republicans to interview about the GOP primary, and just four of them indicated that they would vote for Trump. That would make the margin of error somewhere in the 90% +/- range. What’s more, the total sample size of the poll was 447, which means that the black segment accounted for about 2% of the total. The same smarmy stats carry over to the poll’s results for Latinos.

Nevertheless, Trump proudly tweeted the link to this poll with obvious excitement about the overwhelming affinity that “the blacks” (as he calls them) have for him. He apparently was not concerned about the unscrupulous reputation of the pollster or his shoddy methodology. Nor were his glassy-eyed followers who obediently liked and retweeted the nonsense poll. And of course, the right-wing crackpots at Breitbart, Gateway Pundit, RightWingNews, and other conservative fringe dwellers posted celebratory articles citing the wacko poll.

The truth, of course, is that Trump is pulling record low percentages of minority supporters. A recent Quinnipiac poll found that Trump’s support among African-Americans was in the low single digits. Furthermore, Trump’s real base of support is among America’s white supremacists. As News Corpse reported earlier this month, Trump is the runaway favorite of the KKK, but still thinks he can win 100% of the black vote:

Yesterday Politico published an in-depth article detailing the broad-based admiration for Trump among America’s white supremacists. […] These views have resulted in a surge of support from the KKK crowd. From Politico:

“The Ku Klux Klan is using Donald Trump as a talking point in its outreach efforts. Stormfront, the most prominent American white supremacist website, is upgrading its servers in part to cope with a Trump traffic spike. And former Louisiana Rep. David Duke reports that the businessman has given more Americans cover to speak out loud about white nationalism than at any time since his own political campaigns in the 1990s.”

This is the level of dementia that we are dealing with when it comes to Donald Trump. He is a man so deluded by his own pathological narcissism that he actually believes everyone loves him, even those he brutality insults. And in a hysterical attempt to maintain his vainglorious egotism, he is now latching on to what may be the most ludicrous poll of the century.

[Update:] WorldNetDaily just named Trump its “Man of the Year” for 2015. Perhaps it’s because of his valiant efforts to track down Obama’s birth certificate – which he never disclosed and won’t talk about anymore.

Media Mangler Of The Year: Serial Liar Bill O’Reilly Of Fox News

In a year when lying has become the key strategy of the front-runner for the Republican nomination for president of the United States (see the Donald Trump Bullshitopedia), it seems only appropriate that the award for the worst mangler of news reporting goes to someone whose repeated, deliberated falsehoods rivals Trump’s own record of mendacity.

Appearing nightly on Fox News, Bill O’Reilly has done more than his share to tarnish journalism. His documented dishonesty combined with his arrogant bluster makes him the runaway choice for Media Mangler Of The Year. And so, with out further ado, here is a re-post of the article that details O’Reilly’s transgressions and fabrications, for which he received no punishment from his bosses at Fox News.

Bill O’Reilly’s Cavalcade Of Lies: A Handy Collection Of The Damage – So Far

[March 2, 2015] Three weeks ago News Corpse published an article revealing that Bill O’Reilly of Fox News had been less than truthful about his alleged exploits as a “war” correspondent. Two weeks later Mother Jones Magazine did an even more thorough analysis of O’Reilly’s pathological embellishments with solid evidence of blatant dishonesty. Ever since then the flow of embarrassing revelations that expose O’Reilly as a self-aggrandizing, jet-powered ego has run non-stop.

Bill O'Reilly

ONE: The parade of falsehoods began with O’Reilly’s claim to have been “on the ground in active war zones” during the Falkland Islands war with the United Kingdom. He wasn’t. And now there is video of him reporting from Buenos Aires, Argentina that contradicts the accounts he gave afterward.

TWO: O’Reilly also claimed to have been outside the Florida home of George de Mohrenschildt where he said that he heard the shotgun blast that marked his suicide. De Mohrenschildt was an associate of Lee Harvey Oswald and was scheduled to testify at a congressional hearing on the JFK assassination. However, a recording of a contemporaneous phone call shows that O’Reilly wasn’t even in Florida when de Mohrenschildt died.

THREE: On another occasion, O’Reilly told a story about how he “saw nuns get shot in the back of the head” in El Salvador. That also was not true and O’Reilly himself admitted it in a statement that said he had actually just seen some “images of violence” but did not witness the incidents himself. Oddly, while admitting that his original assertions were false, he neither apologized nor acknowledged any wrongdoing.

FOUR: This was a similar case where O’Reilly spoke of his visit to Northern Ireland. While there he claimed to have witnessed bombings, however, when challenged Fox News issued a statement similar to the one about El Salvador that said he had merely seen pictures.

FIVE: Then there was the time that O’Reilly was covering the riots in Los Angeles sparked by the acquittal of the police officers who beat Rodney King. He claimed to have been the target of attacks by rioters, however, his associates covering the story deny that any of them were assaulted or injured. They do, however, contend that some tensions flared due to O’Reilly being an asshole.

These fabrications by the guy who pretends to be running a “No Spin Zone” are hardly the only times he has lied. There have been numerous other episodes including bragging about winning two Peabody Awards (he didn’t), and claiming to be a registered Independent (he was a Republican for several years at the time).

Some other incidents may not have been lies technically, just horribly wrong statements that he refused to correct. For instance, he once argued that there were no homeless veterans in America; as proof that his boycott of France was working he offered a report by the “Paris Business Review,” which does not exist; and he insisted, after doing extensive research, that no one on Fox ever said that people who didn’t pay ObamaCare penalties would be subject to prison. PolitiFact gave that one a “Pants on Fire.”

After NBC suspended Brian Williams for six months for a single incident of embellishing his experiences in Iraq, it seems like a fair and balanced review of O’Reilly’s behavior would net him a suspension of two or three years. Of course, Fox News does not generally hold itself to the standards of journalistic ethics to which real news enterprises adhere. Nevertheless, O’Reilly and Fox News should not be allowed to sweep these fibs under the floorboards. They must be forced to correct the record, submit to punishment, apologize to their audience as well as to those whose valor they stole, and make a good faith effort to ensure that it does not happen again.

Short of that, we must make sure that the truth is disseminated widely and continues to be raised whenever Fox or O’Reilly seek the trust of the public they are so badly abusing. If they don’t atone in some manner for their misdeeds, then news consumers must be reminded continuously that Fox News and Bill O’Reilly are charlatans that cannot be trusted to tell the truth. So keep the pressure on and let any advertisers know that you don’t appreciate them supporting unabashed liars.

Desperate Headlines: Fox Nation Skips Over Obama To Report Second Most Admired Man

You know that a news organization has completely given up on the practice of journalism when they sink to dishonest (and hilarious) levels as low as this:

Obama Clinton Most Admired

This is the actual headline of a featured article on the Fox News community website, Fox Nation: “Trump Ties With Pope Francis In U.S. Poll For Second Most-Admired Man In The World.” Now some readers might wonder what happened to the first most-admired man. But not Fox News readers. They are perfectly happy stuffing their thick craniums with incidental information that satisfies their lust for pre-chewed wingnutisms and promises to keep them blissfully ignorant.

For the rest of the world it was President Obama whom the poll found was the most-admired man in the world. This was his eighth time to be honored as such, and he achieved this ranking with more than three times the support that Trump received for his second/third place tie with the Pope.

For Fox News to report the findings of a poll by omitting the winner and announcing an also-ran in the headline is representative of their aversion to honest journalism. It is reminiscent of the 2012 presidential campaign when Fox ignored their own polls that showed Obama beating Mitt Romney, and instead reported other polls with Romney in the lead that turned out to be wrong. Indeed, Fox spent much of that campaign “unskewing” the polls to artificially produce a Romney lead.

Also buried by the Fox Nationalists was the news that Hillary Clinton was named the most-admired woman in the world for a record twentieth time. This is a particularly notable feat considering the rampant negative treatment she has gotten in the press that has been badgering her over everything from Benghazi to her email account. Certainly Fox has an incentive to suppress the fact that Clinton is widely admired as she seeks to become the next president of the United States.

The brazenly biased reporting by Fox News here exposes their pitiful desperation to shape a false narrative. It would not be dissimilar to posting a celebratory headline after the 2012 campaign that boasts “Romney Finishes Second In Presidential Election.” They could have just left out that Obama won and let their dimwitted audience dance around in utter ignorance. It’s a dance they know very well, and for which they will once again be choosing partners as the 2016 campaign unfolds. This should be fun.

Watch: Bernie Sanders Nails Clueless Media On Their Donald Trump Obsession

In an interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo, Bernie Sanders made some salient points with regard to the unprecedented amount of coverage that the media has given to Donald Trump since he announced his campaign for the GOP nomination for president.

Bernie Sanders

Cuomo set up the issue by asking Sanders about the media role in the campaign and Donald Trump’s success saying “His popularity is inarguable. How he is becoming popular is the source of a lot of argument and criticism. […] Why is it working so well for him?” That’s an odd question for Cuomo to ask Sanders, but it resulted in this exchange (video below) with Sanders placing the onus where it belongs:

Sanders: Well Chris, You’re gonna have to ask the media precisely why. Trump is a smart guy. He’s a media guy. He had a TV show. I’ll give you one example. A recent study showed on ABC evening news, Trump over a period of time got 81 minutes of time. Bernie Sanders got 20 seconds. Now you tell me why. And I think it has to do with the fact that Trump is very smart. He knows that media is not so interested in the serious issues facing this country. They love bombastic remarks. They love silly remarks […] I think this is more of an indictment of the media actually than it is of Trump.
Cuomo: I don’t see it. Do we cover him more? Yes. Why? He’s number one in the polls. He’s highly relevant. He drives the discussion.
Sanders: But Chris, explain to me how he becomes number one. He boasts of the fact…He says, ‘I don’t even have to pay for commercials. The media’s going to put me on all of the time.'”

Cuomo continues to insist that the media plays no role in Trump’s dominance of the media. Clearly that’s an unsupportable position. The press was covering every Trump event from beginning to end from the day he entered the race. They would interrupt programming to broadcast his stump speeches live. And they weren’t doing it because of his popularity. They were doing it because of his proclivity for disgorging shocking and offensive rhetoric that would drive, not the discussion, but ratings. If it were solely because he was leading in the polls, then why weren’t they doing the same thing for Hillary Clinton, who has also been leading in the polls? Or for Sanders who has been breaking fundraising records set by President Obama in 2008?

Sanders was correct in stating that Trump boasts about the media putting him on all the time. Last August Trump even made it a key point in his speech to a crowd in Alabama saying sarcastically…

“Every time I go on television it’s gotta be live. It’s live. I said ‘Oh, can I have a rest please?’ […] How come it always has to be live? Why don’t they just cover me like anybody else where they go the next day and they show little clips? Every time I speak it has to be live. It’s ridiculous, but it’s OK. Right? We have to suffer with it.”

If Trump recognizes that it’s ridiculous, why doesn’t the media? And even after he taunts them about how tightly they are wound around his fat finger, they persist in following him around like lovesick puppies, even though there is nothing in his speeches that makes them the least bit newsworthy. Trump sees it but Cuomo doesn’t? He would have to be pasting quarters to his eyes and wrapping his head with duct tape.

This exchange is emblematic of the problem that the media has assessing its own shortcomings. Sanders spells out the blatant bias, provides a specific example of it, and CNN’s anchor remains oblivious and defensive. It’s also notable that the example was for ABC News rather than Fox News where Trump’s partisan omnipresence is expected.

Cuomo never responds directly to the example Sanders gave about the 81:1 coverage ratio that was documented by the respected television analyst, the Tyndall Report. Then the discussion just drifted off into other subjects, insuring that the disparity will very likely continue for the remainder of the campaign. And the media will continue to be blind to their failures.

Serial Adulterer Donald Trump Threatens To Attack Hillary Clinton’s Family Values

Last week Donald Trump’s mouth erupted in yet another outburst of hate and misogyny. While attempting to disparage Hillary Clinton for losing to President Obama in the 2008 Democratic primary, Trump said that “she got schlonged.” He was immediately, and deservedly, repudiated by decent people from all points on the political spectrum.

Donald Trump

However, consistent with his tendency to burrow in deeper after making an ass of himself, Trump refused to concede that his language was sexist or vulgar. He insisted that the word simply meant “beaten badly,” a definition that exists nowhere in reality. This is a favorite tactic of his. A few weeks ago he insulted Carly Fiorina by pointing at her on TV and saying “Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that?” He responded to the criticism that resulted with the desperate and dishonest explanation that he was talking about her “persona.” Yeah, right.

Trump just likes to redefine words after they get him into trouble. And he doesn’t even do it very well, because everyone knows he’s lying. Since this most recent vulgarity Trump has defended his use of the word by saying that it is “often used” in politics. And he helpfully provided an example from an NPR reporter over thirty years ago. He must also have his own definition of the word “often.”

There is also the matter of Trump’s hypocrisy. In September, following a GOP debate, National Review editor and Fox News contributor Rich Lowry said that Carly Fiorina had schlonged Trump in the debate (actually he said that Fiorina cut his balls off,” but the message is the same). This shocked Trump’s tender sensitivities and he demanded an apology and called for Lowry to be taken off the air and fined by the FCC. That’s just more evidence that he can dish it out, but crybaby Trump simply can’t take it.

For her part, Clinton gave a composed but forthright response to Trump’s offensive remarks, including his surprise and disgust that she, like all other humans, occasionally visits the restroom. She said that…

“I really deplore the tone of his campaign, the inflammatory rhetoric that he is using to divide people, and his going after groups of people with hateful, incendiary rhetoric. Nothing really surprises me anymore. I don’t know that he has any boundaries at all. His bigotry, his bluster, his bullying have become his campaign. And he has to keep sort of upping the stakes and going even further.”

Not wanting to be “vagina’ed,” Trump shot back at Clinton in a couple of threatening tweets. The first warned her to “Be careful Hillary as you play the war on women or women being degraded card.” The second similarly snarled “Hillary, when you complain about ‘a penchant for sexism,’ who are you referring to. I have great respect for women. BE CAREFUL!”

Or what? Trump’s threat, as affirmed later by his campaign spokesperson, was aimed at Clinton’s relationship with her husband, Bill. Apparently Trump thinks that by recalling the infidelities of the former President, it will reflect badly on her. However, there are a few problems with that strategy. First, the public doesn’t blame Hillary for the transgressions of her husband and raising the issue is more likely to inspire sympathy than wrath. Secondly, the Clintons managed to restore and maintain their marriage during one of the most difficult periods that any marriage could suffer. That ought to be regarded as a real demonstration of family values and respect for the commitments of matrimony.

Finally, if it’s a war on family values that Trump is itching for, he may be leaving his rear flank exposed (sorry for that inadvertent visual). After all, Trump is a serial adulterer. He is on his third marriage and the public record of his cheating ways is well documented. Here is a man who has broken two marriage vows (so far) while flaunting his flings in the faces of his then-wives. Hillary Clinton, of course, has done none of that.

Trump is demonstrating that he has no friggin’ idea what constitutes women’s issues. He is reducing it to the bad behavior of an individual. However, it must be noted that Bill Clinton supports a woman’s right to choose, equal pay, prohibiting discrimination based on gender, support for victims of abuse, and family leave and child care. Those are actual women’s issues, not some guy being a horndog, and Donald Trump opposes them all – and is also a horndog.

Trump’s values are written as he goes along to allow him whatever perverted privileges he desires. And despite his recent and transparently phony piety, he holds nothing sacred. When asked directly if he had ever asked God for forgiveness, he said “Why do I have to ask for forgiveness if you’re not making mistakes?” [See The Immaculate Birther]

It’s that sort of pathological narcissism that produces Trump’s raging hate-speech. He has already viciously demeaned Latinos, African-American, Muslims, veterans, and the disabled. And through it all his blatant misogyny has never been far from the surface. As Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly noted, Trump has called women “fat pigs,” “slobs,” and “disgusting animals.” For that Kelly herself became the victim of Trump’s tweets, attacking her personally, professionally, and even calling her a “bimbo.”

In closing, if Trump really thinks that he can threaten Clinton on the basis of family values, he better be ready to respond to the numerous accounts of his carnal lust for his own daughter, Ivanka. This grotesque revelation, that he has made repeatedly and publicly, should put to rest the question of which candidate is more respectful of women and morality. So bring it on Donny. Blue Xmas: A Christmas Carol For Cynics, Skeptics, And Other Swingin’ Realists

Christmas is celebrated all over the world as a season that embodies the hopes for peace and the desires of people to share their compassion and generosity with all of humanity. It’s a beautiful concept that, unfortunately, is not carried out by all of those who purport to believe in it. And some of the most vocal vicars of faith actually do more to obstruct these principles by fomenting wars, both literal and figurative.

For instance, the radical Christianist Republicans who sow hatred and mistrust of anyone who they deem unfit to enjoy America’s gift of freedom (i.e. Syrians, Mexicans, Democrats). And, of course, the apostates at Fox News whose annual “War on Christmas” is a call to arms against the celebration of an inclusive holiday season.

Fox News Scary Christmas

So for all of those who are not huddled around a dead tree today or digging through piles of colorfully wrapped packages looking for the ones addressed to you; for the cynics who won’t accept the notion that the birth of an alleged savior is an excuse to exchange material goods or fruitcakes that nobody likes; for outcasts and rebels and nonbelievers who are puzzled by the greed and commercialism of a season that is sold as one of peace and goodwill — Here is Miles Davis and Bob Dorough performing the heartwarming traditional Christmas ballad Blue Xmas:

Merry (War On) Christmas From A World Without Rupert Murdoch

The classic film, “It’s A Wonderful Life,” has become a tradition in the holiday season. And despite the attempts by Fox News to wage a divisive and exclusionary war that pits Americans against one another for merely offering different versions of the season’s greetings, the movie’s message continues to uplift each new generation of viewers.

Wonderful Life

But the film was not always so well received. In fact, during the “Red Scare” in the late 1940’s the notorious anti-communist persecution conducted by that era’s Tea Party Congress had labeled the film as commie propaganda. A 1947 FBI memorandum alleged that

“…the film represented a rather obvious attempt to discredit bankers by casting Lionel Barrymore as a ‘scrooge-type’ so that he would be the most hated man in the picture. This, according to these sources, is a common trick used by Communists.”

It seems like satire now, but they were deadly serious (unlike Jimmy Kimmel’s Mr. Potter and the Commies of Bedford Falls). What these pathetically inept film reviewers apparently failed to notice was that the film’s hero, George Bailey, was also a banker (as head of Bailey Bros. Building and Loan) – just not a greedy, insensitive, and criminally corrupt one like the villainous Mr. Potter. And the lesson he learned in the course of the story was that he had made a difference in the lives of those he touched, and that they reciprocated in kind.

The heartwarming notion that the world would be worse off without the likes of George Bailey still makes eyes moist and brings families together in appreciation of their good fortune. However, in a re-telling of the “Wonderful Life” by comedians Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, the fate is very different for the arch-conservative media baron, Rupert Murdoch. So, in what is becoming a Christmas tradition for News Corpse, here is Fry & Laurie’s profound and hilarious production of “It’s A Soaraway Life,” which looks at what the world would be like if Rupert Murdoch had never been born.

ANNOUNCING: The Trump News Channel (Formerly Known As Fox News)

As News Corpse has been reporting for the past seven months, the media has been saturated with Donald Trump in his quest to be crowned King of America. It is a disgraceful display of journalistic malpractice that has provided a racist, neo-fascist demagogue (he doesn’t deny it) an unprecedented platform to compete for residency in what he and his followers wish was a truly “White” House. But as bad as the collective press has been, Fox News is far and away the worst of the lot.

Donald Trump News

Media Matters has been doing monthly analyses of the time distribution on Fox News for the Republican candidates. Every month has produced the same results with Trump far outpacing the rest of the field. At times Trump’s airtime on the network has exceeded ten of his rivals combined. And now, looking at the year-end summation from May to December, the dominance of Trump on Fox News is both astonishing and nauseating. Media Matters notes that…

“Trump’s 22 hours and 46 minutes of airtime was more than twice as much as any other candidate during the period studied. Trump racked up more airtime on the network than Sen. Ted Cruz, former Gov. Jeb Bush, and Sen. Marco Rubio combined.”

Calculating the frequency of Trump’s Fox News appearances reveals that he was on the network for an average of 11.5 minutes every other day for more than seven months. That comes to about 19.5% of the total time given to all sixteen of the GOP candidates. And note that this only represents the amount of time that Trump appeared on Fox. There was much more time spent talking about him, promoting him, and defending him, when he himself was not on the air.

Breaking it down by some of the top Fox programs is equally unfair and imbalanced. Of the amount of time devoted to candidates on Bill O’Reilly’s show, Trump received 37%. Likewise, he received 32% of the total candidate time on Sean Hannity’s show, 30% on Fox & Friends, and 22% on Greta Van Sustern’s show. The only other Fox primetime program is The Kelly File, where Trump appeared only 2% of the time due to his ongoing feud with Megyn Kelly. Is it any wonder that Trump is leading the Republican primary polls? How would the standings be different if Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio had received the amount of airtime that Fox gave to Trump?

Nevertheless, Trump relentlessly bitches about the allegedly unfair treatment he gets from Fox News. What more could he possibly want? And yet, despite the vastly preferential attention he gets, he is never satisfied. In September Trump declared that he had “decided that I won’t be doing any more Fox shows for the foreseeable future.” That was accompanied by retweets of his followers advocating a boycott of Fox. Like most of what Trump says, that obviously wasn’t true.

How Fox News Deceives and Controls Their Flock:

And it’s still going on. In a tweet today Trump whined that “@FoxNews treats me so badly.” That utterly delusional whimpering is typical of Crybaby Trump. I’m sure his opponents would love to be treated so badly. If Trump is so offended by Fox’s treatment of him, why doesn’t he just decline to appear on the network like he threatened to a couple of months ago? Well, because he knows that he’s lying and is feeding off of the constant attention he gets from Fox. Perhaps a better question is why does Fox continue to give Trump so much more attention when all he does is whine about it and insult their anchors and pundits? Certainly the ratings, and corresponding revenue, could have something to do with it. But no reputable news organization would subvert democracy so conspicuously for profit. And that’s the advantage that Fox News has: They don’t have to pretend that they’re reputable.

Fox News Created Donald Trump In Their Own Lying Image

This bears repeating: Fox News created Donald Trump in their own lying image. And if anyone is looking for more proof of that, the Fox Nation website provided it today.

Donald Trump

An article posted on Fox Nation bore the headline “No, Donald Isn’t Deluded.” It was referring to Trump’s assertion that he saw “thousands and thousands” of Muslims in New Jersey celebrating the fall of the World Trade Center towers on 9/11. There has never been any evidence of that happening. There are no photographs, no video, no police reports, nothing. In other words, Trump is either very much deluded, or lying through his dentures.

It is, of course, ridiculous to believe that thousands of people could assemble in a major city for any purpose and leave no trace of it ever having taken place. Nevertheless, Trump has steadfastly clung to the obvious falsehood. And he’s had help from Fox News, who has been there to defend the indefensible many times in the past. However, this new attempt is astonishing for its own brazen dishonesty.

The Fox Nationalists linked to an article from the New York Post, a sister publication that is also owned by Rupert Murdoch. The Post’s article was titled “NJ police captain says some Muslims did celebrate on 9/11.” That’s accurate, as far it goes, which isn’t very far. The Post used as its source an article published by a New Jersey news website and written by Mark Mueller of NJ Advanced Media. Nowhere in the article were Trump’s assertions affirmed. In fact, very near the beginning Mueller wrote that…

“The NJ Advance Media inquiry, encompassing more than two dozen interviews conducted since Nov. 25, found Trump’s broad assertion that thousands of people cheered to be baseless.”

That’s a pretty clear statement that the investigation had failed to uphold the ludicrous claims made by Trump and parroted by Fox News. And yet, the Post’s article cut and pasted many of the anonymous and uncorroborated accounts of relatively low-key partying by some small groups of people, but never reported the primary finding that the claims of mass celebrations were baseless.

What’s more, Mueller was interviewed on Fox News yesterday by Gretchen Carlson, who sought to churn the author’s article into a bigger story than it was. Unfortunately for her, after her first question inquiring as to what he found, Mueller doused the whole affair by saying that…

“First I can tell you what we didn’t find, which was large celebrations at multiple locations. As the reporter who wrote this story I have a great concern that this story will be used for political gain, so I wanted to set that out there right away. Donald Trump claimed that there were thousands and thousands of people celebrating in Jersey City. We have found no evidence of that whatsoever.”

So Mueller anticipated that Fox News would try to stir up a phony controversy and put it to rest before it could even be launched. Carlson soldiered on, trying to pretend that it was just as bad that a couple of dozen people might have celebrated, as if that would exonerate Trump for his gross dishonesty.

How Fox News Deceives and Controls Their Flock:
Fox Nation vs. Reality: The Fox News Cult of Ignorance.

Since Carlson knew that Mueller’s investigation had concluded that Trump’s claims were baseless before she booked the interview, she clearly intended to deceive her audience by not addressing the most salient fact in the article. Making things worse was the New York Post, who published their own article based on Mueller’s without mentioning once that it essentially proved Trump to be a liar.

And worst of all was Fox Nation who, after the publication of Mueller’s article, and the airing of Carlson’s interview, and a day’s extra time, still posted their piece declaring that Trump was not deluded. Let that sink in. They knew that the investigation found “no evidence whatsoever” that Trump was right, but they still posted an item hailing how right he was – the complete opposite of reality according to their own sources. Does that sort of oblivious, self-obsessed behavior sound familiar? Like I said at the start: Fox News created Donald Trump in their own lying image. And they shamelessly mirror each others deceit.

PolitiFact 2015 Lie Of The Year: The Campaign Misstatements Of Donald Trump

The annual “Lie of the Year” award by PolitiFact for “the most significant falsehood” of 2015 has been given to Donald Trump for his collective “misstatements” throughout his six month campaign for the Republican nomination for president.

Donald Trump Liar

This may be the easiest decision that PolitiFact ever had for their annual fib-fest. In the short time that Trump has been a candidate he has racked up an unprecedented record of flagrant fabrications. Three out of four of Trump’s statements reviewed by Politifact this year were rated “Mostly False” or worse. Indeed, 21% were “Pants on Fire” lies. Aaron Sharockman, PolitiFact’s executive editor, announced the decision in an online video saying…

“PolitiFact’s Lie of the Year goes to the most significant falsehood that we can find. But in 2015 we couldn’t settle on just one. That’s because of Donald Trump. Trump, the billionaire businessman who entered the race for persident in June, has many big and bold statements. Unfortunately, most of them are inaccurate.”

PolitiFact focused on three prominent falsehoods that Trump made, and subsequently refused to acknowledge as false despite the overwhelming evidence. They were: his delusional assertion that he saw “thousands and thousands” of Muslims in New Jersey cheering the fall of the World Trade Center towers on 9/11; his claim that the Mexican government was deliberately sending criminals to the U.S.; and his tweet that insanely stated that 81% of whites murdered in America were killed by African-Americans. The correct number is 16%. 82% of whites were killed by whites.

However, Trump’s pathological lying goes far beyond those examples. News Corpse has been compiling his unabashed dishonesty in the Trump Bullshitopedia. So far there are more than three dozen documented lies. Here are just a few samples:

  1. Trump asserts that “[The 9/11 hijackers] put their families on airplanes, couple of days before, sent them back to Saudi Arabia for the most part. Those wives knew exactly what was going to happen.” Except only one of the nineteen hijackers was married.
  2. Trump said that 100 black pastors would endorse him. Pastors say not so.
  3. Trump said he didn’t mock, or even know, the reporter whose disabilities he mocked and knew for a decade.
  4. The Obama administration wants to admit 250,000 Syrian refugees. He’s off by 240,000.
  5. He was on 60 Minutes with Vladimir Putin and “got to know him very well.” Except that they were interviewed separately thousands of miles apart.
  6. Climate change is a hoax invented by the Chinese.

Ironically, the news of Trump being designated the year’s biggest liar comes on the same day that he is laughably demanding an apology from Hillary Clinton for saying that “He is becoming ISIS’s best recruiter.” (Clinton responded “Hell no!”) It is unarguably true that the rhetoric being espoused by Trump is a recruiting aid for terrorist organizations trying to paint the U.S. as the enemy of Islam. And it isn’t just Clinton saying so. It’s also the consensus of most terrorism experts. Even Trump’s GOP colleagues agree. Sen. Lindsey Graham (the only GOP candidate with military experience) recently said that Trump’s plan for the Middle East “would the biggest recruiting opportunity in the history of ISIL.”

So congratulations, Mr. Trump, on being recognized for the bullshit artist you are and always have been. The fact that your lies are so numerous that PolitiFact couldn’t even narrow down their assessment to a single one really tells the story of your acute pathology. What’s more, anyone who continues to support you after this humiliation is essentially admitting that they don’t give a damn about the truth. But since they have already conceded that they are racists who are comfortable supporting a neo-fascist, wanna-be dictator, that should not come as a surprise.

[Update:] Trump has responded to PolitiFact’s “Lie of the Year” exactly as you might expect he would – with more lies:

Trump told ABC’s Jonathan Karl that PolitiFact is “a very dishonest group in my opinion.” And he told Fox & Friends that he’s “been proven right,” despite not being able to cite any of the alleged “proof.”
