Fox News Hosts ‘Alternative Facts’ Fixer, Kellyanne Conway, Who Fancies Herself a Fact Checker

In these troubling times comedy may seem far afield from the bleakness besieging us in the daily news. The world appears to be awash in worry over war, disease, and the myriad burdens of everyday life. But humor, while elusive, has not deserted us entirely. It is just dwelling in unexpected places. Like the ravings of right-wing sophists on Fox News.

Kellyanne Conway, Fox News

On Thursday nights episode of Laura Ingraham’s crudcast, she hosted Donald Trump’s former White House counselor, Kellyanne Conway. It hardly matters what the topic of the discussion was because these two fabulists couldn’t be bothered to do anything but distort reality and malign Democrats in general, and President Biden in particular. And so it was when Conway unleashed this unhinged harangue…

“Joe Biden, he has this way…Jen Psaki…of playing the blaming game, maim and shame nonsense of Washington. But it would rely on the American people believing it. And they’ve lost credibility not just in their message, in their messengers. You know, Laura, I like to say the Democrats don’t have – this administration doesn’t have – a messaging problem. They have a fact problem. And it’s reflected in the polls.”

So Biden’s blame, shame, maim, claim to fame is just more of the same from this lame dame. [See, two can play that rhyming game] But nothing could more cravenly defame [Okay, I’ll stop now] the President than a fact check by the Mistress of Alternative Facts herself. Conway coined that phrase when confronted with the blatant lies spewed by Trump’s first press secretary, Sean Spicer, about what he laughably tried to pass off as “the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period.” For the record, it wasn’t.

It is, of course, hysterical that Conway is now criticizing Biden, and his press secretary, Jen Psaki, who has distinguished herself as an eminently qualified, brilliant, and yes, honest public servant. Conway didn’t bother to back up her assertion that Biden and/or Psaki had a “fact problem.” But that’s only because there was no way she would be able to.

Conway’s specialty is making unsupported allegations on Fox News where no one will challenge her. It’s something she may have picked up from her former boss, Donald Trump, who did – and still does – the very same thing. In fact [that word again], Trump was whining much of Friday morning about an interview he did with a couple of YouTube sycophants wherein he regurgitated his “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was “rigged,” and ranted incoherently about windmills having something to do with Ukraine.

YouTube deleted the video because it violated their terms of service that clearly state that “Content that advances false claims that widespread fraud, errors, or glitches changed the outcome of the U.S. 2020 presidential election is not allowed on YouTube.”

In response to YouTube removing his lie-riddled video, Trump complained that “We don’t have a free press. This is what they do in Russia.” Then he had his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill post a rambling statement – three times – that asked “Whatever happened to free speech in our Country?”

Clearly Trump doesn’t know the meaning of the constitutional protection of a “free press,” It’s a constraint on infringements imposed by Congress. YouTube, however, is a private enterprise, and they have the freedom to set and enforce their own rules. Trump still has free speech that he can exercise on many other media platforms, including his own. Oh wait… His own platform is a scam that doesn’t even work. But other than that…

Trump Phones Into Fox News to Offer His Idiotic, Egomaniacal Take on Putin’s Invasion of Ukraine

Russia’s most aggressively ambitious tyrant in 70 years, Vladimir Putin, has launched the attack on Ukraine that many people, including President Biden, were expecting. It is certain to result in needless hardship and human loss. And it comes at time when America’s right-wing Republican Trump cult has been shamelessly praising Putin and bitterly maligning Biden.

Donald Trump TV Set

Donald Trump himself has been engaged in non-stop America-bashing. So it should come as no surprise that, in this moment of crisis, he would emerge from his Mar-a-Lago bunker to disgorge his utterly repugnant and worthless perspective on the tragedy that has befallen Ukraine. And that emergence would be facilitated, of course, by his anti-American Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News.

While the Russian invasion was still in progress, Trump called in to Fox News chat with devoted Trump-fluffer, Laura Ingraham (video below). And in the seven and a half minutes that she sucked up to him, Trump babbled, deflected, and exalted himself. But never once offered meaningful counsel, condolences to the Ukrainian people, or condemnation of his soul mate, Vladimir Putin and Russia. Ingraham asked a total of three questions, which Trump barely paid any attention to:

Ingraham’s First Question: You’re watching this unfold. You’re reaction to Putin’s threat if any Western nation, or any nation, intervenes with this Russian military action.
Trump: Well, this is something that should have never happened. It would not have happened during my administration. In fact. some people were saying why didn’t this take place over the last four years during our administration. And it didn’t for a very good reason. And I’ll explain that to you some day. But it wouldn’t have taken place. And it wouldn’t have taken place right now. And it’s a very sad thing for the world, for the country, and it’s certainly very sad for a lot of people that are gonna be needlessly killed.

Notice that Trump completely evaded the question. His answer to Ingraham asking for his “reaction to Putin’s threat if any nation intervenes,” was “This would not have happened during my administration,” which he repeated four times like a blathering crackhead. He had no idea how to respond to Putin’s threat, so he wrapped himself in a narcissistic cocoon, fixated on his delusions that everything would have been hunky dory just by his divine presence.

And since Trump declined to explain to Ingraham why Putin wouldn’t have invaded Ukraine if he were still occupying the White House, here is the actual explanation: Putin would not have needed to invade Ukraine because Trump was giving him everything he wanted without any military actions or threats. Putin wanted assurances that Ukraine would not join NATO. He wanted to weaken the European Union. He wanted to undermine democracy in the West, particularly in the United States. He wanted to expand Russia’s territorial influence. And Trump was already allowing him to do all of that. It’s only because Trump was booted out of office and replaced by a President who stood for American values of democracy and liberty that Putin decided he would have to achieve his totalitarian goals via force.

Ingraham’s Second Question: Give us sense though, you know Vladimir Putin. You’ve dealt with him. How would you have avoided this conflict? How would you have prevented these series of events from unfolding?
Trump: Well, look, I do know him, and I know him very well. We’ve had many, many times together. And I got along with him fantastically. Despite the fact that I shut down Nord Stream 2. [Edited to remove a bunch of irrelevant nonsense about Nord Stream 2] So I think that it’s a terrible thing. The way it started, I really don’t believe he wanted to do this initially. I think he wanted to do something and negotiate. And it just got worse and worse. And then he saw the weakness. And you know it really started with the weakness in Afghanistan and the way they pulled out of Afghanistan. I really believe that’s where he started thinking he can do this.

Once again, Trump completely evaded the question. When asked directly how he “would have avoided this conflict,” Trump just boasted that he “got along fantastically” with Putin (so what?), that he shut down the Nord Stream 2 oil pipeline (which he never did), and then he rambled on incoherently about Afghanistan in order to further disparage Biden. He didn’t approach anything resembling a plan to avoid the conflict. It was just more of his robo-talking points that he’s been disgorging for months.

Ingraham’s Third Question: President Trump, I want to ask you this. We understand that President Biden is monitoring this situation at the White House now and is gonna talk to the G7 tomorrow. Tomorrow? And he’s gonna talk to the nation sometime tomorrow as well. You’re reaction to that approach?
Trump: I don’t think he’s monitoring. I think he’s probably sleeping right now. This is a terrible thing. This is something that should have never happened. I really believe that it was Afghanistan. When he looked at that horrible, weak pullout.

This time Trump kind of stayed with the question. But his answer was just to lash out with his typically childish insults about Biden. For the record, Biden was also on the phone, but with his national security team, Ukrainian President Zelensky, and representatives of NATO, the EU, and the United Nations. Meanwhile, Trump, because his attention span is so limited, reverted back to the same diversions he deployed for the previous questions: It would never have happened, and Afghanistan.

To close the interview, Trump mashed together his long held and treasonous preference for Putin over Biden, his manically obsessive “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was rigged, and his mindlessly rote attacks on inflation and immigration…

Trump: Now [Putin] sees the weakness and the incompetence and the stupidity of this administration. And as an American I’m angry about it, and I’m saddened by it. And it all happened because of a rigged election. And that includes inflation. And that includes millions of people pouring in on a monthly basis.

And with that malicious assault on America during a time of crisis, Trump signed off. He was typically antagonistic toward the country he pretends to put first. He provided no encouragement for Americans who are facing the hardships that inevitably accompany war. He was just hostile, unpatriotic, and as always, egocentric and uncaring about anyone or anything but himself. So … same as it ever was with Trump.

Fox News Openly Encourages Violence Against Democrats: ‘We Need These Lawmakers to Be Victims’

On January 6th, 2021, Donald Trump instigated a violent insurrection, sending his cult disciples to attack members of Congress in order to prevent them from carrying out their constitutional duty to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election. Many people were terrorized and injured, including more than 140 police officers, five of whom died.

Fox News, Terrorism

Apparently that wasn’t sufficient for Fox News, who justified and applauded that violence. In the months that have followed they affirmed their support for hostile actions aimed at imposing their ultra-rightist tyranny on America. Their thirst for blood is made shamelessly evident on a near nightly basis. It can be seen in recent surveys that show just how far the right has devolved:

“Polling indicates that 30 percent of Republicans, and 40 percent of people who ‘most trust’ far-right news sources, believe that ‘true patriots’ may have to resort to violence to ‘save’ the country — a statement that gets far less support among Democrats and independents.”

On Thursday Fox News provided additional proof that violence is not merely a tangential consequence of their dreams for a despotic dystopia. It is a fully integrated tactic they are deploying in pursuit of their maniacal mission. Fox host Griff Jenkins interviewed Joseph Imperatrice, the founder of Blue Lives Matter, in a segment about a shooting that threatened Democratic Rep. Cori Bush:

Jenkins: Now we see Cori Bush, liberal Democrat from St. Louis, Missouri, saying on Twitter that her car was hit with bullets. Her car was shot. No one was in it, fortunately. But will these lawmakers change their tune?
Imperatrice: The harsh truth is we need these lawmakers to be victims. We need them to understand when the worst situation possible hits them, and then they can turn around and say, ‘Wow, maybe it’s an issue. Maybe I need to wake up and do my job and change things for the better. I’m not praying any of these people get hurt or harmed, but they need to see firsthand how bad the streets really are.
Jenkins: Of course, we would never wish any harm whatsoever on any American, let alone a politician we disagreed with. But the instances we did see – two instances of carjacking, fortunately, everyone was OK – maybe it will change their minds. Who knows?

WHUT? Imperatrice’s disgusting assertion “we need these lawmakers to be victims” would not be tolerated by any decent TV network. Which explains why Fox News not only tolerated it, but agreed with it.

Both Imperatrice and Jenkins tried to water down their horrendous support for domestic terrorism by inserting a disingenuous disclaimer that they don’t wish any harm on anyone. However, saying that they don’t wish any harm but they need to see firsthand” violence, or but…maybe it will change their minds,” immediately contradicts the statement and serves as a justification for the harm they pretend to oppose, but overtly advocated.

Fox News isn’t going to be happy until we are in the midst of a full scale civil war. It is what they are promoting via their support for the insurrection and Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was “rigged” and “stolen.” It was explicitly articulated at the recent Turning Point USA conference (of which is Fox News is a sponsor), where an attendee asked “When do we get to use the guns? How many elections are they going to steal before we kill these people?”

Other blatant calls for violence include Jesse Watters urging his audience to go in with the kill shot if they see Dr. Anthony Fauci in public. Also, Laura Ingraham recently applauded, literally, the news that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley, had tested positive for COVID.

These are not rare occurrences. Sadly, these sort of abhorrent remarks are all too common on Fox News. They are frequent and deliberate and no one should doubt that they mean what they say.

Jimmy Kimmel Rewinds Trump to Remind the Fox News ‘Bobbleheads’ How Humiliating He Was

This week President Biden met with reporters for a Q & A that set a record as the longest presidential press conference ever. He took questions from a broad array of media, including the most unfriendly and flagrantly biased members of the press corps, Fox News and Newsmax, whom he handily dispatched with grace and humor.

Fox News, Sean Hannity, Jimmy Kimmel

However, Biden’s endurance, command of the issues, and respectful demeanor didn’t deter knee jerk criticism from the Trump-fluffing Fox “News” hacks who made up their minds to hate Biden’s performance before the event began. The post-conference coverage on Fox News was predictably and uniformly negative, albeit lacking in any substantive critique.

Leading the parade of professional party poopers at Fox were Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham. They engaged in a mutual denigration society segment that cemented their reputations as TV vermin with this reality-challenged analysis of the Biden presser:

Ingraham: (Laughing) It was a nightmare. Oh my God! It was about the worst that I can remember from a president, frankly.
Hannity: I honestly as an American – and I don’t say this with any joy – I felt embarrassed. I felt it’s humiliating.

“The worst”? “Humiliating”? Have these two clowns ever seen a Donald Trump press conference? Have they already forgotten the embarrassing display that Trump put on every time he faced the media that he maligned in Stalinist terms as “the enemy of the people”?

Fortunately, Jimmy Kimmel was there to remind them with video documentation of Trump’s infantile, hostile, and cringeworthy behavior. Kimmel introduced the evidence saying that…

“The bobbleheads over at Fox News had a lot of fun with Biden’s press conference yesterday. Here’s the comedy team of Hannity and Ingraham with their in-depth and unbiased analysis of when Biden met the press.”

Talk about humiliating! Trump couldn’t open his mouth without making an asinine display of ignorance and seething animus toward anyone and anything that he regarded as less than unflinchingly adoring. And Trump had his own misrepresentation of what Biden said at the presser. He lied that Biden had “admitted” that there was election fraud in 2020. Of course, Biden never said anything of the sort. But in Trump’s world there are no facts allowed. Which makes this segment with attorney Ethan Bearman, that aired Thursday night, such a rare occurrence by a truthteller on Fox:

Ingraham and Hannity really shouldn’t attempt to mock others. they are terrible at it, and they are too big as targets themselves to risk it. Last year Hannity threatened Kimmel to stop talking about him and his show. And look how that went went.

Loathsome Laura Ingraham of Fox News Applauds Report that Joint Chiefs Chairman Mark Milley Has COVID

The heinous inhumanity of contemporary conservatism has been evident for years. It is an ideology that delights in the hardship of others, whether they be political opponents or citizens who have the audacity to be poor, non-white, or (gasp) Democrats. And their openly hostile attitude toward those they regard as adversaries has been spiraling downward since the advent of the Cult of Donald Trump, who also gets his kicks from people suffering.

Fox News, Laura Ingraham

To prove that point, Fox News Senior White Nationalist, Laura Ingraham, offered another episode of her continuing segment “Positively Boosted” on her program on Monday. The purpose of the segment is to callously mock people who have been diagnosed with COVID after having been vaccinated. It is a despicable concept that reveals her perverse pleasure in the suffering of others.

In Monday’s episode Ingraham reported that Gen. Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was diagnosed with COVID. But it wasn’t enough to merely report this news that any decent person would consider unfortunate, Ingraham actually applauded with glee while doing so. “The triple vaxxed Joint Chiefs chairman Mark Milley,” Ingraham gushed, “our favorite, Mark Milley, tested positive for COVID yesterday.”

Ingraham and her guest, Raymond Arroyo of the Eternal Word Television Network, went on to cheer the illnesses of Marine Corps commandant, General David Berger, and the Vatican’s secretary of state, Cardinal Pietro Parolin. They closed the segment with their wholly disingenuous well wishes that “they’re all healthy and fine. But stop pushing your mandates.”

Note that she said that from where she is remotely broadcasting due to the mandates imposed by Fox News. What’s more, Milley’s diagnosis is proof that mandates, like those imposed by the military, are necessary as a matter of military readiness. As CNN reports

“[T]here were 32,912 COVID cases in service members around the world, marking a dramatic increase from one week earlier, when there were 13,940 cases across the military. Just before Christmas, the number was a far lower, at 5,285 cases.”

Milley is Ingraham’s “favorite” because he has had concerns about diversity and racism in the ranks, which she called a “far-left Marxist racist ideology.” She may also have been listening to her Fox News confederate, Tucker Carlson, who maligned Milley for the same reason, saying – in a feat of epic projection – that “He’s not just a pig, he’s stupid.” All because Milley told a congressional hearing that…

“I do think it’s important for those of us in uniform to be open minded and be widely read. The United States Military Academy is a university. And it is important that we train and we understand. And I want to understand white rage. And I’m white, and I want to understand it. So what is it that caused thousands of people to assault this building and try to overturn the Constitution of the United States of America? What caused that?”

Perhaps Ingraham was also triggered by Milley’s remarks published in the book Peril, by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa. The book reported that…

“Milley took top secret action to limit President Trump’s ability to make strike or to use nuclear weapons. […] Milley is deeply shaken from the assault on the Capitol on [January] 6th. He believes Trump is unstable, unpredictable, and Milley believes that Trump is in serious mental decline.”

For the record, Gen. Milley is a career Army officer who was appointed to his post by Trump in 2018 and confirmed by the Senate on a vote of 89 to 1 (Jeff Merkley, a Democrat, was the sole “no” vote). But despite Trump’s promotion, as he often does, he later turned on Milley and appeared on the Newsmax program hosted by his former press secretary, Sean Spicer, to respond to the excerpts from Woodward’s book by accusing Milley of treason.

The anti-vax positions by Ingraham and Fox News are prolonging and exacerbating the pandemic, particularly among their own viewers. And Ingraham’s idiotic and insensitive segment mocking people who got COVID after being vaccinated is just more dangerous disinformation. She is discouraging people from getting vaccinated by falsely implying that vaccines don’t work. Which results in the virus spreading and infecting more people, including some who were vaccinated.

What Ingraham doesn’t bother to mention is that the vaccinated will generally have mild symptoms, if any, while the unvaccinated are far more likely to wind up in the hospital, or the morgue. But those pesky facts don’t deter Ingraham or Fox News from spreading lies that put people’s lives at risk. In fact, as can be seen in this instance, they actually get off on it.

Fox News Hosts Begged Mark Meadows to Get Trump to Stop the Insurrection on January 6th

Every day there is more evidence of the complicity of Donald Trump and his Confederacy of Traitors who tried to undermine democracy and overturn an election with violence. The latest discoveries are in documents that Trump’s Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, turned over to the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection.

Donald Trump Insurrection

Yes, that’s the same Mark Meadows who is now refusing to comply with a subpoena and will shortly be referred to the Justice Department on charges of contempt of Congress.

The documents that have just come to light are texts messages that were sent to Meadows while the StormTrumpers were assaulting the Capitol. Rep. Liz Cheney read some of those messages into the record during a hearing on the contempt charges against Meadows. And some of what was revealed is going to be awfully difficult for some Fox News hosts to explain away:

“According to the record multiple Fox News hosts knew the president needed to act immediately. They texted Mr. Meadows and he has turned over those texts. Quote, ‘Mark, the president needs to tell people in the Capitol to go home. This is hurting all of us. He is destroying his legacy,’ Laura Ingraham wrote. “Please, get him on TV. Destroying everything you have accomplished,’ Brian Kilmeade texted. Quote, ‘Can he make a statement, ask people to leave the Capitol?’ Sean Hannity urged.

“As the violence continued, one of the president’s sons texted Mr. Meadows, quote, ‘He’s got to condemn this shit ASAP. The Capitol Police tweet is not enough.’ Donald Trump Jr texted. Meadows responded quote, ‘I’m pushing it hard. I agree.’

“Still, president Trump did not immediately act. Donald Trump Jr texted again, again, and again. urging action by the president. Quote, ‘We need an Oval Office address. He has to lead now. It has gone too far and gotten out of hand,’ end quote.

“But hours passed without necessary action by the president. These non-privileged texts are further proof of president Trump’s supreme dereliction of duty during those 187 minutes.”

Indeed, these texts unambiguously incriminate Trump for deliberately allowing the deadly insurrection to proceed, and for violating his oath of office to defend the Constitution. But they also incriminate Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham, and Brian Kilmeade. While they were obviously aware of what was happening at the Capitol, and the threat that it represented, their actions since then have been to dismiss and downplay what they knew were violent acts of sedition.

In the months that have followed, they have all used their television platforms to lie that the insurrection was nothing more than a protest by peaceful patriots. But it is now abundantly clear that they knew what they were saying were flagrant falsehoods. And they purposefully deceived their viewers in order to advance the coup attempt by Trump. It is no longer possible for them to pretend, as Hannity did last month during an interview with Trump, that the insurrectionists were all members of Antifa. They knew that the rioters were Trump supporters. Obviously Antifa (if it actually existed, which it doesn’t) wouldn’t obey any entreaties from Trump to withdraw. Which is why they were pleading with Trump to call them off.

What’s more, the Foxies exposed their utterly inappropriate relationship with Trump. What business do they have sending messages to the Trump White House with advice on how to respond to an unfolding crisis. And notice that their advice was focused solely on the harm that Trump’s inaction was doing – not to members of Congress and other innocent people – but to their political interests. They were not acting as journalists (which of course, they are not), but as Trump team members and accomplices.

It will be interesting see what sort of lies they tell to try to wash off the stain of their treasonous acts. Because they surely will attempt to dig themselves into even deeper holes. They simply don’t have the integrity or honor to tell the truth. But these text messages tell the truth for them. And it’s a pretty good bet that this is just the beginning.

UPDATE: Silence from Fox News, and Meadows Responds: On Monday evening none of the Fox News hosts above whose texts were revealed mentioned them on their programs. Hannity even interviewed Meadows and completely ignored this news. So, as usual, they are keeping their audience ignorant.

Also, Meadows told Newsmax that the Committee “tried to weaponize text messages, selectively leaked them, to put out a narrative, quite frankly, that the president didn’t act.” In other words, he just attacked the Committee. He had no response to the incriminating substance of the text messages that show conclusively that Trump did not act. What other narrative could there be? Meadows didn’t offer one.

Trump Whines To Fox News that ‘I Have Nothing to Hide’ While He’s Suing to Hide Everything

Poor Donald Trump is scared silly that he might pay a price for his treasonous, failed coup attempt. He’s lashing out incoherently at his political foes. His former Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, who already turned over damning records to the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection, is now retreating to the shelter of the 5th Amendment to avoid incriminating himself – and Trump.

Donald Trump Circling the Drain

It may be too little to late for Meadows whose defiance of a congressional subpoena will likely result in a charge of criminal contempt. What’s more, among the records he provided is a PowerPoint presentation detailing Trump’s plans to undermine democracy and install himself as dictator. All of this malarkey is rooted in his “Big Lie” about the 2020 Presidential election that he is afraid to debate.

RELATED: Chickensh!t Trump Dodges the Debate He Proposed After His Phony Challenge Was Accepted

Adding to Trump’s woes is the D.C. Court of Appeals ruling rejecting his bid to suppress the release of his communications with the insurrection plotters. In a desperate play to spin this bad news in his favor, Trump fled to his personal media panic room, Fox News, to pump out some positive propaganda. He called into Laura Ingraham’s program where he knew he would be greeted with slobbering sympathy and unfettered freedom to lie.

Trump wasn’t disappointed. Ingraham allowed him to reframe the deadly riots in the Capitol on January 6th by violent StormTrumpers as merely a protest. Instead, Trump maligned the millions of Americans who honored democratic ideals by voting on Election Day as the “real” insurrection. Then Trump unleashed this morsel of mendacity (video below):

Ingraham: Do you think your nominees to the Court are going to uphold your claims of executive privilege in this case?
Trump: Well, I hope they do. I’ll tell you, the biggest loser would be Biden because if it ever changes, and I think it will, then he won’t be able to use it with respect to Hunter and all of the things that are going on that are so terrible. So I would think he’d want to see this upheld, frankly. I think it’s very important for him. Honestly, I have nothing to hide. I wasn’t involved in that. And if you look at my words and what I said in the speech, they were extremely calming, actually. But I would think that the Democrats would like to see it, and I think secretly they would like to see it upheld.

Of course Trump hopes that the Justices he placed on the Court obey his divine will. That’s why he put them there. But legal experts are predicting that they might show some measure of independence and allow the D.C. Appeals Court ruling to stand.

More to the point, Trump inexplicably declares that “I have nothing to hide.” Which is a peculiar stance for someone who is suing Congress to keep his White House records hidden. An innocent person would be anxious to release documents that he thought would exonerate him. But Trump wants people to believe that he is appealing the Court decision to the Supreme Court because he has nothing to hide.

And if that weren’t preposterous enough, Trump is claiming that the sermon he delivered to his cult disciples prior to the Capitol riots was “extremely calming.” Which part of that speech do you suppose he was referring to? Here are some excerpts that he might regard as calmative:

  • “All of us here today do not want to see our election victory stolen by emboldened radical-left Democrats, which is what they’re doing. And stolen by the fake news media.”
  • “We will never give up, we will never concede.”
  • “Our country has had enough. We will not take it anymore.”
  • “We will not let them silence your voices.”
  • “We’re going to have to fight much harder.”
  • “You’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength.”
  • “We fight like hell. And if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.”

Indeed, those words could be seen as – let’s say tranquilizing. They would have the effect of putting his devotees into a stupor sufficient to persuade them to attack Congress, threaten its members and staff, break through windows and doors, vandalize historic property, and assault police officers.

Finally, Trump bizarrely pretends that he’s actually pursuing his legal path to help President Biden. But instead, he’s He making the oddly argued case that Biden doesn’t face any legal jeopardy. He suggests that Biden should favor a ruling that suppressed such disclosures because he would benefit from it. Therefore, since Biden is supportive of the Appeals Court ruling, he clearly isn’t afraid of some future records being released that might incriminate him. Unlike Trump, who is shaking in his elevator boots. Because he has nothing to hide. Right?

GOP Senator Projects His Own Anti-Americanism Onto Biden and Democrats in Rancid Fox News Rant

Taking its cues from Nazi propagandists, the Republican Party has become skilled in the dark art of projection as a key method of manipulating their mindless minions. It’s a tactic wherein they accuse others of the unsavory practices in which they themselves are engaging.

Fox News, Constitution

This behavior was evident in the remarks by GOP insurrection supporter, Sen. Josh Hawley (MO-QAnon), during Thursday night’s episode of the Laura Ingraham Inquisition on Fox News. The segment was wholly devoted to disparaging President Biden’s opening speech at the virtual Summit For Democracy that he hosted. Hawley, a committed opponent of democracy, projected his brand of divisive anti-Americanism on Biden in a typically baseless harangue:

“What really stands out to me is that it was one long, anti-American tirade made by the President of the United States and various members of his administration. I mean, you listen to them, they don’t like American voting laws. They don’t like American history. They want to rewrite our culture and completely change it. I mean, this is a guy who doesn’t really like America.”

It’s hard to take seriously a criticism that is so slathered in hypocrisy. After all, it is Hawley’s Republican Party that is attacking and corrupting voting laws across the country, with 19 states (so far) enacting laws that make it harder to vote. It is Hawley’s party that is suppressing history by banning the teaching of critical race theory and slavery. And no party is more obsessed with dictating culture than Hawley’s GOP, led by the King of Cancel Culture and Republican Godfather, Donald Trump. And they want to talk about guys that “don’t like America?”

What was it about Biden’s speech, you might wonder, that has so enraged Hawley and his Fox News hostess? Could it have been Biden’s determination to fight to “shore up the very foundation of American democracy: the sacred right of every person to make their voice heard through free, fair, and secure elections.” Or might it have been his intention to work to “hold corrupt actors accountable, reduce their ability to use the United States and international financial systems to hide assets and to launder money.”

Those are both the sort of ideals that make Republicans shiver with fear. However Hawley and Ingraham might also have been spooked by Biden’s aspirations for a world that values cooperation and the rights of everyone:

Yes, democracy is hard. We all know that. It works best with consensus and cooperation. When people and parties that might have opposing views sit down and find ways to work together, things begin to work. […] We have to stand for justice and the rule of law, for free speech, free assembly, a free press, freedom of religion, and for all the inherent human rights of every individual.”

It’s easy to see why Hawley was so outraged and why Fox News would provide him a platform to vent his wrath. Biden’s words extolling freedom and equal rights are anathema to Republican principles, or lack thereof. Just as the notion of free and fair elections scare the GOP, knowing as they do that the more people who vote, the more Democrats win. Trump actually said so out loud.

That’s why we are now seeing this pushback from the right to accuse Democrats of being anti-voting, history, etc. It’s all they have left. Never mind that they don’t even bother to produce an example of what they are alleging. Examples are for ethical persons with rational positions. So that leaves out Republicans on both counts.

Were Fox News and Tucker Carlson Directing and Bankrolling the Kyle Rittenhouse Defense?

The acquittal of the teenage vigilante, Kyle Rittenhouse, revealed some painful truths about the American justice system. Apparently a minor crossing state lines with an unlawfully possessed weapon to confront people protesting racial injustice, and killing two of them, is self-defense and perfectly legal. Hmm. Good to know.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Bullshit Factory

Right-wingers across the country are celebrating the pretend cop and medic, Rittenhouse, as a hero, despite his having murdered two unarmed men who were engaging in a lawful protest. Which is peculiar because when Ashli Babbitt was killed by an actual police officer while she was violently storming the Capitol, and threatening the lives of elected representatives and the Vice President, and trying to illegally prevent Congress from carrying out their constitutional duties, the same rightist politicians and pundits assailed it as an assassination.

However, an appearance on CNN by Rittenhouse’s attorney, Mark Richards, revealed something else that should raise serious concerns. Without any public disclosure, Fox News had abandoned any sense of of impartiality (as if they ever had any) by embedding itself with the Rittenhouse team days before the verdict. Even worse was that the reason Richards gave for granting Fox News that unprecedented access was to finance Rittenhouse’s defense. Richards made his remarks in the following exchange with CNN’s Chris Cuomo (video below):

Cuomo: Word that you guys had a film crew embedded with you from Fox News, from Tucker Carlson. I want to know why that decision was made.
Richards: I did not approve of that. I threw them out of the room several times…and I’m not suggesting that Fox or some other network…I don’t think a film crew is appropriate for something like this, but the people who were raising the money to pay for the experts and to pay for the attorneys were trying to raise money and that was part of it. So I think…I don’t want to say evil, but a definite distraction was part of it. And I didn’t approve of it, but I’m not always the boss.
Cuomo: Who were the people who were paying?
Richards: The people who were raising money. It was…this defense was crowd funded.
Cuomo: But who were the people making the calls about who got to have access to the process?
Richards: Kyle’s family and his adviser.

So while Tucker Carlson and the rest of the Fox News roster were lauding Rittenhouse as a paragon of White privileged, Second Amendment deliverance, they were also on the ground in Kenosha documenting their newfound protagonist and ratings magnet. And they were paying him for the privilege. Carlson began promoting his crocumentary within hours of the verdict, complete with Rittenhouse’s first post-acquittal reactions. “They’ve been there for days,” Carlson bragged, “putting together an installment of our Tucker Carlson Originals series on this case.” And he also announced that he would be airing the first Rittenhouse interview on Monday. How much do you suppose he paid for that? Carlson’s “Originals” was also responsible for his pro-insurrection propaganda piece, “Patriot Purge.” Or as CNN’s Jim Acosta called it, Proud Boy Porn.”

The revelations by Richards expose Fox News unethical participation in a propaganda campaign on behalf of an accused murderer while his trial was still in progress. And since the Rittenhouse family was getting paid by Fox, it’s fair to assume that there was agreement on how the case would be presented. What’s more, it raises additional questions about Judge Schroeder’s decision to ban MSNBC, a Fox News competitor, from the courtroom. How convenient was that?

The verdict in this case is going to result in people being “angry and concerned,” as President Biden said in his statement that also called for people “to express their views peacefully.” On the other hand we have Donald Trump telling Laura Ingraham on Fox News that…

“I don’t know Kyle. I watched him testify, which was very unusual that somebody would testify. I thought it was brave. I thought it was great that he testified.”

It’s cute that Trump thinks it is “brave” to testify, something that he refuses to do, or permit any of his accomplices to do. He won’t even allow the release of documents pertaining to his involvement in inciting the January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C. The only thing we can conclude from that is that Trump is admitting that he’s a coward.

Laura Ingraham’s Hysterical Dumbassery Shows Why Fox News Can’t Ever Be Taken Seriously

If there is one thing that Fox News has always failed at miserably, it’s comedy. Well, intentional comedy. They have actually been a fairly reliable source of unintentional laughs. That’s pretty easy with such mockable figures as Tucker Carlson (admitting that he doesn’t know WTF he’s talking about), or “Judge” Jeanine Pirro (competing with SNL for humor), or Peter Doocy (routinely humiliating himself).

Laura Ingraham, Fox News, Goofy

Now Laura Ingraham has elevated herself to the top of the spit(take) pile with a segment wherein she demonstrated how cognitively vacuous she is. Ingraham was hosting her frequent sidekick/guest, Raymond Arroyo, who is the “news” anchor of the Eternal Word Television Network. So right away you can expect a laugh riot. The subject was COVID vaccine mandates and Arroyo sought to make a point using a popular television program when hilarity ensued. Here is both the transcript and the video, but you’ve got to watch the video:

Arroyo: “I was watching an episode of “You” where measles came up.”
Ingraham: Wait, when did I mention measles?
Arroyo: I don’t know. It was on “You.”
Ingraham: What was on me? What are you talking about?
Arroyo: The measles and the vaccine episode was on “You.”
Ingraham: We never did a measles and the vaccine episode. Is this a joke?
Arroyo: I know. It was on “You.”
Ingraham: I’ve never had measles. What are you talking about?
Arroyo: It was an episode of a show.
Ingraham: What’s it called?
Arroyo: “You.” “‘You.” It’s called “You.”
Ingraham: I’ve never had measles. I just completely give up.
Arroyo: It’s a show called “You” on Netflix.
Ingraham: There’s a show called Laura Ingraham on Netflix?
Arroyo: Never mind. I’m moving on.

Is this Ingraham and Arroyo’s version of “Who’s on First”? Abbott and Costello must be rolling over in their graves – in hysterics.

While this video is comedy gold, it is also a reminder that Fox News should never be taken seriously. After all, if Ingraham is incapable of grasping the simple notion of a television show called “You,” how can she possibly be trusted to give a worthwhile analysis of epidemiology, or critical race theory, or economics, or foreign affairs, or climate change, or anything else?

Truth be told, Ingraham’s capacity to understand in this clip isn’t any worse than her understanding of any other subject she’s discussed on her show. And the same is true of Carlson, Sean Hannity, and the “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends. They all have the intellectual depth of Fox’s designated clown, Greg Gutfeld, and he isn’t exactly a candidate for Mensa membership.

Fortunately for Fox, their viewers are even lower on the scale of comprehension. That explains why they vote for Trump and Republicans like wannabe comedian Ted Cruz. It also explains why they are dying from COVID in far higher numbers than Democrats. So while there is humor in all of of this, there is also tragedy. What Fox News is doing to America isn’t really funny at all.
