Trump Cloddishly Dodges Hannity’s Softball Questions About Whether He Would Be a Dictator

Like clockwork, whenever Trump is suffering from some sort of emotional breakdown, he scurries off to cuddle in the comforting embrace of his adoring sycophants at Fox News. So no one will be surprised that, as his legal perils mount, Trump sat down for yet another fluffing session with his BFF Sean Hannity.

Facing 91 felony counts that include financial fraud, sexual abuse, and efforts to undermine democracy, is clearly weighing on Trump. The rage-posting that he engages in on his failing Truth Social website are becoming more unhinged by the hour. The rhetoric he disgorges at his cult rallies descends into a frothy and unbridled fury. And his malicious attacks on his perceived enemies grows ever more distant from reality.

A particularly disturbing portion of Trump’s “interview” with Hannity came when Hannity asked a question that ought to have been easy for him to answer without submerging himself in controversy and shame. Hannity wound up a nerf ball pitch to counter recent and accurate criticisms of Trump as an aspiring authoritarian. Trump’s response was pure Trump…

Hannity: They want to call you a dictator. You used the words “I am your retribution.” Now, before that you said if you’ve been wronged, and you used other words as well. But I want to be very, very clear on this. To be clear, do you in any way have any plans whatsoever, if reelected president, to abuse power, to break the law, to use the government to go after people?
Trump: You mean like they’re using right now. So, in the history of our country, what’s happened to us, again, has never happened before. Over nonsense. Over nothing. Made-up charges. I often say Al Capone – he was one of the greatest of all time, if you like criminals. He was a mob boss the likes of which — “Scarface,” they called him – and he got indicted once. I got indicted four times. […]

Hannity: The media has been focused on this and attacking you. Under no circumstances, you are promising America tonight, you would never abuse power as retribution against anybody?
Trump: Except for day one. I want to close the border and I want to drill, drill, drill. […] He says, “you’re not going to be a dictator are you?” I said “no, no, no.” Other than day one. We’re closing the border and we’re drilling, drilling, drilling. After that, I’m not a dictator.

Hannity’s flagrantly leading question could not have been squishier. It was intended to give Trump an opportunity to smack it out of the park with a firm denial of any tyrannical cravings. But Trump was typically too dense to take the glaring hint, despite getting two shots at it. Instead, Trump ignored the question entirely. After whining about his multiple indictments, he actually conceded that he would act as a dictator on his very first day in office. And what dictator has ever surrendered that power once assumed?

Trump and Hannity both neglect to mention that Trump has explicitly stated that, if returned to the White House, he would use the Justice Department to persecute his political foes; that he would use the military to suppress any dissent directed at him; that he would ban immigration on the basis of religion; that he would incarcerate his opponents in concentration camps; and that he would even “terminate” the Constitution. Other than that…

Trump followed up his “temporary” tyrant boast by promising that he would thereafter be a model of democratic liberty. Never mind that he already proved his abhorrence of American principles by inciting his attempted coup on January 6th. No sane person would believe his promises now. And he has only reaffirmed his despotic desires ever since. What follows are just a few recent examples of Trump’s authoritarian dreams…

Trump Threatens to ‘Come Down Hard on’ MSNBC and ‘Make Them Pay’ for Daring to Criticize Him
“It is the world’s biggest political contribution to the Radical Left Democrats who, by the way, are destroying our Country. Our so-called ‘government’ should come down hard on them and make them pay for their illegal political activity.”

Trump’s Uber-MAGA 2024 Campaign Message Reeks of the 3rd Reich Rhetoric of the ‘Final Battle’
“2024 is our final battle. With you at my side, we will demolish the Deep State, we will expel the warmongers from our government, we will drive out the globalists, we will cast out the Communists, Marxists, and Fascists, we will throw off the sick political class that hates our Country, we will rout the Fake News Media, we will evict Joe Biden from the White House, and we will FINISH THE JOB ONCE AND FOR ALL!”

Wannabe Dictator Trump Promises to Prosecute the ‘Country Threatening Treason’ of the Media

And if all of that isn’t frightening enough, take heed that a top Trump advisor, Kash Patel, who is likely to have a position in any future Trump administration, recently told MAGA propagandist Steve Bannon that the Trump Team is “dead serious” that “We will find the conspirators in govt and the media. Yes, we are going to come after the people in the media.” So their tyrannical ambitions are not idle threats, they are promises.

GOP Speaker Johnson is Helping Criminals who Stormed the Capitol on January 6th to Evade the Law

The Republican Party has long referred to itself as the party of “law and order.” That has never really been true, but it is farther removed from that description than ever with its current leader, Donald Trump, who is facing 91 felony charges, and has already been found liable for multiple crimes including financial fraud and rape.

GOP Insurrection

The GOP has lately been embracing the alternate designation of “outlaw and disorder.” That’s especially evident in the aftermath of the violent insurrection that Trump incited on January 6, 2021, when he refused to peacefully leave office. Ever since then Trump has been feverishly disseminating his “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged and stolen” from him. Never mind that he has failed to produce a shred of evidence to support his claims in more than three years and 60+ court cases. And that failure is driving him crazy(er).

Adding to the GOP’s commitment to criminality is the new Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson. In a press conference on Tuesday Johnson was asked about the 44,000 hours of videos of the January 6th insurrection that he has promised to release to the public. He claims that this is an act of transparency that will allow the American people to judge for themselves what happened. As if they didn’t already see it live on television at the time. And does Johnson really think that people are going to sit through 44,000 hours of video, a task that would take them five years if they watched 24 hour a day?

Making matters even worse (a key feature of today’s Republicans in Congress), at Tuesday’s press conference Johnson repeated his intention to blur the faces of the people in the insurrection videos. However, on this occasion, Johnson stated his reason for doing so…

“We trust the American people to draw their own conclusions. They should not be dictated by some narrative and accept that as fact. So they can review the tapes themselves. We’re going through a methodical process of releasing them as quickly as we can. As you know, we have to blur some of the faces of persons who participated in the events of that day because we don’t want them to be retaliated against and to be charged by the DOJ, and to have other, you know, concerns and problems.”

To be clear, what Johnson is saying is that he is going to deliberately hide the identities of the criminals who stormed the Capitol, assaulted police, terrorized members of Congress and their staff, and vandalized public property, all in an effort to obstruct Congress from carrying out its constitutional duty to certify the election. In other words, he is obstructing justice in order to help treasonous thugs get away with their crimes.

This raises some pressing questions for Johnson and others on the right who insist that January 6th was nothing more than a pleasant stroll through the Capitol by tranquil tourists. For instance, why would Johnson want to blur the faces of people who were allegedly engaging in a peaceful, legal protest? And wouldn’t he want to expose the members of Antifa and the FBI stooges that the right claims were inciting the riots?

Apparently not. It appears that Johnson’s motives are to shield lawbreakers from accountability for their criminal acts. He is purposefully obstructing justice and withholding evidence from law enforcement. Although it’s likely that the FBI already has these videos, so the only people Johnson actually cares about releasing them to are the MAGA media who will distort them to create the sort of false narratives that Johnson said he wants to avoid.

Johnson’s method of editing and releasing the tapes will only aid and abet those who intend to commit more crimes in the future. And he is simultaneously casting doubt on the 2020 election by supporting those who falsely claim that it was stolen. But then, Johnson has been open about his own intentions with regard to his stewardship of the House…

Between now and November of 2024, the American people need to be repeatedly reminded that Republicans are affirmatively pro-criminal. They demonstrate that in their efforts to protect the Capitol rioters. It’s obvious in the excuses they make for undermining democracy. But even more so, it is evident in their worshipful, cult-like support for Trump, a recidivist lawbreaker who aspires to install himself as an American dictator. Which every patriotic American must work diligently to oppose and prevent. in the weeks leading up to the next election.

UPDATE: Johnson’s spokesman walked back his statements about blurring faces in the videos to keep the insurrectionists from being prosecuted. He says that Johnson meant that only videos available to the public would have the blurring. That, however, is not what he said. And how does it advance “transparency” if there is any such modifications at all? It’s likely they were told that Johnson’s remarks constituted obstruction of justice and they are trying to avoid legal liability.

Trump Confesses to Bouts of Rage and Gluttony After Liz Cheney Reports His Reaction to January 6

He never seems the least bit hesitant to engage in rhetoric that others would find offensive, and his psychoses are so ingrained that he is either unaware when he is validating them or, considering his inflated ego, he’s downright proud of them.

This tendency by Trump to put his own deficiencies on display has manifested itself in heinous outbursts that reveal his racism, his misogyny, his corruption, his megalomania, his seething hatred for anyone or anything that isn’t unwaveringly worshipful, his aspirations for tyrannical power, and his admiration of tyrants who wield it.

Case in point: Early Monday morning (about 1:00 AM) Trump was wide-eyed and raging over excerpts from the new book by Liz Cheney, “Oath and Honor: A Memoir and a Warning.” The particular excerpt that was keeping Trump awake was one where Cheney recounted how Trump’s people sought Kevin McCarthy’s help after the January 6th insurrection and coup attempt that Trump incited because “They’re really worried. Trump’s not eating, so they asked me to come see him. […] he’s really depressed,”

Let’s set aside how preposterous McCarthy’s story is. Why would Team Trump seek McCarthy as a comforting influence so soon after he condemned Trump for inciting the storming of the Capitol? Not to mention the absurdity of any such event diminishing Trump’s ravenous appetite. He was probably scarfing down KFC when he posted the following attack on Cheney on his failing social media scam, Truth Social…

“Crazy Liz Cheney, who suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome at a level rarely seen before, writes in her boring new book that Keven McCarthy said he came to Mar-a-Lago after the RIGGED election because, ‘the former president was depressed and not eating.’ That statement is not true. I was not depressed, I WAS ANGRY, and it was not that I was not eating, it was that I was eating too much.”

There’s a lot to unpack in that spiel. Starting with the fact that Trump couldn’t possibly know whether Cheney’s book was boring because he surely didn’t read it. He also misspelled Kevin McCarthy’s name, twice. And he seems incapable of making any statement without including a reference to the “RIGGED” election that wasn’t rigged.

However, the most ludicrous part of Trump’s tantrum was his denial of the account as reported by Cheney. In the process of refuting the allegation that he was depressed and not eating, Trump confessed instead that he was “ANGRY” and “was eating too much.” How is that better? While it is more more believable that Trump was grouchy and gluttonous, than that he was glum and glutted, he is still affirming that he had a psychotic reaction to the events that took place on January 6th, and the days that followed.

Trump could be diagnosed as suffering from a combination of Explosive Anger and Binge Eating Disorders. So a visit with “Doctor” McCarthy was in order to stabilize him. Apparently it didn’t work, because Trump remained irrationally upset, and still does to this day. That might explain his subsequent post wherein he lashed out at Robert De Niro, calling him “a ‘mental midget’ whose mind is shot, and whose life is a total train wreck [and] can’t put two sentences together.” Funny, that sounds more like Trump himself. Projection?

Trump’s fury over what Cheney said isn’t likely to subside any time soon. Especially if she continues giving interviews like the one she gave on NBC’s “Today Show” on Monday morning wherein Cheney gave a chilling warning about the prospect of a second Trump term and his yearning to be president-for-life. It’s something that Trump will surely remember for a long time. And so should all Americans who love their country.

Trump Blows Blatantly Racist Dog Whistles to Motivate MAGA Voter Intimidation Squads in 2024

Three years after the presidential election of 2020, Donald Trump is still whining about having decisively lost to Joe Biden. He is clearly obsessed with not being able to beat a candidate that he tried to dismiss as a senile communist. And Trump has made his delusional despondency over that defeat the foundation of his current campaign to reoccupy the White House.

Never mind that Trump failed to produce a shred of evidence of any his unfounded allegations that the election was “rigged and stolen,” despite repeated promises to do so. He had plenty of opportunities to provide his evidence in the 60+ court cases that he lost, and innumerable media appearances. But for some reason he has chosen to keep his alleged “proof” secret and just keep making unfulfilled assurances that it will all be revealed soon.

In a speech in Iowa on Saturday, Trump once again declined to expose the rampant election fraud that exists only in his fevered imagination. However, he did repeat his complaints for the umpteenth time, while babbling about “millions and millions of votes” that he pretends to believe were swiped from him, even in states run by his Republican supporters (video below).

“You know, the one thing they don’t want to talk about is the election. Because they’re guilty as hell. They cheated like hell. They know it. And you’ll never find out all the ways. But we don’t need all the ways. Because I think it was 22,000 votes separated it. And we have millions and millions of votes. It’s a very sad thing.”

Instead of delivering any proof, Trump warned his glassy-eyed cult followers that the election in 2024 is likely to be “rigged and stolen” as well. And in order to prevent that, he offered some particularly offensive advice…

“So the most important part of what is coming up is to guard the vote, and you should go into Detroit, and you should go into Philadelphia, and you should go into some of these places, Atlanta, and you should go into some of these places, and we have to watch those votes when they come in. When they’re being, you know, shoved around in wheelbarrows, and dumped on the floor, and everyone’s saying ‘what’s going…’ We’re like a third world nation.”

Notice that Trump is telling his rally attendees in Iowa to go to specific cities – Detroit, Philadelphia, and Atlanta – to “watch those votes.” Then he paints a frightening picture of villainous wheelbarrows rolling around with evil intent to whisk away any ballots marked for Trump.

It’s important to recognize what the cities Trump named have in common. They are all precincts that have a high percentage of Black voters in states that could swing either way. You’ll notice that he didn’t demand that votes be “guarded” in Des Moines or Louisville. So what Trump is asking is that his disciples travel to places with diverse electorates and set up shop to intimidate the voters there.

Trump is signaling that he already believes that he’s going to lose in 2024. So he needs to lay the groundwork for another few years of yammering about nonexistent election fraud. And his strategy is to try to suppress and/or invalidate the votes of minorities. Which is a interesting considering that he recently told his own supporters not to bother with voting at all because “We’ve got plenty of votes” …

That’s right. Trump doesn’t want his own people to vote for him. They just need to “watch ‘those’ voters.” And somehow that will result in a victory for Trump. It’s actually a great piece of advice if his intent is to reelect Biden. His voters stay home and “watch” the rest of the nation – especially minorities – vote in droves for Biden and other Democrats. 2024 can’t come soon enough.

Speaker Mike Johnson Gives Fox News His Utterly Phony ‘Straightforward Facts’ to Impeach Biden

Ever since the Republican Party barely assumed the majority in the House of Representatives earlier this year, they have devotedly focused on meritless attacks aimed at President Joe Biden and other Democrats. Their determination to malign their political foes has consumed them entirely, to the exclusion of anything remotely resembling the actual interests of the American people.

Now that the GOP’s already slim majority has shrunk by one with the expulsion of pathological liar George Santos, the party is proving that they’ve learned nothing from their eleven months of rabid bias and pitiful ineptitude. They are resuming their obsession with impeaching Biden despite having zero evidence of any wrongdoing.

On Saturday morning GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson ventured to the friendly territory of Fox News to lay out his case for impeaching Biden. He described his reasons as clear and consisting of “straightforward facts” to his pals at Fox and Friends. But as usual for the Republican scandal mongers, there were no facts presented, only blatant lies. What follows is an annotated transcription of Johnson’s remarks on Fox (See video below).

“The facts are so clear for everyone to see. Just a couple of numbers to remember, just real quick off the top. Fifteen million. We know that the Biden family received at least $15,000,000 from foreign nationals and foreign companies, that includes from Ukraine, Russia, China, just between 2014 and 2019.”

Johnson is asserting only that the Biden family received funds from doing business with foreign companies, which is entirely legal. In fact, others who have received such funds, in much larger amounts, include Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump, Don Trump Jr, and Eric Trump. And Johnson has no evidence that President Biden ever received a penny. And for much of that time Biden was not even in office. Then Johnson continued…

“Sixteen times, at least on the record, Joe Biden has lied about his involvement in the family’s business dealings, Hunter Biden’s business dealings. We know that twenty-two times, at least twenty-two times the President met with or talked with Hunter’s foreign business associates.”

Johnson has provided exactly zero evidence of Biden ever lying about his involvement in Hunter Biden’s business dealings. Not on Fox News, nor during any of the hearings held by his confederates in the House. In fact, the GOP’s own witnesses at those hearings testified that the President never spoke with Hunter’s business associates about anything more consequential than the weather, and nothing at all related to business. Then Johnson went on…

“And we have checks written to Joe Biden that the Oversight Committee has found, the banking records, $40,000 from China, $200.000 from a now bankrupt healthcare company that his brother James Biden apparently swindled. The evidence is so clear that you cannot look away. And the Constitution requires the House to follow the truth wherever it leads.”

This is the most blatant lie of all. Johnson has no checks to Biden from China or any bankrupt healthcare companies. And he knows it. What he has are checks from Biden’s brother James for repayments of personal loans between brothers. And the evidence of the loans was affirmed in the bank records that Johnson admits to having. What’s more, the allegation that James Biden “swindled” anyone is pure slander.

What Johnson claims is clear evidence of crimes by the Biden family, is actually evidence of Johnson’s shameless dishonesty. Which is consistent with the inbred deceit of the Republican Party that he leads. Not to mention Fox News, whose flunkies sat there wide-eyed as he lied to them and their audience of Trump Cultists.

So it’s no surprise that the GOP recently announced that they would not be holding any more public hearings into the Biden impeachment. Because they must have finally gotten tired of humiliating themselves.

Congress Boots Lying Liar George Santos, While Trump Remains Leader of the Republican Party

Joseph Goebbels, the minister of propaganda for the German Nazi government, was a notorious proponent of the “Big Lie” theory that says if you’re going to tell a lie, make a big one. He contended that people were more likely to believe a big lie told frequently, than smaller, less significant lies. And Donald Trump has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to confirming that theory.

On Thursday morning the House of Representatives voted to expel George Santos from Congress. Among the allegations against him were the repeated lies he has told about his past, and his criminal indictments currently pending. Why Republicans in Congress are suddenly worried about lying is a mystery, considering that it has been their chief political strategy since assuming their razor-thin majority in the House earlier this year.

The final vote to expel Santos was 311 to 114. However, it is notable that a majority of Republicans (105-112) voted against the expulsion. That includes every member of the GOP leadership. Apparently they favor keeping pathological liars in their caucus to advance their agenda along with fellow liars such as Jim Jordan, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, and their new Speaker, Mike Johnson.

Most Americans, though, will be relieved that a slimeball like Santos has been ousted. Just as they were relieved when Trump lost to President Biden in 2020. However, the Republican Party remains enamored of their most dishonest political leaders. And the best example of that is Trump himself.

A comparison of Trump and Santos reveals the GOP’s faith in the “Big Lie” theory. Santos told relatively small lies about his education, work experience, and personal history. Trump has told humungous lies to facilitate a violent coup in an effort to undermine American democracy. He also told large lies regarding his net worth in order to either avoid paying millions in taxes or to deceive banks to get lower loan rates. He also lied bigly about his sexual abuse of dozens of women, including the rape of writer E. Jean Carroll. In the Lie Derby, Trump is clearly the winner.

The Trump/Santos comparison is also notable in that Santos is awaiting trial on 23 charges. Trump has 91 charges currently pending, nearly four times as many as Santos. And while Santos hasn’t been convicted of anything yet, Trump has been found legally liable for financial fraud with his businesses, his “charity” foundation, his “university,” and for defamation and rape. But despite Trump’s dominance in both lies and crimes, it is Santos who got banished from his political perch. Meanwhile, Trump is the frontrunner for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.

The lesson from this is that Santos erred by not committing more serious crimes. Had he done so he might now be Trump’s running mate. Although that may still be a possibility. Trump, on the other hand, has been rewarded for his more egregious criminality. Democrats don’t behave this way. For instance, Sen. Bob Menendez, who was recently indicted, has already been called on to resign by many Democratic senators.

Republicans, however, admire nothing more than crooks who are adept at getting away with their crimes. So it’s no wonder that they worship an accomplished mob boss like Trump. And the fact that some of them held Santos to account, but not Trump, really tells you all you need to know about the GOP’s affinity for outlaws.

Cantankerous Trump Demonstrates Precisely Why His Gag Order Was Appropriately Reinstated

The trials and tribulations of Donald Trump continue to unfold in ways that reveal just how far down the rabid hole he has descended. As his legal peril increases, so does his hostility and his irrational reactions to the charges he faces and the consequences of his criminal conduct.

Trump has spent the past few weeks pounding out vicious assaults and bitter laments aimed at those he perceives as his mortal enemies. And they aren’t just Democrats and insufficiently worshipful Republicans. Trump is big mad at the prosecutors and judges who hold his fate and freedom in their hands.

On Thursday Trump unleashed an avalanche of vitriol on his failing social media scam, Truth Social. He posted a burst of fifty-seven (57!) comments, from about 7:00 AM until noon, that either exalted him as a messianic savior, or maligned his many foes.

The largest category of comments were eleven that were aimed at someone he thinks is the wife of Judge Arthur Engoron, who is presiding over his financial fraud case in New York. There is no proof that his target is actually who he thinks she is, but that’s of no matter to him. He is sharply focused on disgorging his anger on whoever is handy.

[UPDATE: CBS News reports that the person that Trump is attacking is not Judge Engoron’s wife}

The posts by Trump attempt to suggest that the judge’s wife is anti-Trump. They contain pictures of memes disparaging Trump and referencing his pending criminal cases. For instance, one shows Trump as a green-faced witch with text reading…

“Trump’s ‘witch hunt’ theory misses a crucial thing: his OWN CONDUCT. It’s not like Trump’s behavior is being questioned for no reason. He just keeps doing things that require investigation. Trump would do well to remember that it is only a witch hunt if the accusations are untrue.”

It’s interesting that Trump would post something that makes such a good point about why he is not the victim of a witch hunt. Trump added his thoughts saying that…

“This is the Judge’s Wife saying this, and many things much worse. At what point do High Court Officials step in, and end this Witch Hunt? Judge Engoron is making fools of the New York State Judicial System!”

Trump needs to be told that, unless there is some evidence of bias, the views of a judge’s wife (if that’s who she is) have no bearing on the decisions he makes in court. And there is zero evidence of any bias by Judge Engoron. This is not like the obvious biases shown by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, for whom there is abundant evidence of bias that makes the bizarre extremism of his wife, Ginni, so concerning.

The other ten posts attacking the alleged Mrs. Engoron are more of the same. Trump calls her “out of control,” and “an embarrassment,” and “Trump-hating,” and insists that her opinions warrant impeaching him from the judiciary.

Attacks like these are why Judge Engoron imposed a gag order on Trump to prohibit him from lashing out court staffers. The gag order was later stayed pending appeal. However, the appeals court just reinstated it.

Trump himself is providing the best arguments for his being subject to a gag order. The order is narrowly defined and limited to court staff. Consequently, Trump could still aim his ire at the judge and his family Even though a decent person would never do so. He can also continue his campaign for the GOP presidential nomination. So despite his tedious whining, his free speech rights are not being suppressed.

Trump’s behavior shows that he is an unrepentant bully who is determined to intimidate the court, the prosecutors, and the witnesses. And the more he talks, the more ammunition he gives to the court to muzzle him. He represents an imminent danger to innocent people and ought to be held to the same standards as any other defendant. But he’s likely to continue behaving unethically and childishly because it’s just in his nature.

Trump Threatens to ‘Come Down Hard on’ MSNBC and ‘Make Them Pay’ for Daring to Criticize Him

One thing you can say for Donald Trump is that he isn’t ashamed to admit his authoritarian aspirations and his intentions to reign in the mold of his tyrannical heroes Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong Un, and Xi Jinping. And the American people need to believe him when he promises to replace democracy with a dictatorship with him at the helm.

This isn’t a momentary lapse in judgement or an inadvertent gaffe. Trump has been bragging about his dictatorial dreams for years. He yearns to have the unchallenged power of Putin whose political foes seem to keep falling out of windows. Those not done in by gravity would be jailed by Trump, who has no respect for the the rule of law or the Constitution.

On Wednesday morning Trump lashed out at the press that he regards, in Stalinist terms, as the “the enemy of the people.” In a post on his failing social media scam, Truth Social, Trump raged that…

“MSNBC (MSDNC) uses FREE government approved airwaves, and yet it is nothing but a 24 hour hit job on Donald J. Trump and the Republican Party for purposes of ELECTION INTERFERENCE. Brian Roberts, its Chairman and CEO, is a slimeball who has been able to get away with these constant attacks for years. It is the world’s biggest political contribution to the Radical Left Democrats who, by the way, are destroying our Country. Our so-called ‘government’ should come down hard on them and make them pay for their illegal political activity. Much more to come, watch!”

There’s a surprising quantity of bullpucky in that brief, bombastic outburst. Let’s start with the fact that Trump, as usual, doesn’t know what he’s talking about with regard to MSNBC’s programming. It is distributed on private cable networks, so there are no “government approved airwaves” involved.

As for Trump’s rant about MSNBC being biased against Republicans, the network has given four hours of every weekday morning to Joe Scarborough, a former Republican congressman, and another two hours in the afternoon to Nicolle Wallace, who was the White House communications director for former president George W. Bush. To be sure, both are avowed critics of Trump, but as appropriately disgusted Republicans, not as “Radical Left Democrats.”

Trump is also showing his ignorance of the media business by citing Brian Roberts as MSNBC’s chairman and CEO. He is not. Rashida Jones is the president of MSNBC. Mike Cavanagh is the CEO the network’s parent company, NBC/Universal. Brian Roberts heads up Comcast, of which NBC/Universal is a subsidiary.

Furthermore, if Trump is so appalled by people on MSNBC criticizing Trump with well-reasoned and fully backed up analyses of his abhorrent positions and personality, what must he think of Fox News? After all, they slobber over him with undeserved and cultish adulation, while defaming his opponents with blatant falsehoods. Isn’t that “a 24 hour hit job” and “ELECTION INTERFERENCE?” It surely is a huge “political contribution” to Trump who actually is committed to “destroying our Country.” And it was Fox News, not MSNBC, who had to pay a nearly billion dollar settlement for their defamation and lies.

The worst part of Trump’s commentary on MSNBC is his overt threat that, if given the opportunity, he would use the government to “come down hard on them and make them pay.” He is openly trying to intimidate MSNBC, as well as any other media enterprise that is less than worshipful toward him. He yearns to shut them down like Putin does in Russia.

Don’t think for a minute that he wouldn’t do it. He doesn’t believe that the media has the right to express themselves. He abhors the Constitution. Consequently, freedom of the press would become a relic of the past. And any independent reporting would be punishable by the state under his control. Which is another reason that he must never have any control or influence over this nation or the lives of its people.

GOP and Fox News Oppose Public Testimony By Hunter Biden Because Then They Can’t Lie About It

The Republican Party’s control of the House of Representatives has been a chaotic nightmare from day one. It took them fifteen votes to select a Speaker. Then, nine months later they dumped him and took another three weeks to select his replacement. They have been a master class in disorganization, ultra-partisanship, and utter neglect of the people’s business.

In fact, the GOP has been so determined to avoid any substantive progress that they have engaged only in political stunts, attacks on President Biden and his administration, and petty assaults on other Democrats. They have initiated impeachment inquiries into Biden and several members of his Cabinet, despite having zero evidence of any wrongdoing. They have even admitted that their antics were intended to harm their political foes.

Among the pseudo-scandals that Republicans have been pursuing is the harassment of the President’s son, Hunter Biden. However, every attempt to pin some random crime on him has resulted in the GOP humiliating themselves. The hearings they scheduled ended up proving that none of the Republican charges were valid.

Consequently, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, has now subpoenaed Hunter to testify before Congress. Hunter accepted the request with the stipulation that his testimony be done in a public hearing. But Comer rejected that offer and insists that Hunter be deposed in private.

To be clear, Comer previously held public hearings when he thought that they would embarrass Democrats. But since it was the GOP that looked shameful, Comer is now opposed to hearings in public. He has learned that they only expose the GOP’s weakness and dishonesty. But if held in private, he can distort and lie with impunity, at least for a while.

Naturally, Fox News has come to the rescue of Comer and the GOP with a segment on an episode of its “outnumbered” program. And the task of justifying the sudden affinity for private testimony fell to Michele Tafoya, a former sports sideline commentator (video below). Tafoya said that…

“I prefer hearings to be done behind closed doors because I actually think that they get to the heart of the matter, and they get some truth, and they can ask questions without preening for the camera, without all the grandstanding. That is my preference.”

Of course, they can do all of those things in live, public hearing as well. If she is worried about members or witnesses “preening” for the camera, that’s the responsibility of the chairman to keep the hearing in order. Which they’ve shown no ability to do. She went on…

“And for Abbe Lowell, his attorney, to say, ‘Well, you all use that to misinform and to distort the facts.’ Well you know what? You can do that too, Abbe. After he comes out of his closed-door session, you feel free to knock yourself out and you can distort too. I mean it’s a silly argument.”

Notice that Tafoya is actually agreeing that Republicans would “misinform” and “distort the facts.” And she excuses it by offering to allow Democrats to do the same. But Democrats would reject that offer because they have no interest in lying the way Republicans do.

Tafoya also claimed that Hunter “would love nothing more than to sit, have cameras pointed at him.” Where she got that from is a complete mystery. He has been profoundly camera shy since he was thrust into the political circus created by Republicans and Fox News.

Comer’s attempt to hide behind closed doors was shredded by Democratic Rep. Jamir Raskin, who responded saying…

“Let me get this straight,” Raskin said in his statement. “After wailing and moaning for ten months about Hunter Biden and alluding to some vast unproven family conspiracy, after sending Hunter Biden a subpoena to appear and testify, Chairman Comer and the Oversight Republicans now reject his offer to appear before the full Committee and the eyes of the world and to answer any questions that they pose?” […]

“Chairman Comer’s insistence that Hunter Biden’s interview should happen behind closed doors proves it once again. What the Republicans fear most is sunlight and the truth.”

Exactly! Comer’s efforts to hide Hunter’s testimony is the best evidence that he knows there is nothing untoward to reveal. If Comer thought there was something there, he would be the first one to insist on public hearings. Instead, he plans to continue his crusade of deceit and defamation. It’s really all they have.

Fox News is TERRIFIED that Obama is Running the Country and is Responsible for Biden’s Success

It must be getting more difficult for Fox News to manufacture scandals that they can attribute to President Biden and other Democrats and to be appalled by. The ones they are coming up with these days are achieving a degree of inanity that exceeds there wildest previous efforts. It’s hard to know whether we should congratulate them, or pity them.

On Monday morning’s episode of “Mornings with Maria Bartiromo,” Fox’s Senior Trump-Fluffer interviewed a Republican congressman, Richard McCormick, in a segment that sought to disparage the President for his having had the gall to advance in age. It’s the only matter on which they are able to criticize him, considering his historic record in job creation, his leadership of a booming economy, the respect he’s garnered for his international diplomacy, and his support for a broadly popular agenda that includes fighting for reproductive choice, expanding voting rights, and taxing the rich. Meanwhile, Fox News is focusing on malarkey like this…

The interview was a typically substanceless Fox News assault Biden until Bartiromo got around to a favorite subject on the network: Biden’s age and mental acuity. Never mind that Donald Trump is only three years younger and exhibits way more evidence of both physical and cognitive decline than Biden. The mission on Fox is always to defame Democrats. However, on this occasion they missed their target by a mile…

Bartiromo: So who is running the show here? Does he know what’s going on or is he being directed by President Obama?
McCormick: He definitely doesn’t know what’s going on. And whether he’s being directed by Obama or some other staff member is really questionable. But if you look at his cognitive decline for the last fifty years, we’ve been in, literally in real time, watching this guy in public life and the way he’s talked, he’s being very slick, Clintonesque if you like. He no longer has that cognitive ability. He misinterprets questions. He misinterprets emotions. He doesn’t have a strategy. He doesn’t have any sort of education or ability to interpret new data.

Somewhere deep down Bartiromo knows that the nation has progressed in great strides since Biden trounced Trump, whose “leadership” thrust the nation into recession and burdened it with misery. But Fox News is so averse to giving Biden credit for anything that they have to invent a conspiracy wherein the credit goes to someone else. In this case it is former President Barack Obama.

Bartiromo probably believes that this is a brilliant idea that not only deprives Biden of the accolades he deserves, it also casts the spotlight on the former Black President who her viewers already hate. However, she is, in effect, affirming that the Biden presidency is producing positive results that she has to pretend that he had nothing to do with. She is also shifting attention to the most popular former American president.

As for McCormick, his baseless allegations only make him look more foolish. First of all, Biden has never been regarded as a “slick” orator akin to Clinton. In fact, he is a lifelong stutterer and was known as gaffe machine. But McCormick’s bizarre assertions that Biden misinterprets questions, has no strategy or education, and can’t process new data, are plucked from pure fantasy. Biden has presided over the passage of numerous bills that have benefited the people. He has shown remarkable skill at uniting the world against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and more recently, he has done the same on behalf of both Israel and civilians in Gaza.

The only candidate that is showing signs of mental decline is Donald Trump. He has recently spoken about how he defeated Obama in 2016 (that was Hillary Clinton), and has talked about his current race against Obama (that’s Biden). He mixed up the leaders of Hungary and Turkey. He thinks wind turbines cause cancer and kill whales. And he mistook a photo of E. Jean Carroll, who he has been found liable for defamation and rape, as being his ex-wife Marla Maples.

Also on Monday morning, Trump posted a comment on his failing social media scam, Truth Social, wherein he attempted to explain that his recent fumbling of Obama and Biden were intentional. Yeah, right. He’s done it at least seven times and never once suggested it was sarcasm. His entire post bragging about his alleged mental health actually provides more proof of serious illness…

“Whenever I sarcastically insert the name Obama for Biden as an indication that others may actually be having a very big influence in running our Country, Ron DeSanctimonious and his failing campaign apparatus, together with the Democrat’s Radical Left ‘Disinformation Machine,’ go wild saying that ‘Trump doesn’t know the name of our President, (CROOKED!) Joe Biden. He must be cognitively impaired.'”

So Trump expects people to believe that he did it on purpose in order to make people think he’s nuts? Sure, that makes perfect sense. But he wasn’t finished…

“No, I know both names very well, never mix them up, and know that they are destroying our Country.”

“They” are? So Trump really does believe that Obama is still in power? Trump continues…

“Also, and as reported, I just took a cognitive test as part of my Physical Exam, and ACED it. Also ACED (a perfect score!) one taken while in the White House.”

Yep, Trump took a “test” ordinarily given to detect early signs of dementia. It consists of tasks like counting backwards and identifying an elephant. But even though it is a very easy test, Trump has still never provided the actual results. He just pretended that he could recall five words as long as they are all things immediately in front of him at the time (person, woman, man, camera, TV). But he still wasn’t done with this rambling rant…

“Biden should take one so we can determine why he wants Open Borders, No Energy Independence, A Woke Military, High Inflation, No Voter I.D., Men playing In Women’s Sports, Only Electric Cars & Trucks, A Weaponized DOJ/FBI, and so many other CRAZY things!!!”

Needless to say, Biden doesn’t want any of those things. They are all figments of Trump’s overactive and perverse imagination (see video below). And with regard to “weaponizing” government, that’s almost all he talks about doing in his hoped for next term. Which is all the more reason that it must never happen.
