Cassidy Hutchinson Testimony for the January 6th Committee Breaks TV Viewing Records

On Tuesday the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection that Donald Trump incited held a previously unscheduled hearing. It featured jarring testimony from Cassidy Hutchinson, a top aide to Trump’s chief of staff, Mark Meadows, who Trump incredulously claimed he hardly knew.

Hutchinson revealed that Trump was aware that weapons were present at his January 6th rally speech, and that he “didn’t f—ing care” because “they aren’t here to hurt me.” She also disclosed Trump’s seething anger that erupted into food flinging tantrums. And she told the Committee that White House lawyers were worried about criminal charges and that several members of Congress had sought pardons from Trump. These revelations and more have triggered Trump to whine about the Committee not presenting his side of the story. But that’s primarily because he has been too cowardly to show up and defend himself under oath, as all of the Republican witnesses have done.

RELATED: Crybaby Trump Slams the January 6th Committee For Nixing His Witnesses – Who Refused to Testify

Contrary to Trump’s repeated lying, the Committee’s televised hearings have been watched by millions of concerned Americans. And Hutchinson’s testimony drew even more viewers than all of the other sessions, with the exception of the first one that aired in primetime. In fact, it drew more viewers than all but the last of the NBA championship games. According to the Los Angeles Times

“Cassidy Hutchinson testimony set audience record for a daytime Jan. 6 hearing.”

“More than 13 million Americans tuned in to watch bombshell testimony from a former White House aide this week, making the Jan. 6 committee’s latest hearing its second-most-viewed thus far.

“The Tuesday afternoon hearing, which the committee announced just a day ahead of time, featured 25-year-old Cassidy Hutchinson, who served as an aide to former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. Her dramatic testimony attracted 13,231,000 viewers across all major networks, including ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC, according to numbers from Nielsen, a ratings firm. This total topped the previous four hearings, which won audiences of about 10 million to 11 million people. The first Jan. 6 hearing, on June 9, drew about 20 million viewers, but it aired in prime time.”

Notably absent from the list of networks above is Fox News. That’s because it barely contributed to the viewing totals. Fox’s audience is apparently so attached to the lies that shape their alternative reality, that they will even tune out Fox News – the source of the lies that shape their alternative reality. Then, when the frightening truth-telling is over, they stream back to watch Sean Hannity and the network’s other propaganda pushers.

RELATED: Frightened Fox News Audience Tunes Out January 6th Hearings Even When They Air on Fox

The hearings are being closely followed by a majority (58%) of Americans. And they are having a noticeable impact on public opinion. When asked in a recent poll if “misleading Americans about the outcome of an election” is a crime, a massive majority of 69% said definitely/probably “Yes,” including 59% of Republicans. The numbers were almost identical when respondents were asked whether “the Department of Justice should bring legal action against” the offending elected officials.

What’s more, the L.A. Times quoted pollster Celinda Lake saying that…

“The support for the hearings has increased over time. And what is emerging very, very strongly from the hearings is not just that [former President] Trump was responsible, but there was a faction of the Republicans, Trump Republicans, who were responsible as well. And that this was about overturning the will of the people, overturning the elections.” […and that…]

“There is an evolving narrative. People see it as a crime, but they also see it as a criminal conspiracy. They demand accountability, and they’re very serious about what they consider accountability. And we are seeing these numbers increase quite dramatically over the course of the hearings.”

As for Trump, he has been behaving in precisely the deranged manner that is expected of such an emotionally stunted man-baby. Throughout the hearings the former reality TV game show host (who is psychotically obsessed with TV ratings) has flung flagrant falsehoods about the unprecedented audience the hearings have generated. His gaslighting lies included…

It remains among the most puzzling aspects of the Trump era that he can so shamelessly foster such easily provable lies, and that there are still people so indoctrinated into his cult that they believe him.

And that’s what makes him so dangerous. What’s next? Will Trump merely continue with his grifting and the fleecing of his followers? Will he attempt to start a civil war? Will he pass out cups of “Kool-Aid” at his next rally? Unfortunately, there is no way to predict what depths Trump might sink to. Nor is there any way to calculate the bottom. After trying to violently overthrow the U.S. government, He is literally capable of anything.

Crybaby Trump Whines on Newsmax About the Increasingly Incriminating January 6th Hearings

As the hearings by the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection continue, the twice-impeached, former reality TV game show host who incited it is becoming ever more rattled and desperate. Donald Trump has been seething with rage that is fueling his latest round of lies and infantile insults.

Donald Trump WTF

Not satisfied with posting his rants on his failing TRUTH Social Twitter clone, Trump spent some quality time with the fawning sycophants at Newsmax (video below). The resulting “interview” with Trump toady Rob Finnerty was notable only for Trump’s relentless and tedious repetition of his “greatest hits” from the past, including crowd pleasers like “Russia, Russia, Russia,” the Ukraine extortion, and of course, his “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him. Trump also had his spokes-shill post the video of this interview on Twitter, after she and Trump swore never to tweet again. That lasted just three weeks.

RELATED: LOCK HIM UP: Trump’s TRUTH Social Scam is Being Criminally Investigated By a Federal Grand Jury

In the Newsmax interview, Trump eventually did get around to more current news being made by the January 6th Committee. And not surprisingly, he was fixated on Tuesday’s witness, Cassidy Hutchinson, assistant to Trump’s chief of staff, Mark Meadows. The main point that Trump sought to make was that he hardly knew the top aide to his highest ranking White House staffer. That’s an admission of a remarkable state of cognitive disengagement.

After being asked the first question, Trump rambled endlessly about the Committee that is so effectively illuminating his legal and moral malfeasance. He began by replying to a question about Hutchinson’s testimony:

“I thought it was absolutely crazy. This committee is, a lot of people say, illegally formed. But when you look at what they’re doing, and what they’re saying, and what they’re doing to their country – and now the good news is a lot of people aren’t watching, a lot of people aren’t listening to it – but they’re trying to do real harm.

First of all, the only people saying that the committee was “illegally formed” are the voices in Trump’s diseased cranium. And as for whether people are watching, Trump surely knows that the ratings have been through the roof. Well, except for Fox News where viewers were so afraid of being exposed to actual facts that they refused to tune in. But Trump’s outburst was only just beginning. He continued raging that…

“This lady yesterday [Hutchinson]. There’s something wrong with her? Is there something wrong? She said I jumped from the car and I started strangling? Think of this…I started strangling a Secret Service agent who I know very well. I grabbed the steering wheel of a car. Said that I wanted guns at my rally. I didn’t want guns. I have to speak too, and I didn’t want guns for anybody.

Taking his cue from the Trump-fluffing, right-wing media, Trump focused on a brief part of Hutchinson’s testimony that was actually her representation of what she was told by someone else. The only report of it being disputed was via an anonymous source who wasn’t there either. Virtually everything else she said was first-hand and corroborated. And in regards to his willingness to allow guns into his rally and the subsequent riots at the Capitol, Trump himself was the source. He told the crowd at his speech that he wanted the Secret Service to remove the magnetometers that scan for weapons so that his audience would be bigger.

Moving on, Trump said that Hutchinson was “living in fantasyland,” and is “social climber.” He complained that “it’s shame that this is happening to our country,” and that there weren’t any Republicans to dispute the testimony. Although he immediately acknowledge two of them: Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney. But he dismissed them because Kinzinger has announced that he isn’t running for reelection, and Cheney is “down by 35 points.” As if that has anything to do with the substance of the hearings.

What Trump didn’t mention is that it was GOP minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and the Republicans who opposed the creation of an independent, non-partisan commission to conduct the investigation. And he has no standing to complain about representation considering that he ordered his supporters (i.e. flunkies) not to cooperate with the Committee. And there is nothing stopping him from appearing before the Committee to tell his side of the story, except for his own cowardice and consciousness of guilt.

RELATED: Crybaby Trump Slams the January 6th Committee For Nixing His Witnesses – Who Refused to Testify

Trump also repeated the debunked lie that he offered 10,000 National Guard troops to protect Congress – from his supporters?. Then he segued to whining that the media didn’t report how big his crowd was and, of course, more ranting about how the election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him. For which he still hasn’t been able to provide a shred of evidence after more than a year and a half and sixty court cases.

During the interview, Trump also criticized Fox News. Finnerty specifically mentioned the moment when Bret Baier noted that Hutchinson’s testimony was “very compelling from beginning to end,” and “really, really powerful.” Trump replied saying that “Fox doesn’t put it [election fraud lies] on and, by the way, you people don’t put it on either. You’re afraid of being sued or something. [and you will] probably cut what I’m saying out.”

RELATED: Frightened Fox News Audience Tunes Out January 6th Hearings Even When They Air on Fox

Actually, Newsmax has already been sued, along with Fox News and others, for defamation by two voting systems companies: Dominion and Smartmatic. The only thing puzzling about this is why Trump isn’t a defendant in those lawsuits. However, Finnerty assured Trump that his lies would be included when the interview aired, along with his attack on Fox News.

It is obviously in the interest of Newsmax to disparage Fox, the network that Newsmax host Greg Kelly recently called “fake news.” Which is a deliciously ironic turn of events. As is Trump accusing Newsmax to its face of planning to alter the interview. It just affirms that Trump is solely obsessed with how he is presented, even when he’s whining on friendly forums like Newsmax.

Frightened Fox News Audience Tunes Out January 6th Hearings Even When They Air on Fox

The House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection incited by Donald Trump has been providing increasingly incriminating evidence of Trump’s criminal culpability and that of his disreputable underlings. The latest hearing featuring Mark Meadows aide, Cassidy Hutchinson, may be the most devastating yet for the seditionist cabal.

Fox News Sad

Hutchinson’s testimony included bombshell revelations about Trump’s fore knowledge and approval of the potential for violence at his Capitol rally. She disclosed Trump’s seething anger that erupted into food flinging tantrums. She told the Committee that White House lawyers were worried about criminal charges and that several members of Congress had sought pardons from Trump.

RELATED: Trump is Freaking Out that the January 6th Hearings are So Effectively Illuminating His Crimes

Needless to say, this is not the sort of testimony that is welcomed on Fox News. In fact, it is usually either ignored or framed with knee-jerk rebuttals in order to intercept any potentially honest presentations from infecting their brainwashed viewers. However, it appears that Fox need not be so concerned about that happening, because their viewers are self-censoring the network. According to the Huffington Post

“Fox News Channel is airing the Jan. 6 committee hearings when they occur in daytime hours and a striking number of the network’s viewers have made clear they’d rather be doing something else. During two daytime hearings last week, Fox averaged 727,000 viewers, the Nielsen company said. That compares to the 3.09 million who watched the hearings on MSNBC and the 2.21 million tuned in to CNN.” […]

“Last Thursday, Fox had 1.33 million viewers for the 2 p.m. Eastern hour before the hearing started […] After the hearing started, Fox’s audience’s sank to 747,000.”

Following the hearings last Thursday, Fox’s ratings shot back up to 2.76 million for an episode of “The Five.” What this tells us is that Fox’s audience is so afraid of being exposed to any information that challenges their pre-programmed biases, that they will even tune out Fox News – the source of their pre-programmed biases. Then they file back in when Trump-fluffers like Sean Hannity resume their lying propaganda.

As a result of this “canceling” of candid accounts of events, as told mostly by Republican witnesses and Trump staffers, Fox fans effectively shield themselves from a reality that they are too fragile to deal with. They even missed Fox Newsers like anchor Bret Baier saying that…

“This testimony was very compelling from beginning to end. [Hutchinson] obviously had access to all of the players.” […]

“[Trump] says she’s lying. Cassidy Hutchinson is under oath, on Capitol Hill. The [former] president is on Truth Social.”

Baier added that he would have liked to hear some pushback from Republicans like Jim Jordan, but that “the testimony in and of itself was really, really powerful.” That commentary was followed by an embarrassingly long moment of dead air. What Baier doesn’t say is that the absence of Republicans is due to them boycotting the hearings and to Trump ordering his flunkies to refuse to testify.

RELATED: Crybaby Trump Slams the January 6th Committee For Nixing His Witnesses – Who Refused to Testify

Consequently, Trump’s glassy-eyed disciples will remain blissfully ignorant of the facts regarding the January 6th insurrection, just as they are about the economy, the border, COVID, Ukraine, gun reform, reproductive health, and of course, election “fraud.”

Ignorance is, in fact, their natural, preferred state of being. And they prove it by deliberately avoiding any news that contradicts their preconceptions and their Dear Leader Trump. Even the relentlessly Trump-friendly Fox News.

UPDATE: On Tuesday, the ratings showed that Fox News still trends down during the hearings, with MSNBC beating Fox while the hearings were in progress. More proof that Fox News viewers remain too feeble to face reality.

Rudy Giuliani is OUTRAGED that Fox News Isn’t Hyping the ‘Vicious’ (Gentle Pat) He Suffered

This is terrible news for The Onion and other producers of political satire. It has been long coming that the alternative “reality” of right-wing politicians and pundits would supersede the work of comedians. Donald Trump has led the MAGA (Make America Gag Again) movement with his increasingly preposterous outbursts that would make a street-corner schizoid cringe.

Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump

With cartoonish figures like Marjorie Taylor Greene and MyPillow’s Mike Lindell challenging the professional humorists, it was bound to happen that the balance of parody power would shift to the Trumpian GOP crackpots who present their gags as truth.

RELATED: Trump Does a Great Job of Proving How Pitifully Stupid He and His Cult Followers Are

On Sunday Trump’s disgraced lawyer, Rudy Giuliani (whose license has been suspended), suffered a “horrific” assault in a Staten Island grocery store. He claimed that the attack resulted in severe injuries and, but for his astonishing good health, would have killed him. See the frightful thwacking here for yourself…

“All of a sudden I feel a shot on my back, like somebody shot me. I went forward, but luckily I didn’t fall down. Luckily I’m a 78 year old in pretty good shape, cause if I wasn’t I would have hit the ground and probably cracked my skull.”

The following day, and after the video had been widely distributed, Giuliani continued to portray the incident as a heinous act of domestic terrorism…

“I got hit on the back as if a boulder hit me. It knocked me forward a step or two. It didn’t knock me down, but it hurt tremendously.”

However, the grisly violence was only the beginning of what infuriated Giuliani. The media response was like a the knife twisting in his near fatal wound…

“One of the only two living ex-mayors of New York – and probably, I’d say modestly, the most famous – was assaulted, was not even on Fox. Even if Putin got assaulted, it would be on Fox.”

First of all, you have to wonder which of the three living ex-mayors (Giuliani, Bill de Blasio and Michael Bloomberg) Giuliani thinks is dead. Perhaps he thinks he actually did succumb to the grocery store stunt. Secondly, if Vladimir Putin received a little love tap like the one Giuliani got it would only have made Fox News if it came from that RINO, Melania.

It isn’t surprising that Giuliani is upset with Fox News. He has already been banned from the network because he wouldn’t stop lying about election fraud on behalf of Trump. Fox is apparently sensitive about that sort of deceit since they are being sued for billions of dollars by two voting systems companies that they defamed – Dominion and Smartmatic.

Giuliani is named as a defendant in both lawsuits. And it can’t be helpful to his defense that he is making up stories about being attacked. Not that his credibility wasn’t already shot long ago. Now he is whining that a harmless, albeit non-consensual, touching is akin to an actual shooting. This is what it’s come to. And satire is the real victim here.

Ted Cruz Lies to Fox News that Democrats are ‘Encouraging Violence’ After Roe v Wade Ruling

In the wake of the appalling assault on the Constitution by the Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe vs Wade, Republicans and their mouthpieces in right-wing media immediately set out to malign pro-choice advocates and protesters. It was a coordinated strategy to deflect from the fact that the vast majority of the American people oppose the decision and are committed to correcting the historic and unprecedented legal blunder.

Fox News, Bullshit Factory

Naturally, Fox News was at the forefront of this propaganda crusade to slander peaceful protesters. And part of their plan included bringing on Sen. Ted Cruz to fabricate a phony chronicle of events. Cruz, of course, complied by spinning this utterly fictional account…

“I think there’s a real risk of violence. We’ve seen multiple Democrats now, including Maxine Waters, before that Chuck Schumer, before that the Biden White House, effectively encouraging violence. Chuck Schumer stood on the steps of the Supreme Court and threatened Justice Kavanaugh and Justice Gorsuch by name.”

There was no truth to anything Cruz was saying. Certainly no Democrats were doing anything that could be characterized as “encouraging violence.” Cruz’s comments were all out of context references from months or years ago. For instance, Chuck Schumer, reacting to a Court hearing on an abortion case, said in March of 2020 that Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh “have released the whirlwind and will pay the price.” That was more than two years ago. And Schumer even acknowledged at the time that “I shouldn’t have used the words I did, but in no way was I making a threat. […] My point was there would be political consequences.”

That concession was something that you would never hear from the Republicans fomenting violence, such as what occurred during the insurrection on January 6, 2021. But Cruz dredged up this old remark specifically to defame the pro-choice movement.

Cruz was joined in this campaign by Tucker Carlson who, following the Roe decision, said on his program that “Today you saw several elected members of Congress call for insurrection.” No, actually, no one saw that. But Carlson’s canard is reminiscent of his preposterous assertion that Stephen Colbert had engaged in insurrection when some of his staff performed a comedy routine in Washington.

RELATED: Stephen Colbert Hysterically Mocks Tucker Carlson’s ‘Comedy’ on the Arrest of His Staff in D.C.

Since the ruling was announced, the manufactured narrative from the ultra-MAGA politicians and pundits that pro-choice activists are engaging in an “insurrection” has just become more intense and bizarre. It’s a deliberately dishonest strategy contrived to both malign peaceful protesters and to trivialize the term that describes Donald Trump’s attempted coup on January 6th. And the GOP is stridently going even farther down the rabid hole. What follows are some examples of the wholly dishonest ravings of a desperate band of bullshitters:

Tucker Carlson Smears Companies that Cover Abortion Travel Costs as Being ‘Against Families’

The Supreme Court’s ruling that overturned Roe vs Wade is an unprecedented decision that, for the first time ever, removed a Constitutional right that had been affirmed numerous times for more than fifty years. And the judges responsible for the decision were put on the court by Donald Trump, who lost the popular vote twice and tried to overthrow the U.S. government.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, STFU

The American people are rarely more united on an issue than they are about preserving the reproductive choice rights provided by Roe vs Wade. Nevertheless, the Republican, anti-democratic forces in Washington managed to subvert the people’s will in order to impose a religious standard on the nation, in place of a legal one.

On Friday night Carlson launched a new, and patently offensive line of attack. He lashed out at private companies seeking to provide benefits to help employees get the healthcare they need when dealing with pregnancy and family planning. In states where abortion is now – or will soon be – illegal, these benefits will reimburse employees for costs to travel to states where their health needs can be met. And despite conservatives ordinarily supporting free market positions, Carlson is hypocritically attacking companies for trying to do what they believe is best for their employees and their business. He raged that…

“It’s obvious why it’s so important to America’s corporations, almost all of whom immediately weighed in to say, ‘We’ll fly you to get an abortion at the state of your choice.’ Why? Well, of course, employees without families are loyal to the company and, of course, it’s much cheaper to pay for an abortion than it is to pay for maternity leave, or an extra name on the insurance policy. So, it’s all about the money for corporate America. It always is. Families are bad for big corporations, therefore they’re against families.”

That is glaringly wrong for so many reasons, Let’s begin with the fact that it isn’t necessarily cheaper to insure an employee who seeks an abortion. For one thing, Carlson is assuming that everyone who gets an abortion doesn’t already have a family. That’s false. It’s also flagrantly false to suggest that employees without families – by which he means children – are more loyal to their employer. As a frozen food empire trust fund baby, whose father worked for the State Department, Carlson has never had a job that wasn’t handed to him by virtue of his wealth and elite status. Where do you suppose his loyalties lie?

More importantly, Carlson is making the repulsive argument that companies make employment decisions based on what it might cost to provide an employee with healthcare. By his own perverse logic, companies would (or should?) discriminate against an applicant who is diabetic, or has congenital heart defects, or suffers any other health challenges. Even those with families.

Carlson’s conclusion that corporations are “against families,” is not only exceedingly stupid, it ignores the fact that most corporate executives have families. He is also ignoring the broad diversity of the companies that offer the travel cost benefits. They include Meta (Facebook), Dick’s Sporting Goods, Amazon, Levi Strauss, JPMorgan Chase, Starbucks, and Tesla. Among media companies offering this benefit are Disney (ABC News), Warner Bros. Discovery (CNN), and Comcast (NBC News and MSNBC).

Conspicuously absent from that list is Fox News. Either they do not offer the benefit, or they don’t want anyone to know that they do and declined to respond to inquiries. So they are either callously indifferent to their employees’ well being, or they’re raging hypocrites. And it wouldn’t surprise anyone if it turns out to be both. After all, Fox News – and especially Tucker Carlson – have demonstrated that they don’t care about the health of their employees, or their viewers. Carlson recently endorsed nicotine addiction. No, really! And when it comes to COVID, Carlson was its biggest advocate. Those aren’t exactly pro-health, or pro-employee policies.

Tucker Carlson Boldly Endorses Nicotine Addiction, Because Without It You’re Fat and Passive

For most his tenure at Fox News, Tucker Carlson has proven himself to be an immanent threat to the health and well being of the American people. His seething white nationalism, his support for domestic terrorists, and his relentless promulgation of lies and propaganda have set him apart from even his conspiracy theory confederates at Fox News.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, M&M

Carlson’s flagrant distortions of reality are frequently dangerous in direct ways. He has been a staunch opponent of COVID vaccines, likely resulting in severe illness and death for many of his dimwitted viewers who were foolish enough to follow his ignorant advice. And he has embraced Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s brand of totalitarianism.

RELATED: Fox News Senior Putin Apologist, Tucker Carlson, Pleads to Keep the Russian Dictator in Power

On Wednesday night Carlson found a brand new way to make Americans sicker. He literally came out in favor of smoking cigarettes and/or vaping, a popular and lethal pastime for teenagers. Carlson’s rant was triggered by the news that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is cracking down on nicotine delivery products like those marketed (to children) by Juul. Carlson, of course, has a knee-jerk opposition to anything done by the Biden administration, no matter how unarguably beneficial. So Carlson unleashed the following idiotic harangue…

“Yesterday the FDA announced it’s planning to remove virtually all nicotine from cigarettes. Now nicotine is not the thing that gives you cancer. Nicotine is the thing – it’s addictive, but it also increases mental acuity. But they’ve taken that out. According to the Wall Street Journal, the agency will also ban Juul e-cigarettes. Now what happens when you get off nicotine? Well, your testosterone levels plummet, and you gain weight. Both of which the administration is for because you become more passive and easier to control.”

Where to start? How about with the fact that nicotine is not merely addictive, its addictive properties are artificially enhanced in cigarettes by tobacco companies to make their victims (aka customers) more physically dependent on them. Secondly, to the extent that nicotine affects mental acuity, it acts as a stimulant that has essentially the same temporary affect as cocaine or methamphetamines. Is Carlson in favor of those as well?

Carlson then asserts that when nicotine is stopped it results in a decline in testosterone. That’s false. In fact, some studies show that nicotine can actually depress testosterone levels and are “another main cause of erectile dysfunction.” Furthermore, smokers, compared to nonsmokers, had greater amounts of age-related brain volume loss.” Which would explain Sean Hannity…

Carlson also makes the preposterous allegation that the Biden administration wants people to be obese and to have lower levels of testosterone, because that would make them “more passive and easier to control.” WHAT?

Who wants to tell Carlson that nine of the top ten most obese states in the U.S. are in the blood red South? Does that mean that Republicans have manipulated America’s fattest populations in order to control them? Not surprisingly, the most populous – and bluest – states in the country (New York, California, Massachusetts) are among the ten least obese.

Carlson has been on a testosterone binge lately. He recently aired a segment on how distraught he is that the cartoon M&Ms were no longer “sexy” to him. He also produced a crocumentary that he called “The End of Men.,” which he described saying that “One of the biggest stories in our lifetimes is the total collapse of testosterone levels in American men,” and that it was “changing the way people are at the most fundamental level.”

RELATED: Macho Poser Tucker Carlson’s Journey from ‘Dancing With the Stars’ to ‘The End of Men’

True to form, almost everything in his film was blatantly false. Carlson’s fixation on testosterone is just the latest example of his hatred for women and his innate fear of inadequacy. And he is deftly injecting it into his sweaty obsession with lambasting all things Biden. The result being an advocacy of a deadly and addictive narcotic that is causing untold suffering among American adults and children. And this is something that Fox News, and its executive management, thinks is acceptable television?

Judge Rules that Fox News Acted With ‘Actual Malice’ By Spreading Trump’s Election Fraud Lies

The hearings of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection incited by Donald Trump have been effectively exposing the role of Trump and his confederates in politics and the press. It is now an inescapable fact that they knew that their attempts to undermine democracy and overturn the election were illegal and they just didn’t care.

Donald Trump, Fox News, Lies

On Tuesday a judge confirmed that Fox News was among those who knowingly spread lies and disinformation regarding the 2020 presidential election. The ruling came in a lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems who allege that Fox News (and Newsmax and One America News Network) defamed them with blatantly false reports of election fraud. The ruling rejected Fox’s motion to dismiss the case, and explicitly cited the network’s owners as justification to allow the suit to proceed. According to Bloomberg News

“Fox News’s parent company can be sued by a voting-machine maker because Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch may have acted with “actual malice” in directing the network to broadcast conspiracy theories alleging the 2020 presidential election was rigged against Donald Trump. […]

“Dominion cited in its suit a report that Rupert Murdoch spoke with Trump a few days after the election ‘and informed him that he had lost,’ the judge noted.”

The judge further noted that…

“‘These allegations support a reasonable inference that Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch either knew Dominion had not manipulated the election or at least recklessly disregarded the truth when they allegedly caused Fox News to propagate its claims about Dominion.””

The evidence that Fox News purposefully maligned Dominion is overwhelming and irrefutable. The flagrant falsehoods promulgated on Fox include bizarre allegations that Dominion was created by deceased Venezuelan leader, Hugo Chavez; that their machines were rigged to switch votes from Trump to Biden; that Dominion was run by a George Soros associate; that Jewish space lasers operated by China altered the voter database.

Okay, that last one was not alleged in the lawsuit, but has been alleged by other Trump cult disciples. And the fact that it fits right in with the other real allegations says something all by itself.

In another defamation lawsuit filed by voting software company, Smartmatic, actual malice – exemplified by Tucker Carlson – was also cited when Fox’s motion to dismiss that case was rejected.

RELATED: Judge Cites Tucker Carlson as Validation of ‘Actual Malice’ in Defamation Suit Against Fox News

There’s a reason that these ruling keep going against Fox News. The network’s deliberate distortions of the truth have been a core part of their propaganda crusade to advance the “Big Lie” that Trump has been whining about for more than a year and a half. He has lost more than sixty cases challenging the election results, primarily because he has never produced a shred of evidence to support his charges.

Unfortunately, the efforts by Trump, aided and abetted by Fox News, have led to numerous episodes of violence, including the January 6th insurrection on Capitol Hill. And even that was predicted by a judge in a related case…

Stephen Colbert Hysterically Mocks Tucker Carlson’s ‘Comedy’ on the Arrest of His Staff in D.C.

Last week Senior Fox News Blow Hard, Tucker Carlson, went completely off the rails with a ludicrous segment accusing Stephen Colbert of having “committed insurrection” at the Capitol when members of his staff were detained during production of comedy routine featuring Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog. Carlson bizarrely asserted that it was “exactly like what happened on January 6th.”

Sure. It was “exactly” like the deadly insurrection by hundreds of hostile thugs incited by Donald Trump to break through barricades, injure more than 140 police officers, five of whom died, shatter windows and bust through locked doors, threaten to kill or hang government officials, and cause $30 million dollars in damages.

On Monday night Colbert responded to the preposterous ravings of Carlson with both humor and insight. In his opening monologue, Colbert was noticeably shocked by the pure idiocy of Carlson’s take on the incident. He allusively referred to Carlson’s latest harangue saying that…

“… a couple of the TV people claimed that my puppet squad had “committed insurrection” at the U.S. Capitol building. First of all…What? Second of all…Huh? Third of all, they weren’t in the Capitol building. fourth of all – and I am shocked that I have to explain the difference – Insurrection involves the lawful actions of Congress and howling for the blood of elected leaders all to prevent the peaceful transfer of power. This was first degree puppetry. This was hijinks with intent to goof.” […]

“Drawing any equivalence between rioters storming the Capitol to prevent the counting of electoral ballots, and a cigar-chomping toy dog is shameful and a grotesque insult to the memory of everyone who died. And it obscenely trivializes the service and courage of the Capitol Police showed on that terrible day. But who knows. Maybe there was a vast conspiracy to overthrow the United States with a rubber Rottweiler.”

For his part, Carlson spent the entire A-block of his show blasting Colbert and his “seven saboteurs” who Carlson said had “breach[ed] the Capitol grounds” on “a hunt for sitting members of Congress.” And if you think he was kidding – because Carlson’s delivery always seems too asinine to take seriously – he followed up those allegations by affirming that “That happened, ladies and gentlemen!” That, in fact, did not happen .

Carlson went on to call the Colbert comedy routine “a meticulously planned coup … under the direct control of an extremist called Stephen Colbert.” He claimed that Colbert’s team “trashed the place, committing violence against our democracy.” Which is an absurd distortion of reality. Then he mocked the trauma experienced by journalists and members of Congress who were terrorized by the hundreds of StormTrumpers who were marauding through the Capitol calling for their deaths.

Was Carlson joking? It hardly matters. So much of what he said was uttered with a straight face and followed by a statement of affirmation. If it was satire it was executed so badly that its alleged humor was totally lost. And if it were his perverse attempt at comedy, it was a nauseatingly callous display that belittled the serious physical and emotional injuries suffered by the victims of Trump’s seditionists on January 6th.

But then, does anyone expect anything from Carlson other than malicious dishonesty and crackpot conspiracy theories? His whole raison d’etre is to spread ultra-rightist propaganda and divide the American people with flagrant lies. Pretty much exactly what his Dear Leader Trump is best known for. After all, he was actually defended in a defamation lawsuit by Fox News lawyers who told the court that “no reasonable person” would believe anything he said.

GOP Senator Tells Fox News that Support for Gun Reform in Polls is Because People are Stupid

This year there have been an appalling number of horrific mass shootings that have weighed heavily on the hearts of the nation and brought untold grief and loss to the communities in which they occurred. These tragedies are even more gut wrenching when children are the victims, as they were in Uvalde, Texas.

Yet somehow America’s representatives in Washington can’t manage to take affirmative action to address this epidemic of senseless bloodshed. And the fault lies squarely on Republicans who are beholden to the NRA-theists, and unwilling to even compromise on reforms that they agree on in principle.

RELATED: POLL: 44% of ‘Law and Order’ Republicans are Totally Cool with All the Mass Shootings in America

This resistance to advancing common sense solutions is ingrained in the GOP despite the overwhelming support for reforms in the populace at large. And that dichotomy was painfully illustrated in an interview on Fox News Sunday wherein Sen. Mike Lee of Utah degenerated into a babbling bowl of jelly as he struggled to justify his betrayal to his constituents. Fox’s Shannon Bream asked Lee about recent Fox News polling that “shows that there is a lot of strength behind some of these proposals at this time.” Bream then displayed a graphic of the poll’s findings…

Then Bream gave Lee an opportunity to respond, pointing out that “There is a lot of momentum, at least among the public sphere,” and asking “Are you out of step with your constituents?” Lee awkwardly dodged the question with a reply that was even worse than merely being out of step. He said that…

“First of all, what’s important is that we look out for the rights of constituents. Constituents are asked poll questions, they are not asked questions about specific language within legislative text. It’s the job of the lawmaker to look out for the interest and the rights of the law-abiding citizens they represent. And so with each of those provisions — I understand how they can get high popularity readings when they don’t define them. For example, you talk about banning assault weapons. There is no universal definition of what an assault rifle is. […] So that text does matter here, because it is that text that will determine whether we are intruding unduly on the rights of the American law-abiding citizen.”

To summarize Lee’s response, he believes the legislator’s job is to disregard what the public wants because they are too stupid to answer simple, straightforward questions in a poll. He even provides an example of how idiotic he thinks people are by asserting that they can’t form a coherent opinion about “assault weapons” because they don’t know what they are. Really?

Lee’s tortured doubletalk is just an attempt to evade the fact that he and his Republican confederates are purposefully betraying their constituents. The American people know what assault weapons are. They also know that legislation is written in legalese, but that that doesn’t make their opinions on these issues invalid. And they know that Lee is an arrogant horse’s ass who thinks he’s smarter than the dimwitted deplorables that he purports to represent.

For the record, the Fox News poll covered several aspects of the gun reform debate. And nearly every question revealed that significant majorities of the American people want substantive reforms. Here are a few of the poll’s findings…

  • “In general, a 56% majority believes that having tougher gun laws would reduce mass shootings in the United States, while 39% do not.”
  • “On specific gun proposals, voters are most supportive of requiring background checks on all gun buyers (88%) and improving enforcement of existing gun laws (84%).”
  • “Another 8 in 10 favor raising the legal age to buy assault weapons to 21 (82%), passing ‘red flag’ laws that allow police to take guns from people shown to be a danger (81%), background checks on buying ammunition (80%), mental health checks (78%), and raising the legal age to buy any gun to 21 (78%).”
  • “Seven in 10 favor banning high-capacity ammunition clips (70%), while slightly less (63%) support banning assault weapons.”
  • “The only proposals tested that lack majority support are allowing teachers to carry guns at schools (48%) and encouraging more citizens to carry a weapon (45%).”

With poll results like this – and from Fox News yet – the smug superiority of Republicans like Lee, who think that they know better than the people, is all the more repugnant. And it’s all the more obvious that their allegiance is to the gun industry lobbyists and the ammosexual perverts, rather than their own constituents.

Until that bond is broken, the United States will continue to suffer the most mass shootings of any nation on the planet. And the most effective way to break that bond is to vote out every Republican at every level of government. Hopefully voters will recognize that that is the only way they are ever likely to get true representation on this issue, as well as so many others, including healthcare, the environment, fair taxation, reproductive choice, civil liberties, and even the right to vote at all.
